TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON. HE STATED THAT THE REAR LAP BELTS WOULD BIND UP NEAR THE SHOULDER PANEL. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE SEAT BELTS WOULD NOT RETRACT OR EXTEND WHICH CAUSED THEM TO REMAIN IN A LOCKED POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOULD BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000. UPDATED 01-16-08. *KB THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS BIND UP IN THE UPPER SHOULDER GUIDE CAUSING THE SEAT BELTS TO BE JAMMED. WHEN JAMMED, THE SEAT BELTS DO NO RETRACT OR EXTEND TO PROPERLY FIT A PASSENGER. THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE SEAT BELT GUIDE ARRANGEMENT. UPDATED

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SEATBELT FOR THE MIDDLE ROW PASSENGER SEAT WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE RETRACTOR WAS BROKEN AND THE SEATBELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.

DT: THE CONTACT WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP AND THE ABS LIGHT AND PARKING LIGHT CAME ON. HE INCREASED HIS STOPPING DISTANCE IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER; THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE DEALER STATED IT NEEDED A NEW ELECTRONIC BOX. THERE WAS NO FREE REMEDY TO FIX THE BOX. THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IN THE SECOND ROW OF THE VEHICLE LOCKED IN THE BUCKLE, OTHER TIMES IT WILL COME LOOSE WHILE IN THE SEAT BELT. ALSO WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT ONE COULD HEAR A CLICKING SOUND. THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. *AK
MULTIPLE FAILURES; A/C ODORS, DOOR LOCK, SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT AND BRAKES. *BF THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING: WEATHER STRIP WAS LOOSE, THE A/C BLEW WARM, THE BELTS SQUEAKED, THERE WAS A MILDEW ODORS, THE WINDOW REGULATOR, THE FRONT SEAT BELT SQUEAKED, THE DOOR PANEL, THE STEERING WHEEL RATTLED, DRIVE SHAFT, ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE WIPERS WERE NOISY, THE HINGE PIN ON THE RADIO WAS LOOSE, ENGINE NOISES, A/C DRAIN WOULD NOT DRAIN AT TIMES UNTIL THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS CLOSED/WATER LEAD AND CAUSED BY THE LEFT FRONT FLOORBOARD. VEHICLE HAVING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH SEATBELTS. *MR THE FRONT SEAT BELT WOULD NOT PULL OUT OR RETURN TO POSITION, TWO WEEKS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THE REAR SEAT BELT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE BATTERY LEAKED ACID FROM THE POSITIVE BATTERY POST AND THE MATERIAL ON THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS WEARING OUT. *SC *JB

THERE WAS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELT, WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS FASTENED, IT LOCKED PERMANENTLY, AND DID NOT ALLOW THE PASSENGER TO MOVE FOWARD. *JB *JB
LACK OF 3 POINT RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND HEAD RESTS ON MIDDLE POSITION OF BENCHES. I HAVE SIX CHILDREN WHO ARE QUICKLY OUTGROWING CAR SEATS. I BELIEVE 2 PT RESTRAINTS ARE UNSAFE. WHEN WILL THEY BECOME STANDARD IN LARGE UTILITY VECHICLES LIKE THE YUKON XL? LESSER CARS ARE EQUIPPENT WITH THEM. HOW DOES A MOTHER CHOOSE WHICH 2 CHILDREN TO PLACE IN THE LESS SAFE SEATS? NLM
WHEN SITTING IN PASSENGER'S SEAT AND USING SEAT BELT, SEAT BELT WILL START TO LOCK UP ONCE CONSUMER MOVES, AND WILL NOT UNLOCK UNTIL CONSUMER UNLOCKS THE BUCKLE. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS IN WHICH NEITHER TIME DID THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY,DURING ONE ACCIDENT THE CONSUMER SAYS SHE ALSO DOESNT REMEMBER THE SEAT BELT TIGHTENING CAUSING HER TO STRICK HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND KNEES TO HIT THE DASH. *MJ
PASSENGER SAFETY BELT DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, LOCKING MECHANISM IS TOO SENSITIVE. PASSENGER WILL SLIGHTLY MOVE FORWARD AND SEAT BELT WILL LOCK AND PLACE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO PASSENGER . ONLY WAY IT WILL LOOSEN UP OR RELEASE IS IF PERSON REMOVES SEAT BELT AND REAPPLIES IT. *AK
PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT WOULD TIGHTEN DOWN OR LOCK UP UPON MOVEMENT IN SEAT WHILE DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT WAS A NORMAL OPERATION. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER.*AK
INTERMITTENT STALLING WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES DEALER LOANED A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER, HOWEVER PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE AUGUST 6TH, AFTER VEHICLE STALLS IT WILL START BACK UP WITHOUT A PROBLEM. ABS EXPERIENCED ERRATIC OPERATION. FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT NEEDED REPLACED. *SLC
FRONT PASSENGER'S LAP AND SHOULDER BELTS WERE DESIGNED TO HOLD A CHILD SAFETY SEAT, AND WOULD CONTINUALLY LOCK AND PULL TIGHTER ON PASSENGER. THIS TIGHTENING OF PASSENGER RESTRAINTS COULD RESULT IN RESTRICTED BREATHING, AND SEVERE DISCOMFORT. *AK THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT. *YH
WHEN USING MIDDLE LAP SEAT BELT FOR CSS BELT WILL LOOSEN, AND WILL NOT LOCK IF IT IS POSITIONED AT A RIGHT ANGLE . CONSUMER MUST ROTATE BELT IN ORDER TO HOLD TENSION. CONSUMER WAS NOT AWARE OF DEFECT DESIGN NOR WAS CONSUMER ADVISED BY DEALER OF DEFECT DESIGN. *AK
