The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle from a towing company, the vehicle would not start. The battery was instantly replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle would wobble and shut off inadvertently while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the stabilizers and shocks were replaced. The independent mechanic then took the vehicle to an electrical failure specialist where it was diagnosed that the front end of the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. Additionally, the contact stated that a warning message stating that the air bags were not working was displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. Consumer stated in 2016 the odometer was at 175,000 miles per car fax. When consumer bought the vehicle on March 25th 2022 the odometer read 202,575.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED INDEPENDENT DECELERATION AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP, SPARK PLUGS, TRANSMISSION, AND ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS ARE INACCURATELY READING. SPEEDOMETER RANGES FROM 25 - 70 MPH OVERSTATED. FUEL GAUGE REMAINS WELL IN EXCESS OF FULL UNTIL ABOUT 7 GALLONS ARE LEFT IN TANK. OIL PRESSURE IS REGISTERING WELL TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGHEST READING. PROBLEM BEGAN DURING COLD TEMPERATURE (AROUND 10 DEGREES) AND IMPROVES WITH TEMPERATURE INCREASES BUT HAS NOT RESOLVED ITSELF. APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS GM SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT 07187A. THE VIN IS WITHIN THE CATEGORY LISTED BY THE POLICY; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IS OLDER THAN 10 YEARS BUT FITS WITHIN THE MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 64,500 MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN DEFECT WHICH CLEARLY IMPACTS SAFETY. SPEEDOMETER RANDOMLY STICKS, OR ACCELERATES TO MAXIMUM. OIL PRESSURE GAUGES MAX OUT AS WELL. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH NO CONCEPT OF SPEED, AND ALSO VERY ILLEGAL. WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE, I CAN TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IF I CONTINUE TO TURN THE KEY 90% (BUT NOT ENOUGH TO START THE ENGINE), AND LET OFF, THE GAUGES WILL DROP UP TO 5%. AFTER 5 MINUTES OF RESETTING THE INSTRUMENTS, THE GAUGES WILL RESET. HOWEVER, THE NEXT TIME I DRIVE I MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE AT 40 INSTEAD OF 25, BUT MY SPEEDOMETER SAYS 80. CLEARLY UNSAFE.

HELLO, WHEN IM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE IT ALSO HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 3 OR 4 MIN AND RESTART IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. GMC SAYS THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT. INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FAILED EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL AT APPROX. 167,000 MILES. ONLY REASON WE KNOW IT FAILED WAS A SPEEDING TICKET WAS ISSUED FOR 58 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 45 MPH. CERTIFIED GMC SERVICE CENTER CONFIRMED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FAULTY. COST TO REPAIR WAS $515.62 PLUS COST OF SPEEDING TICKET. THE POLICE OFFICER ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH BUT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE SPEEDOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES ARE STICKING THE ODOMETER IS NOT WORKING AT ALL THE OIL GAUGE IS PINNED AND THE OTHER GAUGES ALSO STICK. I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON, LAST YEAR THE INSTRUMENT DASH CLUSTER STARTED TO FAIL ALONG WITH A CONTINUOUS LOUD DINGING FROM THE WARNING BELL AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD STOP WORKING ALONG WITH THE WINDOWS POWERING OFF, SHORTLY AFTER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC DESCRIBING THIS EXACT DEFECT, RECENTLY I CONTACTED GMC REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND WAS GREETED BY A CALL CENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES, THE MAN TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE, AFTER I GOT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND STARTED DIAGNOSTICS I CALLED BACK TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. I WAS OUTRAGED THAT THEY HAD ACTUALLY PULLED A BAIT AND SWITCH ON A REPAIR???, AFTER BEING LEFT ON HOLD FOR OVER AN HOUR WHILE THE "CUSTOMER SERVICE REP" TRIED TO FIND A SUPERVISOR SO THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO, HE FINALLY GOT BACK ON THE PHONE AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP HOLDING, I THEN DEMANDED TO SPEAK TO A GMC REPRESENTATIVE IN THE STATES, WHILE ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER HALF HOUR HE RETURNED AND SAID I WOULD BE CONTACTED IN 24 HOURS BY A USA REP. AFTER THREE HOURS WAITING FOR MY CAR IT WAS FINALLY RELEASED TO ME FREE OF CHARGE, ( FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS) BUT STILL NOT FIXED. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN AMERICAN GMC REP, A FEW DAYS LATER AND WHILE THEY DANCED AROUND THE ISSUE AND WHO SHOULD FIX IT, THEY KEPT CALLING ME BACK TO SEE IF I FOUND A DEALERSHIP TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED, I TRIED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND BOTH INDICATED THEY DID NOT WANT TO HELP, I AM NOW STUCK WITH WHAT IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT ON MY $30,000 DOLLAR FAMILY CAR! I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR IT'S SAFETY AND COMFORT AND NOW I'M AFRAID FOR MY FAMILY TO RIDE IN IT, CAN'T TRADE IT IN, CAN'T SELL IT AND NO ONE WILL FIX THIS RE-CALL ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. AFTER HAVING A DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT BURN OUT, I REMOVED THE LENS AND FOUND SIGNIFICANT CHARRING OF THE LIGHT BULB SOCKET. IT WAS BURNT SO BAD THAT IT MOSTLY CRUMBLED AS I TRIED TO REMOVE THE OLD BULB. I TOOK OFF THE OTHER SIDE TO CHECK IT, AND THE CONDITION OF THE SOCKET WAS THE SAME. THUS, BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE BULB ALSO DISTORTED AND RUINED BOTH OF MY LENSES ON THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THESE CARS HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH HEAT ON THESE LIGHT SOCKETS. TEN MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD FOR A LANE CHANGE TO THE LEFT, I SIGNALED AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED (BOTH ARROWS FLASHING). I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE CARS AROUND ME SEE IN REGARDS TO MY LIGHTS. THE OTHER INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES HAVE BEGUN TO MALFUNCTION AND DISPLAY INACCURATE READINGS. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE DIAL WOULD STOP A LITTLE BELOW THE FULL LINE; THEREFORE, SHE NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONSULTED GMC AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. GMC WANTED TO CHARGE HER $450 FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS FAILURE REPORTS. THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WHEN IT BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. THE FAILURE HAS WORSENED AND IS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

IT DID THIS SPORADICALLY FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS - SOMETIMES IT DECREASES, SOMETIMES IT INCREASES. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER, WHEN IT WORKS, USUALLY SHOWS 70 MPH OR HIGHER. IT REGISTERS A SPEED WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT. ALL THE OTHER GAUGES SEEM TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY. WE NOW MONITOR OUR SPEED BY THE TACHOMETER. WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE ON REPAIR HOPING GM WILL ISSUE A RECALL. *JB
I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. MEANING THE SPEEDOMETER ALONG WITH THE BATTERY GAUGE. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. MY BATTERY GAUGE WORKS PROPERLY SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING INTO THE PROBLEM HE TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. HE SAID HE HAS HAD TO REPLACE MANY OTHER ONES ALSO. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE SPEEDOMETER THEN IT MOVED TO MY BATTERY GAUGE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR ABOUT 8,000 MILES. I HAVE 47,273 MILES ON MY YUKON. IT STARTED THIS FALL MAYBE CLOSER TO WINTER. BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDO STUCK AT ABOUT 70 MILES AN HOUR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A GLITCH BUT WHEN IT HAPPENED MORE AND MORE NOW I KNOW THAT IT IS A PROBLEM. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING A CERTIAN MPH AND YOUR REALLY NOT SOME MIGHT GET FRUSTRATED WITH OTHERS EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY BE IN THE WRONG. I CAN JUST SEE ALL THE ROAD RAGE HAPPENING BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE GOIND 70 AND THEY ARE REALLY GOING 80 OR MORE. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING MY TACHOMETER BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. BECAUSE I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT WILL COST 600+ TO FIX. HOW MANY OF THOSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM ARE GOING TO SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX A SPEEDOMETER?

I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 GMC YUKON. IT STARTED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2004 WITH MY REAR AIR NOT WORKING, IT WAS INOPERABLE; AND, A POPPING NOISE IN MY STEERING, THE STEERING FELT LOOSE. THE REAR AIR WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED IN OCTOBER OF 2004 BUT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM NOW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005, ONE YEAR LATER. I'VE NEVER REALLY HAD REAR AIR SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, IT WORKS OCCASIONALLY. I STILL HAVE NO REAR AIR AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT TOOK UNTIL JANUARY OF 2005 TO FIX THE STEERING PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER, WHICH QUIT WORKING IN DECEMBER OF 2004 AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN AND LEAVE FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO SEND THE SPEEDOMETER TO CALIFORNIA FOR REPROGRAMMING, THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN JANUARY OF 2005. *NM

WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND PULLING A TRAILER VEHICLE STALLED. PRIOR TO STALLING THERE WAS SOME HESITATION AND JERKING AS IF NOT GETTING FUEL TO ENGINE. THE DEALER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP IN ARIZONA, AND FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE FOR FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. ALSO, EXPERIENCED STEERING PROBLEM. THE STEERING WOULD BE STICKING, AND IT WOULD JAM WHEN MAKING TURNS EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. THE MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE A SEAL IN COLUMN SHAFT OF STEERING WHEEL. *AK THE LIGHT CLUNK NOISE IN THE STEERING, LOW VOLTAGE, AND INSUFFICIENT FUEL PRESSURE ON ACELERATION INTERMITTENTLY. *SC
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE ACCELERATION PEDAL VIBRATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE FUEL SENDER SCREEN. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST NINE TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *AK

THE DEALER STATED THE BRAKE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE CURRENT YEAR MODEL BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE DIFFERENT AND A NEW WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE PURCHASED. *JB
