Driving down the expressway at 65MPH, and the Vehicle completely stops, almost causing a collision. After researching the problem at the GMC Dealer, it appears that the entire engine has internally failed. Apparently it was a Complete Engine Failure.
The transmission failed at 59,700 miles. The transmission will shift up and down by itself. The transmission is revving up when trying to pass and the vehicle will go limp for a few seconds and then the gear with kick in really hard. In stop and go traffic the transmission slips constantly and could cause an accident due to the limp mode.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, added pressure was needed before the vehicle came to a stop. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated or jumped before coming to a stop. Additionally, the contact stated the transmission was slipping. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled before self-correcting. The contact also stated that while idling at a stop light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated, but gradually accelerated as needed. The contact stated that the rear taillight intermittently failed to illuminate. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The transmission fluid was flushed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission was fractured, and the light bulbs needed to be replaced. The transmission was not repaired or replaced. The headlights were not replaced. The dealer confirmed that the brakes were included in NHTSA Campaign Number 19V645000 (Service Brake, Hydraulic) and the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was driven to the residence without further repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle had become inoperable. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,846.

My vehicle started out with a rumble and driving rough. Then it started jumping out of gear. Took it to Transmission shop and they said the have had a lot of SUV’s of the same model with the same problem. It was the transmission. Had it fixed, with a hefty price of 4,900 dollars.
Loss of power steering, loss of abs, loss of cruise control, loss of forward crash assist, loss of lane departure, lose of side detection, oil leak from oil cooler line connection leaking down engine, potential fire, parking sensor, arm rest phone charger short circuit potential fire, wires pinched off at hinge point of center counsel, trailer brake system, stabilitrac, all current errors make vehicle unsafe to drive, ongoing issues since purchase including service reports of the same issues from previous owner
My vehicle is currently in the shop getting the motor worked on for a bad lifter. From the information the mechanic provided me this is a common issue with the vehicles that have the Active Fuel Management system. They are seeing many of these vehicles have to come in and have very expensive repairs. My first quote I received was $16, 000, they told me I needed a whole new motor and this assessment cost me $365 and a rental car while they looked at the truck. Now it is in the shop again and the estimate is $6000 to machine the cams as there are metal shavings in my oil. I had to again rent a rental vehicle and have not had my truck for a week. This is the third mechanic that has seen multiple of these motors have to be replaced or repaired due to this issue. I kept up on my oil changes and other recommended car maintenance and so did the owner before me. I had my last oil change approx. a week before the loud ticking noise began, then my vehicle began to have a noticeable loss of power when driving and eventually began shuttering and my check engine light began to blink and I took it to the shop. A year ago I had to replace my tail lights. I was able to find where others were recalled by my VIN for some reason was not included in the recall. They started shorting out and working only part of the time which is very dangerous when stopping, especially at night. I had them replaced and paid almost $700 for the two back lights.
My 5 children and I experience a traumatic experience in afternoon traffic as my 2015 GMC Yukon failed to pick up speed while waiting to make a left turn at a traffic light. The vehicle - no matter how hard I pressed on the gas didn't accelerate immediately which almost cost an accident. The vehicle rode smoothly for a few minutes then out of nowhere - it started jerking and stuttering bad for 15 seconds or so then would go back to riding smooth. When pressing the brakes - it seems to "lock" to a certain extent, so I have to press really hard on the brake to slow down/stop the vehicle sometimes makes a strange noise when doing so. I took the vehicle to be accessed by a service center in my area - it was at that time that I was told that my vehicle issues are known common GMC issues in these vehicles & more unfortunately. It's unfair to be penalized with an expensive transmission repair when these issues are known to the manufacture but not the consumer - despite being "VIN specific" as told by GMC customer service. This vehicle is needed as it is utilized to transport my children however, it's unsafe at & parked in my driveway. I was directed to reach out to GMC for remedy of the identified issues.
Consuming a lot of oil, makes a funny clicking noise sometimes when accelerations, had lil pieces of metal in my oil, Transmisson problems, 1 front headlight and all rear tail lights went out, trailer brake system would come on and go off now it won’t stop dinging and makes a whole bunch of other lights come on (trailer brake system, park assist, low brake fluid, traction control, collision) dings some much I can’t drive it. Called a gm shop near me and they told me it would cost a whole bunch for each diagnosis for every warning that came on.
Vehicle had lifter and valve noise Lifters and valves became stuck due to Active Fuel Management system failure Transmission shifted poorly due to this condition. Resulting in engine failure and engine replacement at my expense Total cost $12,000
Driving at a normal speed around 30 mph when vehicle suddenly becomes hard to steer as if the power steering just cut out or off therefore making it extremely difficult to control the vehicle and felt like a rough ride while this is taking place.....Definitely sounds like a safety issue......DASH READING WARNING SERVICE PWWR STEERING
Today my GMC Yukon, lurked forward so hard it hurt my neck, shoulders, and back, I know this is dangerous and has happened before, the lurches are becoming more forceful and powerful and I'm afraid now of driving it far or distance, I don't want anything to happen to me or my family while driving, I must be able to get to appointments etc. This today scares me really bad and I need help with this vehicle...Had I not braked quick I would have been in the pond in front of me the lurk was hard pain shot from back to neck and I went forward, had on my seat belt loges...If not better in the morning I will seek medical attention, I'm really hurting...GMC said noting wrong on both occasions I asked when it was mild in 2019, again 2023, nothing...no...also no warning lights are on
Transmission failure. Remanufactured transmission installed at 160,000 miles. Transmission started shifting abruptly and failed completely on interstate 26 in South Carolina. Had to limp home in a lower gear. Towed to a repair shop for complete replacement with a remanufactured GM transmission Total repair $4500. No warning indication of the problem, thankfully my wife was not driving this vehicle at the time. No inspection except by mechanic who stated based on his experience we got 10,000 miles more than normal for a GM 6L80 transmission. He also stated his shop replaced 5 of those transmissions in the month of August 2022. Documentation available on request.
There was recall for N182180270 Tail Lamps Inoperative, for some reason my vehicle being a 2015 was not included. This issue is ongoing with my 2015 Yukon Denali and is dangerous while operating, it recently started and is intermittent. Also my vehicle has issues with hard shifting and jerking intermittently when taking off.... also a known issue for this year and make/ model of vehicle
Transmission Code P0700 and P0796 ( pressure control) I was on the Interstate and my 2015 GMC YUKON SLT Engine locked up and shift down to 2nd gear. Causing other cars to almost hit me from behind and possibly causing an accident. I had to quickly veer off on the side of the road so that they wouldn’t hit the back of me. Immediately my engine light came on. Didn’t have this problem prior to the breakdown. Brought it to GMC dealership they told me my torque converter was bad along with Computer TCM and Valve body. They said I need a new transmission. My SUV have 132k miles. I called around at other transmission shops and they ALL said they are getting 3-4 GMC YUKONS in to fix a week and knew exactly what the problem was with SUV. They couldn’t understand why GMC wasn’t correcting the problem. Also, last year had to replace the Cam Shaft, Lifters and Catalytic Convertor that’s was $6000 now they tell me $5500 for Transmission. That’s $12000+ in repair in lease than 1.5 years. Never have I had this much major problem on a vehicle. This is a major safety issue especially on interstate.
Transmission failure at 167,000 miles. Transmission failed during a 100 mile trip initially slipping and eventually would not engage. Vehicle traveled on I 26 and could have resulted in accident on this 80 mph interstate. This vehicle is typically driven by my wife. No warning and GM Onstar provided vehicle diagnostic check in days prior to failure with no issues. Technician advised this was the 3rd vehicle this month in his shop with 6L80e transmission failure and said they normally fail around 150,000 miles. This is a known failure on numerous general motors vehicles across the product line. Repair required replacement of 6l80e transmission with a factory rebuilt transmission. Cost $4,100.
At certain speeds my vehicle vibrates, like a grinding sound at speeds between 50-55. This is a safety risk because I have children and grandchild that frequently ride with me. I have taken my vehicle back to the dealership and they say it is no codes and send it back to me without fixing the problem. My vehicle has not been inspected by anyone except the GM dealership. I got my vehicle Nov. 2018 and this started happening between Dec. 2018 and Jan. 2019. My check engine light did appear and was flashing around this time. In 2019 I had to replace the rear shocks and I believe they are not working properly now.
PURCHASED A 2015 YUKON DENALI BACK IN NOVEMBER 2019. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, TRANSMISSION, AC COMPRESSOR AND EXPANSION VALVE (WHICH STILL ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T BLOW COLD AIR), AND THE BLACK PANELS THAT ARE IN BETWEEN THE WINDOWS. ALSO, BOTH TAIL LIGHTS HAVE DECIDED TO QUIT WORKING.... WHICH CONCERNS ME GREATLY BECAUSE CARS BEHIND ME DON'T KNOW WHEN I AM STOPPED OR APPLYING THE BREAKS. STOPPED OR HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BREAK.

CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE AND COMBUSTED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. CAR WAS EXPLODING AND ENGULFED IN FLAMES...COMPLETELY DESTROYED VIA FIRE AND THE WORST DAMAGE WAS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNKNOWN ALTHOUGH BASED ON RESEARCH SOUNDS LIKE NHTSA CAMPAIGN #14V007000 OR 14V152000. FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE.

BRAKES DON'T WORK WELL WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. STOPPING REQUIRES BRAKES TO BE PRESSED TO THE GROUND AND STILL MAY NOT STOP. I HAVE ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS EVEN AFTER HAVING THE ISSUE 'REPAIRED' LAST YEAR. I'VE HAD THE PROBLEM ASSESSED AT 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS. I HAVE HAD TO THROW MY CAR INTO PARK TO AVOID HITTING CARS IN FRONT OF ME. BRAKES FAIL WHILE DRIVING IN PLACES SUCH AS TRAFFIC JAMS, DRIVE THRU, SCHOOL PICK UP, ETC. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND FEAR THAT MY CHILDREN MAY BE HURT IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. STEERING BECOMES NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE WHEN THE BRAKE ISSUES OCCUR. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 1.5- 2 YEARS. ALSO, THE TAIL LIGHTS CONTINUE TO GO OUT EVEN AFTER PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPLACEMENTS.

ON REPEATED OCCASIONS (FROM 2015 TO 2019) I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS AND SUDDEN JERKING MOTIONS. THE TRANSMISSION AND SPEED CONTROLS ARE UNPREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS. THIS IS HAZARDOUS AND MAY RESULT IN A LOSS OF CONTROL. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES INCLUDING A STUCK CALIPER AT APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES. I REPORTED THESE ISSUES AND NUMEROUS OTHER ISSUES TO GMC CORPORATE, TUSTIN BUICK GMC ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND THINGS ARE SATISFACTORY AND SAFE. THE 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY GMC YUKON DENALI HAS A SLIPPAGE ISSUE THAT HAS PERSISTED IN OUR VEHICLE FOR A WHILE UNRESOLVED. GM HAS REPLACED TORQUE CONVERTER, MODULE AND NOW THEY ARE CLAIMING THROUGH DEALER THAT THE ISSUE RESIDES WITH AT FLUID. THIS SLIPPAGE IS BAD BECAUSE CAR JERKS AND SOMETIMES HARD. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM AS THEY KNOW THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS 8 SPEED AT. THE ISSUE HAPPENS AT STOPS AND AT SLOW SPEEDS.

TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED 2X. 3RD DEALER PROVIDED GMC TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN "#99-04-20-002I: INFORMATION ON DRIVE TRAIN CLUNK NOISE - (NOV 18, 2014)" AND TOLD IT'S 'NORMAL OPERATION' AND IS DUE TO DRIVETRAIN 'LASH' (AKA GEAR SLOP OR PLAY). PAID $150 TO BE TOLD "CUSTOMER CONCERN NOT DUPLICATED AT THIS TIME". SIMPLY FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE AS THE OPERATIONS AS DESCRIBED ARE READILY APPARENT. IN ALL SERIOUSNESS: (1) THE SUDDEN JERKING/SLAMMING OF GEARS ON ACCELERATION HAS BEEN NOTICE BY SEVERAL PASSENGERS NOT JUST MYSELF, (2) THE ACCELERATION ON DOWNSHIFTING IS A HUGE LIABILITY AS THE INCREASED POSSIBILITY OF REAR END COLLISION IS SIGNIFICANT AND (3) NO WAY IS IT 'NORMAL' OPERATION.

TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN CLUNKY AND JERKY FROM FROM PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE VIBRATES BETWEEN 30 - 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD WHEN ACCELERATING AS IF IT HAS DIFFICULTY DOWN-SHIFTING. THE PROBLEM IS PRESENT FROM SIMPLY BACKING UP OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, MODEST SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS, OR ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND "REFRESHED" THE SOFTWARE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT GONE AWAY AND DID NOT IMPROVE BY THIS SOFTWARE CORRECTION. MY INTERNET RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NEW 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION FOR THE 2015 YUKON DENALI AND CADILLAC ESCALADE.
WHEN APPROACHING A TOLL BOOTH ON THE MASS TURNPIKE,WITH SEVERAL LANES MERGING, WITH THE VEHICLE ALMOST STOPPED,IT DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR AND IN THE PROCESS LURCHED FORWARD EXTREMELY VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT I ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE CAR MERGING IN FRONT OF ME-PROBABLY STOPPED SHORT BY SIX INCHES OR LESS !!!

OUR VEHICLE HAS A SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION IN V4 MODE WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 45-65 MPH AND ABOVE. THE VIBRATION IS ALSO ACCOMPANIED BY INCREASED CABIN PRESSURE. THESE ISSUES ARE CAUSING HEADACHES, NAUSEA, DIZZINESS, AND ARE FURTHER EXACERBATING MY WIFE'S MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. WE ALSO HAVE A POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE'S SUSPENSION WHEN TURNING THAT MAKES US FEEL UNSAFE. THE VIBRATION STARTED RIGHT AFTER WE TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR AND HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL 2015 AND THE ISSUE CONTINUES UNFIXED TO THIS DAY. THE POPPING NOISE STARTED ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS AGO AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A SUSPENSION COMPONENT. OUR AC RECIRCULATING FEATURE ALSO DOES NOT WORK AND IT ALLOWS HARMFUL EXHAUST SMOKE IN.

VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY 2015 YUKON XLT. THE VEHICLE'S GEAR SHIFTED TO A NEUTRAL OF VERY LOW GEAR (NOT VERY SURE) AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A LONG HILL NEAR BIRMINGHAM, AL. IT FELT LIKE IT WENT TO FIRST GEAR, BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN, ALMOST FELT LIKE THE GEAR WAS GRINDING. THE TRUCK DID NOT CATCH BACK INTO NORMAL GEAR UNTIL THE VEHICLE LEVELED BACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. (IT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY AND WORRISOME EVER SINCE THEN, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY.

I HAVE A 2015 YUKON DENALI AND I WAS DRIVING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. A WARNING MESSAGE SAID ENGINE POWER FAILURE. I HAD 4 CARS AND AN 18 WHEELER BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. I MANAGED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ONTO A MEDIAN. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STARTED TRYING SAY IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN BAD GAS. THEN I WAS TOLD I CRACKED VALVE AND THEY ALREADY HAD ONE OTHER JUST LIKE THIS, THEN 1 DAY LATER AFTER A TECH LEVEL 2 AND A SHOP FORUM LOOKED AT IT, AND A CONVERSATION WITH A GM PAC REP, GM APPROVED A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT! I WAS SHOCKED. I'VE HAD THE SAME 4-WHEEL DRIVE ISSUES EVERYONE ELSE HAS. I'VE ALSO HAD A/C PROBLEMS, STEER WHEEL POPPING NOISES, SUNROOF LOUD WIND NOISES. MY SEAT SHIFTS WHEN I DRIVE IT. THE A/C SEATS DON'T COOL PROPERLY, WHICH I FOUND OUT WHEN THEY PUT ME IN A LOANER YUKON THAT WORKED FINE. THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE ALSO DIDN'T WORK FOR 2 DAYS, WHICH I HAVE A PICTURE OF AND RECEIVED A WARNING TICKET FOR WHEN I WAS PULLED OVER BY AN OFFICER NOT KNOWING WHAT SPEED I WAS GOING. I PASSENGER STEP GUARD DOESN'T ALWAYS RETRACT PROPERLY. MY UNIT WAS PURCHASE MAY 2014 AND WAS ONE OF THE FIRST 4 X 4 UNITS THAT WAS PRODUCED AND HAS HAD CONSTANT PROBLEMS. GM KEEPS DENYING A BUYBACK, THEN NO TRADE ASSISTANCE, THEN NOW HAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE I HAVE IS NOT SAFE FOR MY FAMILY TO BE RIDING IN. I CAN'T TRADE IT IN OR SELL IT TO ANYONE ELSE KNOWING THE PROBLEMS IT HAS. THE DEALER WON'T EVEN TAKE IT BECAUSE THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE DEALING WITH. *TR

THEIR FIX AT THIS POINT IS TO HAVE YOU RUN THE VEHICLE IN 2WD MODE WHICH IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE DURING OUR WINTER MONTHS AS IT IS THEN A REAR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN ON ICY ROADS.THE OTHER FIX IS TO RUN IT IN 4WD MODE BUT TURN IT INTO 2WD MODE EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. OBVIOUSLY, MANY DRIVERS WILL FORGET TO DO THIS AND THEREFORE MY FAMILY AT TIMES IS JUST RUNNING IT IN 2WD MODE THEREBY INCURRING A RISKY DRIVING SITUATION. WHEN LIABILITY WAS BROUGHT UP, THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY. THERE IS A LARGER ISSUE AS WAS RELAYED BY ENGINEER TO SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALERSHIP. ISSUE IS WITH ALL 2015 TAHOE, YUKON, ESCALADES. IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT ROLL OVERS, THEY DESIGNED THE FRAME AND BODY MOUNTS TOO STIFF. THERE ARE 40 ENGINEERS WORKING ON ISSUES, THEY HAVE NO SOLUTIONS THAT WORK ACROSS THE BOARD. ACCORDING TO ENGINEER, GM IS KEEPING AN EYE ON HOW MANY UNITS THEY HAVE TO BUY BACK, OR TRADE FOR ... IF NUMBER IS LOW ENOUGH, THEY WILL NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO DESIGN. HE SAID THE 4WD LIGHT WAS NOT ON AND HE ONLY FELT A LITTLE BIT OF A ROUGH RIDE WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE STATE OF VIRGINIA DOES NOT HAVE A LEMON LAW, WHICH HE BACK TRACKED AFTER I CALLED HIM ON IT. OTHER PROBLEMS WITH CAR. NAV/RADIO/BACKUP CAMERA WENT BLANK ON NOV. 4TH. A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE ON THE CAR THE FIRST TIME, ONLY RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR A FEW WEEKS, THE ISSUE RE-OCCURRED AFTER 3 WEEKS. WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE ON THE DASH GIVES THE MESSAGE "SERVICE 4WD". THE CAR HAS A TRANSMISSION BUTTON TO CHANGE FROM 2WD, AUTO, 4 HIGH AND 4 LOW. I DO NOT TOUCH THIS BUTTON, I JUST LEAVE THE CAR IN AUTO AND DRIVE. I DO NOT TOW ANYTHING, THIS IS JUST A FAMILY CAR USED FOR COMMUTING. WHEN THE "SERVICE 4WD' MESSAGE APPEARS, THE CAR IS BARELY DRIVABLE. WHEN IT IS PUT IN REVERSE, THE CAR JUST BRAKES AFTER A FEW FEET, AS IF THE PARKING BRAKE WERE ON, BUT IT OBVIOUS IS NOT ENGAGED. WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT, THE CAR BRAKES MID-TURN AND WILL ONLY COMPLETE THE TURN IF 3/4 TO FULL ACCELERATOR IS APPLIED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE TURN. THE CAR SLIGHTLY BUCKS THROUGH THE TURN AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS DIFFERENT AND HAS LITTLE POWER GOING AROUND CORNERS AND GOING UP HILLS. THE CAR CANNOT SAFELY BE DRIVEN IN A STRAIGHT LINE FASTER THAN 40-50 MPH. I TELEPHONED ONSTAR AND DIAGNOSTICS WERE RUN DURING BOTH OCCURRENCES WITH THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE FROM ONSTAR DIAGNOSTICS: "THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAS AN ISSUE- TRANSFER CASE MODULE NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED". WHEN WILL GM ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE LETTING MY WIFE AND CHILD IN THE CAR IF IT BRAKES BY ITSELF, LOSES POWER AND CANNOT COMPLETE TURNS.
