Lag bolts that connect the frame to the wall are coming out/ or were never put in place. Wall is separating from the frame and can see to the outside from the inside. If we had not seen this these bolts could have come all the way out causing the wall the separate while driving. Unknown at this time if there is any frame damage. Grand Design 2022 Momentum 381m

The contact owns a 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 used to haul a 2022 Grand Design Momentum RV. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the interior bedroom cabinets shifted and were rubbing against the wall. On another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact pulled over and noticed that the 8-inch gap between the RV and the bed of the vehicle was no longer there and the RV was sitting on the bed of the vehicle. The contact stated that on another occasion, while parked, the contact became aware that the running lights were inoperable. The contact stated that on another occasion he observed that the bedroom baseboards were separating from the wall and there was a crack running along the side of the wall. The contact inspected the outside of the RV and noticed that the driver’s side wall was bulging and had a diagonal crack. The RV was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was frame damage due to poor design. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2022 Grand Design Momentum RV. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the camper was bouncing up and down. Due to the failure, the furniture detached from the wall. In addition, the bedroom floor fractured and pieces of the floor were separated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was advised to take the camper to a dealer in North Carolina, a six-hour drive away. The dealer determined that the failure was the result of nine lag bolts that were missing from the camper frame. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect. The camper was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the pin box shifted downward, and the main slide on the passenger's side fractured and shifted down towards the ground and the furniture detached away from the wall. The main bedroom floor was fractured and sagging. The contact stated that while the RV was hitched and traveling, the main door unlatched and opened. Additionally, the garage door was bowed due to the failure of the frame. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to take the camper back to the dealer. The contact requested the manufacturer to buy the camper back, however the request was denied.

DUE TO EXTREME FRAME FLEX, THE WELDS IN THE FRONT OF MY COACH BROKE AWAY FROM THE METAL. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ONLY THING HOLDING MY 44' TOY HAULER ON MY TRUCK WAS THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SKIN OF THE COACH. I WAS HORRIFIED TO FIND THAT I WAS DRIVING MY COACH UNDER THESE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS CAUSING EXTREME RISK TO MY FAMILY AND THOSE ON THE ROAD. TO BE CLEAR, THIS FAILURE ONLY SHOWED ITSELF WITH ONLY MINOR SYMPTOMS TO AN UNTRAINED EYE. AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS ONLINE, I REALIZED THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR EVERYONE CONCERNED

Multiple systems failed on this unit. Trailer Brake failure—The rear trailer brake wires were discovered to be severed inside the wheel drum from the factory. For the first year of use they were inoperable. This was suspected and confirmed with a thermal camera. The tow vehicle also alarmed “Check trailer brakes” while driving. A dealer inspected them and found the wires severed. This was repaired. Suspension failure—the rear driver side leaf spring broke on a paved highway 9 months after purchase. Pulled over immediately to inspect the issue and repair it. On 2 other separate occasions, we found broken wet bolts (after the unit was sitting in one place, unmoved for weeks). Also a cracked equalizer was replaced under warranty within the first year. The front passenger side leafspring also broke on an empty unit. Frame Failure & opening baggage compartment doors, slide out backing out in transit—symptoms of excessive upperdeck flex and frame failure began immediately upon purchase. Baggage compartment doors frequently open in transit. This has been a significant safety risk to the operator as well as other drivers. On more than one occasion the doors open in dense traffic in the middle of a city with nowhere to safely pull over. None of the contents of the compartment has fallen out to our knowledge, but could very easily fall out since none of the doors can be adequately secured. One door was replaced, but the issue not resolved. Upon further inspection, there were severely broken welds in the frame of the unit. The unit has sustained over 22 hours of welding on it to repair and reinforce the damaged frame. However, this has been repaired a total of 3 separate times. There is no guarantee that the repairs will hold moving forward. Also a result of the broken frame, the slide out began backing out in transport. Before leaving, the slide out was fully retracted and measured. Upon arrival the slide would be backed out 0.5-1” from the pre-departure measuremen

This unit is suffering from frame failure. Cargo doors have started opening on the freeway, cabinets are rubbing the wallpaper from frame flex, the forward floor has started squeaking, the forward lower exterior trim panel on the drivers' side is buckling, the forward walls have started creaking and popping when hitching up/unhitching and the pin-box "sinks" more than it ever did in the past when hitching up. I am very worried since these are all symptoms of frame failure. I've taken the unit to an authorized Grand Design repair center and so far, am not getting any support from Grand Design to actually fix the frame, the root cause for all of these symptoms. I'm worried if I accept the trailer and continue to use it, the problem will progress and we could end up with a complete failure while on the freeway.

The front frame has been in for repairs before for flexing issues/excessive movement. We have had a door pop open during travel and suspension parts break (hanger and leaf spring) in 2 separate incidents. The frame appears to have further issues on the passenger side more recently.

The RV has significant frame failure that Grand Design (the manufacturer) is ignoring. I noticed my floors warping and a cabinet crack. There was also some cracking of the fiberglass. I asked the dealership to check it out. The found that the frame is warped, multiple lagbolts are missing and several welds have popped. The RV is unsafe and not road worthy. Grand Design is aware of this issue and has yet to issue a recall or notify owners of the significant structural defect they caused by undersizing the frame and using the wrong lagbolts.

Frame not strong enough to support full GVWR. Result. Frame flexing excessively which can lead to frame failure and separation from the vehicle on the highway endangering everyone. Manufacturer has done their recommended fix on my rv but they have a history of ineffective repairs. So far my rv hasn’t been on the road enough since first repair to know if it will hold.

I was towing my 5th wheel RV when I noticed doors I locked were swinging open. I noticed the rear toy hauler door first. The plastic screen door cover was missing and was unable to be found. A few miles later I noticed the front underbelly storage area on the passenger side was swinging open. Some power tools fell out and were unable to be found. A few hundred miles later the propane door unlatched and was swinging open. I closed and proceeded on route. My Lippert frame is flexing causing these locked doors to open mid travel, losing personal belonging in the middle of the interstate. Later that trip I noticed my front bedroom slide-out was moving out on one side (driver) After pulling over and attempting to pull it in, the slide would not pull in. It was sticking out about 8" off the side of the walls of the RV. Lastly I noticed my pin box was at a hard angle when traveling. It appears that something on the frame to the pin box is not secure. The RV needs to be inspected by the manufacturer as soon as possible to prevent major casualty.

We live and travel full time in a 2022 Grand Design Momentum model 376THS. Screws and bolts holding the front opposing schwintek slides are breaking or backing out of the slide frame every time we travel, the front floors are squeaking and getting worse, the front cap developed stress cracks and was repaired one year ago - they have now reappeared and there are several more stress cracks visible on the front cap, the front side storage doors are coming OPEN DURING travel, we have lost items on the road from these areas, they are always locked closed before we travel. I believe this maybe be caused by a flexing coach frame.

Upper deck failure ( side pod door opens when in transit, front of trailer at king pin mounting flexing when in transit, king pin mounting hits truck bed rails when turning, bedroom floor buckling, bed rollers leave indentations in bedroom floor closet door not plumb and will not lock when disconnected from truck, front wall height changes when connected to truck, trim and panels coming loose in transit. ). Wall to frame mounting has loose, missing and wrong size lag bolts. Inspection is available upon request. Door popping open in transit is a safety hazard for myself and everyone on the road. The vehicle has been to two different dealerships and the representatives at both mentioned frame issues as part of the problem. The first issues were noted at 2,000 miles on 9-19-2021

I am experiencing what I believe to be a frame issue. When I take the weight of the 5th wheel off the landing gear and transfer to the 5th wheel pin I see lots of movement and hear a lot of popping and cracking noise. My floor above the 5th wheel hitch is now squeaking badly and there is a nail that has pushed through the flooring. I have broken screw in my slide out and the sealant is showing signs of movement. The trim cover sealant is pulling away so I believe the whole front of my 5th wheel is moving. My concern is this is getting to the point it maybe unsafe to pull down the highway. This appears to be a rising concern with Grand Design and Lipert frames as there is now a TSB sent out for inspection instructions.

The contact owns a 2022 Grand Design Momentum. The contact stated that the RV was purchased brand new and taken to the residence, where the contact noticed that the front driver's side nose had detached at the fifth wheel pin location. The RV was taken to the dealer, where it was repaired; however, the failure recurred while the RV was still at the dealer. The RV was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the sliding doors were not opening and closing properly due to the frame flexing. The contact stated that the suspension was fractured and was making abnormal popping and creaking sounds. The contact stated that the washing machine was leaking water. The contact also stated that there was excessive propane consumption. The dealer determined that the propane was leaking through the rear of the refrigerator and another point of leak was identified. The contact later received an email from the Grand Design RV CEO advising that the frame warranty had been extended to 5 years. The contact stated that the Extended Warranty repairs included installing braces, bolts, and welding the frame. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 700.

Frame flex causing other issues. broken wet bolts, slide operation, awning hanging up, wall seperation, screws coming up through the floor, storage door popping open going down the road. RV was evaluated by a Grand Design SRT and returned to Grand Design service center for repair in December 2023. Traded unit for a new RV in Florida in March 2024.

VIN: [XXX] 2022 Grand Design Momentum 395ms has frame failure and welds are breaking, cabinets slowly dislodging from interior walls. Also, not in my case yet but many have their pin boxes coming loose while driving down U.S. roadways. This is a danger to owners and others on the road if they finally break. Grand Design's Service Response Team came out to verify our frame failure and said it is just within tolerance but it is happening and that we needed to take it back to Grand Design to get it repaired as soon as possible. I have an [XXX] appointment to get it fixed but this is a much bigger problem for others with more serious frame failure. There are also people that have taken their RVs back a second time because repairs were not done correctly. They apparently are trying to get people to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements before repairs are made. The parent company Winnebago and Grand Design know this happening to other Grand Design 5th wheel owners people with 5th wheels. The bolts holding the walls to the frames are coming loose. Frame started to flex excessively in the king-pin area and on the inside, above the king-pin area. Issue was confirmed by independent RV dealer. The movement exceeded Lipperts stated limits for the frame to flex. After consulting with Grand Design and Lippert, instructed to take RV to local Grand Design dealer for further inspection and repair. Dealer found broken welds on the frame, broken bolts attaching side wall to frame, and missing bolts intended to attach wall to frame. After authorization by Grand Design and Lippert, Lippert send repair tech Onsight to repair. Broken welds were repaired with additional steel added to frame and missing/broken bolts replaced.
