Car goes into like a safety mode and does not accelerate when given gas. Car also will not go past 40mph. We see there is a recall for this issue for 2015 Honda accords but vin says it does not apply for this recall even though we are having the exact issue.

While driving on interstate highway at normal speed (55-60 mph), all dash warning lamps lit up and i could hear a rattling sound and saw white smoke coming out of exhaust/back of car. Luckily i was able to safely pull car over as engine failed. I checked underneath car to see if anything was loose and did not notice anything. My car needed to be towed since engine was dead. Independent mechanic confirmed that engine rod bolts blew out and an entirely new engine was needed. All proper maintenance was completed and car was running fine with no warning lights or sounds/problems noticed prior to time of incident.

Hello, I turned my car on and saw the engine emissions system warning, which I’ve never seen before. I thought the cold front or sudden temperature change in my city had something to do with it & it would go away because my car is well maintained(all services done at Honda dealership). I was driving on the freeway about 75 mph and all of a sudden my car stops accelerating. I floored the gas pedal but it was only going about 30 mph(felt weak or like it was operating on battery only) this is when the “engine cooling system problem” and “engine temperature too hot” warnings started flashing. The car behind me almost hit me, other cars were passing & honking at me, I was holding up traffic so I got in the emergency lane. While in the emergency lane I had to turn my car on an off about 6 times for it to work normally for about 5/10 minutes before it would start stalling or the acceleration would stop working(this would happen when the coolant warning started flashing) until I got home. I was confused on why the car wasn’t accelerating like normal because I had more than half a gas tank left & my coolant has been replaced. The next day I turn on my car and it’s perfectly normal-no warnings. I took it to the Honda services and showed them the video I took of the warnings because I was scared and felt unsafe driving it, but they told me to bring it back when the warning lights turn back on the dashboard. It was Normal for about a week, then the warning lights popped back up and it would start stalling/not accelerate again. I constantly had to turn my car off and on driving to Honda services. They told me nothing is wrong with the coolant, they did a diagnostic test on it and said it’s the Computer module/electrical interference causing the warning lights/pumps not to not work. I believe it’s the hybrid propulsion system recall 15V602000, I have a 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid but my VIN is not recalled? Is there anyway to add my vin to the recall? Please and thank you.

TAKATA RECALL: WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON STATING: "EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM & ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM PROBLEM." THIS SOMEHOW TRIGGER A SAFE FAIL MODE THAT PROHIBITS THE CAR GOING FASTER THAN APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, IT SHOWED DTC P2602 STORED FOR ELECTRIC WATER PUMP LOW VOLTAGE. THEY WERE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP PERFORMANCE AND IT CLEARED THE CODE. BUT WITHIN 24 HOURS, THE DTC RETURNS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T BE ABLE GO FASTER THAN 40 MILES PER HOUR..

2015 HONDA ACCORD GOT CALLED IN FOR RECALL DEALING WITH BATTERY GOING INTO FAILSAFE MODE AND CAUSES CAUSED ENGINE TO STALL THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED IT MADE MATTERS WORST.THE P2602 SENSOR COOLANT PUMP SENSOR NOW SHOWS ON DASH EMISSION PROBLEMS .HONDA SERVICE DEPT NOW WANTS IS TO REPLACE PUMP A HEFTY 900 DOLLAR JOB THAT'S OBVIOUSLY A FACTORY DEFECT.

DUE TO HONDA USING SOY BASED WIRING, RODENTS CHEWED THROUGH THE WIRING IN OUR ENGINE AREA AND IN THE UNDERSIDE OF OUR HOOD AREA. REQUIRED REPAIR OF OVER $3000 AT FOLSOM LAKE HONDA. HONDA KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM... WHY NO RECALL? THEY SHOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS. THEY ARE SELLING RODENT PROOF TAPE AT DEALER OR SUGGEST PUTTING DRYER SHEETS IN OUR ENGINE AREA??!,, I BELIEVE CLASS ACTION SUIT HAS BEGUN IN CALIFORNIA. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ENTERED FAIL SAFE MODE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL AND THE VEHICLE TO ENTER BATTERY MODE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE PATCH; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO START THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

WHILE DRIVING MY HONDA ACCORD 2015 ON INTERSTATE 75 IN THE LEFT LANE, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT THERE WAS A POWER SYSTEM FAILURE, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST ALL POWER. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WAS STILL LIT AND THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR COULD ONLY COAST. I CHECKED TRAFFIC AND CHANGED LANES TO THE FAR RIGHT EMERGENCY PULL OFF. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND THE POWER SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING WAS GONE BUT THEN A BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON. THE CAR DID TRAVEL FOWARD WITH GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE SEEMED TO WORK SO I STAYED IN EMERGENCY LANE AND PROCEEDED TO CLOSET EXIT OFF I75. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE BUT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME. WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED ALL THE WARNINGS WERE CLEAR. I TOOK IT THE A HONDA DEALER AND ASK FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. HONDA SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT IF I WAS DRIVING WITH BOTH FEET (ONE ON GAS AND ONE ON BRAKE) THAT LOSS OF POWER. I WAS NOT DRIVING WITH BOTH FEET, SO I ASKED HIM TO RUN A DIAGNOSTICS SO I FELT SAFE ENOUGH TO DRIVE HOME. THE DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED AN UPDATE THAT WAS PERFORMED BY SERVICE. I READ THE PAPERWORK ON THE DIAGNOSITCS AND THERE WAS A STATEMENT THAT DESCRIBED MY INCIDENT COMPLETELY WITH SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. MY CAR IS NOT ON A RECALL LIST. HONDA SEEMED TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO FIX, BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY CAR NEEDED AN UPDATE RESULTING IN POWER SYSTEM FAILURE. WHY WAS THIS INFORMATION NOT COMMUNICATED TO THE OWNERS OF THESE CARS? FOR A BRAND NEW CAR TO BE ABLE TO DISPLAY ALL KINDS OF INFORMATION (IE, OIL LIFE, RANGE OF MILES, TIME FOR SERVICE) WHY CAN NOT THE CAR DISPLAY THAT ITS COMPUTER NEEDS AN UPDATE AND TO TAKE IN FOR SERVICE? THERE WAS NO INJURY THANKFULLY, BUT EASILY THIS COULD HAVE HAPPEN, I WAS JUST LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WAS NOT GOING UPHILL.

I WAS COMMUTING TO WORK, DRIVING ON A MAJOR, HIGH-TRAFFIC HIGHWAY IN THE HIGH-OCCUPANCY VEHICLE LANE, WHEN WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, SAYING THERE WAS A POWER SYSTEM PROBLEM, A BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND SOME PROBLEM WITH ELEVATED TEMPERATURE THAT MEANT POWER WAS BEING REDUCED. I PUT ON MY FLASHER, HOPING TO MAKE MY WAY ACROSS THREE LANES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TO PULL OFF ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. BUT I HAD NO POWER AT ALL. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A SHOULDER TO THE LEFT WHERE I COULD PULL OFF. (DESPITE THE WARNING, THE BRAKES SEEMED OKAY.) THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND IT WAS PURE LUCK THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS "A COMMON PROBLEM" WITH THE ACCORD HYBRID AND THAT HONDA HAD ISSUED A SOFTWARE FIX THAT SHOULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. IF THIS IS TRUE, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL SO OWNERS WILL BECOME AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND CAN GET IT FIXED RATHER THAN WAITING UNTIL POWER FAILURES AND ACCIDENTS OCCUR.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 78 MPH, THE WARNING MESSAGE FOR THE POWER FAILURE, BRAKE FAILURE, OVERHEATED POWERING DOWN DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED AND CAUSED CONFLICT BETWEEN HYBRID VOLTAGE AND ENGINE VOLTAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGH WAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID "POWER SYSTEM FAIL" AND I LOST THE ABILITY TO USE THE ACCELERATOR. I STAYED CALM BECAUSE THERE WERE CARS ALL AROUND ME AND I BEGAN TO COAST AND USE MOMENTUM TO DRIFT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THEN A SECOND LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID 'BRAKE SYSTEM POWER FAIL". I TAPPED THE BREAK AND IT SEEMED TO WORK BUT I CONTINUED TO COAST DOWN THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I RAN OUT OF MOMENTUM. I THEN TURNED MY BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD EXL HYBRID OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON BUT THE ACCELORATOR WAS WORKING SO I DROVE THE CAR TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE AREA ON THE HIGHWAY. I THEN CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE WHO TOLD ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. HE SAID THAT I MUST HAVE BROKEN A BELT. WHY HE SAID OR THOUGHT THAT HE COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FROM A CALL CENTER I'M NOT SURE. IT WAS OVER 100 DEGREES SO I DID NOT LISTEN TO THE MAN FROM HONDA BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HOT AND NOT SAFE FOR ME TO SIT IN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT AIR. I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK WHICH COST ME $250 EVEN THOUGH ITS A BRAND NEW CAR AND I HAVE HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. MY HUSBAND CAME AND MET ME WHERE THE TOW LEFT ME. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO OUR DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING AND THE COMPUTER DOES NOT SHOW THAT ANYTHING HAPPENED. IT WAS SO SCARY AND DANGEROUS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THEY SAY THAT THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG. THEY EVEN ASKED ME IF I ACCIDENTALLY TURNED THE CAR OFF WHILE DRIVING?!?!?! THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE!!!! I JUST FOUND THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT FROM ANOTHER HONDA DRIVER ON HERE WHICH ALSO SHOWS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND SOMETHING IS WRONG. AS A WOMAN WHO CHOSE THIS CAR BECAUSE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SO RELIABLE AND SAFE I AM SO UPSET. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT MY VEHICLE IS SAFE.

I WAS TRAVELING N/B ON I-95 IN THE LAUREL, MD AREA WHEN THE DASH BOARD DISPLAYED WARNINGS THAT THE CAR WAS OVER HEATING, BRAKING SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND REDUCING POWER. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY. I FELT THE IMMINENT DANGER OF HAVING TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS DRIVING BY WITH SPEEDS IN EXCESS 75MPH, AS MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN. I SINCERELY FEEL THAT A GUARDIAN ANGEL WAS LOOKING OVER ME, ALLOWING ME FIND A BREAK IN TRAFFIC AND EXIT THE ROADWAY. ITS FRIGHTENING TO THINK OF THE OUTCOME IF I WERE UNABLE TO EXIT THIS HIGHWAY SAFELY. THIS 2015 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID WAS PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2015. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE FIRST EXTENDED ROAD TRIP ON THE HIGHWAY. I WILL NOT JEOPARDIZED MY LIFE, OR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY BY OPERATING THIS NEW VEHICLE EVER AGAIN. HONDA CORPORATION NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION BEFORE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES UNNECESSARILY. A NEW CAR THAT SHUTS DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY, OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE ANYTIME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT MY CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS AT 60 TO 70 MPH. IT HAPPENS WHEN COASTING NOT BRAKING. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WARNING FOR THE BRAKES COMES ON AND THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. THE CAR WILL COAST AND BRAKE BUT THERE IS NO POWER. IT TAKES 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOU CAN TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESET. OTHERWISE THE CAR IS LOCKED OUT AND WILL NOT FUNCTION. TODAY I WAS ON I75 GOING 70 MPH WITH TRUCKS ALL AROUND. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN RESPONSIVE BUT THE FIRST TIME THEY RAN THE CODES ETC THE NATIONAL HONDA FOLKS HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITH THE SAME ISSUE. FIRST WAS AT ABOUT 2500 MILES.
