This Problem Across All Years
On three different occasions earlier this year 2025, my car electric system would completely shut down. My safety was put at risk because this would often happen while I was driving. After three different diagnoses at two different dealerships, the San Francisco dealership found that there was a fuse shortage and it was an electrical problem. They were able to fix it and I paid out of pocket. Now, in July 2025, I was again on the road driving when I get an error message on the dash: emission system, problem, and cooling system problem. I was not able to accelerate my car. Again my safety was at risk. I had to stop on the street, turned off my car, and when I tried turning it back on, the engine would not start, but the electric system was fine. My car is a 2017 hybrid Honda Accord – it is way too new to be having all of these issues. I always take my car for maintenance regularly and my car is in good condition.

The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable. The manufacturer was informed of the failure; however, after a request for additional information from the manufacturer, the contact was never called back. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

The car emits a very loud noise through the speakers. This is NOT a radio issue. The noise cannot be stopped by turning off the radio. The noise is extremely loud, so loud you cannot hear police or fire sirens, anyone honking or even someone trying to get your attention from outside the vehicle. This is a known problem to Honda, but the company considers it a problem with the stereo system and not a danger. Let me tell you, it IS a danger. Imagine not being able to hear Emergency Alerts while driving toward a tornado or powerful storm. Or not being able to hear a police or ambulance siren due to the noise coming through the speakers. Again, the stereo system is off, there is no phone connected to the system but the loud static persists until you turn the car off. It then comes back after a minute or two of driving. Honda North American requested I have a diagnostic done at the dealership to confirm the issue with the Head Unit. That costs 200 dollars, but I did it, even though there are multiple complaints online and with the company on this same issue. The dealer replicated the issue. There are no warnings about the problem until the sound overwhelms the driver. It takes about a minute to begin and WILL NOT STOP. I can provide video upon request.

Dealer tech said that this unit is connected to every control system, brakes, steering, etc. Very dangerous to drive without a correctly functioning radar. I PURCHASED THIS CAR AND NOTICED THE DRIVE AND PASSENGER LED LIGHT BARS CONTINUE TO BURN OUT, EVEN AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WILL NOT HONOR REPLACEMENTS AFTER WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT COSTS ARE~1700. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH HONDA ON THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNTIL PERMANENT FIX IS FOUND.

I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL & THE CAR DIDN'T SLOW DOWN. I USED THE HANDHELD PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF & RESTARTED SYSTEMS ALL WORKED FOR A FEW MINUTES & THEN FAILED AGAIN. I DROVE OFF THE HIGHWAY TO SAFETY & PARKED. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2018, I DROVE THE CAR TO HONDA SERVICE CENTER. SERVICE ADVISOR FENIX DID NOT BELIEVE ME BUT THEY ENDED UP GIVING ME A LOANER CAR. ON MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2018, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM SERVICE ADVISOR FENIX ASKING IF THE SERVICE MANAGER COULD DRIVE MY CAR HOME BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH MY CAR OR MY BRAKES. I SAID YES. SERVICE MANAGER EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYSTEM FAILURE THAT I EXPERIENCED WHILE HE WAS DRIVING HOME. ON MAY 12, 2018 I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM HONDA AND WAS TOLD ISSUE WAS FIXED. ON MAY 17, 2018, AT ABOUT 6:22 AM, I WAS DRIVING ON THE CROSS ISLAND PARKWAY IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN I ONCE AGAIN EXPERIENCED A TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE RESULTING IN MY CAR NOT HAVING THE ABILITY TO STOP BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. I STOPPED AGAIN BY UTILIZING THE PARKING BRAKE. HONDA TOWING TOWED THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE AN EMPLOYEE THEN DROVE THE CAR TO THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER AND THEN RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN A DIFFERENT CAR TO PICK ME UP AND TRANSPORT ME TO THE SERVICE CENTER. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR AND CANNOT EVER SEE MYSELF DRIVING IT OR ALLOWING MY FAMILY TO RIDE IN IT REGARDLESS OF WHO IS DRIVING IT AS IT IS NOT SAFE!!
