Lost all power and the warning light came on concerning brake system failure. The car came to a complete stop and would not accellerate, so had to shut down the system and restart in the middle of the road and luckily was able to drive home with only a brake light illuminated. There is definitely something wrong with the electrical braking system
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Vehicle Mileage: 29,200 miles Involved Honda Dealership: McGrath Honda, St. Charles, IL Details of Your Inquiry: I am seeking assistance regarding an ongoing issue with my 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. The first time I noticed this issue was in the summer of 2024, when I experienced a similar set of alerts while driving in a parking lot. At the time, I didn't think much of it, as the vehicle seemed to return to normal shortly afterward. However, on [XXX], the problem occurred again, but this time it was more serious. While driving in a subdivision in Bolingbrook, IL, at approximately 25-30 MPH around 8:10 PM, my vehicle malfunctioned and displayed numerous system alerts, including: Adaptive cruise control system problem, Collision mitigation braking system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric power steering system problem, Electric parking brake system problem, Tire pressure monitor system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem. Additionally, my Honda app sent a warning stating, “Brake system problem, drive with caution.” During this time, the vehicle experienced a significant loss of power, with no braking or acceleration available. I was unable to use the brake pedal or accelerate, which caused immediate safety concerns. Luckily, I was in a subdivision and not on a busier road like Weber Rd. or I-55, as this could have resulted in a dangerous accident. I was able to coast the vehicle to a stop at the side of the road, where I waited for a few minutes. I then cycled the vehicle off, waited a few more minutes, and turned it back on. The vehicle started, and I was able to drive back home. A video was recorded showing the alerts on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to McGrath Honda for diagnostics on March 28, 2025. The dealership found multiple lost communication codes from various subsystems, but they were unable to replicate the issue. Driving under normal conditions, vehicle lost power to the drive train, numerous alarms received on dash board. Coasted to stop. turned off engine and restarted. systems returned to normal. drove to dealership and reported incident, diagnostics revealed numerous alarms but no cause. If the incident occurred on the highway in traffic there is the potential for serious harm.
The engine completely stopped while driving on two different occasions, once on I10 freeway and on a busy surface street. Hard to pinpoint the failure either mechanical or electrical. Was inspected by two different Honda dealerships and both found no error messages. On the freeway was extremely dangerous we were lucky to safely get to the shoulder and call AAA. On the most occurrence the engine shut off and caused a traffic jam but after a short time was able to restart with no damage only many angry drivers showing their irritation. There was no prior messages or other symptoms that was evident prior to these two occurrences. Had a safety recall performed yesterday, to inspect high pressure fuel pump and no fault was found. This is definitely a safety related defect and if it happens again i don't know if luck will be with me a third time.
While driving at speeds between 3-70 MPH, the vehicle will intermittently display multiple warning lamps along with having an immediate loss of motive power (go into LIMP mode). When this occurs, the car must be coasted over to the side of the road & restarted typically twice to clear all of the dash alerts. Having a car go into LIMP mode while driving on city streets, highways or interstates puts our family in danger as well as the safety of others on the road near us. This issue has reproduced itself over a dozen times for our family & the service department has not been able to reproduce/confirm when brought in for repair. The service team on the 1st service date found multiple codes for loss of communications. They cleared the codes, found no permanent codes, performed a hard reset on the system & sent the car home. The 2nd service call again showed multiple codes for loss of communications. They were not able to reproduce the issue & sent the car home. The 3rd service call displayed the same codes as before. They updated the ICM software & sent the car home. The 4th service call displayed the same codes. The service team attempted to reproduce the issue by driving the vehicle for ~250 miles unsuccessfully & wanted to send the car home. We disagreed & they mentioned we should open a case with Honda which we did. Several days later Honda & the service team replaced the integrated control unit. It will take much time & many miles before we can be certain the ICM replacement did or did not resolve the issue. The issue 1st occurred near 6,200 in mileage and roughly 4 months after purchase. The car now has over 27,000 miles. As far as warning lamps during an event, multiple pop up that are images/icons as well as text of issues you can scroll through. Battery lamp, vehicle stability assist reduced traction and handling, brake system problem brake performance may be reduced, electric power steering system problem steering assist reduced, etc.

came to stop sign. As I turned the corner, engine died in the intersection, all warning lights and dashboard warnings came on. I was dead in the intersection. I had to put car into park, turn the car off, turn car back on and then I could start the car and move out of the intersection to the side of the road. All warning lights and dashboard warnings were on. I have pic of warnings from last event (of 4). able to drive car, everything was normal except brake warnings was on the whole trip (30 min) but brakes worked fine. Parked car for 2 hours and when I came out, all warnings were NOT displayed. This has happened at about the following dates and mileage on the car BETWEEN events. Car purchased new 2/25/2023. First event was about 7/16/2023 at about 2994 miles. Second event was about 2/20/2024 at about 4978 miles since first event (7972 total miles). Third event was about 6/20/2024 at about 3885 miles since 2nd event (11857 total miles). Fourth event was on 11/9/2024 at exactly 3970 miles since 3rd event (15827 total miles. Each time, I have taken it into a dealer. They did a software update after 3rd event and after 4th event, replaced ICM module (ignition control module). Honda factory person worked with dealership after 3rd and 4th event. To date, we do not have any evidence that replacing the ICM has fixed the problem but also no evidence it has not fixed the problem as the events seem to happen every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I have lots of documentation I have sent to Honda and have a case number with them (13997837). I have asked Honda to replace the car. They started the process but just this week in a call, they said they were ending that process for now. Not sure if I was able to ADD copies of my dealership invoices, my own correspondence with Honda. If they are not on this document, call me and I will send them to you or email them to you.
I am a [XXX]. I contacted Honda customer service to escalate my situation. I have not yet received help from the Winston-Salem Honda dealer as of 9:00 a.m. on 10/18/24. I have complained to the Department of Justice's consumer protection division. I have sent documentation. I reached out on Facebook. I was last contacted by Dallas, even though Mike's name is on my last paperwork. This is suspicious. My rubber on my door has been replaced. My seatbelt was missing a bolt. Tires with regular, correct maintenance from the dealer should last 30,000 miles. Because Honda of Winston-Salem did not follow the schedule, after bringing my car to them many times, I have to replace my four tires at under 22,000 miles. I have lost 30% of my tires' lifespan unnecessarily due to a lack of regular balancing and rotation, despite multiple visits to Honda of Winston-Salem. My last recall letter arrived over 60 days ago. My seatbelt, CVT transmission, and engine have recalls. My window tint has faded, my door is failing, my brakes have issues, there are electrical issues, and the ceiling is sagging. My Hondalink is incorrect. I asked for help with car features and I paid $3000 up front extended warranty, but they refused to assist. While driving the vehicle at 60 MPH the vehicle powered off and displayed multiple warning lights. After pulling over and making a complete stop I restarted the vehicle and a warning message displayed "Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer." The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.
I was traveling down road clear day at 50 miles an hour and the car slowed down to 20 miles an hour immediately in seconds like the automatic breaks were applied car would not accelerate for 3/4 of a mile the card just kept slowing down. Dash was blinking EBS then transmission malfunction light came on. I was able to pull off road (very dangerous) road was crowded. and I had to go over 2 lanes I shut car off when i restarted I dash said warning Brake System Problem brake performance may be reduced See your dealer. At this time all systems seemed to be operating ok I was able to accelerate. I drove home shut car off started 1 hour later no warring light everything normal. I will bring to dealer this week will see what they say. This was very dangerous the car went from 50 to 20 in a matter of seconds, and I had very little control of car I am afraid to have my wife dive the car
Driving on town road up a hill at about 30 mph when I got a brake system warning and the engine shut off and accelerator did not work. I was able glide to the side of the road (steering worked). I turned the car off and on and was able to continue driving to my destination but the same error message was present along with several others (eg TPMS, lane assist, collision mitigation). After being parked for 1 hour, I started car and there were no error messages and car functioned normally. Brought car to dealer (Westbrook CT Honda) and they ran diagnostic codes but found nothing other than what they described as an older voltage flux. They had never heard of a car's engine shutting off with the break system error. Told me that if it happened again to have car towed in so that there would be no code resets. I can only imagine my fear level if this had happened at 65 mph in the middle lane of a highway! I found a on-line forum where others are describing the same thing. Time for a recall? Tried to start vehicle, would not start or go into drive. All warning lights on dash. Got out of the car and locked and got back in, same thing happened. Walked away and left it for a while and got back in and it started. But brake system like stayed on, then after restarting car once more light went away.
Car suddenly dies completely while driving. Entire electrical system failure rendering car inoperable. This happens without warning other than all lights on the dashboard illuminating right before shutdown. Car cannot be steered or moved and needed to be towed. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE both times on arterial roadways. A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION! First incident reported to you in August of 2024 only four months ago.
While driving the vehicle on a very busy highway, it completely stalled and several warning lights appeared: "Brake System problem SEE DEALER, Check Engine Light, TPMS, etc. I have attached a picture of the warning. Another vehicle behind me slammed on his brakes but ended up bumping my back bumper (no visible damage). Thankfully the driver was alert and was able to slam on his brakes to avoid a disaster on highway 270 (near Washington, DC). I was able to restart the vehicle after a few minutes, the warning lights remained on, and I was able to drive 8 miles to the dealership. According to the work order: "The technician pulled multiple codes, followed the diagnostic tree, cleared codes." I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and have seen other complaints regarding the same issue on a Honda Website. Please research and assist as best you can.
When driving my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan, several warning lights came on, including the brakes and tire pressure. Then the accelerator didn’t work well. I pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the car. A message saying there was a problem with the braking system appeared. It also said braking performance could be reduced.
Today I was driving my 2023 Honda Accord Touring hybrid with 8k miles on it. Out of the blue, a bunch of warning messages / lights came on ("Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer."; also tire warning symbol). Car automatically decelerated (wouldn't accelerate). This would have been very dangerous happening on a freeway.
Traveling on the expressway at approximately 70mph the dashboard/instrument panel started lighting up with warnings regarding tires, braking, engine, etc, and the car/power started shutting down, could not accelerate, steering and braking became difficult, fortunately I was able to access an off ramp at which point the car was stopped with multiple cars and semis behind me. The emergency flasher did work which most likely saved us from being rear-ended. We turned the car off and then turned it back on twice and then it started up again.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Acord. The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at 45 MPH, six unknown warning lights plus the brake system warning light illuminated. The vehicle began to lose motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,670.

My 2023 car has 850 miles on it I was at a stop waiting for a train to pass when all warning dashboard lights came on. The brake would not work and the gas would not work. I turned the car off and restarted it and most lights went off except for the brake warning. I was able to turn around and take car to dealership. They said it was a faulty 12 volt battery and replaced it. I haven't had issues since but also haven't driven much. I have read of other honda owners having the similar issue.
Car stalled while coming to a stop and wouldn’t accelerate. Dashboard lit up with multiple errors including battery, ABS, engine, and traction control. Had to restart the car 3 time before being able to accelerate and pull off the road. All lights went off except brake light which stayed on and displayed error message “break system problem. Break performance may be reduced. See your dealer.” Vehicle available for inspection if requested.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle shut off independently. Additionally, while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 0 MPH. The transmission warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the Lane Keep Assist became inoperable. The contact was able to pull over safely. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the warning light was reset. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact there was no recall coverage on the vehicle for the failure. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V588000 (Power Train). The contact was referred to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

[XXX] My wife was driving this hybrid vehicle when it suddenly lost power in middle of road about a city block from starting location. There were no reasons for any automatic hazard overrides to become active. Dashboard displays stayed on but there was no accelerator response, and, importantly, there was an immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. Vehicle was traveling uphill and the emergency brakes had to be applied to arrest backward motion after coming to a stop. Judging by rate of slowdown, regenerative braking may also have been active. Rapidly following this, several diagnostic/warning messages (re brakes, steering, etc) started flashing in succession and then the message "see your dealer." About 10 minutes after this incident, my wife made one attempt to restart the car after turning the car off and then on. The response was a repeat of the flashing messages. I arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after this and the car restarted in a normal fashion. So, unfortunately, this is an intermittent, difficult-to-firmly-diagnose problem. Nevertheless, in view of the severe safety issues associated with this failure, we had the car towed to a Honda dealer. They found several items in the car's diagnostic system and, in consultation with Honda engineers, performed a software update for the ICM (ignition control module?) which, we were told, would address this problem, since other similar complaints had apparently been registered. The HUGE SAFETY ISSUE that this failure represents (loss of power along with steering assistance and braking assistance plus possibly more rapid deceleration) cannot be overestimated. We will be risking our lives to believe that the software fix truly addresses this problem. To believe that a software update is a sure fix is to believe that Honda knows the exact reason for this failure, and if they do, it is absurd that a software recall has not been issued. Please follow up on this matter with Honda. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION
I was travelling across a bridge at 45-50 MPH when suddenly, every single warning light came on and the engine shut off. I had to coast over the bridge and into a parking lot. I turned the car completely off and back on and the warning lights went away. The next day, I took the car to the dealership I purchased it from where they performed tests and concluded that rain caused my vehicle to shut off, this is not the first time they have encountered a similar issue, and there is nothing they can do about it. This is not an acceptable answer, as I cannot worry about mine and my family's safety in the car every time it rains. If there was another vehicle close to me when this happened, there would have been an accident. If this is a common issue, Honda needs to address this ASAP.
This past December (2023) while driving my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid I experienced an issue where multiple warnings about the Engine, the Break System...etc lit up on the dash along with a warning to contact a dealership. As the warning messages lit up the dash, the car lost all drive-power and slowly decelerated to a stop. I had not made it out of the parking lot of my apartment complex, and a power-cycle allowed me to return back to my parking space. The obvious safety concerns, especially if I was in traffic, are self-evident as a crash could occur. The sporadic, unexplainable, and unpredictability makes it 10x more concerning from a safety standpoint. I've had one checkup since, and I have an subsequent appointment to have this checked even further. I've found other testimonies online from customers who've had this or similar experiences with this same make/model/year. I felt it best to report this as it could be a larger issue than the manufacturer currently understands or is making public.
I was driving , went to turn onto a street from another when my car lost power. Warnings popped up but I was so concerned about getting out of oncoming traffic, that I did not have time to read them, let alone take photos. I turned the engine off and restarted the car. It started without problem but a Brake System Problem alert popped up. It advised to take the car to the dealer. After turning the car off and on again, the alert went away. The car was towed to the dealer on 1-18-24. The dealer is working on it as of today, 1/31/24.
while running car warning light came on and vehicle stalls. Car wont go faster than 10 to 15 mph. This happen 4 times withing 5 months of purchase. First time took it to dealer and they were unable to find any problems. One more call dealer and dealer rep. said it probably was sensor or windshield camera but did not fix the problem. It happen again 2 times and took it to dealer and dealer said battery failed test and replace it. Same day after picking vehicle out of dealer it happen again. Purchase this vehicle as a relieable car for my daughter leaving to university and all it been is unsafe and unrealiable to her.
Well, I don't really know what to do.. Last night the car was sitting in the garage on. And playing a seminar I was watching.on my phone. The keys were nowhere around the car, and the door was unlocked and the car was just sitting there on in the garage. We've only had the car five days, but this worries me.. It reminds me of [XXX] . This is the first year of this body styles and I hope it never does anything weird like this on the freeway (cutting off) or parked in front of a store. Then again this morning the door was unlocked already and didn't beep to open. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was driving the car on I four east toward Orlando going towards Disney World. Just bought the car two days ago and had 10 miles on it. It’s a Honda accord hybrid sport, the engine start shaking smoking while I’m in the middle lane going 70 miles an hour the whole car shuts off and it has every single code known to man come up on HondaLink and I feel like a dealer is making me keep his car.
While driving in NC tonite, I was coming to a stop light near road construction. Suddenly my Accord hybrid jerked and stuttered and then stalled out. When I restarted my Accord hybrid the instrument cluster had a large amber warning that my braking system has a problem and that braking may be reduced. Really? And the warning on my instrument cluster also said to take my 2023 Accord hybrid with 248 miles on it, to the dealer. I just bought the vehicle on Feb 28, 2023! Did I buy a lemon?
