DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A SAFETY SEAT SUPPORT HARNESS FOR A DOG MADE BY FOUR PAWS PRODUCT LIMITED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEVICE CUT THE REAR PASSENGER AND MIDDLE SEAT BELT STRAPS. THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN ALERTED. UPDATED 06/27/06. *JB

ON NOVEMBER 12, 2004, I NOTICED THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAY ON THE ENTIRE TIME THAT I DROVE THE CAR. (IT STILL DOES TO THIS DAY.) ON NOVEMBER 16, I TOOK IT TO CLASSIC HONDA OF SAN MARCOS, TX--DEALER #208339--FOR A CHECK UP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SRS CONTROL UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS A 1995 HONDA ACCORD STATION WAGON, MANUFACTURED IN JANUARY 1995. THE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES "WHEN THE CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD, HAVE THE DEALER INSPECT THE [SRS] SYSTEM." SO THE EXPECTATION IS THAT THE SYSTEM SHOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS. THE SRS SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT, MUCH LIKE THE SEAT BELT. I KNOW HONDA HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE SEAT BELT AND THE REPLACEMENT MUFFLER. I FEEL THAT THE SRS SYSTEM SHOULD CARRY A LIFETIME WARRANTY AS WELL BECAUSE IT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SAFETY. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON NOVEMBER 22, 2004 TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND ASKED THEM TO PAY FOR THE CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT. THEY DENIED. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH THROUGH THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT JUST LOOKING AT THE FIRST AND LAST FIVE PAGES OF THE COMPLAINTS SHOWS THAT THE SRS INDICATOR STAYING ON HAS BEEN QUITE COMMON (I FOUND 11 COMPLAINTS). I FOUND A COMPLAINT FILED AS RECENTLY AS JANUARY 24, 2005. THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE 96V217000 OUT FOR REPLACING THE SRS CONTROL UNIT. WAS THAT RECALL OUT IN SEPTEMBER 1996, AND WHAT WERE THE CIRCUMSTANCES? *AK

THE SRS CHECK LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE OWNER'S MANUAL INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ONCE, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK RECALL CAMPAIGN; NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 96V217000 ON THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE AIR CONDITIONING WIRE HARNESS. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 98V231000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SRS LIGHT WAS ON AND WAS FIXED BY THE SERVICE DEALER. *TC
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON/DOOR LOCKS INTERMITTENTLY LOCK/UNLOCK/RADIO, TAPE UNIT PLAYS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY/FUEL GAUGE READINGS GROSSLY INACCURATE, AND POWER ANTENNA WILL NOT RETRACT. *AK

CONSUMER STATES THAT THE ALPINE STEREO OVERHEATS AND RUINS THE TAPES. *SLC
CONSUMER STATES THAT HIS FAMILY GOT SICK SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO EXPOSURE TO FREON AND OTHER TOXIC CHEMICAL LEAKS FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, CONSUMER STATES THAT HIS WIFE AND GRANDDAUGHTER COUGHED AND GAGGED TO THE POINT OF VOMITING WHILE RIDING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING, CONSUMERS WIFE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A SMALL VESSEL DISEASE DUE TO EXPOSURE TO THESE CHEMICALS. *SLC
LOTS OF WATER LEAKS FROM INTO THE FRONT FOOT WELLS. CONCERNED ABOUT WATER ON/AROUND PEDALS. DEALER SAID CAUSE WAS MY PROBLEM . . . LEAVES OR SOMETHING CLOGGING OUTLET. I THINK THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD HAVE A SOLUTION.*AK
NO SUMMARY LISTED FOR ABOVE VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH AIR CONDITIONER ON AND OUTSIDE AIR CHOSEN A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. REPORTED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A CARBON FILTER WAS NOT ABLE TO DO ITS JOB BECAUSE OF THE HOT WEATHER. DEALER REPORTED SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. NO SUGGESTION OF REMEDY.
WATER COULD LEAK FROM THE A/C TO THE BRAKES AND GAS PEDAL. DEALER REPAIRED IT BEFORE. *AK *ML
ANTENNA IS STUCK PERMANENTLY IN UP POSITION; DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW STICKS AND IS VERY SLOW TO ROLL UP; CENTER CONSOLE HAS SEPERATED FROM CUP HOLDER AREA AND GEAR SHIFT AREA; SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. *AK
RE: EXHAUST VALVE SPRINGS - CAR CONTINUALLY STALLED. RE: AIR CONDITIONER - LEAK BEHIND GLOVE COMPARTMENT. RE: CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK- DISCOVERED WHEN MECHANIC WAS LOOKING FOR AIR CONDITIONER LEAK. FIXED CRACK AND REMOUNTED ENGINE BLOCK WITHOUT USING EXISTING SCREW BECAUSE THE SCREW WAS CAUSING STRESS TO THE BLOCK.
CAR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
THE ORIGINAL BLOWER MOTOR DIED THEN THE REPLACEMENT MOTOR DIED MERELY 18 MOS LATER.
AIR CONDITIONER DOES NOT COOL PROPERLY WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 90 DEG. F ESPECIALLY IF THE HUMIDITY IS HIGH. TWO ATTEMPTS BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP TO REMEDY THE SITUATION HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.
A/C MOTOR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO TURNING A/C ON. AT TIMES, IT WILL COME ON AFTER 5-10 MINUTES, OTHER TIMES IT WON'T RESPOND. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE, AND HONDA DEALER REPLACED FAILED COMPONENT, BUT NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN DURING HOT TEMPERATURES
A/C WIRING FAILED CAUSING A/C TO FAIL.
THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT AT 20,000 MILES, IT IS BLOWING HOT AIR. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED.
