Samething wrong Witherspoon the direction an brake lamp light. My car can not pass smog check.
Passenger side subframe rusted out near steering/suspension components causing my sone to lose control of vehicle and crash. This is a well know defect of this vehicle.
The engine cradle is rooting out from the AC unit is draining on it and it about to brake because of the way Honda did it I hope the recall is made on it
My 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 has a few issues: 1. Front/rear struts, sway bar bushings, and sway bar links. This has caused my car to fail safety tests for the last 5 years. I have received an itemized estimate for these issues from a mechanic. 2. Electrical. The front instrument panel is not working properly. I can not touch any buttons on the dash or the lights on the panel will go off completely. Both of these are a huge safety issue and it is not safe to drive! No lights or warning of any kind regarding these issues!
Car keeps going out of line when steering wheel gets lose after bumbs. Fixed rack n pinon and steering wheel pump 2x already!
THE STRUTS ON BOTH FRONT AND BACK WENT BAD ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WITH MY BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME, WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HEARD SOME THUMPING AND OTHER NOISES. HE LOOKED IN UNDER MY HONDA AND TOLD ME THAT MY STRUTS ON BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK ARE BAD AND NEED REPLACING. IT'S GOTTEN A LOT WORSE, FLOATING OVER BUMPS, HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME KEEPING IT UNDER CONTROL WHILE TURNING AROUND ANY TYPE OF CORNER AND IF I HAPPEN TO NOT SEE ANY KIND OF BUMP OR WHOLE IN THE ROAD, IT SOUNDS AS IF MY CAR IS GOING TO FALL APART. I HAVE TAKEN EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF MY ACCORD, BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR ALL NEW STRUTS!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSATION LINE DRIPPED FLUID ON TOP OF THE KEY SUSPENSION COMPONENT, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

THE VEHICLE HANDLING IS POOR WHEN MAKING SUDDEN TURNS (AVOIDANCE MANEUVERS). WHEN I SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DEALER, THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL AND EVERYTHING METAL RUSTS IN THIS AREA (SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN). HE GAVE ME A NUMBER FOR SOME HONDA CARE CENTER, BUT AFTER NAVIGATING THROUGH THE AUTOMATED PHONE SYSTEM I FOUND OUT THE CENTER WAS NOT OPEN AT THE TIME I CALLED...FRUSTRATING. UPON EXAMINING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IT IS APPARENT THE FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE OR SUB FRAME) WHERE THE STABILIZER BAR MOUNTS TO THE FRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS TOTALLY RUSTED THROUGH, ALLOWING THE STABILIZER BAR TO MOVE A GREAT AMOUNT ONLY TO BE HELD UP BY THE SWAY BAR LINK PIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THE SWAY BAR LINK PIN TERMINATION COMES LOOSE OR BREAKS, THE SWAY BAR WILL DROP AND DRAG ON THE PAVEMENT, POSSIBLY CATAPULTING THE CAR.

CLICKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM FRONT SUSPENSION AREA. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME. AS A RESULT, THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE FRONT SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURIES/DEATH. CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA ON 7-15-15 TO GET A GOODWILL REPAIR SINCE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS AS A RESULT OF MANUFACTURE DEFECT. AMAL, THE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE PRODUCT CONCERNS DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT IS HONDA'S POLICY NOT TO ISSUE GOODWILL SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IS 15 YEARS OLD. HONDA - NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD BRAND NEW CARS!!! YOUR REPUTATION HAS BEEN TO PRODUCE SAFE, DEPENDABLE VEHICLES, BUT YOUR LACK OF ACTUAL "CUSTOMER SUPPORT" SHOWS OTHERWISE. PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME RUSTED TO THE POINT OF BEING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE ISSUE IS CLAIMED TO BE DUE TO WATER DRAINING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER ONTO THE SUBFRAME SECTION WHERE THE SWAY BAR MOUNTS. THE DRIVERS SIDE IS FINE WITHOUT RUST. THE RUST IS VERY BAD AT THIS POINT AND HAS BROKEN THROUGH. THE REST OF THE SUBFRAME AWAY FROM THIS AREA IS FINE WITHOUT RUST OR SURFACE RUST WHICH CAN BE BRUSHED OFF TO EXPOSE GREY METAL IN GOOD SHAPE. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM I.E. RUSTED SUBFRAME UNDER THE AC DRAIN HOLE.

DEALER ADVISES IT SHOULD BE REPLACED ASAP AND THAT THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. OBVIOUSLY IT MAKES NO SENSE TO SPEND THE $2,500+TAX THAT THE DEALER PROPOSES, AS THE CAR IS BARELY WORTH THAT MUCH. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN 1998-2002 HONDAS AS THE AIR CONDITIONER DRIPS RIGHT ONTO THIS PART OF THE SUBFRAME. THE INCONTROVERTIBLE EVIDENCE IS THE DOZENS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR SUBFRAME RUST FILED HERE WITH THE NHTSA AND ELSEWHERE - ALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE - AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT HONDA CHANGED THE DESIGN ON THE 2003 MODELS. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE NHTSA IS WAITING TO FORCE A RECALL?? WHAT IF I HADN'T GOTTEN THE MAINTENANCE FOR ANOTHER FEW MONTHS?? WHAT COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY HAPPENED?? COULD I HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AS THE BOTTOM PARTIALLY FELL OUT?? THIS IS A SERIOUS INJURY, IF NOT DEATH, WAITING TO HAPPEN! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!??? EVERYTHING ELSE UNDERNEATH THE CAR IS CLEAN. THE MECHANIC SAID IT'S WEIRD THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED. HE TOLD ME IT COULD BREAK APART ANYTIME. BEING THAT IT'S NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE I HAVE TO GET IT REPLACED NOW. THE COST IS GOING TO BE ABOUT $1200 WITH LABOR. WHEN I GOT HOME I STARTED DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I DO ON THEIR HONDA ACCORDS. THE SPOUT FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALLOW THE WATER TO GO DIRECTLY ONTO THE GROUND. DUE THE FAULTY DESIGN SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS WILL NEED TO HAVE THEIR SUB FRAME REPLACE ALONG WITH THE BEARING. THIS IS A HIGH SAFETY RISK WHILE DRIVING, THE RUSTED FRAME COULD FALL APART AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING ACCIDENT. *TR

FIVE DAYS LATER, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE OUT-OF-TOWN USER CAR SALES/SERVICE BUSINESS FROM WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM, TRACING IT TO RUNOFF FROM CONDENSATION OVER THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR DIRECTLY ON TO THE CORRODED AREA. BECAUSE OF THE PRE-EXISTING NATURE OF THE PROBLEM, THE USED CAR SALESMAN IS WILLING TO PAY 50% OF THE COST, BUT PARTS (EVEN WITH THE USE OF A RUST-FREE USED SUBFRAME) AND LABOR TOTAL COST IS $1,200. *TR

WITH THE AC LEAKING RIGHT ONTO THIS SPOT AND THEM FIXING THAT DEFECT AFTER 2002, IT IS CLEARLY THEIR FAULT. HOWEVER I RESEARCHED ONLINE, AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A TYPICAL DESIGN FLAW ON THIS YEAR AND MODEL, WHERE THE A/C LIQUID DISCHARGE WAS RIGHT ABOVE THE SUB-FRAME AND HAD RUSTED THE REAR CROSS MEMBER COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. SINCE I AM ON SOCIAL SECURITY-DISABILITY, I AM UNABLE TO PAY TO REPLACE PART #50200-584-A00-RR BEAM. *TR

I SAID THAT I HAD LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND THIS WAS A HONDA DESIGN DEFECT AND THAT NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS HAD REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. UPON RECENT INSPECTION OF THAT CAR THE SUB FRAME HAS RUSTED/ROTTED OUT THE SAME AS MY CAR AND MANY OTHER HONDA ACCORDS. THIS CONSTITUTES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE GIVEN THE NUMBER AND FUNCTIONALITY OF THE ASSOCIATED PARTS THAT RELY ON THE INTEGRITY OF THER SUBFRAME TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE FAIRLY OBVIOUS CAUSAL FACTOR IS THE ROUTING OF THE AC DRAIN HOSE EXPLAINING WHY THE LEFT SIDE IS FINE AT THIS TIME. RECENTLY TOOK A 2000 ACCORD SE TO HONDA DEALER FOR TRADE IN. THE DEALERSHIP PUT THE CAR ON THE HOIST FOR INSPECTION BEFORE DETERMINING A TRADE IN PRICE. ONE OF THE FIRST PLACES THAT THE MECHANIC LOOKED WAS AT THE FRAME AND FRONT SUSPENSION ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY IT WAS FOUND THAT OVER HALF THE WIDTH OF THE FRONT CROSS BEAM WAS WASTED AWAY, AND WAS IN DANGER OF BREAKING OFF AT ANY TIME. BOTH THE MECHANIC AND SALESMAN AGREED, THIS WAS A PROBLEM THEY HAD SEEN MANY TIMES ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT YEARS OF THIS MODEL. THE ROTTING OF THE BEAM WAS APPARENTLY CAUSED BY CONDENSATE DRIPPING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN, WHICH WAS LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE BEAM. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN SUCH A PROBLEM, THE DRAINS HAD BEEN MOVED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION ON THE NEXT GENERATION. THE ESTIMATE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WAS $1300.00.
