Since I have owned this vehicle (bought used with 68,000 miles) it has had an issue that over 10 mechanics have not yet solved. It has slowly escalated to the point it is now unable to be driven at 250,000 miles. It is an idle issue, the car started revving up to around 3,000 rpm’s (on hot days it seemed but it also started to happen in the winter ) whenever I would put the car into park after driving it a small amount of time. The safety mechanism would kick in on the vehicle making it impossible to put back into gear and I would be forced to shut the car off and let it rest for around 30 minutes before it would start without immediately revving up to the red line again. I’ve replaced everything that every mechanic has told me that it could be. Even tried to replace almost everything all at once. Over time this issue began to get extremely worse and the vehicle would start to accelerate on its own to the point I almost crashed it three different times because I would be unable to slow the vehicle down coming to a stop sign and I’d have to throw the e brake on while pressing the main brake system. Afterwards I’d have to quickly find a parking spot and shut the car off due to the damage I felt like the engine was taking. Then it seemed like possibly an electrical issue because the power would drain overnight and the car wouldn’t start without a jump even after replacing the starter, alternator, battery, etc. I’ll end by saying now when I can get the car started, the last time that I drove it, it had the same issue of accelerating on its own and the rpm’s increasing to around 2,500 or 3,000 or even more at times and felt as if the automatic transmission was missing or slipping gears and the car would almost stall out and shake violently as if you were driving a manual transmission and it was the moment right before you killed the engine. The last time I drove it I had to pull over at a gas station and call someone to come pick me up and pull the car home.

I was driving in Kansas City Kansas. On 635, It was around 6 pm. When I started exiting onto another highway. Due to car stalling by either transmission slipping, or the fuel pump stalling the engine headlights too dim with weird angle in lighting as well, Long story short.... I was almost the cause of a massive wreck ... it made for a quiet drive home... So I was also going to see if they've had a recall on 2005 honda accord aside from airbags.

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the ignition switch was replaced by an independent mechanic in 2015. The contact stated that the vehicle recently failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle restarted the following day; however, the failure recurred increasingly. The contact purchased a new programmed key for the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the that the failure was not related to the ignition key. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

When I put key in to start car it does not start I let it sit and will do it two to three times before it will turn over. Car stereo had to take fuse out it would not shut of I was told it was electrical and may be my starter also my abs light is constantly on and only the abs works when it wants .also have had battery replaced but problem still persists only has 104,000 miles on her problems started a few years back asked honda about the problem and they said no recalls on these problems

I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID WITH 300K YES SHE HAS ALOT OF MILES BUT HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR. BUT JUST THIS MONTH I HAVE HAS 2 ISSUES ARISE. 1. MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF, UNLESS I UNHOOK BATTERY. WE TOOK THE FUSES OUT WICH TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF BUT STILL DRAINS THE BATTERY FOR SOME REASON. WE HAVE CHECKED ALL THE RELAYS AND FUSES. NEED HELP!!!! 2ND ISSUE IS A CODE COMING UP FOR THE HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. MY VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER AND IS IN LIMP MODE. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS PRESSED THE MAIN CRUISE LIGHT COMES ON LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BUT THEN WHWN YOU PRESS THE AET BUTTON NOTHING TAKES PLACE.THE LIGHT BLINKS ON FOR 1 SECOND BUT THAT IS THE END OF THAT.I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE CRUISE CONTROL WIRE CABLE IS HANGING IN MID AIR ABOUT 3INCHES AWAY FROM THROTTLE BODY.IT STILL HAS THE SMALL BARREL ON THE END OF THE CABLE FOR ATTACHING TO SOMETHING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER BUTTON HAD FRACTURED AND SEPARATED FROM THE GEAR SHIFTER KNOB. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED BROKEN PLASTIC FRAGMENTS COMING OUT OF THE KNOB WHERE THE BUTTON HAD DETACHED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT AFTER THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY OPERATE IN THE NEUTRAL AND DRIVE POSITIONS, AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. MY ALTERNATOR IS COVERED IN ALTERNATOR FLUID INCLUDING MY SERPENTINE BELT ALL THE WAY TO MY POWER STEERING RESERVOIR . ALSO I'VE BEEN NOTICING A LOSS OF POWER IN MY VEHICLE , WHEN I PUMP GAS I TRY TO FILL IT UP AND IT WONT FILL UP ALL THE WAY TO FULL IT STAYS 1/4 LESS OF FULL . OTHER THING IS I HAD TO TAKE OFF THE FUSE FOR THE RADIO DUE TO THE RADIO MAKING LOUD POPPING SOUNDS AND TURNING OF AND ON THE SPEAKERS ARE FINE ITS ALL ORIGINAL . REPEATEDLY STOPPING. WITH NO WARNINGS. WHEN DRIVING, ENGINE QUIT IN JANUARY, WOULD NOT MOVE OR EVEN TURN OVER. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT MOVE. DOOR LOCKS, ELECTRIC AS WELL AS WITH THE KEY COULD NOT BE USED AT. CALLED AAA TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. JUMPED THE BATTERY TO MOVE THE CAR. STILL FROZEN IN GEAR. HAD IT TOWED TO TWO DEALERS. SAID THE CLUTCH WAS DESTROYED. PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE, NOT ONE PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAY 250.00 FOR DIAGNOSTICS TO TELL ME CLUTCH WAS BURNED OUT. I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 34 YEARS AND ALWAYS HAD A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. AFTER CLUTCH WAS REPLACED, IT DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. AT THIS POINT, WE BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY. ONCE AGAIN, I CALLED AAA AND THEY JUMPED THE BATTERY. I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CONSTANT ELECTRICAL FREEZE. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND OF THE DIAGNOSTIC. CHARGES AND REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAY, WHETHER GO STRAIGHT OR TURNING, THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS OFF AND ON. BEGINNING YESTERDAY, ALL THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NEITHER LOCK NOR UNLOCK USING ANY OF THE PREVIOUSLY MENTINOED METHODS, THE LIGHTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR WILL NOT TURN OFF, AND THE DASH SYMBOL SHOWING ALL DOORS AJAR STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. I INITALLY ASSUMED IT WAS THE DOOR ACTUATORS BUT AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT SEEMS TO POINT TOWARDS AN ISSUE REGARDING THREE RELAYS WHICH ARE SOLDERED ON WHAT'S CALLED A MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT LOCATED UNDER THE DASH ON THE LEFT. SAFETY ISSUE IS I CAN'T LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS.

THE SEAT BELTS WILL LOCK WHEN TRYING TO PULL THEM AND IT DONT MATTER IF ITS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY.

THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM ON MY 2005 ACCORD SEDAN IS NOT WORKING. THE SCREEN DISPLAYS "CHECK YOUR DISK" BUT IT ALSO AFFECTS THE A/C-HEATER FAN CONTROL, RADIO PRESET STATIONS, CLOCK SETTINGS, STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. THIS TO ME IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUE. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE LACK OF NOT BEING ABLE TO ADJUST THE FAN ON EITHER A/C OR HEATER, IT SEEMS TO ALL BE CONNECTED TO THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM. PLEASE HELP! HONDA STRUNG ME A LONG FOR TWO YEARS, RESETTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO CLEAR THE ENGINE LIGHT EACH TIME IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE. SINCE THOSE TWO YEARS THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ON MY HYBRID BATTERY, WHICH COST $3500 OR MORE TO REPLACE. IT IS THEIR PRODUCT, AND KNEW THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THEY SCAMMED MY SO NOW IM STUCK WITH A USELESS CAR. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN AGREE TO ASSIST ME IN BUYING ANOTHER ONE.

PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. MECHANIC I SPOKE TO SAID THE WINDOW REGULATOR IS BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. UP UNTIL THE DAY IT BROKE, THE WINDOW WOULD GET STUCK AND NOT ROLL BACK-UP. THIS HAPPENED MANY TIMES UNTIL IT BROKE. THE ISSUE, IN MY OPINION, DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE BECAUSE OF ANY WEATHER. THE CAR WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR WAS THE PASSENGER WINDOW EVER TAMPERED WITH OR VANDALIZED.

ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE DAY THE GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. MY CAR'S MAKE/MODEL USES THE GPS NAVIGATION PANEL TO MANUALLY CHANGE INTERNAL FUNCTIONS, ACCESS THE TRIP COMPUTER, ENTER ADDRESSES, ET CETERA. WITHOUT USE OF THE NAVIGATION PANEL, I HAVE SEVERELY LIMITED ACCESS TO MOST OF MY CAR'S ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS. THE NAVIGATION GETS STUCK ON THE START-UP SCREEN (SOMETHING THAT LOOKS BLUE/BLACK WITH WORDS 'HONDA'), AND NEVER GETS TO THE SECOND WARNING SCREEN (ORANGE TEXT ON BLACK), WHERE ONE CAN PUSH 'OK ON THE TOUCH SCREEN. WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARMER, SOMETIMES I CAN PUSH THIS OK BUTTON TO GET INTO THE CONTROLS. I USUALLY HAVE 30 SECONDS UNTIL IT FAILS AGAIN. THE FOLLOWING ISSUES ARE PRESENT: 1) CDS; I CANNOT SELECT A CD TO LISTEN TO. I CAN EJECT/PUT CDS IN, BUT I CAN ONLY CHANGE SONGS USING THE CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL. 2) CLIMATE CONTROL/TEMPERATURE CONTROL: I CANNOT SWITCH FROM THE A/C TO HEAT. I CAN ONLY ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE UP/DOWN, RECIRCULATE AIR, OR TURN ON FRONT/REAR DEFROST. FOR ANY TEMPERATURE SETTING, WHEN I PUSH THE 'OFF' BUTTON, I CANNOT TURN THE SAME SETTING BACK ON WITH THE 'AUTO' BUTTON. IF I PUSH THE 'AUTO' BUTTON, IT RECALLS SOME RANDOM LAST TEMPERATURE SETTINGS, USUALLY A VERY COLD A/C SETTING (WHICH I NEVER PROGRAMMED OR DESIRED). 3) MAPS; I CAN'T ENTER ANY ADDRESSES, THEREFORE, THE NAVIGATION IS USELESS. IF IT MAGICALLY WORKS, IT TURNS OFF SHORTLY AFTER AN ADDRESS IS ENTERED. THE NAVI 'LOCK-UP' SITUATION I DESCRIBED HERE HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR OVER A YEAR OR SO. WEATHER DOES AFFECT IT. MY RESEARCH CONCLUDES THAT MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAD THIS ISSUE. MANY WERE TOLD BY HONDA DIRECTLY THAT HONDA DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS, AND TO CONTACT ALPINE, THE MANUFACTURER OF THE GPS NAVI. MOST CUSTOMERS WHO DID THIS WERE TOLD TO SEND THEIR WHOLE CD/DVD READER UNIT TO ALPINE FOR REPAIR, WHICH COSTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. *TR

MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT OF A GROCERY STORE. I WAS ON MY HOME FROM WORK AND HAD STOPPED TO PURCHASE A FEW ITEMS. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. I HAD BEEN IN THE STORE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHEN I HEARD THE LOUDSPEAKER ASKING FOR THE OWNER OF A 2005 GOLD HONDA ACCORD TO COME TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTER. WHEN I APPROACHED THE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER, HE ASKED ME TO LOOK OUTSIDE TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE ON FIRE WAS, IN FACT, MY CAR. SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF MY CAR AND TWO VEHICLES FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE TRYING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. HONDA INSISTED IT WAS MY FAULT, BUT I FOUND OUT MUCH LATER THAT ENGINE FIRES HAD OCCURRED IN OTHER 2005 ACCORDS. STATE FARM GAVE ME THE REPLACEMENT VALUE FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH TO PURCHASE A CAR OF EQUAL VALUE. THE HONDA ACCORD WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I FELT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED FOR THE ENTIRE COST OF THE CAR. PLUS, IF THE FIRE HAD OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I MIGHT NOT BE HERE WRITING THIS LETTER TO YOU. VEHICLE STAYED ON AND I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY COAST OFF THE FREEWAY, BUT DRIVE TRAIN WAS OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (105K MILES). THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH OTHER NHTSA REPORTS. IN APRIL, 2011 THE ACCORD BEGAN STALLING AND ALL SYSTEMS FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND MOVING. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 20/59 NEAR FT. PAYNE, ALABAMA WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 75 MPH. I CHANGED LANES TO PASS A SLOWER CAR BUT DID NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I TAPPED THE BREAKS TO TURN CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. THE ACCELERATION WAS NOT A FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION, JUST A MODERATE INCREASE. I THEN SHIFTED THE CAR FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AND THE RPM'S JUMPED UP TO REDLINE, AGAIN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. LUCKILY, A REST AREA WAS APPROACHING AND I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR INTO THE REST AREA PARKING LOT PLAYING WITH THE DRIVE/NEUTRAL OF THE TRANSMISSION AND USING THE BRAKES. ONCE I MADE IT TO A PARKING SPACE I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SHIFTED IT INTO PARK. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE RPM'S AGAIN JUMPED UP TO REDLINE WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND PUT MY FOOT UNDERNEATH THE GAS PEDAL AND PULLED UP. I CRANKED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT ACTED NORMAL. MY 2005 ACCORD HAD AN ILLUMINATED SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) LIGHT. THE HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED IT DOWN TO A BROKEN DRIVER SEAT SENSOR HARNESS; FAULT CODES 71-10 (DRIVERS SEAT POS SENSOR) AND A2-10 (FAULTY PWR SUPPLY). THIS CONDITION IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS DESCRIBED IN HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-002, "SAFETY RECALL: DRIVER'S SEAT POSITION SENSOR HARNESS REPLACEMENT." JUST AS DESCRIBED IN THE BULLETIN, THE WIRES ON THE HARNESS BECOME DAMAGED AND IN FACT WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN AWAY FROM THE PLUG END. HOWEVER, MY VIN FALLS OUTSIDE THE AFFECTED VIN'S LISTED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS ACTION. FURTHERMORE, I FEEL THE DEALER CHARGED MORE THAN NECESSARY FOR THE REPAIR: THEY CHARGED 1.96 HRS OF LABOR (AT $97.00/HR), OR $190.00, AND $15.20 FOR THE PART TOTALING $205.20. IN COMPARISON, THE SERVICE BULLETIN CALLS FOR 0.6 HRS OF LABOR, WHICH WHEN ADDED TO THE PART COST WOULD HAVE TOTALED $73.40. BOTTOM LINE: HONDA DID NOT PROVIDE THE PROPER FIX FOR DAMAGED DRIVER'S SEAT POSITION HARNESS'S IN LATER PRODUCTION VINS. AT FIRST, WHEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO GEAR, THERE WOULD BE A DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY ACCEPTED THAT GEAR--ANYWHERE FROM 6-10 SECONDS, ALONG WITH A GRINDING NOISE WHEN I WOULD GO FROM DRIVE TO PARK. I IMMEDUATELY CALLED MY DEALER AND TOOK IT OVER THERE AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT HAD BEEN HAPPENING. GIVEN THE MILEAGE OF MY CAR, THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPT TOOK THE CAR OUT FOR A DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY (WITH ME), AND TRIED TO SEE IF THE GEARS WERE IN FACT SLIPPING AND I WOULD NEED TRANNY WORK. AFTER THE TEST DRIVE, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD DRAIN ALL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REPLACE IT WITH NEW. THIS WORKED WELL FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, AND THEN WE HAD A BIG COLD SNAP HERE IN COLORADO. AFTER THAT, IT ALL WENT SOUTH. MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO 2ND OR 3RD WITHOUT A LOT OF NOISE. CALLED THE DEALER, AND BY THE TIME WE GOT IT THERE, THE CAR WAS BARELY MOVING AT 40MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR THREE YEARS AGO, THE ODOMETER READ 42,000 MILES. TODAY IT READS 67,000. REALLY? I HAVE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 67,000?????? THANK GOODNESS I HAVE A HIGHLY COMPETENT SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO WENT TO BAT FOR ME AND CALLED HONDA DIRECTLY. OVER 6 MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT WHICH SHOWS WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN ON THE SHIFT COLUMN ON THE FLOORBOARD WASN'T STAYING LIT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD COME ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND OTHER TIMES NOT. SOMETIMES IF I THUMPED ON THE SHIFTER ON PURPOSE, IT WOULD COME BACK ON. THEN SEVERAL WEEKS AGO MY RADIO STOPPED WORKING. AT FIRST THERE WAS NO SOUND BUT THEN A VERY LOUD WEIRD NOISE STARTED HAPPENING AND IT IS EXTREMELY LOUD. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE NOISE IS TO TURN THE RADIO OFF. THEN AT OTHER TIMES YOU TURN ON THE RADIO AND IT WORKS FINE. NOT LONG AFTER THAT I WAS DRIVING ONE NIGHT AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLICKED OFF AND ON AGAIN VERY QUICKLY. IT DID IT SEVERAL TIMES DURING MY 3 HOUR TRIP AND THEN STOPPED AND I HADN'T NOTICED IT AGAIN UNTIL TODAY. TODAY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I KNOW SOMETIMES IF YOU DON'T CLICK YOUR FUEL CAP THREE TIMES AFTER REFUELING IT CAN CAUSE THE LIGHT TO COME ON BUT I HAVE NOT REFUELED IN SEVERAL WEEKS. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, WENT OFF AND THEN CAME ON AGAIN. SHORTLY AFTER THIS, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASHED ON AND OFF AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES VERY QUICKLY. THE BATTERY IS NOT THAT OLD AND THIS CAN HAPPEN WHETHER IT'S WET OR DRY CONDITIONS. THE USER MANUAL SAID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS EMISSION RELATED BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER THINGS HAPPENING THAT I WONDER IF THIS IS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IT IS SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS BECAUSE SUDDENLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CANNOT BE SEEN SO YOU CAN'T SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE OR ANYTHING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THERE WAS AN EXCESSIVE INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND FAILED TO STOP. WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO THE PARK POSITION THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE GEAR SELECTOR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION, AND THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN OR RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. THE POLICE WAS AT THE SCENE AND HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE RANGE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE IGNITION KEY SUDDENLY TURNED AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT HAD A 40,000 MILE REPAIR PERFORMED AT THE DEALER. FOUR DAYS LATER, THE GAUGE CONTROL MODULE SHORTED OUT INTERNALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED IN THE CRUISE CONTROL MODE AND IT CONTINUED MOVING TOWARDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO TWO VEHICLES. THE CONTACT AND ANOTHER PERSON WERE INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INVESTIGATOR STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULE CAUSED THE CRASH. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE MORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AGAIN AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION TO THE MALFUNCTION. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM COMPONENT. I HAVE OWNED A 2005 HONDA ACCORD SINCE SEPT. 2005. BOTH OF THE CAR KEY CASEMENTS HAVE BROKEN WITHOUT ABUSE DURING THIS TIME. NOW THAT MAY SEEM TRIVIAL, BUT THEY DO SO WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO EXTREMELY BAD DESIGN/ENGINEERING. THEY SEEM TO HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO FAIL. TO REPLACE THEM I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT EACH KEY WOULD COST $67 AND THE PROGRAMMING ANOTHER $88. WITHOUT THE CASE BEING ATTACHED TO THE KEY, THE IGNITION WILL NOT OPERATE. SIX CHANGER CD PLAYER OVERHEATS. AFTER 30 SECONDS OF PLAYING TIME , THE PANEL TURNS EXTREMELY HOT AND CD ERROR MESSAGE FLASHES. WHEN THE CD IS REMOVED, IT IS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH WHERE IT MUST BE PLACED ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF MORE THAN ONE CD IS IN THE SIX CD CHANGER, THE PANEL GETS VERY HOT AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE PANEL DISPLAY GOES BLANK. THE RADIO WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE UNIT HAS COOLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE REPAIRS WERE MADE FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE TCS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. ALSO, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE DRIVE AND PARK LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FOUR DAYS LATER WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED THROUGH A FENCE AND INTO A BOULDER. ALTHOUGH SEAT BELTS WERE WORN AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.

RADIO RECEPTION. WE HAVE THE ACCORD WITH THE SATELLITE/RADIO COMBINATION WITH A CD PLAYER. THE ANTENNA IS LOCATED IN THE REAR WINDOW. THE RADIO RECEPTION, IN EITHER AM OR FM IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE LOCAL HONDA GARAGE HAS OFFERED TO REPLACE THE RADIO BUT INSISTS THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ANTENNA DESIGN. THE RECEPTION IS TERRIBLE. STATIONS THAT ARE EASILY HEARD IN OTHER VEHICLES WE OWN OR HAVE OWNED IS SIMPLY MUCH BETTER. THIS IS ANNOYING AT BEST. DT: THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AT 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE LEFT FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE BY THE HEADLIGHTS AND TIRE AREA. THIS WAS A MINOR ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER EXCHANGED LICENSE AND INSURANCE INFORMATION AND GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS PLANNING TO DRIVE AWAY. WHILE ON THE CELL PHONE A PEDESTRIAN WAVED ALERTING THE CONSUMER THAT THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT AREA HAD BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM WHERE IT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY STRUCK. THE SMOKE LATER TURNED INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS FIRE BEGAN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND DEALER COULD NOT OFFER AN EXPLANATION AT THIS TIME. AN INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR, FIRE INSPECTOR, AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CAME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. NO REPORT WAS ISSUED, BUT THE CONSUMER WISHED TO FILE A COMPLIANT. NO CORRECTIONS OR REPAIRS WERE DONE. NO FINAL DETERMINATIONS WILL BE MADE UNTIL AFTER INSPECTIONS. THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT BUT NOT THE FIRE. *AK
