The vsa light is on every time I drive the triangle hazard light and the abs light is on
08 accord vtc failing, known issue by honda on many models with the 2.4l engine.
I was driving down the highway at 60mph when suddenly the car threw itself in reverse! No one was behind me, but I had to quickly brake and back into the shoulder and put it in “Park”. It has also suddenly shut down without warning while in drive. This has happened several times at different speeds, sometimes at a red light.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD ON ACCELERATION, CAUSING HARD JERKS. WHEN BRAKING RPMS IS STILL HIGH AND ENGINE IS HIGH. IT IS TRULY AN UNSAFE SITUATION. IT SEEMS THE CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO BE IN. AND WHEN YOU TURN IT DOES THE SAME.

I STARTED MY CAR UP IN THE MORNING AND WARMED IT UP FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES THEN AS I GO TO PUT IT IN REVERSE THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON I THEN PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF THEN I TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS STILL ON I DECIDED TO JUST GO BECAUSE I HAVE TO BE AT WORK IN AN HOUR AS I AM DRIVING DOWN I FIVE THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING LIKE THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE STARTED FLICKERING AND MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF AND I WAS NOW DRIVING DOWN I-5 IN THE DARK. FORTUNATELY I MADE IT TO MY LOCATION PARKED MY CAR AND IT COMPLETELY DIED. I DIDN'T OPEN MY HOOD AND STARTED CHECKING MY BATTERY AND MY ALTERNATOR ETC. I CONFIRMED MY BATTERY WAS FINE AND THAT MY ALTERNATOR HAD FAILED. I THEN NOTICE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO THE ALTERNATOR. NOW MY CAR IS HAS NO POWER AND EVEN IF I GET IT JUMPSTARTED IT JUST DIES.

IN 2008, I PURCHASE A NEW HONDA ACCORD V6 PAID WITH FINANCING $25,000. I PURCHASE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE TO NOT HAVE TO BE BOTHERED WITH SOMEONE ELSE PROBLEMS. WHEN MY CAR REACHED 100 THOUSAND MILES IN THE WINTER, I HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD AND I WAS LOOSING A LOT OF OIL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER. MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND START BLINKING. THE DEALER PULLED THE DTC AND THE P0301 COLD WAS PRESENT. A SERVICE BULLETIN 13-078 AND CASE # 312-CV-01377-S1 TOLD ME THAT WOULD BE NO COST TO ME BECAUSE I WAS A CLASS MEMBER. THIS WAS FROM A CLASS ACTION FILING THAT 1.5 MILLION HONDA WERE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD FIX MY $25,000 INVESTMENT HONDA I PURCHASE AND PAID IN FULL. SINCE THEN I WENT TO THE COMMUNITY HONDA DEALERSHIP IN ORLAND PARK ILLINOIS AND ON APRIL 2019 THE P0301 CODE WAS PRESENT AGAIN SOMETHING NEW AND THE P0420 DTC. I PAID AGAIN FOR TUNE UP WHICH THE 1ST CYLINDER WAS FOULED OUT AGAIN THE THIRD TIME THIS YEAR. THE DIRECTOR OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NAME BOB STATED FOR THIS REPAIR AGAIN WOULD COST ME $8,000 AND SMILED. I SAID I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT REPAIR AND BECAUSE NOW THAT THE FIRST REPAIR WHICH I WAS LEAD TO BELIEVE WAS GOING TO FIX THE EFFECT AND DID NOT. I WAS SOLD A LEMON AND I NEED HONDA TO REPURCHASE THIS VEHICLE AND GIVE ME A BRAND NEW VEHICLE SIMILAR TO THE ONE I PURCHASE FOR $25,000. THE COMMUNITY HONDA SERVICE DIRECTOR WOULD NOT WARRANTY MY TUNE UP BECAUSE HE SAID I NEED PISTON RINGS AGAIN. I THEN CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATION AND INFORMED THEM OF MY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE I PURCHASE WITH WAS A DEFECT. TOOK TWO WEEKS FOR THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR PER DANA HONDA REP STATED NO MORE ASSISTANCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE WHICH IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASE IF I HAD KNOWN. I THEN HAD TO GO TO PEP BOYS TO AVOID BLOWING THE ENGINE AND CATCHING A FIRE FOR REPA
AT 90,000 CAR SHOOK AND WAS MISFIRING. CODES PULLED WERE P301 AND 304. SPARK PLUGS 1-4 WERE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 13-078 WHICH EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 8 YEARS ON ENGINE MISFIRES. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE PISTONS AND THE PISTON RINGS WERE NOT INSPECTED AT THAT TIME. WHY NOT? WHO KNOWS WHAT CONDITION THEY WERE IN? THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US WITH SPARK PLUGS AS BAND-AIDS! IT HAPPENED AGAIN AT 103,000 MILES (WHICH WE PAID FOR) AND NOW AT 128,000 THE DEALERSHIP SAYS WE NEED A COMPLETE LOWER ENGINE REBUILD TO REPLACE PISTONS 1-3. OF COURSE AS A 2008, EVEN THOUGH LOW MILES, IT'S OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. I THOUGHT IN BUYING AN ACCORD, I COULD DRIVE IT FOR AT LEAST 150,000- AT LEAST! I WOULD LIKE THE WARRANTY FURTHER EXTENDED, OR AT LEAST FOR AMERICAN HONDA CORP TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIRS AS IT'S ONLY 3,000 MILES OUTSIDE OF THE ORIGINAL SERVICE BULLETIN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 125,000. IF HONDA ACKNOWLEDGED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THIS PARTICULAR V6 VTEC ENGINE, WHY DOES THE WARRANTY EXPIRE? SHOULDN'T THERE BE A GRACE PERIOD OR A COMPROMISE? WE ARE GETTING PUNISHED FOR CARING FOR OUR CAR AND HAVING LOW MILES ON IT. MANY FOLKS BENEFITTED FROM THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEIR CARS FAILED WITHIN THE 8 YEAR TIME FRAME BECAUSE THEY HAD HIGH MILES- HIGHER THAN OURS! WHAT ABOUT THOSE 08 ACCORDS THAT ARE STILL FAILING OUTSIDE OF THE 8 YEAR MARK THAT HAVE LOWER MILES THAN THE ONES HONDA COVERED UNDER WARRANTY??? I CONFIRMED THIS WITH A GOOGLE SEARCH. I WAS TOLD THAT, WERE THE PART NOT REPLACED, THE DAMAGE COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. COST - OVER $600. I COMPLAINED TO HONDA OF AMERICA, AND SOUGHT REIMBURSEMENT. THEY DENIED IT, SAYING IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. CAR HAS ABOUT 88,000 MILES AND WARRANTY WAS FOR 5 YEARS AND 30,000 MILES. HOWEVER, HONDA OF AMERICA REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE WOULD SUE HONDA IF IT WERE HIM. I SHOULD RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT, AND THERE SHOULD BE RECALL ON THIS PART.

RESULTS WERE BAD: A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. MY CAR HAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHICH COULD LED TO ME LOSING MY LIFE. NOT, ONLY THAT, WHEN I TRIED TO JUST DRIVE THE CAR A MILE BACK TO MY HOUSE IT WAS ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING BY IT SELF. I FOUND OUT WITHIN 2 WEEKS LATER BY TAKING IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP, THAT THE BRAKES, BRAKE LINES, CALIPER, EXHAUST SYSTEM ARE ALL AFFECTED BY SEVERE, DAMAGING RUST. DURING INSPECTION, INCLUSIVE WERE STICKING CALIPER. I HAD FRONT BRAKES REPLACED; BUT DUE TO RUST, TECHNICIAN HAD TO BAM & FORCE BRAKES LOSE. I WAS INFORMED OF THE RISKS WITH SEVERE RUSTING CAUSING PARTS TO BRAKE AND FAIL. NEW BRAKES WOULD NOT INSTALL PROPERLY AFTER OLD, SEATED BRAKES CAME OFF. WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STOPPING, THE BRAKE SYSTEM MAKES NOISE, AND SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING COMING APART DUE TO THE INSECURE FITTING OF BRAKES/ROTORS/CALIPERS, WHICH ALL HAVE A GREAT BUILD UP OF RUST. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO IN THESE CONDITIONS. IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO SELL SUCH VEHICLES THAT POSE SAFETY RISK IN BRAKE SYSTEM. HONDA INSPECTION SUGGESTED THAT RUST WAS SO SEVERE THAT CAR COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN DAMAGED BY SALT WATER/SNOW/ICE OR FLOOD. CAR ORIGINATED FROM UP NORTH. RE-SALE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.

THEIR SOLUTION WAS ANYTIME I NEEDED OIL I COULD STOP BY ANY HONDA DEALERSHIP & THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO TOP IT OFF FOR ME. BECAUSE OF THIS OIL PROBLEM & THE SENSOR CONSISTENTLY STAYING ON THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER & SHOT OUT THE TIMING BELT. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE LAST JULY2015. AFTER SENDING HONDA NUMEROUS LETTERS RON FROM HONDA MOTOR CO FINALLY CONTACTED ME. FINAL RESULT HIS RECOMMENDATION WAS TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST TO BE DONE & IF THERES ANY OTHER PROBLEMS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THUS I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR SOME GAS AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE ' THUS I ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONTACTED A TOWING COMPANY. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED ME VIA PHONE AND LET ME KNOW THAT THERE WAS NO COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER 2 AND THAT I LIKELY NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE INITIAL ESTIMATE WOULD BE $6,000 FOR A CAR WITH A BLUE BOOK VALUE OF $6,500 (DEALER TRADE IN.) I HAVE ALL SERVICE RECORDS AND FAITHFULLY SERVICED MY VEHICLE AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. I BELIEVE THE OIL ISSUE EXISTS REGARDLESS AS I AM CHECKING IT NOW AND DISCOVERED IT IS ALWAYS LOW. IN THIS CASE THE ENGINE RACE WAS MORE VIOLENT AND THE CAR SHUTTERED AS I STOOD ON THE BRAKES. I BELIEVE THE WHEELS WERE SPINNING AND I WAS CREEPING UPHILL. I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE IF MY FOOT WAS SQUARELY ON THE BRAKE AS DIDN'T WANT MY FOOT TO SLIP. MY RIGHT FOOT WAS SQUARELY ON MID PEDAL. I DO NOT DRIVE WITH BOTH FEET. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND AM VERY SAFETY CONSCIENCE. THIS TIME I AGAIN WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. I DID SEE THE ENGINE RPM NEAR 5000 WHEN I WENT INTO NEUTRAL. WHEN UPSHIFTING AT THOSE GEARS, THERE ARE OFTEN PROLONGED DELAYS. IN ADDITION, WHILE CRUISING IN THE LOW 60S MPH RANGE, THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY HUNTING FOR THE CORRECT GEAR. *TR
4-CYL ENGINE SHUTDOWN AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WHILE IDLING. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, WINDOWS AND MOONROOF WOULD OPEN BUT NOT CLOSE, SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT GO OUT OF "PARK". BY SOME MIRACLE DRIVER AND CAR SURVIVED RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT DUSK WITH ASSISTANCE FROM POLICE OFFICER. CAR TOWED TO HONDA DEALER WHO REPLACED 50 AMP FUSE (ACTUALLY A MULTIPLE FUSE) LABELED "IG". DEALER ADVISED BY HONDA TO GIGGLE WIRES TO TRY TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR AND DEALER RETURNED CAR AFTER 4 DAYS. OLD PART NOT AVAILABLE.
