The Airbag light is on and off randomly. The vehicle was taken into Honda where they set up a procedure that they have specifically for Airbag issues due to so many recalls. They told us the passenger side airbag qualifies for replacement under a Honda extended warranty and service bulletin. When it comes to the drivers side Airbag, Honda refuses to fix it under the warranty. The specific issue as stated by a Honda tech is "a short to the Airbag Inflator causing the Airbag to be deemed useless". This is clearly a manufacturers defect, seeing how the exact same issue was the reason that the passenger side airbag was recalled. So with this information I don't understand how the consumer is being expected to pay for the replacement and the remedy. It should fall on Honda to resolve this issue and make right by every owner of a vehicle with a defective airbag inflator.

Traffic bumper to bumper as 5 pm, stop and go near traffic lights. Tapped suv ahead and despite very very slow speed and not even scratch on my 2009 HONDA ACCORD COUPE - THE DRIVERS AIR BAG DEPLOYED & Seatbelt locked up. Contacted HONDA CORPORATE where they opened case and promised “taking care of, shouldn’t have happened, and not to worry”. 2 weeks later HONDA changed response when I called for update and told me to deal with my insurance company. Very unpleasant & unprofessional. Car evaluated and needed seatbelt & air bag replacement. They too confirmed not even scratch front of car, only has 83k miles! Now everyone claiming no seatbelts available.

Airbag light always on in my dashboard

My daughter was in an accident on 9/28/2021 and the air bag exploded and she said it burned her but it was actually some type of metal. The vehicle was inspected by the insurance company. I ended up buying the vehicle back and when the car was delivered to the repairman, it was note that is was a faulty air bag. I am not sure about the other questions as it relates to warning lamps, ect.. It has been inspected by State Farm, the car is still in my possession. I was advised to report the airbag blowout. It was stated on my Market valuation Report under Supplemental information that HONDA is recalling certain 2003-2012 Honda Accord for incorrectly installed air bag may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. NHTSA Campaign ID 18v268000, 19v182000, 19v378000 & 19v502000.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a burning odor detected prior to the illumination of air bag warning light. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence then towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic informed the contact that there was a recall for the air bag. However, when the contact contacted the dealer, the dealer informed the contact that there was no air bag recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was repaired by the independent mechanic, who replaced the air bag control unit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN for the air bag. The failure mileage was 105,516.

THE SRS UNIT HAS FAILED WHICH IS AN ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM IN SOME 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORDS BUT MY PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. CONSIDERING THE FAILURE AND THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM HONDA ON THIS EXACT ISSUE, MY CAR SHOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL FREE OF CHARGE. I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT BEING ON.

A MECHANIC CAME TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE HE INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE PRIOR RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE AIR BAG AND LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V502000(AIR BAGS). THERE ARE CURRENTLY ZERO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

THE DEALER STATES THERE IS A "FRONT WEIGHT SENSOR FAILURE" AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED FOR COST OF $882.32. HONDA INDICATES THIS PART IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND WILL NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS. I BELIEVE THE AIRBAGS SHOUD BE FUNCTIONAL AFTER THE RECALL REAIR WAS COMPLETED.

WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA TODAY TO ASK IF THE CAR HAD BEEN SOLD OR DEMOLISHED, SO WE CALLED GUNN HONDA. THEY SAID THEY HADN'T EVER HEARD OF US, BUT THEY'LL TAKE THE CAR MONDAY. TAKATA RECALL HAVE ATTEMPTED BOTH WITH LOCAL DEALER AND HEADQUARTERS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT MY AIRBAG AND THE COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN WILLING TO HELP. I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA ACCORD FROM AUTOPARK HONDA IN CARY, NC SEVERAL YEARS AGO. A FEW MONTHS AGO I LOOKED ON RECALL.GOV TO SEE IF THE AIRBAG INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL. RECALL.GOV LISTED IT AS UNDER RECALL. I CONTACTED AUTOPARK ABOUT THIS. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I ASKED WHY IT WAS SHOWING ON THE GOVERNMENT LISTING AND THEY DID NOT KNOW. I ASKED IF ONE OF THE TAKATA AIRBAGS UNDER RECALL (WHICH ARE DANGEROUS TO HAVE IN THE VEHICLE) WAS INSTALLED IN MY CAR. THEY WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME AND DECLINED TO LOOK INTO IT. SO, I WROTE A LETTER TO HONDA'S CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS (IN TORRANCE, CA) EXPLAINING AND ASKING IF ONE OF THE RECALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS WAS INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE. THEY SENT ME A FORM LETTER IN RETURN. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A LETTER DATED JULY 2016 STATING THAT IN FACT MY CAR IS PART OF THE RECALL, AND INSTRUCTING ME TO NOT HAVE, " ANY PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL REPAIR." NOW MY CAR IS IN MY GARAGE SINCE JULY UNDRIVEABLE. I CANNOT DRIVE MY FAMILY ANYWHERE AND THE CAR SITS. THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL FIX IT. I CALLED AGAIN ON 07/21/2016 AND FOUND OUT THAT A CASE WAS NEVER OPENED FOR ME AND THERE IS NO RECORD OF MY CONTACT ON 07/19. ANOTHER CASE WAS SUPPOSEDLY OPENED, AND I FOLLOWED UP AGAIN ON 07/22/16, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT AGAIN, MY CASE WAS NEVER CREATED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, A CITY STREET TRAVELING 30 MPH, AND MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THEY HAVE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED RECALLS ON 2008-2009 HONDA 4-DOOR ACCORDS FOR THE SENSITIVITY OF THE SIDE IMPACT SENSORS BEING TOO HIGH. THIS ISN'T AN ISSUE THAT'S EXCLUSIVE TO THEIR 4-DOOR SEDANS, AND ALSO RELATES TO THEIR 2 DOOR COUPE. AS A RESULT OF MY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE ME ANY EXPLANATION AS TO WHY MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT WOULDN'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I ALSO HAD MY INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND AFTER THEIR THOROUGH EXAMINATION THEY DEEMED IT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT I WOUND UP HAVING TO PAY $2600 FOR MY AIRBAGS TO BE REPLACED. TAKATA RECALL. I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD 2-DR AND THE RECALL IS APPLIED TO THE 4-DR ONLY. HOWEVER, I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE MY CAR'S ISSUE BETTER THAN THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (I-35) WITH APPROX. 65 MPH, GOING STRAIGHT NOT TURNING IN ANY WAY. I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP NOISE AND MY PASSENGER'S SEAT AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. HONESTLY, IT'S VERY HARD TO TELL IF I RAN OVER A POTHOLE OR IF I HIT A ROCK BECAUSE THE LOUD NOISE AND MY SHOCK DOMINATED THE MOMENT. THANKFULLY, I WAS COMMUTING ALONE THAT DAY AND NOBODY GOT HURT. I STOPPED THE CAR TO INSPECT IT AND I COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I FILLED A CLAIM WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST HONDA CENTER FOR A DIAGNOSIS ($120). HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUESTED THAT ONE OF THEIR FIELD ENGINEERS INSPECTED THE CAR. AFTER HIS INSPECTION, HE DETERMINED THAT AN IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. WHEN I REQUESTED TO SEE THE IMPACT SIGNS, THEY POINTED A SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. THEY SAID THAT THE SCRATCH SEEMS MINOR ONLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON THE TOUGHEST PART OF THE CAR, THE FRAME RAIL. THAT SCRATCH IS ALMOST UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SENSOR. I ASKED FOR MORE INFORMATION, SUCH AS THE THRESHOLD WHEN AN AIRBAG DEPLOYS, HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT THIS SCRATCH WAS NOT THERE BEFORE, ETC. THEY DIDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, INSTEAD THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SCRATCH WAS "FRESH". I'M ATTACHING THE PICTURES OF THE SCRATCH ON THE FRAME RAIL. IT'S NOT VERY OBVIOUS BUT LOOK AT THE SILVER SCRAPE. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR TO MY INSURANCE (PROGRESSIVE). THEY WERE BAFFLED WITH WHAT THEY SAW AND THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH SCRATCH WOULD CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE ESTIMATOR HELPING ME WASN'T SURE IF THEY'LL COVER IT. HE'LL ELEVATE THE ISSUE AND CALL ME ON MONDAY. HONDA DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THIS AS A DEFECT SINCE THEY FOUND A SCRATCH. TODAY THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR CONSTANTLY TURNS ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING REGARDLESS WHETHER ANYONE OR ANYTHING IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IF THE INDICATOR IS CORRECTLY MONITORING MY PASSENGER AIRBAGS, THEN I AM DRIVING MY CAR 70 % OF THE TIME WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS NEVER KNOWING IF THEY WILL DEPLOY PROPERLY, WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS. AROUND SEPTEMBER 6, 2013, WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET, MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER CLOSING THE CAR DOOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT AMERICAN HONDA WHO SAID THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, YES IT WAS BACK IN 2010. HONDA WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND SAID TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. IF YOU LOOK ONLINE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS, WITH SEVERAL MAKES. IS HONDA WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET KILLED BEFORE ISSUING A RECALL? HONDA SAID I PROBABLY HIT A POTHOLE OR CURB, IF THAT WERE THE CASE THERE WOULD BE HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND AIR BAGS DEPLOYING. HONDA IN CALIFORNIA WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. GLAD IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY WHERE SOMEONE COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED. MAYBE IF IT HAPPENED TO A HONDA CORPORATE EMPLOYEE'S CAR THEY MIGHT FIX IT!!! I HAVE PRINTED OUT PAGES UPON PAGES OF HONDA OWNERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND I WILL BE AT THE DEALERSHIP HANDING OUT THIS INFORMATION TO INCOMING CUSTOMERS TO LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE TPMS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, IT WENT OFF AND THEN CAME BACK ON. THE DEALER STATED BY PLUGGING IN HER CELL PHONE, IT WAS CAUSING THE LIGHT TPMS LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. UPDATED 07/18/12

A NOISE HAS DEVELOPED IN OUR 2009 HONDA ACCORD IN THE DASH, WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AND RIGHT SIDE "A" PILLAR AIR BAGS ARE LOCATED. THE CAR HAS BEEN RETURNED TO A LOCAL DEALER ON 3 SEPERATE OCCASIONS. THEY CONTINUE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING SOME TYPE OF PADDING IN THE DASH. AFTER EACH REPAIR, THE NOISE RETURNS AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MILES. I HAVE ASKED THEM ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO REMOVE THE DASH/AIR BAGS AND INSPECT THE EFFECTED AREAS. I HAVE ALSO REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE HONDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT. THEY HAVE INDICATED THEY WILL REVIEW MY INFORMATION AND HAVE SOMEONE CALL BACK. MY CONCERNS ARE; THAT SOMETHING IS LOOSE, CREATING THE NOISE, ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT SOME TYPE OF PROBLEM MAY EXIST WITH THE AIR BAGS WHICH COULD RESULT IN EITHER AN UNWANTED/NON DEPLOYMENT SITUATION OR IF SOMETHING IS RUBBING ON A WIRING HARNESS A PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FIRE. *KB

NO CRASH YET, BUT CRASH LIKELY. 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS DIM HEAD LIGHTS THAT CREATE A BLACK BLANKET IN FRONT OF DRIVER AND NARROWS ON ANY DIP IN ROAD. VISIBILITY VERY POOR, AND THE BLACK BLANKET EFFECT IN FRONT OF YOU MOVES UP AND DOWN BECAUSE CAR BOUNCES ALOT DUE TO STIFF SUSPENSION WITH A WHEEL SYSTEM THAT IS TOO BIG FOR CAR , THUS CREATING THE NEED FOR A LOW PROFILE TIRE THAT CAUSES CAR TO BOUNCE ALOT. THE DRIVER IS VERY LIKELY TO WRECK UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO RUN WITH YOUR BRIGHT LIGHTS ON AND THEN BLIND FELLOW ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE CARS, AND CONSUMERS SHOULD BE WARNED. DEALER STATES LIGHT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATION, BUT THEY WERE GOING TO ADJUST MY LIGHTS AT FIRST, BUT I WAS TOLD NOT TO TURN BRIGHT LIGHTS ON SO AS NOT TO BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THAT I WAS TENTH PERSON TO BRING CAR IN TO BE ADJUSTED. I BECAME ANGRY THAT I MIGHT BE AT FAULT IF A WRECK OCCURRED , AND SUGGESTED THAT THEY WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG IF GOVERNMENT SAID LIGHTS SHOULD BE ONE WAY, BUT AFTER CAR BOUGHT, LIGHT ADJUSTED ANOTHER WAY. THEY THEN REFUSED TO ADJUST MY LIGHT BECAUSE THEY BECAME AFRAID OF ATTORNEY GENERAL THREAT. THEY ALSO THEN CHANGED THEIR STORY ABOUT THE 10 PEOPLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, AND I HAVE ONE OF THESE CARS WHICH IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. HONDA SHOULD BE MADE TO REIMBURSE US. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS CAR. I TRIED TO RETURN MY VEHICLE AFTER BUYING IT ON A SATURDAY AT CLOSING, THEN DISCOVERING THIS DEFECT ON SUNDAY. I RETURNED VEHICLE ON MONDAY, BUT THEY WOULD NOT RESCIND THE DEAL. *TR
