At the time of purchase, the mileage was 92,000, and at the time of reviewing the Insurance, it was discovered that the mileage was 225,000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts without warning. After obtaining a Carfax report, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 52,000 and it was discovered that the mileage was approximately 148,000.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing an oil leak. The dealer diagnosed that the valve cover gasket had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the valve cover gasket was replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that a hairline fracture in the engine housing had caused the oil vacuum seal to fracture and the oil to leak. The dealer replaced the engine housing. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal loud sound coming from underneath the hood, and the vehicle skipped gears and lunged forward. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH, the contact noticed a burning chemical odor. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned on the hazard lights. The contact then drove to the residence, where the contact opened the hood and noticed that the battery had melted. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

The contact was informed that the failure might be related to a faulty electrical system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Had to replace the battery. Turns out the alternator was not charging the battery. I then replaced the alternator. The alternator was contaminated with oil from the VVT. The Variable Valve Timing Solenoid Assembly that is located above the alternator needs to be replaced also. Otherwise the oil leak will damage the alternator again.

THE SRS UNIT HAS FAILED WHICH IS AN ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM IN SOME 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORDS BUT MY PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. CONSIDERING THE FAILURE AND THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM HONDA ON THIS EXACT ISSUE, MY CAR SHOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL FREE OF CHARGE. I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT BEING ON.

DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO RACINE HONDA - DEALER SERVICE & PARTS (9501 WASHINGTON AVE, RACINE, WI 53406) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT HAD THE ALTERNATOR AND THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED. SINCE THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER EACH TIME TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. AND IF YOU WANT TO USE CAR WITHOUT RUNNING BATTERY DOWN MY HUSBAND HAS PULLED A FUSE OR TWO BUT THIS DISABLES SEVERAL THINGS RADIO, SOME DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS. WHICH IF IT KEEPS GOING COULD BE PROBLEMATIC ON THE FUNCTION OF THE HONDA MAYBE AFFECTING LIGHTS EVENTUALLY OR OTHER SAFETY FEATURES. SO WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW BAD IT CAN GET AND HOW IT CAN BE FIXED. AFTER PULLING INTO A SHOPPING AREA PARKING LOT, WITH THE CAR STATIONARY AND THE ENGINE OFF, THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPEN TRAPPING US IN THE CAR IN THE SUNLIGHT OF A 90 DEGREE DAY, PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK ACTUATOR TO UNLOCK THE DOORS BY USING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON FAILS TO UNLOCK THE DOORS THEREBY PREVENTING THE OCCUPANTS FROM GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND HAS SUBJECTED MY WIFE AND I TO BEING TRAPPED IN THE CAR IN RAPIDLY RISING HEAT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES UNTIL AFTER REPEATEDLY PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON THE DOORS UNLOCK. THE CAR IS NOT CAPABLE OF STARTING DURING THIS TIME. THIS FRIGHTENING CIRCUMSTANCE HAS NOW HAPPENED A FEW TIMES - NOT COMFORTABLE FOR TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR SEVENTIES.

ONCE AAA ARRIVED, THEY STATED THAT IT WAS MY BATTERY. HE THEN SAID THIS BATTERY IS NOT ANY GOOD, I TOLD HIM I HAD JUST BOUGHT IT 6 MONTHS PRIOR FROM AAA . SO THE DRIVER REPLACED MY BATTERY FOR FREE. THIS WOULD BE MY 3RD BATTERY IN 1.5 YEARS. NEW PROBLEM, MY CAR STILL WOULD NOT START. NOT KNOWING THE PROBLEM, MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CLAIMED THAT MY FUEL FILTER HAD WENT BAD, THAT THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE ANY GAS. FIRST OF ALL, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL FILTER GOING BAD ESPECIALLY WITH THE MILEAGE ON Y CAR. HONDA SERVICE STATES TO REPLACE THE FILTER AROUND 75,000. SINCE I WAS NO WHERE NEAR 75K WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. ANYWAY, I HAD THE FUEL FILTER REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. AT THIS POINT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SHOWING THERE WAS STILL A PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC THEN STATED THAT MY O2 SENSOR WENT BAD. SO, I REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED. MY CAR IS TOO YOUNG FOR THIS MANY ISSUES. MY CAR HAD A LITTLE OVER 60K BUT I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES, REPLACED THE BALL BEARINGS, O2 SENSOR AND GAS FILTER. THERE ARE TONS OF FORUMS ONLINE WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT THAT WAS FILED SOMETIME IN 2012. FROM EVERYTHING I HAVE READ FROM RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, HONDA EITHER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, SUPPOSEDLY INSTALLS SOME COMPUTER UPGRADE THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, TELLS PEOPLE THEIR ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REBUILT, IS TOLD THEY NEED TO RUN A DIFFERENT TYPE OF OIL, OR LIKE MYSELF WAS TOLD THAT IT IS COMPLETELY NORMAL FOR THESE ENGINES TO CONSUME 1 QUART OF OIL PER 1000 MILES DRIVEN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPAIRS RELATED TO REMOTE START AND MAIN FUSE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, SHE PURCHASED A HONDA CARE VEHICLE SERVICE CONTRACT EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE START. HOWEVER, ON NOVEMBER 13, 2011, HER SON WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED A MAIN FUSE HAD BLOWN, POSSIBLY DUE TO THE REMOTE START. THE FUSE WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, ON DECEMBER 9, 2011, THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN AGAIN, AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINED, A WIRE IN THE REMOTE START BLEW THE MAIN FUSE AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY $241.31 FOR THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO THE HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THE CONSUMER PURCHASED, BECAUSE THEY WERE CONCERNED THAT THE REMOTE START WAS AN AFTER MARKET COMPONENT. IT WAS DETERMINED, THAT THE SELLING DEALER DID IN FACT INSTALL THE REMOTE START THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE. *JB

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL COMES ON OR GOES OFF? YOU LOOK AT IT - TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. THE 'ECO' LIGHT (NOTIFICATION OF CYLINDER DEACTIVATION FEATURE BEING DIS/ACTIVATED) LOCATED JUST BELOW THE TACHOMETER REGULARLY COMES ON AND OFF CAUSING A DISTRACTION. MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A 2009 HONDA ACCORD FROM JOHN HINDERER HONDA. EVERY 27-30 SECONDS THE HEADLIGHTS FLASH WHEN RUNNING ANYTHING LIKE DEFROST OR A/C UNIT. SHE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING ROAD RAGE HARASSMENT AS PEOPLE BELIEVE SHE IS FLASHING THEM AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM MEDICAL ASSISTING SCHOOL IN WORTHINGTON,OHIO. WE TOOK TO DEALER THEY TESTED IT INSIDE AS WELL AS TWO OTHER VEHICLES THEY HAD OF SAME YEAR AND SAW THAT ALL VEHICLES HAD SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL TO SAVE GAS.DOESNT SEEM THE SAVINGS ARE WORTH THE RISKS TO ME.
