This August will make two years since my airbags deployed. When closing the passenger door, all of the airbags deployed(with the exception of the dashboard). This normal amount of force caused this to happen. I have also read many complaints with the same issue as mine, and a lot of them are not on the recall list. I want to file this complaint to hopefully bring forward a resolution. Also, around the same time, while traveling to another state, my piston rings failed. They collapsed together. I had to have it “fixed” and towed to a near by auto shop. When I got back on the road, another spark plug failed. When I finally got home with my car, I took it to my local dealership. After taking my entire engine apart, they found that my piston rings failed”collapsed together”. This was a hefty bill. After some more research on my car, I found that this is only one reason why this model of Honda was discontinued. There is a malfunction with the engineering. On [XXX] at 01:55 PM MT, I was stopped at a red traffic signal at [XXX] While waiting for the light to turn green to take left, a vehicle insured by GEICO, driven by [XXX] , hit my vehicle from little front and left side of my car (driver's side) when he was trying to take right turn in the [XXX] I was completely stationary and the accident was entirely caused by the other driver. The impact resulted in damages to my vehicle, specifically (front bumper broken completely, front light broken, two doors of driver side damaged completely, driver side mirror bent, difficult to open the two doors of the driver side and getting noises from my car). My concerns is that The airbags of the car didn't work and didn't come out during the accident. I immediately called 911, but they informed me that they could not dispatch an officer since there were no reported injuries. They advised me to get insurance details from the other driver. Airbag component control doesn't work which mean airbag won't deploy

The contact's daughter owned a 2010 Honda Accord. According to an accident report given to the contact by her local highway patrol office, her daughter was driving at 45 MPH when the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree. The impact of the vehicle hitting the tree caused the vehicle to catch fire. Based on the accident report, the airbags did not deploy upon impact. the report stated that every bone in her daughter's body was broken; she died as a result of the accident. The report stated that the vehicle burned to it's core and that a specialist had to be called to the scene to identify the vehicle. The contact initially reported her daughter missing and was informed 7 days later about her daughter's accident. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it was destroyed. The contact called an unknown Honda dealer and they stated that they had never heard of such a failure with that model vehicle; the dealer referred her to the NHTSA for assistance. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HENDRICK HONDA LOCATED AT 8901 SOUTH BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28273, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TYPICAL HONDA OIL CHANGE IS EVERY, 7,500 MILES (PER THEIR MANUAL) - IF WAITED THAT LONG NO OIL WOULD BE IN ENGINE. DANGEROUS AND SIGNIFICANT ISSUE - HONDA STATED IT WILL NOT FIX AND STATED 1/2 QT OF OIL BURNED EVERY 1,000 MILES IS NOT EXCESSIVE OR SIGNIFICANT !! - FROM A CAR OWNER, IT IS VERY SIGNIFICANT. COMPOUND THIS WITH THE MONTHS AND MONTHS WAIT FOR THE TAKATA RECALL FOR AIR BAGS ISSUE - THE HONDA 2010 CRV HAS SIGNIFICANT ISSUES. I HAVE A CO-WORKER THAT HAS A 2010 ACURA WITH 300,000 MILES AND OIL LOSS ISSUES.

I HAVE A BROKEN AIRBAG SENSOR WIRE UNDER MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE WIRE BROKE ON IT'S OWN FROM SIMPLY MOVING THE SEAT FOR MY DAUGHTER TO GET IN THE BACK SEAT. HONDA WANTS OVER $400 TO REPLACE THIS AND CLAIMS THE WIRE LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN CUT. HOWEVER I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE & NEVER CUT THIS WIRE. I TOOK THE CAR TP ANOTHER AUTO SHOP WHO GAVE ME THEIR OPINION THE WIRE SIMPLY BROKE THRU NORMAL USE. I BELIEVE HONDA NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS AT NO COST AS IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN & NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS LIT UP AT ALL TIMES & I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO HONDA OF FISHERS IN INDIANA I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE A $100 JUST TO RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS AND SINCE MY SPECIFIC MODEL OF CAR ISN'T UNDER A CURRENT RECALL I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS NEEDED OUT OF POCKET. THIS DOESN'T SEEM FAIR AS MY CAR SHOULD HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON SEAT BELTS AND RELATED SRS COMPONENTS. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD AT LEAST PROVIDE A FREE DIAGNOSTICS TO MAKE SURE MY AIRBAGS WILL WORK CORRECTLY AS PART OF A SAFETY MATTER. I FOUND MANY 2010 ACCORDS WERE RECALLED BUT APPARENTLY MY ACCORD COUPE WASN'T.

STATING THAT HONDA WILL SEND ME ANOTHER LETTER WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. ALSO STATING THAT "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED". THIS WAS 6 MONTHS AGO. 6 MONTHS IS A LONG TIME TO OPERATE A VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE SRS SENSOR INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AROUND SUNDAY 10/30/2016. TOOK THE CAR INTO MIDDLETOWN HONDA (MIDDLETOWN, NY) FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE SENSOR AND THAT IT ISN'T COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I LOOKED ON THE DOT WEBSITE AND ENTERED MY VIN AND SAW MY CAR DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL. BUT THERE IS, IN FACT, A RECALL FOR THE SRS SENSOR IN 341,000 OTHER HONDA ACCORDS. I CALLED THE 1-800 NUMBER FOR HONDA, AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE MY CAR DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE OF WHERE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT, CONSIDERING THE PART HAS CLEARLY FAILED. AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND, THIS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE ALL OF MY AIRBAGS TO FAIL. I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE TO BE FIXED. ON AUGUST 20TH AND AUGUST 27, I CALLED TO SEE IF PART WAS IN, AND DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS STILL ON ORDER AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT CAME IN. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. ON NOV 2, I CALLED AGAIN TO THE GARDENA HONDA DEALERSHIP. I SPOKE WITH KIM, WHO CLAIMED THERE WAS NO RECORD OF MY CAR BEING SERVICED THERE ( I HAVE BROUGHT IT 3-4 TIMES A YEAR SINCE PURCHASED IN 2010!) OR THE RECALLED PART BEING ORDERED. THE REMEDY HONDA PROVIDED IS TO "NOT HAVE A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT." THIS IS INSANE. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? SOMEONE HAS BEEN SITING IN MY FRONT SEAT FOR THE PAST 40 DAYS BEFORE I RECEIVED THE RECALL AND NOW MY CAR IS BASICALLY INOPERABLE FOR PASSENGERS FOR THE NEXT 3-6 MONTHS? THIS IS NOT A SUFFICIENT REMEDY OF A PRODUCTS COMPLETED MISTAKE BY HONDA. WE SHOULD BE PROVIDED RENTAL CARS AND RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT UNTIL THE CARS ARE FIXED. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED HONDA'S CUSTOMER SUPPORT NUMBER AND WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A CALL BY A "CASE MANAGER" IN THREE DAYS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING AND COMPLETELY DANGEROUS. THE RECALL VERBATIM LISTS " METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CAUSING INJURY TO THE PASSENGER". WELL WHY WOULDN'T THOSE FRAGMENTS HURT SOMEONE IN THE BACKSEAT OR COME OVER TO THE DRIVER SIDE? HONDA IS BASICALLY SAYING IF YOU GET IN A CAR CRASH AND YOUR AIRBAG DEPLOYS YOU ARE GOING TO GET HURT.
