There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. There was no air bag deployment. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The local dealer was contacted but was not diagnosed or repaired. I was involved in a car accident on 12/12/2. The air bags didn't deploy. They definitely should have. I have pictures of the outside of the vehicle. I can receive police report the insurance currently has the vehicle. We were traveling 70mph and was tboned then ended up sliding out of control and hitting the ground after a 4ft drop off a drainage ditch. Two points of impact the car is totaled and not one airbag deployed.

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIRBAG SENOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA19001 (AIR BAGS) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER BILL KAY HONDA (1360 LOCKE DR, BOURBONNAIS, IL 609140) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED NO RECALL WAS PRESENT UNDER THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED WHEN THE CAR WAS HIT FROM THE REAR AND PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. 2 IMPACTS WERE FELT FROM BEHIND FROM. AT THIS TIME THE CAR IS DISABLED AND I AM AWAITING FOR ESURANCE TO EVALUATE MY LOSS. I AM VERY CONCERN THAT THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN A DEADLY SITUATION FOR MYSELF AS WELL AS THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR. I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE TRAVELING WESTBOUND WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS AND THE CAR FROM BEHIND PUSHED MY CAR INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. VARIOUS FORUMS AND MY OWN VEHICLE HAS THE ISSUE. I HAVE VIDEOS AND SOUND TO PROVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT HONDA IS REPAIRING ON ACCORD'S FROM 2008-2012 ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH A LOUD START-UP AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE WEATHER IS REALLY COLD, THE ENGINE WON'T START. HONDA DOES HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT FOR OLDER CARS.

(LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY CAN CAUSE THESE AIRBAGS TO EXPLODE WHEN DEPLOYED) MY HORN LOCATED IN THE STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY BLARES WHEN EXPOSED TO HIGH HEAT WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND STATIONARY. THIS ISSUE COMES AND GOES AND THE DEALERSHIP "HONDA WORLD" LOCATED IN DOWNEY, CA. REFUSES TO INSPECT THE ISSUE. THEY TELL ME THE PROBELM NEEDS TO OCCUR FOR THEM TO INSPECT THE ISSUE. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 05/2016 THIS ISSUE ONLY OCCURES IN THE SUMMER TIME NOT THE WINTER WHICH TELLS ME IT'S BEING CAUSED BY HEAT. TAKATA RECALL I OWN TWO HONDA ACCORDS, A 2010 HONDA ACCORD (VIN [XXX]) AND A 2013 HONDA ACCORD VIN [XXX]). BOTH ACCORDS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED IN THE TAKATA BANKRUPTCY PROCEEDINGS AS NEEDING AIR BAG REPLACEMENTS. I FINALLY RECEIVED THE OFFICIAL HONDA RECALL FOR THE 2010 HONDA ACCORD PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THIS PAST FRIDAY, 2/23/18. I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL TO FIX THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD AIR BAG(S). I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED BOTH CARS NEW AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A RECALL "AT SOME FUTURE POINT" FOR THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD, BUT THE SERVICE ADVISOR I SPOKE TO COULD NOT BE MORE SPECIFIC THAN THAT. IN DECEMBER, 2017 THERE WERE NO AIRBAG RECALLS FOR EITHER HONDA ACCORD ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. I JUST CHECKED AGAIN FOR AN AIRBAG RECALL ON THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD AND NOTHING FOR AIRBAGS. THE RECALL FOR THE 2010 HONDA ACCORD SPECIFICALLY STATES: "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED." OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS PRETTY DANGEROUS STUFF. I HAVE RECEIVED NO ADVISORIES AND NO SAFETY ADVICE OR PRECAUTIONS FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION / AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING FRONT PASSENGERS OR STEPS TO TAKE TO AVOID INJURY IN CASE OF AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IN THE MEANTIME (OR UNTIL SUCH TIME AS A RECALL IS OFFICIALLY ORDERED). IF THESE TAKAKA AIRBAGS ARE A KNOWN DANGEROUS ISSUE FOR OVER TWO YEARS NOW AND THESE AIRBAGS CAN KILL OR INJURE PASSENGERS, AND MY 2010 HONDA JUST RECEIVED IT'S RECALL NOW, IN FEBRUARY, 2018 - WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE THE RECALL ON MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD? 2021?I CANNOT SELL OR TRADE MY 2013 BECAUSE OF THIS KNOWN AIRBAG PROBLEM, OTHER DEALERS WILL NOT TOUCH THIS CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE YEARS LATER. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

CAR WAS IN DRIVE OF HOME, STARTED CAR AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS STAYED ON. WOULD NOT CLEAR. DROVE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, BRAKES WERE BARLEY OPERABLE, CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND POWER STEERING ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. DEALERSHIP FIRST REPLACED THE BATTERY, CLEARING THE CODES FOR A FEW MINUTES, THE NEXT DAY THEY ARE REPLACING A BAD VSA MODULE THAT CONTROL THE ABS AND OTHER SAFETY FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR. THE ACCORD ONLY HAS 67K MILES AND THESE SENSORS ARE 1700 PLUS DOLLARS. RESEARCHING, I HAVE FOUND A GREAT DEAL OF THESE FAILING -USUALLY WHEN THE HONDA IS IN MOTION. I WAS FORTUNATE MINE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME.

ON FRI SEPT 29TH, 2017 I HAD AN SUA (SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION) IN MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD THAT DEVASTATED PART OF AN OFFICE BUILDING AND WRECKED MY CAR. I WAS IN AN OFFICE PARK PARKING LOT AND BACKED UP, HIT A 3 FOOT HIGH CONCRETE BOLLARD, WAS ANNOYED, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, FELT AN ODD LURCH AS THOUGH THE BUMPER WAS STUCK ON SOMETHING ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND AT THAT MOMENT THE CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED TO WHAT FELT LIKE 30 OR 40 MILES AN HOUR. I TRIED TO BRAKE BUT IT FELT AS THOUGH THERE WAS NO PRESSURE UNDER MY FOOT. I GRIPPED THE STEERING WHEEL IN TERROR AND STEERED THE CAR AWAY FROM OTHER PARKED CARS AND INTO A CONCRETE WHEELCHAIR RAMP WITH RAILS AND AN OFFICE BUILDING. THE AIR BAG WENT OFF. THE CONCRETE RAMP AND OFFICE BUILDING STOPPED THE CAR IN ITS TRACKS. I PUT IT IN PARK AND GOT OUT. I'M DOING OK BUT MOSTLY VERY VERY GRATEFUL I DIDN'T HURT OR KILL ANYONE. MINOR AIRBAG BURN ON MY ARM AND A CONTUSION TO MY KNEE. I FEEL THE AIRBAG ONLY CAME OUT A LITTLE AND HIT MY LEFT ARM, NOT THE REST OF MY BODY. BUT I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THAT. I'M GLAD BECAUSE AS A PHYSICAL THERAPIST I'VE SEEN SOME NASTY AIR BAG INJURIES. ALSO I DID NOT HAVE MY SEAT BELT ON BECAUSE I OFTEN PUT IT ON AS I LEAVE A PARKING LOT. NOT A GOOD IDEA, BUT ALSO NO NASTY SEAT BELT INJURY. JUST STIFF ARMS, PAINFUL LEFT KNEE AND NECK, A FEW DAYS LATER. I REALIZE EVERYONE IS GOING TO SAY I HAD THE FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR BUT I WAS AT A DEAD STOP WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO ACCELERATE AND SERIOUSLY, AFTER ALMOST 40 YEARS OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE THIS TERROR AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THE POLICEMAN WHO CAME TO THE SCENE WOULD TESTIFY TO THE FACT THAT I WAS COMPLETELY SANE AND SOBER AT THE TIME. TODAY, WE HEARD THE CAR WILL BE APPRAISED AS TOTALED. GOOD NEWS MEANING IT WILL NO LONGER BE DRIVEN.

ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT. AROUND THE SAME TIME, HER MIRROR GOT KNOCKED OFF HER PASSENGER DOOR. I CONTACTED HONDA, WHO EVENTUALLY SAID THEY HAD DETERMINED IT WAS NOT A DEFECT AND THAT I NEEDED TO PURSUE A CLAIM WITH MY AUTO INSURANCE. MY CASE NUMBER WITH HONDA IS [XXX]. I MADE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY, PROGRESSIVE. THAT CLAIM NUMBER IS [XXX]. I SENT NHTSA AN EMAIL COMPLAINT AT THAT TIME, BUT NEVER HEARD BACK. TODAY I RECEIVED AN AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE ON A 2012 HONDA ACCORD MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER OWNS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT NHTSA HAS NOT RESPONDED. I ULTIMATELY PAID $2,984.60 IN REPAIRS FOR THE AIRBAGS. IN RETROSPECT, AFTER THE SHOCK AT ALL THE DAMAGE, I BELIEVE SOMETHING WAS DEFECTIVE ABOUT MY NEW HONDA ACCORD.

AFTER HEARING A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL (SUCH AS A CLICKING NOISE OR SQUEAKING), TURNING IT LEFT AND/OR RIGHT, I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 08/20/2013. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE STEERING WHEEL AND DETERMINED THAT THE CABLE REEL FOR THE AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ME FOR "SAFETY" UNTIL THE PART WAS TO BE REPLACED (AND THE STEERING CONSOLE HAD BEEN DISASSEMBLED). THE DEALER REPLACED THE CABLE REEL ON THE CAR. 2 MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR, I STARTED HEARING THE SAME NOISE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT/RIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON 12/26/2013 WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE DEALER INSPECTION DETERMINED THAT THE CABLE REEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN (5,484 MILES). THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT DISASSEMBLE THE STEERING CONSOLE, THEY WOULD ORDER THE REPLACEMENT PART AND I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN FOR THE REPLACEMENT WHEN THE PART ARRIVES (THIS IS THE SECOND REPAIR IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS). I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHY THIS WAS A RECURRING ISSUE? THEY INDICATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED THEM WITH THE PART AND THEY ARE REPLACING IT ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. AND 11 HOURS LATER THEY SAID THE AIRBAG UNIT IN THE STEERING WHEEL HAD FAILED AND BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE I COULD LEAVE WITH THE CAR WE WILL GIVE YOU A RENTAL, AND I COULD PICK MY CAR UP IN A DAY OR 2, I SAID OK, THEN THAT DAY TURNED INTO ANOTHER THEN ANOTHER, THEN AFTER ME DRIVING BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP AND WAITING ANOTHER 4 HOURS WHILE THEY FIGURED OUT WHAT TO DO I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART HONDA HAS NOT EVEN RELEASED YET, AND THE RELEASE DATE IS JUNE 4TH, I WAS LIVID, I TOLD THEM THEY NEED TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER ONE, THAT THIS WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BECAUSE THIS WAS THE 4TH HONDA I GOT FROM THEM, THEY TOLD ME THEY LIKE TO TRY AND FIX IT, I SAID BY THE TIME I GET IT MY FIRST PAYMENT ON THE CAR WOULD ALMOST BE DUE, THEY SAID WELL LET ME SEE IF WE CAN FIGURE SOMETHING OUT, CALL US NEXT WEDNESDAY AND TALK TO THEM AGAIN, I AM SO MAD THAT HONDA DOES NOT EVEN MAKE THESE PARTS AVAILABLE ON A CAR THAT HAS BEEN OUT FOR 8 MONTHS, I LEFT IN THE RENTAL AND CALLED HONDA AND WAS TOLD THEY NORMALLY DO THIS ON NEWER CARS, BUT WE WILL GIVE YOU CALL BACK AFTER THE HOLIDAY, TO DATE STILL WAITING ON MY CAR THAT I HAVE NEVER EVEN GOT TO TAKE HOME, SOMEONE NEEDS TO INFORM HONDA THAT THEY NEED TO HAVE THESE PART AVAILABLE WHEN THE CARS ARE.
