Dear - NHTSA Vehicle Safety Division, I am writing to formally document my ongoing concern regarding a faulty Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module in my Honda vehicle, which I believe poses a serious safety risk. Despite contacting Honda Corporation on four separate occasions to address this issue, the company has refused to acknowledge or accept responsibility for what appears to be a recurring defect found in several Honda models produced between 2013 and 2018. The vehicle was inspected by a certified technician at a Honda dealership, who confirmed that the braking failure stemmed from a malfunction of the ABS module. The technician also acknowledged that this issue is common in Hondas from the aforementioned model years. I relayed this information to Honda directly, along with my willingness to cover part of the repair cost, but was offered no resolution or goodwill support. The replacement part alone is quoted at over $3,100—an unacceptable burden for what appears to be a known issue. As a loyal Honda customer who has purchased five Honda vehicles over the years, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability and response from both the dealership and American Honda Motor Co. This is my first experience encountering this level of disregard from a brand I once trusted for quality and dependability. Unfortunately, Honda’s approach to this problem no longer reflects the reliability and professionalism customers have come to expect. I am submitting this statement in support of any formal investigation into systemic safety concerns regarding ABS modules in affected Honda vehicles. I have a Honda accord ex sedan then driving in the rain and down pouring the car lights would flicker like no power to drive. When I stop it goes off. This has happen to me 2 times. I seen there might of been a recall on my car so I thought I would check to see. I have a [XXX] son always like to make sure I don't have an issue. Failure to start problems began about 3 years ago. Initially we had to push the start button several times to get the car started. It got progressively worse. We paid $810. to replace the starter with a remanufactured starter part. The dealership said they used the remanufactured part because it had a 3 year warranty while a new starter would have only a 1 year warranty. It worked for 3 or 4 months and then started to act up again. The dealership replaced the starter again with another remanufactured starter part in November of "24. Now it is March of "25 and my wife is marking the calendar again on the days the starter malfunctions which has been several days in the past month. We have been left stranded and I fear this could result in a serious safety problem if it happended in heavy traffic or some other vulnerable situation. There are many Honda starter complaints on the internet! Why hasn't there been a recall?

MY ABS & all related braking lights on dash display pop up every now & then, on & off, & is not on permanently full time. Mechanic said it could be the module. I heard it last week on the radio about this Honda issue & said it was a safety & braking issue. I don’t see it on the recall list, but people with a 2013 Accord has many complaints about it on YouTube web & various searches. This should be a recall & what are we supposed to do about this safety defect?

On December 10, 2024, while driving at approximately 45 mph on State Street, my vehicle suddenly lost all power and stalled. The dashboard lights went out, and there were no prior warning indicators. Thankfully, I was able to coast safely off the road and restart the vehicle after it stalled. Before this incident, I had experienced multiple occasions when my car took unusually long to start. When pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle struggled to accelerate, feeling like it had no power. On December 26, 2024, I received an email stating that certain 2013–2023 Honda Accords might be subject to a recall due to a faulty fuel pump. However, after checking my specific VIN, I found no active recalls listed for my vehicle. Given the issues I have been experiencing over the past year—including stalling and power loss—I believe my vehicle may be affected by the same faulty fuel pump issue. I am filing this complaint to document that the identified fuel pump issue may affect more vehicles from these model years.

We were driving on the highway when the vehicle began stalling and failed to accelerate. We pulled onto the shoulder and all of the lights on the dash were on "Check engine, Electric Power Steering light, and low fuel light: The vehicle had half a tank of gas, so it was not a low fuel issue. After a few attempts the car finally started again and began to pick up power. My neighbor who is a certified Acura mechanic, used his diagnostic tool and the error code P0087 popped up indicating a drop in fuel rail/system pressure. This is the first time this has happened to this vehicle. We have serviced it regularly at our local Honda dealer since we purchased the vehicle. We see that there is an active recall for the exact issue we experienced NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-858, however, our VIN number was not included in that for some reason. We feel strongly that the issue is indicative and matches that recall campaign and are requesting this recall be investigated and expanded.

When overtaking a car on a one lane highway, the engine suddenly started to sputter and the steering felt unstable, and a few seconds later, four engine lights turned on (Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Vehicle Stability Assist System Indicator, Electric Power Steering System Indicator, Low Tire Pressure/TPMS Indicator). I was able to drive the car to an auto shop, where their mechanics did a diagnosis and found codes P0087, 83-11, 61-11, 85-01. While cycling through the codes all lights turned off, so they advised that I could continue to drive the car as is. A few weeks later, the same problem happened when I was driving on the highway. This time, I could not push the car past 2500 RPM, rendering the car unable to exceed 55mph on the highway. I was able to drive the car to a Honda dealership. They diagnosed P0087 and P0088 codes, and followed the TSB recommendation to replace the high pressure fuel pump. After paying the hefty replacement fee and getting the new part, the car works as expected. Q1: High pressure fuel pump failed, Honda dealership did repair so they would have the old part if not already disposed. Q2: In first instance, car became unstable at high speeds. In second instance, had to drive two hours back to dealership near me on a highway going 20mph under speed limit. Also had to pull over on a narrow shoulder. Q3: Technicians reproduced problem when holding vehicle at 3000rpm. Found code P0087 and S/B 14-039 for that code, which recommended replacing the high pressure fuel pump. Q4: Component inspected by Honda dealership. Q5: Specific warning lamps and codes listed above.

My vehicle dash has been displaying the TPMS light (blinking then solid), Power Steering, Traction control light for the past year to two. I have checked my tire pressure they are to specifications the sensors are fine, my traction control does not respond to the button in the car to enable or disable the traction control. I thankfully have not yet lost power steering but the light is on. I had researched the problem and have found several and I mean several honda accord owners all with the same problem. Only yesterday did my ABS light on my dash turned on and has consistently stayed on (on occasion would turn off like the others but then reappear). Based on internet searches and forums all things point to a faulty ABS module, a module countless honda accord owners have indicated Honda is aware of such fault and expect honda owners to pay an exorbitant amount of money to repair it when its a model wide issue. The danger this poses is the uncertainty of the reliability of these features that are meant to keep motorists safe. To make matters worse I am concerned about the safety of my family with a toddler and infant when riding my vehicle. This is not something that broke down due to negligence on the vehicle owners part. This is a manufacturer issue that affects every single honda accord from 2013 through 2022. To make matters worse when people tried to get the ABS module fixed its unavailable. Honda needs to repair all these modules and a recall needs to be issued. This is unacceptable. I will be very hesitant to buy another Honda again.

Hoping to take care of the starter grinding on startup for my 2013 Honda Accord V6… It’s a known issue with the 2013-2017 Accord V6 redesigned starter (starter part number 31200-5G0-A02). Honda's fix (TSB 16-002) is yet another redesigned starter (redesign of the redesigned starter part number 31200-5G0-A04 ), plus a one time only one hole rotation of the flywheel. In the TSB 16-002 it states: If replacing the starter with the redesigned starter and rotating the flywheel doesn't work, then the next course of action is to replace the torque converter (which is not cheap and who knows if it’s a good fix…REALLY). I had the starter and engine battery replaced before on this car at a Honda dealership to correct the problem. Needless to say, it did not correct the screeching noises upon pushing the start engine button. The safety of the driver and the occupants will be in peril when being stuck in hazardous weather (storms, heat alert indexes, snow, freezing weather) without the ability to start the car. This is a design flaw that Honda clearly knows about with no solution in sight. I already had this repaired before at a Honda dealership, but it never corrected the problem. Honda needs to initiate a recall since it knows it’s a massive problem by issuing a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 16-002).

The check engine, the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), the electric power steering, TPMS, Forward Collision Avoidance, and the Lane Departure warning lights illuminated. Ever since I bought the vehicle, there are times when I cold start that the vehicle moves slowly. And pressing the gas moves the car at 1/10th the power that I am used to. Not every time, but particularly pronounced when cold. Once it warms up and this low power goes away.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that on several occasions while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The contact stated that the engine intermittently turned over and then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic however, the cause of the failure could not be determined due to no warning lights being illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

Factory specification states engine capacity for engine oil is 4.4 quarts, but after replacing the oil 3 times in the 10 months I have owned the car, I have noticed the actual capacity is 5.2 quarts. At 4.4 quarts, dip stick indicates oil at below lowest mark, at 5.2 quarts, it shows right at upper mark. I have google search this fact and there are many other owners or mechanics that have stated this fact. This has caused VTC actuator to be deficient of oil lubricant and rattle loudly and eventually fail. Over all oil deficiency will cause engine to fail prematurely.

Engine burns oil excessively. Following the maintenance minder oil change schedule, the oil was under the minimum. Car was at around 83000 miles. Since within 5 year dealership asked to do a oil consumption test but car would be out of 5 yr window by end of it. Eventually this issue led to catalytic converter needed to be changed at 98500 miles due to the buildup from burning oil

At about 40k miles since I purchased my 2013 Accord Sport 6 speed MT new, there has been premature starter failure causing me to replace the starter. In addition, the 2.4 L Earth Dreams engine consumes a quart of oil every approximately 1000 miles. I have had honda's in the past and never had to do this on a fairly new car. I also changed my PCV valve thinking it may be faulty. After doing so, I have the same issue. I even complained to Honda several times and expressed my frustration. At about 50% oil life remaining, and if the engine oil is not topped off, the dip stick to check the engine oil will be bone dry. I hope NHTSA will look into the Earth Dreams engine. It is time to force a Honda recall on all Earth Dreams engine before premature engine failure starts happening and Honda blaming customers for not properly maintaining the engine when it is a faulty engine to begin with.

The 9th generation Honda Accord seemed to have a common issue with premature starter failure and excessive engine oil consumption. My starter failed at around 40k miles. I then noticed after a fresh oil change, and with 70% oil life remaining, my engine is bone dry with no oil and the only reason I checked was because of a low pressure warning light. I have complained to honda that this is not normal. There are no leaks whatsoever. To prevent engine damage, I have to fill in a quart of engine oil for every 1500 miles of driving. I have owned several honda's and never once had any issues like this. I even changed the pcv valve and that did not fix the issue. Honda knows about the excessive oil consumption and refused to issue a recall to replace the piston rings. Almost every 9th generation Honda Accord owner faces premature starter failure and excessive oil consumption. This is not normal and Honda is avoiding this issue and give customers like me the run around to perform compression test etc and adding engine oil for every 1000 miles of driving is normal. I have never heard of such thing unless you drive a high performance vehicle. I hope NHTSA will investigate and force Honda to issue a recall and compensate owners who had to pay out of pocket for premature starter failures.

I OWN A 2013 HONDA ACCORD SPORT, 4 CYLINDER EARTH DREAMS ENGINE WITH 65000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS A VERY KNOWN ISSUE WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND OIL BURNING IN THESE EARTH DREAMS ENGINES. THE PISTON RINGS ARE FAULTY CAUSING OIL TO BE BURNED IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. HONDA HAD A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE IN 2008-2012 AND THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING IN MY VEHICLE. PROLONGED OIL CONSUMPTION CAN SEIZE THE ENGINE DUE TO NO OIL BEING LEFT IN THE ENGINE TO LUBRICATE IT. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP AS THIS OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN RECTIFIED. THIS ENGINE IS BURNING 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN 2500 MILES..THERE IS BLACK SOOT AND THE END OF THE TAILPIPE, WHICH IS A CLEAR INDICATION OF OIL BURNING. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD FROM THE DEALERSHIP I NOTICED SOMETIMES THE PUSH START WOULD STALL OR SOUND LIKE IT WAS FAILING. ALSO MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO MY KEY FOB. ALL OTHER DOORS RESPOND TO IT EXCEPT THE DRIVER DOOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STILL THE ISSUE HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED. I HAVE BEEN TAKING THE ACTUAL KEY OUT OF THE FOB AND INSERTING IT INTO THE CAR DOOR TO UNLOCK MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR. NOW THE AC HAS BEGAN TO STOP AND START. IT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE THE FAN MOTOR IS KICKING ON AND OFF. AND MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT IS NOT SLIDING BACK PROPERLY. IT WILL BEGAN TO GLIDE THEN STOP. THEN I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING AND IT'LL GLIDE BACK A LITTLE AND THEN STOP AGAIN. OVERALL I THINK THERE IS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE OR SOMETHING IS HAPPENING WITH IT. THE 2008-2012 ACCORD ENGINES HAD A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND I BELIEVE ANOTHER ONE IS WARRANTED FOR THE 9TH GEN 2014-2017 ACCORD 2.4L MODELS..I AM LOSING ABOUT 1QT OF OIL PER 1000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM STARTED TWO YEARS AGO AND GOT WORSE IN MAY. IT ALL STARTED WHE WE HAD A ROUGH TIME STARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 6 TIME UNTIL THE CAR WOULD FINALLY START. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE BATTERY SO WE CHANGED THE BATTER UP TO FOUR TIME AND IT STILL KEPT HAVING STARTING ISSUES SO THEN WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE STARTER SO WE HAD IT REPLACED AND WE ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES AND NOW THE CAR STALLED ON ME WHILE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND IT TOOK NUMEROUS TRIES AND IT FINALLY TURNED OVER. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD THE CAR FOR 13 WEEKS AND TOLD US THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE STARTING ISSUES AND THEN TOLD US A FEW DAYS LATER THEY DIDNT PUSH THE BUTTON IN LONG ENOUGH SO IT WAS THERE MECHANICS FAULT AND THEN TELL US THEY FIND A DRAW ON THE BATTERY AND A FEW DAYS LATER TELLS US THERE MECHANIC USED A FAULTY METER AND THEN THEY BLAME IT ON OUR INTERNET, SMART TVS, GARAGE DOOR OPENER AND WIFI. I AM SO TIRED OF ALL THE EXCUSES AND NEED A CAR THAT'S NOT GOING TO LEAVE ME STRANDED AND THAT I CAN FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR OUT OF TOWN RIGHT NOW THAT'S NOT THE CASE. I DO HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS THAT HAVE HAD TO COME TO MY RESCUE TO JUMP START MY CAR OR WE HAVE HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WE HAVE LOTS OF VIDEO AND DOCUMENTATION OF WHAT THE CAR IS DOING AND ALSO FRIENDS THAT WILL SPEAK ON OUR BEHALF. ALONG SEVERAL OTHERS, I BEGAN HAVING THE INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS ON MY 2013 2.4 L ACCORD AT AROUND 60,000 MILES. THIS TYPE OF STARTER USES A SOLENOID TO MOVE THE STARTER MOTOR'S PINION GEAR FORWARD TO MESH WITH THE FLYWHEEL'S RING GEAR WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY PULLING THE PLUNGER AND ITS COPPER CONTACT DISC ONTO THE BATTERY CONTACT AND THE STARTER MOTOR CONTACT TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT FROM THE BATTERY TO THE STARTER MOTOR. WHEN FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, TURNING THE IGNITION KEY OR STARTER BUTTON SHOULD MESH STARTER'S PINION GEAR WITH THE FLYWHEEL AND TURN THE STARTER MOTOR TO CRANK THE ENGINE. THE PROBLEM WITH THESE STARTERS IS THAT THE BATTERY-SIDE CONTACT AND THE BATTERY-SIDE OF THE PLUNGER CONTACT ERODE EXCESSIVELY DUE TO ARCING AND CONSEQUENT PITTING. THIS INTERMITTENTLY PREVENTS THE PLUNGER'S CONTACT FROM CONTACTING THE BATTERY-SIDE CONTACT TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND STARTER MOTOR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE PINION GEAR MESHES WITH THE FLYWHEEL BUT THE STARTER MOTOR DOESN'T TURN. NOTE THAT THE PINION GEAR ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING THE FLYWHEEL IS THE CLICKING SOUND HEARD FROM UNDER THE CAR DURING A FAILED START. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY REPLACING THE CONTACTS WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN HONDA BRUSH HOLDER (HONDA PART NUMBER: 31210-5A2-A01) WHICH COST ME $45 AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER. I BELIEVE 2013 THROUGH 2017 2.4 L ACCORDS USE THIS PART WHICH SUGGESTS THAT THEY WILL, OR ARE, EXPERIENCING THE INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEM. ONE WOULD THINK HONDA WOULD HAVE HAD A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED NEW A 2013 HONDA ACCORD 4 CYL IN AUGUST 2013 WHICH HAD THE BATTERY SENSOR REPLACED AT 26,010 MILES IN OCTOBER 2017. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I STARTED EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEM. WHEN I TURN THE KEY, THE DASH LIGHTS TURN ON AS NORMAL, BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER OR EVEN CRANK. WHILE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND IT CAN TAKE BETWEEN 2-6 TRIES BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTS AT HOME OR ANYWHERE I TRAVELED. AAA JUMPED ME ONCE TOO. DEALER SAID TO SWITCH KEYS AS IT MAY BE THE IMMOBILIZER SENSOR IN MY KEY. THEN DECEMBER 2018 AT 32,935 MILES, DEALER RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE BATTERY WHICH I DID, BUT ISSUE CONTINUED, JULY 2019 AT 36,555 MILES, DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS STATING THE STARTER WAS BAD BUT THERE WASN'T A RECALL AND IT'S MORE THAN 36 MONTHS SO OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER DOES NOT APPLY THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTICS AGAINST THE REPAIR. TOTAL COST FOR DIAGNOSTICS, STARTER AND TAX WAS $889.47. PLUS THE DEALER SOLD ME A REFURBISHED STARTER WITH A 3 YR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY STATING A NEW STARTER ONLY CARRIES A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. ALMOST $1K IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR ONE REPAIR FOR A SENIOR CITIZEN FOR A CAR WITH 36K MILES. APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE SO HONDA MOTOR CO SHOULD RECALL THE STARTER AND PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT TO THOSE WHO HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED TO AVOID BEING STRANDED.

VARIOUS FORUMS AND MY OWN VEHICLE HAS THE ISSUE. I HAVE VIDEOS AND SOUND TO PROVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT HONDA IS REPAIRING ON ACCORD'S FROM 2008-2012 ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH A LOUD START-UP AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE WEATHER IS REALLY COLD, THE ENGINE WON'T START. MY PROBLEM IS THAT STARTER ISSUE IS VERY COMMON, AND THERE IS NO LONG TERM FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. SO THE ISSUE IS BACK, I END UP GETTING STRANDED IN PLACES FOR HOURS AT A TIME, AND SOMETIMES EVEN END UP BEING LATE TO WORK, DUE TO MY STARTER SPINNING AWAY UNTIL I CAN GET IT TO CATCH EVENTUALLY. I TOOK IT TO GET APPRAISED THE OTHER DAY, AND IT WOULDN'T START OFCOURSE, THE DEALER REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE OFCOURSE, BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO SELL A LEMON. AT THIS POINT, I AM EITHER LOOKING FOR HONDA TO BUY MY CAR OFF ME, REPLACE IT, OR COME UP WITH A PERMANENT FIX. IN EARLY 2019, AFTER MY HONDA DEALER REPLACED MY VEHICLE'S WATER PUMP, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START FEATURE ON MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD. SOMETIMES, MY CAR STARTS RIGHT AWAY. BUT MORE OFTEN, IT TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE MY CAR WILL START USING THE PUSH BUTTON START FEATURE. WHEN REPEATED ATTEMPTS ARE NECESSARY TO START MY CAR, I HEAR A 'CLICKING' TYPE NOISE WHEN I PRESS THE START BUTTON, BUT MY CAR DOES NOT TURN OVER. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS PUSHING THE 'START' BUTTON, MY CAR EVENTUALLY STARTS (SOMETIMES AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND A FEW ATTEMPTS, SOMETIMES AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AND TWO OR THREE MINUTES). THE PROBLEM OCCURS RANDOMLY, WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND WARM. I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM UNTIL HONDA REPLACED THE WATER PUMP ON MY CAR EARLIER THIS YEAR. BASED ON OTHER WEB POSTS, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START FEATURE IN 2013 HONDA ACCORDS. ONCE MY CAR STARTS, IT RUNS WELL. AT THIS PRESENT TIME, I HAVE NO OTHER MECHANICAL PROBLEMS OTHER THAN THE PUSH BUTTON START FEATURE. I HAVE BEEN MONITERING MY OIL LEVEL CONSUMPTION AND FOR ABOUT 3 DIFFERENT OIL CHANGES (6200-6400 MILE INTERVALS). MY DASH SHOWS 40% OIL LIFE REMAINING BUT WHEN I CHECK THE DIPSTICK THERE IS NO OIL ON IT AT ALL. IT'S BONE DRY. TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS OR LEAKS EITHER. THE CAR IS BURNING THROUGH 5 QUARTS OF OIL. WHEN ASKED HONDA THEY SAY THIS IS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN ANY OTHER CAR OR MY OF OTHER HONDA. AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DOESN'T EVEN COME ON UNTIL I APPLY THE BRAKES HARDER THAN USUAL.

TWO DAYS LATER AFTER WORK MY CAR DID NOT START (STATIONARY). CHECK ENGINE WAS ON, CHECK STEERING LIGHT ON & TRACTION LIGHT ON PLUS LOW PRESSURE ON. I IMMEDIATELY FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR BUT HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO HONDA TO SEE WHAT THEY HAD DONE TO IT. HONDA SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT AND THAT NOW THE PROBLEM HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY BATTERY. INSTEAD, IT WAS MY ENGINE WIRE HARNESS. THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED FOR A PRICE OF ~$2,800 BUT THEY COULD LOWER IT TO $669.15 + TAX I JUST WANT TO EXPRESS HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM IN HONDA. I BOUGHT A HONDA BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A RELIABLE CAR. BACK IN MARCH 2016 THEY TOLD ME BY BATTERY FAILED THE BATTERY TEST AND DECIDED TO CHARGE IT. NOVEMBER 2016, THEY MADE ME BUY A NEW BATTERY, AT THAT TIME MY CAR WAS STILL BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 22,000 MILES ON IT. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS COINCIDENCE. I GOT A HONDA FOR RELIABILITY REASONS. AT THE LAST OIL CHANGE THERE WAS ONLY 1 QUART OF OIL LEFT IN THE ENGINE. CONSUMPTION TESTING DID NOT SHOW 1 QUART/1,000 MILES SO NOTHING WAS DONE BY HONDA. BETWEEN 2,000 AND 3,000 MILES OF THE CONSUMPTION TEST OIL WAS CONSUMED AT A RATE OF 1 QUART OR MORE PER 1,000 MILES. HONDA STILL DID NOTHING. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND GOT NO WHERE. MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS VERY LOW SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. PRIOR TO THIS MY BROTHER DROVE MY CAR AND SAID IT WAS NOT GOING INTO GEARS SMOOTHLY. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID CAN MAKE THE CAR RUN NOT TOO SMOOTH. HE DID MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A NOTICE FOR A FOUL SPARK PLUG AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND IF THE PROBLEM DOESN'T FIX ITSELF THEN TO BRING IT BACK IN SO THEY CAN LOOK FURTHER INTO THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS IF I HAVE A RECALL AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS THAT COULD BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY SPARK PLUG SHOULDN'T THEY AUTOMATICALLY BRING MY CAR IN AND REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS? TWO WEEKS AGO MY ACCORD BEGAN HAVING ISSUES STARTING. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS THE ENGINE WOULD EVENTUALLY START AND I WOULD BE ON MY WAY. UNTIL LAST FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2016. I DROVE TO A FRIENDS HOUSE, PARKED, CAME BACK OUT TO START MY CAR AND WOULD HEAR A "POPPING" SOUND LIKE THE ENGINE WAS TRYING TO START UP, BUT TO NO AVAIL. FRIEND'S NEIGHBOR IS A RETIRED AUTO MECHANIC. HE LOOKED AT THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT THE BATTERY, AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE STARTER ITSELF. ALMOST MAGICALLY, THE CAR RANDOMLY DECIDED TO START AGAIN. DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO AN ADDITIONAL AUTO MECHANIC, HE TESTED THE VEHICLE (BATTERY, CABLE CONNECTIONS, WIRES THAT ATTACH TO STARTER) AND ALSO FOUND THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE STARTER. MY ACCORD HAS 66,000 MILES ON IT. THE TOTAL COST TO FIX THIS ISSUE WILL BE $680, KIND OF RIDICULOUS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FROM WHAT I'VE READ. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

PUSH START FAILURE MY CAR HAD 50000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE PUSH START BUTTON. IT DID IT ONCE A WEEK SOMETIMES AND EVENTUALLY HAPPENED EVERY TIME I TRIED TO START THE CAR. TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED, OPERATOR TRIED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE AGAIN WITH BATTERY PACK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR SUGGESTED I TELL THE DEALERSHIP HE SUSPECTED THE STARTER OR THE WIRING TO THE STARTER WAS THE PROBLEM. A/C PRIOR TO THIS EVENT HAD BEEN WORKING NOW HAD NO POWER. DROVE THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY TO DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS LEFT AND DIAGNOSED WITH FAULTY STARTER. FUSE WAS BLOWN TO A/C. (WE DID NOTE THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN HARDER TO START RECENTLY - HAVING TO TURN THE KEY MORE THAN 1 TIME TO GET THE CAR TO START. STILL THIS WAS HARDLY NOTICEABLE OR APPARENT THAT A PROBLEM WAS DEVELOPING.) STARTER AND FUSE TO BE REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP WILL BE PICKING UP CAR HOPEFULLY TODAY. THIS WAS NOT MERELY INCONVENIENT AND UNPLEASANT BUT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS EMERGENCY FOR PERSONS WITH HEALTH/MEDICAL ISSUES - IT WAS VERY HOT OUT WITH POOR AIR QUALITY AND PASSENGER AND MYSELF WERE STRANDED AND WITHOUT A/C FOR 4 HOURS. CONCERNED ABOUT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AND WHY THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE IS MAINTAINED, 3YRS OLD WITH APPROX. 35,000. I AM SEEING NUMEROUS SIMILAR/IDENTICAL REPORTS FROM OTHER OWNERS.

COULD IT BE THAT THE O-RING AND FUEL TANK ARE ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN THAT ON THE ORIGINAL 2013 HONDA ACCORDS (BUILT WITH FAULTY FUEL TANKS) CAUSING THE O RING TO WEAR OUT? HOW CAN THIS BE CHECKED. ALSO JUST WANT TO NOTE THAT MY WIFE HAD A 2009 PILOT THAT KEPT NEEDED SPARK PLUGS AND HAD EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION--SHE GOT RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE SHE KEPT ARGUING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WITH THE HONDA DEALERSHIP--HONDA ADMITTED TO THE PROBLEM AND EXTENDED THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY RIGHT AFTER SHE GOT RID OF THE CAR.

THE SERVICE REP DROVE IT HOME. THE MECHANIC DROVE IT. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE DAY I GOT THE CAR BACK IT AGAIN STALLED OR LUGGED. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLS WHEN TURNING LEFT BUT IT HAS FAILED IN REVERSE AND WHEN LEAVING A STOP LITE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD CALL HONDA ENGINEERING TO SEE WHAT PROBLEMS THEY MIGHT BE AWARE OF. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO AND I'VE NOT HEARD BACK. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN IF YOU ARE OVER 20 MPH. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND IT WAS BELOW THE MARK ON THE DIPSTICK TO INDICATING TO ADD OIL. I CALLED HONDA CORPORATE WHO SUGGESTED I TAKE IN TO THE DEALER. APPOINTMENT IS IN TWO DYES FROM NOW. I SURELY HOPE I AM NOT TOLD THIS IS NORMAL AS NO ENGINE THIS NEW SHOULD BURN OIL AT THIS RATE; FORTUNATELY I AM STILL UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER AND POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.

CAR HAD INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS. TURNED THE KEY MULTIPLE TIMES AND JUST HEARD CLICKS. ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK. WOULD NOT START WHILE RUNNING ERRANDS AND HAD TO PUSH IT TO A NEARBY GARAGE. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 TO 65 MPH, GRINDING NOISE INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AT CRUISING SPEED (65 MPH) RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL TO MAINTAIN MY SPEED. THEN TAP THE GAS PEDAL LIGHTLY TO GET BACK ON SPEED, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I START NOTICING THIS AROUND 8000 MILES ON THE CAR. CAR NOW HAS 13,200 MILES. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER , BUT HONDA IS SAYING IT IS NORMAL. GRINDING NOISE INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THAT SPEED IS NOT NORMAL. I PURCHASED A NEW 2013 HONDA ACCORD SPORT (CVT) IN 2013. AS OF OCTOBER 6, 2015, THE CAR IS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 37,447 MILES. THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS. THE ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK AND ALL I HEAR ARE CLICKS. IT TAKES 3-5 IGNITION ATTEMPTS FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. SOMETIMES IT WILL START ON THE FIRST TRY. FURTHERMORE, SOMETIMES I LEAVE IT ALONE FOR ABOUT A SECOND OR TWO WITH THE KEY OUT AND THEN IT WILL START. ONCE IT STARTS, EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE FINE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TEST THE BATTERY AND THE RESULT WAS A GOOD BATTERY. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE AND WILL NOT GIVE A GOODWILL WARRANTY TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THIS STARTUP PROBLEM. THEY SAID I WOUD HAVE TO PAY IF NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A NEW CAR AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.

FOLLOWED BY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING, AND TIRE PRESSURE WARNING. TOOK KEY OUT OF IGNITION, WAITED A MINUTE, BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. THIS TIME, TURNED OFF RADIO AND AC. CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF STILL. TRIED 2-3 MORE TIMES, AND CAR FINALLY STARTED, ALL WITH A TOTAL OF 4 WARNING LIGHTS. CHECK ENGINE, TIRE PRESSURE, POWER STEERING, AND ANOTHER ONE I CANNOT RECALL. TOOK IT THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY, AND WAITED 2-4HRS FOR THEM TO TELL ME, THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING. THEY ADVISED IT WOULDN'T BE SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME, SO THEY GAVE ME A FREE RENTAL UNTIL IT CAN BE FIXED.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER YESTERDAY AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT TO THE STARTER MOTOR AND REPLACED IT AND SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I THEN TALKED TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE SORRY FOR THE MISINFORMATION I RECEIVED AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE NEW CAR WARRANTY IS COVERED ONLY BY THE 3 YR/36K WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND THE STARTER MOTOR SHOULDN'T GO BAD.

I RECENTLY HAD A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD REGARDING UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. LUCKILY THE TRUCK AND MULCH STOPPED THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT INTO PARK AND TURN IT OFF. THERE IS CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND THE PROPERTY OF THE NURSERY. AS MY VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING ONTO A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP, I LOST ALMOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE, AND IT BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND MY TIRE WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. THIS SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED ON NOVEMBER 16, 2012, NOVEMBER 27, 2012, DEC 4, 2012 AND DEC 11, 2012. I VISITED FAIRFAX HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT HOPING FOR A QUICK REMEDY. UNFORTUNATELY THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE SERVICE MANAGER AND I DROVE THE CAR TOGETHER DURING MY 11 DEC 2012 VISIT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THIS WAS CHARACTERISTIC OF THE 2012 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN. HE AND I THEN DROVE A 2012 HONDA ACCORD AND I FOUND THIS TO BE OBVIOUS WHEN DRIVING THE 2012 HONDA. I AM VERY SURPRISED THIS DANGEROUS TECHNICAL PROBLEM/ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN HIGHLIGHTED AND REMEDIED FOR THE 2013 VEHICLE. I AM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CONCERNED THAT DUE TO THE HESITATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE I MAY BE HIT FROM THE REAR OR HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THIS RECURRING MALFUNCTION. MY WIFE FEELS THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND REFUSES TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED THIS TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH HONDA OF AMERICA AND THEY HAVE OPENED A CASE FILE [XXX].
