2014 Honda Accord Hybrid purchased new, completed all routine and recommended maintenance over its life. - The passenger side drive shaft failed on May 5, 2025, pulling into our driveway, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. - The driver’s side drive shaft failed on December 4, 2025, leaving a shopping center parking lot, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. Attached are photos of both driveshafts, which clearly show the similarities in the failures. I have the parts for the driver’s side in my possession and am happy to furnish them for analysis. These failures are catastrophic in that the vehicle was rendered undrivable with a loss of control without warning. This vehicle is used daily for highway commuting and had this failure occurred on the highway at 65 mph, I believe it would have caused a serious crash of this vehicle and likely caused a multi-vehicle accident given the sudden nature of the failure and the lack of control the vehicle experienced upon failure. Honda Service Bulletin 20-125 appears to address a very similar concern for Honda Accord “CVT models.” The photos and inspection area listed in that bulletin seem to indicate that my car experienced a similar failure (Bulletin attached); however, I was told by the dealership that my VIN was not subject to the recall. I believe the vehicle is subject to a similar defect as described in the Service Bulletin for other Honda Accord models and believe it should be investigated and included in the recall. These failures have cost $2,279.47 in repair fees, approximately $400 in emergency towing and do not seem to be in line with routine maintenance or "wear and tear".
[XXX] son was driving vehicle outside of city limits. Had come to a 4 way stop sign and proceeded to make a left hand turn towards town. After turning and accelerating vehicle made a loud noise and immediately began coasting to a stop. Son pulled over thinking something with the transmission as the motor is running fine. The car is "free rolling" while in park and will only make a "clunking/knocking" noise when put into gear. Used insurance to have vehicle towed the 14.8 miles home after being stuck on the highway for an hour. Today after internet searching found #20V769 regarding issue with broken driveshaft due to poor coatings from factory. Lack of coatings cause a premature failure due to rust build up, which is accelerated by road salt use. This bulletin covers several states that are in the "ice belt" of the US where they use road salt to treat the roads. Neighboring States of Iowa and Minnesota are both on the list, but not South Dakota. This vehicle has been registered in SD it's entire life(which explains why no previous owners received the bulletin). We live 15 min from both Minnesota and Iowa and having lived here for 42 years I know that we use salt to treat our roads. Please update the bulletin to include South Dakota as this needs to be covered under a safety recall due to identical situations causing premature failure. **Reached out to Honda Motorcars and received a case number as well. The vehicle was able to reverse 100 ft. and to push the vehicle 20ft. into a nearby parking lot. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger's side CV axle was fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side CV axle was fractured and could not be separated from the knuckle. The dealer applied excessive heat to separate the CV axle from the knuckle to replace the drive shaft; however, the part could not be separated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train), which the dealer related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train) was previously sent; however, the contact had not received the recall notification. The contact was concerned that the absence of a recall almost caused the contact and his family members to be involved in a crash and to be injured. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train); however, since the vehicle was not diagnosed, it was not known if the failure was related to the recall. After a cold start, when trying to accelerate to merge onto street the engine dies. Also sometimes engine or transmission jerks when speeding up or slowing down after letting off of gas or brakes.
In 2020, there was a recall (#20V769) on the driveshaft of the 2014 Honda Accord. The car was in the Midwest for 4 years, so I was concerned that the issue with corrosion could directly impact the vehicle due to weather conditions. I went to have the recall serviced, but still noticed the car to be sluggish upon shifting in to gear. I reported the concern to the Honda dealer to see if it was repaired correctly and to understand why it took time for the car to "switch" in to gear. After review, they said nothing was wrong with the car. I continued to have these issues, however every time I went to the Honda service team to get an oil repair the diagnosis report did not show any issues with the transmission. There was a recommendation to get the transmission oil changed, which I did in March 2023. The car will still sluggish after this service. On July 25, 2024 the cars transmission/ drive power disengaged in the middle of a busy road. The car came to a complete stop while moving. The gear shaft failed to engage with the transmission. Prior to this no transmission warning had ever triggered, nor reported by Honda's diagnosis reports. I again stated my concern that the driver shaft may not have been repaired correctly to Honda. They instead faulted that the wrong transmission fluid caused " Transmission is burnt up causing issue of not moving. Tech found transmission has wrong fluid installed which caused internal wear and failure of transmission parts." This statement is false. The car stopped on July 25. In an effort to problem solve the transmission fluid was drained and the incorrect fluid was used, but that was after the car was not shifting, so if the transmission was in fact burnt from the wrong fluid it was a result of the service in 2023. However, that is not the cause of the issue. I believe that failure to repair the drive shaft correct resulted in effects on the transmission that were either intentionally omitted or were not discovered.
Mechanic noted that drive shafts were corroded and unsafe and they were replaced. This appears to be the same issue as NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:20V-769, however, my VIN was not covered under this. I think this issue affects more than the accords with CVT transmissions in recall 20V-769. I bought this car and live in MA.
I got the transmission problem in my car. When I was in traffic, and try to accelerate, the car started jerking multiple times. This car suddenly jumps/jerks when I try to accelerate in the slope.

I was driving on a highway at around 75 mph when I suddenly lost power. I could hear the engine running but there was no power in the wheel. I could feel that the vehicle was decelerating so in panic I activated the emergency light and immediately stopped the vehicle on the side of the road. Even when the vehicle was idle for some time, I could hear the engine running but there was no power on the wheel, so I think the issue is with transmission. The vehicle is not movable but if you guys are willing to visit me, it is available for inspection. This issue put my safety as well as the safety of others at risk as it suddenly lost power in an expressway. If I hadn't realized the deceleration sooner, I would have been in a bad rear-end accident with other vehicle. I will be taking my vehicle to a Honda dealership soon for diagnosis. No, the vehicle has not been inspected by any of the mentioned parties. As far as I know, there were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
Had a call from Honda to check drive axle for corrosion. I took the car in. They said they were ok. I had some work done yesterday and my mechanic is very concerned about my axles saying they were badly rusted out. Looked almost completely corroded and I should do something about them. I'm not sure what to do as I have been to Honda for other reasons just recently and they did not say anything about that in their usual reports they give when you show up there so I figured to talk about it here to see if I could get some help. I only have pictures of them and they look very bad.
The EPS on my 2014 Honda Accord EX-L did not perform its primary functions. Such as steering. The steering wheel became very difficult to move. The wheel was extremely stiff and vibrated at the slightest attempt to turn in either direction. I am grateful this did not happen while I was driving on the road.

I have a issues that when I’m at a stop light and then I start pressing the pedal to accelerate, the vehicle don’t moved or don’t respond on time. I have to press the pedal several times for the transmission to respond
Car does not start on the first attempt. Starter does not crank. It makes a click sound. Need to try upto 5 times until it cranks and starts the engine. Took the car to a mechanic and diagnosed a bad starter that needs replacement. I'm disappointed that the starter failed at only 58000 miles.
My son was driving and the car just shut down. When he tried to start the car it would not move no matter what gear you put it in ex. Drive,reverse. No warning lights came on. Had it towed to a Honda dealership and the said it was the transmission. I have not had any problems prior to this either.
The front axles of my front wheel drive car are rusting. The NHTSA has issued a safety recall for this problem (Recall Number 20V-769, MFR Campaign ID: W9F, Campaign Description: 2013-2015 Accord Driveshaft Inspection Safety Recall, Recall Date: 12/18/2020). Honda issued a service bulletin (#20-125), however my VIN number is not included in this recall. This is a dangerous situation if one of the axles were to fail at a high speed (I drive about 100 highway miles per day, M-F). I filed a request with Honda to include pay for the repair to my car, but today (2/2/22) they declined my request because the VIN number is not included in the safety recall. I have pictures of the rust on each axle and have a certified Honda mechanic's report (from the Honda dealership where I bought the car) that recommends both front axles be replaced due to this problem
Driving down road and engine started to shake going from 0 to driving speed. while driving heard/felt a big shake and car was no longer able to drive car forward. when it came to a stop. i tried all gears but non would respond. i was luck enough to be on a 2 lane street instead of a highway.
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA FOR THE DRIVESHAFTS PREMATURE FAILURE ON THE 2014 ACCORD MODELS. THIS FAILURE IS RELATED TO PREMATURE CORROSION OF THE DRIVESHAFTS. THEN WE RECEIVED NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE RECALL WAS CANCELED BECAUSE " WE DON'T LIVE IN A SNOW AREA AND THAT NO CORROSION SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED. THIS IS NEBRASKA! PLENTY OF SALT AND SNOW! AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE IN JULY, THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE AXLES AND "STRONGLY ADVISED A REPLACEMENT" EVEN BEFORE WE HAD RECEIVED ANY RECALLS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I REACHED OUT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR DRIVESHAFTS AND PROVIDE ME WITH THE RECALL WEBSITE. SO I SUBMITTED THE REQUIRED INFORMATION TO THE HONDA RECALL WEB SITE.THIS INCLUDED THE SERVICE INFORMATION, APPROPRIATE INVOICES AND THE ORIGINAL RECALL SHEET. 6 WEEKS LATER, HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLED ME AND STATED THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE DRIVE SHAFTS. THEY BASED THEIR DECISION ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT NEBRASKA WAS NOT A SNOW STATE NOR WOULD CORROSION BE A FACTOR.GIVEN THE NUMBER O F HONDA'S ON THE STREETS IN NEBRASKA, I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH DEFECTIVE DRIVESHAFTS. I HAVE THE BILL AND THE FIRST HAND LOOK AT THE DEFECTS TO PROVE DIFFERENTLY. I BELIEVE HONDA SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE NEBRASKA AND THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ABS, VBS AND STEERING LIGHTS ALL COME ON AT SAME TIME. BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER SHIP AS A SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 103,000 MILES. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND RESET SENSORS, SAID IT COULD BE A BAD MODULE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM WOULD COST $1800 TO REPLACE. DROVE CAR FOR 2 DAYS ALL LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. QUESTIONED DEALER ABOUT MODULE AND HOW COMMON REPLACEMENT WAS. THEY SAID NEVER REPLACE THEM. RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS VERY COMMON AND CAUSES MANY ISSUES, DEALER/ MANUFACTURER KNOWS OF ISSUE AND REFUSES TO CORRECT ISSUE IN CARS WITH MUCH LESS MILES. COMPLAINED TO DEALER WITH NO RESPONSE.

ALL 2013-2016 HONDA ACCORDS WITH V6 ENGINES AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAVE A DESIGN FAILURE THAT CAUSES THE STARTER AND TORQUE CONVERTER TO GRIND INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL THEY FAIL. THIS DESIGN FAILURE CREATES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND CAN LEAD TO THE OWNER STRANDED. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM IS OVER $4,000 . MY FAILURE STARTED WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH LESS THEN 50,000 MILES. I'VE HAD TO PAY FOR 3 NEW STARTERS AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. AN ONLINE SEARCH SHOW THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AT A VERY HIGH RATE ON THESE VEHICLES. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WON'T ALIGN AND EVEN AFTER THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS REPLACED THE PROBLEM WILL STILL OCCUR BECAUSE OF THE CLEARANCE FAILURE DUE A MANUFACTURER DESIGN ISSUE.
MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD IS EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, LACK OF ENGINE POWER, ENGINE STALLING ISSUES AND OVERALL UNSAFE DRIVABILITY CONDITIONS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ALBANY HONDA ON 5/4/2020 FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE ISSUE BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS I WAS EXPERIENCING SO THEY RECOMMENDED AN OIL CHANGE AND GASKET VALVE COVER REPLACEMENT AND CHARGED ME $262.08 FOR THE SERVICE. I PAID FOR THE SERVICE AND DROVE MY VEHICLE OFF THE LOT WITH THE SEVERE ISSUES STILL PRESENT. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE STRUGGLED TO GET UP HILLS, BEGAN JERKING, JOLTING VIOLENTLY AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED SERVE DEPARTMENT BACK AT HONDA AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND THAT I WAS BRINGING THE CAR BACK AND FOR THEM TO DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS OF THE VEHICLE AS IT HAD BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AND I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THE NEXT DAY THE TELLS ME THAT THEY 'TEST DROVE' THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND THAT THE MECHANIC NOTICED A 'SLIGHT SURGE' BUT STILL COULD NOT PINPOINT THE ISSUE. THEY THEN RECOMMENDED A HOST OF COMPLETELY UNRELATED EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT WOULD COST ME $600 TO $700; MONEY THAT ABSOLUTELY NO ONE HAS TO SPARE DURING THIS NATIONWIDE PANDEMIC. FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED I ENDED UP TAKING MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER CERTIFIED REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS P0300'AS AN ENGINE MISFIRE. THE SHOP REFUSED TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY SAID IT'S A SERIOUS ISSUE AND THAT HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY PROBLEM IS A TSB BAD PISTON RINGS THAT HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS. *TR

THERE ARE ONLY 85,636 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS MADE IN AMERICA IN JANUARY 2014. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, THERE WEREN'T ANY ISSUES OR ALERTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION.

OF COURSE, WHEN I AM OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AFTER I REACHED 1K MILES FROM MY OIL CHANGE AND THEY SAID I MAY NEED TO REPLACE PISTON RINGS OR GET A NEW ENGINE. I FIND IT SURPRISING FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. HONDA MUST BE LYING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FAILING THE EMISSIONS TEST AS THEIR CARS ARE BURNING WAY TOO MUCH OIL. HONDA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX THIS; IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE OLDER CARS (HENCE THE RECALL FOR 2008-2011 MODELS) AND SEEMS LIKE IT CONTINUES TO BE PROBLEM FOR THE NEWER CARS. KEEP IN MIND, I HAVE GONE TO THE SAME DEALER FOR ALL OF MY SERVICES AND KEPT UP TO DATE WITH MAINTENANCE; AND I WAS NEVER TOLD I HAD LOW OIL IN THESE FIVE YEARS.
THE CAR IS BURNING OIL. I COMPLETED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AS REQUESTED BY THE HONDA DEALER AND THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS HIGH, LEADING THEM TO CONCLUDE THAT THE CAR IS BURNING OIL.

THE INTERNET IS FULL OF POSTINGS FROM OTHER ANGRY HONDA OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION OF UP TO ONE QUART EVERY THOUSAND MILES AND HONDA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL AND REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR CORRECTING HONDAS PROBLEM. DISCUSSION. PZEV MEANS PARTIAL ZERO EMISSIONS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE MY CAR ALSO MEETS THE LOW EMISSIONS VEHICLE (LEV) TAILPIPE-EMISSION STANDARDS. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION UNNECESSARILY INCREASES AIR POLLUTION AS EVIDENCED BY THE COATING OF BLACK SOOT ON THE INSIDES OF MY CARS TAIL PIPE. CONCLUSION. I WAS DRIVING IN MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD. I BEGAN TO FEEL WHAT I WOULD DESCRIBE AS "TREMORS" AS I WAS ACCELERATING THE CAR. I WAS GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH. THE TREMORS WOULD OCCUR FOR A BIT THEN THE FEEL OF THE DRIVE WAS NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED ON AND OFF OVER THE NEXT 2-3 MILES. I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED, MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL, NOT WHILE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. IT JUST WOULDN'T MOVE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. ONCE HONDA EVALUATED THE CAR AFTER CHARGING A $130 "DIAGNOSTIC" FEE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALERSHIP'S DISTRICT(?) SERVICE MANAGER TO "SEE WHAT HONDA WANTS TO DO ABOUT IT". THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE COST OF THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT WOULD BE $4,386.80 AND THAT HONDA WAS AGREEING TO COVER 60% OF THE COST AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING 40% OF THE COSTS, WHICH AMOUNTED TO $1,826.88 (INCLUDING TAXES). WHEN I ASKED WHAT SPECIFICALLY WAS WRONG WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION, I WAS SIMPLY TOLD "HONDA DOESN'T ALLOW US TO OPEN CVT TRANSMISSIONS." THIS SOUNDS VERY SUSPICIOUS TO ME. I NEED MY CAR, SO I DON'T FEEL LIKE I HAVE ANY CHOICE BUT TO PAY THE COSTS. HOWEVER, I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT I KEEP UP WITH THE ROUTINE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE AS SUGGESTED AT ABOUT 50K MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN JULY 2014, SO IT IS ONLY 4 1/2 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 65K MILES ON IT. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE DEEMED DEFECTIVE AND BE COMPLETELY COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. PLEASE ADVISE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ALL THE OTHER ISSUES HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

SEATS: DRIVER SEAT IS NOT WELL DESIGNED AND CAUSING AWKWARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE AND FATIGUE POSITION WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS INSUFFICIENCY OF SUPPORT FOR LUMBAR ARE ( THE CURRENT ONE IS TOO SOFT AND SITTING BACK SO THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO SUPPORT AT ALL). AGAIN TOYOTA CARS SEEM NOT HAVING THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. ALSO, THE DRIVER WINDOW IS NOT TALL ENOUGH THAT EVEN A 5'6" PERSON CAN BANG HIS HEAD TO THE TOP OF THE WINDOW WHEN GETTING UP AND OUT OF THE DRIVE SEAT. IT SHOULD BE 2" TALLER TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR BEHIND ME CAME BARRELING UP ON MY BUMPER NEARLY CRASHING INTO ME. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. HAD MY CHILDREN BEEN IN THE CAR, AND THE DRIVER BEHIND ME NOT BEEN SO ALERT (PRAISE THE LORD), THIS COULD HAVE HAD DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES. AFTER THAT INSTANCE THE TRANSMISSION KEPT SLIPPING AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP AGAIN AND AGAIN, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE, AND THE CAR WOULD JOLT FORWARD AND BACK. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 112,000 MILES ON IT. ALL OUR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PER SCHEDULE AND PERFORMED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS TRANSMISSION TO FAIL THIS EARLY. I CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SEE IF THAT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ISSUE, HOWEVER IT WAS FULL AND CLEAN (THANKS TO REGULAR MAINTENANCE). IN RESEARCHING THIS FURTHER I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MODEL EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. IT TURNS OUT THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OF OVER 1 MILLION VEHICLES ON THIS VERY PROBLEM BACK IN 2004 (NTSA REFERENCE #04V176000, APRIL 15, 2004). THERE HAS ALSO BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COVERING SEVERAL HONDA MODELS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. THIS FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE GIVEN HONDA'S REPUTATION FOR QUALITY AND DEPENDABILITY. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT I HAVE 4 CHILDREN, AND HAD THIS BEEN UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES COULD HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC RESULTS. PLEASE HONDA; DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THIS ISSUE.

TWO DAYS AGO, WHILE DRIVING TO THE VA HOSPITAL IN BATTLE CREEK, I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON ANDERSON RD/STREET AND THE CAR STALLED AND A FEDEX SEMI HAD TO DRIVE ONTO SHOULDER AND ONTO A YARD TO KEEP FROM HITTING US AND IF HE HADN'T, WE MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO FOX MOTORS AND THEY ARE STANDING PAT, REFUSING TO HELP US. I BOUGHT MY 2014 HONDA CIVIC EXL NEW IN FEB 2014, AND EVER SINCE NEW THE TPMS LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN UPDATED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE LATEST SOFTWARE AT THE PURCHASING DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. THE TPMS LIGHT COMES ON AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS, AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND OVER DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROADWAYS. I THEN CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA TO RESISTER A CASE NUMBER WITH THEM. HONDA AMERICA INSTRUCTED ME TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AGAIN BY THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP, OVERNIGHT, SO THEIR TECHNICIANS CAN WORK IN CONCERT WITH THE DEALERSHIPS TECHNICIANS. WHATEVER THEY DID, DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION AS THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK. HONDA AMERICA THEN HAD ME BRING MY VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, AGAIN OVERNIGHT. ONCE AGAIN THE LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN A WEEK. HONDA AMERICA NOW TELLS ME, AFTER 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP AND NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO REMEDY THE MALFUNCTIONING TPMS SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE CAME TO A LARGE INCLINE AND BEGAN ACCELERATING, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION, AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON AND WAS BLINKING. IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE HAD SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR, AND IT COULD NOT GET BACK IN GEAR. AFTER OVER 10 MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. ALTHOUGH I COULD FEEL THAT PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT FEEL THE SAME, AND IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS HESITATING AND STRUGGLING TO SWITCH GEARS UP AND ACCELERATE. ON 8/29/2014, AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE, WHILE AGAIN IN CRUISE CONTROL (ECO BOOST WAS NOT ACTIVE), GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, ACCELERATING UP A LARGE INCLINE, THE VEHICLE AGAIN, ALL OF A SUDDEN, SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION, AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON AND WAS BLINKING. IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE HAD SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR, AND IT COULD NOT GET BACK IN GEAR. APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES LATER, WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL, GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, ACCELERATING UP A LARGE INCLINE, THE VEHICLE AGAIN, ALL OF A SUDDEN, SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON AND WAS BLINKING AND THE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH A MESSAGE STATING ?FCW SYSTEM FAILED.? THE FCW INDICATOR LIGHT WAS LIT ON MY DASHBOARD, AS WELL AS THE LDW LIGHT, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) SYSTEM INDICATOR, AND THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) SYSTEM INDICATOR. IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE HAD SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR AND IT COULD NOT GET BACK IN GEAR OR IT COULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER 3 SERVICE CALLS, HONDA'S RESPONSE IS ONLY "CANNOT REPLICATE, SO THERE IS NO PROBLEM." THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *JS

I DROVE THE BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD WITH MY 9 YEAR OLD SON ON HIGH WAY 93 SOUTH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE. IT WAS FRIDAY NOON TIME, BUSY IN HIGH WAY. I FELT SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND TRIED TO CHANGED TO SLOW LANE. THE ENGINE STOPPED WORKING WITH ERROR CODE INSTEAD OF "D" IN THE PANEL. THERE WAS BIG TRUCK BEHIND ME. I PULLED IT OVER. IT WAS WITHIN 24 HOUR AFTER WE PICKED UP THE CAR. IT WAS SCARY EXPERIENCE! LUCKILY, WE ARE SAFE! EVEN LUCKIER, IT HAPPENED WHEN I DROVE IT, NOT MY 20 YEAR OLD, INEXPERIENCED CHILD DROVE. I HAD JUST LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THEY CLEARED A "FCW SYSTEM FAILED" MESSAGE AND I ENTERED THE INTERSTATE. WHILE TRAVELING IN THE LANE ADJACENT TO THE FAR LEFT AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH, THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKED, THE FCW SYSTEM FAILED MESSAGE RETURNED, ALL EMERGENCY ICONS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH, AND MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION IN TRAFFIC. DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE HAD NO RESPONSE AND WAS SITTING AT IDLE WHILE I DECELERATED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT UNDERWENT 3 DAYS OF SERVICE FOR WHAT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FAILED ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. THE DAY AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. THE CAR, WITHOUT SYMPTOMS OR WARNING, AGAIN VIOLENTLY JERKED, LOST ACCELERATION, AND DISPLAYED THE SAME SYSTEM FAILED MESSAGE. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 8 DAYS AND THE ECU AND MAIN WIRING HARNESS ARE BEING REPLACED. *TR

VERY ANNOYING RUMBLING/VIBRATION THAT OCCURS IN THE 1700-2000 RPM RANGE WHEN THE VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT ENGAGES. THE SEVERE IMBALANCE OF RUNNING ON ONLY 3 CYLINDERS TRANSMITS A DISTRACTING RUMBLING/ROARING VIBRATION INTO THE COCKPIT OF THE CAR. WHEN I ORIGINALLY TEST DROVE THE CAR, I DID SO IN STOP-IN-GO TRAFFIC AND ALSO BRIEFLY ON THE INTERSTATE, AND DID NOT DETECT THIS PHENOMENON UNTIL I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS VIBRATION, I WROTE A DETAILED LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN HONDA REGARDING MY UNHAPPINESS. A COLLEAGUE OF HIS, NAMED [XXX], CONTACTED ME BUT OFFERED NO HELP. SHE ACKNOWLEDGED RECEIVING MY LETTER AND SAID THAT IT WOULD GO ON FILE. I ASKED IF IT WERE POSSIBLE TO DISENGAGE THE VARIABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, BUT [XXX] SAID THAT HONDA DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT. I ASKED IF AMERICAN HONDA WOULD ALLOW ME TO SWAP BY NEW 2014 HONDA ACCORD EX-L V6 FOR A 4-CYLINDER EX-L, BUT [XXX] SAID THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE BETWEEN MY DEALER AND ME. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A HONDA V6 AGAIN AS LONG AS IT HAS ANY FORM OF VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT (VCM). I FEEL THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO GO ON RECORD REGARDING THIS MATTER. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA OWNER FOR THE LAST 30+ YEARS AND HAVE OWNED 5 NEW HONDA VEHICLES OVER THAT PERIOD OF TIME.
