All Steering Complaints (138)
2014 Honda Accord Hybrid purchased new, completed all routine and recommended maintenance over its life. - The passenger side drive shaft failed on May 5, 2025, pulling into our driveway, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. - The driver’s side drive shaft failed on December 4, 2025, leaving a shopping center parking lot, and it fell out of the bottom of the car onto the pavement. Attached are photos of both driveshafts, which clearly show the similarities in the failures. I have the parts for the driver’s side in my possession and am happy to furnish them for analysis. These failures are catastrophic in that the vehicle was rendered undrivable with a loss of control without warning. This vehicle is used daily for highway commuting and had this failure occurred on the highway at 65 mph, I believe it would have caused a serious crash of this vehicle and likely caused a multi-vehicle accident given the sudden nature of the failure and the lack of control the vehicle experienced upon failure. Honda Service Bulletin 20-125 appears to address a very similar concern for Honda Accord “CVT models.” The photos and inspection area listed in that bulletin seem to indicate that my car experienced a similar failure (Bulletin attached); however, I was told by the dealership that my VIN was not subject to the recall. I believe the vehicle is subject to a similar defect as described in the Service Bulletin for other Honda Accord models and believe it should be investigated and included in the recall. These failures have cost $2,279.47 in repair fees, approximately $400 in emergency towing and do not seem to be in line with routine maintenance or "wear and tear".
On 11/18/2025, while driving my 2014 Honda Accord 2.4L (VIN: [XXX] ), I experienced a sudden and dangerous safety failure. Without any warning, the steering became extremely hard and almost locked, making it nearly impossible to turn or control the vehicle. At the same moment, several warning indicators appeared on the dashboard, including: ABS warning VSA warning Brake System warning Because of this failure, the vehicle became unsafe to operate, and I was forced to stop. I could not continue driving due to the risk of losing control of the car. When I checked the recall information online, the system showed that my VIN has an active recall notification, but when I took my vehicle to the dealership (Victory Honda of Plymouth), they informed me that my specific issue is not covered under that recall, even though the symptoms match known ABS/VSA safety failures. The dealership stated that they will not repair the ABS/VSA issue unless I pay out of pocket, despite the steering nearly locking and the vehicle becoming unsafe. Since this involves loss of steering control, it represents a major safety hazard that could lead to a crash. I am requesting an investigation and guidance on whether this failure should be considered a safety-related repair and whether my VIN should be reviewed for inclusion in the recall, given the severity of the incident. The steering sticks and the assisted steering goes on and off without warning making it dangerous driving. Almost caused a collision. Steering light comes on and off. It sounds like the recall of the steering issue found on other Honda accords for 2014 of other VINs.
Power Steering Failure on multiple occasions dating back to November of 2023. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the steering wheel would lock while car was in motion, at times while making a turn, preventing me from operating my vehicle safely. The problem has been confirmed by three independent service centers: Meineke, located at 9640 S Cicero Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Reyes Auto Care, located at 9200 Kilpatrick Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Highline Automotive, located at 11332 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL. Vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics who all came to the conclusion of power steering issue, requiring system update or total replacement of gearbox and/or rack and pinion. Warning lights come on when issue starts. Has been ongoing since I acquired car in Nov of 2023
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle jerked and unexpectedly downshifted. The steering wheel warning light, check engine warning light, ABS, and TPS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several years ago, and the steering wheel seized. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

Brake and power steering lights come on and off. Occasionally power steering malfunctions. The cause has been diagnosed as the abs module. I will have to get it rebuilt. The wiring is a known issue with Honda.
Power steering goes out during driving. In order for power steering to work again, you must pull over, shut off the car and restart it. It has mostly happen while we have been driving on straight highways and roads and luckily it hasnt happened during any curvy roads or turns. This is one of our main cars we use to drive around town and travel with for adults and children. We took it in to mechanic shop and was told it may be the ABS sensor and they are ordering parts to replace it to see if that fixes the problem. The FCW, check engine, and sliding lights have been turning on and off.
Vehicle drives fine but a week ago the steering, traction, ABS, & brake lights all lit up on my Accord's dashboard. Took car to our regular mechanic, who then conducted diagnostic testing. This in turn, indicated that the ABS control module is the cause. Steering, traction, & braking are quite vital in the safe manuerving of stopping & controlling a vehicle in motion. If unable to manageable do so, I, as well as many others are potentially at risk.
The ABS light is on. brake light is on Auto shop said I need a new ABS module. Also the power steering light is on.
When driving at low speeds, for example looking for parking in my work parking lot, my 2014 Honda accord coupe lost power steering. Steering wheel became heavy and hard to turn. The screens flickered on the radio and the car felt like a manual car when it stalls. With every turn of the wheel the car would try to shut off. No warning light came on the dash. There was a car behind me when it happened. Even though it was a parking lot, the car behind me almost rear ended me since the car started to try to shut off when i was making a turn into the parking spot and he/she did not expect my car to stop before i completed the turn. This just happened an hour ago and since i had to come in to work I haven't taken it for a diagnoses yet.
A random day the cars steering wheel light came on,the abs light came on,the tire pressure light came on,and the traction control light came on
ABS Control Module Solenoid Valve Malfunction
When I perform a parallel parking maneuver, I turn the steering wheel fully to the right or left and begin backing up slowly. As I reach the halfway point and attempt to turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction, it becomes stiff and difficult to move, as if it’s frozen.
What happened? While driving my 2014 Honda Accord, both the brake and steering warning lights suddenly illuminated. The steering became difficult, indicating a loss of power steering assist. I pulled over safely and discovered that the ABS light remained on. After towing the vehicle to a service center, the technician confirmed that the ABS pump/module had failed, which triggered both warning lights and caused a failure in the power steering system. This malfunction poses a serious safety risk, potentially leading to loss of braking efficiency and steering control. The failure was sudden, with no prior warning signs. The service center advised that the ABS module requires replacement. Legal Protections and Manufacturer Liability: As a consumer, I am protected under state lemon laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. These laws mandate that vehicles sold must be free from defects affecting safety and performance. The ABS pump/module failure directly compromises the vehicle’s safety, making Honda responsible for repair or replacement. I should not bear the cost of this repair, as the issue is a manufacturing defect. Widespread Safety Issue and Call for Investigation: It has come to my attention that thousands of 2014 Honda Accords are experiencing the same ABS pump/module failure, a clear safety issue that affects both the braking and steering systems. This is a widespread defect that Honda has yet to acknowledge with a formal recall. This issue appears to be purposefully hidden, and I urge Honda to initiate a thorough investigation and recall to address this danger. If Honda does not act quickly, I will pursue legal action to ensure the safety of affected consumers, including complaints to regulatory bodies and potential class action litigation.
While driving on the road at about 45 MPH the power steering locked and the vehicle pulled off the road. The dealer ship stated is a known issue with faulty steering motors but the vehicle is not on a recall. This is hazardous and potentially deadly situation to be in.
Multiple Lights on Dashboard: ABS, EPS, Parking Brake, VSA, TPMS. Lights were intermittent at first, then became permanent. Car still runs and drives fine but ABS and Traction Control do not function. Local Mechanic scanned for codes and found the following: 121-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction 81-20 Central Processing Unit internal circuit malfunction 85-01 VSA system malfunction Local Mechanic has seen this before and recommended replacement of the VSA Modulator Valve assembly (Part number 04571-T2F-L01). Repair has not been completed. Transmission died (CVT belt Broke) at around 195,000 miles and about 6 months after VSA system issue started. Unsure if the problems were related. Car now has a new Transmission.
While driving, the Electric Power Steering system stopped working and the EPS warning light came on. I had to forcefully steer the car to the shoulder with great difficulty and shut the car off. I sat on the shoulder for approximately 10 minutes, restarted the car, noted the steering appeared to be functioning properly and began to continue home only to have the same issue again within 2 minutes of pulling away from the shoulder of the road. I managed to forcibly steer the car back onto the shoulder of the road and called for a tow truck to take it to a shop and the family home. The ship advised there was no fault code found with their system tools and that the issue may be with the electronics on the car needing to be reviewed/updated/replaced by Honda. It is my understanding this is not an isolated incident and could have resulted in a major crash had I not utilized my training as a police officer and accident reconstruction s[pecialist with the PD to recognize the issue and manage to keep the car safely in control until safely stopped.
All kinds of failure on dashboards. Codes 81-19 and 81-20. Mechanic said there is a chance abs brakes and traction control isn't working. Said this is very common for my car and that I should take it directly to Honda.
In the dashboard, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), ABS (Anti Lock Brake system), and BRAKE lights would turn on and off Intermittently. The lights could turn on starting the car in the morning or after driven for some time, for short period of time - 15 minutes to long period of time - 60 minutes. When these lights are on initially, a clank could be typically heard. When driven and slowed to around 10 MPH, the high-to-low whine could be heard. At low speeds, the car jerks on deaccelearation and acceleration. The car may be difficult to drive smoothly at low speeds. OBDII reader found no fault codes. Reports of other cars with simillar problem indicate issue with ABS module, wheel speed sensor, and/or battery.
My vehicle is pulling and steering is getting hard and unable to control. I was driving my vehicle with my child when I steering wheel locked up and jerked the right almost causing me to side swipe another vehicle. This is a known issue with this year, make and model of Honda and it has not been recalled. Vehicle was inspected by a mechanic and deemed unsafe because of power steering failure
I have 2014 honda accord coupe. A days a go while driving local street my steering wheel lost control n vehicle stopped. On dash board it displayed sign with steering wheel n exclamation. When I reached thru honda manual it was the power steering torque sensor. This incident happened twice and both times as said in manual I turned off the car n it reseted itself. However I took it to my mechanic n he said that it's a power steering torque sensor failure. I read more online n there is a recall n extended Warrenty from Honda. Can you fix my car issue?
The ABS, VSA, EPS, and the parking brake systems began to appear on my dashboard. After diagnostics, it appeared that the VSA modulator was failing to provide all these components that are needed for safety in all driving conditions. After doing some research, I came to know that the modulator failure is very common in the Honda Accord models from year 2010 and above. Yet, Honda has yet to recall vehicles for this issue that affects the brake and steering systems. So far, the lights continuously appear and disappear. However, there is a huge difference when the intermittent lights appear. The car swerves too easily on rainy days when running through a puddle on the street. Even on windy days, sometimes it cannot handle when I am driving against the wind. The car's steering system feels too vulnerable and sensitive when these lights are on given that I have none of that systems providing the extra safety components. I fear that one day when I have to brake suddenly to prevent I crash, I will lose control instead and cause a fatal accident. The part is too expensive and total costs can reach up to $3,000 or more, and like everyone else who has reported this issue. I cannot afford to repair it as of now, but will need to be on a day where the financials can support the repair.
On [XXX] just after dark I picked up the car at Detroit at the motel airport parking and proceeded north on [XXX] to [XXX] when I noticed the red battery signal on the dash. A warning notice said Check charging system. By the time I reached [XXX] the dash lights and power steering went out as well as all the lights and emergency flashers. I coasted up the ramp and through a red light and the car stopped blocking South bound [XXX] . I called 911 they got me a tow to Fisher Honda in Ypsilanti Mi. The failure of a Alternator was the cause . We were unable to warn other cars and protect our car. We were lucky. Was driving on highway and without warning the power steering system locked up and i was going 60 mph and almost lost control of my car. Yellow steering wheel with exclamation point light up on my dash board!
Power steering, and ABS light flash on at random. The vehicle sometimes veers off and steering is frequently very very loose or very very tight. Also, there is a whining that never stops when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right, the vehicle almost shut off and the entire dash and radio shut off and back on. When I am at a stop or cars at idle everything will dim and car. Sounds like it’s almost going to die and then back to normal had looked at and they couldn’t find any noticeable issues.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the steering wheel was inoperable. The contact stated that the check engine warning light had been illuminated, and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence and parked. The contact stated that the warning lights remained illuminated and that the emergency brake appeared to be loose and made a clicking sound while enabled. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at the dealer three weeks ago and it was diagnosed with a failed control module assembly. The control module assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 251,459.

ABS / VSA module failure
1. Im experiencing an ABS module failure (Honda calls it VSA module). 2. When the system messed up it causes my traction control and anti-lock brakes to turn off. 3. The problem has been reproduced as it keeps randomly turning all of the systems on and off randomly, multiple times during a single drive. 4. It has not been inspected by any of the people listed. 5. Nothing prior to the failure just all of a sudden my dashboard indicated that my electronic steering system, ABS, forward collision warning system, lane departure warning system, and tire pressure monitoring system all shut down. When the codes were read it all leads back to a failure in the ABS/VSA module. Reading articles online has shown me others that have had this issue has made me realize this is a very large number of vehicles affected and could cause great bodily harm or death to occupants or others on the roadway. Attached in the photo section i have supplied pictures of the codes currently on the vehicles computer. I have cleared the codes and the failure immediately came back and all safety systems turned back off.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at various speeds, the steering wheel inadvertently jerked to the right and became firm. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact's daughter was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that his daughter turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the steering wheel operated as needed. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure also occurred while at a complete stop at a traffic light. The contact's daughter turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the steering wheel operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring more frequently. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a fee would be charged for diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The mechanic related the failure to TSB Number: 15-055 and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

When the car warms up I get a total of four lights ABS the traction control the brake light and the steering control light comes on Also was told that the problem to fix it was the ABS pump and module which no one has in stock six months out to purchase
MY FCW SYSYTEM HAS FAILED. MY LDW , POWER STEERING , FCW , TIRE PRESSURE ARE ON THE DASH. HONDA KEEPS SAYING IT NEEDS A NEW VSA MODULE WHICH IS EXPENSIVE . MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED FOR 2013-2017 HONDA ACCORD MODELS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BY HONDA ASAP. THIS IS A HIGE SAFETY RISK.
I was making a left turn and my steering wheel locked up. I couldn't return the wheel right to straighten out. The car kept going left. I had to put my car in reverse and after some time the steering wheel unlocked while in reverse. I was on a busy street and almost caused an accident. I was on the right lane and it forced me into the left lane. The driver I cut off was able to brake just in time without hitting my car. No lights on dashboard. Not able to reproduce by dealership. Dealership scanned code 85-01 VSA system malfunction and is charging $3k to replace the VSA modulator part #04571-T2F-L11. No other symptoms prior. I have dashcam video as well [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Power steering system failed when starting the car. Steering wheel was jittery/jerky and was near impossible to turn it; it was very difficult to back it out of a parking space to get it towed. This happened once the service shop replaced a relay and the car was driven home without incident. However, the problem came back the next morning when we started the car again; it cannot be safely driven when the steering wheel starts acting up like this.
The power steering has gone out multiple times while driving down the road. It was replaced 20 days ago and less than 600 miles has been put on it and it went out again. My steering wheel locked up and I lost all control of the car. This put myself and others at risk because I have no use of the steering wheel when it goes out. The problem was reproduced and a new rack put on and in less than 600 miles it happened again. There were no warning signs or lights that appeared before it happened. They come on at the time the steering goes out.
I received a diagnosis from Honda Dealership today that my 2014 vehicle has a failed VSA Modulator which regulates brakes and all abs features. They stated it was only from wear and tear on my vehicle. I am only at 109,000 miles. They quoted me a price of $3000.00 to fix the problem and noted I could not pick up my car without signing a statement that I understood the problem and understood that my brakes would eventually fail without fixing the problem. I cannot currently afford to fix the problem or safely drive my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the power steering suddenly malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction and nearly causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and drive into the opposite lane while oncoming traffic was approaching. The contact used an OBD reader and retrieved a code for the steering torque sensor. The contact was informed that the steering torque sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The power steering seemed to have gotten "stuck" in place or so it felt or seemed for a short time while driving. I have noticed that when I am turning the wheel that I can hear noise when turning as if it's not moving smoothly. If my power steering stops working while driving or gets stuck, then that could pose a serious problem to me and other drivers. The problem is daily now with the sound of every left or right turn. This component has not been inspected by anyone yet. There weren't any warnings.
I had several warning light appear on the dashboard, and the dealership said that my VSA modulator was starting to go bad. This device controls power steering, anti-lock brakes and other functions. While driving to the Honda service department, the brakes were very low and the steering was loose (dangerous conditions). After doing some research, I found that Honda recalled the VSA modulator on other models, but not for my 2014 Accord. Many other owners of the same model stated that their VSA modulators failed around 34k-36k miles (right at the end of warranty). I still have the original VSA modulator, the dealer just reset the warning lights and sent me on my way. I am writing to request an investigation for Honda to extend the VSA modulator recall to more models, such as the 2014 Accord.
The EPS on my 2014 Honda Accord EX-L did not perform its primary functions. Such as steering. The steering wheel became very difficult to move. The wheel was extremely stiff and vibrated at the slightest attempt to turn in either direction. I am grateful this did not happen while I was driving on the road.
In my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid, the power steering light suddenly lit up while driving and the steering became stiff. It has been coming on and off for few months now. For 99% of the time the car runs normal, no issue, no dash light etc. I replaced the EPS unit at Honda dealer, it went away for a while, now it has come back again. It cam happen at any day of the week atleast 2 to 3 times a week. The steering goes stiff with light on, stays stiff for 30 seconds to sometimes over a minute on highway then it goes off on its own. It is a major safety risk on highway when suddenly the light comes on and steering goes stiff, it gets very hard to mauver or change lanes during this time until it goes off and returns to normal.
Driving normally , while the car is doing 30mph power steering light comes on and steering wheel locks and becomes hard to turn the wheel. Light will go off randomly and resume normal driving. Looks like it may be an electrical issue as I checked and this car is known for this problem. Last month, my driveshaft broke off and couldn't continue driving, this was a known recall and I went to get it fixed. I do not feel safe driving my car with this known problem and you all should request Honda to recall this issue.
The power steering system of the car (68000 miles on odometer) abruptly stopped working while pulling away from the curb at the airport. Car was turned off and restarted; the steering warning light which had appeared went away. Steering worked well for a couple of weeks when it failed again while driving 60 MPH on the interstate. This was very scary and dangerous to myself and other motorists! Fortunately I was able to steer across lanes to right berm and stop. Car was restarted and taken to service location. The steering warning light was cleared and we were told to take the car to a Honda dealer. Honda dealer had car for over a week but could not get steering to 'act up'. For approximately the next 11 months, steering would randomly go off without warning. This happened in parking situations and also while turning on city roads. Eventually steering warning light could no longer be cleared by turning off motor and restarting. Honda dealer replaced entire steering rack and assembly for over $3500. Since steering system has been replaced, we have had no steering problems.
When at low speeds especially when pulling into parking spot with wheel turned, wheel seems to stick, heat turns off and once parked, power steering makes squeaking noise. Has occurred multiple times. Realize there is already an investigation into this. Unsure what issue may be. Will likely take to Honda to ensure safe operation of vehicle.
Power steering randomly goes out while the vehicle is in motion, sometimes on the interstate at high speed. Honda has "fixed" this 4 times and still has issues. Turning the car off and back on temporarily resolves the issue.
Car occasionally experiences unintended acceleration. This happening today 9/4/2022. Car was brought to a complete stop. It suddenly accelerated while the foot was still on the brake, causing it to rear-end the car in front. Thankfully there no physical injuries reported (yet) We had experienced this a couple of time before. I had contact Honda as well as the local dealer and they cleared the car with no changes.
Replaced VSA modulator at 100k, drove for 7 months, steering locked up as I was driving down highway. I was able to control and took to dealership where they said VSA modulator needed to be replaced again. Additionally, starter went out at 168k. Not the quality we expect from Honda.
The power steering stops working and the display on the screen goes blank leaving you with no power steering momentarily to steer the vehicle. Putting the driver and other at risk because you don’t have full control of the vehicle. In my situation after the vehicle seems to shut off jerking the steering wheel in your hands then it restarts again on it own. I’m in the process of scheduling a appointment with a repair shop for diagnosis. I did not notice any warning lamps, not to say there weren’t any it’s that I didn’t notice them.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Computer System Firmware, available for inspection, currently at dealership. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Multiple dashboard functions not functioning at random. Appears related to a firmware update provided under another recall (Bulletin 15-055:6ZS00EPS Software Update). It is suspected due to timing of incident onset, beginning the day after service. Firmware was installed by dealership service dept. It is unknown at this time all of the buttons affected. Since buttons on steering wheel are affected, and cruise control is also located there, this could pose a severe hazard if cruise control does not respond to a disable request. Cell Phone, radio, display change functions do not work from dashboard. There was a follow up software update (on same EPS system) performed by dealership on June 30, 2020 that improved condition for one day, returning to same issues on the 2nd drive. Details of this update: previous version: 39990-T2F-A010 Update program: 39990-T2F-A020 program part number: 39990-T2F-3050-M1in control module 39980-T2F-A014 Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Jim at the dealership confirmed the issue within 30 seconds of his investigation. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, dealership service center. Will be at dealership 2022-07-11 to 2022-07-15 (estimated) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No prior indication until a dashboard function is used. First appeared 2022-05-17
The auto is hard to steer. I have not had an incident yet but it is increasingly hard to steer. I received a questionnaire a out this issue earlier this year. Auto steering was fine at that time. That is no longer the case.
Every time I start my Car the EPS light comes on and I have to use an unnecessary amount of strength to turn the wheel. I am unable to drive the car because I can't turn it far enough to turn. I went to the Honda Dealership and paid $1,000 to replace the control unit and the problem is still here. The EPS light reappeared while I was driving after Honda Claimed that they fixed the issue.
While starting my vehicle the Electronic Power Steering indicator light remained on after engine start. Now my vehicle's steering wheel in unable to turn.
On 5/24/2022 when starting the car the power steering warning light came on, and there was no power steering. The steering wheel shakes when trying to turn. If this had happened when the car was moving at speed there would be a high potential for a (lethal) accident. We have not seen this issue before. We tried restarting the car multiple times, and the warning and issue persisted. Checked the EPS fuse, and that was fine. We ended up taking the car to Grainger Honda in Savannah, GA, and they confirmed the issue. They had to replace the EPS control unit. Not sure if they disposed of the old EPS control unit. The invoice number for the repair is 420950
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon shifting into reverse, the steering wheel failed to operate as the power steering assist warning symbol appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL! 11 May 2017, driving highway 5 to LA, speed control on at 72 MPH. Suddenly car veered to the left, all over both lanes. I was unable to get the car to drive straight. The car continued to swerve left then into the right lane causing it to spin backwards off the highway and into the dirt. I still was unable to stop the car as it continued to roll over. I was upside down and trapped inside the car. COMPLAINT WAS FILED IN 2017.
I am experiencing electric power steering loss on my 2014 Honda Accord LX. Every time I make a sharp turn to pull into a parking space the electric power steering cuts out. And then comes back on when I stop turning the steering wheel. This happened to me about 3 or 4 times with the last incident happening to me today. Now a check engine light is illuminated. There were no lamps illuminated prior to this. When the steering cuts out I can't control the car as the steering is frozen and it is too hard to turn the steering wheel and can easily cause an accident. I am going to bring it to the dealer ASAP.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while their family member was driving at 20 mph and attempting to make a left turn when the vehicle suddenly began to pull to the left independently. The driver ended up making a U-turn due to the failure and was on the other side of the road when the vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bag did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed, however, they were still waiting on the status of the vehicle's condition. The driver sustained bruising to chest area and medical attention was needed. The contact stated that they believed their issue related to NHTSA Investigation EA21001. The contact had not spoken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15, 000.

Driving home from work on an icy road, the Steering Failed. The Car would not turn left or right, I was on a highway, driving at 55 mph and had to stop the car. The dashboard lit with a Steering Fault indicator, After the failure. My safety was greatly endangered by the sudden failure, with no steering control I have had the entire steering rack replaced by my local repair shop. The selling dealer was not interested in any concessions to me, nor any admission of an existing service bulletin. I have the failed steering rack in my possession
The EPS system has an issue that caused my car to stop on the highway. I was able to move to the side of the road but the car was jerking back and forth. The engine light and tire pressure sensor also infighter.
The power steering stops working while driving and steering becomes very difficult. The power steering warning light also goes on. Honda Repair in San Rafael has had my car 3 times for repair, and they also replaced the power steering at no charge. Unfortunately, the problem persists. As far as I know, Honda has not been able to reproduce the problem. It happens after at least 30 minutes of driving. When I stop the car and turn it off the problem clears. 1/23/22 was the last time it happened to me. The car is with Honda Repair now.
My car exhibited the identical problem described in TSB# 10152446. When I reported it to Honda, they said my vehicle doesn't qualify because the VIN # does not fall within the range of vehicles covered. This is a very obscure, specific and costly failure/repair. The fact that other identical vehicles (Make, year, and specific model) are covered suggests to me that the method used to determine which cars to cover was in error. What do I need to do to have this investigated?
Electric power steering light came on just after vehicle startup. Steering was very difficult. When I attempted to turn the wheel, it shook and vibrated regardless of whether I was stopped or moving. Felt dangerous to drive because of the lack of control. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I stopped and started the vehicle several times, and the problem seemed to resolve after the 4 6th or 7th restart. I was then able to drive with no further incidents over a 25 miles drive with many turns. Now the next morning the warning light is back on, and the steering is once again very difficult and shaky. I've attempted dozens of stops and restarts, with rest periods between, but no luck in getting the power steering to work again.
On 11/18/2021 afternoon, once I turned on the engine, the steering was so tight and did not move at all. After that, the EPS yellow light indicator was appeared, so I turned off the engine and turned on again. However, the same symptoms appeared again, so I called the tow and dropped off my car at the body shop. After the body shop diagnosed my car, they said it might happen because of the software error and recommend to bring the car to the dealer since the malfunction issue is related with the software. So, I called the tow again and the towing company dropped my car at dealer on Sat. (11/20/2021). I went to dealer service center on Monday (11/22/2021) and the technician diagnosed that this was related to electronic power steering computer system (because the computer is so bad) not related to with the software of the driveshaft recall service (we got driveshaft recall service from this dealer a month ago) Since the steering is the main part of the driving, if it's malfunctioned, it will lead the serious injuries to drivers, passengers, and other drivers. This problem diagnosed by the dealer service center technician. No, it was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or other, but I called American Honda and explained about the issue. However, they just said because it's out of warranty, they can't pay the service. The car has been only 6 years and I never ever heard from other nor had have experience that the steering was not move because of the bad EPS computer system. There is no warning symptoms or message. It just appeared without waring on 11/18/2021 afternoon. (the car work properly in the same day of the morning). Because this problem is not made or cause by the driver, it is seriously unfair to pay the repair fee by the customer. Because America Honda used the malfunctioned computer part, they must pay the repair fee regardless warranty period. Please see attached for the detailed information.
While driving on freeway at 65 miles an hour power steering went out for a few seconds and cause me to veer out of lane. Luckily no one was in the lane next to me. Several time when pulling into parking space and making a sharp right or left turn the steering will have the same issue. The car has not been taken to a dealer and no warning lights or other symptoms appear prior to the failure. The issue on the freeway was the week of 11/15/2021. The other issue has been happening for several months. This is a very serious safety issue and could result in death of me or my children and grandchildren. i am very hesitant to drive this car on the freeway which is very inconvenient.

Starter not working all the time. Will not start engine. Constantly doing oil changes. Battery replacements too often. Won’t start.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel locked up. While reversing and starting the vehicle, the steering wheel failed to operate as needed. There was unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Total loss of steering control which happened suddenly without warning. Traveling at 70 MPH on US 75 20 miles south of Naples Florida. Car suddenly steered hard right. Unable to control steering. Collided with guard rail, then car turned hard left, crossed 3 lanes of interstate and came to stop in grass median. Turned off engine, turned it back on, then car was able to steer normally. It was lucky that there were no cars around me at the time. Accident happened at 12:30 PM 10/11/21. There were 2 people in car. Passenger side airbags deployed. Neck soft tissue injury to one person. Travelers insurance unable to arrange towing in timely fashion, so I pried the right rear fender away from the tire, with a Jack handle. Drove slowly to Honda in Naples, FL. They sent me to Supreme Auto Collision in Naples, where the car is located now. They have asked Honda to inspect it.
Momentary loss of power steering while maneuvering out of parking space. Jerking, power steering goes in and out. It's happened a handful of times recently. No service lights. It's difficult for me to understand problem and if, at some point, it may occurs at higher speeds. I don't want to take car to dealer because I can't preproduce problem.
When I turned the car there were no alarming lights. I reversed out my driveway, but once in the street I realized I could not turn my steering wheel. This is when several of the dashboard lights illuminated. The following lights illuminated: engine, power steering, and ABS. I drove back into my drive way and placed the car in park. After about one minute in park the car turned off on its own. This put my safety at risk because this was at peak morning traffic and if I cannot steer to drive off after I reverse into traffic it can be severely dangerous. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no precursors to this issue. It drove fine the day before.
The steering is tight on the sharper turns such as parking and reversing the car. The steering wheel seems to be jammed and requires force to turn it. I bought the vehicle from the Honda dealer in 2017 and it has only 40,000 miles on it.
Electric power steering keeps going out randomly. Sometimes for days sometimes I can restart it. Already had it into Honda they said they fixed a broken harness wire; tried charging me $900 for that I got it reduced to $600. Still having power steering issues. It some kind of electrical problem I think. Really dangerous to drive. Also not as random to have the fcw/ldw system go out.

In November 2019 I was involved in and accident because the steering failed. The air bag also broke my neck. The person that I hit was also injured. No one ever inspected the car. My Insurance Company told my lender that it is still impounded.
Driving on expressway steering in my vehicle stop functioning, my car veered into a guard rail, almost causing myself and my passenger to lose our lives. We a suffering from severe pain and injuries.
After driving 180 miles on the highway at approximately 65-70 mph going downhill, the steering wheel started to shake violently side to side without any warning. We did not hit anything. It only lasted a few seconds. The car did not go out of the lane, but it was very frightening for myself, and my wife in the front passenger seat. The Honda Dealer checked the car and could not duplicate the problem, or find a Digital Trouble Code. We have never had any problem with this car prior to this instance.
I've been to Honda twice to get an alignment in 1 month, but for some reason it seems that the car continues to pull to the right. A few days ago I came across and article mentioning issues with Honda steering wheels, so I'm wondering if my car has the same issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle and the steering functionality returned. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Apple Honda (1375 County Rd 58, Riverhead, NY 11901 (631) 727-0555) where it was diagnosed with needing the power steering rack to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED UP ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 2 LANE CITY STREET. CONDITIONS WERE DRY, AND WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, SO SPEED LIMIT WAS 35. UPON NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER THE CAR I ENDED UP HITTING A CABLE LINE WIRE, AND WAS SPUN INTO THE FRONT YARD OF SOME TOWNHOMES. I ENDED UP ALSO HITTING SOME LARGE ROCKS AND LANDING IN BETWEEN 2 LARGE TREES. UPON COMING TO A STOP, I THEN REALIZE THAT THE IMPACT HAD ALSO CAUSED MY SIDE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I AM INQUIRING ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE. WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, OR PARK, SPORT I CANNOT SEE THE LIGHT ON THE SYSTEM. IT CONSTANTLY BLINKS LIKE IT'S STUCK. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP NUMEROUS TIMES TO DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERS. I AM IN THE MILITARY AND ACTIVE DUTY SO I USE MY VEHICLE TO DRIVE FOR WORK. IT ALSO HAS CONNECTION ISSUES WITH MY BLUETOOTH WHEN I TRY TO CONNECT MY PHONE OR NEED TO TAKE A PHONE CALL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW YEARS AND I STILL HAVE MY DOCUMENTATION AND RECEIPTS FOR ALL THE HONDAS AND SERVICE DEALERS THAT HAVE PREFORMED SERVICES ON MY CAR AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED OR RESOLVED AND DATES BACK ALL THE WAY FROM 2016-2020. THERE HAS BEEN TIMES WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON IN THE MORNING AND THE TEMPERATURE AND SCREENS ARE ALL SCRAMBLED AS WELL. I ADDED ALL MY RECEIPTS AND I HAVE SPENT OVER $6,007.23 TO BE EXACT ON MY CAR REPAIRS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION FOR THE ELECTRICAL ERRORS THAT KEEP HAPPENING. I DO HOPE SOMEONE CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND MY SAFETY CONCERNS ON MY VEHICLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND I CAN BE CONTACTED BELOW. 2014 HONDA ACCORD HAD VSA, ABS, TIRE PRESSURE AND EPS (STEERING) LIGHTS ALL COME ON AT RANDOM AND TURN OFF AT RANDOM. THERE IS ALSO A LOSS OF STEERING ACCURACY AT LOW SPEEDS (LOWER THAN 5MPH) ON FULL LOCK. ABS WOULD ENGAGE UNDER BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS - AT TIMES WHEN THE ABS WAS NOT NECESSARY TO HELP THE STOPPING OF THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AND ENGAGE AND RANDOM TIMES (10-25MPH ROUGHLY). HONDA DEALERSHIP WANTS $1920 TO FIX THE ISSUE, AND STATED THAT THEY SUGGEST NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED DUE TO IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY ISSUE FOR NOT ONLY THE DRIVER, BUT OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I AM MAKING THIS COMPLAINT SO THAT BOTH HONDA AND THE NHTSA CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS HAPPENING AND CAN CORRECT IT AND RECALL IT. IF THE US GOVERNMENT MANDATES (SINCE SEPT 1, 2013) CARS MUST HAVE ABS AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (HONDA'S CALLS IT VSA) THAN HOW IS THIS OKAY TO LET HONDAS ON THE ROAD WITH THESE FAILURES. AT THE HIGH PRICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE I DOUBT MANY HONDA OWNERS ARE WILLING TO AFFORD IT.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE TIRE PLACE TO CHECK AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG AND AFTER MONTHS OF GOING BACK ALMOST WEEKLY AT THIS POINT ONE OF THE TECHS SAYS HE HEARD OTHER HONDA ACCORD'S WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT IT MAY BE A FALSE READING. THEN AFTER SOME WEEKS MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. AT FIRST IT WAS ONLY IN THE AFTERNOON OR LATER THESE LIGHT WOULD COME ON BUT NOW IT'S WHENEVER. SOMETIMES THEY GO OFF AFTER I START DRIVING BUT THEN THEY EVENTUALLY COME BACK ON. I PICKED UP MY CAR AND WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON HIGHWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THE NEXT THING IS TO REPLACE POWER STEERING COLUMN FOR $2200. THEY ARE NOT EVEN SURE IF THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS AND I SEE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ALSO REPORTED THIS PROBLEM

I WAS ON MY WAY TO LA DRIVING MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX, SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 5. AFTER ABOUT 3 HOURS OF DRIVING, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, CRUISE CONTROL ON GOING ABOUT 72 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY VEERED TO THE LEFT. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN WITH THE BRAKE AND FOUGHT WITH THE CAR TRYING TO GET IT TO GO STRAIGHT HOWEVER THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL. I TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO STOP THE CAR FROM GOING TO THE LEFT HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD NOT COOPERATE AND WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD, BOTH LANES. IT CONTINUED TO SWERVE LEFT INTO THE RIGHT LANE CAUSING IT TO SPIN BACKWARDS OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DIRT. I STILL WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR AS IT CONTINUED THEN ROLLED OVER. I WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND TRAPPED IN MY CAR. MY FEET WERE UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY BODY WAS LENGTHWISE ACROSS THE PASSENGER SEAT....MY SEAT BELT STILL ON. I UNBUCKLED AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHICH I COULD NOT OPEN. MY CELL PHONE WAS ON A CHARGER AND WAS STILL WITHIN REACH SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 (9:35AM) AND TOLD DISPATCH I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND ANOTHER MOTORIST HAD ALREADY CALLED IT IN. THE CHP OFFICER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE DOOR OPEN. I HAD A TOWEL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT WHICH WAS NOW UNDER ME SO I HANDED IT TO HIM TO LAY OVER THE GLASS, I WAS THEN ABLE TO CRAWL OUT OF MY CAR. MY HANDS WERE BLEEDING ESPECIALLY ONE SPOT ON MY LEFT HAND THAT WOULDN'T STOP SO THE OFFICER GOT OUT HIS EMERGENCY BAG AND HANDED ME GAUZE TO PUT ON MY HAND. EVENTUALLY THE BLEEDING STOPPED. THE CHP SAID HE HAS SEEN ACCIDENTS LIKE MINE AND THE OUTCOME WAS NOT GOOD. 2014 HONDA ACCORDS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES. COMPLAINTS STATE 'CAR PULLING TO THE LEFT'. (CARPROBLEMZOO.COM) MEDICAL ISSUES: WHIPLASH, SOFT TISSUE INJURY TO NECK AND BACK, CUTS TO HANDS AND LEFT ARM, BRUISES TO LEFT ARM, THIGH AND KNEE. WAS UNABLE TO UPLOAD PICTURES.

WHILE DRIVING THE EPS INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE. TOOK THE 2014 ACCORD TO THE HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP WHERE A ERROR CODE 53-01 WAS RECORDED. HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP IN LOUISVILLE KY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. RELEARNED THE TORQUE SENSOR POSITION. WORKED OK FROM 6-2-2017 TO 6-11-2017. WHILE DRIVING THE EPS INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE AGAIN ON 6-11-2017. WILL TAKE BACK INTO THE HONDA WORLD DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED. HONDA DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO CORRECT A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE ACCORD.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BRAKING INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND TURNED RIGHT AND LEFT INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD EX-L WAS PARALLEL PARKED IN A NEIGHBORHOOD, I TURNED IT ON AND STARTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO EXIT THE PARKING SPACE. THE FIRST TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL HAD NO PROBLEM, BUT AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR I MOVED 5 FEET FORWARD AND THEN I HEARD A SERIES OF CLICKING NOISES COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AND THE STEERING BECAME IMPOSSIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN, AND THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. I TRIED TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN, BUT EVERY TIME I TURNED THE CAR ON, THERE WERE A SERIES OF CLICKS AND THE STEERING WOULD REMAIN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN WITH THE EPS LIGHT STAYING LIT. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED, AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE EPS CONTROL UNIT FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. I HAD DRIVEN OVER 100 MILES THAT DAY ON BUSY HIGHWAYS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND IF THIS FAILURE WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ANY OTHER TIME THROUGHOUT THE DAY I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT.

LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE TURNING AT A CURVE. WELL KNOWN ROAD, IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, UP A HILL. DRIVE IT DAILY. TO AVOID HITTING, CLIMBED ON CURB, , TOOK ENTIRE STRENGTH I HAD TO PUT VEHICLE BACK IN STRAIGHT LINE. AS A RESULT CAR SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE, I PULLED SOME MUSCLES I NEVER KNEW I HAD. I BARELY AVOIDED HITTING THE A BILLBOARD SIGN HEAD ON. I AM GRATEFUL FOR THERE BEING NO PEDESTRIANS ON THE SIDEWALK, AS IT IS CLOSE TO AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. FLUID LEAKED FROM CAR AFTERWARDS. I NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR PRIOR, HAD IT FOR A YEAR, A BRAND NEW LEASE. HONDA DEALERSHIP SAID ALL THE DAMAGE IS FROM THE IMPACT TO CURB. CANNOT FIND FAULTS. DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. HAD TO RESTART THE CAR TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING KICK BACK ON. HAS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE REQUIRING MULTIPLE RESTARTS TO (5 OR SIX RESTARTS OF THE CAR TO KICK ON) TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (GRAINGER HONDA-SAVANNAH GA) ON 9/10/2015. TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE SYMPTOM THROUGH 50+ MILES OF DRIVING. NO FURTHER ACTION WOULD BE TAKE AND THEY WOULD WASH THE CAR AND GIVE ME A TANK OF GAS FOR MY TROUBLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY.

I STARTED MY CAR IN PARK WHILE ON A HILL WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. THE CAR STARTED MOVING A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE I RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IMMEDIATELY, I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I STOPPED THE CAR BY PUTTING ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PUTTING THE TRANS MISSION IN PARK. THE TOTAL TRIP WAS ABOUT 100 YARDS. I NOTICED THAT 5 OR 6 WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON INCLUDING THE BATTERY. THEN I QUICKLY TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I WAITED FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND EMBARKED ON A 25 MILE TRIP HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

I LOOKED AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND NOTICE MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT ON. I APPLIED EXCESSIVE EFFORT TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN AND MANAGE TO STOP IN A PARKING LOT WHERE, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD. THE NEXT MORNING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME SITUATION ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT A VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO A POND. UPDATED 9/15/15 *LN.... UPDATED 09/30/15*BF UPDATED 11/07/2017*CN

THE ENGINE SEIZED JUST FROZE AND DIED. THIS WAS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I WAS MAKING ANY KIND OF SHARP TURN. ON THE SECOND TO LAST OCCURRENCE 4/12/15 IT FAILED TO START AND WAS COMPLETELY DEAD WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY 5 TIMES. ON THE 6TH, IT MIRACULOUSLY STARTED. WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THE ENGINE SEIZED AGAIN AND IT WAS STUCK FOR A SCARY MOMENT. THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY OPEN THE HOOD AND POINTED OUT*** A KNOWN COMMON MANUFACTURING FLAW NEAR THE BATTERY, WHERE THE BOLT FOR THE BATTERY RANDOMLY LOSES CONTACT WITH THE SOURCE. HE SHOWED ME WERE IT "WOBBLES OUT OF PLACE- SEIZING THE ENTIRE CAR COMPLETELY!! THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I MADE UTURNS, TURNED CORNERS, AND PULLED IN OR OUT OF PARKING SPOTS. HOW COULD THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY FLAW BE IGNORED??!! I WAS TERRIFIED! THE REAL HORROR IS THAT THIS VERY DEALERSHIP DID AN OIL CHANGE THE WEEK PRIOR AND NO ONE CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM!!! I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW FROM THEM IN NOV. 2014.!!! THIS IS TRUE NEGLIGENCE. I AM FURIOUS. I HAD BROUGHT THE CAR IN TWICE PRIOR TO THIS TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED OVER BECAUSE IT IS MY FOURTH NEW ACCORD, AND I NEW IT WAS NOT RIGHT WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH. PLEASE HELP. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AND LIFE. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. [XXX] CAR WAS LEASED IN LATE NOVEMBER 2014 FROM CRAMER HONDA OF VENICE AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNWILLING TO ADDRESS MY COMPLAINTS IN A SATISFACTORY WAY. TO: NHTSA I HAD PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA ACCORD IN MARCH 2014 AND SOON AFTER I NOTICED A RATTLING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT FOR REPAIR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK ME ON A TEST DRIVE TO HEAR THE NOISE AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE RATTLING NOISE IS NOT ALWAYS PRESENT AND IT COMES UNPREDICTABLY THEREFORE EVERY TIME I GO TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY WANT ME TO DRIVE IT AND REPLICATE THE NOISE WHICH IS SOMETIMES NOT POSSIBLE. I HAVE RECORDINGS OF THE NOISE AND THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT TO FIX THE CAR. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE HAD PERSONALLY TOLD ME THAT IT IS A DEFECT AND THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION FOR IT AND THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THEIR ENGINEERING FIGURES OUT A FIX. I HIRED A LEMON LAWYER A FEW MONTHS AGO TO HELP ME. I AM INFURIATED THAT HONDA IS OFFERING ME TO SETTLE BY PAYING ME ?SOME MONIES FOR MY TROUBLE? WITHOUT GOING TO TRIAL BUT THEY STILL ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX OR REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE CAR. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT HONDA IS ALLOWING ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVEN THOUGH I EXPRESSED SAFETY CONCERNS AND EVEN WORSE THEY TRY TO PUT A PRICE TAG TO SETTLE FOR MY SAFETY INSTEAD OF ACKNOWLEDGING AND RESOLVING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE A TRIAL SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 22- 23, 2015, I FEEL LIKE THIS APPOINTMENT IS TOO FAR AND THE MORE I DRIVE THIS CAR THE HIGHER RISK IT POSSES FOR MY SAFETY. MY EXPERIENCE WITH HONDA HAS BEEN AN APPALLING ONE SO FAR AND I WANT TO EXPRESS MY FRUSTRATION WITH THE PROCESS. AFTER HONDA?S HISTORY AND PENALTY OF WRONGDOING TO THE PUBLIC I WOULD ASSUME THAT THEY TAKE MORE AGGRESSIVE MEASURES ADDRESSING SAFETY ISSUES BEFORE THEY CAUSE HARM. I WOULD LIKE YOUR ASSISTANCE AND INVOLVEMENT IN THIS BATTLE WITH HONDA AND TRYING TO MAKE THEM REALIZE THAT THEY CAN?T JUST PAY INDIVIDUALS MONEY AND BRUSH SAFETY ISSUES UNDER THE CARPET. *TR
UPON BEING HANDED THE KEYS TO MY BRAND NEW 2014 HONDA ACCORD I NOTICED A LOT OF SCRATCHES NEAR THE DOORS. I THOUGHT IT ODD SINCE IT'S A KEYLESS ENTRY CAR. THE SALESPERSON AGREED THAT THERE SHOULDN'T BE SCRATCHES, AND SAID THOSE WOULD PROBABLY COME OUT, AND OFFERED ME A COURTESY "BUFFING." AFTER TAKING POSSESSION OF MY NEW CAR, I NOTICED A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PULLING ONTO THE STREET. I ALSO NOTICED IT TOOK MORE WORK TO STEER THE CAR THAN MY OTHER CAR WHICH I BOUGHT NEW FIVE YEARS AGO. I ALSO NOTICED SOME TAPE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FRONT BUMPER THAT HADN'T BEEN REMOVED. IN ADDITION, THE TRUNK LID WASN'T ADJUSTED PROPERLY, SO IT CONTINUALLY FALLS DOWN WHEN I'M AT THE TRUNK AREA. NOW I AM WONDERING IF MY NEW CAR WAS NOT ONLY NOT "DETAILED," BUT NOT PROPERLY INSPECTED BEFORE "DELIVERY." FURTHERMORE, AT 16,000 MILES, IT NOW HAS A CONSTANT POPPING NOISE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE FRONT END. THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE (DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL). *TR

I WAS GETTING SERVICE DONE ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC RECALL HTTP://WWW.CONSUMERREPORTS.ORG/CRO/NEWS/2014/03/FREE-ENGINE-REPLACEMENT-FOR-2006-2009-HONDA-CIVICS/INDEX.HTM. I WAS GIVEN 2014 HONDA ACCORD AS A LOANER VEHICLE FOR THE PERIOD MY CAR WAS GETTING FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS FOR 3 DAYS. HOWEVER, ON JAN 6TH 2015, WE HAD SNOW IN OUR AREA AND THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS BELOW FREEZING. I HAD THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE AND WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK ON JAN 7TH, I HAD BACKED OUT THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE AND WHEN I TURNED ON TO OUR STREET, I HAD NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL A BIT STIFF. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SNOW ON THE GROUND THAT HAD MADE IT LITTLE DIFFICULT TO TURN. AS I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE ON OUR STREET AT SPEED LESS THAN 10 MPH, I CAME TO THE FIRST TURN THAT I MAKE TO GET TO THE STREET LEADING UP TO THE MAIN STREET. AS I TRIED TO MAKE THE RIGHT TURN, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND DUE TO SNOW IT STARTED SKIDDING TO MY LEFT. AT SPEED OF LESS THAN 15 MPH AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, THE VEHICLE SKID TO THE LEFT PAVEMENT. IT CAUSED MINOR SCRATCHES ON THE FRONT LEFT RIM AND CAUSED THE ALIGNMENT TO BE OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS A LOANER VEHICLE AND DEALERSHIP PROCEEDED WITH GETTING 'FRONT SUSPENSION' AND 'STEERING GEAR & LINKAGE' REPLACED THROUGH MY INSURANCE. IT COST ME $750 AS DEDUCTIBLE COST THAT I'VE PAID TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON RESEARCHING THIS EVENT FURTHER ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT SIMILAR COMPLAINT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR 2013 (MY LOANER VEHICLE IS 2014 MODEL) HONDA ACCORDS THAT HAD SURFACED IN NOV 2014 (HTTP://WWW-ODI.NHTSA.DOT.GOV/ACMS/CS/JAXRS/DOWNLOAD/DOC/UCM466318/INOA-PE14033-1232.PDF). I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE WITH 2013 HONDA ACCORDS HAS/WILL-BE CONTINUED WITH 2014 HONDA ACCORDS AS THE SYMPTOMS I HAD OBSERVED WERE SIMILAR TO THOSE 2013 HONDA ACCORD. *TR

AS I WAS CHANGING LANE AT AROUND 45 MPH ON A SLIGHTLY BENDING RAMP (ARTHURSBURG RD) TO A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY (TACONIC STATE PARKWAY SOUTH BOUND, NEW YORK), MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS JERKED TO THE LEFT/RIGHT FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS. MY VEHICLE RAN FROM THE RAMP LANE TO THE SIDE OF THE INNER LANE. I WAS TRYING TO STEER AWAY FROM THE INNER LANE TO AVOID A CLASH WITH A MOVING SUV IN THE INNER LANE, BUT THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. INITIALLY, IT SEEMS THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK EITHER. AT THE FINAL MOMENT, I PRESSED THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD TO AVOID A CLASH WITH THE SUV IN INNER LANE. MY CAR STOPPED. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT ANY VEHICLE AT OUTER LANE. ALL CARS BEHIND ME NOTICED THE SITUATION AND STOPPED. OTHERWISE, A MAJOR ACCIDENT WOULD OCCUR. *TR

THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THAT I HAVE BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. I FINALLY GOT MY CAR INSPECTED A THIRD TIME AFTER CONTACTING HONDA CORPORATE. THE STEERING WHEEL HAD TO BE RESET. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STILL DOES NOT DRIVE STRAIGHT. AFTER AN ALIGNMENT AND THE STEERING WHEEL RESET, THE VEHICLE STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE AND THEY ARE REALLY USELESS. THEIR MOTTO "HELPFUL HONDA" IS THE BIGGEST LOAD HOT AIR EVER. THEY ARE HAVING SOMEONE FROM HONDA CORPORATE COME TO INSPECT THE CAR NOW. BUT THEY REFUSE TO WORK WITH ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME FOR IT TO BE BROUGHT FOR SERVICE. THE CAR IS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD AND HAS 7000 MILES. ALL HONDA HAD TO SAY WAS TO CONTACT A THIRD PARTY. HEPLFUL, WAS NOTHING CLOSE TO THE SERVICE AND TREATMENT I RECEIVED FROM HONDA SO FAR. *TR
AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS OF DRIVING MY NEW 2014 HONDA, I FELT THE CAR SWAYING AND PULLING TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO KEEP THE CAR DRIVING STRAIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE INSPECTED IN AUGUST BECAUSE THE PULLING BECAME VERY SEVERE EVEN WHEN DRIVING 30MPH I COULD FEEL IT. THEY SAID THE ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND READJUSTED THE ALIGNMENT. THE CAR DROVE MUCH BETTER. A MONTH LATER NOW I FEEL THE CAR START TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AGAIN. NOT AS BAD AS BEFORE BUT STILL NOTICEABLE. I TRIED TO TAKE IT IN AND THE DEALERSHIP DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK AND SAID IT WAS FINE. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN IT TO THEM BUT THEY SAID ITS FROM THE CROWN IN THE ROAD. NONE OF MY OTHER CARS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACT HONDA CORPORATE AND WAITING TO BE CONTACTED. I HAD TO GO INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND REQUEST THE SERVICE DIRECTOR BECAUSE I FELT THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND WAS NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUS. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS, I REALIZED THAT THE STEERING WAS PULLING THE CAR TO THE LEFT, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT WOULD TAKE LEFT CURVES IN THE ROAD UNASSISTED BY ME. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, THEY GAVE IT A FEW ALIGNMENTS, AND SINCE THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, THEY DENY THAT THERE IS ANY PROBLEM AT ALL. THE CAR IS DEFINITELY A LEMON, AND I AM WONDERING IF OTHER 2014 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AS I MUST BE CONSTANTLY VIGILANT OR THE CAR WILL GO OFF THE ROAD TO THE LEFT. I AM TRYING TO GET SOME JUSTICE THROUGH THE NY LEMON LAW BECAUSE HONDA HA TAKEN MY MONEY AND DELIVERED TO ME A DEFECTIVE, DANGEROUS CAR. *TR

CAR IS PULLING TO THE LEFT AT MODERATE TO HIGH SPEEDS AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY BECAUSE I TRAVEL 90% HIGHWAY AND IT'S NOT A SAFE SITUATION. THE CAR IS A 2014 ACCORD EX-L 4 WITH ONLY 1160 MILES. I'M BEGINNING TO SUSPECT THE GOODYEAR TIRES THAT CAME WITH IT AS I DROVE THE V6 VERSION WHICH COMES WITH MICHELINS AND I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY PULLING. I ALSO DROVE ANOTHER NEW EX-L 4 CYL WITH GOODYEAR TIRES AND IT PULLED JUST LIKE MINE DOES. IT'S NOT PULLING BECAUSE OF THE CROWN IN THE ROAD. I'VE BEEN DRIVING CARS FOR 20 YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. BEEN TO SHOP UNDER WARRANTY THREE TIMES. 1) ADJUSTED TIRE PRESSURE 2) FULL ALIGNMENT 3) FRESH SET OF GOODYEAR FUEL MAX TIRES. I DON'T THINK THESE ARE GOOD TIRES BUT THEY ARE OEM. *JS

THE ABOVE REFERENCED VEHICLE HAS A LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING. DURING DAYS OF SEVERE COLD (0 DEGREES OR BELOW), THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES EXTREMELY SLICK AND SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO FIRMLY GRIP WITHOUT GLOVES. THERE WERE A FEW OCCASIONS WHEN I WAS MODERATELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *JS
