Power steering TPM S and traction control lights are coming on after putting in a new battery. This is a recall for 2013 to 2017 Honda Accord sport with CVT transmission and for some reason, my car is not part of the batch, even though it is experiencing this issue. I am assuming the issue is the battery management

This component is responsible for controlling the stability and traction of the vehicle. The faulty part is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The failure of the VSA modulator compromised the vehicle’s ability to maintain stability during braking and cornering, especially in wet or slippery conditions. This increased the risk of losing control of the vehicle, potentially endangering myself, passengers, and others on the road. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue has been diagnosed and confirmed by a certified service center. They identified the VSA modulator as the faulty component requiring replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by a certified service center, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, warning lights related to the VSA and ABS systems appeared on the dashboard. These indicators first came on approximately 4 months ago when I was going through an automatic car wash, signaling a malfunction in the stability control system.
2014 Honda accord, about 70,000 miles. Original owner. We had all the dashboard lights come on. VSA Modulator. Local Honda Dealer found the following. TECH FOUND CODES 123-11 VSASOLENOID VALVE MALFUNCTION AND Request Sub-total U0416-68 VSA BRAKE ACTUATOR MALFUNCTION. THE 2 CODES CONFIRM THAT THE FAILURE IS THE VSA MODULATOR. A NEW MODULATOR. PART# IS 04571-T2G-L01. INSTALLED IS $3344.86 Contacted a local auto repair show that deals with Hondas. This seems to be a common issue, poor design of the circuit board. Thin wires to the wiring harness. There are 3rd party business that can repair the boards, so know issue. would be interesting to get info from them. I brought my 2014 Honda Accord to an authorized Honda dealership to have the CV axle recall completed. The dealership informed me that they would not perform the recall unless I paid out of pocket for “stripped/over-tightened bolts” that must be removed in order to complete the recall. Since this is a federal safety recall, I understand the law requires the manufacturer and dealer to complete the recall at no charge, including all labor and parts necessary to carry out the repair. By refusing to perform the recall unless I pay, the dealer is preventing me from receiving a federally mandated safety repair. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and ensure Honda/dealership complies with recall obligations.

The ABS modulator assembly has a Yaw Rate Sensor (Code 81-19) internal circuit malfunction that affects the anti-lock braking system. The ABS uses pressure from the ABS pump to pulse each wheel's brakes individually if the vehicle slides or skids when braking. This part needs to function properly in slick and icy conditions for safe braking distance, etc. It seems that this part has failed in other countries on a routine basis and is becoming a problem for different Honda models and years. The failure of this component is also not consistent with mileage factors (meaning it fails at low, intermediate, and high mileage). I believe there should be a recall for this issue.
I have a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L with not even 62,000 miles. When we purchased the car we got the extended warranty, thinking Honda would stand by their product. Not true. After the first month we had to have the battery replaced. Fast forward a few years and we were told we needed a new battery”wire harness” at a cost of over $2,000. Now it is 2025 and the backup camera only works when the turn signal is used; it remains a black screen when put into reverse. Add to that what is apparently a major problem with other Honda owners. When we go to start the car, we get nothing. The CAR DOESN’T START. Thinking that the key fob needed a battery, we replaced them with new batteries. It continues to be a problem. I have a fear I will be out one day and it will not start completely. I see that I am not the only person complaining of this and feel that Honda should issue a recall for the Accord addressing this problem. I feel that I may become stranded one day and this seems to be a SAFETY ISSUE.
About a year ago, I was driving my car on the highway and it jerked and started smoking. At that same time, my forward collision warning came on. After doing a quick google search, I found I was not the only one with this issue. Honda Dealership told me I needed a new VSA modulator that cost thousands of dollars. I finally was able to get it fixed, and now (today 5/11/25) less than a few months after getting a new VSA modulator, the same thing happened. This needs to be an official recall. It is a safety hazard.
Was driving to work on April 11,2025. Engine stopped working after stopping at red light, all lights on dash came on-causing me to have to push the car from a main road into a business in order to not impede traffic or get hit. Had to have it towed to a body shop. Waiting to see what is wrong with the car, will update with more information as I have it.

I'm trying to file a complaint about the 2014 Honda accord having a defective starter!! My starter went out on my car today and apparently it's very common problem on my year of Honda accord! Why hasn't Honda issued a recall on their starters for the 2014 Honda accords???? My neighbor is a licensed mobile mechanic and just confirmed that yes my starter is bad and I will need a new one! I don't have any documentation to upload because he did not charge me since we are next door neighbors! I definitely have decided that I won't be wasting my money buying a genuine Honda accord starter and will go with a aftermarket one because after reading reviews and stuff I am worried that I will be wasting my money on a obviously very problematic auto part and nobody had anything good to say about the starter for my year make model of car !! If I am not in the right section on this website that I should be 2 file a complaint about my starter then please let me know where I need 2 go to file it so hopefully Honda will finally fix the problem and recall the starter that is defective! Push/Start button has intermittent episodes of not starting the vehicle. Throughout all of Honda's models, this is a wide spread and known entity. The manufacturer has had recalls up to a certain date for this problem. Now they claim ignorance for this known malfunctioning part. I presume to save money and have consumers pay hundreds of dollars for a known but denied by Honda.... problem !!!
part 66988 was diagnosed and confirmed starter motor not engaging replaced starter motor and verified repairs for 1062.11 dollars. I was stranded multiple times with the car not starting, as this problem was intermittent. we have a number of hondas, the starter never failed. I looked at your web site and there were many complaints about this problem. I contacted honda customer service and they refused to acknowledge that this is a known problem, and not subject to recall. I want to call your attention that many honda customers have lodged complaintes and a recall notice should be considered. thank you
This was not a incident, I just want to report that for months now I have problems with the ignition it won't crank right away. I have got the ignition switch replaced and it is still doing it , it is a little better but not perfect. I know their are a lot of complains about this, Please submit a recall on this. Car has bad battery sensors. When checking the battery status, it always says the battery is in good condition but it is actually dead. The car also consistently puts out a code "P219A." Dealership suggest that fuel injectors are going bad but the fuel injectors shouldn't go bad this early.
Have replaced starter 2 times in 5 months, car would start sometimes, sometimes leaving me stranded. Replaced it in August of 2023, after purchasing from dealership in January 2023, driving 5k miles, then replaced it again today January 26 2024. I drove less than 1k miles since August! This time the starter made a loud whirling sound but started 3 days ago, yesterday it didn't it again and would not start at all, causing me to lose a days work thankful not stranded again. Took to mechanic and had 3rd starter put in today.
ABS Module failed and hence indicators for ABS, Electronic steering, stability assist, and tire low pressure have come on. On diagnosis with the dealer, it was told that the module has failed, and it has to be replaced. Such low-quality parts were not expected from Honda.
Honda has issued a service bulletin for a known issue with the starter on my 2014 Honda Accord V6. I have been in several situations with my children where my car would not start for 2-3 hours. This is very much a safety concern in a Michigan winter! The repair to this costs ~$750 and only needs to be done because of a manufacturing error.
Failed VSA Module. Affects the ABS and connected systems. Safety risks: reduced safety due to skidding, reduced steering control during braking, accelerated tire wear, tire deformation, increased breaking distance, wrong brake force distribution, error codes on dash, and decreased function of other systems that rely on ABS. Honda dealer confirmed the issue and said this was very common in accords around the same year. Error codes on dash that appeared were traction control, ABS, power steering, and E-brake.
My dashboard is lit up with lights .. Abs,break vehicle skid control, and steering wheel .I need a new abs control module I am told I have 178,000 The breaks are new, but now making a funny nose. Including shaking and vibrating and squeeking in my driver side wheel. The driver wheel makes a clunking noise only when the lights turn on. And breaks seem to be acting weird.. when lights come on my steering wheel also makes weird noise when turning.
There was a sudden loss of all control of the vehicle for a few seconds, i.e., no steering/braking etc. and swerved; it could have easily caused an accident if there were any cars in the next lane. When control came back, pulled to a left turning lane and stopped. After a couple minutes, started driving again slowly and with fear. There were/are no warning lamps/messages/symbols prior to or after this happened.
Starter replacement. This is the 2nd time we are having to replace the starter and vehicle has 85,000 miles.
Car Dashboard is showing failure of ABS, FCW, LDW related to the ABS Modulator according Honda dealership diagnostics. This issue seems to be related to this generation of honda accords as per other reports on forums and discussions. It impacts the braking of the vechicle as well as advanced safety features that are relied on. I have take the car to be checked out by a honda dealership and it was identified as an issue with the ABS modulator.
1. Starting System I have had trouble starting with the push button for about 3 weeks. It sometimes would take several tries before turning over. Most times, it would start in 1 – 2 attempts. It was worse this last week. I had to try more often, especially on Thursday night. I did not drive at all on Friday. On Saturday 7/1/23, I drove to the pharmacy less than < 1 mile. it did not start after dozens of tries after shopping. I walked home. Later, I had other errands taking our Odyssey. Back at the parking lot, I tried again dozens of times and it would not start. I tried moving the gears from park to neutral, trying to start it and going back again. I called AAA for a tow and called service department to let you know of the issue and the towing to the dealership. I had noticed that when pressing down on the brake pedal, the car started most often when the pedal went down easily. It would usually not start with the pedal being very stiff. 2. Warning Lights on dashboard On Thursday 6/30/23, the warning lights on the dashboard all lit up and stayed lit. The odometer message was FCW failed. I had this problem before which should be in the service history of the vehicle. That problem occurred in August, 2019 and beyond. The throttle assembly was ultimately replaced, and it worked fine after that until now. I had been advised by one of the service representatives to use Shell or Costco gas. I have done that for over 90% of the fill-ups. In the past, the system would reset itself. But several times, the car went into “Creep Mode” when the errors occurred. Once while crossing the border into Niagra Falls, Canada and on I-90 in rush hour traffic. 3.Stalling I have had several cases when the car stalled when idling at stop lights, in stop and go traffic or in reverse. I was nearly a hood ornament for an 18-wheeler in Columbia, SC in April. It stalled and took several attempts to start.

Appears related to a firmware update provided under another recall (Bulletin 15-055:6ZS00EPS Software Update). It is suspected due to timing of incident onset, beginning the day after service. Firmware was installed by dealership service dept. It is unknown at this time all of the buttons affected. Since buttons on steering wheel are affected, and cruise control is also located there, this could pose a severe hazard if cruise control does not respond to a disable request. Cell Phone, radio, display change functions do not work from dashboard. There was a follow up software update (on same EPS system) performed by dealership on June 30, 2020 that improved condition for one day, returning to same issues on the 2nd drive. Car does not start on the first attempt. Starter does not crank. It makes a click sound. Need to try upto 5 times until it cranks and starts the engine. Took the car to a mechanic and diagnosed a bad starter that needs replacement. I'm disappointed that the starter failed at only 58000 miles.
For more than a year, my car has been having issues starting up. It rarely starts on the first attempt. It usually starts on the second attempt. A strange thing occurred while I was dropping my grandchildren to school on 3/30/22 at 8:45 AM. After dropping off the kids, as I started the car in the car drop off lane, there was no acceleration despite me hitting the accelerator, the car would not accelerate, and cars exiting the school parking lot backed up behind my car. Suddenly, the car accelerated in an uncontrolled manner on its own, brakes did not work, and all warning lights on the side of the dashboard came on. I steered the car towards an empty area and was ready to crash it into an obstacle to bring it to a stop. I tried to put the car in park but despite putting it in park, the car continued its acceleration forward. I also tried to turn off the car by hitting the start/stop button but the car would not turn off. The car accelerated uncontrollably for at least 0.3 miles. After this uncontrolled and automatic acceleration, the car came to a stop. I had the car towed to the Honda dealership. Honda dealership advisor told me that there was no recall on this model. However, a quick search on car message boards shows that this phenomenon of sudden and uncontrolled acceleration has been reported on 2014, and 2015 and 2016 Honda Accord model year cars as well. Fortunately, no children or their parents in the school were injured this time. I hope you will direct the Honda dealership to identify and fix the problem. I am afraid to drive the car without understanding the reason for this frightening experience. I am having starter issues with my vehicle. I have taken great care of this vehicle and started having issues with the car last year. I replaced the starter because it would not start back, if I turned the car off while running errands ( shopping or filling up with gas). I have now replaced the starter 3 times, and replaced the ignition switch and batteries. I have run every possible diagnostic at the dealership and at local mechanics in my city. I am concerned that I am reading that many drivers across the USA are facing this issue and the dealership cannot fix it or the local repair shops.
After a minor accident, once turned off, the car would not restart for about 20 minutes. All dash lights flicker and there is a clicking sound. Insurance company will not cover assessment or any repair as they say it cannot be linked to the loss, even though I never had issues with this prior to the accident and it was reported in my accident claim. No issues show on a diagnostic test, but I continue to experience issues with the start button connection. I can hold the brake and press the start button but either have to hold it for 20 - 30 seconds while it clicks or goes dim (while you can hear things trying to happen in the engine), or the brake/start button must be applied multiple times to get it to start. I also think that power is beginning to flicker during driving and now I'm really afraid. I have 105,000 miles.

I will turn the key and the engine will not crank over, sometimes it will start up 30 seconds or a minute later after I attempt a couple of times. ON OCTOBER 31, THE AXLE ON MY CARE SNAPPED IN HALF. I WAS IN A SHOPPING CENTER AREA, TRYING TO MAKE A TURN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. I LEARNED THAT THE AXLE WAS BROKEN WHEN I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED IN THE AMOUNT OF $312.49. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A FREAK INCIDENT AND THAT IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE AXLE BECAUSE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN IN THAT MANNER. I WANT HONDA TO REIMBURSE FOR THE COST TO REPAIR. THERE IS NO WAY THAT MY STARTER SHOULD HAVE FAILED SO SOON.
A FEW WEEKS AGO, OUR 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX, WOULD NOT CONSISTENTLY START. I TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT AUTO-SHOPS, INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST AUTO SHOP COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY SAID THEY STARTED THE CAR ~100 TIMES AND THE CAR STARTED EVERY TIME. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE STARTER. I REPLACED THE STARTER AND THE CAR STARTED UP FINE. A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER FIXING THE CAR, THE CAR DID NOT START. THE BATTERY WAS TESTED AND IS OKAY. OUR CAR WAS TOWED TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE STARTER WAS FINE AND THAT HE SUSPECTS THE ORIGINAL DID NOT NEED REPLACEMENT. HE SAID THERE'S SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUE, BUT COULD NOT FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHERE THE ISSUE IS. HE SAID IT MUST BE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND STARTER. OUR LEAVING THE CAR WITH HIM SO THAT HE CAN HAVE OTHER TECHNICIANS INSPECT IT.

FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. 2) TIMING BELT TENSIONER LEAKED FLUID, FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. 3) DEALER DIAGNOSED ABS MODULE FAULT. AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE. CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED EVERY OTHER ELECTRONIC SAFETY SYSTEM IN THE CAR TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. OPENED A CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHO DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. THESE UNITS FAIL RARELY AND SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PART (36,000 MILE 3-YR WARRANTY) WAS EVEN BACK ORDERED FROM THE MANUFACTURER. FOR EXAMPLE, ONLY 1 UNIT WAS REPLACED IN ATLANTA, GA SINCE 2014, THEY WANTED ALMOST $1,600 TO FIX THE ISSUE. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SPECIALIST WHO FIXED IT FOR UNDER $600 BY FINDING A USED PART. I THINK HONDA SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ACCOMMODATING AND CONCERNED. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED THE ABS, LDW, FCW, AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS TO EVENTUALLY FAIL. LITERALLY, I WAS LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T GET IN A BAD ACCIDENT AS THE ABS WAS ACTUALLY FUNCTIONING (THE DAY A CAR TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME) AND SAVED ME FROM SKIDDING INTO AND T-BONING ANOTHER CAR. I RECENTLY CAME UPON AN ARTICLE ABOUT 2014 HONDA'S THAT WOULD OVER HEAT AND YOU WOULD LOSE POWER CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. BUT, I FELT BEFORE MY WARRANTY EXPIRES AROUND 36 K MILES, I CALLED IN HONDA FOR APPOINTMENT SEP 2017. TODAY, WHEN I DROPPED MY CAR, HONDA SERVICE GUYS CALLED ME AND SAID, I OWN RESPONSIBILITY IN CHANGING MY TIRES WHICH HAS WEAR AND TEAR COVER TILL 60 K MILES AND I SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE BRAKES AT REAR END, FLUIDS, ETC ETC.. AFTER ARGUING WITH THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS IN FACT A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM, AND I NOR MY SON FELT SAFE IN THE VEHICLE, DID THEY AGREE TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK, IF I WAS WILLING TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THEM.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO LA DRIVING MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX, SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 5. AFTER ABOUT 3 HOURS OF DRIVING, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL, CRUISE CONTROL ON GOING ABOUT 72 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY VEERED TO THE LEFT. I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN WITH THE BRAKE AND FOUGHT WITH THE CAR TRYING TO GET IT TO GO STRAIGHT HOWEVER THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL. I TRIED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO STOP THE CAR FROM GOING TO THE LEFT HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD NOT COOPERATE AND WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD, BOTH LANES. IT CONTINUED TO SWERVE LEFT INTO THE RIGHT LANE CAUSING IT TO SPIN BACKWARDS OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DIRT. I STILL WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR AS IT CONTINUED THEN ROLLED OVER. I WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND TRAPPED IN MY CAR. MY FEET WERE UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY BODY WAS LENGTHWISE ACROSS THE PASSENGER SEAT....MY SEAT BELT STILL ON. I UNBUCKLED AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHICH I COULD NOT OPEN. MY CELL PHONE WAS ON A CHARGER AND WAS STILL WITHIN REACH SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 (9:35AM) AND TOLD DISPATCH I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND ANOTHER MOTORIST HAD ALREADY CALLED IT IN. THE CHP OFFICER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE DOOR OPEN. I HAD A TOWEL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT WHICH WAS NOW UNDER ME SO I HANDED IT TO HIM TO LAY OVER THE GLASS, I WAS THEN ABLE TO CRAWL OUT OF MY CAR. MY HANDS WERE BLEEDING ESPECIALLY ONE SPOT ON MY LEFT HAND THAT WOULDN'T STOP SO THE OFFICER GOT OUT HIS EMERGENCY BAG AND HANDED ME GAUZE TO PUT ON MY HAND. EVENTUALLY THE BLEEDING STOPPED. THE CHP SAID HE HAS SEEN ACCIDENTS LIKE MINE AND THE OUTCOME WAS NOT GOOD. 2014 HONDA ACCORDS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES. COMPLAINTS STATE 'CAR PULLING TO THE LEFT'. WHILE DRIVING. WITHIN 5 MILES OF THE LOSS OF ACCESSORIES, A HARD SHORT OCCURRED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED WHEN THIS CONDITION OCCURRED DEALER REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY INDICATING THAT THE CONDITION WAS CAUSED BY AN OUTSIDE SOURCE (THE HANDICAP PLACARD). I APPEALED TO AMERICAN HONDA 7/13/16 AND THE SAME DECISION WAS UPHELD.

MY CAR HAS A LANE WATCH CAMERA THAT ENGAGES WHEN USING YOUR RIGHT BLINKER. WHEN MAKING AN OUTBOUND CALL, YOU SAY THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING AND THEN YOU RECEIVE A VERBAL NOTIFICATION "CALLING _____" IF BETWEEN THIS TIME AND THE TIME IT TAKES FOR THE SYSTEM TO INITIATE THE CALL AND DIAL TONE STARTS YOU HAVE TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, WHICH ENGAGES THE LANE WATCH CAMERA, THE CALL IS CANCELED. ONCE YOU'VE TURNED THE CORNER AND THE CAMERA HAS TURNED OFF, IT WILL AGAIN SAY "CALLING ____" HOWEVER IT DOES NOT PERFORM THE CALL AND JUST SITS ON THAT SCREEN. IF YOU LIVE IN A CITY WHERE FREQUENT TURNS ARE A NORMALITY, IF YOU'RE TRYING TO DO SO AND MAKE OUTBOUND CALLS IT'S VERY DIFFICULT AND DISTRACTING AS MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ARE OFTEN NEEDED TO MAKE THE CALL. I'VE SINCE TURNED OFF THE LANE WATCH CAMERA TO PREVENT IT FROM DISRUPTING OUTBOUND CALLS.

THE NEXT DAY, ONCE MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE DETERMINATION WAS CONFIRMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP. BUT, AS TO THIS DAY - I DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED. DO I HAVE A LEMON OR WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN? COULD THIS HAPPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING CAUSING A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT? AFTER ALL, THIS CAR ONLY HAD 18,571 MILES ON IT AND I BOUGHT IT NEW ON MARCH 9, 2014. AT THAT TIME THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE TRUNK LID THAT HAS BEEN FALLING DOWN SINCE I TOOK POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE IN JULY 2014. THE TRUNK LID FALLS AT WILL.

IF YOU HAPPEN TO FORGET TO PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT THE CAR OFF IN DRIVE WHEN YOU GET OUT, THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL AWAY. ANY OTHER PUSH BUTTON START VEHICLE I HAVE USED WOULD NOT ALLOW YOU TO SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN UNTIL IT WAS PLACED IN PARK. ROLL AWAY ISSUES SHOULD AND COULD BE EASILY FIXED.
