Out of no where - the speakers start blaring this loud scrambled sound. (Like a dead channel on TV.) Even when the radio is off. The speakers roar so load you can not concentrate to drive. No warning, just happens. I can go days/weeks without it happening, then boom - scare me so bad when it comes on out of no where. There is no rhyme or reason to when it will happen - could be driving slow or fast, could be hot or cold outside. Could be soon as you start the car or in the middle of driving after an hour. Thought it was a fluke but here were are - 2 months later and it's happened at least 5 times.

The car speakers and microphones unexpectedly emit deafening loud static sounds that continues while driving. Powering audio system OFF makes no difference. The static is at least 90 decibels. It's frightening and impedes safe driving. Cale YARBOROUGH'S HONDA DEALERSHIP is witness to the defect and determine that the "head unit" must be replaced. The head unit integrates the audio, Bluetooth, GPS and backup & blind spot camera functions. The dealership has ordered a replacement head unit but it is on backorder indefinitely! There have been many other reports of this problem with this equipment. Please help me get my car safe again. American Honda has been aware of the problem but ineffective in its response.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the battery warning light and other unknown warning lights temporarily illuminated, and the vehicle almost shut off. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving on two other occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle shut off. The contact stated that upon jumpstarting the vehicle, the vehicle shut off again after disconnecting the jumper cables. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that upon turning off the vehicle and removing the key from the ignition, the instrument cluster lights flickered for an extended period. The contact ordered an alternator from Amazon and replaced the alternator; however, the failure persisted. The contact's husband purchased the alternator from Auto Zone and replaced the alternator, and the vehicle operated as intended temporarily. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V418000 (Electrical System), which the contact related to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 193,986.

Stereo/speaker system has a very loud static noise every time I drive the car. It happens the most when the car has been sitting in the sun. The static sound is so unbearable while I’m driving. I have to pull over to shut the car off. I turn the audio button off on the stereo but the speakers still have the loud static noise.

Nov 21, 2025

When the car reaches operating temperature slowly a static noise will creep over the speakers and then quickly cut out the audio input and put the speakers to full volume with waves of loud static. Turning off the stereo and turning down the volume does nothing to stop the static. The only way to stop it is to pull the radio fuse. This will also happen on a hot day and not slowly build just suddenly loud static as soon as the car turns on. This is a safety risk because the sound is so loud and distracting it’s hard to focus on everything going on around you and in order to pull the fuse out to stop it you need to pull over and it’s not always in a safe location. When I called and asked the Honda dealership in Stockton CA about it they were familiar with the problem when I described it to them but it has not been replicated in my car specifically by a separate party. No inspection was performed by police or other. There were no lights or warning when it first occurred. The problem first occurred in June when the weather started to get hot. I tried installing the fuse again now that it’s cold and it happened again once the car got to operating temperature.

The stereo amplifier emits a god awful, deafening static noise soon after start my car, so I can't listen to the radio, hear or talk to anyone. This has been going on for months and hasn't let up. It's very expensive for the honda dealer to fix, that I cannot afford right now, because they have to install a near stereo unit. Right now, I drive around with ear plugs and this should be considered a safety issue because I can't hear while the ear piercing static noise is on at the highest volume (there's no way to turn it down...even with the stereo off). I've owned lots of older model cars and none have ever had this issue with the stereo amplifier, so I feel this is a manufacturing defect for it to fail after 10 years. I've researched this issue online and I'm not the only one complaining about this for the 2016 Honda accord.

On our 2016 Accord with the 3.5 V6 there is a design issue with the starter assembly. This issue is also happening with other models with this engine configuration manufactured between 2013 through 2017. The starter on my vehicle won’t engage the flywheel gears fully causing damage to the flywheel and the starter. There is a Honda service bulletin ( 16-002) calling to replace the starter and rotate the torque converter clockwise one bolt hole position. This can only be done ONE TIME so if it happens again( and it probably will)the torque converter will need to be replaced which is a minimum of $4,000 and even that won’t guarantee it won’t repeat this issue. This is a safety issue because there is a possibility that you could be stranded and vulnerable to hazards on the road .

Nov 12, 2025

I am reporting an ongoing issue with my 2016 Honda Accord Touring V6 caused by a misdiagnosis at Honda of the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL. In December 2024, they diagnosed my oil leak as a valve cover gasket issue and charged me for the repair, but the leak never stopped. I returned multiple times and was told “everything is fine,” even though oil was clearly visible. Because the real issue was never fixed, oil eventually dripped onto my alternator and caused it to fail while I was driving on the highway. My car stalled in traffic, creating a dangerous situation. I had to replace the alternator at Lucas Honda out of pocket. As of November 2025, the leak continues, and I discovered the true source is the top front solenoid, not the valve cover gasket they insisted on. This misdiagnosis, continued leak, I hear other people on facebook Honda Accord 9 generation that are having similar Issues with Oil Leaks and Honda Refuses to acknowledge theses issues.

Gear shift ignition and parts of buttons come on and off. Gear shift lights not at all anymore. The entire tire warped from around tire like it been detached from car and fell outward. I’ve had multiple fuel issues two brand new catalytic converters fuel pump and system cleaned put on filters changed and still have issues.

When driving, occasionally, there is a strong buildup of static coming off the speakers, the problem persists for a long time and seems to calm down if the Radio is turned to full volume. It happens at random after driving for a few minutes, if the A/C is on it can get worse, I think it could be a faulty wiring issue from wear and tear or a frequency change that everyone with a 16’ Accord has as i’ve seen on videos.

Oct 3, 2025

When driving the 2016 honda accord ex-l, after driven for around 10-20 minutes, a static starts playing on the speaker starting small and gets progessively louder (even when the audio system is turned off, if audio system is on and volume is adjusted, it gets even worse) until you cannot hear anything else other than the loud static. You cannot hear anything said in the car by your fellow passengers, kids get scared with the loud noise. The only thing that works is a restart of the engine which can only be done by pulling over to a shoulder or another unsafe area of the road putting everyone in the car and other nearby cars at dangerous risk. The static noise is so loud, it completely takes over all of your driver senses and you'll be like a deer staring into headlights unable to do anything. In a recent incident, we (family including kid) were going in the left-most lane of a CA freeway when this started and in the ensuing 2 minutes I had to move over 3 lanes into the number 1 lane and stop at an unsafe curb near an exit in the evening and restart the car and go back home. This is traumatic everytime it happens and we have to plan for it. There are several people with the same issue complaining on social media (reddit/youtube) and they have evidence for the same in video format. 500+ posts and going [XXX] . Upon calling my usual service center, they did mention they saw similar problem recently, but it is not part of a recall and quoted me 250$ for diganosis and upwards of 1900$ for replacing the audio unit. My audio unit worked fine for 10 years, and I do no think this is an individual issue but a widespread one that triggers in this specific model of the vehicle. There were no warnings prior to this, started appearing around [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Deafening static was coming from all the speakers in the car. I turned the radio/navigation system off and there was still static coming from the speakers. This happens after the car is warmed up and it is not drivable.

interference; and importantly, that the problem occurs only when the outside temperature is excessively hot. Due to the specific conditions required to trigger the interference, the static noise is impossible to replicate on command, rendering troubleshooting efforts prohibitively costly and unlikely to bear fruit. For reference, there are videos of the problem online with search terms "Honda Accord static noise".

I purchased this car in winter, summertime comes around and it’s very hot in the car. I turn my car on and it connects to my phone. Ear piercing static comes through the radio. I’ve tried to buy sunshades, sit with my air on to cool the car down, and also pull over, turn the car off and on. It does not stop still. My car usually stops 20 minutes into driving. Then will start again. It is very scary and has startled me while driving. This is distracting and these cars are too expensive for this issue to not be resolved. I don’t even like to drive my car because even when it is not blaring hot, it still does it. I can’t go through a drive thru or roll my windows down or even listen to music in this car! It is unbearable and ridiculous that this is not resolved. I have not gotten quoted on a price to fix it but I’ve done some research and have seen people pay $700-$1000 to get it fixed. I wish I would’ve done more research on issues because I would have never bought this car. Please look into this and everyone else’s complaints and start a recall! I can’t even hear myself think while driving let alone hear anything else around me!!

The Infotainment system crashes when using Apple Carplay. This is troublesome because the navigation seizes and does not give you any information to where you're going. The screen turns dark until you either restart the car or unplug and replug the phone which is DANGEROUS to do while driving the car. However when I use Apple Carplay on my wife's 2017 CR-V, same phone same car manufacturer, different model and year but there are no infortainment system crashes. Clearly this points to the software operating system running the infortainment system, on forums people reference that version is too old and crashes. Please help; driving this car as is, becomes dangerous and risky. Please apply pressure to Honda to fix this problem before someone dies. I'm the original owner of this car.

I am writing to bring urgent attention to a significant and concerning issue affecting the 2016 Honda Accord, specifically the audio head unit, which is causing severe static noise through the vehicle's speakers. This issue poses a serious safety risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the road, and I believe it warrants immediate action, including a formal recall. The static noise occurs regardless of whether the audio system is on or off. This interference compromises the ability to clearly hear essential sounds while driving, including emergency vehicle sirens, honking, and other important auditory cues that are vital for safe driving. The loud, distracting static significantly reduces the ability to focus on the road and may cause delayed responses to critical situations, including traffic accidents, pedestrian crossings, and other road hazards. Safety concerns include but are not limited to the following: inability to hear emergency alerts such as sirens and horns which could result in delayed or incorrect reactions when an ambulance, fire truck, or police vehicle is approaching, potentially leading to dangerous situations where first responders are unable to get through traffic quickly or safely, distracted driving, reducing ability to focus on the driving task, and ability to hear other critical sounds, such as tire issues (like a flat or blowout), or the sound of other cars around you, and can medically affect hearing of drivers. Given the severity of these issues, I urge an investigation to this matter thoroughly and issue a recall for the affected 2016 Honda Accord models and other year models that are affected. This would ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and others on the road. Addressing this problem promptly will not only safeguard lives but also demonstrate a commitment to consumer safety and quality. I appreciate your attention to this urgent matter and trust that the necessary steps will be taken to resolve it as soon as possible.

I have been having issues with my Honda Accord with the electrical system. Over the past couple of years I have had to take my car to get serviced for the battery, alternator and other electrical issues. Several times I had to take my car to get checked because the ABS, power steering, traction control and brake lights intermittently light up at the same time. I was told it was a battery issue but now years later I am being told it is the VSA modulator. I am frustrated because the Honda dealership i have taken it to has failed to identify this issue when it has been repeatedly occurring and now that my warranty is expired now it is being explained that I have to fix this out of my pocket.

Aug 21, 2025

My Honda radio has started making ear piercing sounds. Even if you turn the radio off it still emits high frequency very loud sounds. It is extremely distracting! It will not go away unless you find somewhere to pull over and turn the car off. It is now happening every time I turn the car on.

Aug 9, 2025

ABS lights on, break lights on, steering light on with traction control on while driving, use a scanner and shows code 121-11 VSA solenoid malfunction, I fear of losing my brakes while driving. I have seen that’s a common issue in different forums, something to be worried about.

Jul 24, 2025

The vehicle head unit is emitting a loud static sound just minutes after the vehicle is turned on. Sound only stops when vehicle is turned off. I purchased this vehicle because of the stereo system and since this problem started I am not able to hear my music, either from Bluetooth FM radio any source. I drive uber to make a living and this prevents me from working because the noise is deafening causing pain to my passengers. I have looked online and it’s a lot of people complaining on this issue with no way out. When we visit Honda we have to pay the diagnostic fee for them to tell us the issue is the stereo and need to be changed for over $1000 which is unfair for them to charge us for a defective unit which is happening to their vehicles. I am putting this complaint in because someone should be able to hold them accountable for their clients especially spending $40,000+ for the upgraded version for the amazing head unit and now not being able to utilize the unit.

The speakers make sudden static noise randomly. Whether the radio is on/off or if the car is idle loud static will occur. It is extremely unpleasant and could cause a crash due to how loud and sudden and disorienting it is. Other service centers are unsure what is the cause. Have changed the radio, amp, alternator, and battery to no avail.

Jul 18, 2025

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal static sound coming from the speakers. The contact was concerned that the noise would become hazardous with the contact unable to hear various traffic sounds and alarms while driving the vehicle. A dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.

Jul 15, 2025

Our 2016 Accord Sedan EX-L suddenly in the past month has started having the issue with a very loud static noise emitting from all of the vehicle speakers shortly after starting up, and will not stop until the vehicle is turned off. The two displays seem slow to turn back on after this occurs and this occurs more frequently when the outdoor temperature is 85+ degrees Fahrenheit. From a search online, this seems to be a common problem for the 2016-2017 Accords, and so this should definitely be addressed by NHTSA and the manufacturer. The noise is pretty alarming and distracting and will likely cause many accidents for owners with this same issue, please do something about this.

Jul 8, 2025

persistent loud static noise from the car's audio system. The noise is present even when the audio is off and is "explosively loud" and "disturbing." It is frustrating with Honda's lack of support.

Jul 7, 2025

Loud static noise coming from speakers when driving car. Noise starts low and gradually increases to the point is unbearable. Then radio doesn't work, if you change the source or radio station still static noise. Only way it stops is by shutting car off. Started happening about two weeks ago.

Radio LOUD STATIC!! Happens if Radio is on or off. Seems to happen most when it's hot outside with no warning. Radio static is so loud and sudden it almost caused an accident. Only way I have found to stop the static is to stop the car, turn ignition off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. Which is a bit dangerous for myself and other drivers.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, and while driving at various speeds, there was abnormal static coming from the radio. The contact stated that the static increased in volume while driving and the contact was unable to stop the sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that there was no fault found with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.

When driving for at least 15 minutes, with the radio powered off or on, noise starts to come from the car speakers and builds to a crescendo which surpasses 95 decibels (measured with phone app). The noise is so loud it hurts my ears and I need to pull over to get out of the car. The problem has been confirmed by other individuals, but not the dealer. I have yet to take it to the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem. The problem appeared two years after I purchased the vehicle in January of 2022. I do not know what causes it. I have researched similar events online and cannot find a fix.

The Radio emits static noise VERY Loud sometimes when the car is driven. It is so loud sometimes that my grandchild will scream and cry. Sometimes it is just a small static noise that doesn't get louder, but you never know. I have to stop and turn my car off and restart to try and get it to stop, sometimes it works other times it doesn't. This happens when the radio is off or on. And when you try and turn the radio off, it won't turn off periodically. It seems to happen more when someone is in the passenger seat, so I thought it might have something to do with the weight sensor, but no.. it also does it when you are by yourself. And it is happening almost every single time we get in the car. I have been looking this up and a lot of people say they just unplug the fuse for the radio, but I shouldn't have to do that. If there are this many people having the same issue, they should do a recall on it. The noise is so loud and sudden sometimes that it shocks you and could potentially make someone have a wreck. There have been no warning messages on the screen and this first happened a few months ago. I have not had it inspected by anyone yet. I can get a recording from the car the next time it does it and send it. It just the fact that you will be driving down the road not expecting it and it goes off full blast static noise which has almost made me crash several times. It's very startling.

Please note this is reported by tens of thousands of 2016-2017 Honda Accord. When the inside temperature is above a threshold, there is continuous high volume static and high pitched sound coming from all speakers. The head unit does not respond to any user interaction like switching off the radio system or volume control or anything. The high volume and high pitched static sound just continues. This poses a safety hazard because of the super loud noise inside the car and cannot hear anything from outside, plus it will cause deafness after prolonged high noise with high pitch and static. It causes distraction for the driver as well, particularly on highways. The only way to stop this sound is to stop the car, switch off the engine and wait for some time and start again. But still the high static sound may come anytime after , if the temperature is still warm or high. This is an issue with the Head Unit fan as reported by many. There is no warning and the high volume sound suddenly comes out from all speakers, startling the driver and passengers. This is a serious issue and will cause distraction and annoyance for drivers. There is no resolution from Honda for this and they are not even acknowledging this issue. Please consider this a safety risk for 2016-2017 Honda Accord. Please review the link below for comments from several people who got he same issue. [XXX] [XXX] Hope you will take this seriously and work with Honda to solve this for hundreds of thousands of car owners. Thank you for your support and appreciate any help! Radio head unit started making extremely loud static noise from speakers around 60k miles. Turning radio off does not stop static nor does turning volume down. Radio is still functional but no audio just loud static when car is cranked up and continues until car is turned off. The loud static is harmful to people ears because after a while your ears start to hurt so I’m sure the decimals are too loud for people’s ear. No warning lights are illuminated on dash for this problem. Independent service center mechanic said radio needed head unit to be replaced due to being faulty. Radio has not been inspected by manufacturer. There was no prior warnings or symptoms before this problem.

During days when the temperature is warm, meaning above 70F, or the car in in direct sunlight, the speakers will produce a very loud, uncontrollable, static sound. This happens whether the radio/audio is on or fully powered off or whether the volume is on or fully off. It's is so loud that earplugs are required until the car is able to cool off enough for it to die down.

The issues has been reported by many others about the very loud and distracting static noise from car radio . It makes it very to drive with such a loud noise . It is a honda issue that should really be addressed . It is a safety issue just like any other thing that can and would be wrong with the car . It is a piercing noise that would really just get under you're skin and and distract you from the road . Again , there have been numerous reports and complaints about the this issue with the vehicle with the piercing static noise .

The audio system in my car blares, often without notice, a loud static noise that makes my vehicle unsafe to drive. The only way to get the noise to turn off is to pull over and completely turn off the car, and sometimes that does not even work. This is a driving hazard and could also be damaging long-term to my hearing. I have contacted Honda who says they have no recalls associated with this issue, but there are NUMEROUS complaints from customers online.

Car is making loud static noise and other people are having the same exact problem. I called Honda they don’t know what’s wrong. This is so unsafe because wrecks can be cause do to this BIG ISSUE .

My 2016 Honda accord has a horrible static noise that happens randomly. The noise is deafening and cause a huge distraction while driving, not to mention you cannot hear any police or ambulance sirens approaching. The only fix is to pull over and try to restart your car and hope that the static noise isn't present upon restart. It is simply not safe to drive the vehicle while the issue is present

Very frequenly after idling for more that 5 minutes with the heat on before beginning to drive, the vehicle will create extremely loud and disorienting scratching static noise. This condition is recreated under a number of other conditions and is heavily reported and documented on various forms and youtube pages. Can be found by searching "2016 accord head unit static" This issue has been reported to honda and has not been recognized as a defect. They quote a repair cost to solve the issue with the defective head unit. The issues can only be stopped by pressing the power button on the head unit it self. Sometimes, frequent start and stops of the ignition can remedy the issue.

Feb 3, 2025

As I am driving my speakers (all of them) will randomly sound like static and its very loud and obnoxious. Its disturbing and can be a huge hazard while driving. I have looked it up and it seems tons of people are having the same issues in their 2016 and 2017 honda accords. Seeing how common it seems to be online in these cars i do not think its fair for us to have to pay for this issue…

Battery Management Sensor recall came out in 2017. My vehicle was taken in and they inspected it but did not change the part. In 2018 I took it in a they claim to have switched the sensor out. Fast forward to the years ahead, I have continued to have issues with my battery. I took my car in last week on Thursday. Turns out the battery management sensor is the culprit. Honda claims the recall no longer applies as this was a recall in 2017 and it had been repaired.

There has been a problem going on with my 2016 Honda Accord Touring and it’s unbelievably terrible it has something to do with the sound system in the car and it can’t be stopped even if you try to power off the Radio it still occurs and it’s an on going problem until the vehicle is powered off, basically it’s a static noise that comes through all speakers that starts off not too loud then it gets really loud! To where you can’t even hear the person in the passenger seat and it is so bad it can possibly cause hearing damage and also to mention you can’t hear any sirens of like an ambulance for instance it happened to me other day where an ambulance was behind me and I didn’t hear it because of the horrible static sound coming from the speakers I found out the ambulance was behind me because of the cars in front of me pulling over to the side of the road and also I have little cousins and I would to go on trips with them but it worries me I can hurt their ears and they might start to panic to how bad the sound is.

Jan 20, 2025

I have the same problem with my 2016 Honda accord. Loud Static noise is driving me nuts. I took mine to my local Honda dealer and they said that they need to change the whole GPS radio worth $1400. They charged me $86 for diagnostics only and did not bother even unplugging the radio for the meantime while there is no head unit available. I am not happy. I really believe Honda should recall these units. The volume from the radio is at zero and the noise is too much that’s not even safe to drive.

Jan 7, 2025

Uncontrollably loud static noise coming from speakers, even when the head unit is turned off. This noise gets so loud, it becomes a safety issue and a distraction while driving. This noise cannot be turned down or off.

The audio system in these car is failing for multiple owners. Complaint was filed with Honda and all they do is to turn their back on the customers and not acknowledge the issue. You have the complete engine noise amplified through the speakers of the car if you don't stop the car you can easily get your hearing impaired(My wife and I are health care professionals) The issue: Atrocious noise( intermitting ,cycling engine noise amplified through speakers even when the radio is turned off). The vehicle has been inspected by certified mechanics and audio specialists and have been unable to pin point the issue(The car amplifier is currently disconnected on our car) There no sign or message on the car that would alert you that is anything wrong. Symptoms first appear on April of 2024. We did not know where to complaint about this. We read on a forum of more complaints being filed, so we decided to file ours.

Dec 15, 2024

Based on extensive research and the replacement of the factory amplifier, I’m assuming that the component that’s failing is the head unit for the radio. It unpredictably makes this loud static noise come out the speakers that cannot be turned down or off even when the audio power is off. This is a risk to my and other drivers’ safety due to the volume of this noise and the fact I cannot do anything to stop it while driving. The only solution is to pull over and turn the car off. The static noise is so loud that I can’t even hear a horn honking at me and can barely hear emergency vehicles. The problem is hard to reproduce as the static happens unpredictably but I’ve taken it to an audio repair shop and we were able to produce the static noise after about 10 minutes of music playing. This component has apparently been complained about by many people having the same issue as me yet Honda is not recalling or owning up to this failure. I have yet to take it to a Honda dealership to have it inspected but from other’s experience they’ve mentioned that the technicians said nothing can be done but replacing the entire head unit for about $1000. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This problem first appeared about 6 months ago. I don’t understand why so many people are having this issue yet the part has not been recalled yet. PLEASE recall the head unit of 2016-2017 honda accords.

The factory stereo is defective and produces a terrible static noise that is uncontrollable and regularly reaches over 100 decibels. All 2016-2017 Honda accords will have this issue.

Nov 10, 2024

Located in the radio system in the center of the dashboard, others have discussed that there is a cooling fan that fails to cool an audio control chip a few years after the car has been being driven. This audio control chip then overheats destroys itself and will cause the car to permanently blast unbearable static at over 100 DB constantly, and the only way to make it stop is to come to a stop and shut the car off repeatedly until you get lucky and the static noise becomes a deeper popping and crackling sound. There is hundreds, if not thousands of people documenting this on YouTube, Reddit, DriveAccord, and other Honda forums and sites. It happens to all 2016-2017 model year Honda accords regardless of trim. It is so bad, that I recently jumped a curb into oncoming traffic and nearly totaled my vehicle. It does not matter if the vehicles audio system is powered on or off, volume doesn’t affect it, media mode doesn’t affect it. It is a manufacturing fault and this needs to be recalled and replaced. The only current option is for the consumer to dish out $2500- $5000 from our own pocket for a junkyard stereo that will inevitably have the same issue. Someone needs to start a class action.

I am writing to report an issue with my 2016 Honda Accord. The radio frequently produces a static noise, which poses a distraction and potential safety risk while driving. Component/System Failed: The radio system. Availability for Inspection: Yes, the radio is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The static noise distracts me while driving, potentially endangering my safety and that of others. Problem Reproduced/Confirmed: Yes, the issue has been confirmed by an independent service center. Inspection by Manufacturer/Authorities: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or any authorities. Warning Symptoms: The static noise started occurring intermittently about one months ago and has become more frequent. Other people have made forums online complaining about this issue. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] This tend to be a common problem with the Honda Accord and should be recalled as it is a safety risk and Honda refuses to fix the radio for free even though it is a manufacturing issue. There is a problem with the infotainment system. Apparently when the car is exposed to warmer temperatures, the sound system begins to produce static sounds from the speakers. The sound persists even with the radio turned off. The static is so loud, I have recorded decibel levels up to 90 on my Apple Watch. I have researched this problem and it is an issue that many owners have encountered. Honda has reacted to many owners as if they are unaware of this issue and charge customers to diagnose the problem and fix the issue at the owners expense. I am wearing ear plugs in order to drive my vehicle to and from work. In order to make the sound stop is to remove the fuse under the hood, which in turn dismantles safety features such as side view camera, AM radio, and the reverse camera. Honda denies knowing about this issue and it is extremely dangerous to drive this vehicle due to the deafening sound created from the speakers.

ABS system failed and is not working properly. Also the screen in the car for all of my interaction with my car including Bluetooth and any errors involving the car. If my brakes go out in the middle of driving it could cause me and my family to be unable to protect ourselves. I have confirmed the system with 2 different mechanics and both agree there should be a recall. The warning lamps go off and on and are unpredictable.

The radio main unit started to occasionally produce LOUD deafening static without warning. Turning off the radio unit or lowering the volume had no effect, and this static noise would continue at maximum volume through the speakers for a few minutes until it gradually faded. It made it impossible to drive, and hurt my ears whenever it happened so I had to turn off the car to stop it. The speakers were blasting around 100db when inside the car, so I purchased ear plugs to help. I opened a case with Honda and took it to the local Honda dealer. They thought it was the amplifier and replaced it, but the problem immediately occurred again when I was about to leave the dealer. They refunded the repair cost since they were wrong, and advised it was the main radio unit that needed to be replaced. This unit is still available for inspection and has been confirmed by the dealer. There is no warning when this happens. Besides that the speakers blasting at maximum volume is detrimental to my hearing, the fact that it occurs suddenly while driving on the highway is like having a concussive grenade going off and still trying to focus on everything going on around you which is impossible. Hearing horns or sirens when this occurs is impossible due to the volume. It is not safe to have this situation occur on the road, and from looking up my year make&model online I am NOT the only one with this static issue. This issue has been happening for months now whenever I try to drive it.

Sep 12, 2024

Loud continuous static noise emitting from speakers regardless of whether the audio unit is turned on or off. The only temporary solution is to turn the vehicle off. Once the vehicle is restarted, the static noise almost certainly emits within minutes. The static progressively gets louder unless the vehicle is turned off, and it is impossible to hear other vehicles, law enforcement, EMS, and/or fire department sirens. Furthermore, this issue results in noncompliance with several US state noise ordinances due to the decibel level produced by the static.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle failed to start. Additionally, there was a loud static sound coming through the speaker while the radio was turned off. The contact was unable to hear any audible sounds the vehicle might have made. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the battery, battery cable, fuel pump, and engine needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact that there was no warranty coverage for the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

A few weeks ago my cars audio system started having a loud static sound come through the speakers. It quickly got a lot worse and turning the volume down or even turning the unit off did not stop the loud static noise. It got so bad that it nearly caused me to have a wreck. The only way I was able to get it to stop was to pull over to the shoulder on a busy highway and shut the engine off. However, after pulling back onto the highway the static noise quickly returned. I contacted Honda to report the problem (case #14931953), but they acted like they had never seen this issue before and told me to go to the dealer to get a diagnostic ran. I did go to the dealer and talked to the service manager and he told me that the solution was to replace the head unit but they were on backorder. I also did some research online and a whole lot of people are having this same problem. The issue is the Head Units are overheating and Honda does not have replacement parts to fix the problem. In my opinion this is a major safety problem and is happening every time I drive my car now. Many other people experiencing this issue are also stating that this is a major safety issue when they are being blasted with very loud frequencies will trying to drive in busy traffic. They all have expressed their disbelief that Honda has not issued a recall over this problem because its dangerous.

I have extremely loud static coming the stereo., Blue tooth, satellite, FM etc.I have turned it off completely and still have the static. I have to wear Bose Noise cancelling headphones while driving. This is very dangerous as I can't hear horns, sirens etc. There has to be a recall as I have now read many other people having the same issue. What should I do?

The stereo has a safety issue where it can suddenly produce loud static and squeaky noises, even when the volume is turned down or off. There is no warning before this occurs. I can’t upload videos that have where is insanely loud.

Electrical issue on console. Causes loud sounds from all speaker of the car. Sound is to loud to hear traffic around you. It does not stop only gets extremely louder. Has not been to Honda dealer. It has been looked by an electrical repair shop. They are unsure what the problem is. The looked it up online to report there are the same complaints from other Honda accord drivers. This appeared without warning while driving. The sound is so distracting you can not drive. The only way to get sound to to stop is take out a fuse. I turned off radio to try to get it to stop thinking it was radio issue but sound continues with radio in off mode. This started summer 2024.

The head unit plays an extremely loud static noise that you are not able to turn off without having to turn off and on the car several times. The noise coming out of the speakers due to the static noise is at a dangerous decibel level. Ultimately, this requires a $1,300+ new head unit from the manufacturer that is on back order and requires a $200+ diagnostic fee. Please see the following forum for others feedback and documentation on steps, as well as a video of the static others are hearing too: [XXX] Honda has neglected to perform any help. Please note the ABS module is defective and it is a safety risk. The vehicle stability the ABS, VSA, light is on dashboard. The ABS module computer electrical system is the heart of the braking system of the car. There needs to be a recall on this as soon as possible, which which puts everyone at risk

1. The radio system failed and is available for inspection. 2. My safety is compromised as I am subjected to static noise at maximum volume, posing a risk of significant ear damage or potential hearing loss. The intensity of the noise can rapidly lead to noise-induced hearing loss. Additionally, this persistent static noise is highly distracting, increasing the risk to other drivers on the road. 3. Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a Honda dealer. 4. The vehicle and its radio system have been inspected by Honda. The only solution offered by Honda is to replace the entire radio unit, costing between $1,000 and $3,000. It is unreasonable to expect customers to pay such an amount for what is evidently a manufacturing defect, especially when similar issues have led to recalls in other Honda models like the Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport. Following the dealership's advice, I contacted Honda corporate to file a claim in hopes of receiving a discount on the necessary repairs, which should ideally be covered under a recall but are not for the Accord model. Unfortunately, the claim was denied. Honda corporate claims to be unaware of the issue, despite numerous online forums and videos highlighting the same problem, along with Honda's reluctance to address it. Honda corporate denied me any discounts, stating that I do not have a long-standing relationship with them since I have not used their services for all my maintenance needs. 5. There were no warnings prior to failure that occurred in March 2023.

The battery charging sensor failed about 1 month ago. A message on my dash displayed a serious waring to "Check Charging System" to prevent a sudden loss of power and control of my vehicle. I checked the charging system and found it in working order - but the battery sensor had failed so I replaced it, and the problem was solved. I called Honda @ 800 999-1009 and they told me that although the same year, make and model had been recalled for the same defective part that my VIN wasn't included in their recall and they would not reimburse me for the cost of the defective part I replaced ($33.69) until I received a notice that my VIN was included in their recall. I respectfully request that NHTSA follows up with Honda to ensure all affective vehicles are included in their recall. Thank you.

For the last few months, my audio system has been making static and crackling noises. It is intermittent. I would estimate the noise to occur around 25% of the time I am driving. At times, it is extremely loud and nerve wracking. When that noise amplifies, hearing surrounding traffic or other community sounds, sirens, train horns, etc is not possible. This occurs with the audio system turned either off or on. It is unsafe, and there is no way to control it. Online, I have seen complaints from several types of Honda make/model owners, but Honda only recognizes a limited few years, makes, and models. Honda should not be allowed to put Honda drivers, passengers, and the community at large at risk by ignoring the problem. There needs to be a recall and mandate from the NTSB that Honda fix this safety issue. I am listing today as the incident date. However, this issue has occurred pretty much every day for the last few months.

Aug 25, 2023

Audio system started making very loud noise.Thought it was speakers at first but even when the radio is off the noise is on. No buttons are usable, volume, apps, return, source or even the off/on. The noise is extremely loud 2 the point of having 2 pull over, turn the car off. Its a deafening noise & totally unbearable.Have to sit wherever I pulled over for quite some time which is dangerous especially at nighttime to get the noise to its lowest decibel 2 be able 2 drive again only for about 30/40 secs B4 it starts increasing to the unbearable level again.Takes 45 min 2 drive a 15 min trip. Vehicle cant B driven while this is going on and is a definite SAFETY HAZARD due to not being able to concentrate on driving. This has caused me to almost be hit or hit others because I’m so focused on this noise radiating through my head and ears.I cannot hear others horns for warnings. Once exiting my car my ears are buzzing extremely loud. Had 2 audio specialists check it and I’m told it’s the amplifier to contact a Honda dealer about a Goodwill claim. I called Royal Honda in Metairie LA and they told me that since I didn’t purchase my car new from them or serviced there yet (just moved to LA) that they will not consider a Goodwill claim to take it back to the state I purchased it from(really so I’m supposed to drive 6 hours each time? NOT ACCEPTABLE) and if they fixed it they would charge me $3,500. This problem started about 3 months ago. I had the amplifier disconnected and now both of my monitor screens are not working which means I have no cameras for safety and no access to hands free calling, navigation, phone connectivity or anything pertaining to the whole system. Component has not been inspected by mfg, police or ins because I didn’t know it had to be and there were no warning signs prior to this deafening noise escalating to the point of such a COMPROMISE OF MY SAFETY. I’ve read many others are having same issue so it’s time for a recall? Honda we need your HELP!

My vehicle started blaring static noise through all of my speakers even though the volume was turned off. I have found no remedy for this issue, and I've had to resort to wearing noise canceling headphones while driving. This is a MAJOR safety concern as the static noise is as high as my volume will reach, and there is no way to turn it off. Pulling over and turning the vehicle off and on does not fix the issue. Not being able to hear my surroundings drastically increases the chances of me having an accident. I have found many online threads stating that others with this year model vehicle have experienced this same issue. My vehicle is stock and no alterations have been made. This issue seems to occur most frequently when it is a hot day. The blaring of static noise seems to only happen in the afternoon, after my car has sat outside of my office.

Vehicle entertainment center constantly is crashing and will not restart until vehicle is restarted. Made multiple attempts with different Honda dealerships to remedy issue and Honda can’t replicate issue.

Jul 17, 2023

The backup camera in my vehicle randomly but consistently stops working while the vehicle is in motion. The camera drops because the entire infotainment system crashes. The frequency of occurrence is approximately 2-3 times per month, but the problem has occurred for the past two years (around the time when Honda replaced the infotainment system due to a service bulletin). The system crashes usually within the first 1-5 minutes of driving. Sometimes it crashes when the vehicle is going forward, but a higher percentage of crashes occur in the first minute after I start the vehicle. If the vehicle is going forward and the system crashes, I lose the side camera which activates when I make a lane change to the left or a left-hand turn. I have notified Honda of this issue; i've worked with a local dealer and corresponded with Honda Corporate. Importantly, I provided Honda with photos showing the system failure. However, Honda Corporate refuses to fix the problem because, in their words, "we don't fix a problem that only happens periodically." Unacceptable! Drivers like my self depend on the backup camera. Like the airbag or seat belt, the back-up camera should be regarded as a safety device. If it fails, an OME should be required to fix the issue immediately. Yet Honda refuses to address the problem with my vehicle, and I doubt mine is the only car with this problem. Taking photos of this problem is hard because the crash is unpredictable and getting my phone out and snapping a picture is difficult and discouraged. Nevertheless, the two photos i've attached are of crashes when the vehicle is going forward. My concern, though, is loosing the backup camera when in reverse. Please help me redress this issue. Thank you!

I found previous complaints with the same issue so I used their words and added/deleted a bit more: 2016 Honda Accord. The instrument panel or display panel often locks after having iPhone connected and using AirPlay. Have to disconnect iPhone and at times even turn off car to reset the instrument panel display. This is a hassle and if using maps can be inconvenient while driving. Audio main head unit (Honda p/n 39171-T2F-A71) produces loud static from radio speakers. The noise becomes extremely loud. The loud static continues even if the audio system power is turned off. The noise is so loud it is disorienting. The only way to stop the noise is to pull off the road and turn off the engine. The loudness of the static puts the safety of the driver at risk. The problem is intermittent and cannot be reproduced on demand. I provided the mechanic with an audio/video tape of the problem. He told me to contact American Honda about “Goodwill” help provided by them. There are no warning lamps or messages prior to audio main malfunction. My problem first appeared in July 2023. The car is not driveable when the static occurs. Since I cannot drive the car with the loud static, i will have to rent a vehicle. I will report it to American Honda Motor Customer Care on July 18, 2023 to Advised that this problem is a SAFETY issue and is very expensive at $3,500.00.

The radio emits an uncontrollable extreme static. The radio volume, power, or any control will not stop the noise. The sound is so loud the car is not drivable. We removed the fuse to the amplifier and this fixed the uncontrolled static but the radio does not work. This is a huge safety issue as the driver is unable to hear any sirens, horns, or cars outside the vehicle. This issue needs to be addressed in a recall. This is not normal wear.

Radio/audio causing a loud static un bearable noise that won’t turn off even when Turing the radio off an volume all the way down. My concern here is it’s very hard to focus on driving on the road when this occurs since I’m not able to hear anything around me or able to receive phone calls or emergency calls since it is basically impossible to do anything at all until i completely stop somewhere an shut the car completely off. I think not being able to hear traffic around me for example someone honking or a police car, fire truck, ambulance is a real big Hazard. I see a lot of people online that are having the same issue so that’s why I’m here reporting this. I think it def should be reviewed as a hazard safety concern this type of thing can potential cause more trouble on the road for those who suffer from the same issue an other individuals on the road. I have a video of this issue but I am not able to upload it here if I can email the video that would be great.

On a daily or several days/wk basis, either 1) the "Navigation Screen" will freeze in displaying the map the driver is using OR 2) both the "Audio/Information Screen" & the "Navigation Screen" will go blank (displaying only a solid black screen). In problem #1, the driver is distracted & disrupted from continually viewing the road to first confirm whether the map image is frozen as suspected (e.g., pressing buttons). In both Problems #1 & #2, the driver is further distracted & disrupted from continually viewing the road in order to try to reset the system (e.g., pressing buttons, disconnecting & reconnecting a smartphone). Finally, in both Problems #1 & #2, if a soft reset is not successful, in order to regain navigational functionality, the driver must either a) if at a stop sign/light or b) pull off the roadway to (e.g., on to a shoulder) turn the vehicle off & on again to trigger a hard reset.

NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPAIR THIS MISTAKE FOR FREE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY.

OCCASIONALLY, AFTER F I DRIVE THE CAR, CUT IT OFF AND THEN TRY TO START IT, IT WON'T START. I WAIT A SECOND OR TWO THEN TRY AND IT STARTS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN OCTOBER 2019. NOW IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, AT LEAST THREE - FOUR TIMES A WEEK DEPENDING ON HOW OFTEN I DRIVE THE CAR. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS APRIL 3, 2020. THE ISSUE STARTED WHEN I WAS BARELY OVER 42,000 MILES, MAYBE 7 MONTHS AGO IN OCTOBER OF 2019. THE CAR WOULD STALL AFTER IT WAS PARKED FOR A LITTLE OVER 5 MINUTES. I REPLACED THE BATTERY ON IT AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS. THEN, IT STALLED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND A DEFECT ON THE CAR. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT RUN A DIAGNOSTICS THROUGH A THIRD PARTY AFTER TWO DAYS AGO, IT STALLED AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. THE DIAGNOSTICS SAID MY CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. WHAT IS REALLY IRRESPONSIBLE ON HONDA'S PART IS THE FACT THAT I TAKE IT EVERY TIME AND I HAVE ASKED THEM TO RUN THIS DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO.

LAST NIGHT MY DASHBOARD LOST ELECTRICITY FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND MY ENGINE STALLED. I LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL. AFTER 2 SECONDS, ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE DASHBOARD RETURNED TO NORMAL, AS DID THE POWER STEERING AND ENGINE, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THIS MORNING, I DROVE ON A STREET & SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN AREA OF THE CAR & I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. OPENED THE HOOD AND THE BATTERY (POSITIVE TERMINAL) WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. A GENTLEMAN PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH WATER FROM THE GAS STATION. MY BATTERY IS 1/4 MELTED, DUE TO THE FIRE. OTHER PLASTIC PARTS OF THE ENGINE ARE ALSO SLIGHTLY MELTED. I CALLED GARDENA HONDA (IN LOS ANGELES CA) AND THEY TOLD ME MY 2016 HONDA ACCORD WAS NOT PART OF THE BATTERY SENSOR RECALL BUT THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD SEEN MY EMAIL AND FORWARDED IT TO HER SUPERVISOR, AND THAT SHE WOULD SPEAK TO HIM TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO. SHE TOLD ME THAT HER SUPERVISOR SAID TO IMMEDIATELY BRING IT INTO THE GARDENA, CA HONDA DEALERSHIP. UPON ARRIVAL THE SERVICE PEOPLE TOLD ME THEY WOULD DEFINITELY BE CHARGING ME AT LEAST $160 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. I THEN EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I WAS MISLED, AS WHEN I INITIALLY CALLED I WAS TOLD THAT SHE WOULD CHECK TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO AND THAT SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK. AT NO TIME DID SHE SAY I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR ANYTHING. INSTEAD, SHE MISLEAD ME BY SAYING SHE HAD SPOKEN TO HER SUPERVISOR AND THAT HE SAID TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY. THEY MISLEAD ME, WASTED MY TIME, AND ARE PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES IN DANGER AS ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE (2016 HONDA ACCORD WITH VIN IS APPARENTLY NOT PART OF THE RECALL, MY CAR'S BATTERY CAUGHT FIRE AND I AM SURE OTHER PEOPLE'S CAR'S WILL ALSO CATCH FIRE. 2016 ACCORD SPORT HAD BOTH LED LIGHT STRIPS GO OUT. I HAVE WITNESSED THIS ON ALMOST EVERY ONE OF THAT YEARS MODEL. I HAVE ALSO SEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND SOME WERE EVEN DURING LEASE MILEAGE! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT THESE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE NOT UNDER RECALL. HONDA WILL NOT KEEP THAT CONTINUED CUSTOMER LOYALTY AND RETURN FROM CUSTOMERS WITH ISSUES LIKE THIS. I LEASED THIS VEHICLE AT A PURCHASE COST OF $27,000! IT IS ALMOST $1000 EACH TO REPLACE THESE STRIPS AS THE ENTIRE LIGHT HOUSING ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED TO FIX JUST THIS PART OF THE LIGHTS? THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW ON HONDA'S PART! AND TO EXPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THESE REPAIRS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DESIGN FLAW BECAUSE THESE LIGHTS DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION OF BEING TURNED OFF WITH THE REGULAR LIGHTS. THESE ARE FORCED TO RUN NONSTOP FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. HONDA'S DESIGN ENGINEERS HAVE CREATED AN EXPENSIVE FLAW THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL!!! WE ARE ALL RECONSIDERING WHETHER THAT HONDA QUALITY IS LIVING UP TO ITS NAME ANYMORE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AS I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE OUT OF LEASE (3 YEARS LATER) AND STILL HAVE A $26K VEHICLE WITH NO WORKING DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS BECAUSE I REFUSE TO SINK $2K IN REPLACING A MANUFACTURERS DESIGN FLAW. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT ON ALL ACCOUNTS AND REPLACED BY HONDA. HOW MANY CUSTOMERS WILL CONTINUE TO BE RETURNING CUSTOMERS IF THEY HAVE TO REPLACE $2K IN LIGHTS EVERY COUPLE THOUSAND MILES? SPEND $2 K THEN TURN AROUND AND DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE?? NO THANKS. MINE WENT OUT DURING YEAR 2 (2017). HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ASAP. I LEASED A NEW 2016 ACCORD SPORT IN MARCH 2016. I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED IT OUT OF THE 3 YEAR LEASE. IN THE 2ND YEAR OF LEASE (12/08/2017) I WAS AT THE GAS STATION WITH THE CAR SHUT OFF, TRIED TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T START. BATTERY WASN'T WORKING. (ORIGINAL HONDA BATTERY STILL IN IT). THE CAR WAS AT 80K MILES. TRIED TO JUMP START AND IT WOULDN'T START. CALLED TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME, TOW DRIVER TESTED THE BATTERY AND JUMPED IT AND IT STARTED BUT WAS HAVING ISSUES SO HE SAID TO GET IT HOME. I REPLACED THE BATTERY IMMEDIATELY THAT NIGHT. (NEW STORE BOUGHT BATTERY) NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW (APRIL 2019). WAS DRIVING LAST NIGHT IN THE RAIN AND ALL 4 OF MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME (ANTI-LOCK BREAK-ABS, TIRE PRESSURE-TPMS, TRACTION CONTROL, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING-EPS). I HAVE ASSOCIATED THIS ISSUE WITH SEVERAL DEALERS AND IT HAS BEEN LINKED TO THE BATTERY CAUSING THESE SENSORS TO TRIP AS THEY ARE NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE! ONCE THE BATTERY IS REPLACED, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR NOW FOR 3 YEARS EXACTLY AND THIS WILL BE THE 3RD BATTERY I HAVE HAD TO PUT IN THIS CAR, BUT THIS VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE BATTERY RECALL? THE BATTERY RECALL (17V418000) IS FOR WATER GETTING INTO THE BATTERY CASE AND CAUSING SHORTS AND POSSIBILITIES FOR ELECTRICAL FIRES. SOMETHING ON THIS VIN MODEL IS HAVING SEVERE BATTERY ISSUES, POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE WATER WITH LAST NIGHTS INCIDENT, BUT 3 BATTERIES IN 3 YEARS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A $27,000 VEHICLE. #1 ISSUE ON SEP 23 2017 WE WERE GOING DOWN AN INCLINE, IN THE CITY, APPLYING THE BRAKES AND GOING ABOUT 25MPH WHEN THE ENGINE ACCELERATED. WE WERE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. WE CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AND GOT A CASE NUMBER. THEY CALLED US TO TELL US THEY HAD CONTACTED OUR HONDA DEALER AND THEY AGREED NOTHING WAS FOUND SO OUR CAR DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. #2 ISSUE THE FIRST WEEK AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR HONDA IN JANUARY 2016 THE COMPASS WENT OUT. HONDA SERVICE PUT IN A NEW SENDING UNIT. IN SEP 2017 THE COMPASS AND FUEL MPG READOUT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK. THIS HAPPENED ALONG WITH THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM THAT WE STATED ABOVE.. WE TOOK IT INTO FOR REPAIR AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THEY WOULD NOT DO ANY REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR. THEN, ON OCT 24TH THE COMPASS AND THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THE RADIO CAME BACK ON WITHIN A MINUTE, BUT THE COMPASS DID NOT WORK ACCURATELY AGAIN FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WE HAVE SEND AN EMAIL TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND ARE WAITING FOR A REPLY. OUR CAR HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT..

WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, FIRST TIME FOR THE DAY, TOP AND BOTTOM CENTER DISPLAY TOUCH SCREENS WENT BLACK AND THERE IS NO FUNCTIONALITY OF ANY OF THE ASSOCIATED FUNCTIONS: NO NAVIGATION, NO BLUE TOOTH, NO BACK-UP CAMERA, NO SIDE VIEW CAMERA WHEN TURNING. THIS IS A REPEATED ISSUE. DOES NOT RESET.

I AM UNABLE TO START MY CAR AFTER IT SITS FOR TEN DAYS TO TWO WEEKS OR MORE. THE BATTERY GOES DEAD AND MY FAMILY AND I ARE LEFT POTENTIALLY STRANDED. MY WIFE AND I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY AND RETURN TO A CAR THAT WON'T START DUE TO A PARASITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU CAN IMAGINE FLYING HOME, TAKING THE BUS TO THE PARKING LOT AT THE AIRPORT AT 11:00 PM, GOING TO YOUR CAR AND FINDING A DEAD BATTERY WHICH PUTS OUR SAFETY IN PERIL. I TOOK MY CAR TO ONEIL HONDA IN OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS. THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY AND CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING IS FINE. I ASKED ABOUT WHY THE BATTERY WENT DEAD AND THEY SAID THAT THIS IS NOW NORMAL WITH THE NEW HONDA ACCORDS DUE TO THE PARASITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR ISN'T RUNNING WHICH ULTIMATELY DRAINS THE BATTERY TO A POINT WHERE IT WON'T START. HAVING BEEN AN AUTO MECHANIC IN MY YOUNGER DAYS I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EARS. I CALLED ANOTHER HONDA DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA AND RECEIVED THE SAME COMMENT. THEN I PHONED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN SAN ANTONIO WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND AGAIN, WAS PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION.... "THIS IS NOW WHAT I CAN EXPECT ON MY NEW ACCORD, IF IT SITS FOR TEN DAYS OR TWO WEEKS THEN THE BATTERY WILL DIE". THE PARASITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY IS PUTTING MY FAMILY AND I IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND I ASKED THAT YOU INTERVENE. I TRIED TO ADDRESS THIS WITH HONDA AMERICA BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH THE AGENT ON THE PHONE. I EVEN ASKED HER TO PICK A DEALER IN SAN ANTONIO, ANY DEALER, GET THEIR SERVICE MANAGER ON THE PHONE WITH US AND LETS SEE IF HE / SHE GIVES US A SIMILAR RESPONSE REGARDING THE PARASITIC DRAW. SHE REFUSED. NOW I FEEL THAT I NEED YOUR HELP. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE LAST FALL AND IT HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I WILL INDICATE AN APPROXIMATE DATE OF MY INITIAL VISIT / DISCUSSION WITH THE FIRST HONDA DEALER.

IGNITION KEY HAS BEEN HARD TO INSERT AND START THE CAR SINCE WE'VE HAD IT. HAD 12K MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED. KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED EXCEPT BY A LOCKSMITH AND COULD NOT START THE CAR. IGNITION THINKS A KEY IS STILL IN IT EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN REMOVED. TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT.

PURCHASED 2016 ACCORD TOURING IN MAY 2016. IN APRIL 2017 THE CAR WOULD NOT START - APPEARED TO BE A BATTERY ISSUE. HAD THE HONDA ROADSIDE SERVICE COME TO THE HOUSE, THEY JUMP STARTED IT, TOLD TO LET IT RUN/DRIVE IT FOR 1/2 HOUR. DID THAT. WENT SHOPPING AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN ELECTRONICS WENT CRAZY, WIPERS WENT ON THEIR OWN AND THE STOP BUTTON WOULD NOT TURN OFF THE CAR. HAD IT JUMPED AGAIN BY HONDA ROADSIDE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY - SAID IT HAD A BAD CELL IN IT, SAID THERE WERE NO TECH SVC BULLETINS ON THE CAR AND SAID THERE WERE 100'S OF GROUND WIRES IN THIS CAR THAT MAY CAUSE A PROBLEM W/BATTERY PREMATURE FAILURE.

ABOUT A MONTH AGO I BEGAN HAVING INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES. I TURN THE KEY TO START AND IT MAY OR MAY NOT ACTIVATE THE STARTER. NOW, THE ISSUE HAS WORSENED TO THE POINT IT MAY START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, OR REQUIRE 10 OR MORE ATTEMPTS BEFORE POWER TO THE STARTER IS ACHIEVED. BEING A RETIRED MECHANIC IT ACTS LIKE THERE IS A LOOSE WIRE OR GROUND AT THE STARTER. TALKING WITH HONDA, MY WARRENTY HAS EXPIRED (3 YEAR/36,000 MILE) AND THEY REQUIRE OVER $100 TO DIAGNOSIS THE ISSUE. RESEARHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS WITH THE EXACT ISSUE. THEY ALL STATE THAT HONDA CORRECTED THE ISSUE BY REPLACING THE STARTER. I PURCHASED MY HONDA WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF IT TO BE A RELIABLE VEHICLE. NOW, 56,000 MILES LATER (MAJORITY ARE HIGHWAY MILES) I NEED TO REPLACE THE STARTER? THE FACT IS, I HAVE MAINTAINED FLEETS OF VEHICLES, GAS AND DIESEL, AND I FIND THE NEED TO REPLACE THE STARTER PREMATURE AND LUDICROUS! WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ, THERE IS NO REASON THAT THERE IS NOT AND HAS NOT BEEN A HONDA STARTER RECALL/GOOD FAITH WARRANTY FOR WHAT I WOULD CLAIM TO BECOME PREMATURALY DEFECTIVE. FURTHER MORE, IN MY OPINION THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE COULD EVOLVE INTO A FIRE HAZARD.

PURCHASED MY COUPE IN NOVEMBER 2016 BRAND NEW. I HAVE LESS THAN 8600 MILES ON IT. THE OTHER NIGHT MY CAR WENT INTO COMPLETE SHUTDOWN, COMPLETELY DEAD. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE THE MAIN FUSE. WHY WOULD THE MAIN FUSE BLOW ON BRAND NEW CAR? THAT VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY I WAS PULLING INTO MY MOTHER'S DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN TRAFFIC.
