My car is having the head gasket issue which caused an issue while driving.
Upwards of a dozen times my Honda Accord will suddenly brake as it believes I am about to have a collision whereas it is typically a shadow. This happens when going under bridges or overpasses, or depending on the glare from the sun. This has happened several times on the highway causing multiple near collisions at high speeds. This is extremely dangerous and requires an adjustment or recall. I have had this part stolen and replaced through a Honda approved repair shop yet the issue persists.

Hi, to whom it may concern my dashboard lights have been on for months now and I’ve taken it to the dealership I purchased my car from and it comes back that it’s the turbo that needs replacing. The pricing of that is ridiculous and I’m currently not the ONLY one with this issue ! It’s an ALL AROUND THE WORLD thing! I’m not sure about anybody else but I don’t have that type of money plus while paying other important bills ! There should be a recall against the turbo replacement as well! And just what if I was to get the turbo replacement and then the lights come back on, because I’ve seen multiple people saying the replacement didn’t help with the lights and still have gotten other things done and the lights only off for a couple days ! Indeed of answers because this is ridiculous!
The car will have all lights on dashboard showing, car has been taken multiple times to dealership and nothing seems to be wrong but this cause all safety features to malfunction. I have talked with other Honda owners, on forums and acquaintances and they have similar issues.
These also are warning signals that keep coming on I took it to AutoZone obd scanner said is was misfire cylinder2got spark plug changed and engine coil still showing same thing on scanner
The problem I am having with my vehicle Honda accord 2018 is with the head gasket. I was on the highway and as I was driving suddenly all the signs came on the display and gave a warning that my vehicle is overheating and it came down to 20mph while I was on the highway. This was very risky to me and the other vehicle around me.
After having fuel pump replaced by recall at random times dashboard will light up with all system lights, car will go into limp mode and loose power for a few seconds and then I am able to resume driving. Extremely scary as there is no warning. This has happened both on the freeway at high rates of speed and on neighborhood roadways. Safety has been compromised several times and Honda dealer is not able to reproduce the issue, retrieve any warning codes or offer any assistance. This has randomly been occurring for several months. When not having this exact issue car runs with no other issues.
The warning lights for many areas has come on without warning. The car runs and drives fine. Took it to Honda. They want between 500 - 2500 to resolve the issue and replace the front radar. This appears to be a consistent problem for these 2018 Hondas. I already had to have the fuel injectors replaced at 48k miles. Another common Honda problem. Please help us as consumers

Vehicle will sometimes automatically emergency brake with nothing in front of it
The issue first appeared during my initial test drive before purchase in 2019. The salesman stated it was a low-battery issue from the car sitting on the lot. Since then, the same problem has recurred multiple times. The vehicle displays multiple warning lights — “Electric Powertrain Fault,” Check Engine, EPS, and VSA — with reduced power, jerky acceleration, and temporary loss of throttle response. This poses a safety risk when merging or crossing intersections. Vehicle: 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5T, approximately 52,000 miles. Diagnostic codes retrieved include U0401-68 (ECM/Electric Powertrain Communication Failure), U0416-68 (VSA/EPS System Malfunction), and P0302 (Cylinder #2 Misfire). These faults have occurred despite replacement of spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors (all OEM Honda parts). Dealerships have not been able to permanently correct the issue. The problem appears related to the ECM or communication network between the powertrain and stability systems. The sudden loss of power and unpredictable throttle response during normal driving creates a serious safety hazard.
When it is cold outside my ACC light comes on and when I started my car the other day it read Emissons Service Problem Avoid Heavy Acceleration and High Speed. That was just 1 among 7 other service warning that popped up.
I was driving on a four-lane highway using adaptive cruise control, gaining on a vehicle ahead. When the cruise control picked up the vehicle, I accelerated slightly, used left turn signal and began changing lanes, the warning for collision mitigation came on and the cruise control disengaged. Continued driving home and the warning continued, and cruise control would not function. Next time used the car the warning light was off, and system functioned properly.

My car be braking and nothing be in front of me.It detects something in front of me when nothing be there.
UNKNOWN. I will be driving and automatically it will lock the brakes and nobody will be in front of me. I tried turning it off but somehow it still ends up on. This has been doing it now for some but it’s getting worse and worse. Before it would just blink on the dash “ BRAKE” but wouldn’t apply the brakes but recently it has been applying the brakes and going from 45mph to 60mph it has done it and giving bad whiplash. Now it’s starting to scare me because someone is going to end up rear - ending me and cause an accident. I tried talking to a dealership about it but they said they will look into it and never hear anything about it. I really am starting to be worried Everytime I drive my car that something bad is going to happen. This needs to be fixed and diagnosed

If car is idling for over 1 minute, all lights on dash come on. When all lights on, car wont wont go over mph, car will randomly sputter in highway when going over 1rpm and will stall randomly. Reported on reddit by multiple people and when I went in to get it diagnosed it was the fuel injector issue

On August 7, 2025, the automatic braking system alerted with the sign break and then proceeded to stop the car when there was no object or vehicle in front of me. This would have been extremely dangerous. If there was someone behind me this is not the first time this has occurred it has happened several times.
Fuel pump recall. Put in an order with Honda dealer January 2024 for the pump. On February 2025 asked if they submitted the order back in January 2024? They said it was. Now it's August 2025 (20 months since) and waiting. NHTSA says if they failed to fix in a timely manner to make a report online. Is 20 months long enough? Driving with a safety recall. Second making a complaint with the 10 speed auto transmission 2nd to 3rd hard shift and 4th to 3rd hard shift. Putting stress on other components can break mounts, the transmission, axles, ect. could also launch the car into the car in front of you, in heavy (slow bumper to bumper) traffic. Wasted my own money and time draining and filling 5 quarts of honda 2.0 transmission fluid. (Also replaced the trans filter behind the warmer housing) Did not fix the issue. Contacted American Honda and they said It's out of warranty and I need to pay for diagnostic and repairs. (I just bought the car in 2023 at 45k miles. Previous owner must of felt it and should of did something while under warranty.) Honda know this issue from the beginning and hiding the issue to save money. Check the Accord forums online. It's most of us if not all the 18-20 10 speed models. Vehicle is 2018 Accord 2.0 10 speed 50k miles. Plus the normal Phantom braking and lane departure which will automatically steer you off the road, so you have to fight the steering wheel.

Head Gasket Blown on a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5 Turbo. Yes, yes warning lights have appeared.
I had been driving down highway and all of a sudden my car put on brakes hard. Thank goodness no one was behind me. I had dealer turn off that feature so it wouldn't happen again. I still experience my brake light flashing when nothing in road to brake for but doesn't brake on its own. Issue having now is issues starting car and once it starts I recieved a collision mediations issue pop-up on display saying see dealer now. Cruise control issue, and on dash has traction control saying ignitionating continue driving. The braking issue started right after purchase in 2018. The starting issue started yesterday 7/25/2025.

Parking brake suddenly engaged while in traffic car would not move. Car had to be towed brake pads were replaced but mechanic stated parking brake had defect that only the dealer can repair.
All lights on head dash are on , all components are not working properly or effected because of this. (Engine light brake light abs light tire light traction control light , sensors out all) while driving vechile reduces power does not operate randomly , have to pull over shut the car off and turn it back on. Has high vibrations lot of shaking, stauling. I have had it looked at with multiple shops and dealer . Everybody is playing a guessing game and can not pin point what exactly it is . Was told it was spark plugs and coils, alternator , fuel injectors. ALL have been repaired, and still have all lights on dash and still facing every problem listed after repairs. Been inspected by manufacturer. Say not been resolved was told if it wasn’t what was already fixed they don’t know and that this is very common right now . It first started about a month ago.
Driving down the road, no cars or obstacles in front of me. Out of nowhere the automatic emergency breaking came on. The car slammed on the breaks and very quickly came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. If there happened to be another car behind me they would have rear-ended me. There were no warnings prior to this happening.
I was behind another vehicle with the adaptive cruise control on and been following the for some distance at a speed below the cruise control setting. Warning came on for the braking mitigation, cruise control disengaged, vehicle began coasting but did not brake. I continued home driving without any other changes, but warning stayed on. After arriving turned vehicle off and restarted, Warning did not come back on. I have not driven vehicle since. I checked and found other reports of similar problems and am filing this report. Will continue driving with extra caution and report any other occurrences.

Emergency Braking System engaged for no apparent reason with no other vehicles on the road. Potential for rear-end collision. This was the first event. Personally inspected forward looking sensors / camera for blockage, none found. Did not notice any messages or warning during the event. Wasn't looking at the dash during the event.
Well to start I had to replace my head gasket already last winter at 59K miles and for awhile now I had warning lights on my dash for CMBS system failure and cruise control/steering wheel controls don’t work besides the ones for music. No lane assist, none of those safety features work at all and haven’t for awhile

Car goes in limp mode once the brake system lights come on. When the brake light system comes on, none of the functions for the automatic breaks or electrical portion of my vehicle works. The car will act as if it will not accelerate right before the codes start to appear on the car.

Blown Head Gasket after taking my car in to Honda cars of Rock Hill SC, I had no issues, only took it to have the Fuel injector recall done, they did a diagnostic nothing came up, they did the fuel injector recall repair, and they asked if they could do the oil change i told them yes, a week later, my car lost power on interstate 77N in rock hill south carolina. I was going about 70 mph and it dropped from 70 to 20 mph in a matter of seconds, i had little time to get out the lane, i could have been killed or killed someone else i was terrified. Every known light on my 2018 honda accord came on, I have a video of the lights on my dashboard. I had it towed back to honda cars of rock hill on 5/30/2025 and was told I had a blown head gasket...I asked them how, they just put a fuel injector and nothing else was wrong with my car. they told me cost is $5500.00, i told them there as nothing wrong with my car prior to them doing the recall, Matt told me there was nothing i did, so i asked him what did they do to my car, I need them to replace my motor who knows what other damage happened my car had no issues.
During interstate driving vehicle detected both road departure and engaged the emergency automated braking. The vehicle attempted to correct the "road departure" by steering the vehicle away from the perceived problem and engaged the brakes nearly causing a collision as it has done numerous times before. I have reported this to NHTSA and American Honda and await a repair of this dangerous issue. Honda has opened a case on this but have had 6 months and no response has been issued.
This is about the 5th time this has happened to the car. All warning lights appeared spontaneously while driving. The lights would turn off if the car was turned off for a long period of time or is we disconnected battery for a long period of time. We have tried to research the problem and no one seems to know what the cause or permanent fix is.

• Head gasket • None of the safety features work when there is a head gasket issue. Power steering is reduced as well as break performance • Confirmed by Honda dealership with a Boroscope • Honda • No warning, Honda at first thought it would be fixed by fixing the factory recalls. Light went away prior to taking it in and then looked in to it 2 weeks later and diagnosed head gasket failure

UNKNOWN I received the notice that there was an active recall on my 2018 Honda about the 1.5 Fuel Pump. I have scheduled several appointments to fix this, only for Honda to cancel all appointments related to the recall, stating they didn't have the part. I was headed to work, and every light on the dashboard that could come up, came up. There were several warning lights from brakes, transmission, collision, engine, etc. I took the car to the dealership, and they discovered that the fuel injector was the culprit. I am outraged because they're denying there's a connection, and I believe otherwise.
I purchased this 2018 Honda Accord that has had no major problems until the last 6 months. I purchased the car from Gerald Jones Honda and have had all repairs and maintenance done there with the exception of tire related concerns and occasional oul changes. All the issues I've experienced have been engine related and in the same area of the engine. Consistent leaks, repeated warning lights, and loss of speed. I have replaced fuel injectors, a head gasket, and a turbo in the last 6 months. Despite those repairs, I'm still experiencing leaks and flashing warning lights. Honda currently has my car due to warnings again. They have indicated it is a performance issue but can't locate the problem. Even suggested I continue to drive the car as they have been unable to duplicate what caused it. I told them to keep it because that makes no sense for me to drive it as it seems unsafe to do so and I could potentially make matters worse. I've spoken to several 2018 Accord owners who have experienced the same issues. This is very concerning to me and crippling my finances. Honda stands out for their reliability, but regrettably the 2018 1.5L turbo doesn't stand up to Honda's reputation.
My 2018 Honda Accord Sport has been experiencing issues with its automatic emergency braking system, specifically the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). The system has been activaing unexpectedly, causing the car to brake without an apparent reason. I’ve been trying to keep a list of locations that it has happened and it usually occurs under overpasses when the light changes from light to dark. I’ve reached out directly to Honda and the dealership and neither took my inquiry seriously.

My vehicle is stalling out. The engine failed. I was traveling and had to pull off the interstate and stop and restart vehicle. It was very dangerous as traffic was going at a high rate of speed. Yes the vehicle has been confirmed by a dealer. Yes all the warning lights are on in the vehicle.
The collision mitigation braking system is engaging while I’m driving with no obstructions in front of me. The car slows down completely while I’m on the highway almost coming to a complete stop. This has happened numerous times since Dec 2024. I took it into Honda and they did absolutely nothing besides charge me over $500 for diagnostic fees and told me to get an oem battery and bring it back to be inspected again.
Warning lights come all across the dash stating to see the dealer. I have taken it to the dealership and the issue is the fuel injector that causes the warning lights to go off and on at random. I still have a warranty of my car and was told the warranty does not cover that part. This is happening to a lot of honda accords but there is no recall for it. There is a safety issue for driving because they stay on and then go off and come back on again. This is unfortunate and unacceptable from Honda as a whole. I bought the car in May 2024 and the warning lights came on a week later and have been ever since off and on.
While driving on the interstate, suddenly got 6 different ‘warning’ messages on the dashboard. Most of them involved the brakes. Emergency brake malfunction, brake hold malfunction, forward collision malfunction, adaptive cruise control malfunction, brake system malfunction (use of brakes may be reduced), and road departure mitigation malfunction.

The car is braking even when there is no obstacle or vehicle ahead. I have not driven at higher speed but I fear that if that happens, it can cause incident and injury.

I recently took my car to the dealer because I have multiple messages on my dashboard saying please see dealer dealing with my brake system, electric power steering, vehicle ability assist, collision mitigation system problem, etc the dealers don’t know what’s going on with it. I recently had service done on it because of the recall with the fuel pump and even before that those messages were showing up.
CARS BRAKE/MDOULE AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGING. BRAKE LIGHT AND BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CONSTANTLY FLASHING. FROM WHAT IVE READ SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED OR MADE A RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE HARM TO THE DRIVER AND OTHERS.

While driving on highways, with no one in front of me, vehicle will brake while I have my foot on the gas. Vehicle says brake system malfunction. When I let off the gas and push again, it'll accelerate for a second, then brake again even though my foot is on the accelerator.
The accelerator is going out when I drive. The car drives slow and pulls back while driving. Thought it was fuel pump, took it in for fuel pump recall, & the car is still doing the same thing, no change. All lights on dashboard are on. The safety of my children & myself has been put at risk quite a few times. While driving the car getting on the freeway ramp, the accelerator went out going up an hill and luckily I was able to put my emergency lights on & able to barely get over to the right side. My car almost stalled. I’ve taken it to the dealer a few times. When I took it to fix fuel pump recall, they said 2 other codes were coming on. I took it in again this past week to check those 2 codes hoping to get it fixed & he said now other codes were coming up. They couldn’t seem to find the problem. The guy said they had been working on it since 9am and it was almost 4 pm when I talked to him. He called me an hour later to say it could possibly be the head gasket but not for sure. My vehicle has been inspected by the Honda dealer. When the problem first happened on the freeway warning lights came on. Warning lights on are: Collisions mitigation braking system on, adaptive cruise control problem on, hill start assist problem vehicle may roll on, vehicle stability assist system problem on, electric power steering system problem on, brake hold system problem on, brake system problem performance on, tire pressure system monitor on, emission system problem on.

Vehicle emergency braking system randomly triggered, causing me to completely stop from 40mph to 0mph in the middle of a intersection. Almost got rear-ended. NO vehicles were infront of me to trigger the emergency braking system. Vehicle has not been taken to dealership yet.

I was traveling down the road and I passed a bus that was in the right lane. I think when I reached the bus shadow that’s when the automatic brake warning came on and then my car went from 50 to 15mph instantly tossing everything in my car and hurting me neck.
While traveling at approximately 30-35 mph, my vehicle suddenly and abruptly stopped, flashing the word "brake" on my dashboard. I was traveling in the right lane on a four lane road, with no vehicles in front of me or to the left of me. There were no pedestrians near, the road was free from any hazards and the road ahead was clear of any potential hazards that may require an abrupt halt. I was properly restrained, but my safety and the children I travel with could have quickly become compromised if hit from behind. Additionally, everyday items such as my school bag, water bottle and my children's books that I keep in my vehicle came flying forward, obstructing my ability to properly operate my vehicle. Additionally, being that this was unexpected, I was pretty shaken up which compromised my ability to safely operate my vehicle while attempting to find a place to park my car. My vehicle was not inspected and I used my owners manual to turn my collision mitigation braking system off in order to safely arrive at my destination. Additionally, there were no warning signals or messages that indicated this issue before it happened.

When driving, the car will suddenly slow down and automatically will apply brake. Then, the warning light will pop on the dashboard. When I run the diagnostic, it shows that the car has C0023-12: Brake Diag Circuit on Failure.
Cam position sensor on bank 1 went out at 75k miles. Causing the vehicle to go into a sort of limp mode. The only way the issue was temporary fixed was if the battery was unplugged and plugged in again and the engine was up to operating temperature.

Everyday the vehicles struggles to pick up on speed and stalls out. I am often holding up traffic because I’m driving to slow. I have to very very very slowly accelerate so that the car doesn’t stall. When the trying to accelerate it often skips and jerks while driving. I often wonder if this will affect me while driving on the interstate. I fear that a bad accident is on the horizon with these issues. Could you please help. I’ve tried multiple times since last December to get the car fixed and Honda refuses to fix my vehicle even though I received a letter in the mail saying more repair parts are available.
During normal driving - clear weather conditions - the car will suddenly activate the forward collision braking. It will literally slam on the brakes and decrease the speed by 10-15 MPH. This happened as I was going down the drive of our neighborhood, I was at 45 MPH with no one in front of me or behind me (thankfully) and the car applied the brakes and activated the front collision warning. There is also an intermittent issue with my seatbelt. Specifically the drivers seat belt. I was witness to someone driving my car - he buckled his seat belt and it unlatched. He then buckled it again thinking he didn’t do it right - but it wouldn’t latch. This has happened to me before as well - but usually after the third try of buckling the seat belt it will work and so I thought nothing of it. Additionally, the windshield wipers do not go back to their original position after being in use.
Collision Mitigation automatically engaged causing vehicle to brake when unnecessary. Once after excelling from a redlight and again when entering a highway on ramp. After occurring twice in a 6 month period it's now become permanently disabled with dash warnings. Braking System Error. Collision Mitigation Breaking System Error. TPMS Error.

Every week the following warning lights keep coming on, brake System problem, vehicle stability assist, electric power steering system, hill start assist, acc, collision mitigation. And engine light. Has happened 6 times since purchase. Been to dealer 2 times and problem has not been addressed. They only fixed recall on fuel pump. Took it to dealer we purchased it from and they didn't do anything to fix problem.

Braking system engaged while driving, slamming on brakes for no reason within first 6 months of having purchased my 2018 Honda Accord EX. While driving the car on a normal highway with no cars in front of me, the car suddenly brakes and then the brake releases. The car came to a complete stop for no reason while driving around 55-60mph on the highway with no cars in front of me or to the sides. I couldn't get the brake pedal up off the floor of the car. After about 5 seconds, the brakes finally released, and I was able to drive again. Took car to Princeton, NJ Honda Service Department and they tried to readjust the front facing camera and the radar system. They said that it was misaligned or had been misaligned due to possible damage from a rock kicking up from road. Car was okay for about a week and then was slammed suddenly to hard brake in middle of road while driving again on highway, around 45mphs. Car was bought back to Honda dealership, and the service department solution to problem was to order a new front camera unit and replace the radar unit. New Camera Parts were on backorder, with over a 2 week wait for parts to deliver to dealership. Princeton Honda provided a loaner vehicle while awaiting parts and then repairs. Was without my new car for over 2 and half weeks. Have had no such issues with braking system since replacement and repair of a front camera and radar unit.
yes it is available for inspection. car all of a sudden puts on its brakes could have caused a rear end accident not on my car no they come on and go off randomly it started acting up and then the lights came on

My collision mitigation braking system is automatically braking on me with nothing in front of me going high rated speeds on the interstate. I have chronic migraines and neck issues that also have been being treated on a very consistent basis. I brought it in numerous times. I have appointment documents from dealership stating these issues, with no solution. Today it happened again severely and it was harsher than normal, scaring my 3 kids. I have had enough. Winter is coming and I am not gonna challenge black ice again. I have ongoing medical conditions being treated due to the repetitive whiplash.

This is the second time in a year and a half, fuel injectors went bad an were replaced and im assuming this time is same issue. The car had a little rough idle . The car throws a check engine light and all other lights on dash come on and vehicle went into a sort of limp mode.. car would not excellerate and all safety items will not work… the injectors went bad at 59000 miles and after being changed at dealer it looks like they are bad again at 78000 miles.. this car is dangerous because of these issues..i am calling dealer on Monday

MY HUSBAND RECENTLY GET THIS CAR WITH A LOAN. WE BEEN WITH THE CAR FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS. RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING MY DAUGTHERS TO SCHOOL ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR START ACTING UP. MY CAR START SHAKING LIKE IT WAS GONNA TURN OFF ON 45 MILES. AFTER THAT HAPPEND I FIND OUT THE IT WAS A RECALL ON MY HONDA ACCORD 2018 FUEL PUMP. I WENT TO A HONDA DEALER AND UNTIL THIS TIME NO ONE CAN HELP ME
My 2018 Honda According Touring 1.5 Liter Turbo has an intermittent problem with the vehicle’s warning alerts. The vehicle systems affected include Adaptive Cruise Control, Vehicle Emission System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Vehicle Stability Assistance, Hill Start Assist, Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Blind Spot Info System, and Collision Mitigation System. When I checked online for other 2018 Accords with a similar problem and found numerous cases. The most commonly recommended corrective action was to replace the battery. I tried that. It corrected the problem for two months, but the same multiple systems failure displays have occurred again. Interestingly, none of the systems that could be independently checked (e.g., brakes and TPMS) showed any indication of actually malfunctioning. There are multiple cases online, reported by 2018 Accord owners, of receiving different explanations from Honda dealers as to the cause of the malfunction from rodent damage to problems with the turbocharger. Several people reported paying for repairs that did not correct the problem or did so only temporarily.

My car will suddenly brake hard on its own with nothing in front of it at random times. The dash may or may not say BRAKE when this happens. This did not start until I had my windshield replaced. I have had the windshield camera recalibrated twice and it's still randomly stopping on its own.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. While the contact's wife was driving at a moderate rate of speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged erroneously with the "Brake" warning light illuminated. The failure recurred soon after the initial failure and the contact's wife was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was scheduled for an appointment for a vehicle inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

On this day at approximately 1:20 p.m. the weather was clear and dry and there was very light traffic with no cars nearby and no debris in the roadway. I was driving approximately 45 mph when my vehicle suddenly flashed and beeped the warning to brake and I felt the car brake hard as it swerved to the left entirely on it's own. I was able to take over the vehicle and thankfully there was no collision or injuries. This was the first time this has happened. My vehicle will be available for inspection upon request. If there had been heavy traffic at the time or had I been on the freeway, the outcome could have been very serious. I looked up what I experienced and there are verified accounts of "Phantom Braking" for 2018-2019 Honda Accords. I did not have the vehicle inspected. There were no warnings prior to the incident.
While driving with nothing surrounding me my car applied a hard brake out of nowhere.
As I was driving in a 25 mph zone (thank goodness) and I drove over the metal construction paver on the road my car brake alert started beeping then made my car come to an abrupt stop! Thank goodness I wasn’t going that fast and no one behind me was close enough to hit me! This sensor needs to be corrected! Someone could have died or been seriously hurt! That should never happen what if I were on the highway going over 50 mph
My car will randomly brake. This has happened multiple times while driving on the interstate. I will be driving 76 mph and the emergency braking system will brake when there is nothing in front of me. It’s scary going from 75mph to slamming on the brakes. Happened probably 10 times since I bought the car 2 years ago. Several times almost caused the people in back of me to hit me
2018 Honda Accord Twice last week my car suddenly braked with no obstruction in front of the vehicle. I was on a straight section of the roadway. Thankfully no one was directly behiind me. It appears there have been other incidences reported.

my car has been severely malfunctioning due to the fuel pump recall. I have had to avoid several accidents due to the loss of power at high speeds, stalling, and sputtering. My car started experiencing these issues last December and I was told by Honda to take it in to be diagnosed (which I did), and then I was told there was no fix or parts at that time because it was due to a faulty fuel pump. I parked the car and I had to find rides to work until I was unable to, so I had to start back driving the vehicle. The issue became severe again about a week ago. My car completely stalled and would not accelerate at all at a traffic light. I proceeded to turn on my hazards and call for assistance while turning the car off. Eventually the car was able to be moved after about 20 mins of being powered off. Luckily, I wasn't far from my home, I turned on the hazards and slowly made it home and parked the car. I'm currently afraid to continue to drive the vehicle because of safety concerns for myself as well as other drivers on the road. My car stalls, shuts off, will not start back up, and sputters, and all of the lights on the dash are on. The first incident I was almost hit by another driver because of the loss of power. I have reached how to Honda several of times and had the car diagnosed and done everything I was asked to do but I am still being given the "run around" and they do not seem to be making this a priority matter. This is my only car, and it has been a major inconvenience for me as well as been very unsafe for me to operate my vehicle and I still do not feel they have any plans to resolve this matter anytime soon.

When driving at highway speeds the auto has started to brake and the warning brake alert flashes on the dashboard when there are no obstructions. On some occasions the brake warning light comes on even when there are no cars or traffic in front of the auto. Recently the cruise control turned off for no apparent reason.

When the vehicle in front of me slows down significantly, my Accord will flash the automatic brake warning and come to a complete stop. Once stopped the vehicle does not accelerate for a few moments. Several times I’ve pressed the acceleration pedal to the floor with no acceleration, the vehicle in front of me long all while watching cars swerve behind me to not rear end me. The several times this has happened the vehicle has left me completely stopped in heavy traffic, the middle of an intersection, or lastly an empty road as the vehicle stopped for a median…

Vehicle stalls upon start on multiple occasions. Vehicle will not start at all on multiple occasions. On approximately February 2024 vehicle sent a warning signal while driving. Warning states vehicle cannot accelerate while driving on the highway, then vehicle slows under traffic speed causing fear of crash while on the highway causing me to pull over and restart vehicle. After restart, vehicle stalled again. Children were present in the vehicle. Called dealer to inform about the issue and was made aware of recall on fuel pump. Dealer does not have parts and will not have parts for recall for months. Called dealers near me periodically over the course of months. All local dealers reported parts will not be available for ongoing months.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the word “Brakes” started flashing on the instrument panel, and the vehicle independently slowed down. No other warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated there were no other vehicles around to cause the failure. The contact called the dealer, and the contact was informed of a possible software glitch; however, there was no remedy for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

While riding down the interstate the automatic braking system slammed on the brakes. There was a semi truck in the lane beside me and for some reason it just applied the brakes and flashed the automatic brake warning sign while using the cruise control. I quickly hit the cancel button on the steering wheel to stop the braking. My lane was completely clear when this occurred. This is not the first time that this has happened. The last time this happened there was no one close to me and the same thing happened.

There are a lot of boxes it would not let me check. Started 2020. For no apparent reason the car will just lose all power and all the warning lights will go on. Some times it will just automatically break. Luckily the times it's happened I was city driving but had I been on freeway when it happened may have been dealt for myself and others. Car continues to have same problem, with losing power, all warning lights and breaks. If the 10amp fuse is out it does it. As you can see I've taken numerous times and paid lots of money. I was only aware of 2 recalls and would like to know about the others. I have a lot more to say.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the failure occurred. The contact stated that there was a delay while attempting to start the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, shuddered, and decelerated independently. Additionally, the vehicle intermittently lunged forward while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light, Forward Collision Avoidance, braking system, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an unknown extended warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve taken the car to several other places to find out that the repair guys are at each and everyone as if they know that my car is going to be there is very scary is very creepy. Every last one of them works or worked for the dealership that I purchased the car and had repairs done, my car has been keyed in operable. I’m having issues with getting it repaired to find out what the repair is. I’m getting the runaround. I’m buying parts and services for things and I’m still not figuring out what’s wrong with the car at this point I feel like I’m being targeted. I would like to know the name I have filed complaints. I’ve spoken to Jackie and she has not contacted me back or any of the people , that works at the Honda manufacture I can provide your proof I have some unknown trusted credentials that are popping up. I’m not sure if all of this happened after they did the TV broadcasting thing back in October, but I am very much aware that there’s something going on and I am unable to figure it out and these people that work at the dealership are not wanting to fix the problem because I’ve already filed several complaints with them, I just wanna get my car fixed or at least know what’s wrong with it

I have 2018 Honda accord sport 2.0 manual transmission. I’m dealing with the ABS module malfunction where the abs module board is detective due to the pins being unsoldered due to intense heat in the engine area. To repair the ABS module it costs around $1200. But Honda has not made the abs module better. Mechanic states even the new module will not be guaranteed after replacing the module. I need help to get this item recalled. As this issue has been going on for any Honda from 2011-2022 veichels.

As I was driving down the street, the Automatic Emergency Braking system was activated and brought my vehicle to a complete stop! There was no vehicle directly in front of me and it almost caused the vehicle behind me to slam into me had they not veered into the other lane of traffice to avoid rear-ending me. I could have easliy been rear-ended and injured and/or caused several accidents as a result of this. The AEB sytem has activated before with no apparent reason, but this was the first time it actually came to a complete stop. Fortunately, I was not on the highway at much higher speeds as this could have had serious and possible deadly consequences. There have no been warnings or indicators previous to this incident that would have alerted me that there may be some type of issue with this system.
When the adaptive cruise control is engaged there are times that the vehicle will brake by itself when there is no vehicle in front of me. I drive 52 miles one way to work and then home daily. This happens at least once almost every time that it is used. As for the blind spot warning it randomly will go on and off saying an object is near especially when parked at red lights with none of the vehicles moving around me.
I was stopped at a light and was the first vehicle. When it turned green I started to go. I saw a short ways in front of me one of those metal plates over a hole in the road. I started to coast from 20 mph with the anticipation I would be at 10 mph when I got to it. Just before I would go over it the emergency brake system kicked in and took the vehicle to a stop. I tried to make it go by stepping on the gas but it came to a complete stop. I am thankful the vehicle behind me did not hit me.
The lane departure warning activated when centered in a lane with clearly marked lines on the road and the steering wheel started pulling me out of the lane on a major highway. Within 5 seconds of the initial warning a follow up warning saying "Road Departure" appears and the car initiated automatic breaking in the middle of a highway. There are not other cars around me at the time of the incident, but this could have caused a major accident as my car slammed on the breaks at 55 MPH. At no time did the car leave the lane despite the warnings. I reported this to the dealership and was told they would look into this if it happened again.
Occasional braking when there is no reason for the car to brake
I saw an article that this was being investigated, and I’ve experienced the same issue multiple times. I will be driving on the highway with no car directly in front of me and every so often my car automatically emergency brakes as if there is a vehicle in front of me that I’m about to hit. This happened to me again just the other day.
Over the past two weeks, I have encountered problems with my car's many lights. These issues have been related to issues with the braking system, collisions, road departure, emission system, ACC system, vehicle stability, and electric power system. By disconnecting the battery, the lights have been switched off. My car can only be operated in this manner.) The automobile would not go faster, and I was stuck in traffic, endangering my safety. There might have been an accident if someone had been speeding. This had happened before, and when I called the Honda store in Milledgeville, Georgia, to report the problem, they said they were unable to locate a problem because the lights had vanished. Yes, Butler Honda in Milledgeville reported that they were unable to locate a problem. The mechanic informed me that it was OK to drive even if the car had lights on because they couldn't use the car today. However, a few days later, the lights had vanished once more. It occurred approximately once in July 2023, twice in December 2023, once in March 2024, and once in April 2024. Before the several lights, there was no warning light.
2018 Accord consistently has the warning pop up for the the crash mitigation system and tells me to visit the dealer. Cruise control just stop working while driving. When I turn the car off and back on it resets, and then 10-20 miles goes by and the error pops up again. Incredibly unreliable and unsafe when I’m on the freeway going 70. This has been a constant problem.

I have a 2018 honda accord. I have had issues with it breaking and nothing being there. It has cause me to almost get rear ended several times and I find it to be a huge safety hazard. I will be driving down an open road and nothing will be in front of me. My car will randomly slam on the breaks and it scares me terribly. This has happened quite a few times now. At first I thought it was a fluke but it has continued to happen and is becoming a major issue.
Automatic emergency braking occurred three different times for no apparent reason. The car slowed down on a major road. I never reported it. No. A large orange message "BRAKE" on the dashboard while it occurred.
On [XXX], while I was driving from St. Petersburg, FL to Tampa, FL, I experienced phantom breaking on the highway. The vehicle gave brake warning and started breaking automatically. Fortunately, I accelerated and maintained my speed thus avoiding a rear end accident. I realized that there is an ongoing inquiry related to these incidents but I thought I should come forward and write to you for everyone’s safety. Forward Collision Warning feature On 02/16/24 I was traveling east on I-630 at about 60 mph. While driving at that speed I saw a foreign object in my lane but I could not swerve in neither right or left lane as there were vehicles traveling in both lanes when my car hit the foreign object the object became lodged under the car dragging it at least 20 to 30 feet the car lost power myself and passenger had to push car out of road to shoulder to keep from getting killed as it had lost power and would not start. The Forward Collision Warning feature did not alert me of the object nor of the vehicle’s traveling ahead of me nor vehicles traveling in left and right lanes along side of me that I attempted to avoid hitting. I had previously filed a complaint about the warning lights and malfunctioning features on the car to dealership on 2019 2020 and 2021 I was told it could be a series of reasons why the warning lights are all on and the car features shut down even the car losing its power I was never able to get my car on the recall list for this I filed a complaint with Honda Manufacturer 2022 and was told that someone would be in touch but no one ever called I took the car back to dealership tech stated that the cracked windshield maybe the cause of the warning lights coming on so I got windshield , spark plugs, battery twice, replaced all for tires twice kept scheduled services up to par warning lights still on in-car still losing power in the middle of traffic on 01/20/24 I tried getting appt for fuel pump recall dealerships states they donot have the inventory to replace fuel pump I was told when Honda manufacturer contact dealerships giving the go ahead to repair I will l be contacted fast forward to 02/16/24 this is the result of none of features functioning especially the Forward Collision Warning feature my car now is at a loss of use it does not start the oil panel was damaged the radiator was crushed the sensor dislodged and body was damage to vehicle
All electrical warning lights came on dashboard. This is very frustrating and scary. This needs to be a recall on this vehicle because nothing this serious is normal. I thought my car was falling apart. Honda needs to fix this problem and the owner should not be responsible.

After this car was repaired by the body shop, all the automatic systems in the car started flashing and no one could figure out why. It went to four different repair shops over several months, till finally they convinced me to purchase another vehicle when this one was going to be paid off in two months. This problem was well documented by several repair places , and ultimately since it was unrepairable I had to trade it in and got bottom dollar for a non-running car that I owned since the beginning and got screwed.
I was traveling on [XXX] transitioning to connect the [XXX] . The emergency brake abruptly engaged and jerked/slammed my upper body forward and then backward. There was no vehicle in my path that warranted the auto braking system engagement. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The problem began a month or so ago.I had my car diagnosed at the Honda dealership and it has a fuel injector fuel pump issue. All of the vehicle lights are on TPMS engine light brake system light steering light collision mitigation emmission electrical steering hill start assistive cruise control LKAS and brake hold light. My car stalls while driving. It sputters when i start it.When i attempt to excelerate the car is not getting gas and the car wont go. I fear for my safety and the safety of others while driving because the car stalls. Can someone please contact me.
Car would shake in the morning would wait till warmed. Immediately brought to Honda where I had a diagnostic completed approx. 9/3. Reports says head gasket. Car well taking care (maintenance) no reason for blown head gasket. Got a second opinion They had the car for a week. No warning lights, and did another diagnostic and nothing showed at the time. Brought the car home. After a few months waiting for warning sign or other signs it took a couple of few months for the engine light to come on and it slowed down and came to a stop. Had car towed to Honda. Called Honda corporate. After finding out they weren't going to cover the cost of $5000+ knowing this has absolutely nothing to do with the customer being negligent with car. I can not afford that kind of money and had it towed to the same mechanic where we are still waiting for the parts to come in from Honda factory and it's been in his possession for 2 weeks. I had to get a rental which Honda would not cover. There is no way that a car that is 5years old under 80,000 miles should have engine work unless it was not cared for properly. I have proof of continuous maintenance. I should not be held reliable for malfunction parts on the car and other Hondas are having the same issues. It was very dangerous and scary having the car shake when driving and not being abled to accelerate on the gas with no warning of any. I had it towed 2x to 3x waiting and praying that Honda will be responsible.
I have 2018 Honda accord which has been recall About 3 weeks my car my car start skipping, when I was driving it so the 12/18/23 all the lights came on and the car started jerking around so I took it to the dealer and they told me found crack in spark plug They replaced the spark plugs adjusted the valve The car started jerking again on 12/25 /23 I took it to the dealer they told me the head is cracked and the spark plug is cracked different cylinder The brake and ACC radar light is still on and needs to be replace I send you all the invoices and work needs to be done to the Honda Corporation! But they are refusing to do their job and help me This happens to my car because of the The fuel pump issue with this year model I hold you the Honda Corporation responsible what happened to my car ! It is on theme to fix and reimburse me for the money that I I already spent and I need my car to be repairs as soon as possible and I need replacement car for me until my car is fixed! But the Honda Corporation is saying they’re not able to help me They are trying to play the game with me Tell me that car has this problem because it has 113000 miles on it But my issue with Honda is that manufacture issues with fuel pump That why my car has this problem Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My 2018 Honda Accord has not been able to drive properly the emergency brake signs has come on repeatedly stating it will not work , the car has decreased speed and ever since the recall notification came on Wednesday 12/20/2023 it does not drive anymore. I do have adequate fluids, gas etc however it will not drive. I called Honda Parkville in Maryland and was told there's nothing they can do. I would like to know what do I do next
My Honda Accord 2018 with 49,000+ Mileage suddenly showed multiple warning lights on the dashboard causing Parking Break to malfunction; ACC, Collision Assist malfunctions and many other warning lights appeared. I brought it to Honda Waldorf Maryland and they told me it was definitely the 2 Rear Calipers as they diagnosed, but this DID NOT solve the problem after replacements. After about 3 days with my vehicle still with them, they told me that it was the Module that is malfunctioning; I can no longer refuse them because my car has been there for several days and it's only the Honda that can fix this as the service rep stated and I really need my car. On the other hand, I checked Honda website and called them that there are recalls on the Honda Accord 2018 - 2020 Modules. Unfortunately, my VIN is not included even it clearly states that Honda Accord 2018 is included as stated on their website (see attachments).

I was driving slow to a 4 way st and slowly had a car pass across me so far away and it passed and all of a sudden emergency break and slam on break by itself causing the passenger in my car to hurt them self ... I was unable to control this accident so bad!!!!
Starting in Sept 2023, while pulling out of a park in a garage, my car started throwing numerous warning messages in the dashboard regarding emissions, ABS, Brake System, Power Steering, etc with the Check Engine Light staying steady. I took it to one Honda dealership who after 'diagnosing' claimed it was the fuel injectors needing to be replaced. The car wasn't jerking or sputtering so I took the car to another mechanic who also didn't believe it was the fuel injectors and felt it was electrical. Took the car to another Honda dealership and they claimed the same thing about injectors. After having a reputable mechanic do software updates that the original or 2nd Honda dealership NEVER checked for (it needed 4 updates, but one of them couldn't be done for LKAS). Most of the warnings went away due to the updates but the LKAS warning and collision warning remained. So I took the car to Safelite (they had replaced my windshield back in July and back then they were able to recalibrate the sensor) BUT this time (Oct 2023) not only were they not able to recalibrate the LKAS, they said the front camera was not communicating with the system and this was an electrical problem and I have to go back to the dealership. After reading NUMEROUS complaints and similar issues in regards to the LKAS, this multiple warnings AND the car ghost braking on its own every now and then months before this, I hope you all really look into this and do a recall or find a solution on this car. Now I am forced to go back to the Honda dealership and will have to threaten them to do their job this time and really look at the car and not just tell me it is needing fuel injectors replaced. The car drives, no jerking, no sputtering, but not having a front camera talking to the system and now the TPMS system keeps saying i have low tire pressure and won't let me calibrate even though my tires are at the optimal 32 level stated in the manual, I fear more issues are going to pop up soon.

When going under an overpass, my cars automatic braking system senses the shadow from the bridge as something in font of me and my car slams on brakes. No incidents have occurred at this time. It has happened at least 10 times and each time no one has been behind me. If there were someone behind me they would rear end me. I explained my concern to Flow Honda in Burlington and they suggested turning the feature off each time I start my car since there was no recall.
A car merged into my lane, the car braking light went on and a beeping noise sounded. After the car in front of us turned and nothing was in front of us, our Honda Broke abruptly and if it wasn’t for the seatbelt I think I would’ve hit the windshield. My daughter is afraid to get In the car because of this incident.
Random braking. Freeways or side streets. Fast or slow. Usually it seems to happen in school zones. Nobody in front of me or to the side. Problem comes with braking by itself, is that I almost get rear-ended. People are always trying to push me faster than speed limit. I surprised it hasn't happened YET. Been doing it since new. Had at dealer to lookat it few times. It just got frustrating. They can't replicate. That's the problem. It's RANDOM. Almost got rear-ended today. That is why I'm writing this today 10/16/2023. Been needing to do it for awhile.
For the last couple of weeks, a bunch of warnings pop up related addaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking and so on. The car ACC would stop working and car would auto brake without hitting brakes. I have checked online and see NHTSA has identified this issue but no action was taken. I am scared for my safety in this vehicle as well as my family. This issue needs to be fixed soon.

Every warning light is turned on my vehicle. Dealer said it’s the fuel injectors however riverside is out of stock. Due to fuel injectors my line assist, emergency collision and cruise control does not work. Parts are not available on any auto zone or any other car part dealers. I’m worried my car might start a fire or some type of mechanical failure during my driving. Online shows multiple people having the same issue and recommends not buying a Honda. Please help, thank you

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to park the vehicle on the side of the highway; additionally, the hazard lights failed to work. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact of a faulty START/STOP switch. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle sporadically applied the brakes independently. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and the hazard lights failed to function. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the START/STOP switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,336.

Automobile automatically, abruptly and forcefully applied the brake during normal driving. No apparent obstacle appeared that should have caused this behavior. However, the time this occurred was late in the day and long shadows of trees and shrubs were crossing the road at the time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Driver was driving 40 mph on a suburban road with other drivers behind and to the side of the vehicle. Safety was put at risk as other drivers had to react abruptly to avoid a collision with and in reaction to the subject vehicle's stopping without apparent reason. Problem has occurred more than one time, including today being the most recent incident. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Only message displayed with BRAKE in large flashing letters (black and yellow characters/background) while the car was braking automatically. Braking lasted approximately 1 to 1.5 seconds and brakes were released before vehicle came to a full stop.
"Supplemental restraint system failure" warning is intermittently illuminated in the dashboard. It comes on when the car is in drive, moving down the road, and when the car is in park. Warning goes on and off randomly. Dealership couldn't tell me what the problem was. Just suggested I replace the (very expensive) module to see if that works. On 4 different occasions the emergency brake system has gone off and the car has slammed on it's breaks while driving 50-55mph down the road with no object/ vehicle in front of it. Thankfully no one has been behind me when this has happened because I would definitely have been rear-ended if they were.
Car randomly brakes while driving
The vehicle keeps stating the brake mitigation, acc, and other various Honda sensor features need to be repaired and to contact a dealer. The vehicle de-accelerates on its home and doesn’t allow any of the Honda sense features to work. All the components of the dash are triggered at once. Most of the time the vehicle drives fine without the use of the Honda sense features. I have brought this to Honda and they state they don’t see any issues known to cause this problem. Short of the fact they never seem to happen when I bring it to the dealership. Most of the time this goes away on its own but lately the problems are lasting days. I don’t feel safe driving my own vehicle which has been greatly maintained.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), TPMS, anti-theft system, braking system, and traction control warning lights illuminated, and the messages "Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem. See Sealer", "Road Departure Mitigation. See Dealer" were displayed. The contact stated that the adaptive cruise control (ACC) mode, the Econ mode, and Sport mode were inoperable. The contact stated that she turned off and restarted the vehicle, and attempted to reset the vehicle herself; however, the failure persisted. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,697.

While driving at 35-40 mph the AEB braking system activated without cause. There was no vehicle, person or object in front of the car so the sensor should not have activated. The car braked without warning very abruptly. This has happened several times and I have reported to this site at least two other occasions in similar nature.
while driving in highway, all dash light slit up like a Christmas Tree and vehicle lost power. I was not able to go over 30 mph and was in danger of being rear ended on freeway. I was able to pull over to safety and turn vehicle off. Upon restarting the vehicle, I was able to make it back home. This has happened on 3-4 diff occasions. Honda is not accepting responsibility. They continuously refer me to Honda dealer to be ripped off for a diagnostic. There are several forums online complaining about the same issue. My battery and alternator is good. Please help and hold Honda accountable to their negligence in the build of these vehicles.
3 Incidents of auto braking without a car being in front of me. My vehicle abruptly applied the brakes from underneath my foot so hard, that myself and passengers jerked forward. This almost caused the vehicle behind me to run into me. I now drive with extreme caution wondering when will it happen again. It's not safe for anyone to be in my vehicle especially young children in car seats such as my nephew and granddaughter.
I was traveling on interstate 65 in alabama running about 70 mph when suddenly the brakes slammed on automatically. The car behind me had to swerve over in the next lane to keep from hitting me from behind. this is the 3rd time this has happened but this last time almost caused a wreck. i AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR NOW. The dealer kept the car for 2 days but could not reproduce this . the dash board started flashing brake. All 3 times there was no car in front or beside me.
On about 7-10 occasions since purchasing car new, the automatic braking system will engage brakes for no reason. These have all been in cuise control mode and with no cars in front of me. It is a very hard braking and a many of the times on interstates going 70 MPH. Have no idea why it does this, but definitely feel it is unsafe and makes me wary of this situation happening in the future (as I'm sure it will).
1. The Collision Mitigation Breaking System is braking for no reason, at random times while driving 2. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when driving on an open road, cars behind me may not have time to break and this could result in an accident. Not to mention, there's nothing in front of my vehicle, so normal things on the road don't cause drivers to assume a car with suddenly brake 3. Yes, the issues been confirmed but I'm expected to pay for it when this has been recalled on several other models 4. This has been happening for the last several months. I put a note in my car to turn off the sensor but as of today, my vehicle will not let me turn off the sensor anymore

When I am driving, the car turns off in the middle of the road and this warning message appears: Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem See Your Dealer. I took it to the dealer. They changed the battery, but the problem still occurs. This is dangerous because the car cut off in the middle of the road where you can get rear ended.

I was driving my vehicle on an open highway. There were no road hazards or other vehicles in front of me when my car slammed on the brakes. The brakes caution light flashed and beeped on my dashboard and the car slammed on the brakes. If I had another vehicles behind me I would have been rear ended. This is the 3rd time my vehicle has done this since I purchased it.

I was driving on a road with no other cars around at about 40 miles an hour and the collision mitigation system flashed the brake signal a few times and tried to stop very suddenly. I pushed on the gas to fight it and it released the brake.

the vehicle has faults on the dashboard, all the warning lights come on and there are functions that do not work when they are on.
On April 7 at 1230p I was driving about 45 mph on Lindbergh Blvd in Creve Coeur. As I was moving into a construction area there was a sign to lower speed to 35. I lowered my speed with my brakes and at the same time traveled over a metal plate on the road. After I let up on the brakes there was an immediate very jarring breakage done without my foot on brake as I went over the plating. The abrupt braking was so severe that all of the belongs on both front passenger and back seats all fell to the floor. There is no doubt in my mind that if there was a car behind me they would ran right into me. After going over the plating the braking system was released and my regular driving ability resumed. I would be afraid to try to reproduce this problem. Since owning the car I have had about 5 less severe problems with this automatic braking system on this same road with the system sensing something that was not there (I thought it was a policeman's radar) with a very very short and less severe automatic braking. I did not not notice any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem .
I down loaded my update through the radio. It said complete. I went into the house and the next morning I started it and a bunch of warning lights were on and have stayed on. I can not use some of the buttons on the drivers door, I can not use my key fob unless it is touching the start stop button, I can not open the trunk, the gas cap will not open, and most of all I have lost some power to the interior fuse box. This car is only 5 years old almost to the date and it has had multiple recalls already. I want the BCM reprogrammed and fixed so all this will go away.
The vehicle's safety system (not sure if it's the camera mounted behind the windshield or something else) will periodically interpret a road speed sign as showing 100mph speed limit. This has happened before and will have happened again (I am filing this complaint after some time has passed). As with a number of other issue with the 2018+ Honda models, Honda's response has been "take it to the dealer" while the dealer's mechanic drives the car for an hour, does not see the issue and then claims that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. A picture is attached.
The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Honda CEO recently claimed that Honda will be producing Level 3 autonomous vehicles. That is horrifying, considering Honda can't even make a CMBS and a Radar Sensor that does not fail constantly. Please, please, please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.

Hence, she lied. Please.
The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. In this case, there was "phantom braking", whereby the car abruptly applied breaks without an abstruction in fron of the vehicle. I have filed several complaints with NHTSA and, yes, "have taken the vehicle to the dealer" more than once for issues with the CMBS, to no avail. Not only that, but since then, there has been a class action lawsuit against Honda for the related issue(s). Yet, NHTSA still has not issued a recall on all the CRVs, Accords, Pilots and Odysseys which all use similar version of this system.

I've filed the specific issues in other complaints, but also wanted to input this for a record. After taking the card to the dealer, the dealer DID NOT address any of the following: Right door speaker rattle Engine squeak (when shutting off) Hood vibration Did not troubleshoot the smell coming from the ventilation system. Did not apply the fix (if there was one) for the infotainment unit restarting abruptly. Did not look at as to why the display shows 100mph speed limit when there is no such thing in the the state of Colorado (that I know of and certainly not where I was driving when this happened). Did not look at why the aux display has issues Did not look at Bluetooth connectivity issues. Did not look at problems with radar and the CMBS system. Of course, the usual response is "we drove it for an hour (if that) and did not see anything."
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle abruptly stopped with unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The contact stated that at the time of the incident, the automatic braking system engaged by itself most likely due to the fact that a car was really close to the vehicle and possibly sensed danger.

I have had a few instances where I was driving and the brake warning light started flashing and the car broke. This latest incident was today and it was extremely dangerous and scary. I was driving and no one was driving in front of me the car warning brake light flashed and the car came to a complete stop, the car behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me from behind and I wasn’t even able to press on the gas to move until after a few seconds!!
I was using the cruise control feature while driving and it gave multiple errors. It happens each time I use the cruise control feature and assisted driving feature. The errors it gives are: 1. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. See Your Dealer. 2.Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem. See Your Dealer. 3. Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem. See Your Dealer. I have also been driving and it breaks by itself and there is nothing in from of the vehicle. It was an orange flat plate on the road for construction. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer but they say it’s all normal.

While I was driving down Highway 101 near Mountain View near the Shoreline off-ramp, the vehicle's CBMS activated at highway speed even though there was no car in front of me. The weather was cloudy but visibility was good. The vehicle displayed "BRAKE" together with a warning sound, and the car suddenly decelerated. Luckily there was no car behind me, since the sudden braking could have easily caused an accident. I can confirm that this is repeatable -- on three occasions, the CBMS engaged at the exact same place where there was some surface imperfection in the road (due to recent asphalt patching). I had to step on the accelerator immediately to ensure the car behind me didn't rear end my car. I've read reports about the Honda Accord 2018 having this potential defect and wanted to make sure this report is filed, especially because it is repeatable. For now I've had to disable the vehicle CBMS to prevent an accident from occurring.
The car out of no where breaks while driving and thinks it’s been involved in a collision.
ALL dashboard warning lights come on.(brakes, VSC, steering, etc) Message says take to dealer. After doing a Google search, it appears to be a COMMON ISSUE for Honda Accords for 2018 and newer. They will come on and either stay on for days/weeks at a time and then just go off on their own. Dealer has no solution.

Engine misfire causing limp mode. Dealer says head gasket blown. When misfire happens, all driver safety system warnings display. Car goes into limp mode which is dangerous if on high speed road. First appeared Oct-10-2022 with 59k miles on vehicle. Second appeared Nov-29-2022 with 60,300 miles on vehicle. Honda refuses to cover expense of replaceing head gasket and determining root cause.

All of my safety features in my car when it comes to driving down the road have completely failed. Adaptive cruise control lane assist brake system errors. The car just stops in the middle of the road. And it will pull the car the car to the left or right thinking that there’s something in the road and there’s not it’s very dangerous.

While driving in stop and go traffic on the highway with the adaptive cruse control system enabled the system will suddenly stop working. A message appears on the dashboard information panel "Braking Mitigation System Error/Failure: Bring to Dealer". This has occurred twice in 2022, and once or twice in 2021. When the car is turned off, then restarted, the system appears to reset itself. I brought the car to the dealership, they ran a "Diagnostic" and told me they detected software errors and needed to do a "Flash" reset, and that it was not covered under warranty. I contacted the Honda Corporation and provided my service records, and details of the incident. They were lacking in enthusiasm to investigate the issue, as they were more interested in informing me that the vehicle was over the 36,000 mile warranty period. There was no collision, but that does mean there won't be in the if there is a software malfunction with the Braking Mitigation System. I feel the Honda Corporation is not taking this safety issue seriously.
Well I've had the car for about a year now and it has been good for the first few months, then I ran into a snag. All the orange warning lights for my safety features popped up and the vehicle was applying the brakes on its own. So I took it to the dealership and they told me it was a taillight, so I spent 500 bucks on one. Well after a month it's started to do it again this time worse, and it got so bad. I've had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car because it kept braking while on the highway. Fast forward months down today and it's still doing it except much much worse. I tried to trade it in because I don't feel safe with vehicle anymore. But where I owe so much on it they won't let me get something else, so I'm stuck with it. I've made an appointment to see if they could check it out but at this point I just want it paid off and I want something else.

One day all the car warning lights came on. After I backed out of the driveway, I placed the car in drive and tried to accelerate. When I stepped on the gas pedal the car barely accelerated. It barely moved. I turned of the engine and turned it back on again and the car was ok again, but this keeps happening from time to time. I've had the car checked a few times, but mechanics weren't sure what's wrong with the car. They keep getting a misfire code on number one, but after checking the spark plugs they said nothing is wrong with the spark plugs.
While driving at highway speeds the automatic emergency braking will trigger. First the flashing of the dash and then the audible beeping and then the car brakes very hard and then releases without anyone ahead of me.
WHILE DRIVING, ON THREE ACCOUNTS MY HONDS ACCORD INDEPENDENTLY APPLIED BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON GAS PETAL. THE CAR SLOWED JERKED AND STOPPED. IT REGAINED SPEED AFTER I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OR BACK OR IN BACK OF THE CAR.NO WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. OUR AND OTHERS SAFTY WAS AT RISK WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH NO INPUT FROM DRIVER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED TWICE BY WESTBROOK HONDA WHERE IT WAS BOUHGT NEW. THEY INSTALLED NEW BRAKES ON THE CAR WITH 20 THOUSAND MILES DRIVEN SAYING THIS WAS NORMAL. NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN SUGGESTED OTHER THAN THERE WERE LEAVES IN THE WAY OF THE CAMERA. THEY DROVE THE CAR WITH NO ISSUE AND TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM .
With no object in front of the vehicle, the early warning braking system will activate and apply brakes. This is a very serious failure in the system. I have been able to avoid accidents only due to no cars being behind me when these brakes are applied. This is very dangerous at all speeds, but more so higher speeds.

Automatic braking has randomly come on, causing harm or injury to those traveling in the vehicle. The few times that is has engaged has never been due to a close vehicle or object in front of the car.
Braking system caused my daughter to have an accident. My 2018 Honda Accord sport has been braking on its own for quite some time now. I attempted to turn off all safety features but somehow missed the braking system feature. The car will brake on its own with nothing in front of it. It will give beeping noises and flash “brake” on the dashboard. On 10/12/2022 my daughter was on the interstate, the roads were wet with heavy traffic. She called me saying that she had an accident. The officer stated that speeding played a part in causing the accident. My daughter said the car just started beeping and she noticed she was going to slow in traffic so she preceded to get in the right lane. Upon doing so she said that my car just started spinning and she took her foot off the gas and never applied pressure to the brakes. She ended up on the other side of the road hitting a guard rail. I feel like the braking system played a huge part in this accident.
The sensor is located under the license plate, and because of it being so low, anything that hits it on the road, such as a rock or insects, the sensor gets triggered. There’s no protective cap on it. And every single light turns on the dash. Such as the collision, lane departure, brake system and cruise control.

While driving the vehicle loses power in traffic or on highway. The brakes won’t stop and the gas won’t accelerate. It’s like the car dies the light all come on reading warnings Break mitigation system, Break ABS loss of engine power. I have had this looked at by the dealership and they just replaced the battery and the problem keeps occurring. I’m scared as I travel with small children. I hope this matter is looked into because it cause myself and other having the same issue a serious accident.
Periodically, at various speeds while driving, the “Brake” light will flash and sound on the dashboard, and there’s nothing in front of me. It causes the vehicle to brake and slow down drastically. It happens more often while driving at freeway speeds on the freeway. The vehicle will also light up with “Lane Departure” and will self correct when there is no need. I was informed by the dealer service department that “It probably was a glare from the sun or there was a reflection that caught the sensor to cause it to brake and do that.” It would happen at different times if the day.

While driving using ACC, the warning message “Crash mitigation not working” comes on out of nowhere and the cruise control stops working. This has happened multiple times. Also, About a month ago, my whole left side of the dash completely stopped working. CAM DTC are the error codes and cruise control and necessary functions just stopped working all together. It feels very unsafe and unreliable.

driving and without any vehicles nearby the brake lights came on and car brakes activated to a hard stop.
While I was driving at 45mph and there was no vehicle/object in the object, Automatic Emergency Braking was applied and released. Luckily there wasn't any vehicle right behind otherwise I could have been rear ended. This whole experience was quite shocking and it took me a while to recover from it.
Hi my car the date Monday 12 September 2022. The car don't start and on the display is warning. Brake system problem. Parking brake not available. Brake performance may be reduced. The rear right caliper side is all broken complete internally. This is a real safety problem.
I was driving on the highway at about 45 mph when the car suddenly came to a stop without my touching the brake ( It wasn't as if the brakes were slammed on: the stop was relatively smooth but quick}. When I tried to use the accelerator to speed up, there was no response. I was unable to pull off the highway. I'm not sure what I did next, but I think I touched the brake. Within about 30 seconds I was able to resume using the accelerator. I don't think this was operator error. I drive this car infrequently, and it operates differently from the Tesla that I usually drive. But I don't think I was the cause of this.
I have noticed a few times, at least 3 I can recall in the past year I’ve had the vehicle. The most recent being, i had just merged into a left lane. Traffic was light as it was around 8am going the opposite direction of heavy traffic and I was taking my child to school, and my car suddenly jerked like a hard brake motion. I could also hear what sounded like the abs trying to stop the car, kind of like thump but followed by a deep grinding sound like when you suddenly slam on the brakes. I looked to my side and there was no cars near me just the vehicle that was a few cars ahead of me and no one behind. The car was drove fine after that but it worries me that it could do it at the wrong time.
I have had this vehicle since June 2018 and I have not had any issues until the last month or so. The first incident happened while driving to work and it was raining, when I turned into the parking lot a number of warnings started going off : Electric Parking Brake System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Electric Power Steering System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem. Parked my car, went in my office and called the dealership. They told me it was most likely because of the rain and that the issue should resolve on it's own. By lunch time it had stopped raining, went to get lunch and the warnings were gone, but now when accelerating I would lose power. So I go the the dealership, they check to see what the issue is and they can't find anything. Told me to come back if it does it again. Few weeks later, driving down the interstate going 75 and I start losing speed for no reason and car almost crashes into me due to the dramatic decrease in speed and once again all the warnings are back on - but it's not raining this time! Honda can't find any issues and I'm so frustrated because it's a danger to me!

I have a 2018 Honda Accord 2.0. Twice it left me stranded on the side of the road due to a failing fuel pump. the first time it kicked back on after an hour and all the lights turned off so they said a diagnostic cannot be performed. The second time I was driving in the middle of the road and the engine cut off and would not start, luckily I had some space to pull over but I was still in traffic and I called a tow truck. It took 6 1/2 hours to finally get it to the Honda dealership and they told me my fuel pump had failed and there is a recall for 2018 2.0s but not my specific Vin so I have to cover the cost. It’s $1055 plus taxes even though there’s an active recall for other 2018 2.0‘s but not my exact vehicle. The part is on back order and can take up to a month they are providing no service car and no help on the recall.
Extended highway driving(500+miles). Collision Mitigation Problem continues to show as alert in dash. Does seem to reset when vehicle turned off and back on but this is not a new problem and a major reason for purchase
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance sensor activated independently, causing the vehicle to stall. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his destination. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,593.

I Honda Accord recently has been displaying up to 17 error messages out of the blue. It doesn’t matter if I’m going 30 mph or 80 mph. It happens randomly and there is a power loss associated with it. It is happened to me on the highway and was extremely scary. I have disconnected the battery and the lights will go off for a little bit but randomly Sometimes the same day sometimes a day after all of the lights will come back on and all of the safety feature shut off. i’ve spoke with Honda and they have no known understanding of this happening but there are many many forums of this happening between multiple models of their vehicles around the 2018 range.
On July 31st, 2022 at approximately 1135AM Central Time on I-90 westbound near Dekorra, WI when passing a tow truck in the middle lane as I was in the right most lane the Automatic Emergency Brake system sounded visual and audio alerts urging me to a *Brake Now*. Adaptive Cruise Control was engaged at approximately 73mph.
My vehicle has activated the collision avoidance/emergency braking on numerous occasions for no reason. I have taken it to my local Honda dealer for this problem, and since they cannot recreate it, they claim there is no problem. It generally happens when there are lines in the road, or a change in the color or the road surface. It happened again last week while I was traveling on US 301 near Maxville Fl. There is road resurfacing going on, therefore one lane is a lighter asphalt, and the other lane is dark. I was going about 60 mph, changed lanes, and the car slammed on the brakes and displayed the brake warning on the instrument panel. Fortunately, no one was behind me. This is the typical behavior of the car when it happens

Driving at 70 mph on interstate 74 in cruise control the vehicle automatically braked on its own nearly causing a rear end collision by the semi following. Vehicle then proceeded to de-rate down to 40 mph and would not accelerate beyond this causing us to drive down the highway with our hazards on over an hour home. Additionally, after making it home every warning lights for adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, power steering assist, lane keep assist, etc. continue to come on and off. Vehicle was just at the local Honda dealership where they did a recalibration, to which I just picked up and within 10 miles of driving the vehicle every warning light is back in and vehicle de-rated again. Vehicle is very unsafe to drive and at this point a danger to myself, family and others on the road.

I had taken my vehicle in to dealership on multiple occasions for the vehicle stating “road departure mitigation system problem” multiple times and every time I was told there wasn’t an issue. Eventually the system completely stopped working and the dealership wanted to charge me over $3,000 because I was about 5,000 miles over warranty. I never fixed it. 2 years it hasn’t worked until one day my car randomly braked on its own as the system just started working out of no where almost causing an accident. Thankfully no one hit me from behind. But then it yet again isn’t working. Seems a default that continues to happen. And I’m worried it will happen again with my child in the back and someone slamming into me due to a system issue on the vehicle. I also included other errors that have occurred with this same issue but it goes away and didn’t happen as often as the collision mitigation issue. I put 2 months ago because that’s when the car randomly braked on me while driving on a busy road and that system is suppose to be “out” not working at all. But this all happened over 2 years ago when it went out and dealer said I didn’t need it for my vehicle to work correctly. dealership has all paperwork for everytime I took in the vehicle to have it looked at for this

I got a Collision Mitigation Braking System warning while driving at a high speed > 60 mph on the Interstate with adaptive cruise control turned on. The system suddenly cuts off speed and lost cruise control. I have to stop on road side, turn off the car and restart it for the warning go away.
Four incidents of car braking on its own. Three on highway and one in town. On highway no other vehicle was near us.
The car’s Collision Mitigation system stops working for no reason, causing me to completely lose my cruise control until I can turn off the car and restart it. This has happened in stop-and-go traffic on the Interstate while the car is under the control of the adaptive cruise control as well as while driving down the road with absolutely no other cars around me. Suddenly the system cuts off and the Collision Mitigation Warning message comes on. The Honda dealership has no response to this. I have had the car since September 2021, and this occurs approximately 3 times per month.

Collision Mitigation braking system has engaged several times while driving in the city and Highway when there are no obstructions. Speeds vary from 35mph to 60mph.
Cmbs lights came on and power steering, after that low air pressure on tire
Quite simply we were driving through a construction zone that was down to one lane with monitored traffic. My wife was driving and approaching a steel plate in the road that was laid on top of existing asphalt. While slowing down to move over the plate at a slower rate of speed the automatic breaking brought the car to an unnecessary stop almost causing a collision from behind. This was super scary and alarming. Will this happen if we are going 35, 55, 70 mph?
The vehicle on two separate occasions has out of the blue completely engaged in an automatic emergency braking when there is no reason to and no other vehicles on the road. Most Recently I went to merge on the highway, there was no traffic infront of me and it was sunny and daytime. The vehicle engaged the emergency braking very aggressively and my car went from 65-35 quickly. There was a car and semi truck behind me I could see in my rear view mirror, they almost ran into the back of me. In the moment I tried hitting the gas pedal to speed back up while braking was still happening and the car would not allow me to accelerate or speed up until the ‘braking’ portion was over. This is happened numerous times going on on ramps and then randomly driving down the road, and not when there’s a reason to emergency brake. Three months ago when I got the vehicle I was driving down the highway and the system randomly disengaged and every single warning light for the braking system and Ford collision came on. I pulled over and called Honda, when I restarted the car all of the lights and everything went away. I’m in multiple Honda Accord groups and apparently this is a very common issue with these cars just wanted to add that as well

Going about 10mph down a side street when emergency brake automatically caused my car to stop but nothing was in front of me. Car came to a complete abrupt stop which jolted me forward, but then resumed driving like normal. Yes available for inspection as it has not been taken in or inspected for this problem, it only happened once. No warning message prior. If this would have happened on a busy street, it could have easily caused an accident.
Two times while driving on the highway at 75-80 mph with CMBS system on and utilizing ACC. Out of nowhere, vehicle drops speed, ACC OFF notice comes on and an alert stating Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem. See dealer pops up. . At this point, I have to quickly react to increase speed on gas pedal and avoid someone hitting me from behind. I am not able to re-engage the ACC the remainder of the travel. After turning off the vehicle, the CMBS resets and ACC is available again. This is not possible to do while driving on a highway. The second time it happened, I was changing lanes into the passing lane on left and I seriously could have been hit due to my speed deceleration. I took the vehicle straight to the dealer and the guy checking me in said they get a lot of those system errors. This is not reassuring! They ran a diagnostic, step by step the advisor said, only to say the system shows no issue. This is not acceptable to me as I do not feel safe driving. In addition, the lane keeping assist LKAS feature also malfunctions. When there are shadows on the road, my car wants to swerve and steer me incorrectly. My car also will display a giant orange BRAKE warning when nothing is in front of me. One time it braked so hard that my seatbelt locked up and everything on my passenger seat slid off the seat. Thankfully, nobody was immediately behind me because I could have been hit for the sudden and unanticipated braking.

Many times since I have purchased my 2018 Accord Touring 1.5T - I have found that sometimes my car will slam on the brakes when doing a lane change. I kind of found that It will do this if I dont have my turn signal indicator on. It is extremely stressful when it does this on the Interstate doing 65 or 70 MPH's. I try to slam the accelerator to the floor when this happens for fear of getting hit from behind. If this normal or a safety defect?
Driving down at approximately 20-30 mph on a clear day. Vehicle in front of me was turning left and I was going straight so I veered right. Vehicle turns on orange brake sign on dash and suddenly pressed the brakes full stop. Good thing no one was behind me. Automatic braking can only be turned off via a physical button on left side and changing settings on dash. This is a frequent problem that happends atleast ones a month.
I had owned a 2018 Honda Accord which I had purchased in 2019. I had owned the car for about 6 months when the situation occurred. I had been about 30-50 before a railroad track and had already slowed down to 30-35 mph at this point. My dash lit up with the word 'brake' and the brakes went on automatically. There was nothing in front of me but the approaching train track which shouldn't set off the sensing function. I had a truck behind me which thankfully didn't hit me although he did blare his horn at me due to the unexpected braking. I went home and started looking online to see if other honda owners had similar experiences. There were stories from driving down the freeway going 70+ mph and having the same issue with nothing in front of them and coming to a complete stop to people having accidents because of the braking issues, etc. The next day, I called Honda and they stated that they were aware of the issues but were not planning on issuing a recall. I called the dealership and spoke to the manager and stated that I was going to return the car that day. He asked if they could check out the brake situation and I stated if Honda knows of the issue but is not planning a recall, then what is the mechanic at the dealership going to fix? I declined his offer and returned the car that evening. When I got to the dealership, the manager wouldn't even come and face me, which was another issue. I sunk money into a faulty car that I will never see back. I went to a different dealership and bought a different brand of car. To this day, if I see another Honda in front of me while driving, I let off of the gas because knowing the braking issue that I had, I don't want to be involved in an accident if they other Honda driver has braking issues.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The vehicle gave me a warning for the emergency breaking and began to aggressively brake for no reason. This has happened to me three separate times. Case 1: There were no cars in front of me, a few cars behind but not too close. The vehicle slammed on the breaks from ~50mph to ~25mph aggressively. Thankfully I was not hit, only received a few angry honks from other drivers. Case 2: Driving on the highway at 60-65mph, vehicle slowed down to 30-35mph or so, i was afraid i was going to end up in the hospital if i caused a wreck. Cars were around in other lanes and nobody was in front of me in the 2nd lane. I got off the highway to take a few deep breaths, called the Honda Dealership in Ferndale, Michigan. Dropped my car off a few times to get it looked at, the service department was "unable to duplicate the event" and sent me on my way. I work in front camera modules/windshields releasing at another automotive company so i have experience with this item. I asked for my case to be forwarded to an engineer at honda to help explain the situation and to be connected to them, no luck. Case 3 similar to case 1, but a busier road. Distance was kept from vehicle in front, but my vehicle still decided to "break-check" the car behind me. This was a close one. Now, I typically drive the vehicle with the auto braking feature off (it may not be completely off but i turned it off from the steering wheel menu options). I own a 2018 Honda Accord EX-L 2.0t. All these cases happened around 28,000miles-40,000miles (two of three cases under warranty, vehicle was taken in 2-3 times during warranty and the last time the dearlership didn't even consider trying to find out the issue once they saw my history of already bringing it in). The front camera module camera void on the windshield was clean and clear 3of3 times, the grille had some dirt/residue 1of3 times which is what the dealership blamed it on. I have received no support for my claims, hence I am reporting it here. Disappointed...
My 2018 Honda Accord brake automatically when it’s nothing in front of me, this has happen 3 times without any car in front of me.The car behind me like to hit me because my car put on brakes automatically.
When driving on the freeway (>50mph) with no obstacles visible in front of me, the Forward Collision System will occasionally cause the HUD to rapidly flash and warn me to “BRAKE”. It will display this message for a couple of seconds before disappearing. I have noticed that this has a higher chance of occurring when I am driving towards the sun.
Three times now I have been driving with no obstructions in front of me and the Automatic Emergency Braking System has flashed "BRAKE" on the dash and then slammed the brakes on. One of the times, I was on the freeway going approximately 60 mph. Everything on the seat next to me went flying and my seatbelt locked, hurting me (I did not see a doctor as it was not necessary). There were no cars or obstructions in front of me. This could have caused a bad accident had someone been behind me at the time. The other two times, people were able to brake in time so as to not cause an accident. This was terrifying. I took it to our local Honda dealership and they simply said everything looks fine and maybe the sensor was dirty. My car was clean at the time on the freeway, and I don't recall if it was the other two times. I did not have my insurance or police look over the car as there was no accident and no need to contact them. But the actual dealership DID look over the car. It all happened suddenly with no warning and no need. The only "warning lamp" was it flashing "BRAKE" on the dash immediately before it slammed on the brakes each time.
2018 Honda Accord 1.5Turbo LX - Fuel Injector Failure at 58,600 - diagnosed at Honda Superstore of Lisle, IL. As a result car has low power, all safety features are deactivated, and emission system is malfunctioning. Submitting this issue as HONDA has had several other models with early fuel injector failure which it has recalled in the past. Please contact me if a fuel injector recall is issued for my car.
While driving 35mph and accelerating, emergency braking system deployed. The lights on the dash and audible beeps presented simultaneously. There were no other cars on the road other than a parked vehicle off to the drivers side. Vehicle slowed to around 5mph before releasing. No accident occurred. Honda dealership stated no active recalls were noted and an appointment would take several weeks based on the labor shortages.
On four different occasions vehicle applied the brakes on it’s own while changing lanes. as if there was a hazard in front, however there were no vehicles in front of my vehicle.
Routine and ongoing false and nuisance braking warnings from collision mitigation system. Triggering of the warning is presumably a precursor to erroneous activation of automatic braking.
I was driving on interstate behind line of trucks in construction zone at 55mph. It was raining lightly. When zone ended, I pulled into left lane and accelerated to 70 mph. A semi truck in right lane pulled in front of me, I braked to avoid hitting it. I got within 1-2 car length of semi and suddenly car braked on its own. Brakes fully locked up. I tried to accelerate after car slowed a lot (down 15-20 mph) and considerable distance opened up between us. Car would not allow me to regain ability to accelerate. Car brakes remained locked up until car slid to complete stop in left lane. Car then allowed me to again accelerate. Unknown if braking indicator activated. No trouble lights were illuminated. Almost hit by vehicle behind that had to maneuver to avoid. Have noticed other issues where brakes briefly automatically apply when passing large vehicle in right lane. This seems to be happening more frequently in past year.
I had several incidents where Honda automatically brake without reason. I was driving 75mph and without reason it fully brake and bring my car to complete stop leaving cars to emergency brake. I recently had multiple occasions where it again brake automatically with nothing block in front of the car. The dashboard shows Lane Departure warning, but I am leaving my lane and it automatically brakes unexpectedly. This car must be recalled for safety of everyone on the road!!!
Certain roads on my commute have hills where automatic braking has engaged and almost caused accidents over past year. Also, vehicles crossing in front of me or changing lanes when I have full view, car has braked hard. These incidents have happened at least 8 times in past year. I shouldn't have to disengage safety in order to be safe.
Driving no other car in front of me and my car brake and Pulled to the side. Very scary with my children in the car. My car has sounded as if there was going to brake before without anything if front of me but this time it jerked and pulled to the side. Now I’m going to have to disable this feature on my car as I do not want to be in a accident by because of my vehicle defect.
Car accident head on emergency break didn’t work bad injuries.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance feature engaged without incident with the brakes warning light flashing on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

I am getting warnings of brake system problems including electric parking brake problem says it’s not available, brake hold system problem, brake performance reduced. Adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation problem, and road departure mitigation problem. The car has slowed down on me while on the highway and side streets even when I am trying to accelerate and if I push the pedal all the way down it feels like it is fighting to stop, I’m afraid I am going to get hit from behind due to this. I just brought the car into the dealer for the recalls and mentioned these issues I initially thought the errors codes were maybe due to how cold it’s been because the entire screen also shut off on me then restarted its self minutes later. This car only has 30,000 miles on it.
I was going down the highway and my vehicle came to an abrupt stop. It was in the middle of traffic. I was in NO danger prior to this happening. I almost got rear ended from the truck that was behind me as a result of this, as I had no control over this sudden braking. The truck behind me had to swerve over or it would have hit me. I’ve only had the car for 3 weeks so far. I hope this doesn’t happen again. I’ve disabled all safety features to hopefully prevent it from happening again. The dealer from which I bought my 2018 Accord is aware of the incident. I hope the issue gets resolved soon, for all of us.
This vehicle has made sudden complete stops when there is no object or vehicle in front of it. This has occurred while being on a two lane road so no lane changing needed. It has made such a abrupt stop it has tightened the seat belts and sent a dog that was on the seat to the floor. I do alot of traveling on the highway and this could be very dangerous and cause a bad collision. Took to the dealer and was told nothing is perfect. I am very concerned of when it could happen.
Ghost braking for no reason I could be going 70 mph and it'll slam on the breaks with nobody in front of me or anything
I have had multiple instances (since purchasing the vehicle new at the end of the of the 2018 model year (Sept 2018) of my 2018 Honda Accord LX suddenly braking when there was no reason to brake. I talked with my service advisor at Dave Mungenast Honda in St. Louis, MO within the first month of taking delivery of this new vehicle about this issue and was told that nothing is saved (in vehicle memory/hard drive or other) so they would not be able to diagnose unless it had just happened prior to driving in for service. I said it was dangerous but no one was concerned (I told my kids about this and don't let them drive this car, I bought a 2022 Honda Civic also with Honda Sensing safety system (with auto braking etc.) and no issues with this car, after 8000 miles, zero issues like the 2018 Accord, none.) They said its likely just their Honda Sensing auto/safety braking system activated and its not perfect. They said if I'm still concerned and when or if it happens again feel free to drive directly to their service department (not practical, since they are not open 24/7 and often not possible to disrupt daily routine. It has happened at least 10+ times since the initial scary episode and I only have about 23,000 miles on this car (with little driving last two years during pandemic). I have had it happen in exactly the same spot 2-3 times. Whenever this happens, it's always the same, the dashboard lights up saying "BRAKE" while the vehicle simultaneously/suddenly applys the brakes, fairly hard. The brakes have never locked up completely but the auto braking is a sudden unexpected moderate to hard brake, only lasting a second or two, and then the braking automatically releases. I'm officially reporting this now, even though my events are not as recent, because I just learned other are experiencing the same issue and I believe this should be addressed by Honda and corrected before someone is injured or killed in a rear end collision.
Two times, pulling into my driveway at a slow speed, the car automatically stopped suddenly. There were no shadows to provoke this. I have not seen a dealer about this because I did not want to incur any fees. No warning, no dash lights appeared and no other messages were displayed. The first occurrence happened about 3 months ago, the second was about 4 weeks ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The Collision Mitigation Braking System, check engine, Lane Departure, brake warning lights and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts and continued to drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the spark plugs were replaced; however, the warnings illuminated while driving hours later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown extended warranty as the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

In the past 2 weeks, my Honda Accord has suddenly started braking without reason. Once this was on the interstate, the other time it was on an exit ramp from a state highway. I did notice that on the exit ramp, the front of the vehicle was looking into the sun. I have no idea if that can help pinpoint this issue, but I wonder if the cameras/sensors on the front of the vehicle got 'confused' by the high amount of light. This did not cause an accident, but it did cause me great anxiety.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking System engaged abruptly while there were no objects or other vehicles nearby. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and continued to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while another vehicle from the opposite lane was approaching the vehicle. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no open recalls associated with the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I was driving my car and was at the time passing through an intersection and I had no car in front or back of me and out of nowhere my car showed an alert to "BRAKE" and the car slammed on the brakes for me and brought the car to an almost complete stop. This appears to be the phenomenon called Phantom braking and it was terrifying if someone had been behind me.
Automatic braking was activated on several occasions when there was no car or object in sight. This happened twice on the interstate at 70 mph speeds and once along a 40 mph road. Thankfully nobody was close behind or i would have been rear ended and hurt. The dealer says they have no complaints of this issue. Now every time i start the car i turn of the forward collision braking, because i don't trust this software Honda uses. Honda needs to do a software update to deactivate this until they can figure out what the problem is. There were no warning lights prior to or now on this car.
Braking system- phantom braking happens with no vehicle or obstacles in front of my vehicle. Possible rear end collision. No warning lamps before braking occurs.
Breaks came on for no apparent reason and put vehicle into a side ways skid. Lane Landed up in meridian .

1. Car periodically brakes on its own, sometimes when no other cars are around vehicle. It is available for inspection upon request. In the 3 years I've owned the car, it has done it numerous times, once on the expressway. 2. The last incident of this happening, I was almost involved in a rear end collision, thankfully the car behind me was at a safe distance. 3. After reading articles about this problem I phoned my dealership 3/1/2022 and spoke with someone in the service department. To my surprise, he denied knowing anything about this problem! 4. No inspection has been done for this problem. 5. My BRAKE warning message did appear during some of these incidents.
I own a 2018 honda accord sport on 7 different time's in the last four years my car has made sudden stop all by itself i have talk to the dealer about it but when they check it out they say everthing is fine and they don't know why it did it. It's happened 3 time on the freeway and the other four times in arround town driving. speed ranged from 15 miles an hour up to 70.
I want to report that I experienced the random emergency braking that you are currently investigating. It only happened once, about a month ago: I was driving along a paved country road on a straightaway (~40mph). Daytime/clear, dry paved roads. There was no traffic in either direction and no wildlife in my path. The car braked very hard very suddenly. The brake warning light did come on. Had there been someone behind me, my car would have been rear-ended. I was alone and uninjured. I did not report this to the dealer, even though I'm POSITIVE that there was no visible object in the roadway that would trigger the sudden braking.
The emergency braking anti collision system will engage when I am driving and there is nothing in front of me, regardless if there is a car or even a shadow the system will start to engage. I've had this happen on multiple occasions whether driving on a highway or neighborhood street. This has not been inspected by anyone yet and has not yielded any damage or accidents just yet.
Vehicle was placed into service June 2018 and ever since randomly will apply the brakes without driver input even when no obstacles are present. This has happened more than 25 times. There is no rhyme or reason for it, it just happens out of the blue. Luckily, the driver can override the automatic braking by quickly depressing the gas pedal.
I was driving and there were no objects or obstructions near my car when all of a sudden the car randomly breaks on its own for no reason. It startled me and jolted me forward. Luckily I was only going about 40mph at the time and nobody was behind me. I thought it was strange and didn't think anything of it. Then I saw an article about other people having these same issues and it reminded me about what happened. I traded the car in and told the dealer what happened. They said they would take a look at it, but never heard anything about what caused it or why it happened.
For the past three years, I have leased a 2018 Honda accord which I got for my wife and my child due to the "safety features " Of the vehicle. But all of a sudden throughout the years it has been breaking out of nowhere while driving on the highway with no objects obstructing front or sides. It was a kind of scary going from 70 mph for almost a complete stop in the times that it happened luckily there was no vehicle following close behind of could have been a pretty bad rear-end collision. I never took the vehicle in for repairs as it did it a total of 5 times in the three years. Now that I have purchased the vehicle it has a front camera issue that has disabled all safety driving features which are being looked into. The fact that other know Honda owners have experienced the same issue seems like a Honda needs to look into this problem.
The contact's wife owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle would independently downshift as an orange "brake" warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. They had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they found no fault with the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Contact checked too see if Honda had a recall for this issue. It did not.

I purchashed the Honda Accord new and it has 17,800+ miles. As I am driving usually highway driving it just suddenly decides to brake without my foot on the brake pedal. There doesn't seem to be any regular pattern. It has happened several times always on the highway at speed. A week ago it happened on a Sunday morning, changed lanes to ge into the off ramp lane and without warning it applied the brake. Fortunately there was nobody behind me. Thank you and if I can provide any furthe information please let me know. I do think there should be a recall issued to fix the problem.
My vehicle randomly applies the brakes during normal driving with no obstacle in its way. This happens intermittently but poses danger as there will be no car in front of me so applying the brakes and halting my car could cause the car behind me to drive into my vehicle.
The adaptive cruise and emergency braking systems. Driving on the highway the car suddenly brakes as if a car is right in front of you. There is no car in front. The dealer has not been able to confirm as this happens so at random. There was no warning that the system would suddenly brake. This has happened 3-4 times in the past year

Vehicle safety collision system has tried to stop my vehicle on at least 3 occasions when nothing was in front of it. Happened on highway. Vehicle sensed a ghost and slammed on the brakes. The cmbs system gives errors often and tries to shut systems down and brake the car while traveling. Happens often and has happened since the car was new. Dealer has no idea about issues.
From time to time my AEB will flash on my dash. A lot of my driving is highway so I can be driving anywhere between 40-65 mph given the road I'm on. On two separate occasions my car has flashed and braked abruptly while I was doing about 50 mph. The brake indication still flashes sometimes, the most recent was today.
The car will automatically brake itself when no car in anywhere close to being in front of me. This only happens when I am going from the current lane to a left hand turn lane. It only happens when I do NOT have my blinkers activated. The braking does NOT happen when I use my blinkers. My best guess is the the use of the blinkers deactivates or overrides the sensors. This issue only happens at one particular turn near my house. I believe it has something to do with the lines painted on the road and how the sensors are reading them, but that is just a theory. This happens every time I drive by this intersection.
I will just be driving down the highway and sometimes the orange BRAKE light will light up and sometimes it will light up and just start slowing down. Several times I will be the only car moving thru an intersection with a green light and it will light up BRAKE and hit the brake. Not being ready to brake for no reason it throws us forward luckily we wear our seat belts, but I'm pretty sure safety equipment isn't supposed to do that.
My vehicle randomly slams on the brakes without the touching the brake pedal. I’ve taken to my local Honda and they state there is nothing wrong and can’t fix anything if they see no warning lights
Vehicle occasionally displays large orange "BRAKE" warning on dash when there are no vehicles or obstructions ahead. It then applies the brakes. This happens both when Adaptive Cruise Control is engaged, and when it is not.
I read about Investigation PE22-003 and wanted to add to that investigation. There’s a small hill near my house where the automatic braking system almost always tells me I’m about to crash. The brakes are never applied because I figure I crest the hill before I get close enough that it brakes for me. But it still doesn’t seem to work quite right.
When driving in various scenarios on open road, the automatic emergency braking system will engage unexpectedly. No vehicles were within 1/4 mile or more in front of me. Has happened more than once.
Randomly the car will just stop itself and it’s happened several times on the freeway. It has happened while driving straight, exiting and in traffic. There’s never something in front of me like another car, person or animal. It’s happened more than 5 times when both my husband and I are driving.
The car brakes when there is no one in front on me on the highway. It was occurred many times.
Possible glitch that sometimes causes the car randomly slam on brakes or slow down with out the driver touching the brake pedal.
Whilst driving on the freeway, on multiple occasions, the automatic emergency braking system of the car engaged even though there was no car near me whether in front, to the sides or behind. On one of the occasions the automatic breaks kicked in with no car around me or in front of me, I estimate I was travelling around 60 mph and the car immediately braked down straight to around 30-40 mph. If there had been a car travelling behind me I most certainly would have been rear ended. This issue is clearly a safety risk for myself and other drivers. Unfortunately, in my research online I haven't seen anything from Honda regarding this issue. I have not addressed this issue with the Honda dealer as per my research online from reports from other people with the same issue, the dealer doesn't do anything about the issue, therefore I haven't bothered taking the vehicle into the dealer. This braking issue occurred soon after I purchased the vehicle in February of 2018, within a month or two as I recall. There were no warning lamps or messages or symptoms prior to the problem ocurring.
Three or four times in the 4 years since we purchased our 2018 Accord Touring it has unexpectedly applied its brakes and illuminated the AEB (orange) warning light on the instrument cluster. This has happened when the car was being driven in heavy traffic at highway speeds and (the latest occurrence) when the car was stationary but traffic on each side was accelerating. Except for the time the car was stationary I could feel the car was being braked at a moderate rate and each time the dashboard instruments were lit up orange. Each time the event resolved by itself in a second or two and did not recure for months/years. I have not complained to the dealer as the symptom is so random.
The automatic collision avoidance, braking system sometimes when it has brought to a near stop locks down. It happens when I am on cruise control and let the system slow me down. When this happens it won't bring me up to speed when the car in front of me pulls away. I have to give it some some gas to break free. It's happened several times over the last few months.

Has going 35mph when the car suddenly applied brakes full force. There was nobody or anything in front of the car. Got a warning massage about the cmbs and to see dealer. Scary stuff. It could cause me to get rear ended.
Driving on occasion the “brake” warning sign lights up on dash (no one in front of me) in one instance last week it activated the brake system for me while I was driving on the highway. Again no car in front of me!
While driving a about 40 mph on a clear road, the car started braking automatically and almost stopped. I was worried I would be hit from behind.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the braking system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact indicated that during the failure no vehicles or objects were nearby to cause the collision avoidance system to activate. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

In 2019 I was in a parking lot driving at about 5 mph. A man left a store and stepped into the street over 20 ft in front of my car and the car suddenly slammed on the brakes and came to a complete jerking stop without me hitting the brakes or applying any pressure since he was so far away I didn’t need to fully brake. I reported this to the Honda dealership during my next service and was told it must’ve been a fluke occurrence or exaggeration. During multiple instances over the years I have felt the car brake on its own while I’m entering an intersection even though there is nothing in the way and no reason to activate the braking system.
I just learned of the investigation the NHTSA is doing regarding the sudden braking issue on Honda Accords. My 2018 Honda Accord Sport has done this maybe 15-20 times, in most cases with no visual or audible alert before braking. There have however been a few instances when the vehicle DOES sound a visual and audible alert for no reason, but doesn't brake. Here's a clue: there are two very specific areas near our home in which it seems to happen most (I can tell you the specific areas if you are interested). I have not been involved in an accident as a result of this problem, but I can certainly see how it could happen.
While driving there was no vehicles in front of me, my car started flashing “BREAK, BREAK,” and then the car completely stopped. There was a semi behind me, fortunately he was able to get into a different lane to avoid hitting me.
My Honda Accord has braked on its own for no reason while I was driving down the highway. This has happened approximately four times.

The failure occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. 1-When I would hit the remote to unlock the doors it would make a weird noise. 2-After a few days I started hearing the noises in the gas cap area and in the gearshift when I put the car in gear. 3-Shortly after that, all of the warning indicators on the dashboard began to come on at the same time-3a- Brake Performance may be reduced, then the automatic emergency brake came on when there was nothing in front of me getting off on an exit ramp; 3b- Brake System-Electric Parking Brake Problem-3c- Vehicle stability 3d-Safety support system; 3e-ABS Anti-lock brake system; 3f-Systems Initiating message while in driving and in park; 3g Failure to disengage the parking brake. All of the above issues have the ability to put mine and others at risks of injury or worse if not properly addressed! Thankfully, there were no injuries or accidents. I took it to the Honda Dealership and left it, The tech called and told me that I had a problem with the fuel induction and I needed battery, which does not address any of the issues- so I feel like no one is taking these issues serious which is a problem. I am sure there are some details that I have forgotten, I will resubmit if that is the case. Please do something to address these issues. This vehicle is only 3 years old and should not have these major issues. With so many complaints of the same issues with the same model and year, I am appalled that NTHSA NOR HONDA is taking this seriously enough to issue a recalls or open an investigation. It seems that our safety and the safety of others is of no consequence to you all! PLEASE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY!!!
Rear brakes were changed 3 times in a time lapse in less than 6 months my rear brakes are gone they are rubbing metal to metal this is my commuting car to and from work. The automatic braking sometimes activated on its own or when it does not detect the markers on the road or the vehicle will try to left has happened to me multiple times almost crashed to the wall in more than one occasion

The system regularly malfunctions and it has almost caused 2 accidents. You expect the car to stop but it fails. The brakes also have issues and now my car starts without even pressing my foot on the brake first. I have over 10 warning lights due to safety system issues.
Supplemental Restraint System failure will pop up at random times maybe every other drive, then that code goes away. Just recently the ACC and Brake System flashes "Problem see dealer" as well as the head unit/display turning off and then back on intermittently. Front interior lights will turn on then turn off, sometimes immediately, and this has all been in the last year they've compiled. Closer to when I got my car a couple of years ago, the cruise control would just turn off and the automatic braking would start to slow the vehicle down. I attribute this to the "emergency braking" feature that would stop me with nothing in front of me, so it has been disabled ever since. Unfortunately my car doesn't fall under the VIN registry for the software recall, and from the looks of the other complaints this seems to be common problem with this car. If these issues are present I'm not sure why Honda would be so reluctant to accept that the recall affected a larger number of vehicles than they had initially thought. May have to get in contact with Honda Corporate.

Collision Braking Mitigation System experienced two errors (descriptions unknown). Received error message warning on display panel, but no description of errors. CMBS, LKAS, speed limit sign sensing, etc. all failed. Turning vehicle off and on several times did not restore the system. Vehicle drove fine, but all safety features were disabled.
The CMBS will slam on the brakes in wide open road condition. It happened at least 5 times. I have since made a habit to turn off the CMBS before I drive (going on 2 years turning it off). Almost caused an accident twice.
While using Adaptive Cruise Control the Collision Mitigation Braking System turns off with no rhyme or reason. This happens often ... 5 to 10 times per month depending upon how many miles I use the car that month. The speed of the car doesn't matter. When the CMBS turns off, the ACC also does not function. The only way to reset is to restart the car. This has happened ever since I purchased the car (new in 2018) but happens more often as time passes. I've reported this to the dealer twice. The first time I was told that the camera lens are probably dirty. (I've thoroughly cleaned the lens to no avail.) The second time the dealer updated the software. That did not solve the problem. The car has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. Warning lamps and messages appear when the CMBS goes out.

Unexpected CMBS activation. There were no cars in front of me.
When I'm driving the braking warning flashes out of the blue and there is no one in front of me. Then it goes away. Also randomly my infotainment system just turns off and on out of the blue as well.

All the systems in the Picture failed.. I noticed my reading lamps don't work and middle brake light stays on dim when these warning lightscome on.... and the car loses power on the road It will slow down like its braking and won't accelerate. if there is ever a tractor trailer behind me I'm afraid it will hit me... when shutting down the car and restart within 30-50miles warnings lights come back on..
Collision mitigation braking system problem appeared with no reasoning.
The car is braking by itself because of honda sensing. There are no cars near me but it normally thinks there is seems to not work on sunny days
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle would independently brake as a brake warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer on two separate occasions to have the vehicle inspected for the failure however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure both times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the Vin. The manufacturer referred him back to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

I was driving home in the rain on the interstate when my car suddenly braked on its own. Luckily, no one was immediately around me at the time because the sudden braking resulted in my car sliding into the lane to the right of me, towards the cars in the next lane over. It spun to where I was facing the oncoming traffic and sliding toward the dividing wall with the passenger side to the wall. I missed the wall, but the car did a complete circle and came to a stop straddling the fast lane and facing the wall. I was able to pull the car off to the shoulder next to the wall. I did not hit anybody or anything. When I calmed down, I took the car straight to dealer to have the brakes checked. They kept the car overnight. That night I went online and found others had reported similar incidents of the Automatic Emergency Braking System engaging unnecessarily on its own and realized that was what had happened to me. I also had a previous incident where system braked harder than necessary. The next day the service techs had found nothing wrong with the brakes. When I told the service manager about the AEBS problems I had read about, I told him I wanted it disconnected. He told me they could not do that and until Honda came up with a fix for the problem, they couldn't do anything. I looked online again and discovered Honda had replied to questions about the AEBS engaging when it should not and said they had addressed the problem in the owner's manual. I found an online manual and found that I can turn the Collision Mitigation Braking System off. It resets automatically so I have to turn it off each time I start the car. I have not driven the car any distance yet since I have not returned to work yet but plan on turning it off and see if it really does turn it off and corrects the problem. Currently, I have no confidence in the car and am afraid of it happening again.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking activated inadvertently and without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a Honda dealer where they informed her that her gear shifter may have caused an electrical short. As the failure persisted, the vehicle was brought back to the dealer where they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

THE VEHICLE LOSS CRUISE CONTROL, EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE SIDE BLIND SPOT ALERTS FAILED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED WITH A SOFTWARE FAILURE. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SCHEDULED AN UPCOMING APPOINTMENT FOR DIAGNOSTIC BUT INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT RESPONDING TO ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE BUT HAD NOT CONTACTED THE CONTACT SINCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CONSUMER STATED DEALER TRIED TO ASSIST BY ADDING A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE VEHICLE.

THE FUEL PUMPS, MADE BY SUPPLIER DENSO, WERE "EXPOSED TO PRODUCTION SOLVENT DRYING FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME" DURING MANUFACTURING, ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA RECALL REPORT, WHICH COULD CAUSE SURFACE CRACKING AND EXCESSIVE FUEL ABSORPTION AND EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE IMPELLER TO BECOME DEFORMED AND FAIL. THE FUEL PUMPS ON VEHICLES PRODUCED OUTSIDE LIMITED DATES GIVEN ON THE REPORT DO NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM. THIS RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2018 HONDA ACCORD MODELS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. MY CAR IS STALLING THE EMISSIONS WARNING LIGHT IS ON ALONG WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE, AND THE COLLISION MITIGATION. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THE PUT IN PLACE LAST YEAR BEING THAT IS IS THE SAME ISSUES. MY VEHICLE WOULD STALL IN A PARKING SPOT AT MY HOME WHEN I'M FIRST STARTING IT. IT WOULD FLASH A WARNING LIKE A CAR IS IN FRONT OF ME RANDOMLY WHEN NOTHING IS THERE. I HAVEN'T GOT INTO A WREAK BUT I FREE THAT I MAY BE IN ONE IF THIS ISSUE ISN'T FIXED AND BEING THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH PREVIOUS MODELS I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET. BURNING EXCESSIVE GAS. EVERY 2 DAYS I HAVE BEEN FILLING MY TANK. FILLED TANK TO HALF TANK OF GAS AND WITHIN LESS THAN 24 HOURS I AM ON EMPTY. FORWARD COLLISION GOES OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT ANYTHING IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. THERE IS A CONSTANT GAS SMELL IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. MY GARAGE ALSO HAS BEEN STINK WITH GAS SMELL SINCE THE LAST 3 WEEKS CONSISTENTLY.
I2 WEEKS AGO I HAD MY CAR'S COMPUTER SYSTEM UPDATED AS PER THE RECALL NOTICE. EVERYTHING WAS FINE THEN 2 DAYS AGO I NOTICED ON THE HEADS UP DISPLAY "CRUISE) WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE. I SET THE SPEED AT 65 ON THE FREEWAY AND IT HELD THE SPEED FINE, HOWEVER, AS I APPROACHED ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM BEHIND IT DID NOT SLOW DOWN TO MATCH THE SPEED OF THE OTHER CAR. I HAD TO BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING IT. I TRIED USING THE INTERVAL BUTTON TO SET THE DISTANCE FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING 3/23/2021 AND AFTER 90 MINUTES THEY CALLED ME OUT TO LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. APPARENTLY, IF YOU HOLD THE INTERVAL BUTTON DOWN FOR 2-5 SECONDS IT DISENGAGES THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE CAR IS REVERTED TO AN OLDER SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT SENSE THE SPACING WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I NEVER HAD TOUCHED THE INTERVAL BUTTON PRIOR TO THE CAR REVERTING TO THIS OLDER SYSTEM AND IT WENT TO IT BY ITSELF. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY IT WENT TO THIS SYSTEM WHILE IN MOTION BY ITSELF AND ONLY SINCE I HAD THE UPDATED SYSTEM INSTALLED DUE TO THE RECALL. IF I HADN'T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION I WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONTOF ME.

IN FACT IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THERE HAS BEEN NO CARS IN SIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY ON LOCAL ROADS GOING 45-50 MILES, BUT HAS OCCURED ON A HIGHWAY GOING AROUND 65 MPH. PURCHASED CAR IN 2018, STARTING HAPPENING IN 2019 AND CONTINUES UNTILL TODAY. WHEN I TOLD HONDA SERVICE, THEY SAID MAYBE THE SENSOR FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS DIRTY. SUDDENLY, MY CAR ACCELERATED RAPIDLY TOWARD MY WIFE'S CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION. AT THAT MOMENT, A WARNING APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STATING THAT RADAR OBSTRUCTED. BUT EVEN THEN, I WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE SAME SCENARIO FOUR MORE TIMES BEFORE TURNING OFF ACC FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHILE THE CAR WAS SURGING FORWARD, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME, EVEN THOUGH THERE CLEARLY WAS. IT WAS ALMOST AS IF MY CAR 'COULDN'T SEE' AND DECIDED TO ACCELERATE ANYWAY. THE SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE FAILED IN A SAFE MANNER, BUT IT CLEARLY DID NOT.

ALL LIGHTS IN MY DASH CAME ON, BRAKE, ENGINE, STEERING, COLLISION, ACCELERATION. I TOOK IT IN TO PRIORITY HONDA AND WAS TOLD IT WAS CRACKED SPARK PLUGS AND IT WAS FIXED. I PAID $260. SIX DAYS LATER SAME THING. SAME DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT IT. SAID IT WAS FIX, SENT ME ON MY WAY, BUT TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE SPARK PLUG COVER. SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. NOW BACK IN THE SHOP FOR A 4TH TIME. WAS TOLD I HAD BAD FUEL INJECTORS. COST $1700, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $200 DEDUCTIBLE. PROBABLY IS MY CAR WAS BRAND NEW WHEN PURCHASED AND I'M UNDER 5YR, 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. SO WHY AM I PAYING ANYTHING IF IT IS A POWERTRAIN FAILURE AND I'M UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP. THESE INCIDENTS HAPPEN AS SOON AS I STARTED MY CAR, AND I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT DID. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS DECEMBER 5, 2020. BEFORE THAT WAS TWICE IN NOVEMBER BUT I WOULD HAVE TO VERIFY EXACT DATE BASED ON WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I SERVICE MY CAR, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN SUBPAR. I COULDN'T EVEN GET A COMPLIMENTARY RENTAL UNLESS I PAID OUT OF POCKET.

WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, THE VEHICLE WARNS POTENTIAL COLLISION AND TRIES TO BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE AND PUSH A LITTLE, THE WARNING GOES AWAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE AT 50 OR 60 MPH THE CAR WARNS AND TRIES TO BRAKE HARD. GOD KNOWS WHEN THE CAR BRAKES ONE DAY REALLY HARD AND CAUSES ACCIDENT FOR A FAULTY SENSOR. THERE'S ALWAYS NOTHING AHEAD WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING COMES. WHEN THE WARNING COMES, THERE'S ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AHEAD, SIMPLY EMPTY ROAD AHEAD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR.

THE CMBS (COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM) HAD ANOTHER FAILURE. THIS IS DUE TO THE RADAR SENSOR BEING BLOCKED AND THEN OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE HAVING CASCADING FAILURES. LAST WINTER, THE RADAR SENSOR HAD FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY AND I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY, SUPPOSEDLY, PERFORMED SOME SORT OF AN ADJUSTMENT. PLEASE.
