PRIOR TO THIS ALSO, THIS PROBLEM WAS NOTIFIED A FEW YEARS AGO, AND I GOT IT FIXED. DEALER ASKING MONEY FOR DOING DIAGNOSTICS AND THEN FIXING IT. 2. FRONT AND REAR BUMPER CLIPS FIXED SEVERAL TIMES-4 TIMES SPENDING MY OWN MONEY BUT ALWAYS A PROBLEM.

I HAD DEER HIT ON I-80 WEST AT MILE STONE 294.2. IN PENNSYLVANIA. MY SPEED WAS 55 MPH I HIT BRAKES BUT DESPITE THAT CAR HIT DEER AND COMPLETELY DAMAGED. DESPITE SUCH A ACCIDENT NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG WAS INFLATED. IN 2015 I GOT LETTER OF RECALL FROM HONDA ON AIR BAG. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THEY FIXED IT. BUT IN ACCIDENT NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG WAS INFLATED. VEHICLE IS TOTALED. HONDA HAS COMPROMISED SAFETY OF VEHICLE AND PUT MY LIFE AT RISK.

NHTSA RECALL # 16V346 WAS ISSUED ON JULY 20, 2016 TO REPLACE FAULTY AIRBAGS THAT SPLIT ON IMPACT. THIS NOTICE ONLY REPLACED THE PASSAGE SIDE AIR BAG. I ASSUMED THE DRIVERS SIDE WOULD BE REPLACED AT A LATER DATE BUT AS YET HAVEN'T RECEIVED A NOTICE. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL CENTER, MAILED NOTIFICATION TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS AIRBAG WILL BEGIN IN APRIL 2019, BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN, 90 YRS OLD AND STILL DRIVING INDEPENDENTLY. AN IMPACT WITH A FAULTY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WOULD BE DEVASTATING AND POSSIBLY FATAL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE TONGUE AFTER BITING A HOLE IN IT UPON THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND BRUISES TO THE LEGS, HIPS, AND ARMS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. TAKATA RECALL: I TOOK MY CAR TO POWAY HONDA (POWAY, CA 92064). THEY CHARGED ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO FIX THIS RECALL. I DON'T THINK IT WAS FAIR THAT I HAVE TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE RECALL. MY WIFE HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO DROP IT OFF AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER CALLED ME TELLING ME THAT THE SRS LIGHT WAS ON WHEN MY WIFE DROPPED IT OFF (I LATER FOUND OUT FROM MY WIFE THAT THEY WERE LYING ABOUT THIS - THE SRS LIGHT WAS NOT ON WHEN SHE DROPPED IT OFF). THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE FIXING THE RECALL DIDN'T CAUSE THE LIGHT TO GO OFF THERE WAS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG AND THEY NEEDED TO RUN ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS FOR WHICH THEY CHARGED ME $120.88. AFTER RUNNING THE DIAGNOSTICS THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR... I TOLD THEM THAT WAS WHAT THE RECALL WAS FOR, THEN HE QUICKLY CHANGED HIS STORY A COUPLE OF TIMES FROM IT BEING THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG AND THEN THE PASSENGER AGAIN. IT SOUNDED A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS, AND MY SUSPICIONS WERE CONFIRMED AFTER TALKING TO MY WIFE, WHO STATED THAT THE SRS NOR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHT WAS ON.

MIDLANDS HONDA, IN LEXINGTON, SC TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PART WAS IN. IN OCTOBER 2016, I CALLED THE MIDLANDS HONDA, SINCE WE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T EVEN TELL ME IF THE PART HAD BEEN ORDERED. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA, AND THEY SAID WE HAD TO GO THROUGH THE DEALER. TAKATA RECALL ON JUNE 20, 2016, I NOTICED MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED, AND I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME. ON 7/26/2016, I CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG - IN RESPONSE TO A LETTER I HAD RECEIVED FROM HONDA. I WAS SWITCHED TO THE PARTS DEPARTMENT, WHERE I WAS INFORMED THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER, AND THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN IT IS IN. THE LETTER ALSO ADVISED THAT I AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. AS OF AUGUST 26, 2016, I HAVE NOT YET BEEN CALLED, AND I CANNOT TRANSPORT ANY PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT HAS INTERFERED SUBSTANTIALLY WITH MY USE AND ENJOYMENT OF MY VEHICLE, AND IT IS TAKING AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE VEHICLE LOSS OF USE AS WELL AS HAVING THE AIR BAG INFLATOR REPAIRED.

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT ANY FRONT PASSENGERS' SAFETY IS AT RISK AND FOR SO LONG WITHOUT ANY REMEDY OR EVEN AN UPDATE FROM HONDA AS TO WHEN ONE MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. I HAVE CALLED LOCAL DEALERS AND IT SEEMS THEY TOO ARE UNSURE. HONDA SHOULD BE GIVING US TEMPORARY LEASES OR SOMETHING TO ENSURE SAFETY WHILE ALL THOSE AFFECTED WAIT. TAKATA RECALL: MY INITIAL CONTACT WITH HONDA OCCURRED AFTER RECEIVING MY RECALL THROUGH THE MAIL AROUND JULY 8TH. I AM CONTACTING YOU AFTER NUMEROUS EFFORTS IN CONTACTING THE HONDA RECALL CENTER IN REGARDS TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL ON MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC. TO DATE I HAVE CALLED HONDA AMERICA THREE TIMES IN AN EFFORT TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE I AWAIT THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX MY CAR, AND FAXED THEM AN ADDITIONAL TIME AFTER NO RESPONSE FROM THE CALL CENTER. I HAVE A FAMILY OF FIVE WHO USES THIS VEHICLE REGULARLY, THEREFORE I AM NOT ABLE TO LEAVE THE PASSENGER SEAT UNOCCUPIED, AS SUGGESTED. AS A RESULT, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR NEARLY A MONTH, AND HAVE BEEN BORROWING CARS FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY. EACH TIME I CALL HONDA CORPORATE I AM ADVISED THAT MY CASE WILL BE FORWARDED TO A CASE MANAGER, WHO WILL CONTACT ME TO AUTHORIZE A RENTAL VEHICLE. AFTER NEARLY A MONTH SINCE MY INITIAL CONTACT I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM A SUPERVISOR. AFTER MY LATEST CALL THIS MORNING I WAS TRANSFERRED TO A SUPERVISOR WHO MAINTAINED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE SHE COULD DO AT THIS TIME, AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTINUE TO WAIT TO HEAR FROM A CASE MANAGER. SRS LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC LX. TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP AND RESET THE CODE. HONDA SAID MY SRS LIGHT BEING ON MEANS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF IN ACCIDENT. HONDA RESET MY LIGHT AND SAID TO COME BACK IF THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SRS LIGHT CAME BACK ON AS SOON AS LEFT DEALER. CALLED HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO COME BACK AND THEY WOULD REPLACE MY AIRBAG AT NO COST. ONCE AT DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $685.40 FOR CABLE REEL AND $833.43 FOR PARTS FOR DRIVERS AIRBAG. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WHICH HONDA IS FAILING TO ADDRESSING LEAVING PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE $1500 TO PAY THEM TO FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE AIRBAG EQUIPMENT HAVING TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS CAR. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RUNAROUND AND INCONSISTENT INFORMATION HONDA DEALERSHIP PROVIDED. I DID NOT DECLINE FOR THEM TO FIX MY AIRBAG AND CABLE REEL, I COULD NOT AFFORD THEIR QUOTED COST OF $1,500 FOR THEM TO FIX THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR. THE NOTICE SPECIFIED THAT I SHOULD NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE RECALL LINE AT (888) 234-2138) AND INFORMED THE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN THAT MY HUSBAND IS A PERMANENTLY DISABLED VETERAN (MAJOR USAR RETIRED) WHO CANNOT RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE OF HIS DISABILITY AND WHO NOW CANNOT RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT DUE TO THE RISK OF THE THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING. THE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN SAID SHE WOULD ESCALATE A REQUEST FOR A LOANER CAR AND THAT A CASE MANAGER WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN 2-3 BUSINESS DAYS. THIS CALL NEVER CAME. I CALLED THE HONDA RECALL LINE AGAIN ON SATURDAY, JULY 29, 2016; I RECEIVED AN APOLOGY AND WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT A SECOND REQUEST WOULD BE PUT THROUGH AND THAT A CASE MANAGER WOULD CONTACT ME IN 2-3 BUSINESS DAYS. AGAIN, NO CALL CAME. DURING THIS PERIOD MY HUSBAND AND I WERE FORCED TO RENT A CAR FOR FOUR DAYS IN ORDER TO VISIT HIS 93-YEAR OLD MOTHER FOR HER BIRTHDAY. I CALLED THE HONDA RECALL LINE AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016. I RECEIVED ANOTHER APOLOGY, AND THIS TIME THE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN TRANSFERRED ME TO THE ESCALATIONS DEPARTMENT. THE PERSON I SPOKE TO SAID THAT SHE WOULD PUT A FLAG ON THE LOANER REQUEST THAT SPECIFIED THE REQUEST WAS A "MEDICAL EMERGENCY." FOUR WEEKS HAVE PASSED SINCE MY FIRST REQUEST. HAD DEALER LOOK AT SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT AGAIN. THEY TELL ME THE I HAD A FAULTY FLOOR HARNESS AND ALL MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK AND COST OF REPAIR AFTER DISCOUNT TO BE $1600. I CALL AMERICAN HONDA ON 8/1 TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER COST OF REPAIR. THEY DID NOT. BASE ON MY RESEARCH, I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. 2007 HONDA CIVIC HAVE THIS PROBLEM SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUE CODE 32-10. I PULLED OVER AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY CAR (OTHER THAN THE INSIDE WHERE THE AIRBAGS NOW DEPLOYED). MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO DEPLOYMENT. THERE WAS NO SORT OF IMPACT AND ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION/REASON THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING ON MY PASSENGER SIDE, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. IF THE DRIVER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND/OR POSSIBLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND VERY CONCERNING MALFUNCTION THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A LOT WORSE.

THE SRS CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED WITH AMERICAN HONDA PROVIDING THE PART WHILE I PAID $221.54 FOR THE LABOR. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IN AUGUST 2014 AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD BY VISALIA HONDA THAT THE CABLE REEL HAD INTERMITTENT FAILURE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $413.00. SRS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY AND USUALLY WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN TERRAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY RESET THE LIGHT FOR ERROR CODE 33-10 (RELATED TO AIRBAG INFLATOR). I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG IF THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED. IN THE EVENT I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, I WILL NOT BE PROTECTED. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN TO AN ACCIDENT AND MY AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED AND I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. I BELIEVE HONDA USES A FAULTY AIRBAG SYSTEM AND CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IN FACT, I THINK HONDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS AND A NEW PART NUMBER TO REPLACE THE OLD ONE. *TR

THE SRS LIGHT ON MY HONDA WAS ON FOR THE PAST MONTH. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS AFFECTING LOTS OF HONDA CIVICS OF 2006 AND 2007 THAT HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. THE WIRING HARNESS HAS TO BE REPLACED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WEIGHT SENSOR, WHICH IS CLOSE TO A $2000 REPAIR. WHEN I ASKED HONDA CORPORATE (CUSTOMER SERVICE [XXX] AT 800-999-1009) I WAS ARROGANTLY TOLD THEY DO NOT CARE BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. IT IS DISGRACEFUL THAT HONDA MARKETS SAFETY IN THEIR VEHICLES, BUT DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR SRS SYSTEM FAILING PREMATURELY. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAM ITEM AND NO ONE SITS IN MY CAR BESIDES ME. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON IF WE HIT A SMALL POTHOLE. IT WOULD STAY ON SOMETIMES UNTIL THE KEY WAS CYCLED AND SOMETIMES FOR MORE THAN A DAY. BOTH THE PASSENGER CURTAIN AND SEAT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR NO DISCERNIBLE REASON. THIS AIRBAG FAILURE WAS NOT THE RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT, HITTING A POT HOLE OR ROAD IMPERFECTION OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL IMPACT. THE CIVIC WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH 33K MILES. THE CIVIC WAS NEVER IN A PRIOR ACCIDENT. IT IS TROUBLING THAT THE CAR WAS SERVICED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ON 4/12/2011 FOR AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE (TEL # 800-999-1009) HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MALFUNCTION AND CLAIMED THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS WAS A DEPLORABLE RESPONSE BY HONDA TO AN INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY TO MANY PEOPLE GIVEN THAT IT OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A HEAVVILY TRAVELED PARKWAY. STARTED NOTICING A ROUGH RIDE AND EXCESSIVE ROAD NOISE SO TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR ALIGNMENT AND WAS TOLD THE NOISE WAS DUE TO TIRE WEAR. OVER THE PAST YEAR TWO REPAIR PLACES THAT HAVE REPLACED MY OIL HAVE TOLD ME THE TIRE WEAR WAS DUE TO WORN OUT STRUTS. THIS SPRING THE DEALER FINALLY TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS AND IT WOULD COST CLOSE TO $400 TO REPLACE THEM. MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT HAD BEEN ON MOST OF THE TIME FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND THE HONDA DEALER TOLD ME DURING THIS VISIT THAT THIS IS ALSO A COMMON PROBLEM AND IF I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED MY AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF A WIRE HARNESS FOR NEARLY $1300. I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA TO SEE IF THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARMS FOR $75 AND THE WIRING HARNESS FOR $375 BUT I ONLY HAD 60 DAYS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS FOR THIS PRICE. I GOT THE ARMS REPLACED BUT DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET NEW TIRES OR REPLACE THE HARNESS. I HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF TRACTION AND THE NOISE AND VIBRATION ARE SO BAD NOW THAT I CAN HARDLY DRIVE THE CAR. THESE BOTH APPEAR TO BE ENGINEERING ISSUES THAT AFFECT SAFETY OF THE HONDA CIVIC AND RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS. *TR

THEY REPLACED WHAT THEY SAID WAS A BAD SENSOR IN THE REAR BUMPER. 5 MONTHS LATER, ON 6/22/2010 DURING THE 3RD GEAR ISSUE BEING FIXED AGAIN, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS RANDOMLY COMING ON AGAIN. ONCE MORE, I ASKED THAT HONDA LOOK INTO THIS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR AGAIN AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT, IF THAT DIDN'T WORK, THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE A FLOORING HARNESS. ALL AIRBAG SENSOR WORK DONE HAS BEEN PAID FOR BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT ON 2/2009. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

HAVING BEEN AN ARMY ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR MY CONCERN LIES IN THE FAILURE OF THE CONTROL ARM THAT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR CAMBER ADJUSTMENTS TO THE REAR TIRES. CURRENTLY THE REAR TIRE OR TIRES ARE ALLOWED TO RUB AGAINST THE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CAUSING A BLOW OUT OF THE REAR TIRE (S) CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND A SUBSEQUENT CRASH. THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM COULD BE REMEDIED BY THE RECALL OF SI VERSION CIVICS FOR INSTALLATION OF AN ADJUSTABLE REAR CONTROL ARM. I COLLIDED WITH AN SUV. BOTH CARS WERE PROCEEDING FROM A FULL STOP AND PROBABLY WEREN'T DOING MORE THAN 15 MPH. ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, IT WAS SO SLOW THAT IF THERE HAD BEEN A PASSENGER THE BAG WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY USELESS. THE CONTACT STRUCK A CURB AND DROVE INTO THE LIVING ROOM OF SOMEONE'S RESIDENCE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS FAILED. THE SIDE WALLS WERE INTACT, BUT THE WHOLE TOP PART OF THE TIRE WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE SIDE WALL. MY CAR IS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC COUPE EX AND IT HAD ABOUT 8300 MILES. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN JULY 2007. THE CRASH CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR. THE CAR IS NOW AT A BODY SHOP AND IS BEING REPAIRED IN SAN LEANDRO, CA. WE HAVE THE DEFECTIVE TIRE. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT HONDA HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT UNEVEN OR RAPID TIRE WEAR. TSB 08-001 ON FEBRUARY 8, 2008. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THIS SERIOUS DEFECT BECAUSE HONDA IS NOT REQUIRED TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS REGARDING TSBS. THIS DEFECT IS SERIOUS AND AFFECTS NEARLY ALL 2006-2007 HONDA CIVICS. THIS TSB NEEDS TO BECOME A RECALL. ALL OWNERS OF 2006-2007 HONDA CIVICS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. I UNDERSTAND THAT TIRES SHOULD BE CHECKED REGULARLY, AND MANY CONSUMERS DO, HOWEVER, MY TIRES DID NOT GIVE ME ANY WARNING OF UNEVEN WEARING. ACTUALLY, IT WOULD BE HARD TO NOTICE SINCE MY 2007 CIVIC COUPE EX IS NOT QUITE ON THE ROAD AND YOU CAN FEEL ANY LITTLE BUMP IN THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE STIFF SUSPENSION. OVERALL, I SERIOUSLY HOPE THAT THIS IS ADDRESSED QUICKLY. MANY UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS, MANY OF WHOM HAVE DRIVEN HONDA'S IN THE PAST ARE NOT EXPECTING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WHICH CAN CAUSE TIRE BLOWOUTS AND POSSIBLE FATAL ACCIDENTS. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF MY 2005 HONDA CIVIC LX. AT 62,000 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF. TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE SRS CONTROL UNIT THAT CONTROLS THE AIR BAGS. I ASKED IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID NO. I SAID THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME IT ONLY COVERED THE SEATBELT BUCKLES. I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAID NO, AND IT WOULD BE $800 FOR THE PART ALONE, NO LABOR, PAYABLE UP FRONT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, WHO SENT IT IN TO BE REBUILT. THE UNIT WAS SO FAR GONE, THAT IT COULDN'T EVEN BE REBUILT. I WAS WITHOUT MY AIRBAGS FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS WHILE ALL OF THIS WAS GOING ON. THE PLACE OF BUSINESS THAT REBUILT THE CONTROL UNIT STATED THEY HAVE HAD MANY HONDA CIVIC SRS CONTROL UNITS SENT IN. I THINK THIS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AND A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. *JB
