About a month ago, I brought my vehicle to a Honda-specialized shop, which has been servicing Hondas exclusively for over 30 years, due to a power steering issue. During the inspection, they informed me that my car is covered under a service bulletin (1048 or 10 048) related to a potential defect in the engine block. The shop mentioned that vehicles with a VIN starting with “1HG” may be eligible for an extended warranty or recall for this issue. I was completely unaware of this situation, as my car has never overheated, and I had no prior indication of any engine-related problems. Following this information, I took the car to a Honda dealership for a diagnostic assessment. The dealership recommended an engine replacement, which would be a costly repair. This recommendation seems perplexing, given that I have consistently taken proper care of the vehicle over the years, and there have been no significant overheating or other apparent engine issues. It appears that there may be a larger issue at play, possibly related to a manufacturing defect, which could be part of a class-action settlement. Based on what I’ve learned, the engine block defect could be due to faulty manufacturing, explaining why the engine block is cracking without any major overheating. I’m concerned that this issue may require significant repairs, but I’m uncertain how to proceed, especially considering the financial burden, as Christmas is approaching and I am not in a position to cover such a large expense. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to move forward with this situation, as I am currently unsure of the next steps.
Coolant leaking out looked at engine block it is leaking from there started to overheating
Engine block cracked causing coolant leak as confirmed by an ase mechanic. A replacement engine is needed at a cost of $5k-6k. I’m [XXX] old and can’t afford the cost. honda customer service was called and they said it was my responsibility to fix their manufacturing engine defect. honda should be forced to replace these engines. It’s their fault for the defect and need to step up and fix THEIR problems. Instead of forcing [XXX] old and in poor health seniors to fix it. At just over 130K miles, we have a cracked engine block.
Cracked engine block to the front, lower passenger sideof the engine block behind of the catalytic converter. Issue unknowingly began when commuting on the freeway until car was left parked for an hour. Coolant had puddled under the car in that time and upon inspection noted dried blue coolant sprayed all across the under side of the car originating from the cracked area indicating I was still driving when the leak started without any warnings. Given how much coolant leaked over that hour, this could cause rapid engine overheat while driving if the leak remains unknown. After some research, Honda knew about this manufacturing defect for a number of years and issued an extended warranty but those have all since expired, while engines are continuing to crack and fail.
Engine Block Cracked. Coolant all leaked out of water jacket. (concurrent with TSB 10-048) Yes it is available for inspection. Car Over Heated, while traveling at speed. Manufacturer is denying inspection. No warning lamps, or lights.
Transmission issue Started from no where, I keep my car maintained all the time, making sure of oil, other maintenance. Even exterior cleaning. After checking with many places and online they mentioned it’s the 3rd clutch for the transmission. I have the same issue after driving 600 miles. Still trying to find out why this happened.

The engine block is cracked and is available for inspection upon request. My safety is put at risk when my car overheats regularly. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representative. There were not indications that the problem would occur, until it overheated the first time in December 2021.

Honda put out a warranty extension of ten years for certain Civic models for a known casting issue that led to a cracked engine block. Rather than issuing a recall, they settled some law suits and did a warranty extension. I recently purchased a 2007 Civic from a relative who was unaware of the warranty extension. The car is five years passed the warranty expiration and Honda will do nothing to assist with this very well known issue! I find it completely unfair and unprofessional of Honda to offer no assistance for an issue they admitted full fault to! I now have a cracked engine block and no help from the once reliable auto dealer. I would be more understanding if this wasn't an issue that causes catastrophic failure, but this is unacceptable. I firmly believe that Honda should issue a recall for the known issues and resolve them in a responsible manner.
Engine block failure leaking coolant in cylinders 3 and 4. According to Honda Civic forums, this is a common problem with the 2006-2009 Honda civics.

Block engine started leaking coolant all of a sudden car never overheated.This happen while I was driving in freeway all I saw was smoke coming from under my hood.i had quite a few a cars in my life and I never seen a block engine just leaking coolant from 2 places in the front and if I’m not mistaken 2 more in the back of block Car is available for check up no one but me has checked this out
I have a 2007 Honda Civic with 129K miles. 5/27/2022: First, we had a leak on drivers side and had to replace the steering rack, tie rod ends, hoses which cost $3K. Exactly a month later, my car started leaking from the passenger side. They stated the engine block is cracked and need a new engine. There was a recall but since it is past the 10 year mark, they will not fix it. It wasn't even a true recall bc we got absolutely NO communication about this! I am not spending another $4K to get a new engine. This is completely ridiculous and irresponsible of Honda!!!
Purchased vehicle from private owner. After a year the car began overheating, took in to auto shop for repair and was advised of a cracked engine block. Shop advised of recall on block and referred me to Honda. Honda denied my claim and advised to me the recall was expired.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at 5MPH and parking in front of her residence, she noticed that smoke was coming out of the hood of the vehicle and the vehicle was overheating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle. Upon opening the hood of the vehicle, the contact noticed that the smoke was originating from the engine compartment. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine block was cracked. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was associated with Honda Technical Service Bulletin Number: 10-048. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine block had cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that they could not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

I purchased this Honda Civic In February 2022. I immediately had to have a O2 Sensor replaced. A few days later the car starting running hot and all the antifreeze leaked out. I replaced the antifreeze and had several mechanics look at it. Now the Honda dealer tells me the Engine block is cracked. I know Honda settled a class action lawsuit for this exact reason (engine block cracked) in Honda Civics 2006-2009. Now I can't use my car. I need your assistance in getting my car repaired by Honda due to the nature of the history of the Engine Crack recalls. Thank you
My engine block has cracked. I own an 07 Honda Civic. It overheated on the road and the only way to get it home was drive 15-20 mph even on highways. Honda knows there was a manufacturing defect from 06-2010 and all they did was extend the warranty from ten years of date of purchase. Meaning all of us who bought ours from another owner aren’t covered anymore. This keeps happening time and time again with countless Honda owners. It’s time something is done about this.
My Civic was diagnosed with a cracked engine block, an issue known by Honda to be problematic, as they issued an extended warranty on the engines that ended in 2018. However, the extension has expired despite the fact that many Honda owners continue to experience this problem (see https://www.8thcivic.com/threads/documenting-cracked-engine-block-for-those-out-of-the-warranty-coverage.609546/page-7). This issue should be considered more serious than just an extended warranty, as an engine leaking coolant could easily overheat and cause serious problems on a road trip, especially in the part of the country I live in (Montana), where summers are hot and dry and wildfires are easily ignited. The Carfax report for the vehicle I own--which I purchased used in September 2021--suggested that this would be the perfect vehicle to buy, with a regular maintenance history and lower-than-usual mileage. No indication at all of an extended warranty or potential issues that I should be aware of. Fortunately a friend discovered the issue when he noticed coolant leaking when he changed a tire for me rather than me discovering it while driving to Colorado or Michigan to visit family, when the engine may have indeed leaked enough coolant without me noticing to cause serious problems. I am attaching the report from the mechanic who diagnosed the issue, which I sent to Honda to open a case for assistance with a repair (which they declined, citing the expiration of the extended warranty).

Engine Block cracked and leaked all coolant abruptly. Car has ~47k miles on it. Honda addressed this issue by extending the warranty discreetly to 10 years with unlimited mileage. This warranty extension was clearly designed to target owners who had more drive time than others. The bulletin posted here -> https://static.oemdtc.com/TSB/A10-048.pdf states it was posted in January of 2015. That means my well-cared-for 2007 Civic had only two years to encounter the issue, or else the replacement would not be honored. I purchased the car in 2019 used, and did not realize the engine was to be faulty. Not even 50k miles into the car's life the engine block failed, almost catastrophically. This leak could have lead to a fire hazard had I not been paying attention to the car's temperature. This is absolutely abysmal practice for a parts+labor fix that costs $5000+ due to a faulty designed engine. Honda doesn't even partially cover these costs despite knowing and acknowledging their issue in a poor fashion. To only provide repairs for people who encountered the issue when they knew it would keep coming up for owners after their warranties is completely unfair and should not be allowed, especially when lives are potentially at stake from the damage such a fault may cause.
As I was driving down the road my car began to smoke and I noticed it was overheating at a stop light. I managed to be able to pull off of the road before the smoke got any worse. It may have had the potential to cause a fire. I was able to fill it with enough fluid to manage to take the car to my house so we could take a closer look at the issue. We found that there was coolant leaking out of the engine block and that there is a known service bulletin for the issue that has been released by Honda. It was apparently only applicable to cars that were less than 10 years old to cover under warranty. Given that my car only has 81,000 miles on it I would expect it would be covered under this warranty but they are telling me they will not cover any of the costs at all.

The engine block cracked which resulted in the coolant leaking out of the vehicle. This is a safety issue to myself and others on the road as the engine could seize. The engine and coolant system were inspected and the problem has been confirmed by an independent mechanic. The first symptoms of an issue appeared on 09/12/2021 after I exited a highway and stopped at a traffic light. White smoke was coming from the hood and I could smell burning coolant. Honda is aware of a manufacturing defect of these engine blocks and issued an extended warranty for 10 years past original purchase date. This is a dangerous safety issue and Honda should be recalling all of these vehicles regardless of age.
There is a crack in the block that has nothing to do with external damage or lack of maintenance. It is available for inspection upon request. The engine lost a significant amount of coolant and started to overheat on the highway. This could have resulted in engine seizure and a major accident. Our service person has confirmed that the block is cracked and that this has been identified by Honda as a known manufacturing defect. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else. The Honda dealer is not interested. The only warning was that the temperature gauge shot up.
In January of 2020 my engine started to overheat, It was lack of coolant of course, so after that incident I have to check every few days and I have to add more coolant into the vehicle, I have had it checked by three different mechanics and they said there is no leaks, but I keep having to add coolant to the reservoir, and when I don't check after a week the radiator is empty. I have heard about cracked engine blocks in my model, yet Hondas website says my vehicle has no recalls. This website says I have NINE that have NOT been repaired. I have tried calling Honda and they told me I had to pay for any engine issues since I bought the vehicle outside of the warranty time limit. I really like the car it's a shame.
Cracked Engine Block at Just over 50,000 miles. Engine began to get overheated on Highway and lost power. Daughter coasted off highway into parking lot. Everyone in the area of car including driver was put a risk . Upon research, found out this was a known issue on this VIn and there was a warranty extension that expired in 2016. No notice was sent to me or my father in law (original owner) regarding this issue.Dealership did not inform me.

HONDA HAS PRODUCED FAULTY ENGINE BLOCKS ON CIVIC MODELS FROM 2006-2009 THAT TEND TO CRACK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL ON A HIGHWAY AND LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. HONDA EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY FROM 7 TO 10 YEARS INSTEAD OF ISSUING A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THEY SOLD A FAULTY PRODUCT. ON TUESDAY, OCT 27TH 2020, DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE CAR TEMPERATURE GAUGE MAXED OUT AND SHAKING WAS FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL. LUCKILY, THIS OCCURRED COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND NEAR MY RESIDENCE AND NOT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE CAR COULD HAVE STALLED AND CAUSED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA SERVICE CENTER THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD CRACKED. THE ENGINE CRACKING WAS THE REASON THE CARS WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS BUT THE EXTENSION OF THE WARRANTY TO MY VEHICLE HAS EXPIRED. HONDA HAS QUOTED ME $6,395.40 TO REPLACE A KNOWN FAULTY ENGINE BLOCK. I BELIEVE A FAULTY ENGINE BLOCK CREATES AN UNSAFE CONDITION TO ALL DRIVERS AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY HONDA BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

MY AUNT, PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2007. SHE DIED IN 2015 AND OUR MOTHER PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE ESTATE. AFTER THE PURCHASE WE SAW THE RE-CALL AND 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF "ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING". WE TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER WHO SAID THAT SINCE THERE WAS NO COOLANT LEAKING, THERE WAS NO CRACK IN THE BLOCK AND HE COULD NOT FIX A CAR THAT WAS NOT IN NEED OF REPAIR. THE CARE HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. MY MOM DIED THIS FEBRUARY AND WE AGAIN PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE ESTATE. IT HAD 75,000 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEK, THE ENGINE BLOCK STARTED LEAKING AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN ENGINE BLOCK CRACK, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT HAD EXCEEDED THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ONLY HAD 79,000 MILES ON IT. MY HONDA CIVIC HAS COMPLETELY OVERHEATED THREE TIMES TO THE POINT OF NEEDING TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKET, WATER PUMP, RADIATOR AND COILS. ONCE WAS IN 2014, AGAIN IN 2018 AND NOW IN 2020. IT IS NOW DISCOVERED THE CAUSE OF ALL THESE OVER HEATING PROBLEMS OVER THE YEARS WAS DUE TO A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WHICH THERE WAS A 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE. I TOOK MY CIVIC INTO BRANDON HONDA IN FLORIDA ON MARCH 5TH, 2016 AND NOTHING WAS SAID OR DONE RELATING TO THE ISSUE OF THE CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WHICH HONDA HAD BEEN FULLY AWARE OF SINCE AT LEAST 2014 WHERE IT WAS STATED ON CONSUMER REPORTS. I MAINTAINED MY RADIATOR AS WELL AS WATER PUMP AND HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED EACH TIME SO CLEARLY THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WAS THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK.

THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A COOLANT LEAK DUE TO A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE DRIVEN AND WHILE IT IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION, REPAIRS ARE ECONOMICALLY UNFEASIBLE. THIS IS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC EX WITH THE R18 ENGINE. IT HAS A CLEAN TITLE AND I AM THE FIRST AND ONLY OWNER. HONDA KNOWS THAT THESE ARE DEFECTIVE ENGINES AS THEY CREATED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048 IN RESPONSE TO THESE FAILURES. THEY DID NOT HOWEVER ISSUE A RECALL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THIS FAILURE COULD OCCUR IN HIGHWAY DRIVING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND SEIZE AND THE DRIVER COULD THEREFORE POTENTIALLY BE UNABLE TO LEAVE THE ACTIVE TRAFFIC LANES. REGARDLESS, EVEN IF THE DRIVER COULD MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER, THAT IS NOT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION JUST AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISE QUICKLY PAST IT'S NORMAL RANGE. I QUICKLY GOT OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE RADIATOR. HE DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK. HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH 2007 CIVICS. HE TOLD ME I COULD PUT ANOTHER MOTOR IN IT OR BUY ANOTHER CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND I HAD EVERY INTENTION TO KEEP IT FOR SEVERAL MORE YEARS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT HONDA DID NOT INFORM ME OF THE DEFECTS IN THE ENGINE.

AS MANY OF THE OTHER PEOPLE, I HAVE A LEAKING COOLANT CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO POOR CASTING, THUS RESULTING IN THE CAR TO DANGEROUSLY OVERHEAT. THEY SUGGEST FOR ONE TO GO IN FOR $100 + INSPECTION THAT DOES NOT COMPLETELY GUARANTEE AID. THE PROBLEMS I ENCOUNTER INCLUDE: AN ONGOING LEAK OF DANGEROUS COOLANT LIQUIDS WHILE DRIVING/PARKED, EXCESSIVE OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING, AND THE TEAR DOWN OF PARTS(COILS, CYLINDERS, AND SPARK PLUGS) DUE TO UNSTABLE/WORRISOME HIGH TEMPERATURES. I HAVE OVERLOOKED MANY FORUMS AND THREADS OF UNHAPPY HONDA DRIVERS THAT ARE ENCOUNTERING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAVE. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOUND HERE HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY IN RECENT DAYS. I PLEAD/BEG FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE! MANY OF THE PEOPLE ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM ARE OF LOW INCOME, FEW OF WHICH CANNOT AFFORD REPAIR COSTS AND/OR PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE; WE PURCHASE THESE TYPE OF CARS FOR THEIR SO-CALLED RELIABILITY. IN MY CASE, I AM A UNIVERSITY STUDENT WHO VITALLY NEEDS A SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. ONE MAY ARGUE THAT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS THE SOLUTION, BUT THAT LIMITS MY POSSIBILITY FRONTIER AS I ALSO HAVE TO WORK; PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION COSTS TIME ONE COULD BE USING ELSEWHERE. AFTER INSPECTION, MY CAR WAS OUT OF COOLANT AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR TO ED NAPLETON HONDA IN OAK LAWN ON 8/26/19 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND WAS CAUSING A LEAK OF THE COOLANT WHICH CAUSES OVERHEATING IN VEHICLES. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN HONDA CIVIC MODELS 2006-2009, I WAS TOLD THAT HONDA ISSUED TWO WARRANTY EXTENSIONS FOR UP TO 10 YEARS AND THAT MY CAR WAS TWO YEARS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. BECAUSE I'M THE ORIGINAL AND SOLE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE WITH GREAT MAINTENANCE HISTORY, THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER SUBMITTED A GOODWILL REQUEST TO HONDA CORPORATE ASKING FOR THE COST OF REPAIR TO BE COVERED. HOWEVER, THE REQUEST WAS DENIED BY THE REGIONAL HONDA DISTRICT PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER. I ESCALATED THE SITUATION TO HONDA CORPORATE AND FOUND OUT FROM A CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST THAT HONDA DID NOT SEND THE LETTER INFORMING ME OF THE DEFECT AND WARRANTY EXTENSION TO MY CORRECT ADDRESS. FURTHERMORE, IT WAS NOT AN ADDRESS THAT I HAD EVER PROVIDED TO HONDA. AFTER ESCALATING MY ISSUE TO THE REGIONAL CASE MANAGER, I WAS STILL REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE. THERE ARE OVER 300 COMPLAINTS ABOUT CRACKED ENGINE BLOCKS IN 06-09 HONDA CIVICS ON THE CAR COMPLAINTS WEBSITE ALONE. MANY OWNERS STATE THAT THEIR VEHICLES BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. THIS QUESTIONS HONDA'S KNOWLEDGE OF THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE BLOCK AND ALL PARTS INVOLVED. WARRANTY EXTENSION 10-048 STATES HONDA IS ONLY GOING TO PAY THE REPAIR IF IT IS WITHIN 10 YEARS FORM ORIGINAL PURCHASE. WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED 4/2017. ALMOST 3 YEARS OUT OF WARRANTY. I TOLD THEM THIS CAR IS SERVICED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA ABOUT THIS 10 YEAR EXTENSION WARRANTY. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY 5K FOR REPAIR. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NO AMOUNT OF MAINTENANCE IS GOING TO AVOID THIS. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND GAVE ME A CASE #. INITIALLY THEY SAID 10% THAT WENT TO 15% AND FINALLY 20% IS THE ONLY PERCENTAGE THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR. IT LEAVES ME WITH $3900 TO PAY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. HONDA IS PROTECTING ITSELF FROM PAYING WHEN THEY SHOULD BE AT LEAST EXTENDED THE WARRANTY WITH SPECIFICS FOR OWNERS WHO ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AND UNFORTUNATELY THEIR ENGINE BLOCK BROKE. I

IT WAS DIAGNOSED YESTERDAY 1/25/19 BY A HONDA DEALER WITH A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. HONDA CORPORATE IS NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. SEE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 10-48. THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR THOSE OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WITHIN THAT 10 YEAR PERIOD OF TIME. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. HONDA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT THAT THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED BUT ARE ONLY FIXING IT IF IT HAPPENS WITHIN A 10 YEAR PERIOD REGARDLESS IF THE MILES ARE LOW, AS IN MY VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE CAN RESULT IN A CAR FIRE FROM OVERHEATING, SO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA IS IGNORING BY NOT DECLARING A RECALL. THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT HONDA HAS FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED. A RECALL MUST BE DECLARED SO THAT OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE PROTECTED FROM A POTENTIAL CAR FIRE FROM THE ENGINE OVERHEATING.

2007 HONDA CIVIC CRACK IN THE ENGINE LESS THAN 85,000 MILES ON IT AND TINA IN CORPORATE WANTS TO ACT LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL TO PAY FOR A TOW AND PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS. BY THE WAY TINA SAID SHE WORKS IN CORPORATE AND KNOWS EVERYTHING BUT COULD NOT TELL ME IF HONDA WOULD HELP ME OUT IN THIS SITUATION.
AT 110,000 MILES, MY CAR DEVELOPED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. I WAS PARKED AND NOTICED COOLANT LEAKING FROM MY CAR. MY CAR WAS TOWED BY AAA TO KEYES HONDA AND DIAGNOSED. IT WAS FOUND THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THIS MAJOR DEFECT AND DID NOT INFORM CONSUMERS. INSTEAD, THEY QUIETLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BY ONE YEAR INSTEAD OF ISSUING A RECALL. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE REPAIR COST IS $5-6000. AMERICAN HONDA WILL ONLY PAY A VERY SMALL PORTION, LEAVING THE BULK OF THE COST TO THE CONSUMER.

I WENT HOME AND GOOGLED MY ISSUE. CONSUMERS REPORTS HAD AN ARTICLE DESCRIBING THE ISSUE WITH 2006-2009 HONDA'S WHICH WERE CRACKING AND LEAKING COOLANT. I FOUND A NUMBER AND CONTACTED HONDA BUT THEY INFORMED ME THAT I AM OVER THE WARRANTY LIMIT. I AM STILL WAITING ON A FINAL RESPONSE. I USE MY CAR FOR WORK SO IT ISN'T HEAVILY USED. I KNOW I'M WITHIN THE RANGE OF MANY WHO'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN MORE THAN 10 YEARS TO ADD THE MILES THAT WOULD BE NEEDED FOR THE ENGINE TO START TO FAIL. I HAVE ONLY 160K MILES ON THIS CAR BUT YET AM OUT OF LUCK AS IT'S PAST THAT 10 YEAR TIME LIMIT. THIS IS HIGHLY UNETHICAL OF HONDA AS THEY DID NOT SEND OUT ANY RECALL NOTICE. ON JANUARY 2ND, 2018 , WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET TO A LOCAL AAA APPROVED AUTO REPAIR CARE CENTER WHEN THE ENGINE OF MY HONDA CIVIC BECAME OVERHEATED CAUSING FUMES/SMOKE. DUE TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING, FURTHER TESTS WERE DONE, AND REPLACING THE WATER PUMP AND PERFORMING VPS COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH WAS RECOMMENDED. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED IT THOROUGHLY AND DISCOVERED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. ONLINE I STUMBLED ACROSS SEVERAL WEB SITES INDICATING PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH ENGINE BLOCKS WITH SOME HONDA CIVICS. I CALLED AMERICA HONDA WHO SAID I NEEDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A HONDA GARAGE TO CONFIRM THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS I DID AND IT WAS REINSPECTED AND CONFIRMED BY THE HONDA MECHANICS THAT THERE WAS INDEED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE HONDA GARAGE FOR OVER THREE MONTHS NOW WHILE AMERICA HONDA DECIDED HOW MUCH THEY CAN HELP WITH REPLACING THE ENGINE. THEY WILL REPLACE MY ENGINE AFTER MY DEDUCTIBLE OF $2500. I HAVE RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THIS AS IT'S BEEN A LONG WAIT AND I NEED MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD. I UNDERSTAND FROM AMERICAN HONDA THAT THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WAS 10 YEARS FROM FIRST PURCHASE AND ONLY THE FIRST OWNER WOULD HAVE RECEIVED INFORMATION ON THIS WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE I AM 5 MONTHS PASSED MY 10 YEAR WARRANTY, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. MY ISSUE IS, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS? WITH THE ENGINE CASTING ISSUE A PERFECTLY MAINTAINED VEHICLE IS STILL BOUND TO OVERHEAT AT SOME POINT IN TIME BECAUSE A BAD ENGINE BLOCK WILL EVENTUALLY LEAK COOLANT. THE UNKNOWN CUSTOMER EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS GOOD FOR SOMETHING LIKE 8 YEARS, OR MAYBE 10, I DON'T KNOW. IN THE LAST YEAR I'VE HAD 3 COIL PACKS GO BAD IN THIS CIVIC ENGINE, THE WATER PUMP REPLACED AND THEN REPLACED A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THE ENGINE KEPT OVERHEATING PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE LEAKING ENGINE BLOCK. MY DAUGHTER WAS LEFT STRANDED 3 TIMES ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS ENGINE BLOCK CASTING ISSUE WITH A FORESEEN FUTURE FAILURE THAT WAS HIDDEN FROM THE CUSTOMER. THE LAST TIME THE CAR QUIT SHE WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. EVERYTHING I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET POINTS TO HONDA ONLY HONORING WHAT THEY WANT TO HONOR ON THIS KNOW MANUFACTURING PROBLEM, AND THIS IS ONLY AFTER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN OVERHEATED, AND SOMETIMES LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD IN MANY CASES BECAUSE THE COIL PACKS GO BAD AND DO NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO RESTART AND RUN SAFELY. HONDA HAS NOT BEEN FORTHRIGHT CONCERNING THE CASTING MALFUNCTION OF THE 2006 THROUGH EARLY 2009 ENGINE BLOCK. THEY ARE NOT ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR THIS LEAK, AND IF AN ENGINE SNEAKS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DATE THEN ALL COST IS ON YOU. A SAFETY RECALL NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT ON THESE ENGINES, AND HONDA NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO DO THE RIGHT THING SINCE TO DATE IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN A GOOD CORPORATE CITIZEN. TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN, I AM THE SOLE OWNER OF A 2007 HONDA CIVIC WITH 57,576 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A FORMAL CLAIM AGAINST AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY FOR NOT EXTENDING THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO AN ENGINEERING/MANUFACTURING DEFECT DURING THE PRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLE. ON 2/1/18 MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED BY A HONDA CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN, WHO DETERMINED THAT MY ENGINE BLOCK WAS LEAKING COOLANT DUE TO A CRACK BETWEEN CYLINDERS 1 & 2 ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BLOCK. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT HONDA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BLOCK TO COVER THIS ISSUE BUT MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED BY 3 MONTHS AND THEREFORE HONDA WOULD NOT COVER IT. SO, I DECIDED TO FILE A FORMAL CLAIM WITH HONDA AND AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH FOR A WEEK AND A HALF THEY AGREED TO PAY 50% OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BLOCK, WHICH MEANT THAT I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY $2,658.75 TO MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE. I FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE ENGINE BLOCK REPLACEMENT 100% FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. ALSO, THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, HAS LOW MILES, AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS PURCHASED AT. AS A CUSTOMER, WHO PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO INVEST MONEY ON REPLACING THE MOTOR DUE TO A DEFECT. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE . I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS SHOCKED WHEN I WAS TOLD I HAD A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. I WAS FURTHER INFORMED HONDA HAD IDENTIFIED THE DEFECT AND EXTENDED A WARRANTY FOR IT. AFTER A RADIATOR, HOSES WATER PUMP AND ALL OTHER THINGS A CAR WOULD NEED TO FUNCTION INVOLVING COOLANT WAS REPLACED I WAS LEFT CLUELESS AND STUMPED. THEREFORE, I WENT TO HONDA FORUMS AND GOOGLE, AND THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR CIVICS BECAUSE THEY WERE DEVELOPING A PROBLEM WITH CRACKED BLOCKS. THIS EXPLAINED EVERYTHING, WENT TO FORUMS AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS THE WORST AND BASICALLY TOLD MOST PEOPLE THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE DID NOT EVEN RECEIVE A NOTICE SUCH AS MYSELF. THE ENGINE BLOCKS AREA COMPLETELY WEAK AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS ISSUE USUALLY OCCURS AROUND 80,000-110,000 MILES. THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE CASE BECAUSE YET AGAIN THE NEXT DAY DEC.27TH 2017 IT OVERHEATED AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED A SEVERE COOLANT LEAK COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. WHEN I GOT THE CAR HOME I DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED A HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN (ABOVE) AND SAW WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES HAVING THIS ISSUE. WE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY STARTED A CASE FOR US AND RECOMMENDED THAT WE TAKE IT TO OUR LOCAL HONDA TO BE INSPECTED FURTHER. WE MADE A APPOINTMENT FOR THE INSPECTION AND AFTER HONDA INSPECTED IT THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS DO TO THEIR FAULTY DEFECTED PRODUCT. HONDA SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX THE ISSUE. THIS CAR WAS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED BY MY LOCAL HONDA AND HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS BULLETIN OR ELSE WE WOULD HAD BROUGHT OUR CIVIC IN SOONER BEFORE THERE SUPPOSED EXTRA 10 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. HE WAS DRIVING HIS CAR WHEN IT JUST STARTED TO SHUT DOWN AND HE HAD TO PULL OVER. THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE HE WAS DRIVING AND GOT SO HOT THAT IT MELTED THE OIL DIP STICK (SEE IMAGE), LUCKY IT DID NOT GO ON FIRE, THE IGNITION COIL WAS ALSO MELTED TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. I KNOW THAT HONDA EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY ON THIS, AND MY CAR IS 2 MONTHS PASS THAT DATE WITH ONLY 57K MLES ON IT. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR A KNOW ISSUE THAT CAN SHOW UP AT GIVEN TIME. WHETHER IT IS 5,10 OR 20 YEARS IT IS A KNOW DEFECT AND HONDA AS COMPANY SHOULD BE STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION OF THIS ISSUE IN WRITING FROM HONDA AT ANYTIME TO WATCH FOR THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND IT WOULD BE A FINANCIAL BURDEN TO DO A COMPLETE RECALL BUT I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS POTENTIAL DANGER.

MY CAR WAS PURCHASED IN OCT OF 2006 AND INCIDENT OCCURRED IN SEPT OF 2017. MY VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BUT HONDA HAS ONLY OFFERED TO PAY $3000 OF THE $6100 REPAIR. I FIND THAT THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT AND SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS MODEL AND NOT WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO CRACK. THEY KNEW OF THIS DEFECT AND PLAYED THE ODDS THAT NOT ALL OF THE CARS WOULD BREAKDOWN. I NEVER EVEN RECIEVED THE NOTIFICATION OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I FOUND OUT ABOUT IT AFTER BREAKDOWN AND RESEARCHING IT ON INTERNET. A FULL RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED IF THEY KNEW THERE WAS A FAULTY ENGINE BLOCK.

ON AUGUST 31, 2017 WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE HOOD SUDDENLY. FORTUNATELY I MANAGED TO PULL OVER THE CAR TO A SAFE PLACE IMMEDIATELY BESIDE THE HIGHWAY OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A FATAL SITUATION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEAN HONDA AT PITTSBURGH WHERE THEY PERFORMED THE DIAGNOSIS TO FIND THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THERE WAS CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WHICH HAS CAUSED THE COOLANT TO LEAK FROM THE ENGINE AND HENCE OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE HAS HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED AND FEW OTHER PARTS AS WELL (LIKE SPARK PLUG ETC.) TO MAKE THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN WHICH WOULD COST ME AROUND $4000. I DID SOME RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT MOST OF THE 2006 TO 2009 CIVICS HAD THE ENGINE CRACK ISSUE AND TSB 10-048 WAS ISSUED AND THE WARRANTY OF SUCH ENGINES WERE EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS AND THAT WOULD COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE IF SUCH ISSUES ARE FOUND. I CHECKED WITH MY SERVICE CONSULTANT AT DEAN HONDA IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. HE DID A VIN INQUIRY AND SAID THE WARRANT HAS EXPIRED 10 DAYS AGO AND THIS WON'T BE COVERED. (THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE OF THE CAR WAS 22-AUG-2007 AND THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME ON 31-AUG-2017). THIS IS A BIG BLOW TO ME. THIS IS MY FIRST CAR IN THE US. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS THE SECOND OWNER IN JULY 2015 WITH ONLY 36000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE HARDLY DRIVEN 15000 MILES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. THE PREVIOUS OWNER ALSO NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT AND THAT'S WHY I PURCHASED IT WITH CONFIDENCE. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUNDS 100S MAYBE 1000S OF REPORTS ON THIS SECRET EXTENDED WARRANTY ON CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK ON MODELS 2006 TO 2009 HONDA CIVIC. MOST REPORTS WERE THAT HONDA COULDN'T DO ANYTHING IF YOUR VEHICLE WAS DEEMED SALVAGE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER MY MOTHER OR, MYSELF COULD'VE BEEN IN BAD ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN ZERO ACCIDENTS THAT WOULD IMPACT THE ENGINE ASIDE FROM TINY FENDER BENDERS IN THE SHOPPING MARKET. HE APPLIED A COOLANT PRESSURE TESTER TO THE RADIATOR AND FOUND A LEAK COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. I HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED BY HIM. I FILED A CLAIM WITH HONDA UNDER THE RECALL TO GET MY MONEY BACK. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY THE CLAIM, EVEN THOUGH RECALL 10-048 FROM HONDA OFFERS TO REPAY CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR EXPENSE BY WARRANTY UP TO 8 YEARS AND UNLIMITED MILEAGE. AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS 7 YEARS, 1 MONTH OLD. I CLAIMED THIS TO HONDA IN AUGUST 2015, WAS DENIED IN SEPTEMBER, 2015, REASON GIVEN WAS THAT MY BROTHER IS NOT QUALIFIED AS A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE, BUT A COOLANT LEAK IS EASY TO FIND WITH A PRESSURE TESTER AND MY BROTHER HAS WORKED ON ENGINES FOR YEARS. CALLED HONDA, THEY WERE LITTLE TO NO ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN FOR ME TO CONTACT LOCAL DEALER. IF THIS IS A COMMONLY OCCURRING PROBLEM, SHOULDN'T HONDA ADDRESS IT? REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND ENGINE AIR FILTER. ONE WEEK LATER, HEATER STOPPED WORKING. NEXT DAY, RADIATOR (COOLANT) GAUGE ON DASH MOVED UP PAST MID-POINT AND HITS 3/4 POINT. I STOPPED DRIVING AND HAD A FRIEND BRING COOLANT WHICH WAS 1 GAL LOW! (NOTE: MECHANIC CHECKED AND FOUND COOLANT LEVEL FULL WHEN CAR WAS IN FOR ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM LESS THAN A 10 DAYS PREVIOUSLY. I DRIVE LESS THAN 15 MILES PER DAY...ALL LOW SPEED. I PARK OFF STREET AND HAVE CAR IN ONE SPOT FOR 9 HOURS DURING WORK AND NEVER SAW ANY FLUID ON PARKING SPOT.) ALL "SYMPTOMS" DESCRIBED IN HONDA LETTER MATCHED WHAT I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING (UNEXPLAINED/UNDETECTED COOLANT LOSS, OVERHEATING, ENGINE PROBLEM AS EVIDENCED BY DASH INDICATOR). BROUGHT CAR TO HONDA DEALER. THEY SAID NO PROBLEM WITH ENGINE BLOCK. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK RADIATOR THERMOSTAT. THEY SAID NO PROBLEM. THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY I LOST COOLANT. TEXAS - WAS TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN CAR SUDDENLY FELT LIKE A TIRE WAS GOING DOWN. QUICKLY EXITED AND CAR DIED AS THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SHOWED VEHICLE WAS HOT. HAD NO PRIOR WARNING INDICATION ENGINE WAS HOT. THIS TOTAL INCIDENT SUDDENLY OCCURRED AND ENDED IN LESS THAN 1 MINUTE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC WHO MAINTAINS VEHICLE ON A REGULAR BASIS. MECHANIC ADVISED THAT ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY GONE DUE TO CRACKED BLOCK WHICH ALSO BLEW THE HEAD. MECHANIC FURTHER ADVISED THAT HONDA HAD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REFERENCE THIS VEHICLE MODEL WITH ENGINE AND COOLING PROBLEMS AND HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HONDA IS REPLACING THE WHOLE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AT NO FURTHER COST TO ME. VERY HAPPY WITH MY DEALERSHIP. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ACCOMPANIED BY A BURNING ODOR. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATORS BEING ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A SAFE LOCATION AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

WHILE DRIVING OUR 2007 HONDA CIVIC OUR AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN I TOOK THE HONDA IN FOR REPAIR OUR WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE CONDENSER BEING DAMAGED. A SMALL HOLE WAS THE CULPRIT OF THE PROBLEM AND IRONIC ENOUGH I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THESE ISSUES CAUSING MOST OF THEIR VEHICLE GOING IN FOR REPAIRS THAT COST 500- 1000 TO FIX. I THINK IT CRAP AND ITS ALL OVER THE FORUMS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PLACE TO HAVE THIS SITUATION FIXED IT CRAP. HONDA NEEDS A RECALL TO BE DONE ON THESE PARTS. *TR

HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AC SINCE I'VE BOUGHT THE CAR. NORMALLY SOMETHING SMALL LIKE THE BLOWER HOWEVER THIS WEEK IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR. HAVE MY CAR MAINTENANCE ON A REGULAR BASIS, OVERCHARGE OF SYSTEM IS NOT POSSIBLE, SO I'M NOT SURE WHY THIS COMPRESSOR WOULD BE GOING OUT AFTER ONLY 5 YEARS. COST OVER $1200 TO FIX. DECIDED TO RESEARCH A LITTLE ON THIS MODEL AND APPARENTLY THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS COMMON ON THE 07 MODEL. I BELIEVE HONDA IS AWARE OF THE FAULTY PART AND IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH A GENTLEMAN WHO WAS VERY PLEASANT HOWEVER THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY ABOVE HIS PAY GRADE. HE SAID IF I HAD CONTACTED THEM BEFORE I HAD THE PART FIXED THEY MIGHT HAVE HELPED.
