Engine Block Cracked. Coolant all leaked out of water jacket. (concurrent with TSB 10-048) Yes it is available for inspection. Car Over Heated, while traveling at speed. Manufacturer is denying inspection. No warning lamps, or lights.

Transmission issue reported and the mechanic was surprised bc the car was running very well and I maintain it all the times. Engine light was on as well as the D was blinking Green at the time. Very Safety concerns when the car does have this issues, the car can’t shift to next speed this could lead to a crash anywhere. Of course people start to get upset due to the car doesn’t run as expected on the road. Mechanic changed the 3rd clutch for the transmission but after one week I h am having the same issue again. Transmission issues are very expensive and needs a very experienced mechanic to take care of it. The issue was confirmed by mechanic and certified mechanic place. I had to tow my car and costed my a lot of money. I will attach the communication with the insurance company.

My Civic was diagnosed with a cracked engine block, an issue known by Honda to be problematic, as they issued an extended warranty on the engines that ended in 2018. However, the extension has expired despite the fact that many Honda owners continue to experience this problem (see https://www.8thcivic.com/threads/documenting-cracked-engine-block-for-those-out-of-the-warranty-coverage.609546/page-7). This issue should be considered more serious than just an extended warranty, as an engine leaking coolant could easily overheat and cause serious problems on a road trip, especially in the part of the country I live in (Montana), where summers are hot and dry and wildfires are easily ignited. The Carfax report for the vehicle I own--which I purchased used in September 2021--suggested that this would be the perfect vehicle to buy, with a regular maintenance history and lower-than-usual mileage. No indication at all of an extended warranty or potential issues that I should be aware of. Fortunately a friend discovered the issue when he noticed coolant leaking when he changed a tire for me rather than me discovering it while driving to Colorado or Michigan to visit family, when the engine may have indeed leaked enough coolant without me noticing to cause serious problems. I am attaching the report from the mechanic who diagnosed the issue, which I sent to Honda to open a case for assistance with a repair (which they declined, citing the expiration of the extended warranty).

While driving my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid at approximately 5 mph, entering a left hand turn from a complete stop, the passenger side driveshaft broke (i.e., the so-called "CV axle" on my front wheel drive vehicle), and a piece of the driveshaft approximately 8 inches long fell into the roadway with a loud audible clunk. We pulled off to the side of the road and were immediately able to retrieve the broken piece. I still have the broken piece in my possession, and I could mail it to an investigator if desired. Photos of the broken axle piece are also attached, together with a dealer repair invoice which lists the Honda part numbers for the replacement parts (due to an availability issue, the dealer used non-OEM parts to perform the repair, whose part numbers may or may not match the original OEM part numbers). It's clear from inspection that the broken driveshaft was initially covered by an anti-rust coating (portions of the coating are still visibly adhered), however most of this coating wore away and the underlying metal was substantially corroded by salt, which ultimately caused the part to fail. This vehicle has been registered in the state of Massachusetts (a so-called "salt-belt" state) for at least as long as I have owned it (since 2010) and possibly before that as well. The failure mode of the driveshaft (i.e., salt corrosion and breakage due to a failed anti-rust coating) precisely matches the failure mode described in an existing NHTSA Recall Notice: 20V-770, which covers this same part. This existing recall notice already applies to several other Honda vehicles in "salt-belt" states, however it does not yet extend to my specific model and year. Given the close similarities between the failure in my vehicle, and the existing recall notice, I would like to ask the NHTSA to further extend recall 20V-770 to incorporate my vehicle as well.

AFTER CAR WARMS UP THESE SAME SYMPTOMS START TO HAPPEN CODES FOR POWERTRAN CONTROL MODUL COMPUTER AND IMA SYSTEM THIS ALL HAPPEND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNNING .

"TAKATA RECALL". THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON CONSISTENTLY SINCE 2017 INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WHEN GOING DOWNHILL, THE RPM WILL INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY WITHOUT USING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. BOTH SUN VISORS ARE BROKEN...EACH SIDE CAME APART FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE CD PLAYER QUIT WORKING IN 2016. THE AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING IN 2016.

ON JANUARY 2ND, 2018 , WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET TO A LOCAL AAA APPROVED AUTO REPAIR CARE CENTER WHEN THE ENGINE OF MY HONDA CIVIC BECAME OVERHEATED CAUSING FUMES/SMOKE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE AND WOULD THUS BE A SAFETY HAZARD. THE PURPOSE OF TAKING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP WAS INITIALLY JUST TO GET A VEHICLE INSPECTION TEST/REPORT DONE FOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION. DUE TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING, FURTHER TESTS WERE DONE, AND REPLACING THE WATER PUMP AND PERFORMING VPS COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH WAS RECOMMENDED. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED IT THOROUGHLY AND DISCOVERED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. ONLINE I STUMBLED ACROSS SEVERAL WEB SITES INDICATING PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH ENGINE BLOCKS WITH SOME HONDA CIVICS. I CALLED AMERICA HONDA WHO SAID I NEEDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A HONDA GARAGE TO CONFIRM THE CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS I DID AND IT WAS REINSPECTED AND CONFIRMED BY THE HONDA MECHANICS THAT THERE WAS INDEED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE HONDA GARAGE FOR OVER THREE MONTHS NOW WHILE AMERICA HONDA DECIDED HOW MUCH THEY CAN HELP WITH REPLACING THE ENGINE. THEY WILL REPLACE MY ENGINE AFTER MY DEDUCTIBLE OF $2500. I HAVE RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THIS AS IT'S BEEN A LONG WAIT AND I NEED MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD. I UNDERSTAND FROM AMERICAN HONDA THAT THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WAS 10 YEARS FROM FIRST PURCHASE AND ONLY THE FIRST OWNER WOULD HAVE RECEIVED INFORMATION ON THIS WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THAT A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK THAT LEADS TO AN OVERHEATED ENGINE POTENTIALLY CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. AMERICAN HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS DEFECTIVE ENGINE. THEY GAVE ME A FAULTY ENGINE THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE DUE TO OVERHEATING AND SHOULD REPLACE IT ENTIRELY AT THEIR COST. I AM THUS MAKING A COMPLAINT AGAINST AMERICAN HONDA.

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE OR PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.

THE LAST STEP IN THE INSPECTION/REPAIR PROCEDURE (STEP 13) INSTRUCTS TO: CENTER-PUNCH A COMPLETION MARK BELOW THE SEVENTH CHARACTER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT VIN: *SLIDE OPEN THE FRAME NUMBER DOOR ON THE CENTER COWL COVER. *USE A LONG PUNCH TO REACH THE VIN. (SEE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR EXAMPLE) THERE IS NO PUNCH MARK ON MY VEHICLE. IF THIS PORTION OF THE PROCESS WAS NOT COMPLETED, HOW AM I TO BE ENSURED THAT THE PROCEDURE WAS PERFORMED COMPLETELY?

3RD GEAR FAILURE IN TRANSMISSION. GEAR BLEW OUT THE BOTTOM AND TOP CASING OF THE TRANSMISSION AND DESTROYED THE ENTIRE THING. HAD TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY REBUILT (ALMOST $3000). THIS WAS DETERMINED TO BE A MECHANICAL FAILURE. PRIOR TO THIS, I NOTICED THE 3RD GEAR WAS STICKING/FAILING TO SHIFT PROPERLY AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED AND FLUSHED. THIS ONLY APPEARED TO HAVE MASKED THE ISSUE. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE SPEEDOMETER JUMPED TO 0. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS COOL AND IT'S INTERMEDIATE. IT COULD HAPPEN 2 TIMES A DAY OR 2 TIMES A WEEK DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER/DRIVING TIME AND CONDITIONS. I THOUGHT HONDA DEALER OR AMERICAN HONDA CORP. WOULD COME THRU AND FIX WHAT WAS INADEQUATELY DESIGNED/BUILT. THE DEALER TREATED ME LIKE I WAS AN IDIOT, AND HONDA CORP. SAID I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY. $1700 FOR 3RD GEAR, AND THEY DENIED THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE FROM FRONT END. REPLACED REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS 61,275. REPLACED SHOCKS, AND CV BOOTS AT 61,275. STRUTS WERE MAKING NOISE DUE TO CUPPING. STRUTS WERE REPLACED AT 61,275. TWO NEW TIRES THAT WERE RECENTLY REPLACED WERE REPLACED AGAIN. BOTH TIRES WERE FEATHERED AND MAKING NOISE. VEHICLE IS MAINTAINED IN GOOD CONDITION AND IS FOLLOWING THE MANUFACTURER'S MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATION. CAR WAS ALIGNED AS REQUIRED BY MANUFACTURER. AMERICAN HONDA NOR KOLBE HONDA DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE TECHNICAL BULLETINS THAT WERE ISSUED. ALSO, JUST BECAUSE THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OR CORRECTIVE ACTION DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. DESIGN OF THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM MUST BE REVIEWED AGAIN AND TESTED FOR GEOMETRY WITH OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE. HONDA AMERICA SHOULD TIGHTENED ITS QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE SO THAT ITS MANUFACTURING FACILITY WILL NOT RELEASE CARS THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS FAILURE IS THAT CARS BEHIND COME UP ON ME VERY FAST AND I HAVE NO POWER TO GET IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. IT HAS LITTLE ACCELERATION TO MATCH TRAFFIC FLOW. BOUGHT A 2007 HONDA CIVIC IN 2007. TOOK CAR IN FOR MAINTENANCE AT HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT I NEEDED NEW TIRES, AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR. I REPLACED THE TIRES AND THERE WAS A VIBRATING NOISE AND RUMBLE,. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE I GOT NEW TIRES IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT AND THE NOISE WOULD STOP. NOISE NEVER DID STOP. REPLACED THE TIRES AGAIN ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO OR LESS AND WAS ADVISED THAT WE NEEEDED STRUTS, WANTED A SECOND OPINION SO WE WENT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE CONTROLS ARMS WERE BAD AND WE NEEDED NEW TIRES. THIS WAS A WEEK AGO. WE PURCHASED A $1000 EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE CAR. WE CALLED THE WARRANTY PEOPLE AFTER HAVING NO LUCK WITH HONDA OF HIGH POINT, NC. THE WARRANTY COMPNAY SAID THAT HONDA TOLD THEM THAT THEY MADE THE PARTS WRONG. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. EVEN IF WE ARE OUT OF OUR WARRANTY PERIOD THEY SHOULD STILL BE LIABLE BECAUSE THEY MADE THE PART WRONG IN THE BEGINING. HAD THEY ADVISED US OF THE PROBLEM OVER A YEAR AGO, WE WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I AHVE BEEN READING SEVERAL BLOGS AND WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES HAVING THIS PROBLEM. HONDA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS SHOULD BE A MAJOR RECALL! I GUESS IF THE ARMS BREAK WHILE WE ARE RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND WE CRASH AND DIE, THEN HONDA WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

WHILE GOING TO MY DRS. HOME IN TILDON PARK, IN BERKELEY, TO GET TO TILDON PARK, THERE IS A SERIES OF 3 HILLS WITH STOP SIGNS AT THE TOP OF EACH. AFTER STOPPING AT THE SECOND STOP SIGN, WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, AFTER I LET THE CAR ROLL BACK AND I PARKED ON THE CURB FOR 5 MINUTES WITH THE CAR IDLING, FINALLY THE CAR FINISHED GOING UP THE THIRD HILL AND I MADE IT TO THE DRS. HOUSE, FROM THE DRS HOUSE I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS PROBLEM, PLUS, WHEN I GOT TO THE DRS HOUSE, THERE WAS A SMELL, LIKE A SLIPPING CLUTCH OR HOT BRAKES, I ALSO TOLD HONDA OF THIS, THEY MADE ME A APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS APPROACHED BY A SERVICEMAN AND HE ASKED ME,,WHAT WAS I BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR?...I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE TRANS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, I WAS TOLD..TAKE THE CAR HOME, WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THAT YET. WHEN I GOT HOME, I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND I WAS TOLD..TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, SO A HOUR LATER THE CAR WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP. I TOLD THE SERVICEMAN EXACTLY WHERE I WAS WHEN THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED, HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO HAVE A DRIVER GO UP THOSE HILLS AND SEE IF THE CAR WILL DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR TWO DAYS. FINALLY I CALLED AND WAS TOLD..THEY COULDN'T GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE ITSELF. WHEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, I ASKED..DID YOU GO UP TO TILDON PARK?..I WAS TOLD YES. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD TO GO UP THOSE SAME HILLS AGAIN..AND AGAIN>.THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AT THE SECOND HILL., SO THE DEALERSHIP LIED TO ME AND AGAIN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN I WAS TOLD..THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY THINK...THAT AT LOW RPM THE BATTERY WHICH RUNS THE TRANNY DOES NOT CHARGE. I'VE RECEIVED ONE PHONE CALL FROM SOMEONE AT AMERICAN HONDA ASKING ME FOR A OPINION, AND..HE GOT A EARFUL. 2007 CIVIC SI IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR AND GRINDS. TWO ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BY DEALER, BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER EACH REPAIR. PROBLEM STARTED AT AROUND 8K MILES, WAS REPAIRED THEN IT RECURRED AT AROUND 15K MILES. THE ODOMETER IS NOW AT 23K MILES AND THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. I OWN A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE HYBRID BATTERIES DISCHARGE IN WARM WEATHER LEAVING THE CAR DANGEROUSLY UNDER-POWERED. THIS OCCURS SEVERAL TIMES PER DAY AND WHEN IT DOES THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH TO SAFELY MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, CHANGE LANES OR TURN BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID FOR ABOUT 21MONTHS. I STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE IMA (INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST, HYBRID BATTERIES) LAST SUMMER (2008) AND CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES TO DATE (MAY 2009). THE IMA BATTERY THAT POWERS THE ASSIST MOTOR HAS BEEN UNPREDICTABLE AND HAS HAD DEGRADED PERFORMANCE FOR THE PAST YEAR CAUSING THE CAR TO BE UNDERPOWERED AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE IMA SYSTEM ROUTINELY FULLY DISCHARGES (ESPECIALLY DURING THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS IN ARIZONA) AND LEAVES THE CAR ONLY TO RUN ON THE UNDERPOWERED 1.3 L GAS ENGINE. THE CAR IS VERY SLUGGISH, CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES WHEN ACCELERATION IS NEEDED IN CITY OR INTERSTATE DRIVING. MY WIFE DRIVES 3 KIDS TO SCHOOL (35 MILES ON WAY) ON A DAILY BASIS AND IS CONCERNED FOR THE KIDS AND HER SAFETY ON THE HIGHWAY. THE BATTERIES ALSO ARE LOCATED UNDER THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE HEAT THE REAR PASSENGERS (MY KIDS) ARE ALWAYS COMPLAINING THAT THE SEAT IS WARM AND THAT IS EXCESSIVELY HOT IN THE BACK SEAT SINCE THE PROBLEM FIRST WAS OBSERVED IN LAST SUMMER 2008, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIPS. THEY ALL STATE THAT THIS IS 'NORMAL' OPERATION AND UNLESS THE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. THE SERVICE LIGHT THEY ARE REFERRING TO IS THE P1433 BATTERY DEGRADED CODE THAT STATES TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES. IT SEEMS ODD THAT THEY WAIT UNTIL THE BATTERIES ARE TOTALLY FAILED AND DEPLETED BEFORE THEY WILL CHANGE THEM. I NOTICED THAT HONDA DOES HAVE A TSB OUT COVERING EXCESSIVE HEAT AND THAT IT CAN SEVERELY DAMAGE THE IMA BATTERIES. THIS STATES THAT IF THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 150 DEGREES F THAT THE BATTERIES CAN BE DAMAGED OR FAIL. I KNOW THAT HEAT SOAKING THE CAR FOR 8-10 HOURS IN THE FULL SUN AT 110+ DEGREES (SHADE TEMP) CAN EASILY HEAT THE IMA BATTERIES TO VERY CLOSE TO 150 DEGREES. I AM HIGHLY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND KIDS THAT SHE DRIVES AND OTHERS THAT MAY BE EFFECTED. *TR

THIRD GEAR ON MY '07 HONDA CIVIC SI COUPE IS BOTH FREQUENTLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ENGAGE (EVERY THIRD OR FOURTH SHIFT CHANGE) AND POPS OUT OF GEAR DURING DRIVING (TYPICALLY 2-3 TIMES AN HOUR DURING CONTINUOUS DRIVING). THIS POSES POTENTIAL DANGERS WHILE DRIVING AS THERE IS FAILURE IN THE APPLICATION OF POWER TO THE DRIVEN WHEELS, WHICH IS ESSENTIAL FOR CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN TO BE COMMON IN THE 6 SPEED SI TRANSMISSION. HONDA DENIES THE ISSUE, STATING THAT THE ENGAGEMENT PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY NOT FULLY DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH. I ALWAYS FULLY DEPRESS THE CLUTCH WHEN SHIFTING, HAVE DRIVEN MANUALLY TRANSMISSION VEHICLES FOR 41 YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY VEHICLE, LET ALONE A GEARSHIFT WHICH POPS OUT OF GEAR DURING NORMAL DRIVING). THE FAILURE TO ENGAGE IS PROBABLY MORE AN ANNOYANCE THAN AN ISSUE, HOWEVER THE POPPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING IS A SERIOUS ROAD HAZARD AND RISK; FOR EXAMPLE, IF ONE IS CORNERING ON SNOW COVERED OR WET PAVEMENT, THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER TO THE DRIVEN WHEELS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF COURSE AND RESULT IN A CRASH. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN THE OTHER DAY TO HAVE THEM ADDRESS THE 3RD GEAR SYNCRO ISSUE AFTER THEY TOOK THE CAR APART THEY TOLD ME MY CLUTCH PLATE WAS SEVERELY WARN DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I ASKED THEM IF THIS WAS CAUSED FROM THE 3RD SYNCHRO AND I WAS TOLD "NO" BUT I HAVE BEEN READING THAT IT IS A DIRECT RESULT. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HONDA AND THEY NEED TO INCLUDE ALL THE GEARS SYNCHROS AND THE CLUTCH IN THE TSB. THE FAILURE WAS PROGRESSIVE AT TIMES AND INTERMITTENTLY HE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AT SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE ROTOR FAILED IT COULD CAUSE A CRASH. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE FAILURE AND IT IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,800.

THE MALFUNCTION MOSTLY OCCURS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED IS THE HOT SUN, ONCE ENGINE IS STARTED WITHIN 3-10 MINUTES ENGINE WILL RUN ROUGH, THE IMA SYSTEM (INTEGRATED MOTOR ASSIST) WILL START CHARGING THE IMA BATTERY (158 VOLT NICKEL METAL HYDRIDE BATTERY) THEN SUDDENLY EMPTY THE COMPLETE CHARGE OF THE IMA BATTERY WITHIN 10 SECONDS. WHILE THE IMA SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH IS USUALLY 5-20 MINUTES THE BRAKING IS SEVERELY AFFECTED; WHEN LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO SLOW DOWN, IT FEELS LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AND BRAKING FORCE IS GREATLY REDUCED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE GEAR SHIFTER MOVED FROM PARK INTO NEUTRAL. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AUTOMATICALLY AND WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE RPM'S RACED TO AN EXCESSIVELY HIGH RATE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER EACH TIME. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

SLOW THROTTLE RESPONSE SINCE PURCHASE, DOOR GLASS RATTLE SINCE PURCHASE, THE THIRD GEAR WOULD GIVE RESISTANCE, WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION. I PATCHED THE PROBLEM BY CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND INSTALLING A SHORTER SHIFTER YET THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THE ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH THE THIRD GEAR SYNCHRO AND AT ONE POINT STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY MY DRIVING, THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE GOING INTO THIRD GEAR IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT HONDA CORPORATE HAS RELEASED FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. THE HEADLINER RATTLES, DOOR GASKET SEAL HAS BEEN COMING OFF SINCE PURCHASE, SUSPENSION POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE STRUT SINCE PURCHASE AND THE SOUND HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT, THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS REPLACED, THE DRIVER DOOR HITS THE FENDER WHEN OPENING JUST STARTED HAPPENING SINCE HONDA WORKED ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS (RECOMMENDED BY HONDA CORPORATE) AND NOTHING HAS BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED. I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND FOR THE PAST YEAR. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND RECENTLY (WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS) HAVE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION 'SLIPPING' OR NOT ENGAGING PROPERLY. IF IT WERE A CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH (MECHANICAL) IT WOULD BE DESCRIBED AS NEEDING ADJUSTMENT TO LET THE ADJUSTMENT 'OUT' AS TO BETTER ENGAGE THE CLUTCH TO THE POWER SOURCE. SINCE IT IS A CVT, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT AVAILABLE, AND REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY. MY INCIDENT: I WAS DRIVING HOME, WHICH TAKES ME THROUGH ABOUT 33 MILES OF A WINDING HILLY ROAD. THERE WAS A SLOW DRIVER, HOLDING UP ABOUT 6-7 CARS, OF WHICH I WAS PLACED NEXT TO LAST (ONE BEHIND ME.) THERE IS A PASSING LANE THAT WAS APPROACHING, AND WHEN WE REACHED THE PASSING LANE, THE SLOW-POKE PULLED OUT TO LET US PASS. THE SLIPPING OF THIS TRANSMISSION WAS ALMOST A KILLER-AS WE (ALL OF THE TRAILING CARS) SPED UP TO PASS (ALL WITHIN APPROPRIATE SPEEDS, CLEARANCES, ETC). I HAD JUST STARTED TO ACCELERATE, WHEN THIS !@#$% SLIPPING BEGAN, AND I WATCHED AS THE TACH WENT TO ALMOST RED-LINE, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T GAIN ANY SPEED-IT STAYED AT ABOUT 35-36 MPH, WHICH WAS THE SPEED WE WERE GOING WHEN THE PASSING ATTEMPT STARTED. THIS WAS ALLEGEDLY A PROBLEM IN EARLIER YEAR MODELS OF THE SAME VEHICLE, BUT I AM NOT SURE IF THE CAUSE WAS THE SAME. IN ANY CASE, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEVELOPMENT, AND I WANT IT FIXED. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, AND I WILL DRIVE IT TO A HONDA DEALER IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO, BUT I DO NOT WANT ANY TROUBLE GETTING THIS PROBLEM CORRECTED. I OWN A STANDARD TRANSMISSION 2007 CIVIC SI. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO 1ST GEAR AND STARTED MOVING. I THEN TRIED TO SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR INTO 2ND AT APPROXIMATELY 3500 RPM. I HAD THE CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED BUT COULD NOT PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO 2ND GEAR. 2001 HONDA CIVIC WITH 65,000 MILES HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT/REPAIR ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS; EACH TIME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM...THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS BEFORE ENGAGING FULLY IN DRIVE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LEAP FORWARD WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, CREATING A DANGEROUS CONDITION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE NEVER BECAME WARM. THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING HIGH. THE VEHICLE MADE A BUMPING NOISE.
