The contact owns a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and being inspected, the contact became aware that the driver’s and passenger’s side sun visors were split. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown NHTSA Campaign. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

MY CAR HAS A PAINT DEFECT THAT HONDA REFUSES TO FIX. THIS PEELING PAINT STARTED IN 2014, I BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP, BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I NOTIFIED HONDA AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY OVER 3K TO GET THE CAR PAINTED. I HAVE PICTURES OF HUNDREDS OF HONDA'S WITH THE SAME PAINT ISSUES. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION AND HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

IN 2014 WE RECEIVED NOTICED OF A RECALL ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC, ABOUT THE CLEAR COAT PAINT JOB. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HUGHES HONDA IN WARNER ROBINS, GA; THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS AND ONLY PAINTED THE SPOTS THAT WERE FADING. IF THE RECALL IS FOR THE ENTIRE CAR, WHY DID THE DEALERSHIP NOT RE-PAINT THE ENTIRE CAR, SINCE THE CAR HAD A CLEAR COAT RECALL ON IT? I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP A YEAR AFTER I TOOK IT TO GET REPAINTED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WARRANTY WAS UP AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW IN 2018, THE OTHER HALF OF MY CAR IS FADING.
THE CLEAR COAT IS PEELING OFF THE CAR. HONDA HAD ADMITTED A PROBLEM HOWEVER I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECAP/EXTENDED WARRANTY.PROBLEM STARTED OUT SMALL BUT HAS BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM. SHOULD BE COVERED AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (~65-70MPH), THE MOLDING/SEAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD CAME LOOSE, AND BEFORE I COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, IT BROKE FREE. WHILE IT WAS ATTACHED, IT WAS BANGING INTO THE ROOF OF THE CAR AND AGAINST THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOW. IT WAS HITTING THE WINDOW WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT I FEARED IT WOULD CRACK THE GLASS. ADDITIONALLY, THAT IT BROKE FREE AND FELL OFF CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD FOR OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME. IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO, IT SHOWS THE SPACE WHERE THE SEAL CAME LOOSE BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE GLASS, AND THE FRAME AT THE TOP.

TAKATA RECALL WAS REPAIRED 2017. PAINT PEELING MORE THAN HONDA RECALL AREAS. HONDA REFUSES TO REPAINT. 8/2017 9/2017 IN MOTION : DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN AND DROPS DOWN AND BLOCKS MY VIEW OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THIS CAR AT DAVID MCDAVID HONDA OF IRVING (TEXAS) IN 2012, I NOTICED THERE WAS PAINT OR CLEAR COAT PEELING ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. I DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY THINK MUCH OF IT, THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A ONE-OFF PROBLEM, AND ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAINT IT BEFORE I PICKED IT UP-- THEY DID. BEING A FULL-TIME STUDENT AND WORKING FULL TIME, I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT THE CLEAR COAT WAS STARTING TO PEEL FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR AND THEN FORWARD. WHEN I DID NOTICE THE CLEAR COAT I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT REPAINTED AND IT WAS NOT A PRIORITY. WHEN IT GOT EVEN WORSE, I STARTED DOING MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A PAINT REAL FOR HONDAS FOR SEVERAL MODELS ACROSS A RANGE OF YEARS. MINE FELL INTO THAT RANGE. I WENT TO DAVID MCDAVID TO ASK THEM TO REPAINT IT AND HONOR THE WARRANTY, BUT THEY REFUSED SINCE I WAS 3 MONTHS OUT OF THE WARRANTY! WHAT SUCKS IS THAT I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN THE MAIL LETTING ME KNOW THERE WAS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THAT. AND EVEN WORSE, THE DEALERSHIP KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND REFUSED TO HELP. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET THE PAINT JOB WAS THROUGH MY DEALERSHIP. SO NOW I AM STUCK AND MY CAR LOOKS LIKE CRAP. I STILL DO NOT HAVE OVER 1K FOR A PAINT JOB AND NEITHER MY DEALERSHIP OR HONDA IS HELPING.

SUN VISOR BROKE DURING DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. BLOCKING VISUALLY. HONDA WAS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT INVOLVED THE SAME YEAR BUT JUST SLIGHTLY OUT OF VIN NUMBER AREA.

I BROUGHT A HONDA CIVIC 2009 IN 2012,APRIL 12. THE HONDA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SOLD WITH A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO BRING CAR UP TO DATE FOR 36000 MILES/3 YR. HONDA DID NOT OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THESE PURPOSES. THEY CALLED A YEAR LATER TO SEE IF WE WOULD THEN EXTEND THE VEHICLE TO 120 MILES. WE HAD ALREADY PURCHASED AN ADDITIONAL WARRANTY CALLED ASSURANCE PAY TO PAYLINK APPROX 112.00 MO. WE WERE ONE PAYMENT TO THE LAST AND HONDA FINALLY CALLED , WE PURCHASED THEIR WARRANTY TOO. THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN AUTOMATIC FROM THE SALE DATE. DOOR LOCKS AND IGNITION/CYLINDER WORK AND OTHER REPAIRS SUCH AS BREAK WORK HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON VEHICLE SINCE. I AM REPORTING UNFAIR SELLING PRACTICES. DETAILS AND REPAIR WORK WILL BE SUBMITTED UPON REQUEST. THUS VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUES UPON PURCHASE.

I APPROACHED HONDA REGARDING THE ISSUE, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT CONSIDERED UNDER THE COMPANY'S RECALL POLICY. HONDA VEHICLES ARE WELL KNOWN FOR PROBLEMS REGARDING PAINT, AND HONDA AND SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS ARE FULLY AWARE OF SUCH PROBLEMS. I AM LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE TO ADDRESS AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP US CONSUMERS PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS AND GET THE PROTECTION WE NEED AGAINST CORPORATIONS, SUCH AS HONDA, THAT PROFIT FROM US AND DON'T ADEQUATELY STAND BY US BY HONORING THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES.
MY HONDA CIVIC WAS HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BY A FORD RANGER PICKUP TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON A CITY STREET IN SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA AND THE TRUCK WAS HEADING SOUTHBOUND AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS THE LANE THAT I WAS OCCUPYING WHEN I WAS HIT. THE DRIVER AIRBAG IN THE TRUCK DEPLOYED, BUT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG IN MY CIVIC DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS INJURED BY BROKEN GLASS AND IMPACT OF MY LEFT ARM & SHOULDER AGAINST THE DRIVER DOOR. THE IMPACT FOR WAS SUFFICIENT TO BEND BOTH THE A-PILLAR AND B-PILLAR INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I BELIEVE THAT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG IN MY CIVIC WAS DEFECTIVE. NOTE THAT A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP OFFERED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE, AND WAS TOWED TO A CAR STORAGE YARD AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE.

I FEEL THE BLIND SPOT SIZE IS BEYOND DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE, I HAVE ALMOST HIT PEOPLE NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THEY ARE IN JUST THE RIGHT SPOT TO BE BLOCKED OF VIEW THIS INCLUDES AN ENTIRE VEHICLE!! I FEEL THAT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE BODIES STYLES SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR BY AN SUV. THE REPAIRS WERE WITH GENUINE HONDA PARTS BUT EVER SINCE THEN THE FRONT CONTROLS WHERE THE RADIO IS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HOT. ALMOST TO THE POINT I THINK I BURN MY HANDS TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION. I THINK IT MAY BE HOT ENOUGH TO START A FIRE WITH MELTING THE CONTROLS IN THE BACK. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WAITING FOR THE GREEN LIGHT TO TURN TO THE LEFT. WHEN THE GREEN LIGHT APPEARED, I ACCELERATED AT A SPEED OF 15 WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE I HEARD A BOOM SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS SEEM VERY ABNORMAL TO ME SINCE I HAD BARELY PURCHASE MY CAR 4 MONTHS AGO. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY CAR. AFTER WAITING A FEW HOURS, THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE WERE MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE BOOM SOUND WAS MADE BY THE BREAKAGE OF THE WISHBONE THAT HOLDS THE LOWER ENGINE AND BESIDES THAT IT NEEDED 2 TIRES, ALIGNMENT, CABINFILTER, BRAKE FLUSH, P/S RACK. I HONESTLY DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR TO ME THAT I BOUGHT A 2009 CAR FOR IT TO HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS. WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR THE MAN FROM AUTO PLAZA TOLD ME THAT I WOULDN'T BE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR FOR A LONG TIME AND THEN I FIND OUT ALL OF THIS PARTS WRONG WITH MY CAR. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I WENT TO TALK TO THE MAN FROM AUTO PLAZA AND HE TOLD ME THAT WHEN THEY HAD PURCHASE THE CAR THEY DIDN'T INSPECT IT BEFORE PUTTING IT ON SALE.THIS ACTION SEEMS TO ME VERY IRRESPONSIBLE TO NOT HAVE INSPECTED THE CAR BEFORE PUTTING IT ON SALE. MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC EX, POLISHED METAL METALLIC, HAS PAINT THAT HAS BEEN FADING ON THE ROOF AND TRUNK. THE SPOTS AFFECTED ARE: BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND SUNROOF, ABOVE THE BACK WINDOW, AND THE TOP OF THE TRUNK LID. I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER IN FEBRUARY OF 2009. THE CAR IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD AND NOW HAS 22,800 MILES. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES! *TR

2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. CONSUMER STATES AIR CONDITION FAILURE AND PROBLEM WITH INDICATOR LIGHTS *TGW THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT RODENTS EATING ACORNS HAD DROPPED THE SHELLS INTO THE AIR CONDITIONER INTAKE. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE PARK AND DRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PARK LIGHT WAS STEADY, WHILE THE DRIVE LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF. THE CONSUMER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY DETERMINED A RODENT HAD DAMAGED A CABLE. ALSO, THE TRUNK FAILED TO OPEN ON COMMAND, THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DETAILED WHICH CAUSED THE PROTECTIVE GASKET TO LOSE ITS PROTECTIVE LUBRICANT. THE GASKET WAS LUBRICATED AND THE TRUNK LID NOW OPENS ON COMMAND. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED, THE TIRES WERE WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 06/26/13
