I hit a bumb and my engine started smoking and then airbag triggered on both driver and passenger side
Driving on the highway, smooth road, hit nothing and the entire driver side airbags deployed.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated while her daughter was driving 20 MPH, the driver-side air bag curtain deployed without any impact, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and struck the curb on the passenger side. The inside of the vehicle was damaged due to the deployment of the air bag. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The contact was severely injured and had to seek medical attention. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated that the air bag deploy because she struck the curb. The failure mileage was 142,000.

I purchased a used Honda Civic last summer. This year I started receiving recall notices. I did not respond until the notice told me that they could provide a loaner because I don't have a ride to drop off and pick up the vehicle. I have made at least 4 attempts over the last couple of months to remedy the airbag situation, but the Honda representatives were not willing to set up a loaner vehicle. Then when they finally seemed like it would happen, I was told that I don't have the right insurance and they won't do it for that reason. I know the company needs to fix millions of these air bags and are trying to save money but, I need them to fix mine too. Now they say they can't accommodate my situation. I am asking Honda to please fix my airbag. The attached flyer states that it is dangerous and deadly and that they would do it. Thank you
Airbag deployed unexpectedly while I was driving through a construction zone - I think it was right when I drove onto a metal construction plate. This would have been very bad if a car was right behind me. I do not have the car for inspection, since due to the cost of replacing the airbag system my insurance declared it a total loss and picked it up for salvage although the car was otherwise in great working condition with no other damage. However I have many pictures of my car from all angles that were taken for insurance purposes. No one else inspected the car in person before it was picked up since my insurance wanted to do a virtual inspection. There were zero warnings of the problem before it happened.
2010 HONDA CIVIC LX. CONSUMER STATED THAT FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING COLLISION. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE SPUN THROUGH A GRASS MEDIAN, ACROSS 3 LANES AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL HEAD ON. THE PASSENGER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT DID NOT INFLATE. A POWDERY SUBSTANCE SPEWED FROM THE AIRBAG. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. TWO OF THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS RECEIVED NON LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES.
Dealers will not replace passenger air bag at no cost.
While driving to work on December 20th, all of my curtain air bags and driver side air bags deployed without cause or warning. I brought it in to a Honda dealership to be inspected and I was told I was at fault even though it was an equipment error. There were no lights on my dash indicating the sensors on my 2010 Honda civic were not functioning properly. Thankfully I was not on any highway during the the incident or more serious trouble could have occurred. There was a ringing in my left ear for days after the incident.
The contact owned a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact's wife stated while driving 45-50 mph and suddenly the vehicle hydroplaned, the contact's wife lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree, the vehicle then rolled three times then crashed into a telephone pole where the vehicle came into a stop. The frontal air bags did not deploy but the side air bags did deploy. The contact sustained inquires to her c3 and c4 vertebrae's, bruising to the body that was treated medically at a hospital. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed to a tow yard where the vehicle was determined destroyed. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with, NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V042000 (AIR BAGS) however the VIN was not included. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 250,000.

MY SON WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WHILE AT A STOP. HIS CAR WAS PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS TOTALED.
VEHICLE REAR ENDED, AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND SEATBELTS PROTECTION DEVICE DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS IN IN MOTION UPON IMPACT. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 95 NEAR MILE MARKER 195 IN ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK, NECK, JOINTS, CONCUSSION, BRUISES AND CUTS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE SHOW MARKETPLACE ON CBS DID A SEGMENT ON DEALERSHIP RIPOFFS AND CAME ACROSS THE AIR BAG(S) ISSUE ON A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. (TAKATA) IS THE COMPANY FOR SAID AIRBAGS. SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS MINE.HAS METAL SHARDS NEED TO BE REPLACED WAS NOT RECALLED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WHILE THE RECALL IS OUT. MY FRIEND WAS INJURED AND WENT TO EMERGENCY ROOM, IT COSTED THOUSAND OF DOLLARS.

MY CAR WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL REPAIR AND EVERY SINCE THEN THE SRS LIGHT SEEMS TO COME ON. THE SRS LIGHT FIRST CAME ON WHEN I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SIDE GETTING OUT FROM THE CAR EXITING IT THE CAR THE CAR IS A 2010 WITH 35000 MILES IT'S A ONE OWNER CAR NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT AND REPAIRED ALWAYS AT THE DEALER ALL SERVICE HISTORY. THE ONLY PERSON THAT'S MESS WITH THIS SYSTEM IS THE DEALER WHO'S TRIED TO REPAIR AND GET THE LIGHT OFF SRS LIGHT AND STILL IS NOT FIXED WANTING ME TO PAY ALMOST $1,800
TAKATA RECALL AFTER NUMEROUS MAILINGS FROM HONDA ENCOURAGING ME TO HAVE MY DEFECTIVE AIRBAG REPLACED, I FINALLY CALLED THEIR SERVICE HOTLINE IN MARCH 2019. I EMPHASIZED THE NEED TO OBTAIN A "FREE LOANER VEHICLE" AS BOLDLY ADVERTISED IN THEIR MAILING, AND HOW MY SCHEDULE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE WITHOUT SUCH ACCOMMODATIONS. I WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A RETURN PHONECALL THE NEXT DAY FROM TURNERSVILLE HONDA TO SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT. TWO WEEKS WENT BY WITHOUT A RETURN CALL, SO I CONTACTED TURNERSVILLE HONDA MYSELF TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. AFTER ~15MINUTES ON THE PHONE, THE SERVICE REP INFORMED ME THAT THEY "DO NOT OFFER LOANER VEHICLES" DESPITE WHAT WAS STATED IN THE ADVERTISEMENT. I THEN CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA'S CORPORATE OFFICE TO SEE IF THEY COULD ASSIST IN FULFILLING THEIR PROMISED ACCOMMODATIONS. DESPITE AN ADDITIONAL 3 MONTHS AND A DOZEN PHONECALLS AND PROMISES FOR ASSISTANCE, I AM STILL NO CLOSER TO HAVING THIS DEFECT REPAIRED. MY CASE NUMBER IN THIS MATTER IS 09466794. AS WORKING PARENTS WITH A FULL SCHEDULE, TWO SMALL CHILDREN, AND TWO OLDER PARENTS BATTLING CANCER, WE SIMPLY CANNOT DEAL WITH THESE SORTS OF OBSTACLES IN GETTING A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SAFETY DEFECT REPAIRED. WE EXPECT REASONABLE AND TIMELY ACCOMMODATIONS TO BE MADE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE SO BOLDLY ADVERTISED IN THE RECALL NOTIFICATIONS. I WENT IN TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED DONE FOR AIRBAGS. DAYS LATER MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON I NOTIFIED HONDA AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY FOR AN INSPECTION. THE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE PRIOR TO THEM SUPPOSEDLY FIXING A RECALL NOW MY AIRBAG WILL NOT STAY OFF. THEY CLAIM IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL REPAIR BUT I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. THIS WAS NEVER AN ISSUE BEFORE THEY FOOLED WITH MY CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND I CAN'T ALLOW SOMETHING TO HAPPEN TO THEM DRIVING IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE
HIT A RUT, HOLE, SHALLOW. LIGHTS FOR AIRBAG(NEAR STEERING FRONT) WENT OFF. AIRBAG DID NOT ENGAGE. I WAS DOING A U-TURN, TURNING RIGHT OFF HIGHWAY AND THEN LEFT FOR U-TURN IN FRONT OF A GAS STATION. WHY THE STATION HAD LEFT A HAZARD FOR CUSTOMERS TO RUN IN TO AS I DID, A TURN, I DON'T UNDERSTAND. LOUD NOISE FROM RIGHT FRONT, AND BEFORE COMPLETED MY TURN. SOUND CAME AS I WAS TURNING.

I'VE CONTACTED AND VISITED THE FOLLOWING DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL: BRYAN HONDA 4104 RAEFORD RD. FAYETTEVILLE, NC 28304 EVERY TIME I VISITED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED. THE FIRST TIME, THE EXCUSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK AFTER THEY RECEIVED IT. THE SECOND TIME, THE EXCUSE WAS THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO ORDER THE PART, SO THE PART DIDN'T GET THERE. THE THIRD TIME, THE EXCUSE WAS THAT THEY NEVER GOT THE APPOINTMENT OR THE NOTIFICATION TO ORDER PARTS, AND THEY NEVER PERFORMED THE REPAIR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE LAWS ARE REGARDING RECALL ACTIONS, BUT AREN'T DEALERSHIPS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS SO THAT THE VEHICLES ARE SAFE TO OPERATE? THE ONLY REASON I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CONTINUE TO TRY TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED IS BECAUSE I'M IN THE ARMY AND WAS DEPLOYED TO A COMBAT ZONE, AND COULDN'T GET MY CAR SERVICED. NOW THAT I'M BACK STATE SIDE, I WOULD REALLY LIKE THIS REPAIR TO HAPPEN, BUT THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT COOPERATING. A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THE AIRBAGS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THAT IS WHEN I FOUND OUT THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME WITHOUT THEM. I CALLED THE AUTO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CALL ME BACK BUT AS OF THIS DATE, THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO. I WAS SOLD AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND THE WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-999-1009 AND STATED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD HIGH MILEAGE, THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. A CASE NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. CALLED AND LEFT HIM A MESSAGE ON HIS DIRECT LINE ([XXX]) TO MAKE SURE I HAVE GAVE HIM ALL THE INFORMATION NEEDED THE FOLLOWING DAY. I REACHED OUT TO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER TO ME AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO ORDER THE PART BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT IN STORE AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. I GAVE THEM ALL MY INFORMATION AND I REACHED OUT TO THEM ON JULY 22, 2016 AND IT NOW BEEN OVER A MONTH AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM THEM. THEREFORE I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT. HOWEVER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE WATER LEAK AND THEREFORE ARE NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COMPLETED THE ASSESSMENT AS A COURTESY TO ME.THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 28K MILES; HOWEVER THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A 2010 MODEL IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD. BECAUSE THE WATER LEAK WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPLICATED AT THE SERVICE LOCATION,HONDA MOTORS IS UNWILLING TO GO ANY FURTHER WITH ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. ANY FURTHER VISITS TO THE SERVICE STATION WOULD REQUIRE FOR ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. MY REQUEST FOR HONDA MOTORS TO EXTEND THEIR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY UNTIL THE SOURCE OF THE WATER LEAK IS IDENTIFIED AND THE PROBLEM FIXED WAS DENIED. TURNING LEFT AT A LIGHT, FROM A DEAD STOP, I RAN INTO A CURB ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY. THE FRONT TIRE WENT OVER THE CURB, BUT ONLY THE FRONT TIRE. AFTER COMING BACK IN CONTACT WITH THE ROAD, THE AIRBAGS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND SEAT (2-DOOR COUPE) DEPLOYED. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE SIDE OF THE CAR, I DID NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY OTHER OBJECTS OR VEHICLES, AND I HAVE PREVIOUSLY HIT CURBS WITHOUT THIS ISSUE. THE MANUAL SAYS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD ONLY DEPLOY IN A MODERATE TO SEVERE ACCIDENT AND THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT A CURB QUALIFIES AS SUCH. MY CAR IS NOW UN-DRIVABLE. I BELIEVE THE SENSORS ARE MALFUNCTIONING IN THEIR ABILITY TO PROPERLY DETECT A "MODERATE TO SEVERE" ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS 3- YEARS OLD, WITH ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT. NO ACCIDENTS PRIOR TO THIS. THERE HAVE BEEN THREE (3) FRONT END COLLISIONS ON THIS VEHICLE. 2 WERE DEER RELATED. THE FIRST ACCIDENT WAS A DEER HIT, AT 60 MPH., BODY SHOP SAID BECAUSE THE DEER HIT DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SECOND ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING 69 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. SHE TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET DOWN A DITCH AND BACK UP THE OTHER SIDE, STRIKING AN EMBANKMENT, COMING TO REST 2 FEET FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE VIRGINIA STATE POLICE OFFICER SAID AT THE TIME, HE COULDN'T BELIEVE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS TOTALLY DISENGAGED FROM THE CAR. THE LAST ACCIDENT, JUNE 2013, YOUNGER DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. SHE REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF HER WHO HAD REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF IT. WET ROADS WERE A FACTOR, HOWEVER, THIS WAS AGAIN A FRONT END COLLISION, WITH A SPEED OF 40+ MPH. FIRST NOTICED ON CHRISTMAS DAY GOING AROUND 20MPH, THE LIGHT TURNED ON FOR MAYBE 5 SECONDS, THEN TURNED OFF. LATEST OCCURRENCE WAS LAST WEEKEND, WHILE SITTING AT THE ATM MACHINE. BOTH TIMES I HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE, THEY RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT, AND THERE ARE NO CODES LOGGED TO INDICATE AN ERROR CONDITION, AND OF COURSE, BEING THAT IT IS SO SPORADIC, THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE CONDITION. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING TO ME BECAUSE I HAVE A CHILD THAT I WANT TO BE PROTECTED BY ANY AND ALL NECESSARY AIRBAGS IF IN THE UNFORTUNATE EVENT THAT I/WE ARE IN AN ACCIDENT.
