MY BRAKES WILL BE STUCK (I COULD NOT APPLY THE BRAKE) WHEN I SUDDENLY PRESS DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL HARDLY. I HAD THIS ISSUE WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO HONDA ONCE I DID ONLINE SURVEY. TODAY, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE I COULD NOT APPLY BRAKE. I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME IN THE STREET. THE BRAKE WORKS FINE AFTER THE ACCIDENT IF I PRESS THE PEDAL SLOWLY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY.

TAKATA RECALL I HAD AN AIR BAG RECALL BACK IN 2016. I NOTICED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE CAR IS ALWAYS GIVING ME PROBLEMS. FOR EXAMPLE THE LIGHT INSIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE WORKS WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE WORKING. SECOND THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDOW MOTOR I ALREADY CHANGED IT 3 TIMES AND IT'S STILL GIVING ME TROUBLE. I ALREADY SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY I GAVE UP ON TRYING TO FIX IT. ALSO I ALREADY LOST COUNT ON HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE CHANGED MY BRAKES MINDING THAT I HARDLY DRIVE MY CAR. IN ADDITION MY GAS NEVER LAST EITHER NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF GAS I PUT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY 3,300 MILES. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,435.

THE BREAKS WERE CHANGED IN THE FRONT AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES AND THE CAR NOW HAS 65,000. A DAY AFTER THE BREAKS WERE CHANGED, AT A DEALERSHIP, THEY BEGAN TO SQUEAL VERY LOAD. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK 4 TIMES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NOISE. EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY SANDED THE BREAKS LIGHTLY AND PUT STOP SQUEAK ON. NOT MORE THAN A FEW DAYS AFTER EACH INCIDENT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE BREAKS TEND TO MAKE THIS EAR SPLITTING SOUND ON DECLINE AND AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. HOT OR COLD DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ABOUT 70% OF THE TIME WHEN BREAKING. THE CAR IS USED 50%/50% FOR CITY AND FREEWAY DRIVING. 40% OF WHICH IS TRAFFIC. I JUST WANT THIS PROBLEM TO STOP. AS A PRECAUTION, HAD BRAKES INSPECTED 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. EXPECTING SOME PAD WEAR AT THIS MILEAGE BUT THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. MY VERY TRUSTED MECHANIC SAW NO PROBLEMS WITH THE PADS AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. ON NEXT OIL CHANGE 6 MONTHS LATER, SAME MECHANIC SAYS THAT MY PADS HAVE COMPLETELY WORN OUT AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ROTORS - A $650 REPAIR ON BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. THE MOST TROUBLING THING ABOUT ALL OF THIS IS THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO "CRICKETING" OF THE BRAKE PADS AT ANY TIME! AND NO OTHER TYPICAL BREAK WEAR FUNCTION ISSUES. NOTHING TO INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES AND NO WAY FOR ME TO KNOW, ASIDE FROM A SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE IN THE FUTURE. I CONTACTED HONDA, TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY "HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE" AND THAT THIS WAS THEIR FIRST TIME LOOKING INTO SUCH A POSSIBILITY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC, IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUNCH OF STOP LIGHTS. AFTER PAYING THE DEALER OVER $360 FOR TIRES AND ADJUSTMENTS, I M FINDING THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS RANDOMLY GET VERY HOT AND SMELL HOT, TO THE POINT OTHERS CAN SMELL IT AS WELL. WHILE THE DEALER SAYS THEY WILL INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA REP, THEY SAY THAT THERE ARE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH HONDA CIVIC BRAKES. WHICH SEEMS ODD WHEN THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST HONDA FOR CIVIC BRAKE ISSUES. I AM WRITING THIS NOTE TO YOU SO OTHER HONDA CIVIC OWNERS CAN BE MADE AWARE. I HAVE OWNED 3 CIVICS AND 1 PILOT AND NOT HAD ISSUES UNTIL PURCHASING THIS BRAND NEW 2010 CIVIC EX IN FEBRUARY OF 2010. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN WINTERS, AND ONLY DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. PURCHASED CAR NEW FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP. FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME AT APPROXIMATELY 15000 ALONG WITH A FAULTY CALIPER, THEY WERE REPLACED AGAIN IN APPROXIMATELY 30000 MILES (6 MONTHS LATER). NOW THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS COMPLETELY OFF AT JUST AROUND JUST OVER 34000 MILES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE BRAKE PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR VEHICLE AS WELL AS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OUT OF CALIFORNIA. DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE VERY WELL COULD BE A LINK BETWEEN THE ALIGNMENT PROBLEM AND THE BRAKES. *JS

I LEASED OUR BRAND NEW 2010 HONDA CIVIC ON 05/31/2010. PRIMARILY I USED THE VEHICLE TO COMMUTE FROM/TO WORK. I AM A VERY RESPONSIBLE DRIVER AND TOOK A GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE CHANGING OIL REGULARLY, CHECK LIQUIDS, ETC. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON A SUNNY DRY DAY ON 07/28/2011 IN THE LEFT LANE WITH AVERAGE SPEED 40 MPH, THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME SLOWED DOWN AND I APPLIED BRAKES AND THE BRAKES FAILED (DID NOT WORK). I HEARD A METAL SOUND AND PUSHED A PEDAL STRONGER. I THINK THE VEHICLE PROBABLY DID NOT SLOW AT ALL. I TURNED LEFT TO A SHOULDER IN ATTEMPT TO STOP A VEHICLE AND AVOID A DIRECT COLLISION WITH A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I BELIEVE I COULD GET MUCH WORSE INJURIES IF I HAD NOT DONE THIS TURN. DRIVING IN A SHOULDER I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD AND TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN MY CAR'S TRAJECTORY AND STOP IT IN A SHOULDER, BUT MY CAR FISHTAILED OUT OF CONTROL, CONSISTENTLY DEVIATING TO THE LEFT WHERE CONCRETE HIGHWAY DIVIDER WAS AND DID NOT STOP. VERY LOUD NOISE WAS COMING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ALL THE TIME SINCE I APPLIED BRAKES, WHICH PROVE THAT THE BRAKES FAILED. I CONSTANTLY TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN IT UNTIL MY CAR COLLIDED IN TO THE VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE. A RESULT OF THIS WAS A FOUR CAR ACCIDENT AND EIGHT BODY INJURIES INCLUDING MYSELF. AND THE WORST PART WAS MY INSURANCE COMPANY CONSIDER IT TO BE MY FAULT!!! I CALLED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES ASKING THEM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR BRAKES INSPECTION BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. AND IT MOST LIKELY WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH CAN CAUSE MORE ACCIDENTS/INJURIES IN THE FUTURE. AFTER THE ACCIDENT A CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THEY ADVISED ME TO HIRE A TOW TRUCK $150 ON MY OWN EXPENSE AND BRING A CAR THERE AND HAVE PAID CHECKUP, WHICH CAN BE ANYTHING BETWEEN $500 AND $2,000. MY CAR WAS 18K MILES WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED.
