I did some research it looks like once the light come on the air bags may not deploy if in an accident. It is a sensor problem. Thank goodness she has not been in an accident but this is definitely a concern.

Recently purchased vehicle. When test driving airbag light did not light. Now airbag light goes on intermittently indicating fault in srs airbag protection system. Multiple owners of this vehicle have reported this problem on this make and model on internet.
Airbag system warning appeared in front of the dashboard without any accident or fault. We need the specific concerned government or entity for recall action of Honda company with this for safety purposed before its too late.
The airbag light comes on sporadically - almost all of the time when it's cold, and then on/off when it is warmer. Throws the code B0001-13 - Open or Increased Resistance in Driver's Airbag Inflator. Brought it to the dealership and they told me that I needed to get the whole driver's side airbag replaced (to the tune of $1300 dollars). With the plethora of recalls surrounding 2000s to 2010s Civics, I have a hard time believing this shouldn't be covered under some sort of recall, especially with the amount of other people online who have experienced the same issue.

Amid sliding briefly on ice, the driver side front and rear curtain airbags of my 2013 Honda Civic deployed. No collision or impact occurred to trigger this and, correspondingly, no external damage to the vehicle was sustained. Post-airbag deployment, despite the unexpected bodily impact, sudden jolt, and visual obstruction caused by the airbags, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and maneuver to a nearby parking lot. Upon visual inspection of the vehicle, I confirmed no evidence of collision. The following day, Honda ran full diagnostics on the vehicle. The dealership indicated tests would reveal certain codes triggered w/ airbag deployment (what caused them to deploy). Inspection results, however, revealed no codes found in the proprietary computer, nor other detectable evidence of any cause. I asked whether a defect was possible and was told this could neither be confirmed nor ruled out. Per the dealer's explanation, only the presence of improper codes could reveal this with absolute certainty. In essence, the only explanation I received was that no explanation could be found. Honda denied my request to put these details in writing. I was given only a vague summary of the damage and a list of costs required for repair, totaling to over $10,000 (invoice attached). Geico said damages caused by airbag deployment are not covered by any policy unless a collision is reported. If deployment occurs w/o collision but other valid causal factor(s) are detected by inspection, damages may be covered under collision; However, if no cause is determined and no collision has occurred, damages are not covered. I am now left with a vehicle that is extremely unsafe to drive, over $10,000 worth of damage that neither insurance nor manufacturer will cover, and a left-side rib injury obtained by airbag impact, w/ associated ER costs. Although I obtained only minor physical injuries from this incident, myself and/or others could have been seriously injured or killed.

My "Check Air Bags" light came on last week. It now stays on. I am unsure as to why. I have never had my air bag deploy. Is this due to the mileage on my vehicle, which is at 81,300+ miles?
Airbag warning light comes on sporadically. Consistently when it is cold out, all the time after hitting the horn. There is an issue apparently with the driver side airbag inflator which occurs in this model year vehicle that both NHTSA and Honda is ignoring.
Air bag warning comes on intermittently . Has increased to a weekly occurrence. I’ve recorded 27 instances in the last 6 months that this has happened. Occurs when starting car after sitting and also just comes on when driving. Have had seat sensors and seat belt replaced which did nothing. Problem still exists. I am not going to put any more money into an unsafe vehicle. Research shows that this is a common consumer complaint and a safety problem . Airbags for this model were recalled through the 2012 model year. Certainly appears that the 2013 model year should have been included.

The "Check Airbag System" light intermittently comes on. At first it came on once every couple of weeks, but now it comes on everyday, especially when it is hot outside. I've looked up my issue online and a lot of other people with the same model are having these issues as well. Given that the airbag won't deploy while this light is on, there definitely should be a deeper cause for concern especially since I'm not the only '13 civic owner with this issue.
Took Honda to Toyota service dept.was informed i had a faulty Drivers side cable rail,i would think that would be covered as a safety issue.My Honda has 59000 miles.
This is the second time I report this problem with the airbags. The check airbag light keep coming on and off, sometimes couple of time a day, specially in hot days. All this started about 2 years ago, and reported here and contact the dealer which they want to charged me for a diagnostic. I seen many people also reporting the same issue here, I hope this can address as soon as possible because is a safety hazard.
The "Check Airbag System" warning light has been coming on intermittently for the past several weeks. My safety as well as a passenger's safety is at risk as I've been informed that when this light is on the airbag system is not functionally properly and will not deploy which could result in serious injury or death. I reported this to the dealer today when I got an oil change however they wanted to charge me $138 for a diagnostic check which is unacceptable. Airbags are essential safety systems. This cost should be on the manufacturer not the customer. Since there have been many complaints filed regarding this issue by 2013 Civic owners, it should be investigated by NHTSA for a recall. This is especially warranted considering the millions of recalls on vehicles with Takata airbags including Honda due to defects.
A side impact collision that resulted in the tire snapping off the frame and the airbags did not deploy. Astonished by the craftsmanship of the wheel assembly because of how easily the tire can snap off. The other driver speed at impact was approximately 30+mph. This is not a safe vehicle to be involved in a collision.

Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No other warnings or codes present.
The Check Airbag System light comes on continually. It will shut off when you turn the vehicle off, but typically comes on again after driving a few miles. The dealer, a Honda dealer, confirmed what was happening and told me that if the light is on, the airbag system is disabled and airbags will not deploy, which is obviously a huge safety concern while driving a compact car. Nothing happens before the light comes on (no bumps in the road or anything). We purchased the car used with 101,000 miles on it. The issue occurred with 101,100 miles on it, but may have occurred prior to our purchase of the vehicle.

THEN RECENTLY EXACTLY 3 MONTHS LATER IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN CHECKED IT AGAIN AT HONDA AFTER 4 HOURS THEY FINALLY FOUND OUT WAS WRONG ITS THR DRIVERSIDE AIRBAG INFLATAR. DID A CLAIM BUT WAS REFUSED DUE TO THE FACT APPARENTLY MY 2013 ISN'T UNDER RECALL AND DUE TO THE FACT MY 2013 HAS BEEN ON ROAD FOR A WHOPPING 8 YEARS ITS JUST PLAIN WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE THE CLAIM ADJUSTER COMPARED IT TO CHANGING THE OIL IN MY CAR. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND AIRBAGS AND INFLATORS ARE USUALLY CONSIDERED A LIFETIME GUARENTEE FOR CARS. SO I HAD TO SHED 1400 FOR THE INFLATOR . I'M SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE MY CAR ANYWHERE TILL IT'S FIXED. WHAT BUGS ME IS THE FACT IT'S NOT WITH THE RECALL EVENTHOUGH IT'S THE SAME ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THE SAME STARTERS WERE USED IN BOTH CARS, BUT THE CIVIC WAS NOT RECALLED. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ERROR AND THAT IT COULD BE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY OR CLOCK SPRING. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT INTERMITTENT AIRBAG LIGHT AND HONDA SHOULD BE ADDRESSING THIS IF IT'S A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING NOR COMFORTABLE PAYING $1200 TO REPLACE DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY WHEN IT'S NOT EVEN CLEAR IF THERE'S AN ISSUE. I HAD OUR CIVIC SERVICED AT A HONDA DEALER IN SPOKANE WA A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, AND HAD REQUESTED THEY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I'M IN AZ AND MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULBS AND INSPECT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT DO THE INSPECTION!!! THEIR EXPLANATION WAS THAT ONLINE APPOINTMENT NOTES DON'T APPEAR AT THEIR SHOP... SHEESH. SO IT NEVER WAS LOOKED AT AND HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE IT BACK IN. NO IDEA IF THE AIRBAGS ACTUALLY WORK RIGHT NOW, ISN'T THAT GREAT? I FEEL THE 2013 CIVICS NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA RECALL, BUT THE VIN DOES NOT REFLECT IT BEING INCLUDED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE A 2013 HONDA CIVIC. I BOUGHT IS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED FROM BROADWAY HONDA, GREENVILLE, SC. IT WENT WELL FOR A YEAR THOUGHT THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY WITH ZERO PROBLEMS. BUT ONCE THE WARRANTY WAS OVER PROBLEMS STARTED TO SHOW UP EVERY OTHER MONTH. DURING THE HARSH WINTER OF MARCH ONE DAY THE BATTERY WENT DEAD AT A WALMART PARKING. I CALLED MY FRIEND AND JUMP STARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE. NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE HONDA SERVICE AND DID A DIAGNOSTIC. THEY SAID THE BATTERY IS ONLY 30%. IN 4 YEARS WITH 53K MILES THE BATTERY WENT BAD AND I REPLACED IT. AND DID A OIL CHANGE AND NYS INSPECTION. 15 DAYS WENT WELL. SUDDENLY ONE DAY MY AIR BAG INDICATOR STARTED TO BLINK WITH A MESSAGE "CHECK AIR BAG SYSTEM" ON THE SCREEN. I TOOK IT TO A FRIEND'S GARAGE AND HE SUSPECTED IT WAS A PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR THAT HAS AN ERROR. VERY TROUBLED I WENT TO HONDA SERVICE AGAIN. THEY CHARGED $130 JUST FOR SCANNING AND DIAGNOSTICS. THEY CAME BACK SAID THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR WENT BAD. I ASKED THEM HOW CAN SOMETHING LIKE A SENSOR GO BAD. BELIEVE ME I ONLY USE MY CAR TO GO TO OFFICE AND ERRANDS. MY WIFE SITS AT THE BACK WITH MY BABY(INFANT). VERY RARELY THE SEAT IS USED. I ASKED THEM HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST AND THEY SAID IT WILL COST ANOTHER $880 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. I ALSO WANT HONDA TO KNOW THE PROBLEM AS ONE CAN'T PAY SO MUCH TO REPLACE ONE SENSOR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE CONTACT FELT AS IF THEY MISDIAGNOSED PROVIDING A SOLUTION AND REQUIRED THAT BRAKE REPAIRS BE COMPLETED BEFORE SERVICING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE FIRST REPAIR FROM THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE ABS INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED, BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR. THE DEALER CLEANED THE REAR BRAKES AND ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES DURING THE FIRST REPAIR. DURING THE SECOND REPAIR, THE DEALER REPLACED AND RESURFACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE BRAKE FLUID EXCHANGE WAS SERVICED AS WELL. TWO DAYS AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE SERVICE AIR BAGS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE A THIRD TIME AND INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP, BUT THE CONTACT RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. NO AIRBAG HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AND HONDA IS NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS! WHY?
CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT. DEALERSHIP TECH UNABLE TO POSITIVELY IDENTIFY EXACT PROBLEM OR COMPONENT UNLESS ALARM STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. THEY COULD ONLY PROVIDE BEST EDUCATED GUESS. THEY SUSPECT CABLE REEL IS BAD. APPARENTLY, WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, AIR BAGS APPARENTLY WILL NOT WORK. UNACCEPTABLE. HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED 3 OTHER CIVIC 'S, NEVER HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. HONDA SHOULD HAVE A BETTER WAY TO TROUBLESHOOT THE SYSTEM TO DEFINITIVELY IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC DEFECTIVE COMPONENT IN THE SYSTEM. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON CONSTANTLY YESTERDAY AFTER APPROX. A MONTH, BUT RESIDENCE IS 400 MILES FROM PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT SO IT WILL BE A COUPLE DAYS TO GET VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP TO EFFECT REPAIRS. IF THE GOVERNMENT IS REQUIRING THESE SYSTEMS FOR SAFETY, THEN AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THEY SHOULD NEVER FAIL. PERIOD. ANY DEFECT OR PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER AT ZERO EXPENSE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. I DEFINITELY DO NOT FEEL AS SAFE IN THE VEHICLE AT THE MOMENT, AND HOPE I DON'T GET INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS SYSTEM NOT WORKING. JUST WANTED TO INFORM IN CASE OTHERS MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE.

THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT WAS STRONG ENOUGH THAT THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SEAT BELTS NEED TO REPLACED.
