I am reporting confirmed odometer fraud involving a 2016 Honda Civic. CarMax documented the vehicle as “ROLLBACK / NOT ACTUAL MILES / TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN.” Experian verified a mileage discrepancy. A prior Michigan title contains inconsistent mileage. Selling dealer: Car Tec Enterprise Leasing & Sales LLC, Deer Park, NY. I am requesting investigation under the Federal Odometer Act.

Component that failed: The air conditioning system evaporator core failed, causing refrigerant leakage. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by a Honda dealership, which confirmed the failure and provided a written quote for replacement. The component is still installed and available for inspection. Safety risk: When the evaporator leaks, the A/C system loses refrigerant and stops cooling. This prevents the defrost/defog system from working properly, which can lead to poor visibility through the windshield in humid or rainy weather. In hot conditions, lack of cooling can also cause driver fatigue and heat stress, creating a safety risk for occupants. Confirmation of problem: Yes, the problem was confirmed by a Honda dealership after the condenser was already replaced under Honda’s extended warranty. Inspection by manufacturer/others: Yes, the vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership. Honda corporate was contacted but declined to cover the evaporator, even though the condenser was covered under warranty due to a known defect in the A/C system. Warning lamps or symptoms: There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages. The only symptom was a loss of A/C cooling. After recharging the system, the A/C worked temporarily but will lose effectiveness again as refrigerant continues to leak. Summary: This is a premature failure of a critical climate control component that is widespread among 2016–2018 Honda Civics. Honda already extended warranty coverage for defective condensers in these models, but evaporator failures are also common and part of the same defective A/C system. The high cost of repair (quoted over $2,000) combined with the safety risks of poor windshield defogging and cabin overheating warrant NHTSA investigation and corrective action.

2016 Honda civic has 28 000 miles and the air conditioning went out. took it to Honda dealership, compressor, and evaporator and gasket is not working. everything but the evaporator is covered. Been driving in hot weather and unable to maintain comfortable temperature. Unsafe during hot weather to be driving in a car that has no air conditioning, may lead to heat related illness such as heat stoke in long drives. this is a well documented issue with these Hondas. Has been inspected by Honda dealership. unknown.

This report is on the paint defect issue on the 10th generation Honda Civic that can potentially impact the vehicle's structural integrity from the windshield damage. The white paint on my vehicle started peeling around the perimeter of the rear window with the rain groove. I am uncertain of the exact time it started, but the paint defect became noticeable to the naked eye just past the 5 years of ownership. The size of the paint chip has now extended to the rear body of the vehicle. A section of bare steel body around the rear window is exposed to the elements. Based on the inspection and evaluation by the authorized Honda paint and body shop that was recommended by the dealership, I have been informed that the cause is commonly due to improper paint priming during the manufacturing process. According to the paint and body shop owner, such paint peeling is a widely known issue with certain color paint for many auto manufacturers that use the same paint primer. I was warned that paint peeling will likely worsen with the water being captured underneath the paint. I am reporting this incident as a safety concern because the rust on the bare metal chassis of the vehicle can cause corrosion under the windshield adhesive over time and lead to the window breaking. The windshield is critical to the vehicle's structural rigidity as it contributes to both the roof support and the airbag deployment. The Honda dealership service manager submitted goodwill on my vehicle past warranty for a paint defect from the manufacturing process, but American Honda Motor Company has denied the claim as they determined it as cosmetic damage only. There are multiple reports online on paint defects from other Honda Civic owners from various places. There was a lawsuit settlement on older generation Honda Civic vehicles, but it looks like the known issue is still present on the newer generation. Based on the location of the paint defect, it can become a safety concern.

Component: Car AC System The Car AC system of the 10th generation Honda Civics is extremely faulty. My car is a 2016 Honda Civic with 75,000 miles and I have already had 3 "Extended Warranty" repairs on it. One at the condenser system and 2 at the compressor. This were covered under the "Extended Warranty". Now the evaporator is giving out and it is not cover under "Extended Warranty" and consumers are expected to pay for a faulty designed AC repair that just keeps breaking. In very hot areas in the country this is a major issue as the AC constantly blowing hot air can be nauseating and distracting especially with outside temperatures are above the 100 degrees. With the Extended Warranty only lasting 10 years a lot of cars are now going to be considered out of warranty and forced the consumer to pay for the faulty design. I would understand if the warranty repairs would fix the issue and they would never come back. But it seems that they are placing a mere bandaid and kicking the problem down the line until everyone is out of warranty. I've had 3 service to the AC and now I am due for a 4th. The car is not that old to be requiring all these services, and the bandaids place on the service are only lasting 1 to 2 years.

At the start of the summer in 2023, I noticed that my AC was only blowing hot air (during >110 degF Phoenix summer). I took it to a Brakes Plus on 4/7/2023 and had an evac and recharge service performed along with a leak test. The test detected a leak from the condenser, and I had the Brakes Plus shop replace that part. At the start of the summer of 2024 I was back at Brakes Plus with the same issue, my AC had gradually reverted to blowing only hot air. At that time, I did another evac and recharge service along with a leak test that was not able to detect any issues. Most recently, on 2/28/2025, I took my car to Brakes Plus again due to the same issue with my car AC only blowing hot air. This time, the technicians performed a leak test and saw signs of a leak near the compressor shaft in the form of dye found splattered around that area. So, that prompted us to find the warranty extension for the AC compressor shaft seal. So, I figured this time I would stop and take it to the Bell Honda Service Center to confirm that finding. I then set up an appointment with the Bell Honda Service Center in Phoenix on 3/1/2025. I was told that the only way to check for any leaks in my system would of course be to do an evac and recharge of the system and add some of the dye needed to detect any leak. That cost me ~$320. The diagnosis from the Bell Honda Service Center did NOT find any signs of leakage near the compressor shaft seal and I was not allowed the same courtesy of showing me that in person (or even via a picture) as I had been offered at Brakes Plus. Instead, the diagnosis suggested that my new issue was excessive build up of freon in the evaporator, resulting in a leak, which I was also not visually demonstrated. I asked if there was any warranty eligibility for the evaporator and was able to confirm at the dealership that there was no warranty extension or recall for the evaporator at the moment. However, I did hear of numerous reports of similar evaporator issues.

Feb 16, 2025

In 2019, Honda extended the warranty on two components of the A/C systems in 2016-2018 Civics: the condenser and the compressor shaft seal. However, it did not extend the warranty on the evaporator. I took my Civic to the dealer to diagnose an A/C issue where the system stopped putting out cold air after approximately 45 mins of driving. The dealer found leaks in the condenser, compressor shaft seal, and evaporator. Dealer received approval to replace the first two parts under warranty. However, Honda would not cover the evaporator. The dealer told me I would need to replace the evaporator, at a cost of nearly $2500, in order to recharge the A/C. Simple internet research confirms this is a common problem. Honda should be including the evaporator in its extended warranty because it seems to fail at the same rate as the other parts and because it is effectively impossible to replace the two covered parts without replacing the evaporator--which is by far the most expensive of the 3 parts to replace.

Complaint Description for NHTSA Vehicle Information: • Year: 2016 • Make: Honda • Model: Civic • VIN: [XXX] : 90,484 Description of the Issue: I am experiencing a complete AC failure in my 2016 Honda Civic due to an evaporator leak, which has resulted in an unreasonable $4,000 repair cost quoted by my local Honda dealership. This is a well-documented and widespread issue among 2016-2020 Honda Civic owners, where the AC system components, including the compressor, condenser, and evaporator, fail prematurely. Honda has already acknowledged defects in the AC condenser and extended the warranty for that part. However, they have not extended the warranty for the evaporator, which is also failing at an alarmingly high rate. Safety Concerns: • Visibility Issues: Without a working AC system, the defrost function does not operate properly, causing windshield fogging, which can obstruct visibility and create a safety hazard while driving. • Extreme Heat Risk: In hot climates, the lack of AC can lead to dangerous cabin temperatures, which is a health and safety risk, especially for passengers with medical conditions or young children. Honda’s Response & Requested Action: • I contacted Honda Customer Service to request goodwill assistance, but they have not yet agreed to cover the repair cost. • Many Honda Civic owners have filed similar complaints about evaporator failures, yet Honda has failed to take action. • Given the widespread nature of this issue, Honda should extend the warranty for the evaporator, just as they did for the AC condenser. I am filing this complaint to formally urge NHTSA to investigate this issue and hold Honda accountable for what appears to be a defective AC system across multiple model years. Thank you for your time and consideration. The A/C unit is continuously giving out. The condenser and compression shaft have been replaced twice and have now damaged the evaporator causing it to leak. Due to the A/C system blowing hot air, driving in the high degree weather has became a risk to myself and passengers. Dealership has checked if the parts affected were under warranty to resolve issue, however, Honda does not cover evaporator leak problem even though multiple owners have complained about issue. The repair quote is costing owners more than $2k out of pocket that they may have to replace again in a short time. Causing financial burden from the brand's negligence. Issue will first blow hot air on the driver side and the passenger side will soon follow suit.

My AC gave me problems 2years ago, after a couple times at dealer finally, needs to replace Compresor and condenser and hoses. Honda put me in waiting list for the replacement of the parts. (covered under 10 years extended warranty) finally got call to repair the car. Now my AC again stop working only hot air. Took the car to Honda, now the evaporator is leaking. They want $ 2,450 to replace.

The evaporator core is leaking, which is causing reduced visibablility out of the windows due to condensation on the windows, mold-like smells from moisture from the interior cabin (it is available upon request). I took it into the dealer - they examined the issue (the shaft seal had just been replaced in April of this year) and let me know that this time the evaporator core was leaking. For context and why I bring it to the attention of the NHTSA is in early to mid-August of this year my AC not only took an extended time to get cool, it only got cooler, and not cold. Unfortunately, I am now well acclimated to the signs of a faltering air conditioning system after dealing with three like episodes on the same vehicle, occurring within 2 to 3 years of each other (the car isn’t even nine years old). In fact, this vehicle’s air conditioning has been in a rhythmic pattern of failing ever since I purchased the vehicle. Over 8 years there have only been a few summers which haven’t been negatively impacted by this inconvenience. Honda is aware of the issue, because they have offered "good-will" subsidies which sometimes cover partial replacements of these components. But, they have yet to take responsibility for anything outside of the condenser. Hence, the consumer is on the hook to pay for a vital piece of the car (not just the convenience) that removes moisture out of the car.

For a while now (months), we have noticed our 2016 Honda Civic has had a "sticky" (a click or jerk) feeling when handling the steering wheel, particularly while driving on the freeway, holding long turns, or when even reversing (from an angle) into a parking stall (for the parking, a click/pop is audibly heard). Basically, the steering wheel will suddenly shift/jerk slightly left/right, which causes you to no longer be steering in the exact line you were on. Driver has to then correct by making an opposing shift in the opposite direction to return to the exact line that was being driven. It is a bit of a nuisance, and produces anxiety on the driver's part, leaving one wondering if/when the shift/jerk will cause even larger of an issue, potentially posing risk of harm to the vehicle's and neighboring vehicles' riders via a collision. Our Honda service technician recently confirmed, after our recent big maintenance service, that this issue is present and has something to do with some steering mechanism (I don't recall the correct term of the equipment/device), and that an estimated repair cost would be $3,000-$4,000. For now, we have been advised to monitor, and that basically it is up to us to decide if/when we would like to spend $3,000-$4,000 to have this repaired at our own expense. We are not aware of how this issue arose (what the exact cause is), but is potentially due manufacturing. There are no dashboard warning lights that illuminate during the shifting/jerking of the steering. We just feel it, moreso if you are the one driving. This issue is experienced daily. Our primary concern is prevention of a collision. We do not want it to get to the point of having had a collision/emergency, then reactively reporting the issue to NHTSA. And we do not have funds to purchase a new vehicle. Can we possibly have more confidence in this vehicle being able to transport our family safely without fear of steering issues? Thank you for your support.

Alarm sounded, went outside with fob to shut off . Still alarm on . Tried to get in car with fob . Had to use key in door to get in . Stepped on brake and pushed start/stop button . Alarm now silent. Push start/stop button to shut off engine and message on dash read Keyless Start System Error. Engine still running. Pushed button again and AC shuts off , engine still running and dash still reading error. Put in driver, then reverse to park and pushed button again and engine shut off finally. Disconnect negative from battery and let sit overnight. Tried to start, but just kept cranking. Disconnect battery again, tried starting again and it started. This time it took me 10 minutes before I could shut off engine. Disconnect battery again and haven’t tried again. I’ve read about other people having the same issues. Most say start/stop switch. Mine is on order, will install asap and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

The air conditioner does not blow cold air. The heating and fan work just fine, but no cool air. I was told by Honda that if it’s not because of the recall, that I would have to pay, and that just wasn’t feasible at the time.

AC on these models is a complete failure. It is well know that 2016 Honda Civics have had issues with the AC system and the source of the malfunction lies in the refrigerant, specifically the R-1234f, which appears to be incompatible with the AC system components. As a result, leaks have developed, contaminating other vital AC components and causing unnecessary strain on the system. Refrigerant leaks have a cascading effect, leading to cross-contamination of other AC components and increased strain on the entire system. The fact that the condenser, air compressor, and evaporator have to be replaced due to the refrigerant leak is a clear indication of the severity of the problem. Other main problem is that whenever you take these vehicles into Honda dealerships with or without warranty they clearly do not go through all the issues. They find the first issue, they patch and send you on your way. You can feel they are have been trained to be money hungry and upsell wherever possible

My 2016 Honda Civic recently started having a problem with the air conditioner. The air blowing through is not cold and also smells strange. After taking it to an official Honda dealer, they've confirmed it's a problem with the evaporator and it needs to be replaced. An extended warranty exists for the compressor and condenser but not the evaporator. I believe the three are related and the evaporator should also be covered under warranty. This problem affects the air being pushed through the AC unit and could harm the passenger's well being.

My infotainment system has been malfunctioning for roughly 4 year now. I bought my 2016 Honda Civic Touring in 2019 from Hagerstown Kia in Hagerstown Maryland. Several months after I purchased the car, my infotainment randomly does things on its own like back out of navigation apps and return to Home Screen or randomly turn on the blind spot camera. This is a major safety concern for me and other drivers because I have to fool with the infotainment system for several minutes so that I can go back to my navigation screen and know where to go and also be able to control the car’s temperature. This malfunction is very distracting therefore causing potential harm to me or other drivers. I see that there is an ongoing class lawsuit for this exact issue “Constance Chiulli v. American Honda Motor Co. Inc., et al., Case No. [XXX] in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.” Next time this malfunction occurs, I will take a video and I can provide that as proof to validate my case. After numerous statements regarding issues with the A/C units, it appears there’s an additional item that should be added to the list of recall/extended warranty issues for Honda. The evaporator is now an additional item that is an issue amongst numerous consumers. I’ve had an issue with the evaporator and have been charged a hefty amount for labor by the dealership stating this was the issue. I was not allowed to replace my compressor/condenser, which is strange that those work just fine even with a recall, but suddenly an entirely different part was not working that’s not under warranty. I left the dealership extremely frustrated to be sold a car with faulty equipment that is being called out online and Honda does not show any proactive measures.

My 2016 Honda civic has been having air conditioning issues and this should be repaired by the manufacturer. The issue is with Evaporator Core and the condenser. The Honda dealership inspected the car and made the determination; however, he says that there have not been any recalls issued by Honda for the Evaporator Core. We live in Arizona and it is dangerous to drive a car without a working air conditioner. Please help fix this as I am sure there are a lot more other owners who are having similar A/C issues!

Purchased this vehicle new in 2016. The AC system has never worked properly. A few years ago parts were given the extended warranty. I had it fixed at an authorized Honda dealer, it blew cold air for about 2 weeks and then died agin. I had it fixed again, was told parts were defective in the first repair and it worked for 1 summer. Now this summer it is not blowing cold air once again and again I got another warranty extension in the mail. This time at Honda it’s a different part in the AC and of course it isn’t covered. So for a quick $3000 it can be fixed. This is my 9th Honda/Acura vehicle and I have never had such a unreliable car. Very disappointed with the “new” Honda.

The inside of the car smells like coolant and the air is making the front dashboard foggy. One area of the Central ac is blowing cooler than the other.

Jul 17, 2023

2016 Honda Civic AC system is not working and has not been working for awhile. There are 2 warranty extensions issued for this vehicle's AC system, one for the condenser and one for the compressor. Honda has diagnosed the problem as being the evaporator, which I have been quoted everywhere from $1800 - $3000 to have fixed. The general consensus from mechanics that have dealt with these models (I have seen many different mechanics, 3rd party and dealership), is that the entire AC system is riddled with manufacturing defects, the condenser and compressor issues likely caused the evaporator malfunction, and will likely have to be recalled at some point. That is obviously slowly happening with the existing warranty extensions, however I am still being forced to pay nearly $2k for working AC despite public knowledge of a manufacturing error dealing with these AC systems. Honda refuses to acknowledge the evaporator issue was caused by the other failing components by not extending the warranty to the whole AC system. When I refused service for the evaporator since it was not covered, I was told the compressor shaft seal leak that IS covered under the warranty extension could not be fixed either. The reasoning was that the compressor could not be fixed alone without fixing the evaporator due to "safety concerns". Essentially admitting that the whole system fails if one of those 3 parts is faulty. So even though that is the case, I still have to pay out of pocket for the manufacturers mistake. Unbelievable and clearly an extremely common occurrence as there was an active class action lawsuit for the AC systems of this model (Andre Wong v. American Honda Motor Co. Inc., et al., Case No. 2:19-cv-10537) and Lemon Law documentation of the issue as well. Please hold Honda responsible and force them to issue an all encompassing AC Recall/warranty extension so that myself and many others do not have to choose between a very expensive repair or passing out on the road from the heat

Jul 7, 2023

The air conditioning system is a failure. First my condenser went out and they replaced it with the extended warranty they provided. Now my evaporator is leaking and they do not have an extended warranty on it. Cost to replace is $2,100.00. This is a safety concern in California because of the smog. I could no longer keep my windows up when driving because of the heat and a/c not working.

When a phone is placed in the designated spot on the center console under the radio, it will fly backward upon acceleration. It has caused my phone to fly backward and unstrap my seatbelt while pulling onto a busy highway. I am not the only person this has happened to. This is a design flaw. The area beneath the radio where you are supposed to place your phone is not secure enough to hold an average size phone and poses a serious risk as the center console is taller than the driver's seat. It has undone my seatbelt on more than one occasion. I would likely have been ejected from the car if someone would havce hit me while this this occurred. Please recall these vehicles to fix this design flaw. It is extremely dangerous.

The rearview camera image may not appear. This does not happen constantly, but it will happen from time to time when reversing. Sometimes the problem will not correct itself until the vehicle is restarted. I did not know that a safety recall might be needed until I just saw the recall for the same issue in the Honda Pilots

The A/C hasn't fully worked since car was purchased in 2016. Driver side blows hot air and passenger side cool (not cold) air in summer and in winter/cold months it stays warm on driver side and cool (doesn't get warm enough) on passenger side. Car has been taken to dealership and issue has still not been fixed. No recall by Honda regarding this issue, but lots of forums and complaints online about the same issue. Car was not used for more than 3 months of summer heat last year after being "fixed" and once the hot weather started this year it is back to 100+ degrees inside the car with no A/C cooling the car. Even set to Lo, fan at full speed, parked inside garage for a day, and started in the morning, the air blows hot. Having to drive in a hot car is a heat stroke/exhaustion waiting to happen and a hazard to be on the road.

I have had multiple problems with the vehicles air conditioning system leaking and adding harmful HFC chemicals to the atmosphere and making driving uncomfortable on warm days. There are known issues with Honda years 2016-2018 air conditioning systems and they should be fixing these problems under warranty or recalls. My first issue of the A/C blowing warm air was 8/10/2021 and cars mileage was 49,760 miles. I brought it into a Honda dealer and they stated they found high side and low side O rings leaking . They replaced them, recharged system and charged me $425.00. The next issue with blowing warm air was May 2023 and 56,311 miles. I brought the vehicle to an independent repair garage . They found a leak in the evaporator and a defective expansion valve. They replaced the evaporator core and expansion valve. This cost me another $2008.43. These year 2016-2018, Honda's have many issues with the air conditioning system and all major components compressor, condenser, evaporator and the expensive refrigerant should be covered under warranty for these system leaks in multiple components. I understand Honda has a 10 year warranty extension on the A/C condenser. Honda needs to step up and take responsibility and fix all of the issues with the air conditioning systems and quit adding all these refrigerants to the atmosphere .

Apr 24, 2023

The A/C began to take longer and longer to cool the car. After not driving the car for a year due to illness, I drove it again and the A/C blew nothing but hot air. After an initial Google search I discovered Honda had extended a warranty to 10 years for defective A/C condensers. However, I cannot find a recall for this repair anywhere. I've taken the car to a mechanic and was quoted a price of $1200 repair the condenser.

All engine lights flashed while driving, check engine light remained on after all others went off, emission system warning keeps prompting attention, and car just slowed to only 8 mph as I was driving down the road. Available for inspection any day. I had my 7 month old child in the backseat and almost got slammed in the back while going down the road as my car slowed abruptly as I was driving. Nothing was wrong prior, and I took it to a service department when I went for my oil change, but it was going to be very costly to just hook up for diagnostic testing. Car ran at normal speed after this incident, but engine sounds louder and rougher and check engine light and warnings are still present.

On 4/16/23, I noticed that the paint surrounding my rear window is peeling from the body of the car. There have been no dings nor accidents; the paint just started peeling. Obviously, this is not a safety issue, but I have read that Honda has had issues with defective paint with other models.

Apr 13, 2023

The transmission failed in the middle of a busy boulevard. I was waiting, then attempting to drive forward to make a u-turn. The speed limit was 55 mph, cars were honking and had to change lanes not to hit me - and it was raining. The car was towed to our local dealer where we purchased and seek all maintenance on the car (and 3 previous Hondas). We were told a belt may have broken and that it had to be replaced; the cost $6400. There were no warning lamps or messages. Probably not relevant but the dealer could not replace the transmission as none are available currently and there is no available estimation of when one would come available. We had to choose between trading the car in without a transmission or (what we chose) have the dealer install a used transmission.

If you put the car back in park and then move it back to reverse, usually the camera will come on. Sometimes, the car has to be restarted for the backup camera to work. I did not know this was something that needed to be reported until I saw that Ford recalled several of their vehicles for this same issue.

EXPLODING SUNROOF: (editing from an email to Honda on June 13, 2022) I have had numerous Hondas (and Civics) over the years and bought a 2016 Honda Civic (with extended warranty (just expired I think). While driving from Oregon to California (for a conference in Asilomar) June 13, 2022 on Hwy 680, I heard a noise and thought someone had hit me - but didn't see any car. I pulled off the freeway and pulled over and examined the car and see that the sunroof had exploded. I stopped at Envision Honda (Milpitas) to ask them about it and see what it would take to repair (they had mentioned they had heard that happening to several others), then proceeded to ValStrough Honda (Seaside) closer to my conference - I asked them to order the part ($541.72 + labor (they didn't have anyone there at the time to quote (the previous dealer thought ~$146). The dealer in Seaside thinks the part should be in on Wed and I hope to have it replaced. I have not had time to see how much of the roof or trunk has been scratched (one of the employees at Envison pointed it out to me) Had I not had the visor closed the glass presumably would have come into the car, and likely causing me to have an accident - this is a HUGE safety issue. The glass did stream behind my car, but luckily did not cause an accident as far as I know. I have started googling the issue and see others such as the person below had a nearly identical experience. I think that Honda should pay for the repairs to my vehicle; as well as put out a warning. I believe that this could easily led to deaths of some drivers in the future. Update: I was charged $541.72 + 245.00= $786.72 for the repair Richard Sniezko 541-954-6793 https://www.wesh.com/article/hundreds-of-sunroofs-spontaneously-exploding/30970599 https://www.consumerreports.org/car-safety/exploding-sunroof-cases-head-to-court/

1st Steering wheel pops on highway 65+mph, I've taken my vehicle to dealership to get diagnosed supposedly couldn't find anything wrong, I've even taken a service rep for a drive to show them what is happening they noticed but service told him not to do anything! Second issue squealing noise coming from wheel bearings I took my car to 2 different shops, Honda and wheel shop both places can't determine where noise is coming from!

Although my car runs fine and the Check Engine Light (or any other warning light) did not illuminate, my car suddenly went into Limp Mode. I was on the I-90 East Freeway out of Seattle, just heading into a tunnel plus a bridge. Everyone was going about 65 (as was I), and suddenly I'm cut down to about 20 mph with no shoulder to turn onto. I'm surprised I didn't cause a huge pile-up - as cars curved toward the tunnel and into relative darkness, they had to suddenly slam on their breaks. I guess it would be one thing if Limp Mode engaged because my engine was about to blow up. But my mechanic found no error codes, nothing wrong. I am reading similar stories all over the Internet and never have I once seen a case in which an engine had a catastrophic problem that justified Limp Mode. Is Honda waiting around for a fatality before they'll issue a recall? They came very close to having one on the day this happened to me, and there have surely been many other near-misses. I'm afraid to drive on the freeway now!

AC Compressor failed resulting in all refrigerant to leaking out of system. By law automotive refrigerant is required to be recycled as to not pollute the environment, Honda replaced the AC condenser because a lawsuit found that holes in the AC condenser tubes resulted in refrigerant leaking from the system and inevitable the failure of the AC system. AC system was inspected and found that the AC compressor had leaked and is defective. From doing some research it turns out that the AC compressor on Hondas is a common issue a lot of Honda owners have, spending thousands to replace the defective part. Also from all these defective compressors so much of the refrigerant ends up leaking and polluting the environment.

The center console under the radio is not equipped to hold anything like a phone or something of similar size. When accelerating, the phone or item will become unsecured and fall. In this particular incident, it caused my phone to slide backwards and undo my seatbelt while driving. A car was about to rear end me as this was happening. This is not the first time this has happened. This could be incredibly dangerous and cause a restrained driver to suddenly become unrestrained and before an accident. The center console is not large enough or secure enough to hold a phone or similar item. This is also where they would place a wireless charging pad so it is intended for your phone to sit in the center console under the radio.

I have been giving the run around on my car ac problem. At first dealer they said it was a part that was on recall from Honda corporate that was on recall that was giving intermittent ac problem. They said it was the condenser. It ended up not fixing my issue. So after a while the AC completely stop working had a mechanic check it out and turned out it was the compressor. Seems online people are having issues on all components of the ac system because it was not designed to handle the new refrigerant they use on this car. It’s to the point there’s a lawsuit please have them recall the entire ac system.

The Condensor on my 2016 Honda Civic Sedan is not working AGAIN. The condenser was replace by recall 2 years ago, I went on a trip to Nebraska last year from Utah, and a rock punctured the system. I go to use my car this spring and the AC doesn't work again. I took it into Ken Garff Riverdale of Utah, and I was just informed the condenser has seized yet again, and they are hoping that none of the motor fragments are in the system. Or the call it the "Black Death" and the whole internal system of the vehicle has to be replaced. I was sold a lemon of a car from Larry H Miller Murray of Utah. I am now close to $15,000 in repairs on this stupid car.

A/C Compressor had to be replaced after 3.5 years of purchased. After 2.5 years, AC is blowing hot air again.

THE A/C was not functioning. It was not blowing cold air. The A/C suction hose was leaking. The A/C suction hose was replaced and refrigerant was added. After the repair, the A/C functioned normally.

I own a 2016 Honda Civic EX, that had the condenser issue. My condenser has failed for the 3rd time in 6 years. I faced the first issue in 2018, but was re-imbursed for the damages in 2021. The second issue was in 2019 and it was covered under the condenser warranty extension The third issue is in 2022 and the American Honda representative told me that I might have to pay out of pocket since the warranty extension was covered only for condensers installed in the factory. In short, I'm having to come to the dealer every 1-2 years for a condensor replacement. If the warranty does not cover my repair, then I'll have to shell out a high sum of money for replacement. This can't be done at a local garage due to a unique refrigerant used in the vehicles. All in all, I'm sick of the repeated repairs with my condensor.

I’ve had this car for about 1 year now. On the 4th month of having the vehicle I got the battery replaced by the dealer for free. Now here we are a year later and my car is having the same issue. When I go to crank it, it stutters as if it doesn’t want to turn on than turns on. I went to autozone and they said battery needs to be changed again. Which makes no sense because never in my life have I had to change a battery 2x in year & it’s practically still a new vehicle. I started to investigate and when I go in my trunk That I barely use. I have a little bucket with things I keep in it. The bucket was filled with water as if it was leaking from the tail light area. So my trunk is soaked. I’ve noticed before a little moisture back there but I thought nothing of it. I wonder if others are having the same issue or they may not have noticed yet. The vehicle getting wet in the inside can become a very big electrical & rust issue. Which is very unsafe, can lead to things like a fire or even mildew which can get you sick breathing in it. I feel this matter should be addressed and investigated immediately! For not only the safety of my self but the other civic drivers !

Air conditioner suddenly not functioning. The dealership confirmed that the AC condenser and evaporator core were leaking and needed to be replaced. The condenser was covered under an extended 10 year warranty issued by Honda because of manufacture defect. However, the evaporator core is not and had to pay out of pocket for it to be repaired. I’ve have done research and have discovered that the evaporator core malfunctions just as mush as the condenser. That is why I feel Honda needs to also establish an extended warranty for that part as well since they are both related. There were no indicators telling me the parts were failing.

While driving on the freeway on 1/6/2022, the sunroof suddenly exploded above my head. It was as if something was dropped from the sky and glass fell down on my head and into the exterior of the car. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and maintain safety but it was absolutely terrifying. This car is brand new to me as of 12/11/21. Nothing was visibly wrong with the sunroof and I wasn’t driving under an underpass, so nothing could have been thrown at me from above. What is left of the tempered glass sunroof is spiderwebbed and continues to fall into the car and it is not drivable until repair.

It is alleged that the compressor on my 2016 Honda Civic has failed and needs to be replaced. The mileage of my vehicle is under 50k. This resulted in the failure of the air conditioning system in my vehicle. It caused unhospitable conditions for the driver and passengers inside the cabin on hot summer days. Other issues due to lack of cabin cooling most likely result. Currently, Honda is only taking partial responsibility for WIDELY OCCURRING air conditioning issues in the 10th generation Civic. They refuse to acknowledge that the breakdown of the air conditioning system may also include the compressor. Research indicates the freon leaks prematurely in 10th generation Civics because the new air conditioning systems can not withstand the internal pressures of the engineered design. My vehicle is currently with my Honda dealership. Visible symptoms occurred suddenly, but non-visible symptoms were likely occurring long before, without my (the owners) knowledge. I regularly bring my car in for appropriate maintenance and inspection. THERE NEEDS TO BE A NATIONAL RECALL.

AIR CONDITIONER: 2019 I purchased a 2016 Honda Civic Touring with 25,000 miles, when we were given the CarFax it did not state the AC had anything wrong with it or from any personel at Honda. Last thing on our minds being this car had low mileage and year was to check the AC. We didn't need the AC much until summer of 2020 we live in California (Bay Area) it was very hot, AC did not work was blowing hot air, before that we just thought the car wasn't heating enough and we did not keep it on to learn it would never cool off. We did take it in and were told we needed to pay for them to check it and see if it was covered under warranty. I then looked on line to find there was a lawsuit against Honda for the same thing. Then the California fires came, we drove the car with the windows down by force and it was hard with the heat and smoke, but had to do it to get to work and daily things, it was ugly we couldn't even take the kids with us. We also have a child that has a condition where the heat effects him too. Paying into a car with a defect that Honda is well aware of is not ok. It's 2021 car has about 36K miles now, it's summer and we're still suffering from the heat, hot leather seats and we are hoping no major fires.

A/C is not working I own a 2016 Civic now for a little over 3 years and over the years I've noticed that the A/C just doesn't work I have R1234yf refrigerant which isn't cheap or easily accessible. Finally after hearing about somebody who almost bought a 2019 civic that did in fact have a recall on some A/C component I tried reaching out to a Honda dealership nearest to my home. When I was told there are in fact recalls for some vehicles but that mine was not defected. I would need to pay $220$ to run the diagnostic on it as well as recharge the system. I just told them to forget about fixing the A/C and went home and after looking everywhere for my specific refrigerant I found it finally and recharged the system with the help of YouTube obviously I follow somebody who is a ASE certified mechanic and knows what there doing so to my knowledge there where no way of messing anything up. I personally found that the system was literally empty as empty can be, some may say dry even. And after recharging my system the A/C had never worked better. The reason I feel the need to finally reach out for sources on fixing things in my civic is because I have a friend who owns a 2020 civic and just last week they received a letter in the mail informing them that there is in fact a recall for there car effecting leaking A/C fluid and that the effected vehicle years are 2016 - 2020. Please if NHTSA can help me please do.

Jul 12, 2021

AC Evaporator failed. The lack of a functioning air conditioner can cause health problems that expose the driver and occupants of a vehicle to risk of injury or death from heat related incidents. Research into 2016-2019 Honda Civics illustrate a systematic failure of the AC system due to manufacturers errors. One of which is only recognized by Honda ,being the AC condensor, due to a class action lawsuit (ref:Honda Service Bulletin 19-091, Aug 09 2019 Warranty extension). The problem was inspected by a Honda dealership.

Jul 7, 2021

2016 Civic air conditioner continues to blow hot air. Problem started in spring of 2018. Honda claimed they fixed in in summer of 2020 but it hasn’t worked at all in 2021. Seems to repeat pattern every spring.

Jul 5, 2021

Air conditioner compressor gasket broke. Had to replace compressor, clutch, coil and add new freon. Cost of repair was $2,346. Based upon internet postings this is a common defect in 2016 civics. Honda should be compelled to provide an extended warranty covering the costs for repairs.

Jun 30, 2021

Honda has installed faulty A/C systems and expect the consumer to pay for repairs on their faulty equipment. A 2016 Honda Civic should not have a bad compressor for a car that is barely used.

Jun 20, 2021

The ac blows hot on drivers side causing the driver to sweat and lose grip of steering wheel. This is a known issue of faulty ac systems in this year of civics.

Jun 18, 2021

AC Problems in this generation of the vehicle are rampant. We recently had the condenser in this vehicle changed under an extended warranty via American Honda less than a year ago because the ac was blowing warm. It worked fine until present day where the AC seems to be blowing warm again. The problem this time is the evaporator. The car only has 52K miles. For this many problems in the AC system to break before the car even hits 100K miles is unheard of. Honda should cover the entire AC system and not only the condenser in its warranty as the entire AC system in the car is poorly made. Honda is well aware of these issues which are rampant for 2015-2019 Honda Civics.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A SMOOTH, STRAIGHT ROAD AT ABOUT 50MPH, I HEARD A LOUD SOUND, SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. WHEN I LOOKED UP, THE GLASS SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED AND HAD A ROUGHLY 7" X 12" HOLE. ONLY ONE OR TWO SMALL PIECES OF GLASS FELL INTO THE CAR. THE REST BLEW UP AND OUT OF THE CAR. THE FABRIC SUNROOF DOOR WAS OPEN (PUSHED BACK INTO THE CAR SO THAT THE SUN WAS COMING IN THROUGH THE SUNROOF), AND THE GLASS SUNROOF WAS CLOSED (CLOSED SO THAT NO WIND WAS COMING INTO THE CAR). THERE WERE NO CARS AHEAD OF OR BEHIND ME THAT MAY HAVE KICKED UP A ROCK. THERE WERE ALSO NO TREES OR ANYTHING ELSE ABOVE ME FROM WHICH SOMETHING MAY HAVE FALLEN. I DID NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING THAT HAS FALLEN INTO THE CAR AFTER COMING THROUGH THE GLASS, AND THE GLASS WAS BULGED UP AND AWAY FROM THE CAR RATHER THAN DOWN AND INTO IT. THE AIR CONDITIONING NO LONGER WORKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOW COOL AIR, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR LIKE THE A/C ISN'T ON. AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL JAN. 2019. AC STOPPED WORKING BY JUNE, 2020. CONDENSER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, BUT WAS ON BACK-ORDER. OVER 5 WEEKS LATER, CONDENSER WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2020, BUT DEALER REPORTED COMPRESSOR WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FOR ABOUT $1,200. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER MORE THAN 30% OF THAT COST, ACCORDING TO BOTH A REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND A HONDA OF AMERICA REPRESENTATIVE. THE COMPRESSOR IS ON BACK-ORDER, INDICATING THAT A HIGH NUMBER OF COMPRESSORS ARE FAILING. ALL THE ABOVE WORK AND DIAGNOSIS WERE PERFORMED BY HONDA DEALER THE AUTOMASTER, SHELBURNE, VT. HAVING NO AC IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN AT LEAST TWO WAYS: IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN A HOT CAR, AND A FOGGED WINDSHIELD OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VISION CAN'T BE CLEARED WITHOUT AC. IT WOULD COST $1794.97 TO FIX IT. ONLY THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD. I CALLED A LOCAL HONDA MECHANIC TO GET HIS OPINION. THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME AC BLOWING COLD. EXACTLY 1 YEAR LATER SAME PROBLEM. AC BLOWING HOT AIR. ITS DISRUPTIVE WHILE DRIVING AND EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. TO THE POINT THAT I CAN NOT STAND IT. I WONT DRIVE IT UNLESS IT I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO AND THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM.

AC SYSTEM NEEDS A NEW CONDENSOR AND COMPRESSOR DUE TO LEAKING....CAR IS NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD...THIS ISSUE IS ONGOING AND HONDA HAS DONE NOTHING....NOT LIVING UP TO REPUTATION...THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST HONDA. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY IN THIS CAR LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND NOTHING WAS DRAINING IT....THIS HAS BEEN A PAIN IN THE BUTT EXPERIENCE....I'M GOING BACK TO TOYOYA. HONDA REFUSES TO DEAL WITH THIS AC ISSUE THAT MANY OF US ARE HAVING WHEN THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF IT.

THIS VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY BEEN DYING AND HAVING ALL OF THE ERROR CODES POP UP WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BY TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS. HOWEVER EVEN WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR STARTS FREAKING OUT AND LOSING POWER. WE HAVE VERIFIED THAT NOTHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND HAVE HAD THE BATTERY TESTED TWICE. THE BATTERY MUST NOT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS MESSING UP SO MUCH THAT WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I'M HOPING BY VISITING THE DEALERSHIPS SO MANY TIMES THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO FILE A LEMON LAW VEHICLE AND RETURN THE VEHICLE THAT WAS ONLY PURCHASED A FEW MONTHS AGO.

AIR CONDITIONING BLOWING WARM AIR - NOT COOLING WHEN IT IS TURNED ON

Mileage: 39,355

Aug 13, 2020

WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON, THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COOL AIR, AND THE DRIVER SIDE BLOWS ROOM TEMPERATURE/WARM AIR. DEALER STATED THIS IS BECAUSE OF A LEAK FROM THE COMPRESSOR DUE TO THE FRONT SEAL FAILING. HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE A/C CONDENSER FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE, BUT THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER IT AND COSTS $1,800 TO REPAIR.

Mileage: 60,000

THE AC DOES NOT WORK. HAS NOT WORKED SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2016.

Aug 12, 2020

THE AIR CONDITION IS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. EVEN IF YOU PUT ON HIGH IT TAKES 30-35 MINUTES TO COOL THE CAR....AND IT IS NOT THAT COLD.

Jul 27, 2020

THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR AT IDLE AND OCCASIONALLY EVEN WHEN DRIVING. THIS MAY POSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN HOTTER CLIMATES IF THERE ARE CHILDREN, ELDERLY PEOPLE, SPECIAL NEEDS PERSONS, OR PETS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED. READING THROUGH THE INTERNET, THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO A FAULTY AC CONDENSER FROM THE FACTORY. HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE CONDENSER ALONE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A FULL RECALL OR WARRANTY ON THE OTHER PARTS/LABOR INVOLVED. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 53K MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME BEING SERVICED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.

Mileage: 52,000

THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC EX. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN DECEMBER 2018. THE AC WORKED FINE IN 2019, BUT HAS NOT WORKED AT ALL IN 2020. IT BLOWS HOT AIR ON THE LEFT SIDE AND BARELY COOLER AIR ON THE RIGHT.

A/C BLOWING WARM AIR ON DRIVER SIDE AND GETTING GRADUALLY COOLER TOWARDS PASSENGER SIDE. REPLACED CONDENSER 13 MONTHS AGO AND PAID OUT OF POCKET AS THIS WAS BEFORE EXTENDED WARRANTY. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP THIS TIME AND THEY CHARGED $80 FOR DIAGNOSIS TO SAY IT NEEDS A NEW HOSE WHICH WOULD COST $875. TOOK IT FOR SECOND OPINION, WAS TOLD THAT HOSE WAS FINE BUT NEEDED NEW VALVE BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FREON EQUIPMENT. WENT TO NEW PLACE THAT HAD RIGHT EQUIPMENT AND THEY ARE SAYING IT'S THE EVAPORATOR AND GOING TO BE $1300. NOW I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG ALL I KNOW IS THE CAR IS 3.5 YEARS OLD AND THE AC SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN.

Jul 10, 2020

I BOUGHT MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC NEW AND EVERY YEAR DURING THE SUMMER I EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE A/C NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS SUMMER SINCE IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC TO SEE IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT WHA THE HONDA DEALERS NEVER COULD WHILE MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S BLOWING HOT AIR. HE QUICKLY UNCOVERED I HAVE A LEAK AND THAT IT'S AN ISSUE WITH THE CONDENSER. HE DID A QUICK CHECK AND INFORMED ME THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THE DEALER WHO EXPLAINED THAT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED IN SAID RECALL. EVEN THOUGH IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR I OWN, HONDA IS REFUSING TO COVER IT. AGAIN, MY A/C HAS BEEN ON ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND I'VE ALWAYS STRUGGLED TO HAVE HONDA FIX IT. THEY DID CHANGE OUT THE COMPRESSOR LAST YEAR WHICH STOPPED MY VENTS FROM SMOKING BUT SURE AS CAN BE, AS IT DOES EVERY YEAR, IT'S BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN.

AC DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR

Jul 7, 2020

IN 2018, I PURCHASED A USED 2016 HONDA CIVIC AND SEVERAL MONTHS LATER WHEN THE HOT WEATHER SET IN, WE DISCOVERED THE AC IS NOT WORKING. TOOK INTO HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THE AC COMPRESSOR WAS LEAKING AND IT WOULD COST $2000. I HAD IT FIXED WHEN I WAS ABLE TO SAVE ENOUGH MONEY. NOW A YEAR AFTER I FIXED IT, MY AC COMPRESSOR AND MY AC CONDENSOR ARE BOTH LEAKING. I PURCHASED A HONDA FOR RELIABILITY BUT ITS BEEN A HORRIBLE AND EXPENSIVE EXPERIENCE. HONDA WILL ONLY REPLACE THE CONDENSOR DUE TO RECALL BUT I CAN'T FIX IT WITHOUT FIXING THE COMPRESSOR AS WELL. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

Jul 6, 2020

I TOOK MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC TO THE DEALER AFTER THE AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING IN JUNE OF 2020 TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR A LEAKING A/C CONDENSER, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PER A LETTER I RECEIVED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE CONDENSER IS LEAKING AND WOULD BE COVERED, BUT ALSO STATED THE COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1583.00. WHEN I ASKED IF A LEAKING CONDENSER COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPRESSOR THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T SURE. I THEN ASKED IF THEY WERE SEEING A NUMBER OF CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR FAILURES AT THE SAME TIME AND THEY SAID YES. THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS WITH SIMULTANEOUS LEAKS IN THEIR CONDENSERS AND COMPRESSORS. I BELIEVE THESE NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AND HONDA SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON BOTH

2016 HONDA CIVIC. PROBLEM WITH AIR CONDITIONING BLOWING HOT AIR BOTH WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 26,000 MILES AND COST $1200 AT THE DEALER. THE A/C WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. I LIVE IN FLORIDA SO THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN OR ELDERLY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE DAY ONE AND RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAIN AND TAKE CARE OF THE VEHICLE. THE MAN AT THE DEALER SAID THE CONDENSER IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR. THE A/C COMPRESSOR FAILED, SHOOTING OUT ICE PARTICLES INTO MY FACE. HONDA ACKNOWLEDGES THE CONDENSER WAS FAULTY FROM THE FACTORY AND REPLACED THAT COMPONENT, BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE FAULTY CONDENSER PROBABLY SHORTENED/CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE LIFE OF THE COMPRESSOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL. IS COST PROHIBITIVE TO REPAIR AND LACK OF AIR CONDITIONING CAUSES HEALTH AND VISIBILITY ISSUES WITH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IN THE WINTER.

I PURCHASED THIS YEAR AFTER MY 3 YEAR LEASE WAS UP. WITHIN MONTHS, THE AC STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR. I FOUND OUT (ONLY BY LOOKING ONLINE) THAT THERE WAS A REPORTED ISSUE WITH THE AC CONDENSOR. I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA, THEY CONFIRMED THAT IF IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE AN ISSUE NOT DUE TO DAMAGE, THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE ASSESSMENT ($150) AND THE REPLACEMENT. I TOOK IT IN, THE HONDA DEALER SAID YES, THE CONDENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT ALSO THE COMPRESSOR AND FRONT SEAL, FOR A TOTAL OF NEAR $2000. I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA BACK, THEY CALLED THE DEALER TO CONFIRM AND SIMPLY INFORMED ME THAT YES, I'D HAVE TO PAY. THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY SEEMS LESS LIKE A WAY OF ACKNOWLEDGING AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, AND MORE AS A PLOY TO GET RECENT BUYERS OFF LEASE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HONDA DEALERS. I'VE SEEN MULTITUDES OF PEOPLE REPORT ONLINE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL OR AT LEAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THE ENTIRE AC SYSTEM.

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN APRIL 2016 AND IN SEPTEMBER 2016 I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE AC BLOWING HOT AIR. HONDA TOLD ME THEY FOUND NOTHING. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA NOVEMBER 2019, THAT THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE CONDENSER. ASSUMING THIS WAS THE PROBLEM I TOOK IT SO THEY CAN TAKE A LOOK AT IT. BECAUSE IT WAS A LEAKY COMPRESSOR AND NOT THE CONDENSER, I HAD TO PAY $150 FOR DIAGNOSTICS. FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ HERE, THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH A LEAKING COMPRESSOR. HOW CONVENIENT FOR HONDA!! THEY ARE NOW PROFITTING FROM THESE DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND IGNORING THAT THEIR AC HAS OTHER PROBLEMS. AND TO TOP IT OFF THEY ARE CHARGING $1600 TO FIX A FAULTY AC.

Jan 25, 2020

OVER 12 DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IT HAS HAD SERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES RANGING FROM LOCKING ITSELF WITH THE KEYLESS FOB INSIDE THE VEHICLE DURING A SNOW STORM, ALL WINDOWS INCLUDING MOON ROOF ROLLING COMPLETELY DOWN DURING A RAINSTORM WHEN PARKED OR IN MOTION. WHEN PARKED, THE ALARM BLARING NON STOP FOR HOURS AND THE BATTERY DYING COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING OR DRAINAGE ON MY PART OF ANY KIND. ALL SYSTEMS ON THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AFTER LOSS OF POWER INCLUDING THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND YOU CAN DIVE IT THAT WAY. IT BRAKES HARD ON ITS OWN ON THE FREEWAY. THERE IS A USB PORT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE RIGHT NEXT TO CUP HOLDER THAT CAN GET WET IF YOU HAVE A DRINK IN THERE. I NOTICE THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE CLOUDY, RAINING, OR SNOWING DURING THE MAJORITY OF THE BIGGER ISSUES.

THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE LIKE A CAR BACKFIRE OR GUNSHOT, AND I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE BLOWN A TIRE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED MY MOONROOF HAD SHATTERED - LUCKILY THE SHIELD HAD BEEN CLOSED. I PURCHASED A 2016 HONDA CIVIC FOR MY SON IN 2016. I RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT AC PROBLEMS THIS YEAR. I CONTACTED MY SON AND ASKED HIM IF HE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE A/C. HE REPORTED THAT IT DOESN'T BLOW VERY MUCH AIR AND THE AIR NEVER GETS COLD. SO I HAD HIM TAKE TO DEALERSHIP. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL FOR A/C AFFECTED ONLY ONE PART OF THE UNIT WHICH THEY COULD FIX UNDER NO COST...BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE AIR COMPRESSOR AND THIS WAS NOT COVERED. THEY QUOTED OVER $2,000 TO REPLACE AIR COMPRESSOR. I FOUND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE AND RESEARCHED TO FIND OUT WHAT CAUSES A HOLE IN THE COMPRESSOR THAT MAKES IT BEYOND REPAIR AND THE ONLY INFORMATION I COULD FIND WERE OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2016 HONDA CIVIC FAULTY AIR COMPRESSORS. AGAIN WHEN I TESTED IT MYSELF, IT WAS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR AND SOMETIMES NOT BLOWING AIR AT ALL. I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IT HAS FAILED TO START. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND SAW THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT GAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON A POSSIBLE REMEDY -- WHICH INCLUDED GOING UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND FINAGLING WITH THE BATTERY, ETC. MY HUSBAND TRIED THIS REMEDY AND ONCE MY CAR STARTED, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT MY BATTERY WAS DEAD; THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. MONTHS LATER, WITH MY NEW BATTERY, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. MY HUSBAND TRIED THE REMEDY AGAIN BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I TOLD HIM THAT THEY SHOULD LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT JUST THE BATTERY. TO ME, IT WAS SOME KIND OF ELECTRICAL GLITCH. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OF THE 'NO-START', THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS BEING LEFT IN A VULNERABLE POSITION WITH A VERY UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM THAT A GOOGLE SEARCH WOULD SHOW THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING WITH MANY HONDA CIVICS AND THAT THIS MUST BE A KNOWN ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE CONTACT ME AND THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I TOLD MYSELF THAT IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, I WOULD DO NOTHING MYSELF. I WOULD GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WELL, OF COURSE, IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AT 9 MONTHS PREGNANT. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT AGAIN HAS NOT STARTED. THE CAR REMAINS IN ACCESSORY MODE AND THE BRAKES AND SHIFT GEAR IS LOCKED. I TRULY THINK I HAVE A LEMON VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS COMPANY IS REFUSING TO LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS ISSUE. TO NOTE, EACH TIME THE CAR HASN'T STARTED, IT HAS BEEN AFTER I'VE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RETURNED TO IT A SHORT TIME LATER, EITHER AT HOME ON THE STREET OR AT WORK IN THE PARKING LOT.

MY AC WILL BE COLD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT HOT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I AM LOOKING TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL SINCE HONDA HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS NOW ACKNOWLEDGED IT COULD BE FAILURE ON THEIR PART. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED WITH ONLY $35,000 MILES, IT WORKED FIND UNTIL IT HIT $38,000 AND THEN IT HAS STARTED TO GET HOT IN THE CAR.

CAR HAS 19800 MILES. THIS MONDAY WILL BE THE 4TH TIME I WILL BE AT DEALER BECAUSE THE A/C IS ONCE AGAIN BLOWING WARM AIR. AFTER THE 3RD TIME I SWITCHED DEALERS. THEY REPLACED THE LINES AND THAT WAS SHORT LIVED. JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENDED I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR $1500. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. EACH TIME IT TAKES 3.5 HRS. TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. CORPORATE SUPPOSEDLY KNOWS OF THE PROBLEMS. NOTHING IS BEING DONE. DO A SEARCH ON GOOGLE ON THIS CAR WITH A/C PROBLEMS AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS

Sep 7, 2019

THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN MY CAR STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE REMAINING COOL ON PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK IT THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CONDENSER HAD A LEAK WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK OR ROCKS. I WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE IS A 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE CONDENSER IT DOESN'T APPLY BECAUSE THE PART DIDN'T FAIL, IT WAS DUE TO ROAD DEBRIS. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE FRONT OF THIS MODEL OF HONDA IS COMPLETELY OPEN UNDER THE BUMPER EASILY ALLOWING SMALL ROCKS AND BUGS TO ENTER AND BE EMBEDDED IN THE CONDENSER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPRESSOR "BLEW UP" BECAUSE IT WAS STILL RUNNING WITH LOW FREON AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED EITHER. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE A LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WHICH SHUTS OFF THE COMPRESSOR WHEN THERE IS LOW FREON TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD THE COST OF REPAIRS WOULD BE $1854. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS NOT RETURNED MY MULTIPLE CALLS TO DISCUSS MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD ALL OF MY SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WHEN THIS STARTED BECOMING AN ISSUE LAST YEAR I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT HONDA WOULD ADDRESS IT AND LET CONSUMERS KNOW WHAT STEPS COULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT THE DAMAGE - IF THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE CONDENSER TO FAIL. AS OTHER COMPLAINTANTS HAVE NOTED THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD IN RAINY WEATHER, I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED THAT PROBLEM AND IT IS AN ISSUE IN HOT WEATHER ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AFFECTED BY HOT WEATHER, THE ELDERLY AND CHILDREN. I CAN PROVIDE THE DEALER ESTIMATE AND PICTURES OF THE CAR'S FRONT AND CONDENSER IF THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

A/C STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR AROUND 40,000 MILES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO REFUSED TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE IN THE SUMMER TO DRIVE A 7 YEAR OLD AND INFANT WITHOUT A/C. I'M CONSIDERING TRADING IT IN FOR SOMETHING OLDER AND WITHOUT THIS NEW A/C SYSTEM.

AC IS NOT BLOWING COLD AIR. MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR SYSTEM IS LEAKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR IS AT AROUND 38000 MILES AND IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN 3 YEARS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND ABSOLUTELY UNBEARABLE DURING THE SUMMER.

MY VEHICLES JUST PAST 3 YEAR PERIOD AND AIR CONDITIONER IS BLOWING HOT AIR. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAY LOW ON FEON AND NEEDED RECHARGE BECAUSE ONLY SEEING 120KG OUT OF 420KG GAS. MUST HAVE LEAK SOMEWHERE.ALL MY PERVIOUS CAR I HAD HAVE NO ISSUE W/ LOST OF FEON. SOMETHING IS GOING ON AND DEALER IS NOT TELLING ME.

Aug 5, 2019

A/C WENT OUT AT 24,000 MILES- THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL BLACK INTERIOR. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD SOMETHING PUNCTURED THE A/C COMPRESSOR, VERY LIKELY A SMALL ROCK BOUNCED UP AND HIT IT. CALLED HONDA AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS AN OUTSIDE OBJECT THAT CAUSED IT, THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN ANYWHERE OTHER THAN ESTABLISHED ROADS. HONDA REP WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND ARGUMENTATIVE. ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR AND WAS TOLD "I AM THE SUPERVISOR, THERE'S NO ONE ELSE YOU CAN SPEAK TO." RESEARCHED VERBATIM WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME BY THE MECHANIC AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. CLEARLY A FAULTY DESIGN/DESIGN FLAW ON HONDA'S PART. COULD BE OVER A GRAND TO FIX. THERE ARE ALSO NUMEROUS VEHICLES BEING TRADED IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME ISSUE, SOME AT 12,000 MILES.

THE AC COMPRESSOR IS NOT WORKING, AND LEAKING FLUIDS WHICH IS BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. PURCHASED VEHICLE AND DEALERSHIP "CHARGED UP" THE COMPRESSOR, 3 DAYS LATER IT WAS NOT WORKING. TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY FILLED IT UP AGAIN, 3 DAYS LATER IT STOPPED WORKING. THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE, BUT THERE IS AN AC COMPRESSOR FAILURE IN THIS MODEL, WHICH I UNFORTUNATELY HAVE.

THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT OF MY 2016 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN FAILED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER HAVING WORKED PROFITABLY AT THE START OF THIS SUMMER SEASON. REPLACING THE FUSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER'S FUNCTION DID NOT YIELD IN A CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. AFTER HAVING TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CONDENSER OF THE CIVIC WAS FAULTY. NEITHER TRAUMA NOR DAMAGE WAS FOUND BY THE SERVICE PERSONNEL. FURTHERMORE, THEY HAD INDICATED THAT THIS IS QUITE A COMMON COMPLAINT OF THIS YEAR'S MODEL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF THIS MANUFACTURING ISSUE.

AC IS FAULTY FROM THE FACTORY. FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2016, THE AC HAS BEEN MAKING HISSING NOISES THAT WERE RPM DEPENDENT. WHEN I TOOK IT IN UNDER WARRANTY, THEY CHARGED THE FREON AND IT WAS BACK TO HOW IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING. BECAUSE IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR, I THOUGHT THE HISSING NOISE WAS NORMAL. BUT IT STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR ANOTHER YEAR AFTER IT WAS FIXED. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS A FAULTY CONDENSOR WAS THE CULPRIT, AND THE REPAIR BILL WOULD BE $1160. IT TURNS OUT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE, WHERE DEALERS CHARGED THE FREON WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM BEFORE WARRANTY, BUT QUICKLY FIND THE CONDENSOR OR COMPRESSOR BROKEN AFTER THE WARRANTY FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS.

TAKARA RECALL I BOUGHT THE CAR MARCH 2016. SUMMERS GET PRETTY HOT IN OHIO SO OF COURSE I HAVE TO USE THE AC. WORKED PERFECTLY THAT YEAR. WELL THE FOLLOWING YEAR WHEN I WENT TO USE IT IT NEVER WORKED AT ALL. BLEW OUT WARM AIR AND NEVER COOLED DOWN. SO WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY SAID " MAYBE YOU HAVE A PIN HOLE IN A LINE, MAYBE COMPRESSOR, LOW FREON OR SOMETHING ELSE." I WAS PRETTY UPSET THAT IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE BUT HOW COULD SOMETHING GO WRONG AFTER ONE SUMMER. I HAVE KIDS AND I'M UNABLE TO TAKE THEM ANYWHERE IN MY CAR BECAUSE IT'S SO HOT. I HAVE A BUDDY WHO HAS THE SAME YEAR AND TYPE VEHICLE AND HE HAS ACTUALLY THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE READ PLENTY OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND WONDER WHY THE AC SYSTEM HASN'T HAD A RECALL YET. TOLD IT COULD COST UP TO $1000.00 TO FIX. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND CANT DO ANYTHING UNTIL A RECALL IS IN PLACE BUT SAID THEY WILL REIMBURSE ME WHEN THERE IS ONE SO HOLD ON TO RECEIPT. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. I REALLY HOPE HONDA LOOKS INTO THIS MATTER. BECAUSE IT IS REALLY UPSETTING THAT THIS HAPPENED ONLY AFTER ONE YEAR OF DRIVING IT.

TOUCH SCREEN PANEL THAT CONTROLS THE ENTIRE SETTINGS OF THE CAR OVER HEATS AND BLOCKS OUT MAKING IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND UPSETTING NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR /C SETTINGS OR YOUR RADIO AND YOUR PHONE. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC TOURING THAT SAME YEAR BACK MULTIPLE TIMES IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER EVERY TIME WE TOOK IT THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. SINCE THEN THE TOUCH SCREEN PANEL HAS SOME WHAT WORKED PROPERLY TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS JUST SLOW IN FUNCTIONING BUT WORKABLE. THIS TIME ON JUNE 27, 2019 IT HAS COMPLETLY DONE THE SAME THING WE WERE FACING IN THE BEGINNING AND THIS IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION, I HAVE TRIED RESETTING IT BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND JOINING CABLES TOGETHER AND IT JUST DIDNT WORK IT CONTINUES TO NOT WORK PROPERLY SINCE DAY OF PURCHASE.I WOULD LIKE FOR SOME ONE TO HELP US RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND TO REPLACE OUR PANEL FOR A GOOD WORKING ONE.

Jun 24, 2019

THE AC KEEPS GOING OUT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE COMPRESSOR REPLACE TWICE AND 2 OTHER PARTS REPLACED TWICE. THE FREON STARTS TO BLOW OUT OF THE VENTS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS I ALWAYS HAVE MY KIDS WITH ME. WE ALWAYS HAVE INFECTIONS THAT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO BREATHINNG IN THIS FREON. EVERY YEAR IT GETS FIXED IN THE SUMMER. IT WORKS FINE FOR OYR 2 SUMMER MONTHS THEN I DONT HAVE TO USE IT THAT OFTEN BUT AS SOON AS THE HEAT ROLLS UP AGAIN I TAKE IT IN FOR A CHECK AND IT HAS NO FREON LEFT.

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONAL (DISCOVERED MAY 2019). BLOWS ONLY HOT AIR. 31-32K MILEAGE ON CAR (ON MAY 2019). PURCHASED CAR NEW IN FEB 2016. HAD NOTICED A DECREASE IN COOLING EFFICIENCY IN SUMMER OF 2018, BUT DIDN'T TAKE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION, SINCE I DON'T USE A/C MUCH. DIDN'T NEED TO USE A/C AGAIN UNTIL MAY 2019. CAR WAS <4 MONTHS OVER 3 YEAR WARRANTY (BUT UNDER 36K MILES), SO DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR COST UNDER WARRANTY. WAS GIVEN REPAIR ESTIMATE OF $1,150, WHICH WAS TO COVER COST OF REPLACING A/C CONDENSER, O-RING IN DISCHARGE LINE, AND NEW REFRIGERANT RE-CHARGE. WHEN DRIVING IN RAINY, HIGH HUMIDITY WEATHER, WINDOWS MORE PRONE TO FOGGING UP BECAUSE THERE'S NO COOL AIR TO BLOW ON INSIDE OF WINDOW TO CLEAR CONDENSATION - BECAUSE A/C SYSTEM IS NON-FUNCTIONING.

A/C STOPPED WORKING AFTER 55,000 MILES AND OWNING FOR 3 YEARS. WHEN DISCUSSED WITH THE DEALER, THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE AIR CONDENSER THAT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. STANDARD LIFETIME FOR AN AIR CONDENSER IS WELL BEYOND THE 3 YEAR TIMEFRAME. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS 2016 HONDA CIVIC'S IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WAS OVER $1,000 WITH MY DEALER AND SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING AT THIS POINT IN THE CAR'S LIFE.

AMERICAN HONDA IS THE MOST FRAUDULENT COMPANY I EVER DEALT WITH. WITHIN THE 1ST YEAR, A SERIOUS PROBLEM DEVELOPED WITH THE TRUNK, WHICH RANDOMLY OPENS FOR NO REASON, SOMETIMES OVERNIGHT, SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. WE TOOK THE CAR 2X TO THE DELRAY BEACH DEALER , & IT CLAIMED ITCOULDN'T IDENTIFY OR REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, & THEN THAT THEY FIXED IT. THEY DID NOTHING & THE PROBLEM NEVER STOPPED. I WASTED 2 DAYS ON THESE VISITS, ACCOMPLISHING NOTHING. LAST MONTH, NOW IN CALIFORNIA, & STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE TRUNK OPENED WHILE I WAS AWAY FOR A WEEK, & I HAD WATER DAMAGE TO > $200 OF ITEMS IN MY TRUNK. I SPOKE WITH LIVETTE AT HONDA, WHO TOLD ME TO GO TO THE BERKELEY DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR ASSESSED. I REVIEWED THE HISTORY OF THE MATTER, & TOLD HER I WANTED TO BE SURE THE DEALER WOULD BE AUTHORIZED TO MAKE REPAIRS. INSTEAD. I WASTED ANOTHER 4+ HOURS AT THE DEALER, WHO SAID IT COULDN'T IDENTIFY & HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON LINE, & WHEN I SHOWED THEM THE COMPLAINTS & HOW DEALERS HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER SAID IT NEEDED APPROVAL FROM HONDA (HONDA SAID IT NEEDED THE DEALER TO APPROVE THE REPAIR, SO IT'S LIKE DEALING WITH THE INSANE). THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD CALL ME AFTER OBTAINING APPROVAL'THEY NEVER DID. LIVETTE WAS THE MOST OFFENSIVE PERSON I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, LIED TO MY FACE, & REFUSED TO AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR & CLOSED THE CASE THOUGH SHE NEVER EVEN SPOKE WITH THE DEALER. THESE CARS HAVE A KNOWN DANGEROUS DEFECT & HONDA HAS DONE NOTHING'THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE NTSB SHOULD TRACK ON-LINE COMPLAINTS & OBTAIN ALL HONDA COMPLAINTS FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS TO DETERMINE ALL MODELS AFFECTED. THE CAR'S UNDERCARRIAGE IS ALSO KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE; IT IS FAR TOO LOW & SCRAPES ON SPEED BUMPS & GETS TORN OFF BY THEM, PARKING BARRIERS, & ANY ROAD INCLINE.

RANDOMLY HEARD A POP, AND THE AC STOPPED WORKING. TOOK CAR TO A DEALERSHIP THAT TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE. AFTER LEAVING HONDA I CALLED BACK TO INQUIRE MORE INFORMATION, HONDA REFUSED TO SHOW ME THE ISSUE BUT TOLD ME THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $200 FOR A DIAGNOSIS FEE. SOMETHING SEEMED WRONG. CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CALLED HONDA CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT FOR A SECOND OPINION ELSEWHERE. THEY KNEW ABOUT THE AC ISSUES AND SAID IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EXCEPT MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE OF HIGH MILEAGE. WITHOUT THE AC THE DEFOGGER DOESN'T WORK. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS. NOT SURE HOW TO GET HONDA TO RECALL THIS BUT IT SEEMS THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF AC UNITS NOT WORKING PROPERLY IN CARS. IF SOMEONE DIES ON THE ROADWAY BECAUSE OF A VISIBILITY ISSUE, HONDA WILL HAVE A MAJOR LAWSUIT AHEAD OF THEM. HELP US HONDA OWNERS GET THE RECALL WE DESERVE SO WE CAN SAFELY DRIVE THE CARS WE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON. THIS IS UNSAFE AND NOT OKAY!

WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 1/26/2019 AT ABOUT 11:30 AM WHEN I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP. I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD BLOWN A TIRE AND TURNED DOWN MY MUSIC. I HEARD A LOT OF WIND AND AFTER VERIFYING THAT ALL OF MY WINDOWS WERE UP I OPENED THE VISOR TO MY SUNROOF TO DISCOVER THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES SURROUNDING ME AND I WAS NOT DRIVING UNDER AN OVER PASS, THEREFORE I WAS NOT HIT BY ANY FLYING DEBRIS. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IT APPEARED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED IN AN OUTWARD FASHION. AS IF SOMEONE HAD BUSTED IT OUT FROM THE INSIDE. THERE WAS ALSO NO GLASS THAT SHATTERED DOWN INTO MY SUNROOF VISOR WHICH FURTHER LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY DEBRIS. AFTER DOING SOME SEARCHING, IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE AND THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF INSTANCES OF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODING SUNROOFS IN CARS MANUFACTURED IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED ON A WEEKEND SO I WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO SEE IF HONDA WILL REPAIR THE ISSUE FREE OF CHARGE (AS THEY SHOULD).

THE AC COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE BOTH LEAKING. ONE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO TELL ME THEY WERE LEAKING BECAUSE A ROCK HIT IT AND CAUSED THE DAMAGE, AND IT COSTS $600 TO FIX. BUT UPON PROPER DIAGNOSIS FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, THEY DID TELL ME BOTH THE COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE LEAKING, AND IT WAS NOT CAUSED BY ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE. THESE PRODUCTS HAVE KNOWN ISSUES THAT PEOPLE HAVE LISTED ONLINE. MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO FILE A CLAIM THROUGH GOOD WILL. THEY SAID THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY 50/50, WHICH LEAVES ME TO PAY $842 BEFORE TAXES TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A BETTER SOLUTION. THIS IS UNSAFE THAT ALL OF THESE CARS HAVING LEAKING CONDENSERS AND COMPRESSORS AND IT IS A SCAM TO HAVE THE CUSTOMER PAY ANYTHING TO FIX AN ISSUE LIKE THIS. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE BECAUSE WHEN IT IS HOT WEATHER OR RAINING AND THEN IT GETS COLD THE WINDSHIELD FOGS UP AND DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO SEE WITHOUT HAVING THE AIR ON. THE AC HELPS TO ELIMINATE ANY VISIBILITY ISSUES WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES. CURRENTLY MY WINDSHIELD KEEPS FOGGING UP DUE TO NOT HAVING THE AC, ESPECIALLY WHEN ANOTHER CAR IS COMING TOWARDS ME WITH THEIR HEADLIGHTS, MY WINDSHIELD BLINDS ME. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE HELP ME BY LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE AND POSSIBLE POSTING A SAFETY RECALL ON THESE PRODUCTS, I WOULD TRULY APPRECIATE IT. I ALREADY SPOKE TO CORPORATE HONDA AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE AND THEY SAY THAT THEY DON'T PUT OUT THEIR OWN RECALLS. BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT IS NOT OKAY, AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO HAVE A FAULTY SYSTEM FIXED, WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THIS WAY. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE AFTER THE CAR WAS ALREADY OUT OF WARRANTY, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON ONE SPECIFIC DAY, IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.

VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END/SIDE COLLISION. WHEN TOLD BY COLLISION SHOP THE VEHICLE WAS FINISHED AND UPON COMING IN TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, OBVIOUS STRUCTURAL DAMAGE REMAINED UNTOUCHED, AND UNREPAIRED ENGINE DAMAGE WAS OBVIOUS. COLLISION SHOP AND INSURANCE COMPANY INSISTED VEHICLE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE AND FOUGHT ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY TAKEN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND A DTC CODE WAS THRON. ADDITIONAL ISSUES WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE POST COLLISION WERE NOTED AND BOTH COLLISION SHOP AND INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE SAFETY ISSUES AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY STANDARDS. NEITHER THE COLLISION SHOP NOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW 2016 CIVIC BODY, DIAGNOSTICS, CRASH ZONES, AND HONDA POSITION STATEMENTS ISSUED FOR THE PARTICULAR MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED FOR A NEWLY LICENSED DRIVER, WITH SAFETY BEING THE TOP PRIORITY. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE AND IT WOULD BE TRAGIC TO HAVE ANOTHER ACCIDENT, WHERE THE OTHER DRIVER IS AT FAULT, WITH A MUCH WORSE OUTCOME BECAUSE THE INTEGRITY OF THIS THIS VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED DUE TO INADEQUATE REPAIR. ISSUES: UNDER SPLASH / GUARD FALLING DOWN - YONKERS HONDA SERVICE PARTS STATE IT IS PHYSICAL DAMAGE FOR THE UNDER SPLASH GUARD TO FALL DOWN AND NOT POSSIBLY THE SCREWS GETTING LOOSE. YONKER SERVICE PARTS SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT I MUST OF WENT OVER SOMETHING THAT PULLED DOWN THE UNDER GUARD. I NOW HAVE 11,900 MILES AND CAR UNDER 2 YEARS OLD. INITIALLY I HAD TO GO TO A LOCAL DEALER TO NOT REPLACE BUT TO PUT SCREWS IN, SO I COULD GO TO MY HONDA SERVICE TO INSPECT WHY THIS HAPPENED ON A NEW CAR. I WAS ONLY CHARGED $71 TO PUT SCREWS IN. ALL PARTS WERE STILL INTACT AFTER SPLASH DROPPED AND I HAD TO DRIVE TO GET MY SERVICE TO A PLACE CLOSER HOME BECAUSE DRAGGING MY UNDER GUARDS WOULD MEAN GREATER DAMAGE. BY THE TIME I MADE IT TO HONDA SERVICE, THE SPLASH DROPPED AGAIN AND HONDA STATED I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE UNDERGUARDS THAT WERE STILL IN TACT BUT A LITTLE BENT FROM DRAGGING. THEY SAID IT WAS EXTERNAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND NOT A DEFECT AND THEN QUOTED ME $400 AND PUT TIES UP SO I CAN DRIVE THE CAR. I LOOKED UP THE PARTS AT A HONDA PARTS SERVICE DEALER AND THE PARTS I AM QUOTED ARE WAY MORE THAN WHAT I NOTICED FOR THE MARKET. FOUR MONTHS INTO HAVING MY CAR, ALL 4 CAR WINDOWS COME HALFWAY DOWN AFTER EXITING THE CAR AND PRESSING DOWN THE LOCK WITH REMOTE. NO INFORMATION ON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE HONDA MANUAL. AT A CERTAIN FREEWAY SPEED 60+ MPH WITH THE COMBINATION OF A PARTICULAR INCLINE OF THE ROADWAY THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SLIGHTLY FISHTAIL WHICH LEADS TO INSTABILITY IN CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THIS FISHTAILING ACTION TAKES PLACE AT THE DOWNWARD TRAVEL ON THE INCLINING ROAD. WE HAVE TESTED THIS PHENOMENON SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHES THAT CERTAIN SPEED AND CERTAIN ROADWAY INCLINE IT HAS DONE THIS FISHTAILING MOTION. IT'S BEEN ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT FREEWAYS WITH THE SAME DEGREE OF INCLINE. WE HAVE OWNED SEVERAL HONDA CIVICS AND ACURAS IN OUR FAMILY AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS DRIVING INSTABILITY IN ANY OF THESE VEHICLES. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED, THINKING THIS MIGHT BE THE ISSUE? NO CHANGE AT ALL. WE MENTIONED TO THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY LOOK AT YOU LIKE YOUR CRAZY AND SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS. SO WE DECIDED TO FILL THIS COMPLAINT IN FEAR OF THE SAFETY FACTOR. WE HAVE 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE THAT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND EVERYONE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FISHTAILING SENSATION. AS YOU INCREASE THE VEHICLES SPEED AND THESE PARTICULAR INCLINES, THE WORSE THE FISHTAILING GETS!!! WE FEEL IT MUST BE SOME KIND OF DESIGN FLAW RELATING TO THE AERODYNAMICS OF THE VEHICLE? OR IT'S NOT WEIGHTED DOWN PROPERLY? WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE A RESPONSE AND PLAN OF ACTION TO SEE WHAT EXACTLY IS CAUSING THIS FISHTAILING ISSUE. LIKE I MENTIONED NEVER HAVE WE FELT THIS IN ANY OTHER OF OUR HONDA CIVICS OR ACURAS DRIVING THAT EXACT FREEWAY AT THOSE SPEEDS. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG AND IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR OUR FAMILY AND OTHER OWNERS THAT MIGHT BE EXPERIENCE THIS SAME DRIVING INSTABILITY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER.

AFTER PARKING AND LOCKING MY VEHICLE, WHEN I LATER RETURNED TO MY CAR ALL FOUR WINDOWS WERE OPEN APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THE WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. IN ONE INSTANCE, THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED PRIOR TO A RAINSTORM AND AFTER THE RAIN HAD ENDED, I WENT OUT TO THE CAR TO GO ON AN ERRAND AND AGAIN ALL FOUR WINDOWS WERE 3/4 OF THE WAY OPEN.

SIR/MA'AM, I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS SOMEWHAT SAFETY PROBLEM THAT MANY CIVIC HAVE. HONDA CIVIC HAS A CENTER TOUCH SCREEN THAT CONTROLS RADIO, TEMPERATURE AND IMPORTANTLY SHOWS REAR VIEW CAMERA AND RIGHT SIDE CAMERA. TODAY THE CENTER SCREEN DIDN'T EVEN TURN ON AND WASN'T ABLE TO SEE AN OBJECT REAR AND UNDERNEATH OF MY CAR DUE TO THE SCREEN NOT TURNED ON. IT IS KNOWN ISSUE FOR CIVIC COMMUNITY. I WISH THAT NHTSA TAKE A LOOK INTO THIS ISSUES.

I PRESSED MY AUTOMATIC START KEY FROM THE WINDOW OF THE BUILDING , WHILE I WAS GETTING READY ,(WASHING MY FACE, BRUSHING TEETH) AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS LATER I HEARD THE SOUND OF THE ALARM , WHICH WOULD USUALLY TURN ON IF THERE IS A HIT OR IMPACT OR LOUD SOUND . WHEN I CAME DOWNSTAIRS, ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES LATER . I NOTICED THE FRONT WINDOW WAS SHATTERED , I FIGURED MAYBE ONE THE NEIGHBORS WAS PLAYING BALL AND HIT MY WINDOW, WHEN I OPENED MY DOOR I REALIZED THERE WAS A FIRE INSIDE COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE DASHBOARD, EVERYTHING WAS MELTED AND MY DASHBOARD WAS ALSO SUNK IN. I CHECKED IF THERE WAS AN OUTLET CONNECTED OR USB PORTS AND DID NOT FIND AN ANSWER. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP AND ONLY ADVICE THAT WAS GIVEN WAS TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE , THEY ALSO ADDED THEY WOULD NOT BE TAKING CARE OF ANY DAMAGES IN THE VEHICLE AND THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND ALSO DID NOT KNOW WHY, NOR WERE EVEN INTERESTED IN INVESTIGATING. THE CAR WAS IN COMPLETE PARK MODE, AND OFF OVERNIGHT. NO ONE DESERVES TO TAKE THEIR SIBLINGS TO SCHOOL AND INSTEAD BE WELCOMED BY A MALFUNCTIONING DEFECTIVE 2016 YEAR VEHICLE.

TRUNK SPONTANEOUSLY OPENS. IT HASN'T HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, CONTACTED HONDA'S HEADQUARTERS. THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE SO CANNOT FIX IT. THERE ARE OTHERS ON THE CIVIC ONLINE FORUM WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A SECURITY ISSUE WHERE I CANNOT KEEP ANYTHING IN MY TRUNK. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. ONE NIGHT AFTER I GOT HOME, I WENT BACK OUT TO MY CAR AND THE TRUNK WAS OPENED. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I GO OUT TO MY CAR IN THE MORNING OR AFTER WORK AND MY TRUNK IS OPEN. I KEEP THE KEYS AS FAR AWAY FROM THE CAR AS I CAN, I HANG THEM UP, BUT THEM IN THE BEDROOM AND IT DOES NOT GOOD--SO IT IS NOT THE SENSITIVITY OF THE KEY. I ALSO NOTICED MY GAS TANK HATCH OPENS AFTER I FILL THE TANK. SEE THE ATTACHED CORRESPONDENCE TO HONDA DATED TODAY.

IT HAPPEN TO MY SON'S GIRLFRIEND'S 2017 HONDA CIVIC AS WELL. WE BOTH JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE AS WELL. BRAND NEW HONDA CIVIC SEDAN TOURING HAS HAD NAVIGATION SYSTEM/GPS PROBLEMS FROM DAY TWO: - DOES NOT ACQUIRE SATELLITE DATA / DOES NOT CONNECT TO SATELLITE - NAVIGATION SYSTEM SHOWING THE CAR LOCATION COMPLETELY WRONG, SOMETIMES BY A MILE - NAVIGATION SYSTEM REBOOTING ITSELF WHILE DRIVING - CAR SYMBOL IS WIGGLING ALL OVER THE MAP WHILE DRIVING THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME CAR IS DRIVEN, ON A TWO-LANE STREET OR ON A HIGHWAY, DAY OR NIGHT. MORE THAN 10 INSTANCES CAUGHT ON VIDEO AND PICTURES. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN IT ENDANGERED CAR PASSENGERS' SAFETY BY SHOWING WRONG INFORMATION AND GIVING WRONG DIRECTIONS IN UNFAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS WHERE GPS/NAVIGATION SYSTEM WERE NEEDED. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE SELLING DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR REPAIR: FIRST TIME A NAVIGATION SOFTWARE "RESET" WAS PERFORMED, SECOND TIME WAS KEPT FOR 9 DAYS AND THE HMI HEAD WAS REPLACED, THIRD TIME WAS KEPT FOR 6 DAYS AND THE ANTENNA WAS REPLACED. IT CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. AFTER MORE THAN 21 DAYS OF DRAGGING THEIR FEET THE SELLING DEALERSHIP HAS AGREED TO LOOK AT THE CAR AGAIN, MONDAY JAN. 16TH. DRIVING THE CAR HOME AT 7 PM AND HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE LIKE A GUNSHOT. NO OTHER VEHICLES IN SITE AND ON A ROAD WHERE THERE ARE NO HOMES JUST OPEN FIELDS. PULLED OVER TO FIND THE SUNROOF HAD A HUGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT AND THE REST OF THE GLASS THAT WAS STILL TACT WAS IN TINY PIECES LIKE AND LOOKED LIKE A SPIDER WEB. THE GLASS WAS PROTRUDING UPWARD LIKE IT HAD PRESSURE FROM THE INSIDE. HAD THE THE VISOR FOR THE SUNROOF BEEN OPEN IN THE CAR WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN THIS GLASS WOULD HAVE FALLEN DIRECTLY INTO OUR EYES POSSIBLY CAUSING VISION PROBLEMS. I CALLED HONDA CARE AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY SAID BY THE TIME THE CAR GOT TO THE DEALER SHIP TO BE REPAIRED IT HAD VERY LITTLE GLASS LEFT IN IT. THIS CAR HAS UNDER 2500 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE NOT EVEN PAID THE FIRST NOTE.

PURCHASED A NEW 2016 CIVIC TOURING IN MAY 2016. WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS I WAS HAVING SMALL ELECTRICAL ISSUES SUCH AS SCREENS GOING BLACK, REBOOTING, AND STEREO NOT WORKING. I WOULD GET A FAILURE WARNING ON THE DASH ONCE IN AWHILE (DIFFERENT EACH TIME). CAR FAILED TO START ON JULY 26TH 2016. ALL SCREENS WERE FLASHING ERROR MESSAGES. CAR WOULD NOT START. I CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED. DEALER CLAIMED THEY HAVE NEVER SEEM THIS PROBLEM. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WOULD CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME SMALL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR EVERY SO OFTEN. UNTIL, THE CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP BY ITSELF AND COMPUTER TOOK 100% CONTROL OF THE CAR. I COULDN'T STEER, ACCELERATE, OR CONTROL THE CAR AT ALL. I NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED IN AN INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NOT A CAR DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. AFTER THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP I REGAINED CONTROL AGAIN AND THE CAR OPERATED NORMAL. SOON AFTER, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR I RECEIVED THE ALL THE ERROR CODES AGAIN AND IT THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I AGAIN CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD IT TOWED. DEALER CANNOT TELL ME WHY THE CAR SELF BRAKED AND CANNOT REPLICATE IT. I HAVE AN OPEN CASE# WITH HONDA OF AMERICA. I HAVE TOLD BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA OF AMERICA THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER ARE BOTH SCARED FOR THEIR SAFETY TO DRIVE IT. NO ONE FROM MY FAMILY INCLUDING MYSELF WILL BE DRIVING THE CAR EVER AGAIN, NOR CAN I SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. THEY NEED TO PURCHASE THE CAR BACK FROM ME AND FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO ENSURE NO ONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED FROM THIS HAPPENING AGAIN.

I LEASED THE HONDA CIVIC 2016 AT WOODLAND HILLS HONDA. IT WAS AFTER LEASING DATE, WITHIN 24-48 HOURS TIME, I RETURNED TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN THAT I DID NOT HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING THAT THE HONDA CIVIC 2016 DID NOT COME WITH A CD PLAYER AND ONLY OFFERED AN AUXILIARY CORD OUTLET TO WORK THE ENTIRE SOUND SYSTEM BY MY CELL PHONE. THE CAR DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THAT THEY WERE UNWILLING TO HELP ME WITH A NEW CAR UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY MORE MONEY BUT I COULD NOT GET A NEW CAR AT THE SAME PRICE. I ARGUED FOR MONTHS WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT BEING FORCED TO WORK THE AUDIO SYSTEM AND RUN MY MAPS FOR NAVIGATION THROUGH MY CELL PHONE POSED A SERIOUS THREAT OF DISTRACTED DRIVING. THE CAR IS BUILT IN SUCH A WAY, THAT THE DRIVER IS ONLY GIVEN AN OPTION TO USE THE CELL PHONE TO OPERATE AUDIO AND NAVIGATION. THE WAY THAT THE CAR IS BUILT, WITHOUT THE CD PLAYER, AND ONLY AN AUXILIARY CORD TO PLUG INTO MY PHONE TO WORK THE SOUND SYSTEM INTERFACE CONFLICTS WITH THE CALIFORNIA ANTI-TEXTING LAW VC 23123.5. BEING FORCED TO WORK MY SOUND SYSTEM AND MAPS FOR NAVIGATION ON MY CELL PHONE IS THE SAME SPIRIT AS TO WHAT AND WHY THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW. IT IS DISTRACTED DRIVING. SALESMEN ARE NOT CLEARLY EXPLAINING THAT YOU ARE BUYING A CAR WITH NO CD PLAYER AND YOU NEED TO WORK YOUR MUSIC FROM YOUR CELL PHONE. THERE IS ALSO MORE CONFUSION AT THE POINT OF SALE BECAUSE THERE ARE OTHER CARS THAT COME WITH BOTH THE AUX CORD AND ALSO THE CD PLAYER SUCH AS THE HONDA ACCORD 2016 PILOT FOR EXAMPLE. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I BELIEVED I WAS BUYING A CAR WITH BOTH THE AUX CORD AND THE CD PLAYER. LATER, IS WHEN I LEARNED, I LEASED THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY THE AUX CORD OPTION. I REQUESTED TO END MY CONTRACT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AS I BELIEVED THE CAR WAS A POLICE MAGNET. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE A CAR THAT MAKES ME DO SOMETHING TO ATTRACT OFFICERS. THIS IS A SAFETY AND LEGAL CONCERN. TICKETED ON 8/31/16.

CAR PURCHASED IN MAY , WITH 3700 K HAS HAD 3 ISSUES: GETTING READY TO BACK UP OUT OF DRIVEWAY - THE BACKUP SCREEN WAS DIMINISHED TO A SMALL SLIVER ACROSS THE TOP OF ENTIRE SCREEN WITH THE BALANCE OF SCREEN BLACK. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO BE FIXED. WHEN I DROVE AWAY, ERROR MESSAGES, "TIRE PRESSURE LOW, BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, CHARGING SYSTEM PROBLEM AND ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM." TOK IT RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE TECHNICIAN FAILED TO FORGOT TO ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO RUN THRU THE ENTIRE CYCLE BEFORE RETURNING THE CAR TO ME. JUST HAD PROBLEM WITH THE A/C. CAR WOULD BLOW HOT AIR AFTER 15 MINS OF DRIVING - WAS TOLD HOSE WAS COLLASPING KEEPING COLD AIR FROM COMING OUT. HOSE WAS REPLACED- DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, SAME ISSUE AFTER 15 MINS OF DRIVING. CERTAIN HONDA CIVIC'S HAVE APPLE'S CARPLAY INSTALLED, THROUGH THE IOS IPHONE MOBILE PHONE PLATFORM. WHEN ENABLED, OR PLUGGED INTO THE CAR, NAVIGATION SUPPORT PROVIDED BY APPLE'S MAPS APPLICATION GOES INTO 'DAY MODE' WHILE AT NIGHT. THIS CREATES A HUGE AMOUNT OF BRIGHTNESS IN THE CAR AND BLINDS THE DRIVER WITH BRIGHTNESS. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I CAN EASILY SEE HOW ACCIDENTS CAN BE TRIGGERED DUE TO BLINDING INTERIOR LIGHT DUE TO THE APPLE MAPS (THROUGH CARPLAY) NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ERROR, OR POOR DESIGN BY APPLE/HONDA. I BELIEVE THAT CARPLAY'S NAVIGATION FUNCTION IS A DANGER TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC BECAUSE HAVING HUGE AMOUNTS OF SUDDEN BRIGHTNESS CAUSES DISTRACTION AND MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH VISION.

VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY THROWN ERRORS WITH WARNINGS TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE IT INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE SHOP TWICE FOR THE PROBLEM. IN BOTH CASES HONDA INSTALLED AN UPDATED VSA MODULATOR THEY CLAIMED WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT HAS NOT. NOT THE LOCAL DEALER DOESN'T EVEN WANT TO SEE THE VEHICLE AS THEY TELL ME THEIR IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO FOR US. THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE EMAILED HONDA CORPORATE TO HAVE A REGIONAL REP CONTACT US. I BOUGHT A HONDA CIVIC EX 2016 2.0 L ON 2/17. ON 2/24, THE CAR BROKE DOWN MIDWAY (MILES DRIVEN 88). WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ALL KINDS OF VIDEO WARNING MESSAGES LIKE PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION, BRAKING SYSTEM, STEERING ETC. STARTED APPEARING ON THE CENTER DISPLAY WERE THE VEHICLE'S SPEED GETS DISPLAYED(PART OF THE TACHOMETER / SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY). I HAD TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. NEXT DAY THE DEALER RETURNED THE VEHICLE SAYING THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON. FROM THAT DAY ONWARDS, I STARTED FACING INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE FAILING TO ACCELERATE WHICH I FEEL IS VERY UNSAFE. ON 2/26 (AT SPEED OF 62 MPH) AND AGAIN ON 3/4 (AT SPEED OF 46), WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED LOSING ACCELERATION INSPITE OF ME PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. NOW I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER ON 3/4 AND IT IS WITH THE DEALER FOR THE PAST 6 DAYS. TODAY (3/10), THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN PERFECT CONDITION AS THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I AM NOT FEELING SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANY MORE. I AM LUCKY THAT I DID NOT GET INTO ANY ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE AND HAVE ASKED ME TO TAKE BACK THE UNSAFE VEHICLE OR TRADE-IN THE VEHICLE AS AN USED VEHICLE. SINCE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IT, I AM LEFT WITH NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO BEAR THE LOSS AND TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER 200 MILES (MOST OF THE MILES ADDED DUE MY TRIPS TO DEALER AND THE MILES DRIVEN BY THE DEALER). I HAVE A CASE REGISTERED WITH AMERICAN HONDA. BUT THEY ALSO TURNED ME DOWN. I CANNOT TAKE IN ANY MORE PAIN. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE (HONDA CIVIC EX 2016 2.0 L) AND WAS ALSO ISSUED A STOP OF SALE. INSPITE OF ALL THESE I WAS SOLD THE VEHICLE PUTTING MY LIFE AT RISK. JUST BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE LIST DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS NO PROBLEM.

ELECTRONIC BRAKE - I HAVE HAD 2 INCIDENTS WHERE MY ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING, LUCKILY WAS DRIVING IN CITY AT LOWER SPEEDS. BUT LAST WEEK, WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, STOPPED TO FILL GAS - TURNED ENGINE ON, BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKE SWITCH. HAD TO KEEP TRYING FOR A MIN OR TWO BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT OFF. 2. SUDDEN RESISTANCE - HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS QUITE FREQUENTLY, NEED MORE ACCELERATION TO GET THE VEHICLE INTO MOTION MAINLY AT TRAFFIC STOPS. 3. CAR RADIO - MY MODEL IS EQUIPPED WITH ALL TOUCH SENSITIVE BUTTONS. POWER BUTTON ON RADIO MOSTLY DO NOT RESPOND.

AUDIO SYSTEM IS NOT PROPERLY INITIALIZING ABOUT 80% OF THE TIME YOU START THE CAR. WHILE MUCH OF THIS IS SIMPLY INCONVENIENT (NO SOUND FOR THE RADIO) IT AFFECTS SAFETY AS THERE IS NO SOUND FOR THE BUILT IN GPS FORCING YOU TO LOOK AT THE GPS FOR NAVIGATIONAL PROMPTS VERSUS AUDIO PROMPTS AND THE BLUETOOTH SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION SO DURING INCOMING OR OUTCOMING CALLS INSTEAD OF USING BLUETOOTH HANDS FREE YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR PHONE WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN MANY STATES AND SWITCH FROM THE CAR MODE TO THE HANDSET MODE AND THEN USE ONE HAND TO HOLD THE PHONE TO TALK, FURTHER DISTRACTING FROM SAFE DRIVING. THIS APPEARS TO AFFECT THE TOURING MODEL ONLY, HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. HAPPENS IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS BUT IS RANDOM (ABOUT 80% OF THE TIME AUDIO DOES NOT WORK). HONDA CASE #04338617 WAS OPENED. THEY SAID TO JUST WAIT FOR A FIX, HAVE OWNED CAR FOR 30 DAYS NOW (NEW PURCHASE). DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION EITHER.
