Have a 2017 Honda Civic and my fob has been having issues for months now. Randomly works for turning my car on not responding to remote ignition or when I walk up to my car, it doesn’t recognize my fob so my door won’t unlock. I have to keep pushing different buttons to make it register or I’ll hit my fob on my palm and kind of jar it and sometimes that will make it work. This is a common problem. The A/C system in my Honda 2017 failed. The compressor was covered under Honda’s extended warranty, but the evaporator, which was also leaking, was not covered even though both are part of the same system. This seems to be a common issue. A/C failure can seriously affect comfort and safety in hot and humid conditions, especially when it impacts defogging and visibility. I believe this should be investigated as a potential safety concern.
I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and the dangerous issue related to its air conditioning (A/C) system — a problem affecting many Civic owners nationwide. I initially brought my vehicle to Honda City Chicago for a Honda “campaign” repair (a term they use instead of calling it a recall) in 2023 and again this year, related to the A/C system. I was told the issue would be resolved. However, after agreeing to an optional transmission oil change they recommended, I was later told the A/C still wasn’t fixed — and that I now needed to pay $400 for a diagnostic. That diagnostic revealed the actual problem: a locked A/C compressor. (Which they knew they just wanted the money) This defect is not just an inconvenience — it’s a serious safety hazard. When the A/C is turned on, the locked compressor causes the engine to shake violently and stall completely. This happened to me at a red light; the car shut off, became unresponsive, and I was stuck blocking traffic. If this had occurred while driving at higher speeds, the consequences could have been catastrophic. Many Civic owners have reported similar compressor failures leading to engine stalls and unsafe driving conditions. Honda is aware of this issue but continues to treat it as isolated rather than a systemic defect. I urge the NHTSA to open a formal investigation into this widespread and dangerous issue involving locked A/C compressors in 2016–2020 Honda Civics. A safety recall is warranted before more drivers are put at risk or harmed due to this known defect.
The Body Control Module (BCM) is faulty and causes the alarm to go off on its own, lights inside the cluster glitch turning on by itself and drains the battery even with the key fob nowhere near its vicinity when off. Sometimes does not recognize the key fob.
I brought my 2017 Honda Civic to an authorized dealership in Phoenix, AZ in June 2025 for A/C issues. Honda has issued an extended warranty on A/C compressors and condensers due to known defects, and my compressor was found to be leaking and covered under that warranty. However, the dealership refused to perform the warranty repair unless I agreed to pay $2,311 out of pocket to replace the evaporator, citing signs of dye in the evaporator case. I declined, and the compressor repair was denied. When I picked up the vehicle, the A/C system was worse than before. Before the inspection, the driver side blew 90°F air and the passenger side blew 68°F. After the inspection, both sides blow extremely hot air and there is a loud hissing noise coming from the dash. I now cannot operate the vehicle safely in 110°F+ Arizona heat. This is not just an inconvenience — it’s a potential safety hazard, particularly in a state like Arizona where cabin temperatures can become dangerous. Honda’s refusal to honor the warranty and deterioration of system function following the inspection suggest bad faith and put driver and passenger health at risk. I am filing this report to document the issue and to add to any investigation into this widespread A/C defect on 2016–2018 Honda Civics.
Drivers Side Air Conditioning does not work, blows warm air instead of cold.
The air conditioning system failed—specifically, the A/C evaporator developed a leak and stopped functioning. This is part of the same system that previously experienced failures in the compressor and condenser, both of which were replaced under warranty. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Loss of air conditioning, especially in hot weather, presents a heat-related safety risk, including reduced driver alertness and potential heat exhaustion—particularly for long drives or when transporting vulnerable passengers (e.g. children, elderly). Additionally, a non-functioning defogger (which relies on the A/C system) can impair visibility in humid or rainy conditions, increasing the risk of an accident.
I'm filing this complaint regarding my 2017 Honda Civic Touring (VIN: [XXX] , ~75,000 miles). The AC condenser failed, which Honda covered under an extended warranty (TSB 19-091). However, the AC compressor also failed, and Honda denied coverage, even for goodwill. I believe the compressor failure is a direct result of the leaking condenser with a possible compressor seal leak. Refrigerant loss causes the compressor to overwork and lose lubrication, leading to premature failure. The car mechanic had noted how low our refrigerant fluid was. A compressor should last well beyond 73,000 miles, typically 100,000-150,000+. This early failure, linked to a known condenser defect, points to a systemic manufacturing flaw. Furthermore, the dealership's "blue light" test for leaks might have been inadequate. Honda's TSB 23-012 specifically requires a "calibrated sniffer" for compressor shaft seal leaks, a more rigorous diagnostic that may have been overlooked. This means a compressor seal leak, caused by the condenser issue, could have been missed. Widespread AC component failures (condensers and compressors) in 10th-gen Civics are well-documented, leading to class-action lawsuits. This is not an isolated incident but a pervasive defect. A sudden AC failure affects driver comfort and can be a safety concern, especially in extreme heat, by potentially causing distraction. I urge NHTSA to investigate this systemic issue and compel Honda to cover the compressor replacement, acknowledging the direct link and apparent manufacturing defect. Bottom window molding on all 4 windows fails prematurely, seemingly happening on every 10th-Generation Honda.
Leaking somewhere near condenser for the air conditioning
There is no cold air blowing from my AC
Came out to a dead battery, despite the battery being less than four months old. On one occasion, I came out to the vehicle with the windows rolled down. On another occasion, I was told there was an issue with the anti-theft system. There was even a time where I came out to my car in accessory mode, despite not turning the vehicle on. Reading online, all signs point to a failure of the BCM. This is a common enough issue where there are entire threads dedicated to the problem.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING MECHANISM HAS FAILED/STALLED ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. INCLUDING THE PASSENGER AND BACK RIGHT DOOR. YES, IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER A YEAR. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I HAVE BEEN ROBBED. MY DOORS DO NOT LOCK ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHILE DRIVING*. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? NO. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO, AND THERE STILL ISNT.
My AC started blowing hot air in 2023. I checked in with Honda and apparently they extended the warranty on the compressor shaft seal and condenser due to a class action lawsuit and other customer complaints. It turned out that both of those parts were affected in my vehicle and I got a free replacement. A year later my AC started blowing hot air again. This time the evaporator was the problem. Apparently it was not covered by warranty, and according to Honda the reason was that the compressor and condenser were separate from the evaporator, which meant the issues weren’t related. Upon research, the evaporator going bad is a common issue with Honda. I didn’t get the part replaced and paid $200 to Honda for the inspection.
The AC condenser, compressor, blower, & evapoartor core all broke down. After repair, I’m still receiving a “fog horn noise” audiable sound. This is dangerous as I have no A/C in the hot summer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed the issue. They will only fix the first two (condensor & compressor) under warranty, which I’m not under warranty. They say Honda won't fix the evaporator core even though this one breaking is almost certainly a result of the condesor & compressor breaking. We believe this should also be covered under warranty. There was no warning of the issue. The evaporator core costs $2k to repair and Honda refuses to help, even though the dealer let us know that this part breaking was almost certainly caused by the parts under warranty breaking down. We asked for second oppinions with other mechanics who told us the same thing. Ended up repairing at a 3rd party shop after spending 45 days within 2 years in the shop for this issue, and paying over $5k in diagnostic and recharged coolant. The lemon law statutes are on the horizon, and the prima facie negligence to avoid repair is on the face of this ongoing issue.
Paint is bubbling and peeling around rear window inlay. We noticed it in August 2024, but not sure when it actually started happening. Car was not in an accident, and is in an area where there was never any exterior damage. I contacted honda and they reviewed the case and did not consider it an issue or defect caused by manufacturer. I know honda has had issues with the white paint, but I believe my paint has the same defect due to the location and how the paint is coming off. I also contacted my local honda dealer and they advised normally, for this issue, they would do a courtesy warranty repair, but since we don't service our vehicles there they wouldn't honor that. I want this documented for honda paint issues because I am sure I am not the only one with the problem.
I drove home from work today like normal. Pushed the engine start/stop button before getting out of the car. The radio was still on, and the dash was still on, with Accessory Mode, push "start/stop" twice to turn off, or something similar to that. I pushed the button twice. It went to accessory mode. I started the engine, drove the car out of the drive way, came back, pushed the button to turn off the car... accessory mode. turned the car on, turned the car off.... accessory mode. Moved the keys all away from the car. Started the car (which i could do because it WAS STILL IN ACCESSORY MODE) and drove the car, meanwhile there was a big warning saying there was no key fob in the proximity. Parked the car, pushed the on/off button.... accessory mode. I have tried everything I can think of, the car wont lock. It wont exit accessory mode unless its in full on start. Someone could come along and steal my car because I cant turn it off. all i can do is disconnect the battery and after 2-3 days i connect it and it works just temporarily. This is not ok and unsafe especially when i have a new born and stranded in the middle of the wors place due to this issue.
The A/c evaporator needs to be replaced. It leaks refrigerant.
Our Honda Civic is white. On the right rear quarter panel where the rear window glass meets the quarter panel. The paint is bubbling, flaking and pealing off.
The paint started to fade and turn white 3 1/2 years ago. Called Honda and they said they were aware of the paint failure but my color did not have many with that issue and they could not do a recall on my color. Been fighting them for over 3 years and not I have several body parts that are having paint failure
My white paint is peeling really bad all over the car and it’s a 2017 Honda civic Lx. Clear coat is coming off along with original base coat. Starting to get rust and this car is not that old.
The condensor, compressor & evapoartor core all broke down This is dangerous as this is our family vehicle and we have no A/C in the hot summer The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed the issue. They will only fix the first two (condensor & compressor) under warranty. They say Honda won't fix the evaporator core even though this one breaking is almost certainly a result of the condesor & compressor breaking. We believe this should also be covered under warranty. There was no warning of the issue The evaporator core costs $2k to repair and Honda refuses to help, even though the dealer let us know that this part breaking was almost certainly caused by the parts under warranty breaking down. We asked for second oppinions with other mechanics who told us the same thing.
The NH-788P White Orchid Pearl Paint that was given an extended warranty due to a "paint peeling problem" on the Fit and HR-V models is now affecting Civics. I currently own a 2017 Civic Hatchback with the same paint, from the same country of manufacturing origin, within the same time frame, and was never given an extension warranty and currently am being denied help. The worst paint peeling, under the trunk, is actually protected from weather ... this is easily a defect that originated from Honda. Honda is denying any responsibility at the moment, refuses to help me via phone calls or email defaulting to the response of "Your car isn't under warranty." even though they have acknowledged issues and provided coverage for different models AND Canada covers my situation unlike the USA: [XXX] Had I know about this defect with my car with an official statement from Honda, it would have impacted my choices back in 2020 and 2021. I would of sold it around 2021 or contacted Honda earlier to settle these issues that would of happened under the extended warranty if I was given one. Honda's constant inaction once again damages consumers everywhere where the repair for paint is roughly 60% of the value of the car itself ... The has been a recall regarding AC, which I have fixed. Months later and it’s not working again. I’ve also had steering issues. Don’t know what it is exactly, but I’ve drove this car for daily commute the past 2 and half years and all of a sudden feel the need to grip my steering wheel because I don’t have full control of it like I used to
The paint on my Honda Civic 2017 began peeling off the back window of my vehicle starting in 2022. I've since then paid to have it repaired, but now peeling is starting to occur on other places of the vehicle, such as the front hood, the fender, and the bumper. Honda has already admitted that a manufacturing issue involving the paint on the back window has been reported. This peeling problem is becoming too expensive to handle and Honda will not extend the paint warranty beyond the 3-year time frame. This is a serious issue as having too much of the car body exposed with lead to rusting.
AC system is manufactured poorly and fails on me, starts blowing hot air, every single summer for the past 3+ years i have bought the car from a honda dealer. When i have to drive to my job to afford to buy food and an apartment the hot air makes me light headed and impairs my ability to focus clearly on driving. The problem has been reproduced by countless other civic owners within a set manufactured model years. Yes it has been inspected by a Honda dealership. No, never any warning, messages, or alerts before or during the AC failure. Also no warnings of the faulty AC system when i purchased the car from a certified Honda Dealer.
A/C Evaporator went bad. Dealership already replaced other A/C components as part of extended warranty/recalls. However, the evaporator is not covered by the extended warranty. Could lead to incredibly high temperatures within the car or other components failing/overheating. Dealership quoted $2400 to fix the evaporator.
This car has an air conditioning issue. Last year the air conditioning stopped working. took it to the honda dealership and they found an issue with the condenser and seals. they fixed it free of charge due to the extended warranty honda put out. not even a full year later the air conditioning stopped working again. took it back to the honda dealership and turns out it's the evaporator. it's not covered by the extended warranty. they quoted me $3,000 to repair it. honda knows the a/c parts are bad. they dont want to cover it.
AC leaking Freon inside cabin. Honda is aware that 2016-2019 Honda civics have a bad A/C systems. Other crucial A/C components, such as the condenser and compressor, are covered by an extended 10-year warranty. However, the evaporator, is not. AC unit leaking Freon right into the drivers face. . Making it extremely dangerous and hazardous to operate the vehicle Many articles about this please help? Honda USA is not helping fix and wants to do outrageous changes to get it fix. It is unfair for Honda to leave the most expensive and labor intensive part of this repair to the customer. My deal quoted me $2672 for this repair.
2017 CIVIC AC INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE AC EVAPORATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED AND THE CAR ONLY 36,000 MILES ONLY, NO WARRANTY BY HONDA AND THE AC HAS FAILED 4 TIMES AFTER THE RECALL FOR AC CONDENSER. NEED HELP TO MAKE HONDA HELD LIABILITY FOR FAIL AC COMPONENTS SINCE IT HAS BEEN TOO MANY FAILURE WITH THEIR CAR'S AC SYSTEM
A/C refrigerant leaking/ A/C not working.
Everything is good
My AC system would not blow cold and the blower made a noise. Dealer replaced condenser under extended warranty in May 2023. Same problem is occurring now less than 9 months later. Recently moved to Florida where air conditioning is a must have. Taking car to dealership tomorrow. Bottom line - Honda replaced original faulty condenser under warranty last year but unit has failed again.
My apologies, I just filled out a form (Your Complaint Number: 11563943) and forgot to add problems with AC with my 2017 Honda Civic EX Sedan. My AC went out, went to local dealership, they recharged this around August 2023 I believe. Good now, but my point is I'd ask how long this will last. They said they don't know. I'm like a day, week, month(s)? Again they couldn't say. I live in a very warm area during the Summer, need AC and I need a cool AC environment when driving. I think I deserve to be comfortable. At the dealership, I had mentioned about a Honda recall letter I received about AC. It was either the Compressor or Condenser that is recalled, I forget. Well, they stated after looking at my car, that it was the item that isn't covered. Bill would be close to $1,000.00, I believe. Come on. I find this shady, confusing and concerning with Honda. Thank you again for your help!!! Yes my Life is at risk with this as well. Again, my Life matters also! This is my 4th Honda and I never had so many things go sideways with the last three Hondas as I'm experiencing now with this 2017 Civic EX. This is just ridiculous. Just about fed up with Honda.
Unsure of when happened but cvt filler cap keeps blowing out for no reason causing transmission fluid to leak every where.
Paint is completely flaking off down to the metal along the edges around the rear window on roof, driver quarter panel, and passenger quarter. It has been flaking for 2 years now. I bought the car in 2017 brand new.
I am adding to the long list of duplicate AC complaints. I had cold air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver side. I brought in my vehicle to the dealership in response to two AC component recalls. I was informed the compressor, evaporator and condenser ALL had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They would ONLY cover the condenser and quoted $4,400 for additional repairs.
A/C was not working as a result of condenser (covered by warranty) and evaporator (not covered by warranty.). Considered a safety hazard due to unusually hot summer where heat related dangers could be caused without A/C. I found myself driving in 110 degree weather in a 45 minute commute where I felt nauseous after. The a/c is a common problem for many 2016 and later Hondas. My vehicle was inspected by dealer and an independent mechanic (separate incident). No warning of this happening other than a hissing noise coming from A/c and then hot air blowing.
For several months, I was facing an issue with being able to lock and unlock my car properly. You could hear the mechanisms in the car trying to respond when I would press my key fob or the buttons inside the car but the locks themselves would not move. I would either need to use my physical car key to manually lock or unlock the door. Or if i was in the vehicle, i would manually unlock the driver door and then re-lock it. The problem seemed to start out of nowhere. The dealer confirmed the problem and said it was related to the door lock actuator. In two of the doors, the actuators had failed and in the other two they were on their way to failing. I had all four replaced which was a large and unexpected expense. But the ability to get in and out of the car safely and know that it is safely locked to prevent theft is very important. I did send a letter to Honda corporate about this problem and I felt this was a very strange part to stop working on a car that was brought brand new 6 year sago.
Driver side AC is not working
The air conditioning only blows cold on the passenger side. This appears to be.a known issue.
In 2017 a Honda civic was brought, 2 weeks later AC problems started. Vehicle was returned for repairs requested by a senior dealership personnel. Problems continued with same issue and not fixed. Recent recalls of the AC Compressor and other AC defects of this vehicle has been denied several times (up till now). Honda has repeatedly denied claim to resolve this issue when it has been acknowledged that the original AC systems in most of these vehicles are defective. Vehicle is very hot especially in these very high and hot temperature conditions.
AC component: Condenser and Evaporator (issue is systematic as it's creating issues to Freon) Current RECALL is only for Condenser but it's systematic to Evaporator (faulty part that has failed); I believe Honda is circumventing the cost to repair and is revealing only condenser part failure vs taking ownership on full AC component (if one fail the other will too). Reading blog, reddit, and many other complaints, outside repair shop says finding will still cost consumers $2,000 to fix evaporator caused by part failure. Issues still exist in honda model 2016-2019 and alarming rate of consumers venting the poor quality of the AC component. Honda quality control has not rendored and technician is having consumer fix parts that is near the area (systemic) to known faulty part. Keyless entry problem on my car. I was unable to get into my car and when I used the key from the fob to enter the car, the car wouldn't start. I was stranded and needed to call for help. The car was jumped and started again to get it back to my house. In the morning, the car wouldn't start again so was towed to a local mechanic in my town called Desert Dawg and they were able to start the car again and it drove for about a week and then the same problem happened. They put in a new battery and worked again for about a week. The car then would start but wouldn't shut off without disconnecting the battery. Then one night the car just started beeping uncontrollably and the car would not shut off the beeping and key fob not recognized. Towed back to Desert Dawg and said it was a keyless entry problem but the part he needed to fix it was on National Shortage and could take 7 months or more to get the part. He told me to take it to the Honda Dealership to see if they could help me. Car towed again to Honda dealership and they said it was a keyless entry problem and the part called a body control module with Part number: 38809-TBC-A31 was on back order and on National shortage and the part may not arrive for 7 months or longer or never. I now have no car to get to work. I called the Honda Corporation and got the same answer of this part being on national shortage. How can people be left stranded. I live in Arizona and the temperatures get very hot and people could die if their car doesn't start. Please address this issue. thanks.
My 2017 Honda Civic Touring, has had two major issues in the past two months. So far, I have put about $3,000 in these issues. Issue 1:Two months ago, they found a leak in the front seal of the compressor, and it had to be replaced. There is no extended warranty on the compressor (only the condenser), though it seems to be a big issue for the Civic. This expense was approximately $2000. Issue 2:Long story short, a few weeks ago, my car alarm started going off about every four hours and had killed my battery by the next morning. During this time, my key fabs no longer worked and we had to jump the car to take it to the shop. The Body Control Module had gone out with no pervious warnings. Honda told my mechanic they’re on backorder and it will be nine months to a year before they could get a replacement. They located a used one and installed it. Though they were told it was a match, it was missing certain elements that my car had – back seat windows, auto lock when you exit your car, and front led blinkers. My front blinkers no longer work, and the previous Honda was probably bulbs. Needless to say, this can only be a temporary fix because it’s dangerous and won’t pass inspection. So far this expense has cost approximately $900. I’ve emailed Honda, and my issue has been ignored. They haven’t offered to help for either case. These things should not be happening to civics with this low mileage and age. So I now have a new BCM on backorder with a Honda dealer, and some time down the road, I will be paying for this expense again.
While driving down the highway we heard a horrible grinding sound. We pulled over and looked under the car. The engine sheild was dragging. We took it to the dealer and it was replaced at a cost of $405.03. Today 339 days after the part was replaced and 16,000 miles after the replacement the same thing happened. This time the shield actually fell off in the middle of the road. So we are going to replace it again. I was curious about if this was a common problem and it is. Often it occurs after an oil change when the mechanic fails to secure the shield properly. And often at honda dealers. Seems fishy to me. What can we do about this? Am i going to have to replace the shield every year?
AC does not work! It only blows hot air. It gets very hot in the car, even with all the windows rolled down. Also, gas cap is broken. Does not close all the way and sticks out. So therefore it no longer locks. Thought my gas was possibly getting stolen, but there was no changes to my gas.
Ac blowing hot air
AC evaporator core failure. It appears Honda Civic has AC problems. This is the second time the AC has stopped working.
My AC system stopped working and when checked it was a faulty AC condenser that was on recall. So the dealer fixed it for free then about 4 months later my air blows only hot again. Went back to get it checked and now they are saying the evaporator core needs to be replaced and charged me $2600 to fix. Seems fishy and I feel if one component is failing the whole system should be covered under an extended warranty.
Ed morse changed my push to start button and now my car has a body control module. Which draining my battery every day. Now I've changed the battery 6 times. I'm left with the parts being on back order. Ed morse service manager told me the parts came in and they were trying to reach me which was a lied because when I showed up they told me they don't have it now they nor sure when the parts are coming. The parts are on back order in japan.
I purchased a 2017 Honda Civic LX from a local Honda. 10 minutes after leaving the dealership, the TPMS lights came on. Please note it was cold outside. Took the car to Autozone to have codes read. Code c0077-78 was detected. Once I got home, I checked the tire air pressure and the tire air pressure was low. I added air to tire afterward. I reset the TPMS and the TPMS light went away. The next day, the light came on for a few seconds after I started the car, but the light disappeared again. I didn't check the air pressure. I took it to Autozone to see if any codes were detected, but no codes were detected and all systems were functional.
The board control module failed and replacements are not available. Available for inspection upon request. Due to the component failing, the vehicle goes to accessory mode randomly or even to its on without engine mode. The wireless key will not grant access during these times or remote start. Without constantly charging the battery, the vehicle will completely discharge its battery. This issue has been verified with the dealership and component inspected. No warning lamps gave away the process of the failure. warning lights only appear now after jumping the vehicle from a depleted battery due to the failure.
2017 Honda Civic with 15K milage - A/C broke down for the second time after I had it’s condenser replaced at the dealership in 2019 due to cracks/holes. I took it to the dealership few days ago and they told me it costs $509.00 for diagnosis. Took it somewhere else to recharge it but it only lasted 2 days and we’re back to blowing warm air but what’s interesting is that the passenger side’s vent blows slightly cooler air than the driver side! I took it to many auto repair places and I was told many times that 2016-2019 models have faulty A/C which Honda knows about but won’t issue a recall. I hope these complaints lead to a formal investigation.
Pre-incident.... Improper weather stripping around both front and back windshield hold water on seams around installed windows. This results in air bubbles separating the glass from the glue seam and rubber seats. If too many occur for a long enough period, windshield can crack, shatter or break completely free during normal driving. This is happening on a less than 5 year old car. Honda Dealership has inspected and taken pictures of bubble areas that are occurring between the entire seal. Bubbles started occurring 3 years ago and got significantly worse over time. No warning lamps.
This complaint is specifically about the A/C Evaporator in my Honda Civic. After taking my car in for the 2nd time in about 13 months (to the Honda Dealership), the A/C system appears to be faulty on my vehicle. After online research, it appears that this is very common issue for many 2016-2019 Honda Civic models and it’s hard to imagine the company isn’t aware. Thus far, the company has offered to cover the Condenser issue (after the company was in a class action lawsuit) but will not cover the A/C Evaporator, which costs over $2000. Given the recent heat waves, the safety of myself and my passengers are potentially compromised until this issue is fixed, especially those with disabilities. It would be highly appreciated if this matter is investigated and resolved for all Honda Civic owners. Thank you!
2017 Honda Civic the AC stopped cooling in the middle of summer in summer California where the temperature is regularly above 110 degrees. An AC failure in this area IS a safety issue. After paying $289 for diagnosis they said the evaporator is leaking. The warranty was extended for all 2017 Honda Civics for leaks of the condenser. They also have similar complaints for the compressors. We have 3 other older Hondas that have never had an evaporator start leaking and when we said that to the service tech, he said that newer Hondas are less reliable. This is at a Honda dealership, so it's quite the sales pitch for buying a new Honda. It seems obvious that the 2017 Honda Civic has an overall problem with the AC. I was quoted $1800 for repair, but I am not convinced that is the problem. I wish I hadn't taken it to a dealership to start with, but I was sure that they would be honest and cover the repair under warranty. A new aftermarket evaporator from a very reputable company costs under $70 so that's a lot of labor costs added on. Civicx.com has so many reports of this problem that it's over 12 pages long. This problem should definitely be covered under the 10 year extended warranty.
Air-Conditioner (A/C, AC). 2017 Civic EX-L Sedan. A/C system blows only warm air on drivers side vents, but seems to blow cool(er) from passenger side vents. Just adding this to the MANY other complaints about A/C system in 10th Gen Honda Civics.
I got a new Honda Civic last 2017. My car air conditioning has not been working for the past months. When I started have it fix, I called different car repair shop in Orange County for the past months. They always asked me about my car model and year and every time I give it to them they turned me down from shop like Firestone, pepboys, and several of their branch and even small repair shop. I went to Honda service but they charge me too much I can’t afford. Luckily my car was accepted for AC repair in one of Pepboys branch. They assessed and recharge my car AC but less than a month AC is not working I brought it back after they say a lot of problem and charging me too much. I just need a working AC for my car. Please help me have my car fix fairly in this difficult time.
Cooling issue. Air conditioning not cooling down. Coolant and freon full. No one knows why the car ac wont work above 80°f. One side of car is semi cool other not at all blows hot air.
Last week the AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $800 to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Honda came out with a TSB regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. TSB 19-091, dated Dec 11th 2019. Per the bulletin: " American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. " However, there seems to be an EQUALLY large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of Civic as well. Every single private mechanic I spoke to said they's seen dozens of '17 Civics with the exact same issue and to take it back to Honda. As such, it turns out failure across ALL the components of the AC system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years. I believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover ALL repairs across the AC system. As a 1st responder, it is not safe for me to drive this vehicle to/from work in the 115 degree weather that we get here in Fresno, CA. There are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well: https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1 There were NO warnings prior to my AC going out.
Driving at 60MPH, heard a loud bang followed by an increase in wind noise. After pulling over, saw that the sunroof had a large hole in it with most of the broken glass falling into the sunroof soft cover. The remaining glass had a spider-web like pattern all the way to the border. There was no evidence of any foreign object in the sunroof area or any impact/collision. The car was not being driven under trees or other overhangs. There was rain in the vicinity, but no hail. Temperature was 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.
My AC stopped blowing cold air in October 2021. The car has 32,000 miles. (There is an error in the dealer report.) I brought the car to an independent mechanic. He said he could not fix the problem because only Honda dealers have the proper coolant for the system. The dealer said the front of the compressor is leaking at the gasket and needs to be replaced at a cost of $1350. This seems to be a common problem in this generation of Honda Civics. Honda has extended the warranty for the condenser, but not the compressor. They need to extend the warranty for the compressor as well. This is an unhealtful situation because leaking freon is not good and because now I have to drive with the windows open and breathe in the exhaust of other cars. Thank you.
Honda Service Bulletin 19-091 Warranty Extension : A/C Condenser Leaking My vehicle began to blow hot air on the driver side. No warning lights or service light warned me. I need to understand if my car is covered by the HONDA Service Bulletin 19-091
Unable to attain a comfortable cabin temperature due to a leaking evaporator located under the dashboard in the cabin. Driver comfort is necessary in the torrid Arizona heat. Driver discomfort can compromise the safe operation of a vehicle. A comfortably cooled cabin is essential for safe vehicle operation. Inhaling leaking refrigerant gas in a closed cabin is unhealthful and unsafe. Honda has built and delivered Civics with defective air conditioning components and then as these parts failed, the Civic owners have to pay for essential repairs. Honda did replace the condenser on this vehicle at no cost on 6/8/2020. The recent replacement of the evaporator and actuator valve did come at a discounted cost of $1,537.50. I appreciate the technicians that repaired the car. The failure of the condenser and the evaporator are indicative of the defective and deficient quality of the parts used and are a harbinger of more related parts to fail, namely the compressor, all tubing and related seals, and the dryer. These parts are not covered under any warranty. The only parts of reliable value are the knobs and buttons on the dashboard. I was not able to get possession of the evaporator that was removed because I did not make the request when the service order was written. It would have been helpful to evaluate the part for failure. I am not sure why Honda does not care to evaluate failed parts. The remedy for all affected Civic owners would be for the NHTSA to direct Honda USA to immediately remove every air conditioning component and replace the entire system with a highly reliable OEM quality air conditioning system that is immune from failure. The cost of this resolution would be paid entirely out of Honda executive management compensation. The NHTSA and Honda USA need to understand that safety cannot be compromised! There will be a declining demand for Honda cars made with deficient and defective parts
This to help all the others with the AC issue. 2019 bought the car and the AC barely worked. Have extended warranty with CarMax and went to Honda of winter park. Well my girlfriend did I was away. They charged her $350 to say the compressor was shot. And that the cost was around $2200. I find out and she goes to CarMax with the estimate and they replace everything. We break up I come back get in the car AC doesn't work. Now I'm in lake city, go to Honda, this is were you need to pay attention. The condenser was replaced, for free, they said it was $150 to find the problem. Had my 45k mile service done as well. Show up at the dealership and my cost? $0 To my shock the service manager was honest. The condenser is under Honda warranty. They waved the $150 cause I told them it couldn't be the compressor, had to be the condenser. And the they gave me the oil change for free. Do not let Honda service around the country charge you for the problem they already know. $300, to $700 estimates? Shameful. Go to Honda tell them it's the condenser. If the AC seems to blow out of 1 vent cold while the rest warm, or the AC is cold when it's still cool outside, or even hearing a slight hiss under the hood. It's the condenser. Tell them you want the condenser changed. Nothing else! You have control of what they fix on your car. They know what's wrong without lifting the hood. My AC is ice cold. Took 3 years but it works. You don't have to be charged for diagnosis. And everyone that was cheated and treated unfairly there is a Honda number of they're US home office. Call tell them. I was told by the service manager that $150 is the highest they go. Why? Cause they have to remove the front bumper just to check. So be specific. I need the condenser replaced.
Honda civic is a 2017 and the ac went out> there has been a lot of civics from 16-18 that have had the same issues. Honda will not do a recall due to defective A/C compressor units even though there has been several cases. summer is here and my 17 civic gets up to 110 degrees inside while transporting family. i have done some research and there is tons of websites filled with people complaining about the same issue. this has cost them hundreds of dollars and still no recall.
The AC is not working, I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the air conditioner. They charged $1800. Under the 6 month warranty I took it back because it was not cooling, the repair shop said the car had little holes near the condenser which drained out the Freon, they filled it again with Freon
My 2017 Honda Civic has been blowing out hot air. At just 36k miles. It is unsafe to be driving my younger siblings and nephew in this hot weather, My vehicle is a salvage so “it wasn’t applicable for me to get the recall” but I believe that shouldn’t matter Honda purposely knew their were defects in the AC but yet do not want to own up to it and fix it.
The air conditioner stopped cooling and was throwing out warm air. When we took the car to the local Honda dealer they said it was covered under an a/c condenser recall TSB 19-091:6C300. On 7/8/2021 after the repair was completed, the tech mentioned that even after they replaced the condenser there was still a leak in the compressor and we need to get that replaced as well. The compressor is not covered under warranty or recall and we may have to spend about $1200 for it. This 2017 Honda Civic was purchased by us on 8/31/2020 from another Honda dealer who (we found out later) had already replaced the condenser under the same recall notice on 8/6/2020 before selling it to us. It seems the leaking a/c condenser is also damaging the compressor over a period or the entire a/c unit had manufacturing defects and should be covered under the recall.
The A/C does not work at all. With A/C on max, warm air blows.
Air conditioning started to blow hot and the Freon was low. Had to refill the Freon which is using the new R-1234yf fluid which is hard to find at autozone and is very expensive for a 1 pound can at $50. Still cheaper than a mechanic or dealership price. Problem is that the car has 27000 miles and has only been driven sparingly and was never abused. A month later and it’s starting to blow warmer only on 100 degree weather. I currently cannot afford to have full repairs done to the AC. Never had hit anything with my car. Paint and interior is in near excellent condition. So it’s obviously not my fault. Honda should be ashamed.
Honda gives the condenser problem a extended warranty, yet they are not addressing the EVAP leak as their faulty. This EVAP leak is apparent to civic owners and they need to take the full responsibility for the malfunction. I drove over 3 years with less than 20,000 miles on the car, which should not have the a/c problem.
Drivers side of the car AC blows warm air. Passenger side blows cold air.
My air conditioner does not blow cold air as was working before. It has 30,000 miles. Dealership said condenser would be replaced if defective. It would cost $500. to inspect and determine the cause. Defective condenser could have caused damages to other parts of air conditioning unit. I cannot afford $500. to inspect to find possible damage to operation of car, such as electrical, or leaks, or compressor. Along with refrigerant quoted by dealership at $150. per pound. The air conditioning unit was poorly designed as a common issue other owners have experienced. Repairs could result in the thousands of dollars. No warning lamps , messages, or other symptoms noticed. I checked fuse and relay. Freon refrigerant should not have leaked as I have never had this happen with other cars I’ve owned with much more mileage. Heat in parked car in sun could be detrimental to my young children. If car should be inspected by auto air conditioning specialist shop, and repairs made, would dealership complete repair of condenser if it is the cause. Auto air conditioning specialist would cost cheaper than $500. Their hourly rates are cheaper. To inspect and determine the cause. My name is [XXX] and can be reached at[XXX]. The AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership (where purchased) to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $2K to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Especially with the 100+ temps we get in the middle of Kansas in Summer. Additionally, the lack of a function AC debilitates the function of the Defrost making it extremely dangerous to drive in foggy, rainy, and/or humid conditions. There are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well: https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1 There were no warnings prior to my AC going out.
A/C compressor failed. Mileage 51,000.
This vehicle was purchased in May 2017 and in April of 2021 the paint started peeling off the exterior around the rear window. This does not put my safety at risk but I do see that Honda has had this problem with many of their vehicles in recent years. This problem was reported to American Service Honda on June 4 2021, but because I am days past the expiration date of warranty Honda refuses to diagnose the issue without cost to me. I did not immediately report it when first noticed because I had not realized how recent this car was purchased. But like stated prior, Honda has confirmed the same issue for other of their models in recent years. I have owned other vehicles like toyotas and other brands to which do not have the same issue so it is not due to sun damage nor wear. Another issue is that the window trims on all passenger and driver windows are breaking shrinking and falling apart. Again this is also known problem with honda cars in consumer reports.org all throughout the U.S . This may be of safety concern if they fall off while driving I wouldn't want it to land on another cars front window or perhaps the windows can be damaged or cracked. One last thing that is also a common issue for hondas, that is an issue for mine is that the front bumper is very low it gets stuck on parking bumpers this causes the sides to start breaking and if it were to fall off it would be a major safety concern.
My sedan isnt cooling since last 3 weeks. My local dealer Honda dealer Elk Grove is charging me $450. just to check this time with no repairs. I am concern its just 3.5 years old. Please Look into this Mileage 42000.
My 2017 Honda Civic EXL hatchback has a little over 23000 miles. I bought it back in 2016 and have no issues until last summer. The ac blows hot air and under the hood there is a hissing sound coming from the front passenger side. I live in Florida and thank God I have no children to suffer with me. I have to completely change my schedule to night because the heat is unbearable and I'm worried about my health and safety. I'm now aware that Honda is having all this issues with the ac for years and have done nothing about it. The dealers only want to charge people to have it fix knowing it was defective from the beginning. Just a diagnostic is about $700. Do people need to die of heat strokes before doing a recall?
Vehicle loses AC refrigerant. They replaced leaky condenser after my having to take it in 13 times and fight with them. Now AC evaporator makes noise and they won't replace it because it hasn't completely failed. I paid 1846.00 extra to have an extended warranty but it has done me no good. Now my warranty has run out and I face a failing AC system known to have a refrigerant that eats holes in every part of the AC system. If my AC system fails and I can't afford to fix it, I risk fogged up windows and loss of vision and heatstroke when it is hot and I live in California and it is hot often.
2017 honda civic, 60K miles, started blowing warm air. Dealership stated it wasn't the condenser thats under active recall, it just happens to be the compressor. $2500 to fix, 3 weeks and I havent heard from Honda Corp. This presents a clear safety concern under wet and humid conditions due to condensation on the windshield.
I HAVE A 2017 Honda Civic. The Air conditioner stopped working. it does not blow cold air. the compressor clutch does engage but no cold air will come out of the system. the car is not even 4 years old and has 45,000 miles it should not have to be recharged
AIR CONDITIONER IN VEHICLE STOPPED COOLING CAUSING EXCESS BUILD UP OF MOISTURE ON INTERIOR WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOWS IMPAIRING VISIBILITY AND SAFE OPERATION OF VEHICLE. RAINING PREVENTED THE ABILITY TO ROLL WINDOWS DOWN TO CLEAR WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS. HAD TO MANUALLY WIPE THE INTERIOR OF WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD TO SEE CONSTANTLY UNTIL I MADE IT BACK TO MY HOME.

AIR CONDITIONER FAILS TO COOL AND INSTEAD BLOWS HOT AIR. HONDA AUTHORIZED SERVICE TECHNICIAN HAS CONFIRMED THAT A DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR HAS CAUSED FREEON LEAKAGE FROM THE COMPRESSOR'S MAIN SHAFT THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM.
THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPS BLOWING COLD AIR AT IDLE AND OCCASIONALLY EVEN WHEN DRIVING. THIS MAY POSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN HOTTER CLIMATES IF THERE ARE CHILDREN, ELDERLY PEOPLE, SPECIAL NEEDS PERSONS, OR PETS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED.

2020 I HAVEN'T USED THE CAR MUCH DO TO COVID-19. MAYBE 1000 MILES. FEBRUARY 2021 I NOTICED THE COLD AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. SEEMS THAT THE AIR ONLY BLOWS. I JUST DISCOVERED TODAY THAT HONDA SEEMS TO HAVE ISSUES WITH AC CONDENSERS. I SENT AN EMAIL TO HONDA TO SEE IF MY VIN HAS THE WARRANTY FOR THE CONDENSER. I WILL INSPECT IT AND SEE IF THAT'S WHAT IS GOING ON. CAR HAS 40K MILES. 2017 SEDAN EX 2.0L NEED AC TO DEFOG WINDSHIELD FOR VISIBILITY! AND KEEP ME COOL SO I CAN OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY! I'M NOT SURE IF IT FAILED AT SOME POINT IN 2020. BUT I JUST NOTICED IT NOW DURING SOME VERY HOT DAYS. AUTOMATIC BREAKING SHOULD HAVE RECALL. WHEN I DRIVE AND SOMEONE IN FRONT JUMPS ACROSS MY LANE TO GET INTO ANOTHER LANE, THE CAR WILL SLAM THE BRAKES AFTER THE CAR IN FRONT IS ALREADY LEFT THE LANE AND IT'S INSIDE ANOTHER LANE. THAT'S A VERY DELAYED RESPONSE AND UNNECESSARY BECAUSE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME NEED TO GET ON THE BRAKE HARD TO AVOID HITTING ME. I TRY TO FLOOR IT IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS BUT THE SYSTEM WON'T LET ME. THE ONLY THING THIS LEAVES ME TO DO IS DISABLED THE SYSTEM BY HOLDING DOWN THE BUTTON. BUT THAT REMOVES THE SAFETY FEATURES. SOMETIMES SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME BRAKES FAST SUDDENLY. I JUMP TO ANOTHER LANE AND THE SYSTEM APPLIES THE BRAKES ONCE I ALREADY JUMPED INTO ANOTHER LANE WITH NOBODY IN IT. HOWEVER IF THERE IS SOMEONE BEHIND, THEN THE PERSON HONKS BECAUSE THE CAR JUST SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES! I HAVE VIDEO PROOF OF THIS. IT'S AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN

I WAS ON AN ERRAND TRIP FROM ALHAMBRA TO SANTA ANA. AIR CONDITIONER IS WORKING FINE UNTIL I STOPPED TO DROP OFF DOCUMENTS IN ALHAMBRA. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING WHEN I RETURN AND STARTUP MY CAR. MY VEHICLE WAS AT 66700 MILES. NO ACCIDENT HISTORY. NORM REEVES HONDA AT WEST COVINA DIAGNOSED BOTH A/C COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE LEAKING. REQUEST GOODWILL REPAIR FROM AMERICA HONDA BUT WAS ULTIMATELY DENIED.

MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC EX-T COUPE SHUTS DOWN MY DIGITAL SCREEN AND AUDIO SYSTEM WITH THE MESSAGE "AMP IS IN PROTECTION MODE" THIS THEN MAKES ANY HANDS FREE DEVICES TURN COMPLETELY OFF FROM THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IN MY STATE, CELL PHONES AND ANY OTHER FORM OF ELECTRONICS ARE NOT PERMITTED. SO WHEN BEING ON THE PHONE OR USING GPS IT SHUTS EVERYTHING DOWN AND THATS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I RECENTLY WENT TO MANY HONDA DEALERS AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA BUT THEY TOLD ME HONDA DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND THAT THEY RECALLED THE 2016 HONDA CIVICS FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE, BUT SINCE THEY DIDN'T RECALL THE 2017 HONDA CIVICS THEN THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS PROBLEM IS STRESSING ME OUT BECAUSE I CAN'T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON MY GPS OR ANSWER IMPORTANT CALLS IF NEEDED. ALSO I WENT TO AUDIO TECHS WHO TOLD ME THIS IS THE MOST BIZARRE SITUATION THEY'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I DO NOT THINK IT IS FAIR FOR ME TO PAY ALL OF THIS MONEY ON MY NEW CAR (ONLY OWNED FOR 3 MONTHS). I AM ALSO A FIRST TIME BUYER AND THIS MAKES ME REGRET EVER BUYING A CAR! THE VEHICLE IS ON FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE MESSAGE OCCURS AND THEN SHUTS OFF EVERYTHING. I EVEN GOT MY WHOLE AUDIO SYSTEM AND AMP TAKEN OUT FOR FURTHER TESTS AND NO-ONE SEEMS TO KNOW. IF YOU GUYS CAN HELP IN ANYWAY TO RECALL THE 2017 CIVICS WITH THIS ISSUE THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA, STATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER ON MY 2017 CIVIC WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO SPECIFICATION, WHICH MAY ALLOW REFRIGERANT TO LEAK OUT. THE LETTER THEN STATES IF THE A/C DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR, TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR AT NO CHARGE. HOWEVER, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE CAR UNLESS I AGREED TO PAY $330 FOR THE INSPECTION, IN CASE THE INSPECTION SHOWS THE CONDENSER IS NOT LEAKING. I FEEL THAT IF HONDA HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CONDENSER AND IF THERE IS ANY INDICATION OF A POSSIBLE FAILURE (SUCH AS THE A/C NOT BLOWING COLD AIR), HONDA SHOULD PAY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE IF THE FAULTY CONDENSER IS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. BUT HONDA REFUSES TO COVER THE INSPECTION. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU.

A/C CONDENSOR HAS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DETAILED HERE HTTPS://STATIC.NHTSA.GOV/ODI/TSBS/2019/MC-10163796-0001.PDF A/C HAS BEEN RECHARGED WITH REFRIGERANT, WHICH CONTINUES TO LEAK. THE PART HAS NO EXTERNAL IMPACT DAMAGE,!ONLY THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT TEARS. WHEN A/C HAS REFRIGERANT, A HISSING NOISE WAS NOTICED DURING A/C USE, UNTIL REFRIGERANT FULLY EMPTIED FROM THE UNIT. THERE IS ALREADY AN NHTSA DOCUMENT DETAILING EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE PART FOR HONDA CIVICS, BUT IT EXCLUDES HATCHBACKS.

AIR CONDITIONING CONTINUES TO NOT WORK RIGHT. COMPRESSOR REPLACED AND NOW A YEAR LATER SYSTEM LOOSES FREON AND BLOWS WARM AIR AGAIN. THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND HAVE THE AC UNITS REPLACED AT NO CHARGE TO CONSUMERS.
A/C STOP BLOWING COLD AIR. TOOK TO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION TURNS OUT IT IS THE EVAPORATOR HAS A LEAK. WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER IT ANYMORE. 2,200 TO REPLACE IT'S DISAPPOINTING NEWER MODEL HAVING ISSUES LIKE THESE. MY 2010 HONDA CIVIC BLOWS COLD AFTER 10 YEAR. HONDA I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR CUSTOMER THAT ARE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES, WE BELIEVED IN HONDA BUT SADLY IT IS DISAPPOINTING.

READING THROUGH THE WORLD WIDE WEB OR INTERNET, THOUSANDS, IF NOT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO A FAULTY AC CONDENSER FROM THE FACTORY. HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE CONDENSER WARRANTY BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A FULL RECALL OR WARRANTY ON THE OTHER PARTS/LABOR INVOLVED. FOR EXAMPLE, EXPENSIVE REFRIGERANTS, PARTS, AND LABOR. THE FIRST CONDENSER REPLACED IN JANUARY 2020 AND LOST ALL REFRIGERANT IN OCTOBER 2020. I TOOK MY CIVIC INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND GOT IT TESTED FOR A/C LEAKS IN SEPTEMBER 2020. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT THE CONDENSER BUT ANOTHER PART NEXT TO THE FIREWALL, COSTING 440 DOLLARS. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALERSHIP A FEW WEEKS LATER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO REFRIGERANT. I PAID OVER 300 DOLLARS TO GET THE A/C CHECKED AND THE TEST WAS DONE WITH A DYE SOLUTION THAT CAN BE SEEN BY UV LIGHT. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF LEAKS DURING THE DIAGNOSIS. THE REFRIGERANT SHOULD BE TESTED FURTHER OR HONDA SHOULD REPLACE ALL DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONING PARTS ALL AROUND. I KNOW THIS ISSUE WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR BECAUSE OF UNDERLYING PROBLEMS WITH HONDA ORIGINAL MANUFACTURED A/C PARTS. VERY RESPECTFULLY, A WORRIED PARENT
THE A/C CONDENSER LOCATED IN THE CABIN DASH WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL EARLIER IN THE YEAR FOR HAVING A FREON LEAK IN THE CABIN. 6 MONTHS LATER THE A/C IS NOT WORKING AGAIN, AND THE DEALERSHIP SUSPECTS THAT THE EVAPORATOR HAS A LEAK. RESEARCHING ONLINE YIELDED ME SIMILAR RESULTS OF OWNERS REPORTING A CONDENSER LEAK AND THEN AN EVAPORATOR LEAK WITH FREON FLOWING INTO THE CABIN AIR. I ASSUME BEING IN A CLOSED CABIN WITH LEAKING FREON IS WHAT SPURRED A RECALL ON THE CONDENSERS AND, IN MY OPINION, THE EVAPORATOR SHOULD BE IN A SIMILAR SCENARIO

I PURCHASED A 2017 CIVIC HATCHBACK EX W/ SENSING IN LATE MAY 2017. IN MAY 2020, THE AC STOPPED WORKING. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CONDENSER AND THAT THEY COULD GIVE A "GOODWILL" REPLACEMENT FOR ABOUT $350. AT THAT POINT I WAS AWARE OF THE CONDENSER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO ACCEPTED DUE TO THE COMPRESSOR BEING THE STATED ISSUE. WITH THE PANDEMIC I HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVING A LOT, BUT I NOTICED IN SEPTEMBER 2020 THAT MY AC WAS NOT WORKING AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER, AND NOW THEY SAY IT IS THE CONDENSER THAT IS BROKEN. HOWEVER, THE SB-19-091 DOES NOT APPLY TO HATCHBACKS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AS IT'S CLEAR EVEN FROM A CURSORY SEARCH THAT HATCHBACKS ARE ALSO IMPACTED. THEY OFFERED ANOTHER "GOODWILL" FIX THAT IS EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE FIRST ONE. WHEN I CALLED CORPORATE THEY INITIALLY REFUSED TO FORWARD MY CASE. IT'S SUSPICIOUS THAT THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SAID THE CONDENSER, WHICH AT THAT POINT THEY NEVER TOLD ME WAS NOT COVERED, WAS NOT LEAKING AND INSTEAD SAID THE COMPRESSOR. NOW, IT IS SUDDENLY THE CONDENSER AND IS NOT IN WARRANTY EITHER. I EXPECT IF THE CONDENSER GETS FIX SOMETHING ELSE WILL BE WRONG. HONDA NEEDS TO STOP DEFLECTING CUSTOMERS ON THIS ISSUE AND FIX THEIR CARS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT GETS VERY HOT IN MY REGION AND IT IS NOT HEALTHY TO REMAIN IN AN ENCLOSED HOT SPACE FOR HOURS AT A TIME.

I PURCHASE MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC IN NOVEMBER OF 2016. SOON AFTER ITS WARRANTY EXPIRED THE AIR CONDITIONER BEGAN GETTING WARMER AND NOT COOLING DOWN AS MUCH. THE DRIVER'S SIDE NOW BLOWS EITHER HOT OR WARM AIR AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BLOWS COOL BUT NOT COLD AIR. THE COOLEST THE AIR GETS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS IS 61F BUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT BARELY COOLS DOWN ON WARM AND HOT DAYS. THE AIR IS SUPPOSED TO BE AROUND 45F AS IT EXITS THE VENTS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT I COULD COOL THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ON HOT DAYS. DRIVING IN THE HEAT MAKES ME SLEEPY. I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED CLOSE TO $400 DOLLARS JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THE COST COULD GO UP SIGNIFICANTLY DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN SO SOON TO A NEW CAR. I HAD A 2000 CIVIC FOR 17 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE AC. I FOUND ONLINE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS DIFFICULTY. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. WITH THE AC PROBLEM THE DEFROSTER NOW DOESN'T NOT WORK AS WELL AS IT HAD DONE WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. THIS INCREASES THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE CLEAR WINDOWS ARE NECESSARY TO DRIVE SAFELY. THE DATE I ENTERED BELOW IS THE APPROXIMATE THE DATE I NOTICED THE AC WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.

VEHICLE LOST ALL 1234YF COOLANT AND WAS REPLACED ALOMG WITH A DECARB AND RE-SEAL AS WELL AS A FILL UP AND IT IS BLOWING HOTTER THAN BEFORE ONLY 1 MONTH AFTER REPAIR. I HAVE LOST APPROX 2 FULL CHARGES WORTH OF FREEON INTO THE ENVIRONMENT. IT WAS LEAK TESTED TWICE AND BOTH PLACES DID NOT FIND THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM AND IN APRIL OF 2020, HAMER HONDA INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AS I WAS BUYING OUT THE LEASE AND FOUND NO ISSUES EITHER, YET HONDA WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE OF THE DIAGNOSES. MALFUNCTION OF THE A/C SYSTEM CAN LEAD TO DAMAGE OF OTHER PARTS AS WELL AS THE FREEON LEAKING INTO THE CLOSED ENGINE BAY. WORKED FINE ONE DAY AND THE NEXT IT WAS HOT AIR. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING AND EXTREMELY HARD TO FIX PROBLEM BETWEEN THE NEW TYPE OF REFRIGERANT AND THE MISDIAGNOSES OF MULTIPLE ACCREDITED BUSINESSES. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF THE REPAIRS AS WELL BUT NOT ON MY DEVICE AT THE TIME OF THIS FILING.

I STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY A/C WITHIN 12MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE A/C WOULD BLOW HOT AIR SPORADICALLY AND WHEN I BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO LOOK INTO, THEY REPORTED THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THAT THE A/C WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THIS ISSUE WOULD CONTINUE TO HAPPEN EVERY SUMMER UP UNTIL NOW, WHERE IT HAS COMPLETELY STOP WORKING AND ONLY BLOWING OUT HOT AIR. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND MORE THAN LIKELY IT WAS THE CONDENSER OR COMPRESSOR. I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO UPWARD OF $1800 FOR THE REPAIR.

THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT IN MY CAR AROUND 40K MILES. FROM SPEAKING WITH OTHERS I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND ITS THE AC COMPRESSOR. I KNOW 3 OTHERS WITH THE SAME CAR AND ALL 3 OF THEIRS HAS WENT OUT BY 50K MILES. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW MANY MORE COMPLAINTS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR!
A/C EVAPORATOR IS LEAKING AND EXPANSION VALVE O-RINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS CAR HAS UNDER 40,000 MILES AND ALREADY REQUIRES MAJOR REPAIR ON A/C.
LEAK IN 2017 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK AC CONDENSER. HONDA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN IN 2019 FOR OTHER TRIM HONDA CIVIC LINES,BUT APPARENTLY NOT THE HATCHBACK. THE LEAKING CONDENSER WAS THE SAME PROBLEM IDENTIFIED IN SERVICE BULLETIN BUT THIS VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT IDENTIFIED. THE RECALL OR COVERED REPAIRS SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO COVER ALL TRIM LINES AND VEHICLES. HONDA ONLY COVERED 1/2 OF REPAIR COSTS. THE AC CONDENSER LEAK RESULTED IN NO AC. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO WINDSHIELD FOGGING AND VISIBILTY.

I'VE ONLY HAD MY CAR A YEAR. MY CAR HAD BEEN USING OIL FOR 2 WEEKS RECENTLY. I HAD TO PUT OIL IN IT EVERY OTHER DAY. MY MECHANIC SAID IT SHOULD NOT BE USING OIL LIKE THAT. I HAD IT INSPECTED AND IT PASSED AND HAD MY OIL CHANGED WHICH I DO EVERY 3,000-5,000 MILES. MY EMISSION CONTROL PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP (NOT WHERE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE) AND TOOK MY CAR TO THEM, BUT ON THE WAY THERE, MY CAR STARTED STALLING AND ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON MY DASHBOARD AND IT WAS SMOKING OUT OF THE BACK OF MY CAR. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT TOOK THEM TWO DAYS TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS THE TURBO CHARGER THAT NEEDED REPLACING ON MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK. THIS CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD!! I AM VERY UPSET AND HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR A YEAR! I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY $2400 ON A CAR THAT I'M STILL PAYING ON. VERY MAD AT HONDA!

AC IN MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR OR TIMES COLD AIR IN SOME OF THE VENTS AND HOT IN OTHERS
6 WEEKS AGO THE AIR CONDITIONER/WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER STOPPED WORKING IN MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC THAT I PURCHASED NEW WITH A 7 YEAR/120000 MILE WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED CONDENSER FAILURE BUT CLAIMS THEY ARE UNABLE TO OBTAIN PARTS TO PERFORM REPAIR. EVERY TIME I CALL I GET THE SAME "IN A FEW DAYS" EXCUSE.

CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVER SIDE AC BLOWING HOT AIR ALL THE TIME. INFINITE PEOPLE HAVE SAME PROBLEM DEFECTIVE FOR ALL HONDA CIVIC
THE CAR HAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE UNDER CARRIAGE COVER TO THE ENGINE SECTION. WHEN A SPEED HUMP IS ENCOUNTERED, THE UNDERCARRIAGE HITS IT AT THE SLOWEST SPEEDS. EVENTUALLY, IT WILL CAUSE DAMAGE. THE CAR HAS UNDER 11, 000 MILES AND IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER'S ATTENTION AND I AM TOLD THAT THE CAR IS LOW TO THE GROUND. IT IS A DESIGN FLAW SINCE EVERY SPEED BUMP HITS THE UNDERCARRIAGE COVER.

LANE MONITORING SYSTEM PROVIDES INCONSISTENT WARNINGS. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHILE I DRIVE THROUGH THE CITY AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAYS. IT SOMETIMES WITHOUT WARNING ADJUSTS THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. BRAKE MONITORING SYSTEM, WHEN IT DOES PROVIDE WARNING, PROVIDES WARNINGS SO LATE THAT A COLLISION WOULD BE UNAVOIDABLE. TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DOES NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE INFORMATION TO ALLOW FOR AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE OF THE DRIVER. NO FEEDBACK FROM THE CALIBRATION MODE OF THE TPMS. ONCE THE SYSTEM PROVIDES ITS FIRST ALARM, DOESN'T RESPOND WELL TO CALIBRATION. MY SYSTEM NOW ALARMS ABOUT EVERY 60-100 MILES. THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL IS SCARY. WHILE IT IS EXPECTED THAT IN ESPECIALLY HILLY TERRAIN THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD VARY A BIT (A COUPLE OF MPH EITHER DIRECTION), THE SYSTEM SOMETIMES DOES NOT ENGAGE, SOMETIMES TURNS ITSELF OFF WITHOUT WARNING, PROVIDES INCONSISTENT WARNING OF WHEN THE VEHICLE INTERVAL IS NOT MAINTAINED, BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT IT DOES NOT MAINTAIN THE SET POINT. FOR EXAMPLE YESTERDAY, ACC SET AT 42 MPH. SPEED LIMIT WAS 40 MPH. I WAS DESCENDING A HILL AND MANUALLY DISENGAGED THE ACC WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED EXCEEDED 57 MPH. SAME TRIP -- ACC SET AT 67 MPH, SPEED LIMIT AT 65 MPH; ACC DISENGAGED MANUALLY WHEN VEHICLE SPEED APPROACHED 76 MPH. THIRD INSTANCE, ACC SET AT 56 MPH, SPEED LIMIT WAS 55 MPH, ACC MANUALLY DISENGAGED AT 63 MPH. WHEN ACC FIRST ENGAGED, SPEED IS AT THE SET POINT. THEN THE SYSTEM CAN'T MAINTAIN THE SPEED AND CONSISTENTLY RUNS 1-2 MPH BELOW THE SET POINT. HENCE, ME SETTING THE ACC 1-2 MPH ABOVE THE SPEED LIMIT. BELIEVE THAT THESE ARE ALL PART OF THE HONDA SENSING SYSTEM WHICH WAS PART OF THE TOURING PACKAGE, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE. THE 2017 CR-V MODELS WITH THE SAME SYSTEM HAVE A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. HONDA WILL NOT RESPOND TO OUR INQUIRIES.

CAR IS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS OLD AND THE AIR CONDITIONING IS BLOWING HOT AIR! THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS ONLY 22832. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & THEY SAID THE CONDENSER IS DAMAGED & THE COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING DUE TO "ROAD DAMAGE". CALLED HONDA CORPORATE FOR THIS SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THEIR HONDA CIVICS 2015-2019 ABOUT A FAULTY COMPRESSOR GETTING HOLES PUNCTURED IN CAUSING THE FREON TO LEAK OUT AND THEY ALSO DENIED THE PAYMENT CLAIMING A ROCK HIT MY CAR AND CAUSED THE CONDENSER TO GET DAMAGED. CLEARLY HONDA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS FAULTY COMPRESSOR AND RECALL THE CARS OR JUST PAY FOR THE AC TO BE FIXED INSTEAD OF CHARGING CUSTOMERS $2300 TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT CAN OCCUR AGAIN! THERE ARE EVEN LAWSUITS AGAINST HONDA FOR THIS ISSUE! *TR

THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO TURN ON MY AC FOR THE SUMMER 2020 SEASON ON MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC I NOTICED THAT IT WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. I TOOK MY CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY IDENTIFIED NOT ONLY WAS MY A/C CONDENSER LEAKING FREON BUT ALSO MY A/C COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING FREON. BOTH PARTS MUST BE REPLACED. IN AUGUST 2019 , HONDA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE A/C CONDENSER AS THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS MANUFACTURED TO STANDARDS AND WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE A/C CONDENSER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN ISSUED. HOWEVER, THE A/C COMPRESS IS NOT UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR IS OUT OF THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY (3 YEARS/36,000 MILES) PERIOD BY 4,000 MILES - NOT YEARS. I LIVE IN THE MID-WEST WHERE I DON'T NEED TO USE MY CAR'S A/C OFTEN SO I HAVEN'T USED MY A/C SINCE FALL 2019 WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. SEARCHING ONLINE - THERE ARE VEHICLE OWNER COMPLAINTS ON THE A/C UNITS BECOMING DEFECTIVE DURING AND AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD OF 2016, 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CIVIC'S. THE IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE A/C COMPRESSOR, THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS $1,200. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE PARTS ARE CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK AND THAT THEY HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF CIVIC'S WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. HOW IRONIC IS IT THAT WITHIN THREE YEARS (NOT FULL THREE YEARS) MY VEHICLE'S A/C CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. HONDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED FAULT ON ONE PART BUT OTHER THE SECOND. THESE PARTS DO NOT BECOME DEFECTIVE THIS EARLY IN THE LIFE OF A VEHICLE. *TR

THE HONDA SENSING BRAKE SYSTEM SEEMS TO MORE ANNOYING THAN HELPFUL. EVEN ADJUSTING THE DIFFERENT SENSOR LENGTHS ISN'T HELPING. OFTEN, THE CAR STARTS TO BRAKE WHEN IT IS NOT NEEDED. A FEW DAYS AGO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME DECIDED TO MAKE A U-TURN AT A LEFT TURN ARROW THAT SAID NO U-TURNS. MY CAR DECIDED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES BECAUSE THEY WERE A LITTLE IN THE WAY. IT GETS WORSE: I COULD NOT OVERRIDE THE BRAKES WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PETAL TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WAY. I WAS STUCK IN PLACE FOR LONGER THAN NECESSARY. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME! I DON'T MIND IF THE SENSING SYSTEM NOTIFIES ME WITH BEEPS, BELLS, AND WHISTLES. JUST DON'T BRAKE FOR ME! *TR

I PURCHASED A 2017 HONDA CIVIC IN NOVEMBER 2017. IN AUGUST 2018 THE AC WENT OUT. (I KNOW IN AUGUST RIGHT!). THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT HONDA REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR THE O-RING. THE SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER MY CAR WARRANTY. NINE MONTHS LATER (MAY 2019) THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE A/C WENT OUT. THIS TIME THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE CONDENSER. IT IS EVEN NOTED IN THE PAPERWORK THAT THE AC IS BLOWING HOT "AGAIN". THE SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. 13 MONTHS LATER (JUNE 2020) WHILE SERVICING AN OIL CHANGE, THE HONDA SERVICE FOUND A LEAK COMING FROM THE COMPRESSOR. THIS TIME IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY, HOWEVER THROUGH HONDA CARE I WAS CHARGED A DEDUCTIBLE ($100.00). *TR

A FEW DAYS AGO, WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY, I NOTICED THE DRIVER SIDE AC STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR. THOUGHT MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS SO HOT. CHECKED THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IT WAS A BIT COOLER. COOLER THAN THE DRIVER SIDE AT LEAST. I KIND OF IGNORED IT FOR A FEW DAYS SINCE IT HADN'T BEEN SO HOT BUT TODAY I DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WARMER AIR COMPARED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE IS STILL NOT VERY COLD. THEN I REALIZED SOME FOG LIKE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE MIDDLE VENTS AFTER LIKE 2 MINUTES OF IT BEING ON. I FELT LIGHT HEADED AND KIND OF OUT OF BREATH SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT OFF AND PULLED OVER TO CATCH MY BREATH. *TR

MY VEHICLE'S AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING. WENT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY $206 TO FLUSH THE AC AND REPLACE THE FREON WITH DYE. APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS LATER THE A/C STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. WENT BACK TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE LEAK THEY STATE IS DUE TO THE A/C COMPRESSOR LEAKING. HONDA PROVIDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CONDENSER BECAUSE THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DEFECTIVE CONDENSERS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY WILL NOT COVER BECAUSE IT IS THE COMPRESSOR, NOT THE CONDENSER. IT APPEARS HONDA HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH ALL COMPONENTS OF THE A/C OF THESE CARS. THEY WON'T COVER THIS AS I ONLY HAVE 46K MILES ON VEHICLE AND WANT TO CHARGE $2,049.00 TO REPLACE. IN MY OPINION, THE A/C SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND ALL PARTS SHOULD BE COVERED. *TR

2017 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK SPORT, AC CONDENSER UNIT WENT BAD. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA'S HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY MODEL/TRIM IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION EVEN THOUGH THE CONDENSER IS OBVIOUSLY BAD.

THERE IS ALREADY A TSB FOR MY ISSUE. REFERENCING TSB 19-091 IT STATES THAT ALL CIVICS OF ALL TYPES OF TRIM FOR THE YEARS 2016-2018 ARE APPLICABLE FOR A RECALL. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE HATCHBACK MODELS? THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR SOMETHING FAILING THAT SHOULD BE WORKING OUT OF THE FACTORY AND KEEP WORKING. 50K MILES ON MY VEHICLE.

2017 HONDA CIVIC AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED AND IS LEAKING. THE CONDENSER IS LEAKING, WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IS BEING COVERED BY HONDA, HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE COMPRESSOR EVEN THOUGH THE LEAK IN THE CONDENSER CAN EASILY LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE COMPRESSOR.

VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD AND WE ARE DEALING WITH A PERSISTENT, NON-FUNCTIONING AC SYSTEM THAT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THESE HONDA CIVICS. HONDA CORPORATE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM, LEAVING THE CONSUMER WITH A $2500 REPAIR BILL, THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE A LONG TERM FIX, ON A NEW CAR. WE LIVE IN FL AND NOT HAVING TEMPERATURE CONTROL IS DANGEROUS.
THE AC VENTS STARTED TO MAKE CLICKING NOISES AS SOMETHING WAS INSIDE OF THE VENT. THEN, THE AC UNIT WOULD BLOW HOT AIR ON ONE SIDE OF THE CABIN AND MODERATELY COLD ON THE OTHER. TWO DAYS LATER THE VENTS WOULD BLOW HOT AIR ON THE HOTTEST SETTING. AFTER GETTING THE UNIT AND CAR CHECKED OUT, THE AC COMPRESSOR WAS CRACKED. THE CAR IS WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HASN'T BEEN THROUGH ANY ACCIDENTS SO FOR IT TO CRACK IS VERY STRANGE. LOOKING UP FORMS, MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. MULTIPLE VEHICLES ACROSS MULTIPLE STATES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE HAPPEN AROUND 37-42,000 MILES. AFTER BRINING THIS UP TO HONDA CORPORATE, THEY STATED THE CONDENSER WILL HAVE A RECALL, BUT THE COMPRESSOR IS OKAY WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE USING OUTSIDE SERVICES TO FIX THEIR VEHICLES AND HONDA WILL NOT RECALL THE PART. THEY PRODUCED A BAD BATCH OF PARTS THAT WERE PLACED ON THEIR CARS AND NOW WANT THE OWNERS TO PAY FOR IT INSTEAD OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE.

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY NAVIGATION SYSTEM WHEN I PLUG IN MY PHONE INTO THE JACK IN THE CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN MY VEHICLE TO MY HONDA DEALER AND THEY WITNESSED MY VEHICLE ACTUALLY REMOVE MY PHONE AND REPLACE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S PHONE IN MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE PHONE ALSO EVEN THOUGH I HAVE MY BLUETOOTH ON MY I PHONE AND IT WILL NOT PAIR WITH MY VEHICLE AS WELL NUMEROUS TIMES. THE TECH AT HONDA STATED TO ME IT IS AS IF SOMEONE ELSE IS CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE THROUGH YOUR RADIO FREQUENCY. MY CAR HAS BEEN UNLOCKED AT TIMES. ETC. I ASKED HOW THIS CAN OCCUR AND HE STATED IF SOMEONE HAS YOUR RADIO ID OR YOUR KEY FOB NUMBERS. THIS IS STILL OCCURRING EVEN THOUGH HONDA RE SET THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND SETTINGS TO FACTORY DEFAULT. NOW MY TRUNK WILL NOT STAY CLOSED IF SOMETHING IS IN THE TRUNK. HAPPENS AT ALL TIMES IN MOTION, STAYING STILL.

I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON JULY 6 BECAUSE THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT A/C IN THIS HEAT AND HUMIDITY. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE CONDENSER HAD FAILED AND THAT MANY 2016 AND 2017 HONDA HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE PART IS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET THE PART. I OPENED A CASE WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE OVER 3000 CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY, 7/19, THEIR BEST ESTIMATE IS THAT THEY MAY HAVE THE PART ON 7/25. NO GUARANTEE. MY CAR WILL BE OUT OF SERVICE FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS AT THE LEAST. MORE IMPORTANTLY, MANY OF THESE CARS ARE BEING DRIVEN IN THIS HEAT ,WITHOUT A/C, WHICH IS DEFINITELY AN UNSAFE CONDITION.

I BROUGHT MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC IN FEB/2019. MY AC HAS NOT BEEN USED SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR UNTIL IT GOT REALLY HOT WHERE I LIVE THIS MONTH. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE COMPRESSOR IS DAMAGED BECAUSE ROCKS FROM THE HIGHWAY HAS BEEN HITTING AGAINST IT. I EXPLAINED THAT I DON'T KNOW IF THE AC WAS WORKING FROM THE BEGINNING AND THAT THE CAR IS SO LOW TO THE GROUND THAT IT IS TO EXPECTED FOR ROCKS TO HIT UNDER THE CAR. THEY THEN TELL ME THAT IT WILL COST 1200 FOR ME TO GET IT FIXED. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND FAST BECAUSE IT IS VERY HOT.

THE A/C STOPPED WORKING AT 2 YEARS, 4 MONTHS, BUT AS I AM AT 41,000 MILES, IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I NOTICED IT WHEN DRIVING ON SATURDAY, 6/29/19 THAT THE A/C WAS NO LONGER BLOWING COLD AIR; THIS WAS ON A DAY WHERE THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS 99 IN NORTH CAROLINA. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATES THAT THE THERE ARE BAD SEALS ON THE COMPRESSOR. THEY HAVE QUOTED ME $2,100 TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR AND ADD FREON TO IT. I HAVE SEEN MANY HONDA OWNERS (2016-2017) COMPLAIN OF THIS ISSUE AND AM WONDERING IF THERE'S ANY WAY TO FORCE HONDA TO PAY FOR THESE BAD COMPRESSORS?

PURCHASED 2017 HONDA CIVIC NEW FROM DEALERSHIP WITH STANDARD NEW CAR WARRANTY. AT 41,000 MILES AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING. BROUGH VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD NEW COMPRESSOR WAS NEEDED AND REPAIR WOULD COST $986 + TAX. BOUGHT VEHICLE BECAUSE OF REPUTATION FOR RELIABILITY. SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND DEALERSHIP EVEN ADMITTED THAT THERE HAS BEEN A SEVERE PROBLEM WITH AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSORS FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MAKE VEHICLE. AFTER SEARCHING INTERNET FOR INFORMATION I CAME TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS TRUE AND WONDERED HOW MANY OTHER CONSUMERS WERE FACED WITH THE SAME TYPE REPAIR COSTING OVER $1,000? HAVE GONE INSIDE OUR HOME ONLY TO COME OUT IN THE MORNING TO FIND THE TRUNK OPEN. JUST RECENTLY, IN THE LAST WEEK OF MARCH 2019, THE HONDA DEALER HAD THE CAR AGAIN AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEN ON SUNDAY, MARCH 31, 2019, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. WE BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN UNDER-REPORTED PROBLEM AS SOME OWNERS MAY THINK THEY ACCIDENTLY ACTIVATED THE REMOTE KEY FOB. THIS PROBLEM HAS SHOWN UP IN THE HONDA CIVIC OWNERS FORUM ON CIVICX.COM.

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUE WITH THE A/C FOR A COUPLE OF WEEK. TWO DAY AGO MY A/C STOP WORKING SO I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO MY CAR HAVING 41K MILES. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT THE CAR IS ONLY A YEAR OLD. THEY (DEALERSHIP) DID NOT WANT TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO THE MILES. THE REPAIR COST WAS $1,500. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT SEVERAL BUYER HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER ALSO MENTION THAT THEY HAVE BEEN RECEIVING A LOT OF CARS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE. ALSO, I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE A/C TRIGGERED SOMETHING IN MY VEHICLE THAT WOULD NOT LET IT START FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE CAR WAS PARKED WHEN THIS OCCURRED. AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT (THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING THERE ALL DAY), I HEARD A CRACKLING SOUND AND NOISE COMING OUT OF THE ROOFTOP. I STOPPED RIGHT AWAY, GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE A BIG HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE MOONROOF GLASS PANEL. THE GLASS FELL ON THE ON THE INSIDE ROOF SLIDER (WHICH LUCKILY WAS CLOSED). THE MOONROOF GLASS PANEL WAS INTACT AND NOT DAMAGED FROM THE PRIOR DRIVE. HONDA CIVICS FROM 2015 ON APPEAR TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL, IN PARTICULAR THE SENSOR FOR THE TRUNK. THE PARTICULAR CAR IN QUESTION IS A 2017 HONDA CIVIC. EXTREME SENSITIVITY RESULTS IN THE SLIGHTEST PRESSURE, WITHOUT THE OWNER BEING AWARE, ACTIVATING THE CAR TRUNK, AND THE TRUNK WILL OPEN AND REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE OWNER OR SOMEONE CLOSES IT. A TRUNK THAT OPENS RANDOMLY AND NOT BY DELIBERATE ACTION IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY FACTOR AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. DEALERS, SERVICE PEOPLE, AND THE AUTO MAKER ITSELF HAVE ALL DENIED THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS AND THAT IF IT DOES EXIST IT CANNOT BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE IT IS THE OWNER'S ACTION THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. THERE HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A SUGGESTION OR ADVICE AS TO HOW TO DEAL WITH AN OVERLY SENSITIVE REMOTE OR A RANDOMLY OPENING TRUNK. A CAR REMOTE CONTROL WHICH WILL ACTIVATE AN ACTION JUST BY A MERE ACCIDENTAL TOUCH, IS AN INCONVENIENCE AT BEST, AND AT WORST, A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED. A CAR WITH AN OPEN TRUNK CAN LEAD TO SITUATIONS WHICH CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, AND NOT ACCEPTABLE IN ANY WAY. I AM HOPING FOR SOME ACTION ON THE PART OF THE CARMAKER AND THE AUTO COMPANY, AS I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT TO DO AND HAVE FAILED TO RECEIVE ANY ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE FROM THOSE WHOM I HAVE CONTACTED. ALTHOUGH ONE PARTICULAR DATE HAS BEEN PROVIDED BELOW FOR THIS EVENT HAPPENING, IT HAS HAPPENED OVER 10 TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE AND CAN HAPPEN RANDOMLY AT ANY TIME.

I PURCHASED A NEW HONDA CIVIC ON JANUARY 7, 2017. PREVIOUSLY MY NEW CAR DID NOT WANT TO START ON 1/28/17. 21 DAYS AFTER MY NEW PURCHASE. I HAD THE SAME TROUBLE AGAIN WHEN MY NEW CAR DID NOT WANT TO START ON 4/29/17 AT 5:20PM. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AT 1-866-864-5211 AND THEY SAID A TOW TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE AT 6PM. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP AT 6PM. AT 6PM I RECEIVED A TEXT THAT A TOW TRUCK WOULD SHOW UP AT 6:45PM. IT WAS VERY HOT AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO SUFFER FROM A HEAT STROKE. AFTER MANY TRIES, MY CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED AT 6:15PM. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS CAR. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 5/1/17 TO CLAWSON IN FRESNO, CA. I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY RENTALS AND THEY WOULD CALL ME ON 5/2/17. THEY DID NOT CALL ME ON 5/2/17. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 5/2/17 AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY RENTAL CARS. I CALLED HONDA CORPORATE AT 1-800-999-1009 AND CLAWSON HONDA AUTHORIZED A RENTAL CAR FOR ONE DAY.
MY NEW CAR WILL LET YOU TURN OFF (PUSH BUTTON) AND GET OUT AND WALK AWAY WHILE STILL BEING IN GEAR. I EXITED MY VEHICLE IN THIS SITUATION AND IT ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVE AND HIT A TREE. IT WAS 3 FEET FROM ROLLING INTO A HIGHWAY THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. OLDER CARS YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR WITHOUT SOME OTHER SAFETY FEATURE TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING.
