The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the steering wheel felt sticky upon turning the steering wheel in either direction, and the steering wheel required excessive force to return to the center. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no assistance was provided. A couple of months or so ago...summertime maybe I started feeling a choppy feeling in the steering almost like lane correction was enable but it wasn't. I started seeing posting about sticky steering and that's what it feels like. It's mostly noticeable out on the highway but sometimes on 40 mph zones. I've emailed the dealer about it to see if it can be covered. Mine is a 2019 so it's not included in the recall for 2022-2024. I really hope I don't have to pay for this out of pocket.

While the vehicle is powered on, rapid or quick input to the steering wheel will cause sudden loss of power. The electrical system and engine will power off. I am experiencing issues with my infotainment screen and my window switches as a result of continued power loss. I am able to reproduce the problem any time I turn the steering wheel quickly. The vehicle has gone in for its state mandatory inspection at the dealer, but not for the steering. There is no warning light prior to the sudden power loss, but my car's electrical system has to re-initialize. The battery is brand new and does not show signs of low voltage while idle. The vehicle will power off while driving, reversing and in neutral.

I purchased a 2019 Honda Civic LX July 3rd 2025 I noticed that the steering front end didn't feel right so I brought it back they still to this day the dealership has the car I cannot drive it on the highway because the steering goes to the left goes to the right I have to keep two hands on the wheel I came close to hitting a tractor trailer cannot drive over 50 mph without it being out of control right now it's at Honda dealership and they're saying they're not sure what's wrong after seeing all the complaints I notified them that I felt that's what the problem was the steering box rack I do not feel safe or trust this car I'm trying to get the dealer to buy the car back

When driving at highway speeds steering sticks. Steering wheel does not move without more effort than usual. Being unable to make small adjustments freely means I must constantly drive with two hands in order to drive straight forward. When I noticed this I searched Honda recalls and found the exact same issue is being recalled for later models. This is a safety related issue because it prevents me from centering the vehicle in the lane.

The vehicle steering wheel feels stuck in position while driving, it releases the initial sticking feeling when I force the turn and it continues to feel stuck in place every time the steering doesn’t turn to either side and I try to turn again it requires extra force to release the stuck in place feeling. I took to dealership and asked if there was a recall and they told me only on newer models but not on my car model. The initial steering stuck in place causes delay when I need to steer quickly in traffic, I believe t’s a safety concern. My car only has 39137 miles on the odometer.

Steering is sticking similar to other model recalls. Increased friction, will stick in turn and not automatically release , you have to manually turn it back. Taken it to two mechanics who have notified us of recalls with the same issue. Is currently at North Park Honda and is attempting to bill my insurance. My son starts college this year and we're worried it may cause an accident.

My steering is "sticky" and is difficult to control. It's concerning for me and my passengers, as well as others on the road. I researched what "sticky" steering could mean, and I found Honda has an active recall for this exact issue; however, my 2019 isn't included. I visited a local Honda dealership (Tameron Honda in Birmingham, AL), and they confirmed that my vehicle needs an electric rack to fix my steering issue. However, American Honda will not replace it. Honda knows this is an issue but is refusing to take care of it, putting the safety of myself and all other drivers on the road at risk.

The steering on my 2019 Honda Civic has gotten progressively "sticky" when driving at all speeds but it is worse at highway speeds (50-75 mph). I have experienced several close calls lately when the steering wheel sticks when turning into a highway curve and causes my car to veer into the oncoming traffic lane. I took my vehicle into the local Honda dealer service department and they told me they would have to replace the entire steering gearbox at a cost of $4,250.00 due to a manufacturing defect. They said my car is out of warranty range at 54258 miles and there is no recall from Honda to pay the repair cost. I cannot afford that excessive cost and now am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle.

When driving on the highway (over 40mph) the steering wheel sticks making small corrections difficult. It feels like once the steering wheel is left in an orientation for more than 1 second something grabs the steering column and holds it. I’m sure it’s supposed to be a “feature” but it causes me to have to put in effort to make the small driving corrections and they end up looking like I’m swerving inside my lane.

Steering began to "stick", especially at highway speeds and when trying to keep car centered in lane, causing frequent overcorrection and difficulty maintaining lane control. No warning lights, messages, etc. Dealership confirmed and the diagnosis was that the motor powering electric power steering was faulty and steering rack needed to be replaced. First noticed the issue during summer of 2024, became progressively worse, dealership diagnosed and repaired in May 2025.

Since April of 2024, my steering has been sticking when making the slightest of turns. It has progressively gotten worse. I initially thought that I needed power steering fluid but that did not correct the issue. This sticky causes my vehicle to veer to the left and right abruptly into other lanes. I am fighting to keep the vehicle straight. I can hear the sticking noise constantly due to the lack of lubrication in the steering gearbox. I am fearful that I may cause an accident and injure myself or others when driving and I would like assistance in having the dealership correct this issue. This issue also causes the sensors for my ABS, Adaptive Cruise control, lane departure etc to malfunction and alarm.

Jerking/sticky steering issue. I have heard many other drivers discuss the same with 2016-2023 Civics. Essentially anytime when I am driving, my car may jerk any direction and I have to re-adjust. This makes driving EXTREMELY dangerous. I have noticed similarly to other drivers that whenever my steering jerks in one direction when I turn it back, it makes a knocking noise (like knocking on wood). Very concerned about this issue as I don’t have any money to fix it.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the electric steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that whenever the steering wheel was turned to the left or right there was a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who stated that the steering wheel was sticking and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The steering rack has failed due to a manufacturing defect. This is also an issue with the newer civics as Honda has admitted. This problem was confirmed by an independent service center. It can be dangerous at higher speeds, the steering wheel is difficult to turn and I have to jerk it to regain control of the vehicle. Going around bends is also difficult to maintain control since it is very difficult to make precise movements of the steering. No warning lamps or messages at the time of failure.

At the time of sale, the dealership concealed critical safety-related information, including three major prior damage events (roof, front, rear), multiple Illinois auction sales, and pre-installed aftermarket suspension modifications that prevented proper rear alignment. No disclosures were made. After purchase, I was referred to Zeigler Honda of Racine, where a certified Honda technician confirmed the vehicle could not be aligned due to these undisclosed modifications, and would soon become unsafe to drive. Improper rear alignment creates risks of unpredictable handling, tire failure, and catastrophic loss of control. Zeigler Honda attempted to discreetly order parts without warranty company knowledge and failed to document inspection results or service records, indicating concealment efforts. Zeigler Auto Group operates 84 franchises across 41 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and reports annual sales exceeding $2.2 billion. Given their size and multi-state operations, systemic concealment of structural and mechanical safety defects by affiliated dealerships poses a significant public safety threat across state lines. I have submitted complaints to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, DATCP, WisDOT, FTC, BBB, Honda Corporate, and the Illinois Attorney General. Given the severity of the defects, concealment, and Zeigler’s multi-state reach, I respectfully request NHTSA investigate Zeigler Auto Group for patterns of selling unsafe vehicles without proper disclosure. Dealer has diagnosed and quoted $6,000 to repair. This is ridiculous, to rob customers on the repair of an obvious issue. Recall is needed for all models with this same steering system. I can’t recall the exact mileage or the date, but I started having this issues but I’d say around 40-45K miles I started having what I’ve heard been called “sticky steering” when driving down the road the steering wheel almost gets a stuck feeling and I have to try and correct it back center, it mostly will try to pull towards the left side and I have to pull it back to the center. It does seem like it is stuck sometimes but I am able to correct it. It does this when I am driving at higher speeds probably anything above 45 mph. It can be scary driving long distances because I’m always having to use both hands on the wheel to try and control the wheel. I’ve also heard that it makes a “popping” sound when Turing the wheel all the way to one side mostly when backing up. I have reached out to a dealership before and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. I did not feel comfortable taking it to the dealership to spend all this money on something they did not know about. I’ve seen where there actually is a recall for this exact issue I’m having but it’s only for 22-23 models. I’m asking that this becomes one for the 19 or any other civic because this seems to be a serious issue. I fear that one day it will get bad enough to where I am not able to control my wheel and get into a crash. It has gotten worse as the miles go on.

Steering sticks in certain position to the left and has to be forcefully reentered (there's also a clunking noise that the steering makes when this problem occurs). Problem began about a year ago and I have taken vehicle in to be repaired multiple times. I believed it was a tire issue at first, however, after a few weeks ago I was assured that the tires was not the problem. This feature is incredibly dangerous as when wheel is forcefully recentered sometimes you haev to overadjust and you might almost hit someone near you. Extremely dangerous and I hope you guys take this issue seriously. I have visited many other threads and I see that in the state of florida alone theres about 10 other people who have the SAME EXACT issue.

So when I’m driving some would call it sticky steering where I have to correct the steering constantly this happens at slow speeds and way more noticeable and scary at fast speeds like I don’t even want to take it on freeway I have gotten a couple alignments done like 6 to many they say it’s spot on so why does my steering still have an issue.i don’t even have to move the wheel I can slightly move it left or right and it’s swinging that way bumps and bad roads are also the same i basically can’t drive straight and I don’t know why it’s never had the issue before I say till bout 70 or 80 k miles I’ve took it to Honda and they said there’s no way to fix it unless the whole camber or rack was replaced probably both I have kids and have to commute on a busy road I’ve almost hit people because the car can’t stay straight also when pressing on the breaks it will steer in either direction and have to fix that as well

When driving on local streets under 40mph steering sticks in position and has to be forcefully recentered. It also makes a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. At highway speeds when making slight adjustments steering wheel sticks, causing me to overcorrect which in turn jerks the car back and forth. This issue starts after driving the car for about 10-15mins. I have tried numerous DIY solutions such as turning off Lane Assist etc. I will be taking the car to Honda soon. This has been going on for about a year now.

The steering is "sticky" leading to ever-changing steering effort. At times, so much force has to be applied that overcorrection occurs. It decreases the safety margin when driving and applying corrective steering to prevent lane departure or collision. Luckily, I have not had any accidents occur yet. Still, I can easily imagine that it contributes to a collision if and when the margin for an accident is sufficiently narrowed. There are no warning lights or messages provided by the car for this issue. When I asked Honda about the issue, they said I would have to pay a fee to even have the vehicle looked at. They also stated that it would cost over $3000 to fix it. They said that they could not replace it for free because it was not under warranty and there was no recall for the issue, just a TSB. I am surprised that this is still not a recall given how apparent a safety risk it is. Frequently I have to jerk the wheel for it to break free and respond to steering input. Unfortunately, Honda is not being more proactive about replacing this component. Please let me know what else I can do to help progress this to a recall. Thank you

Some how my steering wheel is crooked, so while going straight, my wheel is around 2 or 3 inches to the left. If I turn it all the way, in either direction the wheel will click, click, click back, moving back the opposite direction with every click. I've changed both front CV axles, sway bar links, brakes, all 4 tires, bought 2 rims so far. Still having issues. Also makes a cluck sound while braking. stalls while stopping and going a lot. Had fuel recalls done already. When a car is coming have to hit the gas pedal to the floor to get it to go. Almost killed me once while automatically braking while switching lanes. There was an 18 Wheeler in front of me to start off with, I turned my signal on to get over in the lane beside of me, which had another 18 wheeler coming a way back. Once I got over the brakes automatically locked down due to sensing the the truck in the other lane. Every since then I keep that feature off. I wouldn't trade her for anything, it's been a wild ride and she keeps me on my toes. Literally. 120,000, 1 owner, 6 years March 2025!

I was driving straight going 35mph on a 2 lane rd when my steering wheel starting making a weird noise & almost was shaking. The steering wheel then locked up to the left & wouldn’t move. This caused my driver side tire to go into the curb, & at this point my steering wheel was spinning in circles & all I could do was brake. After bumping off the curb I then was thrusted back over to the right lane (due to having no steering control) where I came to a stop grazing another vehicle. My insurance performed diagnostics on the vehicle & determined the steering rack housing assembly part failed, causing the accident. There was no damage at all to the vehicle that would indicate this part was damaged as result of the incident, therefore they are calling it “pre existing damage” even though Honda did a multipoint inspection on my car 08/03/2024 (not even a whole 3 months prior) that did not mention a single steering problem. It was ultimately determined this failure is what caused the incident. Upon further research I have found millions of Civics are recalled for this issue but not my year of the vehicle. However, I have found countless stories exactly like mine with steering failure all regarding the 2019 Honda Civic. I am now without a vehicle, insurance refused to pay for the failed part, and I have reached out to Honda over 10 times trying to get in contact with someone about this to no avail. I truly was terrified for my life and feel this needs to be addressed because as previously mentioned, there are countless other 2019 Honda Civic owners with the same horrifying stories. This puts not only owners at risk but all other drivers.

The steering on my 2019 Civic is sticky when making small adjustments to the left and right while driving at both high and low speeds. There is a creaking like noise when turning the wheel to the right while accelerating and while stationary. The stickiness of the steering wheel while driving makes controlling the vehicle difficult. The stickiness of the steering wheel also makes adjustments while driving dangerous as the car jerks to whatever side I am trying to move toward due to the stickiness of the wheel. This issue has been confirmed and recalled in Honda Civics from 2022- onward, but it appears that this recalled issue is occurring in older models, such as my 2019 Civic. No warning lights or messages occurred before this issue. My vehicle was brought to the Honda dealership where they were able to replicate the same noise and stickiness. The CV axle and sway bar links were replaced, but that did not fix the issue. The mechanic stated that the steering rack could need to be replaced as this was a common issue with Honda Civics.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while her husband was attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle was started after three attempts. The contact stated that her husband was not aware of any warning lights. The contact stated that the start-up failure was intermittent but was occurring at different times of the day. Additionally, the contact stated that her husband had reported that the vehicle was losing power steering functionality. The contact stated that her husband reported that the failure was intermittent and occurred at various speeds. The contact stated that her husband became aware that the check engine and battery warning lights had illuminated. There is a wide majority of Honda owners with cars ranging from 2016-2022 all reporting the same issue of steering sticking resulting in overcorrecting and crashing your car. My 2019 civic today tried to kill me by locking the steering while driving down the highway with a construction wall that the car jerked into. The dealer responded to a request for information about this issue by telling me it will be a $200 diagnostic fee before I can the told anything and that recalls are all they can talk to me about without the fee. The steering system on our 2019 Honda Civic "sticks" when operating the car. When driving on the interstate, even a small adjustment to stay in one's lane requires a significant force. This causes the car to over-correct once the steering breaks free. At times the force is so high that the lane keeping assist system (LKAS) feature is unable to provide the necessary force to make the correction. Also, when at high speed going around a curve (like on a flyover ramp going from one interstate to another), the wheel is very difficult to move. Typically, a car's steering will tend to move back towards driving straight. This tendency doesn't happen at all. If I don't return the car to straight with significant force, the car will continue the curve and would eventually drive off the road. The steering has been inspected by Honda technicians and they recommend replacing steering gearbox and tie rods. The car has 65,000 miles on it and replacing the steering at this age seems irregular. While I have the latest date I drove the car listed, this is a persistent problem and has been an issue for several months.

When making a left turn/curving left or even driving straight on the highway the steering wheel is sticking and or gets stuck turning left. To get out of the stuck portion of the steering wheel requires extra force that feels very unsafe as it pops or jolts. This is very unsafe because while in a left turn when the steering gets stuck instead of naturally straightening, an overcorrection in steering is made when it pops/jolts out of the sticky spots. This a constant issue having to fight the steering wheel driving straight down the freeway, and is quite scary during or coming out of a left turn. When parked or not moving the problem still occurs. My safety and others is put at risk when the sub average driver is unable to make the proper adjustments when the steering gets stuck causing me or whomever driving this car to veer into whatever the steering wheel is stuck pointing at. The problem has been reproduced. NO warning lamps or messages have appeared. I recall this starting about 6 months ago.

Steering wheel sticks with left turn. Once on the Highway the steering wheel is tough to bring back straight requiring constant micro readjustments even when going straight. When bringing the steering wheel back to the center from a left turn at slow and highway speed, the steering wheel clicks, notches, and catches making my car unsafe to drive on the highway especially.

Steering has a “sticky” feeling. Similar to recall on 22-24 civics. Steering wheel will get stuck in a long turn and require extra force to correct back to center, leading to swerving into other lanes of traffic leading to accident/injuries. Seal in Steering Rack and Pinion fails, creating suction in a turn and leads to stuck steering. Problem confirmed by dealer on car with 63k miles, denied as warranty or tsb. Over $4,000 quoted to replace. No warning lamps or messages displayed. Will lead to accidents and or injuries.

1. Steering component is malfunctioning. It is available for inspection. 2. Difficulty steering on highway speeds and simple and minor adjustments causes sticky steering, which I have to add force every time to keep my vehicle in a straight line. 3. I have not yet brought the issue to a dealership, but I will have the vehicle inspected to further identify the issue. The problem has been an issue with other civic models as well. 4. The steering sticks in a center spot while driving. You have to really pull on steering wheel which causes it to oversteer and is very dangerous especially in curves. This happens everytime the car is driven on high speed about 50 miles per hour. This issues happened since 6 months ago, I noticed It gets more sticky. My car has 45,218 miles now. It shouldn't occur this issues at this mileage. I checked Honda recall has same issues of 2022~2023 Honda civic. I believed they used same steering rack with same issues.

During warming months, especially when driving at highway speeds, the steering becomes "sticky" and creaks when turning the wheel left and right. This issue has been noted in the 11th generation civics with a recall issued, as well as 2016-2018 Civics. The 2019 also suffers from this same issue but no recall has been issued to date. This problem creates an unsafe driving environment where I feel like I could lose control of my vehicle on the highway. I have brought it to the attention of my local dealership many times with no resolve. They suggested an EPS steering rack placement with an out-of-warranty repair (Almost $3500). Communication with Corporate Honda found no sufficient proof there is an issue repairable due to manufacturer defects.

I have a 2019 Honda Civic and I am experiencing “sticky steering” in which there is already a recall for in the new models. I took the car to the nearest dealership and the problem was diagnosed and the replacement procedure and part is the same as the newer models. The dealership informed me there is no recall for my car even though there have been multiple cases. It is very unsafe while driving on highways or interstates and has almost caused accidents.

Steering wheel sticks on left turns, has been doing this for a while and Honda dealer can’t find issue. On highway, in turns, parked as well. Forums show plenty of others with this issue on their civics equipped with Honda Sensing years 2016-2024+. One had a steering rack replaced under warranty. When making a left turn or curving left the steering wheel is sticking. If not slightly jerked then the steering wheel will remain in the left position. When holding the break, not in park, and turn the steering wheel you can hear a pop- the sticky releasing. It is unsafe. Steering get sticky and jerky after driving for 15-20 minutes. The steering wheel seems to get stuck for a second and then trying to slightly correct, jerks the vehicle around in the lane. It feels like there are notches in the steering. This is a safety issue because you could overcorrect and get jerked into another lane of traffic. No warning lamps. The issues started just under 50,000 miles.

Over the past month or so, I've noticed the steering started to feel "off," a bit sticky in the sense that it was a little jerky to maneuver even within the same lane or when making a slight turn of the wheel, like coming off a highway ramp. The car was taken to be checked and it was found to have an issue with the rack & pinion. A warranty inspector confirmed it qualifies for the rack & pinion replacement, so as of today (January 22, 2024), my car is in the dealership waiting for the part, which is on critical back order with an unknown ETA.

Vehicle exhibits difficulty when applying steering input at highway speeds. Even when Lane Keep Assist, and other Honda Sensing features are disabled, the vehicle's steering wheel doesn't automatically center itself, and instead will maintain steering angle through corners. It also has a sticky or notchy feeling when driving straight on a straight highway. When this is occurring, fine steering inputs are hard to make, and keeping the vehicle centered in the lane becomes difficult.

I just purchased my used 2019 Honda Civic LX a few weeks ago. Online forums warned me of a "sticking" steering wheel and I've noticed they're right. It occurs most often (or is most noticeable) when traveling straight at highway speeds. It seems that the steering wheel "sticks" when no turning input is given for a short time. Eventually, when a steering correction to the left or right is needed by the driver, it is met with a wheel that doesn't want to turn and requires a little extra effort to move the steering wheel off center. The result of the sticking causes the car to over-respond slightly to the left or right input and needs to be re-corrected. This appears to be a known issue for the 10th generation (2016-2021) Civics according to online user forums. I could see where a vehicle having a more severe case of this than my vehicle could pose a serious safety concern. My wife noticed it and it took her by surprise. Recently I saw a similar issue getting attention for the 11th generation (2022-present) Civics and wanted to report mine as having similar symptoms, but in the previous generation body style. The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and exiting a highway, the steering wheel became firm without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed at the dealer. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Potential steering issues. Steering will randomly "stick", at around 60+ mph if not prepared driver could over react and thus be in an accident or cause one. The "stick" is very subtle and slight. As I am aware of it I easily corrected by bringing it back in alignment. Mechanic has performed diagnostic scan and nothing was revealed w/ the power steering. I do see that NHTSA is investigating similar issues w/ 2022 and 2023 Honda Civics. All statements are exactly as I am experiencing only my vehicle is a 2019 Honda Civic. This has been occurring for the passed couple of months. I have about 53k miles on my vehicle.

The steering sticks and it’s not smooth at speeds ranging from 35 to 75 mph. It tends to become worse as the car gets warmed up. The steering wheel stick so bad that if you remove your hands from the steering wheel, it will stay in the turn, until you physically turn the wheel the opposite way. it is a very dangerous condition. This has been brought to the attention of our local Honda dealer many times. They continually say they cannot find anything wrong with the car.

Once the car gets above 50MPH the steering feels sticky or notchy, like the wheels are stuck in a rut, and it stays that way at any speed until shut off. It's impossible to keep the car centered in the lane as the slightest turn of the wheel in either direction is too much, and so you turn the wheel in the other direction to compensate and then that's too much. The car feels entirely unsafe, especially on the highway. It was especially nerve racking with a semi in the next lane. There were no warning lights or codes. The car was taken to the local Honda dealership and the technician confirmed the steering problem, searched the tech line forums and found multiple cases with similar complaints. Replacement of the steering rack was recommended.

I was pulling into a gas station when errors started scrolling on the dash, pretty much all of the driver assist options were failing then the power steering error came up and it was almost impossible for me to turn the wheel, luckily I was going slow. Had it towed to a service station and they could not even find out what the codes that were reported meant. So I had it towed to the Honda dealership, they expected rodent damage but found none and neither did the service station. Honda then said it was the battery, but the car started great without even a second of hesitation so I was not sure how it could be the battery. They replaced the battery and said it was fixed $385.00 later. Less than 24hrs later, only about 2 hours of drive time, same issue except this time I was driving on a main road at 50MPH.. I barely managed to slow down and pull over before the steering went out again. I am not confident that the dealership is even going to be able to fix the issue since they thought changing the battery was going to fix it! They are just guessing and to lose the ability to steer my car while driving is a severe safety hazard. I guess I will have to replace the car, only 3 yrs old but OOW, as I will not feel confident it will be safe to drive in the future even if the dealership says they fixed it again. It obviously was not fixed this time!

I turned on my vehicle and randomly had multiple warning lights come on including power steering, ACC, VSA, Hill start assist, LKAS, ABS. The power steering completely went out completely randomly but the power steering fluid is full. Two weeks ago I had my fuel pump recalled and now I have these issues. Valley Hi Honda in Victorville CA has not returned my calls and has been absolutely no help. If I had been driving there would be a good chance I would have crashed as I would have been unable to navigate a turn.

The rack and pinion was failing. It caused problems with the steering causing unsafe driving conditions. I took the car to Honda and they said the rack and pinion was bad. I did contact Honda headquarters and they claimed there was nothing they could do about it since the car was out of warranty. I had this part replaced by an independent auto mechanic. They said the auto part store said they have been receiving orders for the rack and pinion at a rate of 5 per month. Considering how many parts store there are, this seem to be an unusual amount of a part failing. I have seen many complaints online about this part failing on Honda cars. This part should not fail especially at low milage. My car does have 65,000 miles on it, but the conditions started about 30,000 miles ago. I was unaware of what was happening back at the beginning, I knew something was wrong, but I didn't realize what, and it just got worse as time went on.

The power steering didn't work. There were warning messages displayed for Tire Pressure Monitor Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem when turning the car on. This condition was verified by the dealer on both occurrences. First occurrence was 6/8/21. It was towed to Spreen Honda dealer in Corona, CA. According to the the first invoice dated 6/8/21 for the repair there was "Confirmed fault code for C1420 main torque sensor and sub torque sensor, C1421-14 malfunction to steering angle, confirmed multiple fault codes due to rodent damage to the steering system sub harness chewed thru replaced the steering torque sensor sub harness and calibrated the steering angle sensor, cleared fault code now OK." Same problem occurred 7/8/2021. Taken to Spreen Honda again on 7/9/21. Wire harness again replaced, steering angle sensor replaced and power steering calibration performed. I have the wire harness that was replaced. Service advisor stated this is a problem with Honda wire harnesses because the insulation on the wires is soy based. He has seen it many times, including one customer at Riverside dealer who had rodents eat his wire harness four times while he was working there. Not having operational power steering makes driving the vehicle very difficult and potentially dangerous.

HONDA WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PASTY THE INCORPORATES THE ASSEMBLY. HOWEVER, TECHNICIANS ARE STATING THAT THIS IS UNNEEDED AND NORMAL PART OF THE CAR. THIS IS IN ACTUALITY, UNTRUE AND CAN BE ULTIMATELY DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER.
