on [XXX] around 5 PM, when driving below 30 miles per hour within a residential community, automatic braking was activated without any obstruction in front of the vehicle, leading to sudden decrease in speed. Vehicle is in Baton Rouge, LA and all service/maintenance were done according to recommended schedule by Honda at the authorized dealership where the vehicle was purchased. Through online search, I found NHTSA opened an investigation for the same problem. If possible, I would appreciate an update about the status of NHTSA investigation and what action I should take. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There have been several times where my forward collision warning goes off when I am just driving along an open highway with no other vehicles nearby and no precipitation. In broad daylight. Another time, a car in front of me slammed on their brakes. There wasn't enough time for me to come to a complete stop, so I navigated my car to the shoulder (I was only going about 30 mph to begin with). However, while I was turning the steering wheel, the Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged, making it impossible for me to turn the steering wheel further. I missed the car in front of me by only and inch or two. If I would have hit that car, it would have been because the AEB system locked up my steering wheel and made it impossible to control my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) independently activated the brakes without another vehicle being nearby. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Mileage: 60,000

The module for the interpretation of sensor output caused the reporting of false alerts. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was compromised by 10 alerts recurring alerts as I was driving at the posted speed on in Interstate highway. The problem has not been reproduced. The Honda Dealer inspected the vehicle at my expense. Only the Honda Dealer has inspected the vehicle. The vehicle’s System Indicators Panel displayed the false alerts. See the attached .pdf files. The false alerts included warning sounds. 2024-12-10_CR-V_false-alerts.pdf 2024-12-10_CR-V_false-alerts.jpg 2024-12-18_CR-V_diagnostics_false-alerts.pdf

I was driving on a straight road (daylight, dry conditions) in my 2022 Honda CR-V (mid trim level) using my adaptive cruise control. The closest cars ahead of me, and in the periphery, were at least three quarters of a mile away. All of a sudden, the car, independent of me, SLAMMED on the brakes. Fortunately, this did not cause an accident, but 10 minutes earlier, when I was on a crowded interstate during rush hour, the result might have been very different. As I reflect on this incident, I realize that this has happened at least twice before. However, in those cases, I thought the front sensor had picked up a curved barricade or something. But no! Apparently the CR-V randomly slams on the brakes. Clearly this is a dangerous situation that needs to be resolved. Ideally there will be a recall within the next few months to replace whatever component is causing this problem to happen.

If the car is parked outside on a day where temperatures exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit, it causes the front sensor camera to malfunction. This is a common issue with CRVs and is heavily documented in online forums. The overheating results in the vehicle’s features dependent on the camera and sensors to malfunction, causing a serious driving safety issues. The car’s audible notification system also goes off, resulting in constant beeping chimes while driving the vehicle.

even when the steering assist is off it pulls to left really bad and it just feels like car is steering itself, also the braking system we give you an alert when no threat..
The automatic emergency braking system was activated even though there was nothing in my path, causing me to stop short in the middle of the street. I could have been rear ended, but fortunately there was no car behind me. The vehicle has not yet been inspected.
While driving in adaptive Cruise control Car applied brake even though no vehicle present can n front of the car. This lead to car behind me apply the brakes. This could be dangerous in future.

I was going south bound up a hill. Less then 20 mph and was blinded by the sun. The old folks in front of me were also blinded by the sun and stopped in the middle of the hill. My automatic emergency braking system did not kick in and I ran right into them. We could have been hurt. My car is being fixed in a collision repair shop now.
When driving between 45 and 50 miles per hour the vehicle did an automatic hard brake...luckily there was no one behind me. I have reported it to the dealer and have an appointment to have the system checked next week.
