SRS LIGHT CAME ON 2 MONTHS AGO. FEAR FOR MY SAFETY. RECALL PLEASE. ELECTRICAL. BACK RT WINDOW AND RT FRONT DOOR LOCK CANNOT BE OPERATED FROM FRONT DRIVER DOOR. LIGHTING. BACK INTERIOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY. Paint is peeling from all over the car, especially on the front of it. Looks ghastly.

June 17, 2022 my daughter was hit on the driver side rear corner panel by a vehicle that ran a red light. The impact had enough force to spin her 2003 Honda CRV 180 degrees yet none of the airbags deployed. The rear driver side wheel was bent inward and had to be towed.

The contact received notification of a recall for a 2003 Honda CR-V she never owned. The contact received several post cards notifications for Takata air bag recalls and requested to be removed from the recall distribution list. The contact stated that the recall notification was addressed to an unknown individual who never lived at her address. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted.

The SRS light in my Honda CRV recently went on, and remains on, when the vehicle is in operation. Last week, I took the car to Honda of Princeton (local Honda dealer), who diagnosed the problem as a DTC 15-3 Faulty OPDS Sensor, and further explained that this faulty sensor could potentially cause the passenger-side airbag (replaced in a prior Honda CRV recall) to NOT deploy in the event of an accident. Indeed, the repair documentation included a dealer statement that I had been made aware of the issue. I paid for this diagnostic work, which was overseen by [XXX], who is a service lane manager at the dealer (Tel: [XXX]). The dealer said it would NOT assume financial responsibility for the replacement of this faulty sensor since the defect is not currently the subject of a Honda product recall, and stressed that this defect is not covered by the various Honda airbag recalls, even though the faulty sensor could impair airbag deployment in an accident. This faulty sensor may cause non-deployment of the passenger-side airbag, and it would therefore seem self-evident that the defect places the safety of any front-seat passenger in my Honda CRV at grave risk. Today, I called American Honda Motor Company (Tel: 888-234-2138) concerning the faulty sensor, and spoke with "[XXX]", who opened Case #[XXX] based on our call. [XXX] said the faulty sensor is not currently the subject of a Honda product recall. She also confirmed (I had already found the bulletin online and asked about it) that the Honda CRV's faulty OPDS sensor was the subject of Honda Service Bulletin 06-006, which extended the warranty to 10 years for the faulty sensor, but she noted that the faulty OPDS sensor was no longer covered by this service bulletin or warranty. [XXX] said that American Honda Motor Co. would not assume financial responsibility for the faulty OPDS sensor on this basis, but suggested that I try to 'work with' the local Honda dealer to address the problem. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 02/21/2020 AND I NOTICED THE FUSE BOX WAS ONLY WORKING ON ONE SIDE. AND THEN RIDING THE INTERSTATE IT SLOWED DON'T AND GRADUALLY PICKED BACK UP SPEED. I THINK IT'S THE FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM AS I READ FROM AN EARLIER REPORT.

I PURCHASED THE 2003 HONDA CRV FROM ANTHONY AUTO SALES IN THOMSON, GA ON 2/21/2020. AFTER PURCHASE I NOTICED MY CIGARETTE LIGHTER/CHARGING PORT DIDN'T WORK. DID A FUSE TEST ON IT ONLY TO DISCOVER HALF OF THE FUSES WEREN'T WORKING IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD. I CALLED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT MAY BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE I WAS HAVING SURGERY THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ON FEBRUARY 25 WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN BUT PICKED ITS SPEED BACK UP AND FOR SOME REASON IT SEEMS TO GET POOR GAS MILEAGE. I LIKE MY VEHICLE I JUST WANT TO KNOW OF ANY FUTURE AND PAST RECALLS AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM RECTIFIED SINCE I NOW OWN THE VEHICLE. PAST REPORTS HAVE ALSO SHOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAGS AS WELL. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHEST, RIBS, AND ARMS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. Feb 18, 2018 Crash

TAKATA RECALL I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN MAY OF 2014. I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR/FRONT FENDER ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES/HOUR IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION. THE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED A DEEP GASH ON MY RIGHT FOREARM AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE CHEMICAL BURNS ON THE SKIN SURROUNDING THE GASH, BOTH PALMS AND BOTH THUMBS THAT TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO HEAL. THE "BURNS" WORSENED OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS FOLLOWING THE CRASH. I ASSUMED THEY WERE CHEMICAL BURNS AFTER DOING A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH. I DID NOT GO TO A DOCTOR BUT INSTEAD TREATED THE AREA WITH AN ANTIBIOTIC CREAM AND LATER, ALOE VERA. I HEALED WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, BUT I STILL HAVE A SCAR ON MY RIGHT FOREARM FROM THE GASH (RECENT, 2/16/17 PHOTO ATTACHED). THE INJURY WAS CAUSED BY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH BOTH MY HANDS WERE ON THE STEERING WHEEL AT A "10 AND 2" POSITION.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 6:30AM THIS MORNING MY LOW BEAMS HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. NOT ABLE TO SEE I PULLED OVER AND PUT MY CRV IN PART. I NOTICED THAT MY LIGHT SWITCH WAS STILL ON BUT I DID NOT HAVE ANY LIGHTS. I PUSHED THE LIGHT CONTROL FORWARDS AND NOTICED I DID HAVE USE OF MY HIGH BEAMS. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND ONLY HAD ABOUT 5 MORE MILE TO GO BEING SATURDAY ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL. WHILE AT WORK I HAD TIME TO RESEARCH WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY POSSIBLY BE THAT'S WHEN I STUMBLED UPON A FEW RECALLS. NEED MY HEADS LIGHTS I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT SWITCH BUT WHILE PLUGGING IN THE NEW SWITCH I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE CONNECTIONS WAS BURNT. I.E. THE RECALL IN ?. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE STEPS I NEED TO TAKE SO THAT I CAN GET THIS PROPERLY TAKEN CARE OF. WHILE LOOKING AT THIS RECALL I FOUND 3 MORE ALARMING RECALLS. BOTH AIR BAGS SHOOTING OUT METAL FRAGMENTS AND A DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH THAT COULD POSSIBLY CATCH FIRE. I'LL BE PARKING OUTSIDE JUST IN CASE BUT ANY ADVICE ABOUT HOW TO GET THIS FIXED WOULD BE GREAT. I HAVE UNTIL THIS DAY STILL RECEIVED NOTIFICATIONS FROM HONDA THAT THEY STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG. I CALLED THE 1-844-758-9245 NUMBER OF HONDA'S TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOW A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL AND THEY SAID THIS IS WHY I AM STILL RECEIVING THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG NOTICE. THIS SOUND SUSPICIOUS TO ME. WHY IS HONDA TELLING ME THEIR IS A PASSENGER SIDE RECALL NOW BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE FOR THIS? WHY CAN THEY NOT REPORT THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REPLACEMENT? ON 07-07-16 I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT SUPERIOR HONDA OF OMAHA DUE TO AN SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATING ON MY DASHBOARD. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE LIGHT COULD BE A RESULT OF SEATBELT FAILURE BECAUSE THE SRS SYSTEM IS A COMPONENT OF THE SEATBELTS. WHEN I HAD MY 2003 CRV SERVICED AT SUPERIOR HONDA OF OMAHA DUE TO AN SRS LIGHT PROBLEM DIAGNOSED, THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE SRS CONTROL MODULE. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THIS PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE HONDA LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR SEATBELTS AND I WAS CHARGED 820.35 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT WHEN THE SRS ILLUMINATES, THEN IT IS POSSIBLE THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT SYSTEM WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY, SO FOR SAFETY CONCERNS I AGREED TO THE REPLACEMENT. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE OFFICES AND SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (NICKY). SHE GAVE ME A COMPLAINT REFERENCE # 04820522 AND I WAS THEN REFERRED TO HER SUPERVISOR LIZ. LIZ CONTACTED ME EARLIER THIS WEEK AND REITERATED THAT THE SRS MODULE IS NOT A COMPONENT OF THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM IN HONDA VEHICLES AND THAT HONDA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REIMBURSING ME FOR THE REPAIR. I DISAGREE. ATTACHED YOU WILL FIND A COPY OF MY BILL FROM SUPERIOR HONDA, A COPY OF A SERVICE NEWS ARTICLE FROM HONDA THAT CLEARLY STATES THE SRS IS A COMPONENT OF THE SEATBELT SYSTEM AND A COPY OF THE PAGE IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL THAT STATES HONDA'S LIFETIME WARRANTY AND COMPONENT COVERAGE. "TAKATA RECALL AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERS REQUEST I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET MY AIRBAG REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. UPON REPAIR MY CAR WAS RETURNED WITH THE "SRS" LIGHT CONTINUALLY ON. I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WAS INFORMED THE SRS SYSTEM FAILED THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM BEFORE THE REPAIR AND HONDA CALLED THE INCIDENT COINCIDENTAL. I TOOK MY HONDA CRV TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN CLARKSVILLE INDIANA TO HAVE THE TAKATA AIR BAG INFLATORS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALLS. MY VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE BOTH AIRBAG INFLATORS REPLACED (DRIVERS AND FRONT PASSENGER). THE WORK WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALER AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME. THAT SAME EVENING I LOOKED DOWN AND IN THE FLOORBOARD WAS A VERY SPECIAL LOOKING SCREW. I KNEW IMMEDIATELY IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL WORK. I WAS CONCERNED ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EVEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK DOWN TO THE DEALER TO MAKE SURE THE WARRANTY WORK HAD BEEN COMPLETED CORRECTLY. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASSURED ME IT HAD. I SHOWED THE SERVICE TECH THE SCREW AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS INDEED THE SAME SCREW THAT THE AIRBAG INFLATOR WAS SECURED WITH INSIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL. BUT HE TOLD ME IT WAS ONE OF THE OLD SCREWS AND THEY HAD TO PUT NEW AND DIFFERENT SCREWS IN WITH THE NEW INFLATOR. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THE WORK AT THIS DEALER. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP SOME TIME LATER HE QUESTIONED WHETHER THE SCREW WAS RELATED TO THEIR WORK. BLAME THE CUSTOMER SEEMS TO BE HONDA'S MODUS OPERANDI THESE DAYS. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS SHODDY & SHADY IN MY OPINION. WHY SHOULD A CONSUMER THAT HAS BEEN PUT IN HARMS WAY ALREADY BY DEFECTIVE AND DEADLY PARTS BE PUT IN DOUBLE JEOPARDY BY SHODDY RECALL WORK AT THE DEALERSHIP. IS THIS ALL THE BETTER WE CAN DO? I STILL DON'T KNOW FOR SURE IF THE WORK WAS COMPLETED CORRECTLY, OR IF MY AIRBAG INFLATOR IS HELD IN WITH THREE SCREWS INSTEAD OF THE REQUIRED FOUR. I THINK THE REGULATORS SHOULD REQUIRE AUTOMAKERS TO FOLLOW STRICT PROCEDURES AT THE DEALERSHIPS FOR ALL SERIOUS SAFETY RELATED RECALLS. REGULATORS SHOULD REQUIRE THAT ALL PARTS BE SUBMITTED TO REGULATORS SO THAT AN UNBIASED INVESTIGATION CAN BE CONDUCTED.

WHILE DRIVING THE HIGHWAY FROM BEND OREGON TO ALBANY OREGON I WAS IN A 2 CAR CRASH. I RECALL THE EXPLOSION OF THE AIRBAG AND THEN COMING TO AGAINST THE ROCK WALL AT DETROIT DAM. I HAD HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SENDING IT SPINNING AND CRASHING UP AGAINST THE GUARD RAIL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE HONDA CRV WENT TO THE RIGHT AND ROLLED 3 TIMES COMING TO A STOP ON THE SIDE. THERE WAS MEDICS, POLICE AND AMBULANCES THAT CAME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO GET ME OUT WITH THE JAWS OF LIFE AND I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE SALEM OREGON HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER OF THE FIRST CAR SUSTAINED A BROKEN SHOULDER AND TORN MUSCLES. I HAD A SEVERE CONCUSSION AND SEATBELT BURNS. MUSCLES HAD BEEN TORN FROM MY BACK AND SHOULDERS. THIS CAR, OWNED BY MY WIFE, WAS BROUGHT TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED. BECAUSE OF MY PAST EXPERIENCE WITH SOME OF THESE PLACES, I DO NOT PUT A LOT OF TRUST IN THEM AND KNOW SOME WILL SAY THE WORK WAS DONE WHEN IN FACT IT WAS NOT. SO I PLACED A TINY PIECE OF MASKING TAPE ON THE INSIDE LIP OF THE STEERING WHEEL COVER TO MAKE SURE THEY WOULD ACTUALLY REMOVE IT. WHEN MY WIFE RETURNED HOME WITH THE CAR, THE TAPE WAS STILL THERE. I HAD ATTACHED IT LOOSELY AND IT FELL OFF AS SOON AS I TOUCHED IT. THIS SHOULD HAVE FALLEN OFF WITH THE STEERING COVER REMOVAL. BEFORE DOING THIS SWAP, THE BATTERY WOULD ALSO HAVE TO BE DISCONNECTED. I CHECKED THE RADIO AND ALL THE CHANNELS WERE STILL PRESET, YET THE MEMORY SHOULD HAVE BEEN WIPED WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. THE RADIO CODE WAS WRITTEN IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL SO THEY COULD HAVE RESET THE CHANNELS BUT THAT WOULD BE UNLIKELY FOR THEM TO DO. I ASKED MY WIFE WHICH CD WAS PLAYING WHEN SHE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND SHE SAID THE SAME ONE THAT WAS PLAYING WHEN I ARRIVED THERE. AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND RESETTING THE RADIO, THE CD PLAYER WILL START PLAYBACK AT DISC 1, TRACK 1. NOW THEY MAY HAVE DONE THE WORK WITHOUT ACTUALLY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY BUT I WAS NOT CONVINCED SO I REMOVED THE STEERING COVER MYSELF. THE SERIAL NUMBER FOR THE NEW AIRBAG ON MY INVOICE IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ON THE AIRBAG IN THE CAR. IT IS A TAKATA AIRBAG STILL, BUT I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE PROVIDING THE NEW AIRBAGS. I SPOKE TO A WOMAN WHO DID NOT IDENTIFY HERSELF, WHO SEEMED RELUCTANT TO HELP, AND WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME BACK. AFTER WAITING THREE DAYS, ON OCTOBER 25 MY HUSBAND CALLED AGAIN. HE SPOKE TO DEXTER, WHO PROMISED HE WOULD CALL BACK WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN STOCK WITHIN 7 TO 10 DAYS. AGAIN THERE WAS NO RETURN CALL. SO MY HUSBAND CALLED AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 11. THIS TIME DEXTER SAID THAT THE PARTS "COULD BE ON BACK ORDER FOR TWO MONTHS." WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THE SAFETY CONCERNS OF DRIVING WITH THESE DEMONSTRABLY DANGEROUS AIRBAGS, DISTRESSING BECAUSE THERE IS REGULARLY A BABY IN THE CAR, DEXTER ADVISED THAT THE AIRBAG FUSE BE REMOVED UNTIL THE SITUATION WAS REMEDIED. ONCE MORE WE RECEIVED NO PHONE CALLS FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THUS ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE ON JANUARY 06, 2015. MY HUSBAND AGAIN SPOKE TO DEXTER, WHO REPEATED THAT HE WOULD CALL BACK IN 7 TO 10 DAYS. PREDICTABLY, NO ONE CALLED. ANOTHER CALL WAS PLACED BY MY HUSBAND ON JANUARY 15. THIS TIME, AT LAST, DEXTER MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR JANUARY 23. ON THE 23RD, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED, AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE PARTS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WERE UNAVAILABLE (NO FURTHER EXPLANATION). THEY WOULD NEED TO BE ORDERED. I DON'T COMPREHEND HOW IT IS THAT AFTER MONTHS OF WAITING FOR THESE PARTS, AND BEING FORCED TO DRIVE IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, THIS DEALERSHIP IS STILL UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM--DESPITE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO DO JUST THAT. MY AFFECTED VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 30 MPH WHEN BROADSIDED BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 40-45 MPH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE; MY VEHICLE WAS ALSO SHOVED OUT OF THE DRIVING LANE, PROCEEDED TO COLLIDE HEAD ON WITH A STREET SIGN WITH THE FRONT RIGHT AND A UTILITY POLE WITH MY FRONT LEFT. NEITHER THE FRONT OR SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND JAWS OF LIFE WAS UTILIZED TO EXTRICATE ME. I SUFFERED A LEFT-SIDED HEAD INJURY (LARGE CONTUSION, CONCUSSION), SHOULDER INJURY (ROTATOR CUFF, FRACTURED SCAPULA) AND BACK AND NECK STRAINS. THESE INJURIES WERE CAUSED BY CONTACT WITH THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE ON THE LEFT SIDE. INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLY AVOIDED IF SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND CUSHIONED THE IMPACT/PROTECTED DRIVER FROM CONTACT WITH VEHICLE FRAME. CONTACT WITH AMERICAN HONDA AT THE NATIONAL OFFICE REGARDING THIS MATTER WAS MET WITH TOTAL DISINTEREST. ONE PERSON ACTUALLY TOLD ME I SHOULD BE GLAD IT DID NOT GO OFF BECAUSE I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT WORSE BY THE AIRBAG. THE SRS LIGHT (AIRBAG SENSOR) CONTINUED TO STAY LIT ON MY DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO MY HONDA DEALER (WEST HILLS HONDA IN BREMERTON, WA) WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THEY "FOUND" A "CODE 7-2 IN THE SYSTEM", INDICATING THERE WAS AN "SRS CONTROL UNIT FAILURE". ESSENTIALLY, THE ELECTRICAL UNIT THAT WOULD DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS HAD FAILED, WHICH MEANT I NO LONGER HAD THE POTENTIAL USE OF MY VEHICLES AIRBAGS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE COST FOR A NEW PART WAS $659.95, LABOR AN ADDITIONAL $100.00, WHICH MEANT A BILL CLOSE TO $800.00 WITH TAX. FAR BEYOND MY RETIREMENT INCOME TO HANDLE. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE, SIMILAR TO A SEAT BELT PROBLEM (WHICH HONDA WOULD TAKE CARE OF FOR FREE). THIS SRS CONTROL UNIT RARELY FAILS, THEY TOLD ME. IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT DUE TO MY NEGLIGENCE OR LACK OF ATTENTION TO PROPER MAINTENANCE. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT SINCE THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE, AND WAS NOT CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE BY THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY HONDA.
