While cruising down a standard roadway around 40 mph, the passenger side/seat airbag randomly deployed for no apparent reason. The sound and shock of the airbag deployment nearly caused me to lose control the vehicle because it was so loud and unexpected.
Honda is not honoring their commitment to make service available for the recalls on this vehicle, which includes the Takata airbag. I am attempting to make an appointment at my local Honda Dealer Paragon Honda in Woodside, NY on 6/28. There are no service appointments available through the end of December. I had the same problem about two years ago when I attempted to speak to a person at the dealership. They have made this impossible. Because I live in NYC it is not reasonable to commute to the next closest dealer because that would require bridges and tolls. This is unaccaptable.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SMART HONDA DES MOINES (11206 HICKMAN RD, DES MOINES, IA 50325, 515-253-3040) TO BE SERVICED FOR THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT DUE TO A DEFECTIVE STUD, THE ENTIRE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO ORDER THE PART FROM ANOTHER DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER WOULD NOT RELEASE THE PART. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO RETRIEVE THE NEEDED PART FROM VARIOUS DEALERS AND MANUFACTURERS, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE AN OFFICIAL TIMEFRAME AS TO WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HER INJURIES AT AURORA MEDICAL CENTER GRAFTON 975 PORT WASHINGTON RD, GRAFTON WI 53024 262-329-1000, WHERE SHE TREATED FOR THE REMOVAL OF GLASS FROM HER LEGS AND SCALP. THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THIS VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE TAKATA RECALL IN NOVEMBER 2015 AND THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN JANUARY 2016. SINCE THE CAR ROLLED OVER WHEN SLOWING DOWN QUICKLY TAKING A TURN ON THE HIGHWAY, MAYBE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG SHOULDN'T HAVE DEPLOYED BUT NONE OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS WORKED EITHER (SEE PICTURES).

FROM THE BEGINING I HAVE CHECKED ON RECALLS/ CAMPAIGNS FOR THESE ITEMS AND THE ONLY RECALL WE RECEIVED FOR THIS VEHICLE VIN # WAS THE AIR BAG RECALL (BTW WE TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECAL AND THE SRS LIGHT IS STILL ON). WHEN YOU LOOK ON HONDA'S WEBSITE TO CHECK FOR RECALLS NO OTHER ISSUES COME UP WITH MY VIN#, YET IF YOU LOOK THE VEHICLE UP BY THE MODEL AND YEAR, A WHOLE LIST OF "CAMPAIGNS" COME UP UNDER THIS VEHICLE. MY VEHCILE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE SAID MAKE AND MODELS FOR YEARS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HONDA AMERICA (CASE # 04205532) THIS MORNING AND SPOKE WITH "SERINITY" OF THE PRODUCT CONCERN SECTION OF HONDA AMERICA AND BASICLLY SHE IS TELLING ME BECAUSE MY PARTICILAR VEHCILE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN (VIN # STARTING WITH A "J") THAT NO RECALLS APPLY TO ME. BUT YET I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE OF THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR. HONDA BASICALLY HAS STATED THAT THEY CANNOT OFFER ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER. PLEASE NOTE, THERE ARE OTHER SAFETY "CAMPAIGNS" THAT I NEVER GOT NOTICES, SUCH AS WIRING HARNESSESS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO A NON-DEALER MECHANIC FOR AIR-CONDITIONING SERVICES AND THEY STATED TO ME 2 + YEARS AGO THAT THIS VEHICLE IS KNOWN TO HAVE A MAJOR DEFECT IN THE AC CLUTCH ON THE AC PUMP WAS DESIGNED TOO CLOSE TO THE ENGINE AND THUS HEATS UP AND SHATTERS INTO MANY PIECES AND FLOWS THOUGH THE WHOLE AC SYSTEM THUS REQUIRING THAT THE WHOLE AC SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED (HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN # 12-072). HONDA HAS ISSUED A CAMPAIGN INCREASING THE AC SYSTEM WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS/ 100,000 MILES, BUT AGAIN THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE, YET I HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUES ON MY VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ON THIS MATTER.

ON 7/27 I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (15V-320) FROM HONDA. I IMMEDIATELY (7/27, 1:26 PM) CONTACTED SUSSMAN HONDA (215-657-7050) AT 1543 EASTON RD., ABINGTON PA 19001, TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I WAS GIVEN A 10:00 AM APPOINTMENT FOR AUG 4, 2015. I WAS ASSURED THEY HAD THE NECESSARY PARTS. WHEN I ARRIVED, I WAS TURNED AWAY AT THE SERVICE ENTRANCE BECAUSE, "THEY HAD JUST RAN OUT OF THE PARTS". I WAS DISMAYED. I HAD EXPECTED THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE RESERVED FOR MY APPOINTMENT. THIS INCIDENT WASTED MY TIME, ENERGY, MONEY AND GASOLINE,AND PUT ME AT ADDITIONAL RISK FOR THE DANGERS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. THE SERVICE ASSISTANT TOOK MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER AND ASSURED ME I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE, BUT GAVE NO INDICATION AS TO A TIME FRAME WHEN THAT WOULD HAPPEN. I WAS ALSO SPINNING AND FISHTAILING AND THE BACK END OF MY CR-V (PASSENGER SIDE) HIT THE BACK END OF THE DRIVER SIDE OF A SEDAN IN THE #3 OR #4 LANE. THAT IMPACT SENT MY CR-V STRAIGHT INTO THE CEMENT CENTER DIVIDER OF THE FREEWAY. I HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER HEAD ON AND WENT UP AND IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO GO OVER IT ONTO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FREEWAY BUT MY CR-V CAME BACK DOWN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CENTER DIVIDER WITH THE SMASHED UP BUMPER FACING THE CENTER DIVIDER. MY CR-V HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER HARD ENOUGH FOR MY BODY TO BEND THE STEERING WHEEL BACK. NOT ONE OF MY 4 AIR BAGS WENT OFF. I HAD THIS CR-V IN THE HONDA DEALER 14 DAYS EARLIER TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG RECALL (I HAVE ALL OF THE PAPERWORK DETAILING THIS) I HAVE PICTURES OF THE INJURIES FROM HITTING AND BENDING THE STEERING WHEEL. I ALSO CHIPPED 3 TEETH. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR AND THE BENT METAL AROUND IT. THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2004 HONDA CRV. I VISITED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER. DEALER ADVISED SRS LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO FAULTY OPDS(OCCUPANT POSITION DETECTION SYSTEM) SENSOR. THIS SENSOR WILL TURN OFF/ON PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS ITEM IS NOT COVERED OUTSIDE THE 3YR/36000 MI WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MANY 2002-2004 HONDA CRV'S WERE GIVEN A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE EXTENSION COVERED UP TO 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS. HONDA CHECKED MY VIN AGAINST THEIR DATABASE AND ADVISED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 51,500 MILES AND WILL BE 4 YRS OLD IN OCTOBER. THE DEALER ADVISED IF I DESIRED THE REPAIR, IT WOULD BE AT MY EXPENSE. I CHOSE NOT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS WITH THIS OPDS SENSOR. THIS OPDS SYSTEM IS NOT LIMITED TO THE CRV LINE; IT IS ALSO FOUND ON MANY OTHER HONDA VEHICLES. THERE ARE OTHER YEARS AND MAKES WHICH WERE GIVEN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. I BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE OPDS SYSTEM, AND ALL EQUIPPED VEHICLES SHOULD BE GIVEN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NEARLY INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. WHILE AVOIDING THE COLLISION, THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND DROPPED DOWN A 30 FOOT EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, THEDUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN NECK IN THREE PLACES, MAJOR BACK INJURIES, AND FRACTURES OF SEVEN RIBS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK NONE OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED EITHER. *SC *JB

DEFECT REGARDING WIRING HARNESS OF THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIR BAG BEING INCORRECTLY WIRED. *MR THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING STRUCK BY AN ONGOING VAN, THE CONSUMER SKIDDED OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A POLE. THE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED. *SC THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE WIRING OF THE AIR BAG. *JB
CALLED REGARDING RECALL OF 2004 HONDA CR-V. MANUFACTURER HAD NO INFORMATION ABOUT RECALL, COULDNT TELL ME WHEN RECALL NOTICES WERE GOING OUT AND REFERRED ME TO NHTSA FOR MORE INFORMATION. *AK
