As I was driving home from work last week 04/22/25, I noticed a drop in the rear passenger side and an odd noise I had never heard before. I only live 3 blocks from work and I immediately pulled it in the garage and put it up on the jack. Once I removed my drivers side rear tire and got a closer look, I found that my drivers side rear trailing arm and the frame have rusted through and completely broke. My vehicle had just been inspected 5 months earlier with no issues and is parked in a dry garage at all times when not in use.

Passenger rear trailing arm broke off from body mount. Vehicle is still available for inspection. Coming to a stop sign and car came to an abrupt stop. Something had stopped the car before I even got to the stop sign. Coming down to the stop sign car began to lost steering and swayed back and forth. Car is in very good condition has 138,100 miles on it. But now it can,t be driven cant be fixed and be safe. Still books for $3200.00. Our family was left vulnerable to a horrible accident if going any faster when this happened. Broke down on a back road at 10:30 p.m. close to a stop sign. Had to be towed. A recall of the 2007 to 2011 CR-V. stated that this happens to those models. They didn't go back far enough on this recall and if I hadn't told people who still have the 2005- 2006 model they wouldn't have known and this could happen to them. Vehicle was inspected by insurance co. and Honda dealership and reported to Honda corp. Rust no coverage or repair for this vehicle. Mechanic looked at can't repair and make safe. Same problem as those vehicles recalled. But because it wasn't on the recall list there is nothing they can do about this vehicle. This left me, my loved ones vulnerable to a serious accident if I had been on a freeway let alone on any road going 50 and above in speed. No warnings what so ever that this could happen. No messages, no lamps no letters from Honda nothing.

"TAKATA RECALL" - ON NOV 19, 2016, I HAD AN ACCIDENT. I WAS GOING DOWN A SANDY DIRT ROAD AND HEARD A LOUD POP OR BANG (ENDED UP BEING THE STABILIZER BAR BROKE) AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKED TO THE LEFT, SLAMMING THE CAR INTO A DITCH WHERE THERE WAS A FULL EMBANKMENT. I WAS SLUNG TO THE LEFT, HITTING MY HEAD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND THE SIDE SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BOUNCING ME BACK TO CENTER. TO MY SHOCK AND WONDER THE DRIVERS SIDE, STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED, WHICH HAS CONCERNED ME EVERY SINCE THE ACCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT BOTH OF THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

2005 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE WHEEL SUSPENSION SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS WIFE BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, SHE FELT A CRUNCH AND A DROP COME FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE A FRAME OF THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SUSPENSION FAILED AT THE WELDED ATTACH POINT ON THE SWAY BAR. THE WELD HAD BEEN FAILING FOR SOME TIME AS THERE WAS RUST AND DIRT ON SOME OF THE BROKEN EDGES. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE FRONT CONTROL ARM BROKE, CAUSING THE AXLE TO FAIL AND THE SWAY BAR LINK TO FAIL.

THERE WAS A GROAN COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN OR TIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEED. THE MILEAGE WAS 18769 MILES. THE CAUSE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO CONTAMINATION OF THE FLUID IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE FLUID WAS DRAINED AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCHES WERE BURNISHED. HOWEVER, THE DRAINED FLUID WAS CLEAN. THE FLUID WAS AGAIN REPLACED. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A CAR WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE WRONG FLUID WAS INSTALLED AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED STEADY VIBRATION ONCE TRAVELING OVER 42 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH AXLES WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE AXLES BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT THEN REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SO THAT AN ENGINEER COULD FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

I HAVE A HONDA CR-V EX PURCHASED 4/14/2005. IT HAS PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT, ESPECIALLY DURING ACCELERATION, SINCE THE FIRST DAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED AND THEY HAVE FAILED TO DO SO. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS AT THE REQUEST OF AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR AFTER I RECENTLY WROTE THE COMPANY A LETTER DEMANDING THAT THE CAR BE MADE TO COMPLY WITH WARRANT, OR THAT I BE GIVEN ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT DOES, OR THAT THE COMPANY BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. DURING NORMAL DRIVING THERE IS A CONSTANT PULL TO THE RIGHT. ON A FLAT ASPHALT SURFACE (NO TILT OR CROWNING) WHEN I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE MOVES TO A 45-DEGREE ANGLE AND HALFWAY INTO THE NEXT LANE IN THE RIGHT AFTER JUST 20 FEET. MY HONDA 2005 CR-V EX HAS A PROBLEM WITH PULL TO THE RIGHT (PTTR) FROM DAY ONE (MAY 31, 2005). THE FASTER I DRIVE, THE HARDER IT PULLS. IT DOESN'T MATTER OF I ACCELERATE OR DRIVE AT A STEADY SPEED, THE PTTR IS THERE. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN I DROVE AT 70 MPH ON I-10, WHICH IS A 4-LANE ROAD, 2 LANES ON EACH DIRECTION (NORTH OF TALLAHASSEE), I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE, THEN TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. IT STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AFTER TWO SECONDS. AND THEN BETWEEN 2 TO 3 SECONDS LATER, MY V WAS ON THE RIGHT LANE. I HAD TO GRAB THE WHEEL AND PULLED IT STRAIGHT BACK TO THE ROAD OTHERWISE IT WOULD GO INTO A DITCH OR HIT A TREE. DID THE SAME TEST AS ABOVE, EXCEPT I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL (LET THE V CRUISE ON ITS INERTIA) AT THE SAME TIME I TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE PTTR REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY, AFTER 7-8 SECONDS IT STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT. THIS IS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. 3 TRIPS TO HONDA DEALER IN TALLAHASSEE BUT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. ON THE FOURTH TRIP, THEY SAID THERE IS NO PTTR. I INSISTED THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY, AND THEY SAID THEY TRIED EVERYTHING (SWAP FRONT TIRES, ALIGNMENT, TSB, SUB FRAME) WITHIN ALIGNMENT AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO ANY MORE. THEY ADMITTED THERE WAS PTTR THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN, BUT NOW THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL. I CHECKED IN CR-V FORUMS OF EDMUNDS.COM (AND SOME OTHER SITE) AND I FOUND THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND OTHER PEOPLE DON'T HAVE. ONE VEHICLE EVEN HAD 2 FRONT SUSPENSION REPLACED FROM AN UNAFFECTED CR-V TO GET THE PROBLEM SOLVED. HONDA DID ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT DID NOT FIX IT, OR JUST TEMPORALLY FIXED FOR A FEW MONTHS (ACCORDING TO SOME PEOPLE IN THE FORUMS). I THINK THIS IS A DEFECT AND IT HAS A DANGEROUS POTENTIAL TO LEAD TO A CRASH. IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY TO COME UP WITH A REAL FIX. NICK NGUYEN

SINCE MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2005 CRV EX 3 WEEKS AGO IT HAS SPENT MORE TIME AT THE DEALERS THEN WITH US. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A PULL TO THE RIGHT. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALER STATED THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF BALANCE. PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME. THE VEHICLE WENT IN A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEIR BALANCING MACHINE WAS INCORRECTLY CALIBRATED; THEN CHANGED ONE TIRE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAR MEETS HONDA "SPECS". PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN A THIRD TIME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER, AMERICA HONDA, PLACED THE STRUTS ON INCORRECTLY AND FIXED IT. PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND IT NO LONGER PULLED TO THE RIGHT , HOWEVER THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WAS STILL THERE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN A FOURTH TIME , WENT FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN AND HE STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH A VIBRATION AT 45 , 50 AND BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. THE DEALER THEN TEST DROVE 3 OTHER CR-V'S FROM THE LOT THEN STATED THAT THEY WERE AS BAD OR WORST THEN MINE. THE HEAD SUPERVISOR CONTACTED AMERICA HONDA AND GAVE THEM THE DETAILS. THEIR REPLY " SINCE ALL THE VEHICLES DO THAT IT MUST BE A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE." THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT SINCE AMERICA HONDA DID NOT RECONIZE IT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW. AMERICA HONDA NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THEY ARE PRODUCING. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA CR-V ON JULY 11, 2005. AFTER BRIEFLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A SEVERE PULL TO THE RIGHT (LATER FOUND OUT THIS IS CALLED TS (TORQUE STEER) DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP UP TO SIXTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR. IN LESS THAN THREE SECONDS THE CAR WAS TWO LANES TO THE RIGHT (SAFETY HAZARD). I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE GRADE TO THE LEFT AND THE VEHICLE STILL PULLED UPHILL TO THE RIGHT (SO MUCH FOR ROAD CROWN PULL). ON 7/26 SPREEN HONDA OF LOMA LINDA, CA, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, HAD IT ALIGNED BY THE SATURN DEALERSHIP (OWNED BY SPREEN OWNER) WITH NO APPRECIABLE DIFFERENCE. ON 7/28-7/29 SPREEN HAD PREUTT''S WHEEL ALIGNMENT OF REDLANDS DO A SECOND ALIGNMENT WITH NO APPRECIABLE DIFFERENCE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. SPREEN SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, I WAS THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT IT, TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE, THAT THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT WAS INHERENT IN ALL FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES (WAS NOT A PROBLEM IN MY 1999 CR-V), THAT THEY HAD NO FURTHER COMMITMENT AND I SHOULD TALK TO AMERICAN HONDA. I THINK NHTSA SHOULD ENFORCE THE REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT AND HONDA SHOULD MITIGATE THIS DEFECT OR RECALL ALL OF ITS AFFECTED VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY. *JB

PURCHASED A NEW 2005 HONDA CRV IN EARLY 2005. WHEN WE PICKED UP OUR NEW VEHICLE, WE NOTICED IT PULLING TO THE RIGHT ON OUR RIDE HOME. THINKING THE FRONT END NEEDED ALIGNMENT, WE WEREN'T ALARMED AT THE TIME. WE RECENTLY RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER FOR CORRECTION OF THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT (PTTR) PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING THE FRONT END REALIGNED WE DROVE OFF THE LOT AND NOTICED IT WAS STILL PTTR. RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEIR NEXT STEP WAS TO CHANGE THE RIGHT FRONT HUB AND SWITCH THE FRONT WHEELS. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE RESULT WAS THE VEHICLE NOW PULLED TO THE LEFT. BASED ON THIS FINDING THEY DECIDED THE ORIGINAL FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. SINCE REPLACEMENT TIRES ARE ON BACKORDER, THEY PUT OUR SPARE TIRE ON THE FRONT LEFT AND PUT THE DEFECTIVE TIRE ON THE BACK AS THE SPARE. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN OK WITH US, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL PTTR. NOT SURE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NEXT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE OTHER 4 HONDAS WE HAVE OWNED. *AK

THIS NEW 05' HONDA CR-V EX HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH NO RESOLVE FROM THE DEALER. IT HAS A CONTINUED PROBLEM OF PULLING TO THE RIGHT AS WELL AS VIBRATION AT HIGHER SPEEDS. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE CV BOOT HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE AS WELL AS THE TRANSAXLE. THE VEHICLE CAME NEW WITH THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER HAS TRIED DILIGENTLY TO FIX THE PTTR PROBLEM WITH NEW TIRES, AXLE, ROTATION, ALIGNMENT, WHEELS FROM OTHER 05' CR-V'S. BUT, THEY HAVE SAID THE VIBRATION IS WITHIN MANUFACTURE'S SPECS!!!! I HAVE SPENT MORE TIME WITH MY CAR AT THE DEALER SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN DECECMBER OF 2004 AND IT IS NOW APRIL 2005! THE VIBRATION COMES ABOUT THROUGHOUT THE CAB, ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL AT AROUND 50-70 MPH. I'M VERY UPSET THAT I PAY GOOD MONEY FOR A CAR THAT BRINGS ME GRIEF EACH AND EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR ON THE HI-WAY. AROUND TOWN IT'S FINE. I BOUGHT A 2005 HONDA CRV 2-LX AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR. FROM DAY ONE, IT PULLED TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR REALIGNMENT, TIRE ROTATION AND OTHER ADJUSTMENTS WITH NO IMPROVEMENT AT ALL. THE ALIGNMENT READ-OUTS ARE FINE. ON A FLAT SURFACE GOING 35-40 MPH, NOT HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL, THE VEHICLE CHANGES LANES WITHIN 4 SECONDS. HONDA SAYS 6 SECONDS IS ALLOWABLE. THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND I FEEL I'M DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.*AK

SINCE '05 HONDA CRV WAS PURCHASED, (4 MONTHS AGO) VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. BESIDES BEING A ROAD HAZARD AT ALL SPEEDS, THE PULLING APPARENTLY RESULTS IN ALL TIRES BEING OUT OF ALIGNEMNT. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR THREE (3) TIMES WITHOUT ANY REPAIR THAT HELPED THE PROBLEM OF PULLING TO THE RIGHT. (VEHICLE WAS RE-ALIGNED ONCE.) HONDA MANUFACTURER TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ALL 2 WHEEL DRIVE AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES PULL TO THE RIGHT AT SPEEDS UNDER 30 MPH. ADDITIONALLY, TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HONDA DOES NOT HAVE ANY SPECIFICATION AS TO HOW MUCH A VEHICLE CAN PULL TO THE RIGHT AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL.*AK

I ATTEMPTED TO PURCHASE A 2005 HONDA CR-V, EX TRIM, 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I FOUND THAT THREE OF THE VEHICLES I TEST DROVE HAVE A PULL TO THE RIGHT, VARYING FROM MODERATE TO SEVERE BETWEEN VEHICLES. WHEN I COMPLAINED, THE DEALER DID NOT FIX THE VEHICLE, BUT ADDED AN EXTRA 10 POUNDS OF PRESSURE TO THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE - THIS OF COURSE MASKED (BUT DIDN'T CURE) THE PROBLEM. I ENDED UP CANCELING MY CONTRACT AND WALKED AWAY -- FROM THE EDMUNDS.COM FORUMS, IT SEEMS THAT OTHERS WERE NOT AS FORTUNATE AND NOW MAY BE STUCK WITH FAULTY VEHICLES. *JB
