Complaint: Both rear doors and the front passenger door no longer lock or unlock electronically using the key fob or interior switch. The failure began gradually and worsened over time. I recently had the driver door replaced by A Honda dealer as part of the warranty but the passenger and back door were not part of the warranty and dealership has also confirmed the lock failures. This creates serious safety risks: •Doors randomly unlock while driving and while parked •Cannot reliably open doors in an emergency •At times, the vehicle must be left unlocked •I transport young children, making manual locking unsafe Additionally, the vehicle has a persistent engine oil leak that mechanics cannot permanently fix. Oil loss between changes risks engine damage, loss of power, or fire. I request NHTSA investigate these defects and consider a recall for the failing door locks and the engine oil leak.
The passenger car door unlocks for no reason. It used to automatically lock when I start driving , now it starts to open and will not remain locked while driving, or when I lock my car door when I park. When I use the key fob the car alarm goes off and the door is still unlocked. This car has had a recall on the airbags. The light comes on once in a while. It was fixed by the Honda Dealership but recently, once in a while , the light still comes on. It is concerning . The air pressure warning light will remain on even after I have had my tires checked.
I am having door lock issues with all my locks on my car. It started with my front passenger and now both rear are also having issues. When I click the unlock button on the keyfob they unlock then lock again. Same with the unlock button on the drivers door. When I'm driving (accelerating), the drivers door will click as if it is trying to lock even though it already is.
Passenger Door Lock Actuators are not working properly on front passenger and rear doors. Doors may be unlocked from the outside or inside but will immediately lock again with 1-2 seconds. This is a major safety issue in the event of an emergency as one may be trapped in the car or not be able to get to a person in the car even once the doors are 'unlocked' they will only remain unlocked for 1-2 seconds. I do not feel safe nor do i feel safe having my wife or kids in the car as a result of this issue.
The back passenger door makes a grinding noise, which I believe could be due to a faulty actuator. this happens when the doors automatically lock after getting gup to about 15mph

Whenever I unlock the doors, the front passenger and rear passenger doors do not stay unlocked for more than a second. I am worried that if something happened (such as the car catching on fire), my passengers would be unable to get out of the car. I bought this car used with this problem; the owner before me also had this issue. To my knowledge, there was no prior warning to this problem occurring. Lock issues are a common occurrence with the model from 2007-2011 CRVs.
Hello, My vehicle's door motors or actuators are not working, specifically the driver side back door and the rear baggage door. This happened as we were trying to get into the vehicle while it was raining heavily on the side of the road due to an emergency toilet brake. This of course was frustrating as we were trying to get into the car and put stuff in the car, and put us in harms way of upcoming traffic because some of us could not get in. This problem has been rampant by Honda Motor company and they had a recall regarding this issue. There were no warning lights for this. We just heard a loud buzz when we tried to open the doors.
lock actuator failed, was repaired by Honda on 9/17/2021. Failed again on 1/7/23. Unable to unlock any door with assistance of local police, AAA. Could not get towed because vehicle could not be unlocked to put into neutral. Honda Customer service told me they could not help.

I had my door lock actuators replaced from a previous recall and now they are acting up again. The front passenger door lock in unlocking and locking whenever I come to a stop and start driving again.
Drivers back door lock keeps locking the whole car or sometimes unlocks .I told the car dealership were I purchased car .They won't fix it because they said I bought as is. So I called the Honda Store in Boardman oh and they told me no recalls on my problem.
Door actuators have failed on both the passenger front and right rear. They lock almost immediately after unlocking. There is a high risk the passengers may not be able to exit in an emergency and rescue could be delayed. I have owned this car since bought new in September 2006. This problem began in 2020 during the pandemic so I have not gone to a dealer. I recently found information about recall 12V338000 in 2015 but I was never notified of that recall (since expired). I have since moved to a new address and the vehicle remains registered to me at my new address. Online research tells me this is a known problem and owners are charged $300-800 for repairs - often more than once!
Door locks won't lock on all doors, and while driving continues to try and lock the doors

MY HONDA CRV 2007 STEERING WHEEL AND IGNITION LOCKED ON ME. WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR THE KEY WENT INTO THE IGNITION BUT IT DIDN'T TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL WERE LOCKED. I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER. ON MONDAY MORNING, I CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE IGNITION LOCK ASSEMBLY. HONDA KEPT MY VERTICAL FOR 2 DAYS. THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART TO REPLACE THE IGNITION. WHEN I ASKED HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANY OTHER HONDA CRV, MR.DYLAN FRIZZELL SAID 1 OTHER HONDA CRV THAT HE KNEW OF AT THIS TIME. I SHOULD NOT BE OBLIGATED T0 PAY $742.00. MY HONDA CRV 2007 HAD THE AIRBAGS AND DOORS RECALLED CAUSING ME POTENTIAL DEATH. PLEASE GIVE ME A WRITTEN RESPONSE. ALL CAR LOCKS MAKE A LOUD NOISE WHEN UNLOCKING/LOCKING. ONLY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL STAY UNLOCKED WHEN YOU UNLOCK. OTHERS WILL TYPICALLY LOCK IN 1-2 SECONDS MAKING IT A PAIN TO ALLOW SOMEONE INTO THE VEHICLE. DRIVER SIDE LOCK SWITCH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 9,197 MILES. PROBLEM RESURFACED 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO, BUT WE;VE JUST BEEN TOLERATING IT SINCE WE DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY ON 8 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 150K MILES. NO WE LEARN THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED? SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I DISABLED THE AUTO DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN GOING OVER 10 MILES/HOUR AND WHEN PLACED IN PARK TO REDUCE THE NUISANCE NOISE.

2007 CRV PURCHASED NEW. 198,000. CAR HAS BEEN FAILING TO FURN OVER INTERMITTENTLY FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS ON FIRST TRY. ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIGHT UP, BUT ONLY A LOW WURRING NOISE. TURN KEY BACK, WAIT A SECOND OR TWO AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP. TODAY, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 3 - 4 MILES, BOTH THE VSA LIGHT AND THE TRANGLE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED BUCKING AND DRIVING VERY ROUGHLY. CONITUNED UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER. TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THE VSA NAD TRIANGLE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR RETURNED TO DRIVING NORMALLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY COMMUTE (~8 MILES). PARKED CAR FOR 10 HOURS. WHEN STARTING AGAIN, THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO OCCURED EXCEPT THE VSA AND TRIANGLE LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER ABOUT 2/10'S OF A MILE. PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND DRIVING RETURNED TO NORMAL. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I STARTED TO RESEARCH THESE ISSUES AND STUMBLED UPON SOME POSTS REGARDING POSSIBLE RECALLS AND/OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN'S REGARDING FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES AND A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE STARTING ISSUES, THE DASHLIGHTS AND THE BUCKING AND ROUGH DRIVING I HAD ENCOUNTERED.

HONDA REFUSES TO REPLACE RECALLED DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK AND PASSENGER REAR LOCKS WILL NOT STAY OPEN, SEALING OCCUPANTS IN THE CAR UNLESS THE KEY FOB IS REPEATEDLY ACTUATED. HONDA SAYS RECALL HAS EXPIRED. HONDA REPLACED ONE ACTUATOR WITH ANOTHER THAT ALSO FAILED AND WILL NOT REPLACE IT.
WE WERE DRIVING AND STOPPED THE CAR OUTSIDE A RESTAURANT. WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR IT WOULD NOT UNLOCK USING THE DOOR HANDLE. IT FINALLY OPENED WHEN THE KEY FOB WAS PRESSED SEVERAL TIMES. EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS THE LOCK CLICKED OPEN, CLICKED LOCKED BUT THE INDICATOR THAT TURNS RED WHEN THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED WOULD NOT FULLY ENGAGE. THE INDICATOR WAS ONLY PARTIALLY RED. IT WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE AND WOULD NOT LOCK. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK CLICKED ON- AND - OFF EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS WHEN WE WERE DRIVING. WE CAN'T LOCK OUR CAR DOOR WHEN IN MOTION AND CAN'T LOCK THE CAR DOORS WHEN STOPPED OR PARKED. IT IS NOT SAFE.
TWO ITEMS OF CONCERN TO REPORT: DOOR LOCKS - BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NO LONGER LOCK AND ONCE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, THE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. WHEN IN PARK, THE BACK DOOR REMAINS UNLOCKED EVEN AFTER THE DOORS HAVE BEEN SECURED. - MAJOR SECURITY / SAFETY ISSUE - CHILDREN IN THE BACK OF THE CAR RENDERS CHILD LOCKS USELESS. CAR WILL NOT START / SHUTS OFF IN MOTION: I HAVE HAD 4 TOTAL INSTANCES (2) OF EACH IN THE PAST MONTH. WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT SLOW SPEED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHES AND THE CAR DIES. THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER WHEN TRYING TO TURN ON. FINALLY STARTED ONCE CAR WAS PUT INTO NEUTRAL - COMPUTER COMPLETELY RESETS - HAVE TO ENTER RADIO CODE. SECOND INSTANCE - DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY, INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHES AND CAR DIES - THEN COMES BACK ON WHILE DRIVING. MAJOR ISSUE!!

THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM UNLOCKS ITSELF AFTER LOCKING WITH DRIVER'S MASTER CONTROL OR KEY CONTROL. THIS ALLOWS THE DOOR TO BE UNSECURED WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING CAUSING SAFETY ISSUE. HONDA SEES THIS AS WARRANTY ISSUE NOT SAFETY ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO BE LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V030000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V061000 (AIR BAGS), BUT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER TO RECEIVE THE REPAIRS WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO UNCERTAIN ABOUT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILURE AND REPORTED THE FAILURE TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
DOOR LOCKS:: 2014 CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT RESULTED IN SIX MONTH EXTENSION TO NOVEMBER 2015 FOR HONDA 2007 CRV REPAIR THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THE LOCK HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT RESULTS IN THE DOORS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE UNLOCKED FROM THE INSIDE. IF YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS, IT AUTOMATICALLY RE-LOCKS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT IS FOR AN ADULT TO PUT THEIR THUMB ON THE MANUAL DOOR LATCH AND TRY TO BLOCK THE LATCH FROM LOCKING WHILE YOU TRY TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE PASSENGER LOCKS ON MY AFFECTED VEHICLE HAD VERY LITTLE USAGE WHILE DRIVER DOOR HAD HIGH USAGE. DRIVER DOOR WAS NOT AFFECTED SO THIS IS NOT A "WEAR" ISSUE. ALSO, LOCK SHOULD DEFAULT TO UNLOCKED IF FAILS. NOT LOCKED AS YOU CAN'T GET OF THE CAR. HONDA ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN 14-083 AND 084 WHICH IDENTIFIES THE PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE AN INVOLUNTARY UNTIMED RECALL AS THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. A SECONDARY ISSUE IS LOCAL DEALER DID NOT FOLLOW THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT. SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT SAYS DRIVER DOOR LOCK TO BE REPLACED WHETHER WORKING OR NOT. OCEAN HONDA, SANTA CRUZ CA. DID NOT DO THAT WHEN I BROUGHT IN DUE TO HONDA NOTIFICATION. HONDA REVISED ITS SERVICE BULLETIN TO INCLUDE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS..OCEAN HONDA DID NOT INFORM ME. THEY HAD CAR IN FOR AIR BAG RECALLS AND SERVICE EVERY 3 MONTHS. TRYING TO GET THEM TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY NOW AS WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED; BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE.

COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. NOW, MY FRONT-PASSENGERS DOOR AND TRUNK DO NOT OPEN, HOWEVER, NO LOUD SOUNDS ARE HAPPENING EXCEPT FOR THE RIGHT-SIDE BACK PASSENGER'S DOOR. I THOUGHT I COULD HANDLE THE SOUND, BUT NOW THIS ISSUE HAS PROGRESSED AND IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE EVERY TIME I USE MY CAR. MOST RECENTLY, ON 2/25/17 MY DAUGHTER AND I CAME HOME AND PARKED ALONG THE STREET FROM OUTSIDE OF MY HOME. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE STRAPPED IN HER CAR SEAT, UPON EXITING THE DRIVERS SIDE I CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE CAR LOCKED. I TRIED USING THE REMOTE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS THAT WERE STILL "FUNCTIONING" (DRIVERS SIDE DOOR & LEFT-SIDE BACK PASSENGERS DOOR) WHICH DID NOT WORK! I HAD TO USE THE CAR ALARM TO WAKE UP MY DAUGHTER TO SEE IF SHE COULD UNBUCKLE HERSELF BUT UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER SHE GOT OUT OF HER SEAT SHE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL TRYING TO OPEN THE DOORS THEY WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE EITHER. I MUST HAVE TRIED THE REMOTE AND USING THE ACTUAL KEY IN THE DRIVERS DOOR FOR A GOOD 5 MINUTES WHICH FELT LIKE AN ETERNITY. THIS MATTER IS A HUGE MANUFACTURING ISSUE THAT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED IN THE REPORTED ACTIVE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. WITH SOME HELP FROM A NEIGHBOR WE MANAGED TO GET THE DOOR OPEN TO GET MY DAUGHTER OUT. I'M TRULY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA AS I'VE NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH HONDA AS I FELT THAT HONDA IS EXCEPTIONALLY RELIABLE. AS OF YESTERDAY'S FIASCO INVOLVING MY DAUGHTER I WILL BE SEEKING OUT COUNSEL FROM A LITIGATOR ON THIS ISSUE SINCE IT SEEMS THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED, KNOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO PERSIST WHICH IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO HAVE YOUR OWN CHILDREN LOCKED INSIDE. HOWDY HONDA DEALERSHIP HERE IN AUSTIN TEXAS WAS ABLE TO HAVE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE BACK DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THE NEW ACTUATOR WAS GOING OFF CONTINUOUS IN ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE BACK DOORS. I TOOK BACK TO HOWDY HONDA, THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPROGRAM MY KEY TO STOP IT FROM TRYING TO CONTINUOUSLY LOCK THE BACK DOORS AS IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE NEW ACTUATOR WOULD WEAR OUT RAPIDLY FROM DOING THIS.. IF I AM DRIVING AND STOP AT A LIGHT OR CROSSING, ANYONE CAN JUST OPEN THE BACK DOOR AND HOP INSIDE MY CAR AND CAR JACK ME. ALSO, WITH THESE DOORS NOT LOCKING I CANNOT SET THE ALARM. THIS AFFECTS MY INSURANCE, AS I HAVE CAR INSURANCE STATING I HAVE AN ALARM SYSTEM - WELL IF MY CAR IS VANDALIZED OR STOLEN IT WILL COME BACK TO MY PROBLEM AS I DID NOT SET THE ALARM - I CANNOT SET THE ALARM THE BACK DOORS DO NOT EVER LOCK. DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RELOCK EVERYTIME YOU UNLOCK THE DOORS. IT STARTED WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE PASSENGER DOOR. TO UNLOCK DOORS YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY HIT UNLOCK BUTTON, THEN YOU HAVE HALF A SECOND TO GET DOOR OPEN BEFORE IT LOCKS AGAIN ON ITS OWN. THE WHOLE CAR BE UNLOCKED BUT YOU CAN'T GET INTO THE FRONT DOORS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD SOME KIND OF EMERGENCY, THE FRONT DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK OR OPEN LONG ENOUGH TO GET OUT. BACK TO DEALER, HAVING DISCOVERED THAT THE 2007 CR V HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKS. DEALER CLAIMED TO BE SURPRISED TO HEAR THIS. NO, HONDA WOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS A FLAW, AND I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE DOOR LOCKS FIXED. I TOLD THEM THAT THIS WAS HUGELY DANGEROUS, THAT RANDOMLY LOCKING DOORS WHICH WOULDN'T UNLOCK WERE A GENUINE HAZARD. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL HONDA CORPORATE TO NO AVAIL. ALSO, WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND WE ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE CAR; BOTH WITH THE BUTTONS ON EITHER THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE, OR THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB, THE DRIVERS SIDE LOCK MAKES AN UNUSUAL SOUND, LIKE THE DOOR IS ATTEMPTING TO LOCK, BUT SOMETHING IS "OFF TRACK". WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS UNABLE TO LOCK. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE CANNOT SET THE ALARM ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH ALLOWS ANYONE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AT THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE HATCHBACK. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT 70% OF THE TIME. FURTHER RESEARCH INTO THIS ISSUE SHOWS THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MALFUNCTION IN MOST HONDA CRVS BETWEEN THE YEARS 2007-2010. USUALLY OCCURS ON OR AROUND THE 50K MILE MARK, WHEN THE FACTORY WARRANTY IS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. WE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS ON OUR CR-V. THE LOCKS WILL NOT STAY OPEN FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS. ONE FOB KEY WILL OPEN THE DOOR. BUT WE HAVE TO BE READY TO OPEN THE DOOR AT THE EXACT SECOND WE HIT THE FOB. THE TURN KEY LOCK DOES NOT WORK. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WE FOUND THIS TO A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM TO MAKE THE TV NEWS IN TWO DIFFERENT STATES. BEFORE FILING THIS COMPLAINT, I CALLED HONDA CORP AND EXPLAINED OUR ISSUE WITH THE CR-V AND FOUND THEIR RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE TO BE VERY BLAZAY. I EXPLAINED OUR RESEARCH FINDINGS AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE TO SEE IF IT IS A HONDA DEFECT OR OUR PROBLEM. THERE IS A CHARGE FOR THAT AS WELL. ALSO IN DOING THE RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT DOING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ALL THE DOORS WILL EVENTUALLY NEED A NEW ACTUATOR. THE PRICE IS $350 OR MORE PER DOOR. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE LOCK ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR OF MY 2007 HONDA CR-V WOULD ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE LOCK SHIFTED EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, THEN WOULD CONTINUE TO UNLOCK AND RE-LOCK EVERY TIME I WENT ABOVE/BELOW 15 MPH. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, HOWEVER, THE LOCK WOULD RE-ENGAGE AND THE CAR WOULD REMAIN LOCKED. NOW THE LOCK ON THIS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AT ALL, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE LOCK ALSO DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. THE REMOTE LOCK DOES NOT WORK, EVEN THOUGH THE HORN BEEPS AND THE LOCKS ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE AS IF THE VEHICLE DOORS WERE ALL LOCKED AND REMAIN LOCKED. THIS MORNING (JULY 1, 2013) THE BACK REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED THIS ISSUE DURING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, AT WHICH TIME A HONDA-CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN AT LEHIGH VALLEY HONDA TOLD ME THAT HE HAD "NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM" AND IT WOULD "PROBABLY JUST CLICK BACK INTO PLACE." I LATER MADE MENTION OF THE SAME PROBLEM DURING MY INSPECTION TWO WEEKS AGO, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE THAT DAY. I JUST SPOKE WITH THE SAME LOCATION AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 5 TO SEE IF THEY CAN "DIAGNOSE" THE PROBLEM. THE MANAGER TOLD ME HE DIDN'T WANT TO "DIAGNOSE THIS OVER THE PHONE" BUT INSIST THEY GIVE THE VEHICLE A COMPLETE WORKUP -- WHICH I AM FINE WITH, SO LONG AS I AM NOT BEING CHARGED FOR LABOR. THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY REAL SAFETY ISSUE, AS DOOR LOCKS THAT BECOME DISENGAGED WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING WOULD PUT ANYONE IN FEAR OF HAVING SMALL CHILDREN OR PETS IN THE BACK SEAT. ON MONDAY JUNE 24, 2013, I PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, FASTENED THEIR CAR SEATS, WALKED AROUND TO MY DRIVER DOOR TO FIND IT LOCKED. MY CHILDREN WERE LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. (THANK GOODNESS I WAS STILL AT HOME AND WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE SPARE KEY) THE CAR IS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING ITSELF WITHIN SECONDS OF THE UNLOCK BUTTON BEING PRESSED ON THE REMOTE. IT LOCKS AND UNLOCKS ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AT THIS POINT (JULY 1, 2013) THIS AGAIN POSES A LARGE HAZARD TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN IN A CAR WHOSE DOORS UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY DEFECT! ON JUNE 10, 2013 I BROUGHT MY 2007 CRV INTO HONDA NORTH, DANVERS, MA TO GET MY ANNUAL INSPECTION & A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE. I MENTIONED I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WHICH WAS STARTING TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE DIAGNOSTIC UNCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY ACTUATOR AND ON 6/28/13 I HAD THIS REPLACED FOR $325. ON 6/29/13, ONE DAY LATER ALL "4" DOORS HAD PROBLEMS. MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN GOT LOCKED IN THE CAR WITH IT RUNNING WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF THE DRIVER DOOR TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING FROM THE HATCH BACK. WHEN I CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR, ALL "4" DOORS LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY AND MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN WERE LOCKED INSIDE!!! I CAN NO LONGER USE THE REMOTE KEY TO OPEN THE DOORS, WHEN I MANUALLY OPEN THE DOORS I HAVE 2 SECONDS BEFORE ALL "4" DOORS LOCK TO GET INSIDE. WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS (MAYBE APRIL OF 2013), THE DRIVERS' SIDE DOOR ALSO CAME DOWN WITH THE SAME UNLOCKING PROBLEM. LAST TUESDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 26, 2013, THE SIMPLE CLICKING SOUND WHICH ACCOMPANIED THE UNLOCKING ACTION WAS REPLACED WITH A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. GENERALLY THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING FROM A STANDING STILL SITUATION TO MOVING FORWARD. I SAW THIS MORNING THAT IT HAPPENED AT 10 MPH, BUT SOMETIMES IT JUST HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES CONSECUTIVELY. THE CAR CANNOT BE LOCKED, SO THE DOOR COULD BE OPENED WHILE IN MOTION, OR IT COULD BE ENTERED BY ANYONE AT ANY TIME. I KNOW MINE IS NOT THE ONLY CAR OF THIS MODEL TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IF THERE WERE AN ACCIDENT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT PEOPLE IN THE CAR WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT, ESPECIALLY IF THE ACCIDENT RESULTED IN A CAR FIRE. IN ADDITION, WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT THEM FROM OPENING THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. I FOUND PIECES OF TUBING IN THIS AREA, ALSO. LOOKING FURTHER, I FOUND INSULATION THAT MICE HAD MOVED FROM AN UNKNOWN AREA, TO MAKE THEIR NEST. WITH SOME DIFFICULTY, I FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL FROM A HONDA REP, IN CALIFORNIA. AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES OF DISCUSSION, IN A PEACEFUL MANNER, I WAS NOT OFFERED ANY SOLUTION TO THE MICE PROBLEM, AS I WAS TRYING TO GET HONDA TO HELP ME DETERMINE WHERE THE POINT OF ENTRY WAS LOCATED AT, IN THE CAR BODY, THAT WOULD ALLOW MICE TO GAIN ENTRY. THIS MORNING CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN, FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCESS OF LOCKING AND UNLOCKING, LIGHTS COME ON AND CAR WOULD START (NO BLINKING RADIO THOUGH). DROVE INTO WORK, STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, STARTED TO DRIVE (MOVED ABOUT 50 FEET) AND DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THEN CAR STALLED AND TURNED OFF. CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. GOOD SAMARITAN MESSED WITH IT AND MANAGED TO GET IT INTO NEUTRAL SO IT COULD BE PUSHED TO SIDE OF ROAD. SAID THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD BEEN ENGAGED WHICH IS WHY IT WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM PARK? BEFORE WE ACTUALLY KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING WE NOTICED A BURNING RUBBER SMELL RIGHT AFTER WE GOT MY HONDA CR-V. THOUGHT MAYBE THIS THE WAY IT SMELLS WHEN WE TRAVEL MOUNTAINS. WE LIVE IN A VERY MOUNTAINOUS AREA. FOUND OUT AFTER 83000 THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH PREMATURE FAILURE OF AC COMPRESSOR. SO THEN IT HAPPENS THE A C STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE TEMP OUTSIDE WAS OVER 107 DEGREES. I TOOK THE CAR THE NEAREST GARAGE, NO HONDA DEALERS COULD LOOK AT MY CAR FOR AT LEAST 1 WEEK. SO THE GARAGE I TOOK IT TOO SD THAT THEY NOTICED BLUE ON THE METAL OF THE COMPRESSOR HOUSING AND AROUND THE PULLEY. NO WEAR OR TEARING ON THE BELT THOUGH. THE GARAGE MECHANIC C SD THAT THE BLUE ON THE HOUSING MEANT THAT THE METAL ON THE HOUSING WAS GETTING REALLY HOT, WHICH WOULD ACCT OR THE SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER. I HAVE NOT HAD REPAIRED BECAUSE MY GARAGE CANNOT FIND AN AC COMPRESSOR IN NORTH AMERICA. SO LUCKILY NO ACCIDENTS OR FIRES BUT TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

2007 HONDA AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTION. IN DECEMBER 2010 THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE BACK DOOR BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. HONDA MADE ME PAY FOR IT AND THEY REIMBURSED 1/2 SINCE I WAS PAST WARRANTY. NOW ITS APRIL 2011 AND HERE I AM AGAIN THE PASSENGER SIDE IS LOCKING THEN POPS OPEN AGAIN. IT WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. I AM AT HONDA AND IT IS GOING TO COST $238.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE DOOR LOOKS. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL OPEN TO CARJACKERS AS I CANNOT LOCK MY DOORS. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE LOGGED SAME ISSUE ONLINE. DEALERS DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. HONDA OF AMERICA SAY THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THERE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON SEVERAL JAPANESE BRANDED CARS WHEN DRIVING AT DUSK. MANY NEWER VEHICLES (HONDA CRV-CIVIC, LEXUS RX-LS, NISSAN VERSA) WITH LED OR ELECTRO-FLUORESCENT INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS ARE LIT ANYTIME THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT BE SET TO OPERATE ON AUTO ON LAMPS. THIS LEADS TO THE ASSUMPTION BY THE DRIVER THAT THE HEADLAMPS AND TAIL LAMPS ARE ON WHEN REALLY THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE. AFTER NOTICING THIS HAPPEN ON A LOT OF HONDA/TOYOTA/NISSAN CARS OF IN TRAFFIC, I WONDERED WHY THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED SUCH VEHICLES YET. WOULD THERE BE THE POSSIBILITY TO MAKE A REQUIREMENT FOR THESE AUTOMAKERS TO PLACE A WARNING LIGHT TO WARN THEM IN THESE SITUATIONS? IT SEEMS THAT AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN MAKES DON?T HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM ALSO AFFECTS VEHICLES OF JAPANESE NAMEPLATES THAT HAVE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS. THIS LOW INTENSITY BEAM ALSO GIVES THE DRIVER THE SENSE THAT THE LAMPS ARE ON, WHEN THEY ARE AT A LOW LEVEL, AND THE REAR TAIL LAMPS ARE ACTUALLY OFF. I HAVE SEEN A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES, WITH DRLS AFTER DUSK WHEN IS IT NOT CLEAR TO THE DRIVER THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. AFTER RENTING AN 08 NISSAN VERSA, I TOO HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCUR ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THE LIT CLUSTER INDICATED TO ME THAT MY LIGHTS WERE ON, BUT IN REALITY, I WAS DRIVING AROUND WITH MY LIGHTS OFF, AND I REALIZED THIS 10 MINUTES AFTER THE FACT. AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO TELL FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE BY TOGGLING THE SWITCH ON/OFF, BECAUSE THERE IS NO FEEDBACK FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHEN THESE LAMPS ARE ON OR OFF. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AND I HOPE RECALLS CAN BE EFFECTIVELY PROPOSED TO PREVENT INJURIES OR DEATHS FROM HAPPENING, AS I DO FEEL THAT THIS IS A LARGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE JAPANESE AUTOMAKERS HAVE OVERLOOKED. WE PURCHASED A NEW HONDA CRV 2007 FOR MY DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE IN OCTOBER 2006 FROM ED VOYLES HONDA, MARIETTA, GA. IN APRIL OF 2007 MY DAUGHTER HAD TROUBLE STARTING THE CAR AFTER IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN AND LEFT PARKED FOR A HOUR OR MORE. SHE HAD TO CRANK THE ENGINE FOR 10-20 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD START. WE DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM IN E-MAIL TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK THE CAR IN ON MORE THAN THREE OCCASIONS. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. DURING JULY 2007 WE LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE WEEKS FOR THEM TO TRY AND RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP CONSULTED WITH THE HONDA TECH-LINE AND THEY COULD STILL NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. DURING THE PAST SEVEN MONTHS WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING MORE THAN 15 TIMES TO DIFFERENT DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLE. ON SUNDAY 10-14-2007 IN FRUSTRATION I GAVE MY CAR TO MY DAUGHTER TO TAKE BACK TO COLLEGE SINCE THE HONDA CRV WAS PROVING TO BE TOO UNRELIABLE. ON THE DAY I DROVE THE CRV AND SURE ENOUGH AFTER HAVING PARKED THE CAR FOR 3 HOURS IT TOOK ME 24 MINUTES OF CRANKING TO START THE CAR. ONCE THE CAR STARTED I DROVE FOR TWO MILES AND THEN IT JUST CUT-OUT. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION FOR 3 TERRIFYING MINUTES OF CRANKING THE ENGINE BEFORE IT STARTED AGAIN. WE HAVE NOW RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE HAVE A RENTAL FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE HONDA CRV 2007 HAS PROVED TO BE VERY UNRELIABLE AND AS A PARENT I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS CAR. WE HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AND THINK THAT HONDA USA SHOULD NOW REMEDY THE SITUATION. TO BEGIN, I RECENTLY PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM MANLY HONDA, IN MARIN COUNTY, CA, EARLIER THIS JAN/FEB OF 2007 A BRAND-NEW 2007 HONDA CR-V EXL, $28K. A FIRST-TIME CAR BUYER, I HAD PAID IN FULL USING MY HARD-EARNED MONEY WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE A RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE AND TROUBLE-FREE CAR. ALAS, I BEGAN NOTICING SOME IRREGULARITIES WITH THE CAR SOON THEREAFTER. TO NAME BUT A FEW, THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1) A TAPPING SOUND IN THE BACK OF MY CAR; 2) A WET SPOT NOTED ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE UNDER THE HOOD AREA; 3) INTERMITTENT INABILITY TO START THE CAR WHEREBY THE BATTERY LIGHT WOULD COME ON; AND 4) INABILITY TO ACCELERATE, BUT SUDDEN SURGE THEREAFTER WHEN DRIVING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2007. LATER THAT AFTERNOON I RECEIVED A CALL FROM SF HONDA, THE SERVICE DEALER, TO ADVISE THAT: 1) THE TAPPING SOUND IN THE BACK OF MY CAR IS DUE TO A WELDING DEFECT. HAVING JACKED UP THE CAR AND REMOVED ALL THE BACK PANELS TO THE VEHICLE, THEY HAD DETERMINED THAT THE DEFECTIVE WELD OR WELDS WERE LOCATED FURTHER WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND MY CAR WOULD NEED TO BE SENT TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP TO BE FURTHER STRIPPED APART TO DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF DEFECTIVE WELDS IN QUESTION. 2) A POWDER TEST PERFORMED ON MY ENGINE HAD DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. 3) THEY HAD YET TO DETERMINE WHY MY CAR WOULD FAIL TO START AND THE BATTERY LIGHT APPEAR; AND 4) THE SUDDEN SURGING OF MY VEHICLE ONCE I HAD STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR WAS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION.
