The contact owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while attempting to shift into gear, the vehicle was shaking and difficult to shift into gear. The engine and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V395000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have dumped around 6k into this car and the issues span several different mechanics and a towing company. I stopped into a Firestone tire where they sold me new tires, struts, brakes, and a lifetime alignment. They didn’t do the alignment which destroy the 70k miles tires in 10k at which point they told me it was my fault for not getting an alignment. I said you charged me for the lifetime alignment. They took no ownership and after I got infuriated with the lack of support they banned me from calling any Firestone. Corporate won’t call me back. Fast forward and my car started doing the death wobble. I bought a new rack, pressure line, and oil pan as the pan was leaking. I guess when they did the oil change at Firestone they used an impact wrench and it was leaking from the oil bolt. I purchase the oil pan, gaskets, and oil. I posted up in a parking lot and jacked the car up. For one reason or another I couldn’t finish it on my own so I had a company c&s towing tow the car to Juan Carlos’ garage. C&s towing dragged the car in the flat bed breaking a range of things from a motor mount to a possible cv axle. The car is popping and is non functioning now. I got the car to Juan Carlos’s garage a week later after spending $500 in towing. Mr Carlos told me he only accepted cash and upon further questioning him while filming him he openly stated he accepted card. When I asked him why he profile me he had no response. The car is running worse than ever after it came back from Juan Carlos’s garage. The timing cover gasket he said he replaced is leaking. The oil cover gasket he said he replaced is leaking. He broke off a bolt in the timing cover and it looks like there is an entire bracket missing from the side where the timing cover is. The car is making terrible noise and the transmission is slipping now. I am very unsure why or how I have paid these people to work on my car. When it just gets worse. I got a credit card with Firestone and they won’t call me back to speak
When accelerating up to 50 MPH, vehicle shakes between 40 and 50 mph. Vehicle also accelerates on its own when in traffic at random times.
The Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Control Module (TCM, PCM) malfunctioned. My safety was at risk because the incident happened while I was operating the vehicle. No. No. The banging noise scared me so much that I turned off the vehicle without looking for warning messages.
TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AND IT OFTEN SHUDDERS WHEN YOU DRIVE THE CAR WITH LOW RPMS. IF YOU GIVE IT MORE GAS IT STOPS SHUDDERING. NONETHELESS SHIFTING IS REALLY POOR FOR A BRAND WITH A GOOD REPUTATION.

I HAD THE AIRBAGS AND LOCK CONTROLS REPLACED PER THE RECALL NOTICES. ABOUT 1 MONTH AFTER THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT MY AIR CONDITIONER STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR ON AND OFF. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHICH SUPPOSEDLY WAS SENT OUT AS BULLETIN #12-072. I DID HAVE A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY ON MY CAR I THOUGHT BUT I AM TOLD IT WAS ONLY FOR 3 YEARS AND THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AFTER 7 YEARS ON MY CERTIFIED USED CAR WARRANTY. I WOULD NOT HAVE IGNORED THE RECALL WARNING.

WE FOUND IT VERY UNUSUAL THAT A POWER STEERING HOSE WOULD CORRODE GIVEN THE FACT THAT WE BOUGHT THE HONDA NEW AND IT HAD BEEN RECENTLY SERVICED AND INSPECTED AT THE COST OF OVER $500.00 LAST YEAR. THE HONDA DEALER FOUND LEAKING POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE AND ALSO REPLACED THE COOLER LINE WHICH WAS TOO RUSTED. THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR WAS $762.46!! WE DON'T KNOW IF HONDA USED INFERIOR QUALITY HOSES BUT IT SURE SEEMS LIKE IT BECAUSE I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE MY POWER STEERING HOSE FOR MY 1994 TOYOTA PICKUP TRUCK & HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM REMOTELY RELATED TO "CORROSION" OR "RUSTING" ACCORDING TO THE HONDA TECHNICIAN'S SERVICE REPORT. WE ARE A TWO CAR OWNERSHIP FAMILY AND ONE OF THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 HONDA CRV AND AROUND 40,000 MILES THE CAR BEGAN VIBRATING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 38 TO 43 MPH. CONTACTED MY HONDA DEALER, LEE HONDA, AND THEY ARE VEHEMENT IN STATING THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH CRV AND THE VIBRATION MAYBE DUE TO DIFFERENTIAL FLUID NEEDING FLUSHING. ALSO DEALER STATED IT MAY BE DUE TO FRONT-END ALIGNMENT. NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED, FRONT-END ALIGNMENT DONE AND WHAT WAS AN INFREQUENT OCCURRENCE IS NOT AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE. HONDA DEALER IS STILL ADAMANT IT MAYBE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID NEEDING FLUSHING. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC HAS FOUND THE BULLETIN THAT REFERENCES THE NEED TO FLUSH THE DIFFERENTIAL, POSSIBLY TWICE. WHAT POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP HONDA ADVERTISES THE DEALERSHIP BY NOT BEING HONEST ABOUT IT'S PROBLEM. IT WILL BE MY LAST HONDA. I AM CURRENTLY SEEKING TO TRADE OUR OTHER VEHICLE AND IT WILL NOT BE HONDA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THEN 6 MONTHS, WE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DIFFERENTIAL PER HONDA'S RECOMMENDATION. WE ARE A TWO CAR OWNERSHIP FAMILY AND ONE OF THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 HONDA CRV AND AROUND 40,000 MILES THE CAR BEGAN VIBRATING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 38 TO 43 MPH. CONTACTED MY HONDA DEALER, LEE HONDA, AND THEY ARE VEHEMENT IN STATING THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH CRV AND THE VIBRATION MAYBE DUE TO DIFFERENTIAL FLUID NEEDING FLUSHING. ALSO DEALER STATED IT MAY BE DUE TO FRONT-END ALIGNMENT. NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED, FRONT-END ALIGNMENT DONE AND WHAT WAS AN INFREQUENT OCCURRENCE IS NOT AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE. HONDA DEALER IS STILL ADAMANT IT MAYBE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID NEEDING FLUSHING. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC HAS FOUND THE BULLETIN THAT REFERENCES THE NEED TO FLUSH THE DIFFERENTIAL, POSSIBLY TWICE. 2007 HONDA CRV REAR DIFFERENTIAL NOISE BEGAN AT ABOUT30,000 MILES. I TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HONDA OF TURNERSVILLE, NJ. THEY TOLD ME THE NOISE WAS DUE TO WEAR OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID, THAT IT HAD TO BE CHANGED WHENEVER THE NOISE APPEARED, OR EVERY 20,000 MILES. THEY REPLACED THE FLUID FREE OF CHARGE, AND BURNISHED THE BEARINGS FOR THE FIRST TIME, BUT I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE IN THE FUTURE. I WAS TOLD IT DID NOT REPRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD AND THAT IT DID NOT DO MECHANICAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, NOR WOULD IT IN THE FUTURE. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE SERVICE MANUAL REGARDING THIS SERVICE CHANGE REQUIREMENT. I HAVE NOTICED SIGNIFICANT COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CRV OWNERS ON WEBSITES AND BLOGS. I HAVE ALSO SEEN REFERENCE TO "INFERIOR SUBGRADE" REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID USE BY HONDA ON THE SAME VEHICLES. *TR

THE DEALER SERVICE PEOPLE NEVER MENTIONED ANY PROBLEM WHEN WE DID REGULAR SERVICE UNTIL IT RAN OUT OF THE WARRANTY. NOW THEY "NOTICED" THE NOISE AND ADVISED US TO CHANGE THE FLUID. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ENCOUNTERED AN ICE STORM AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS BECAME VERY SLIPPERY. HE FELT THE VEHICLE POWER SURGE AND PULL ITSELF FROM ONE DIRECTION TO THE OTHER. THERE WAS A SHIFT IN POWER FROM WHEEL TO WHEEL. THE VEHICLE HAD ALL-WHEEL DRIVE AND THE CONTACT COULD FEEL IT ATTEMPTING TO ACTIVATE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY. 2007 HONDA CRV TURNED OUT TO BE VERY BAD ON SNOW AND/OR ICE COVERED ROADS. REAR END FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO KICK OUT TO THE RIGHT. TOOK IT TO BE SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID NEEDED TO BE DRAINED AND THE CLUTCHES BURNISHED. DROVE BETTER AFTER THAT, 6 WEEKS LATER CAR MAKING NOISE LIKE A BEARING WAS GOING OUT. WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR TIRES WERE CUPPED DUE TO NOT HAVING ROTATED THEM. CAR HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT. SINCE TIRES WERE ALREADY RUINED, I WAITED TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN TILL 30,000 MILES. NOW THE FRONT TIRES WERE BALD IN THE CENTER AND REAR TIRES STILL CUPPED. THEY DRAINED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID AGAIN AND AGAIN BURNISHED THE CLUTCHES AS WELL AS PERFORMED THE 30K SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE. 4K MILES LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON BAD ROADS, THE REAR END ONCE AGAIN FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO SLIDE OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT. FEELS LIKE IT NEEDS A COUPLE HUNDRED POUNDS OF EXTRA WEIGHT IN THE REAR. OH, FORGOT TO MENTION, HAVE HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AND TODAY HAD IT ALIGNED. I HAVE HAD 2 OTHER HONDA'S (ACCORDS). THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE OUT OF CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN WELDED PROPERLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE BODY SHOP AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,158 AND NO FAILURE MILEAGE.
TO BEGIN, I RECENTLY PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM MANLY HONDA, IN MARIN COUNTY, CA, EARLIER THIS JAN/FEB OF 2007 A BRAND-NEW 2007 HONDA CR-V EXL, $28K. A FIRST-TIME CAR BUYER, I HAD PAID IN FULL USING MY HARD-EARNED MONEY WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE A RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE AND TROUBLE-FREE CAR. ALAS, I BEGAN NOTICING SOME IRREGULARITIES WITH THE CAR SOON THEREAFTER. TO NAME BUT A FEW, THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1) A TAPPING SOUND IN THE BACK OF MY CAR; 2) A WET SPOT NOTED ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE UNDER THE HOOD AREA; 3) INTERMITTENT INABILITY TO START THE CAR WHEREBY THE BATTERY LIGHT WOULD COME ON; AND 4) INABILITY TO ACCELERATE, BUT SUDDEN SURGE THEREAFTER WHEN DRIVING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2007. LATER THAT AFTERNOON I RECEIVED A CALL FROM SF HONDA, THE SERVICE DEALER, TO ADVISE THAT: 1) THE TAPPING SOUND IN THE BACK OF MY CAR IS DUE TO A WELDING DEFECT. HAVING JACKED UP THE CAR AND REMOVED ALL THE BACK PANELS TO THE VEHICLE, THEY HAD DETERMINED THAT THE DEFECTIVE WELD OR WELDS WERE LOCATED FURTHER WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND MY CAR WOULD NEED TO BE SENT TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP TO BE FURTHER STRIPPED APART TO DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF DEFECTIVE WELDS IN QUESTION. 2) A POWDER TEST PERFORMED ON MY ENGINE HAD DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. 3) THEY HAD YET TO DETERMINE WHY MY CAR WOULD FAIL TO START AND THE BATTERY LIGHT APPEAR; AND 4) THE SUDDEN SURGING OF MY VEHICLE ONCE I HAD STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR WAS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION. UPON HEARING THIS, I WAS FLABBERGASTED. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A BRAND-NEW CAR, A HONDA WHICH IS NOTED FOR ITS RELIABILITY, WOULD ENCOUNTER SUCH PROBLEMS? AND AT 3,158 MILES? AND SIMULTANEOUSLY?
