Hello, I have a recall for the corrosion on my Honda CRV 2008, American Honda already has everything on file from the dealer ship I took to get it inspected and is been a whole month and American Honda hasn’t reached out to me. I have been asking American Honda if I could get a loaner car or rental as the service manager at the dealership has said he cannot provide a rental until American Honda authorized since obviously some one has to pay for it. And I’m just reaching out if you guys could help me anyway to help me get this sorted out, dealership has already told me the car is un repairable at this point due to the bad corrosion and American Honda has acknowledged that and said someone from the median department or something like that was gonna reach out to me that was 2 weeks ago and I have reached out a week ago and they said someone would reach out and I have not received anything as I have told them, I really need a car since I recently had my baby and you know I need to come to work and go back home. Please if you guys can help me
This is a complaint in reference to a current recall for the rear rust and corrosion issues on Honda CRvs, Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-228. I brought my vehicle to Matt Burne Honda on January 7 2025 for this recall and they "inspected" and passed the vehicle, installed the brace, and said all was well as they handed me the keys. In early March I took the car in for its state inspection and it failed due to all of the rust/corrosion/frame rot on the rear of this vehicle. When I called Matt Burne to find out why they installed the brace on this vehicle with all that rust, and why they never even bothered to mention the rust to me, they said that for the recall to pass all they needed to do was remove the bolt for the trailing arm and that all the rust didn't matter, and whether or not it could pass a state inspection didn't matter. This, put me and my family at risk. The rust and corrosion is severe. My family and I have been driving in it thinking it was all okay since the recall was completed. Yet they never thought to mention it. Isn't this recall in reference to rust and corrosion on the rear frame? Yes, I understand it involves the trailing arm, but wasn't there a punch test and a frame inspection that was supposed to be a part of this? How is it that the frame can rot away and practically disintegrate and yet that doesn't matter? After a month of trying to reach Honda, they finally told me I needed to take it to a Honda dealer because the 2 inspection centers I had taken it to weren't good enough. I wound up taking to to Motorworld Honda for an "inspection" and all they did was look at the installed brace and say everything was good, even though that at this point they were now unable to put the car on the lift since that spot on the frame has rusted away. In March it was able to be put on the lift? What happened since? And how is this acceptable as far as this recall is concerned? They put my life and the lives of my family at risk as well as others.
The contact’s son owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his son was driving 45 MPH, the vehicle aggressively veered over to the right side of the road. The driver inspected the vehicle and noticed that the rear axle had detached from the frame. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who was unable to fix the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure); because parts were not available, and there were additional damages that needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was working with the dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and the vehicle was repaired under the recall; however, the contact was informed that the dealer had observed a 3X8 inch hole located 2 inches away from where the support brace was installed. The contact stated that despite the hole, the dealer determined that the vehicle was safe to drive, and the vehicle passed inspection. The contact believed that the recall repair failed to adequately address the safety concerns of the recall, potentially leaving the vehicle with a rear trailing arm that could still detached in the future. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed regarding a possible buyback; however, the request was denied due to the age of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 211,600.
Mileage: 211,600
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact that there was an extreme amount of rust to the frame of the vehicle. The bolts failed to release due to the extreme rust. The vehicle was not able to be placed on the lift due to frame rust. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 133,267. Parts distribution disconnect.

Two actuator for the doors were said to be replaced by the previous owner in 2015. However, all four of my actuators are not working. Sometimes, it unlocks by itself when driving and I have had issues at times when I am not able to unlock the door at all. This poses safety risk to not being able to get out at times from both inside and outside.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) however, the recall repair could not be completed due to the extent of corrosion on the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received over a year ago and the inspection was completed 8 months ago. Also, as per the recall notification, depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda might offer to repurchase the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall repair could not be completed due to the extensive corrosion. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact stated no offer was made, however a case was opened. Parts distribution disconnect.
When i unlock the key fob and put hand break to park the driver side door makes a loud squeeky sound.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle into an independent mechanic for service, the contact was made aware that the rear trailing arm had severe frame corrosion, potentially compromising the vehicle safety. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis and advised the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Evidence of corrosion on the rear trailing arms as described in the recent salt belt recall of 07-11 Honda CRV’s. Petition to expand the monitoring and repair scope of this recall to include the Appalachian regions of North Carolina and Tennessee as the use of road salt is also prevalent in these areas.
On October 9, 2022, I filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding this vehicle due to excessive and extreme rear frame corrosion. On May 6, 2023, my son was driving this vehicle and was involved in an incident while the vehicle was in motion. The rear subframe separated from the vehicle on the driver side. My son lost control of the vehicle. Fortunately, my son was able to avoid a direct collision with oncoming traffic. On May 15, 2023, the vehicle was towed to Victory Honda in Monroe, Michigan. The vehicle was inspected, and we were assigned a case number (#13814983). We were promised a loaner vehicle (which has never been made available). As a result, my son had to resign his position at work because he lost his mode of transportation. I have called American Honda on a weekly basis requesting an update. I've been told our case is almost completed. We have been waiting for more than 4 months for the buyback as promised. We were told we would be getting $7,900 for the CR-V, plus out of pocket costs paid for a rental car on two occasions and payment for recent mechanical improvements. Honda USA has failed to resolve this manner in a reasonable and timely manner. 100+ days is not timely. We have lost income due to the loss of use of this vehicle. We have not been provided the loaner vehicle as promised. Please escalate our complaint. This is the second time this matter is being reported to the NHTSA. Please note, this is more serious now since my son was driving the vehicle when the subframe separated. He could have been killed or badly injured.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not install a support brace on the vehicle because unknown bolts failed to loosen for the repair. The dealer had not provided any additional information regarding the failure. The contact was informed that photos had been sent to the manufacturer and the dealer was awaiting a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that an assessment and follow up would be made. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and an unknown door latch recall; however, while driving after the vehicle was returned, the contact became that the doors were no longer closing securely, and the vehicle failed to respond immediately while depressing the brake pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the dealer had stated in the recall repair work order that the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) could not be completed on the vehicle due to severe frame corrosion and that the sub frame needed to be replaced; however, the dealer installed support braces on the vehicle and marked the recall as Complete. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake caliper had seized. The independent mechanic notified the contact that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 402,685.

The rear frame of my CRV has corroded and deteriorated. The rear trailing arm is at risk of falling off and could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall paperwork I received from American Honda Motor Co. Inc. states, “Your Honda dealer will inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the extent of corrosion, the dealer may attach a support brace to the rear frame and/or repair the rear frame, for FREE. If the rear frame cannot be repaired, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle from you. If you paid out of pocket to have these specific recall repairs performed on your vehicle, you may be eligible for reimbursement.” I took my vehicle to Honda North for the repair. They attached the support brace, yet told me my vehicle is still unsafe to drive and refused to pass my vehicle for the required PA state inspection. I believe they need to move to the next step on the recall (repair of the rear frame) since the addition of the support brace did nothing to correct the safety issue on my vehicle. I took my vehicle to get two second opinions and both stated the vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the rear frame corrosion. I do not understand how Honda can put out a recall specific to the rear frame, then refuse to make the appropriate corrections so that the vehicle is safe. Why bother attaching the support brace if it does nothing to correct the reason for Honda’s recall? I filed a complaint with American Honda, but I have not heard back from them in 3 1/2 weeks although I call daily. I was quoted $3000 for these repairs by an independent body shop.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. However, the dealer fractured the rear trailing arm bolts while inspecting the vehicle and informed the contact that they could not complete the recall repair due to corrosion. The dealer advised the contact that the manufacturer was notified of the issue, and the dealer was awaiting a decision from the manufacturer whether to buy back the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was undrivable and he had not received assistance from the manufacturer or the dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact self-inspected the vehicle and noticed that the power steering fluid level was low. The contact filled the power steering fluid reservoir; however, two days later, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the passenger’s side front ball joints were replaced, the power steering kit was installed, and the drive belt was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,500.

Honda is aware of an issue affecting many CR-V's. Honda has recently issued a recall of the 2007-2011 model-year CR-V's in Canada for a rusting problem that could result in a rear suspension control arm separating from the vehicle. This recall applies to vehicles in all provinces from Ontario east, which experience heavy road salt usage and humid operating environments. Dealers were instructed to inspect the rear frame stiffeners and to apply corrosion protection. When a vehicle does not pass the inspection, Honda will offer to repurchase it. My son is 17 years old and is driving an affected CR-V. We live near Detroit in Michigan. I contacted Honda USA and lodged a complaint. I was given the following case #013293139 and instructed to set an appointment with a local Honda dealership for an inspection. Following the inspection, I was told and given a service invoice which stated, "SUBFRAME INSPECTION FOR HONDA CASE NUMBER 13293139 TECH FOUND REAR OF FRAME RUSTED THROUGH, TECH ADVISED STARTING WITH REMOVING REAR PART OF FRAME AND WELDING IN NEW METAL. VEHICLE NOT SAFE TO OPERATE IN CURRENT CONDITION. AMERICAN HONDA WILL NOT COVER REPAIR." This rust problem also affects other Honda vehicles and Honda is slowly issuing recalls. Recently, American Honda recalled 2006-2014 Ridgelines for "Rear Frame Corrosion." I would like Honda to repair my son's CR-V. This is not normal wear and tear. The corrosion problem continues to be focused on the rear driver side (subframe mounting to frame) of Honda vehicles. This is not safe for the public and this is not an acceptable response from American Honda as noted in the service invoice response listed above.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 20-25 MPH, the rear passenger's side frame stiffeners detached and separated from the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. Additionally, the contact stated that the frame stiffeners were severely rusted. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 262,000.

This vehicle had a wheel separation while traveling at low speed. The right rear wheel separated from the car. The cause is excessive rust to the trailing arm and specifically to the subframe to which the trailing arm is attached. The car is available for inspection. I also have photographs that show the problem. The safety issue is clear. After separation the car cannot be controlled if in motion. This particular vehicle has not been inspected. The wheel separation was reported by me to Honda in North America, to "Chris" in "client relations." A case number was issued for my complaint, #00499145. An insurance claim was made, but the insurer denied the claim. My research shows that this model CRV has been recalled in Canada for this precise problem. In Canada, Honda states that this model CRV has "excessive" rust, leading to failure. Further, that the problem is not readily apparent on inspection, and in fact this car is inspected annually as part of North Carolina licensure, and no inspection ever revealed the excessive rust threat. Here is the Honda press release: " January 23, 2019 Honda has voluntarily recalled approximately 83,953 2007-2011 CR-V vehicles in Canada to address potential excessive corrosion to the rear frame stiffener(s). On affected vehicles, one or both rear frame stiffener(s) may become excessively corroded over time. Such excessive corrosion may be more prevalent where a vehicle is regularly operated in regions where road de-icing salt is frequently used during the winter season. Although a certain amount of corrosion is expected to occur from everyday operation of the vehicle, excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle’s frame structure. A separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash."
I had my car in the shop as I had an issue with my starter. The mechanic sent us photos as he found as serious problem with rust and corrosion around the rear axle. He thought it would be okay to drive home (not after that). He was wrong and the rear axle fell off. My dad was driving and as far as I know he is okay. I did research and it seems the Vins starting with 5 were made in Ohio (I bought the car in Ohio) and it the message boards are correct, were in the same batch as the Canadian ones they recalled. They have not recalled these in the U.S. for the rear axle but they did in Canada. Why? I drive my son every other weekend hours each way as his dad lives out of state. We travel I-65, I-70, and highways. We could have died! Honda needs to recall these immediately before someone dies. Please let me know if you need more photos. I will take more photos when the tow driver gets my car home.
THE ENTIRE VEHICLES PAINT IS BLOTCHY. AS IF ACID WAS MIXED IN WITH A BAD BATCH OF PAINT.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A LICENSED GARAGE TO BE INSPECTED.THEY TOLD ME THE REAR FRAME STIFFENERS IN MY VEHICLE ARE CORRODED AND WILL NOT PASS NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION. I WAS ALSO WARNED IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY CAR AS THE REAR TIRE ATTACHES TO THE RUSTED OUT SPOT ON THE FRAME. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE REAR TIRE ASSEMBLY TO DETACH WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL IN CANADA FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR THE YEARS 2007 TO 2011. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL IN THE US.

THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED OR EITHER OPEN BY REMOTE OR MANUAL ALSO CAN'T BE OPEN OPEN. MY DAUGHTER WAS STUCK IN THE CAR COULDN'T GET OUT WHEN WE REALIZED THE PROBLEM 10 DAYS AGO. LUCKILY IT WAN'T AN EMERGENCY SITUATION OTHERWISE I COULDN'T IMAGE THAT. ALSO THE TRUNK LOCK HAS BEEN DEAD SINCE THEN. THE RIGHT RARE DOOR HAS VERY LOUD CLICKING NOISE WHEN I LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOOR. THAT RAISE A GREAT WORRY FOR ME IF THE REST OF DOOR WOULD BE DEAD IN THE FUTURE.
THE PASSAGE SIDE DOOR LOCK MAKES A SCARING NOISE WHEN LOCKING. DIAGNOSED BY A HONDA DEALER AS A DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE WITH A PUBLISHED HONDA TSB (#14-084). I HAD TO PAY FOR REPLACING THE ACTUATOR (BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY). IT IS NOT FAIR THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART USED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

HONDA REPLACED BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAGS. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT APRIL 2017. I WAS BROADSIDED, DRIVERS DOOR WAS IMPACTED. MY HEAD WENT HROUGH THE DRIVERS WINDOW. NONE OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS INFLATED. THE BODY SHOP WAS DISTURBED THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE BEEN IN PHYSICAL THERAPY SINCE THE ACCIDENT. THE VA HAS BEEN SUPPLYING MEDICAL TREATMENT. HONDA DENIED RESPONSIBILITY ALTHOUGH THEY NEVER SAW THE CAR. MY INSURANCE COMPANY PROGRESSIVE WILL NOT REPAIR THE FAULTY AIRBAGS BECAUSE THEY WERE FAULTY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. WESTPORT HONDA WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR IS NOT INTERESTED IN TAKING IT AS A TRADE IN BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN AIRBAG PROBLEM. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I CAN'T SELL THE CAR WITHOUT REVEALING THE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT WARNING INDICATING THE SIDE AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING. THE INDICATOR IS OFF MOST OF THE TIME. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO COME ON AND HOW LONG IT'S GOING TO BE ON. HONDA INDICATED TO ME THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE TESTED AT MY EXPENSE. I AM DISABLED AND CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS DONE. OR ABLE TO TRAVEL TO SUCH A FACILITY.

DRIVER WAS PARKED/IDLING IN PARKING LOT WHEN LOUD EXPLOSION HAPPENED. DRIVER THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD REAR ENDED HER. TWO BYSTANDERS WERE CONCERNED AND CAME OVER TO CHECK ON DRIVER. THEY SAID NO ONE HAD HIT HER. THEY FOUND A FILTER, GASKET AND A PIECE OF INSULATION UNDER THE CAR. UPON INSPECTION DRIVER SAW THAT THE FRONT BUMPER HAD PARTIALLY BLOWN OUT FROM THE CAR, IT WAS DETACHED UNDER THE HOOD, UNDER THE GRILL AND AROUND THE WHEEL WELL. ALSO A LARGE CHUNK OF WHEEL WELL IS MISSING. CAR WAS TOWED TO DRIVER'S MECHANIC. MECHANIC DETERMINED THE A/C COMPRESSOR EXPLODED, SUBSEQUENTLY BLOWING SHRAPNEL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM, RUINING THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AS WELL AS CAUSING SAID BODY DAMAGE. MECHANIC ALSO DETERMINED THAT THE FILTER, GASKET AND SOCK HAD BLOWN OUT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE A/C COMPRESSOR, THE BLAST FROM THE EXPLOSION WAS THE APPARENT CAUSE OF THE BODY DAMAGE. A COMPLETE REPORT FROM A BODY SHOP WILL BE OBTAINED TODAY. DRIVER WAS QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT THE MASSIVE DAMAGE DONE AND HOW EASILY SOMEONE NEAR THE CAR AT THE TIME COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. DRIVER WAS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT HER RESPONSE WOULD HAVE BEEN IF SHE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE TIME OF EXPLOSION. I AM CONSTANTLY REPLACING, TAIL LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, THIRD BRAKE LIGHTS AND REVERSE LIGHTS! ALL THE LOCKS WHINE WHEN I PUT MY VEHICLE IN DRIVE. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD COST ME $1200.00 TO REPLACE THEM ALL ! I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY ALL NEED REPLACING! MY LAMP LIGHT IS OUT AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $180.00 TO FIX THAT! I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY BACK HATCH REPAINTED, AND NOW ABOVE MY WINDSHIELD AND GRILL NEED TO BE REPAINTED! WHATS GOING TO NEED REPAINTING NEXT?! I CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE MY CRV REPAINTED, AND IT IS EMBARRASSING! I HAND WASH MY CRV WITH SPECIAL CLOTHS! IF HONDA WANTS ME CONTINUE BUYING THEIR VEHICLES, THEY HAD BETTER DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!! I HAD MY MOTHER-IN-LAW IN THE LEFT REAR SEAT OF MY 2008 HONDA CRV AND WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION AND I UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS BY USING MY KEY UNLOCK FEATURE. MY MOTHER-IN-LAW COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR AND MY SPOUSE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO GET OUT AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I DID AND THE DOOR OPENED. SO, I ROLLED DOWN THE LEFT REAR GLASS AND CLOSED AND LOCKED ALL THE DOORS. I UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS AND REACHED IN AND TRIED OPENING THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN, BUT THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE OPENED THE DOOR. I HAVE THE 2008 CR-V. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, ALL MY DOOR LOCKS STARTED AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THEMSELVES AT AROUND 9 OR 10 MILES PER HOUR. I'M AFRAID TO LET MY KIDS RIDE IN THE BACK SEAT NOW. WHAT IF ONE OF THEM DECIDED TO HANG ON TO THE DOOR HANDLE AND IT OPENED ACCIDENTALLY WHILE WE WERE MOVING? IN AUGUST OF 2012, THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED. WE HAD THE FAULTY PART REPLACED. NOW IN JUNE OF 2013, WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR LOCK. IT BEGAN BY NOT STAYING UNLOCKED. WHEN UNLOCKED THE DOOR BY ( ANY METHOD), THE LOCK WOULD ONLY STAY UNLOCKED FOR LESS THAN A SECOND BEFORE RELOCKING ON ITS OWN. NOW THE PROBLEM HAS CHANGED TO WHERE THE DOOR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED AS IN THE PROBLEM DOOR LOCK FROM LAST YEAR. THE DOOR CONTINUES TO TRY TO LOCK EACH TIME THE VEHICLE REACHES THE SPEED THAT THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. *TR

IN MAY OF 2013 MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR ON MY 08 CR-V WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED IN SPITE OF ALL EFFORTS. I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE IT UNTIL ONE DAY WHEN I LOCKED MY CAR THEN HAPPENED TO SEE THAT THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WAS STILL UNLOCKED. THE CAR ALARM "ARMED" ITSELF AS NORMAL BUT I WAS STILL ABLE TO GET IN THE BACK DOOR WITHOUT THE ALARM GOING OFF. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE ACTUATOR FOR $200 IN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR. NOW, NOT EVEN ONE MONTH LATER, MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS LOCKING BY ITSELF WHEN I'M TRYING TO GET INTO THE CAR MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN. I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND HOPE THAT IT WILL STAY UNLOCKED LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET IN. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO TEST ALL OF THE ACTUATORS, THAT IF ONE GOES OUT THAT USUALLY MEANS THE OTHER THREE AREN'T FAR BEHIND, AND APPARENTLY HE IS RIGHT. I LIVE IN A STATE THAT HAS VERY HOT SUMMERS, AND IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE IF ONE OF MY PETS ACCIDENTALLY GOT LOCKED IN MY CAR IN THE SUMMER HEAT. IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE HONDA IS BIGGER THAN THIS AND SHOULD BE RECALLING ALL DOOR ACTUATORS IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. ITS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR A CORPORATION LIKE HONDA, AND IF THEY DON'T RECOGNIZE THE ERROR ON THEIR PART, I'M GOING TO TAKE THE $25-30K THAT I WOULD NORMALLY USE TO BUY A NEW HONDA AND USE IT TO BUY A GMC OR HYUNDAI. I'M ABOUT TO DROP ANOTHER $200 TO GET THIS ACTUATOR REPLACED MAKING IT $400, NOT COUNTING THE ALMOST $1800 I'VE HAD TO SPEND REPLACING THE AIR CONDITIONER (CLUTCH, COIL, COMPRESSOR) OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. OH, AND HONDA SAID THE A/C PARTS I HAD REPLACED ON MY CAR WEREN'T COVERED BY THE LETTER THEY SENT OUT REGARDING THE A/C PROBLEMS IN CR-VS LAST NOVEMBER, EVEN THOUGH I SENT IN ALL THE SUPPORTING PAPERWORK. GOOD JOB HONDA, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM YOU. *TR

ON MARCH 13TH MY SON AND I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE OUR HOME TO RUN AN ERRAND AND HE COULD NOT OPEN THE BACK DOOR. I USE THE UNLOCK FEATURE ON MY KEYS AND IT STILL WOULD NOT UNLOCK. I THOUGHT THE CHILD LOCK HAD BEEN SET. FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I TRIED TO GET THE DOOR UNLOCK AND I COULD NOT AND I NOTICE THAT MY TRUCK WOULD NOT OPEN EITHER. I WAS HEADED OUT OF TOWN, SO I WENT BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THE WANT TO CHARGE ME $120 JUST RUN A CHECK TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I CALLED AROUND AND ANOTHER COMPANY SAID THEY WOULD RUN A CHECK FOR $50. BEFORE THEY COULD DO ANYTHING THEY TRIED TO UNLOCK IT AND STATED THAT I MAY NEED TO GO TO A BODY SHOP AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE PANELS. BY THIS TIME I WAS FRUSTRATED AND THE MONEY WAS ADDING UP FOR REPAIRS. I DECIDE TO TAKE THE CAR TO GET IT CLEAN AND ONE OF THE EMPLOYEE WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR UNLOCK JUST BY WORKING WITH THE LOCKS. I GAVE HIM A NICE TIP FOR SAVING ME A LOT OF MONEY. THIS MORNING I AM DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY HEADING IN TO WORK AND I STARTED HEARING A NOISE. I WAS DRIVING BESIDE A LARGE TRUCK AND I THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS PITCHING ROCK OR GRAVEL. I LOOKED OVER MY SHOULDER AND NOTICE MY BACK LOCKS WERE UNLOCK. I TRIED TO LOCK THEM FROM THE FRONT AND THEY WAS THE NOISE I WAS HEARING..LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESS WAY AND THEY SAID IT MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LISTED AND I WILL HAVE TO BRING THE CAR IN TO BE CHECKED OUT. *TR

IT APPEARS TO LOCK BUT EVENTUALLY UNLOCKS ITSELF. IT WOULD APPEAR TO LOCK BUT WHILE DRIVING UNLOCKS ITSELF. VERY DANGEROUS FOR SMALL KIDS IN BACK. I TOOK TO HONDA AND IT IS $400 TO GET FIXED. AS SOON AS YOU WOULD UNLOCK THE AUTOMATIC DOORS LOCKS - THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR, IT WOULD QUICKLY LOCK BACK UP, YOU HAD TO FORCE IT TO UNLOCK ONCE IT LOCKED ON ITS OWN, YOU CAN USE THE CLICKER OR THE UNLOCK BUTTON, BUT YOU HAD TO BE VERY QUICK TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK IT - YOU HAD TO HAVE YOUR ONE HAND ON THE DOOR HANDLE AND THE OTHER HAND ON THE UNLOCK BUTTON - OR ELSE YOU CAN'T GET OUT THAT DOOR. ONCE YOU GET TO SPEEDS OF 5 MPH THE DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, THE BACK DRIVER DOOR STARTED TO SLOWLY UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING, WHILE THE CAR WAS STOPPED, IT WOULD LOCK ONCE YOU GOT TO THE 5 MPH BUT THEN START UNLOCKING AGAIN. I REPLACED THE ACTUATORS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE DOORS AND NOW THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR LOCK STARTED MAKING NOISES AND IS STARTING TO UNLOCK ON ITS OWN. CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID IT MUST HAPPEN OFTEN BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE PARTS FOR IT. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY SAID NO, SO I HAD TO PURCHASE THE PARTS. *TR

FRONT PASSANGER DOOR LOCK WILL BRIEFLY UNLOCK THEN ON ITS OWN LOCK ITSELF. YOU HAVE TO FORCE THE DOOR LOCK OPEN JUST TO GET OUT AND ONCE THE LOCK OPENS IT SLOWLY LOCKS ITSELF. THE KEY FOB AND LOCK SWITCH WILL BRIEFLY UNLOCK THE LATCH. (WE DO HAVE FACTORY INSTALLED ALARM). MY WIFE ALSO NOTICED DOME LIGHT NO LONGER COMING ON (MIGHT JUST BE DEAD BULB). THIS COULD BE A HUGE ISSUE IN AN ACCIDENT IF PASSENGER OR EMERGENCY PERSONAL ARE UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR DUE TO LOCK ALWAYS LOCKING ITSELF. A LOT OF FORCE IS NEEDED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. IT SEEMS LIKE THE DOOR ACTUATOR IS GETTING A LOCK SIGNAL AND STAYING IN THE LOCKED POSITION. AGAIN YOU CAN MOMENTARILY MANUALLY FORCE THE DOOR LOCK OPEN AND WITH THE SWITCH/KEYFOB. RECENT REPAIRS: WE DID RECENTLY REPLACE THE CAR BATTERY BECAUSE THE CAR LOST ELECTRICAL POWER (CAR WOULD NOT START). WE ALSO JUST REPLACED THE AC/HEATER BLOWER MOTOR BECAUSE WHEN THE HVAC WAS POWERED ON WE HEARD VERY LOUD WHIRLING/CLICKING NOISE. WE ALSO JUST CHANGED ALL FOUR STRUTS BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING BUT NO ELECTRICAL WAS TOUCHED DURING THIS REPAIR. *TR

WHEN BACKING OUT OF AN UNPAVED PARKING AREA I HIT A LARGE PONDEROSA PINE TREE WITH THE REAR BUMPER. THE BUMPER ABSORBED THE IMPACT WITH A SMALL SCRATCH TO THE BUMPER COVER. UPON IMPACT, THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MY CONTROL FOR IT LURCHED FORWARD ABOUT 40 FEET INTO THE PARKING SPACE I HAD LEFT AND HIT ANOTHER LARGE TREE WITH THE CENTER OF THE CAR. THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD SO QUICKLY I DO NOT RECALL WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE COLLISION ALL FOUR WHEELS CONTINUED SPINNING AND DUG SMALL DEPRESSIONS IN THE DIRT UNTIL THE ENGINE STOPPED. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE AFTER BACKING INTO THE TREE. I SUFFERED BRUISED RIBS AND A SEVERE BURN TO MY HAND FROM THE AIRBAG. A SHERIFF ASSESSED THE ACCIDENT AND CALLED AN AMBULANCE TO ASSESS MY CONDITION AND I DID NOT REQUIRE HOSPITALIZATION.
