SUDDEN ACCELERATION, while foot on the brake. This caused us to have an accident hitting cemented poles in front of a store. Our CRV was badly smashed in the front, making it undriveable. There was three of in the vehicle getting jolted and jerked. I believe this problem needs to be looked into, before someone else is hurt.
Our vehicle started to jerk whenever it is at low gear. The check engine light goes on and off. The traction control light goes on and off. And an error code came up: p060a. The vehicle has stalled 2x after moderately jerking multiple times while driving @ 50m/hr. The air conditioning blows hot air after a few minutes of it running. We have checked recalls for the particular make, model and year and it is showing the classic vehicle recalls from Honda. Unfortunately, our VIN number shows that it was not part of the recalled vehicle. We have gone through Honda hoping that they could at least do a diagnostic run and verify if it is a possible recall issue, but they will only do it if we pay for everything. Please help.
Car stalled, began to smoke while traveling at a low rate of speed on residential street. Found it had no oil. No warning light indicated oil was low. Bought it used two weeks earlier and seller said oil had been recently changed. Passenger-side door locks began locking and unlocking randomly while in motion. No inspection. The A/C compressor stopped working mid-summer. Mechanic inspected, repaired. No longer in possession of this vehicle.
When I started driving the vehicle in 2021, I noticed it had a weak power and it was shaking. I purchased a set of four new coils, and spark plugs at the suggestion of a mechanic. I have had to change coil number 3 -three times since then and less than 3000 miles driving. This has to be a magnufacturing issue. I need someone to look at this issue to see why it is giving me so much problems.
Sudden and unexpected engine failure due to (also) sudden oil over-consumption (beginning only weeks prior), documented by Honda in Bulletin 12-089. Total engine failure resulted. Trauma surgeon almost killed in accident (only saved because he knows how to handle a dead engine mid-traffic). Honda has noted that the Bulletin covered only up to 125K miles or 8 years. We were at 114K miles, but Honda has refused to further investigate--despite this sudden and catastrophic failure--because the car is greater than 8 years old. It is my husband's professional opinion that the car/engine be recalled, and that the Bulletin should in fact be a recall.
2010 Honda CR-V. Based on a HONDA dealer report and diagnosed in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 27, 2022. The A/C compressor, coil and A/C system clutch burned out during a trip through high dessert on Interstate 15 north from California to a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Temperature 107 degrees, heavy raining and in the middle of flash warning storm. According with Mechanic and HONDA Service advisors at Nevada's HONDA dealership, the A/C compressor's friction also, most likely rested engine power and proper performance to engine water pump and engine alternator. During this incident, we (My spouse and I) were so concerned of vehicle total engine failure and monitored engine temperature constantly, during remaining part of the trip. We continued traveling at reduced speed at approximately 40 miles per hour due to heavy rain and high altitude. We were forced to stop and reduce the speed to 15 miles per hour due to lack of visibility and poor engine performance and lack of power. The A/C compressor and A/C clutch burned-out completed, and A/ C ceased to fully operate. Cost of repair is estimated at $2,934.55 This incident has similar conditions and A/C system failure, as previously reported in NHTSA complaint No. 10056005
MY CRV was at 127,829 miles I took it in to the dealership and told the service advisor the CRV was making a clicking sound CRV was slow to accelerate on entrance to a highway the engine light would come on at a stop light momentarily the CRV dashboard read 70 percent used oil. The dealership said the CRV was down 2 quarts of oil and did an oil change. The last oil change was done at 125,474 miles the CRV was not making any noise after that oil change. The car is definitely burning oil because it had only been 2355 miles since the last oil change was done.
THE WARRANTY EXTENSION THAT WAS EXTENDED FOR "STICKING PISTON RINGS RESULTING IN HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION" WAS NOT A PROBLEM YET DURING THE 125,000 MILE MARK. A FEW MONTHS LATER OUR 2010 HONDA CRV STARTED NEEDING MUCH MORE OIL. EVER SINCE WE'VE NEEDED TO ADD OIL AT EVERY FUEL TANK FILL UP. PLEASE PUSH HONDA TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO TAKE CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS. OUR CRV NOW HAS JUST OVER 180,000 MILES. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME WITH THIS.

BOUGHT FROM HONDA DEALER AND IT BURNS 1 QUART OF OIL PER 1000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES SERVICE BULLETIN 12-089. I HAVE DONE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH THEM AND THEY AGREE THAT IS THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT CORRECT. I FEEL THEY MISLEAD ME DURING THE PURCHASE AND THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS ISSUES WITH THE CRV OIL CONSUMPTION. NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY $3000 TO TO CORRECT THE KNOW ISSUE. HONDA USA REFUSES TO CORRECT ALSO. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL.

THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THE OIL CONSUMPTION HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD OF 8 YEARS OR 80,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,350.

FOR AT LEAST 50,000 MILES, MY 2010 CRV SEEMED TO BE BURNING OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. IN ABOUT 2000 MILE INTO THE OIL CHANGE, I'D NOTICE MY OIL LIGHT COME ON OR HEAR SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. THEN, I'F CHECK THE OIL AND IT WAS A QUARTER LOW. BUT, THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE GROUND ANYWHERE I PARKED. SO IT WAS NOT LEAKING OIL. I KEPT THINKING IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. MY CRV IS CURRENTLY USING 26OZ OF OIL OR MORE EVERY 1000 MILES AND THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA STATE THAT IT IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. THEY STATED THAT I SHOULD CHECK MY OIL EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK. THEY STATED THAT IF I DO NOT CHECK MY OIL EVERY TIME I GET GAS, THE LEVEL MAY GO LOW AND MY ENGINE CAN BLOW UP. THERE ARE THE IGNITION CIRCUIT COUPLER FAILURE (11V004000) AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE (11V395000) HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT APART OF THAT RECALL. I AM SCARED AND FEAR FOR MY LIFE THAT THIS STALLED ENGINE ISSUE WILL CAUSE MY CAR TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN WORST HAVE SOMEONE ELSE AND I GET KILLED.

MY CAR HAS MADE A METAL ON METAL GRINDING NOISE FOR FOUR YEARS ON A COLD STARTUP. THIS IS IN WARM OR COLD WEATHER, BUT ONLY IF THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR 6 HOURS OR LONGER. AFTER HAVING THIS DIAGNOSED AND FIXED TWICE BY MECHANICS (THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNED), MY HONDA DEALER TOLD ME TODAY THAT IT IS THE VPC ACTUATOR. UPON SEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND IT IS A WELL KNOWN, DEFECTIVE PART FOR MANY HONDA ACCORDS AND CR-VS AND THAT IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEMS. I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS HAS NOT EVER BEEN COMMUNICATED TO ME AND THAT FIXING IT WILL COST ME $1,000 SINCE HONDA KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART.
HESITATION ON HOT DAYS: FROM A STANDSTILL ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC ON A HOT DAY CAN BE DANGEROUS. THE CAR HESITATES AND THEN ACCELERATES AT A RATE FAR SLOWER THAN NORMAL EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS, WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT HONDA OIL LIGHTS "JUST DON'T WORK". MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HAS SAID THE RATE OF OIL CONSUMPTION IS DAMAGING MY VEHICLE. I AM NOW CHECKING MY OIL WEEKLY AND SPENDING A LOT OF EXTRA MONEY PURCHASING OIL TO ADD ON MY OWN. I HAVE FOUND THE ENTIRE PROCESS THROUGH HONDA EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I CALL AND SEND EMAILS AND DO NOT GET A RESPONSE. AFTER I FILED THE APPEAL AND WAS TOLD THEY WILL NOT AGREE TO DO THE REPAIR I ASKED WHAT MY NEXT STEP SHOULD BE. I BOUGHT MY HONDA CRV BRAND NEW 2010. BY THE TIME THE CAR WAS 2 YEAR OLD, WITH 10,000 MILES, THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE WHEN I WOULD START THE CAR. THE GRINDING NOISE LASTS ABOUT 2 SECONDS. IT HAS BEEN INTO A HONDA DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS TOLD HONDA IS WORKING ON A "FIX" AND THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE ADDRESSED WHEN THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT HAD THE ISSUE FIGURED OUT. ONE YEAR LATER (BUT STILL UNDER WARRANTY), THE GRINDING NOISE IS LOUDER AND LONGER THAN BEFORE, AND HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT HONDA HAS BEEN INSTALLING THE DEFECTIVE VTC ACTUATOR SINCE 2008, IN ACCORDS. THE DEFECTIVE ACTUATOR WAS ALSO INSTALLED IN 2012-2014 CRV'S. IT APPEARS THAT HONDA CONTINUED TO USE THE DEFECTIVE ACTUATOR SINCE 2008, YET CUSTOMERS ARE BEING TOLD THAT A "FIX" IS IN THE WORKS, 7 YEARS LATER. AMERICAN HONDA HAS ADVISED HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS TO NOT REPLACE THE ACTUATOR AS IT IS LIKELY THAT THE REPLACEMENT ACTUATOR WILL PRESENT THE SAME GRINDING NOISE. A REGIONAL CASE MANAGER ALSO ASSURED ME THAT A "FIX" WAS IN THE WORKS BUT DID NOT COMMENT WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT HONDA CONTINUED TO USE A DEFECTIVE PART FROM 2008-2014. HONDA REPEATEDLY EMPHASIZES THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY OR PERFORMANCE ISSUE, TO WHICH I HAVE REPLIED THAT IS LIKELY THE REASON IT HAS BEEN 7 YEARS WITH NO FIX -- IT IS A LOW PRIORITY AND HONDA CHOOSES TO DIRECT ITS ENGINEERING RESOURCES ELSEWHERE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED BY ITSELF FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE CONTACT CALLED OHIO VALLEY HONDA (532 N 3RD ST, STEUBENVILLE, OH 43952, (740) 283-3435) AND WAS INFORMED THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.

I DROVE THE VEHICHLE AND THE OIL LITE CAME ON; STOPPED AT A REPAIR STATION AND HAD TO ADD 2 QTS OIL. WENT TO HONDA AGAIN TO START OIL CONSUMPTION TEST (WHICH THEY SAY LOSING A QT OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS ''NORMAL' WHICH I SO DISAGREE WITH. THE ENGINE LITE CAME ON, TOOK TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THE CATALYC CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (WITH ONLY 120000 MILES NOW). I FOUND OTHER SITES/BLOGS THAT SHOW OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM WITH CAT CONVERTER/OIL CONSUMPTION. I BELIEE THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE FAILURE OF THE CATAYLIC CONVERTER/EMMISSIONS PROBLEM AND THE CONSUMER/MYSELF SHOUDL NOT HAVE PAY THIS EXORBAINATE REPAIR COST (OVER $2600 PER HONDA DEALER). I HAVE 2007 CRV WITH APPROX 145000 MILES AND HAVE HAD NO OIL CONSUMPTION OR CATALYIC CONVERTER ISSUE WHICH CONCERNS ME AS I WAS LOOKING TO TRADE IN THE 2007 AND PASS THE 2010 CRV TO MY DAUGHTER AND ACQUIRE A NEW HONDA. BUT, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT A NEWERE CRV (2010) HAS SUCH MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT IT IS NOT A QUALITY CAR TO PASS ON TO MY DAUGHTR TO DRIVE AND I AM NOT SURE IF I GET ANOTHER HONDA IF I WILL HAE DEFECTS AND EXCESSIVE OUT OF POCKET COSTS. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING OF AN OIL LEVEL PROBLEM UNTIL THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT. THE OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED IN THE CAR 2 MONTHS PRIOR AND WAS ROUTINELY CHANGED APPROX. EVERY 4K MILES.. THE VEHICLE HAD ALSO BEEN HAVING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN STARTING UP COLD EACH DAY. THIS HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE A VTC ACTUATOR PROBLEM. THE EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING HAS NOW ALSO CAUSED AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM (CATALYTIC CONVERTER) AND THE CAR WILL NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS INCLUDING LITIGATION PERTAINING TO THE EXCESSIVE OIL ISSUE AND THE VTC ACTUATOR DEFECT. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHETHER VEHICLE CRASHES/INJURIES/FATALITIES INVOLVING THE AFFECTED HONDA VEHICLES ARE CAUSED BY ENGINE STALLS OR LOSS OR POWER AND FURTHERMORE IF THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM IS THE CAUSE. IF THE VTC ACTUATOR IS CAUSING OR CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROBLEM, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. ALSO, DOES EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING INCREASE THE RISK OF ENGINE FIRES IN THESE VEHICLES? IS EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING CAUSING EMISSIONS SYSTEM FAILURES AND POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT? A VEHICLE THAT BURNS 4-5 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN 5K MILE OIL CHANGES IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE FOR ANYBODY BUT ESPECIALLY UNSAFE FOR THE ELDERLY AND YOUNG DRIVERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE RADIATOR, COMPRESSOR, AND BELT. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY AAA ROAD SERVICE. SEVEN DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (OCEAN HONDA IN SANTA CRUZ, CA, 831-661-8693) AND THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE FOR A NEW ONE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE INSTEAD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.

HONDA TOLD US THIS IS "NORMAL" AND THAT WE SHOULD REPLENISH THE OIL EVERY TIME WE FILL THE GAS TANK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. NO VEHICLE SHOULD "BURN" OIL AT THAT RATE. IT IS BOTH A LIABILITY TO THE OWNER AND A DETRIMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT. HONDA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM (RECALL) AND SHOULD FIX IT.

BROUGHT IT BACK TWICE WITH THE SAME RESULT, BURNING OIL. CUSTOMER SERVICE SENT DOCUMENTS AND PROOF TO HONDA FOR AN APPROVAL TO FIX THE PROBLEM, WHICH IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE 2010 CRV ARE BURNING OIL IN EXCESS AND I AM WAITING OVER A WEEK FOR A RESPONSE AND NOBODY CALLED ME, I CALLED THEM TODAY AND ACCORDING TO THEM, THEY HAVENT HEARD FROM HONDA. I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THAT IS WELL KNOWN IN THEIR INTERNAL CIRCLE, I ASKED SOMEONE FROM ANOTHER HONDA SERVICE CENTER AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING, AND HONDA KNOWS BUT THEY WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO ADMITED. IN 2015 I BEGAN TO ADD OIL IN-BETWEEN REQUIRED OIL CHANGES AND REPORTED THE CONDITION TO MANCHESTER HONDA IN JULY. THE RATE IS APPROXIMATELY 1QT/2,500 MILES. HONDA AGREES THIS IS 'ABNORMAL' BUT THAT THE RATE DOES NOT MEET THE 'EXCESSIVE' CONSUMPTION REQUIRED TO BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION NOTIFICATION. THAT RATE IS NOT DOCUMENTED ANYWHERE AND REPORTED TO BE 1QT/1,000 MILES. FOR 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION' HONDA HAS AGREED TO FIX THE PROBLEM CHARGING ME $1,000. I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP IN 2015 TO CHECK FOR OIL LEAK SINCE THE OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THEY DID NOT FIND ANY LEAKS AND SAID THE CAR WAS WORKING AS NORMAL. I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN IN 2016 2 MONTHS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I GOGGLED IT AND FOUND THAT MY CAR WAS SUBJECT TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE ISSUE UNTIL 8 YEARS OR 125K MILES. I CONTACTED MY NEW DEALERSHIP AND TOOK MY CAR IN. MY ADVISOR STATED THAT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WOULD NEED TO BE DONE WHICH CONSISTED OF AND OIL CHANGE AND BRINGING IT BACK IN 1000 MILES LATER TO SEE MORE THAN 1 QUART OF OIL HAD BEEN BURNED. SINCE I WOULD BE OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD AT THE END OF THE TEST I CONTACTED HONDA DIRECTLY TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD BE COVERED. I SPOKE WITH REBECCA WHO ASSURED ME THAT SINCE I HAD STARTED THE TEST BEFORE THE WARRANTY PERIOD WAS OVER I WOULD BE FULLY COVERED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AT 1000 MILES AND THAT SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE. IN JAN 2017 MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS BURNING MORE OIL THAN 1 QUART PER 1000 MILES. MY CAR NOW HAD 127653 MILES. HONDA IS NOW REFUSING TO FIX THE ISSUE UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I SPOKE WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CORP AND SHE STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE COVERED SINCE THE PROCESS WAS STARTED BEFORE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED THAT INFORMATION WAS NOT CORRECT AND SHE WOULD GIVE A COACHING TO THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NOTED MY FILE.

BY 7/21/16 (67233MI) WE WERE HEARING VERY STRONG MOTOR NOISES AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE VERY ROUGH. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN THEY ADVISED US WE WERE 3QTS LOW. FROM THE LAST OIL CHANGE AT 60742MI THAT AMOUNTS TO 1.0QT/2164MI. THEY TOLD US WE NEEDED TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ON 8/10/16 (67942MI) WE WERE ALREADY 1QT LOW AFTER ONLY 500MI AND THEY ASKED US TO DO AN OIL CHANGE WHEN WE WERE ONLY AT 40% ACCORDING TO THE "OIL LIFE" INDICATOR. BY 12/2/16 WHEN WE FINISHED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET BACK WITH US, THEY SAID OUR OIL CONSUMPTION WAS "WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS" ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY. ON 1/9/17 (73743MI) WE REQUESTED HONDA CHECK OUR OIL AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS DOWN 1.8QTS AFTER 2790MI. THAT'S 1.0QTS/1500MI. THEY SUGGESTED WE DO ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. CLEARLY, HONDA HAS SET CONVENIENT "NORMAL LIMITS" IN ORDER TO DELAY REPAIRS THAT COULD MITIGATE FUTURE ENGINE ISSUES AFTER OUR WARRANTY (OR EXTENDED WARRANTY) HAS EXPIRED. WE HAVE REQUESTED THAT THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL SO WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE GUESSING AS TO WHEN WE NEED TO ADD OIL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BECAUSE IT HAS MOST DEFINITELY LOWERED THE RESALE VALUE OF OUR CAR AND MADE IT MUCH HARDER TO SELL. I HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES, BRAKES, CALIPERS, DRUMS AND ROTARS AS THEY SIEZED, WORE UNEVENLY AND "OXIDIZED(?). I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE TIRES HAVE AN IMPRESSION ON THEM AS THE VEHICLE MUST HAVE BEEN NOT USED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE CARE IS USED DAILY. SOME EXCUSED PROVIDED HAVE BEEN AMAZING. MAIN POINT IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION/METAL NOISE CONTINUED WHILE I DROVE THE CAR OR WHEN MY COUSIN WAS GOING TO USE IT (BUT DECLINED WHEN HE HEARD THE NOISE) WHEN THE CARE GOES IN FOR SERVICING "NOISE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED" I WOULD LEAVE AND GET HOME UNSTATISFIED AND DUE TO RESPONSIBILITIES IN LIFE MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO JUST GO RIGHT BACK OUT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT I WOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT FOR TEST RIDE. FINALLY WHEN I DUPLICATED THE NOISE. REPEATEDLY/ANNUALLY COMPLAINED AND WAS NOT FOUND UNTIL HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH (GSH DID PROVIDE LOANER) I HAVE RETURNED TO THE SERVICE CENTER SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN THERE, BUT CONTINUED TO LEAVE MY CAR THERE. NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE ($100) AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR NEW TRANSMISSION OF $1510.00. THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAD DOCUMENTED ON EVERY SERVICE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.. WHEN IN REVERSE AND PROCEED TO REVERSE THE METALIC NOISE DROPS BUT THE CAR STILL GOES IN MOTION. THERE WERE TWO TIMES IT DID IT IN DRIVE. EVERY SERVICE VISIT WAS ROUTINE AND SCEDULED; RECOMMENDED SERVICES WERE DONE ON THE SPOT, NOT WHEN I WOULD RETURN FOR NEXT OIL CHANGE.. I AM JUST DISHEARTENED AND SADDENED THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THIS FEMALE CUSTOMER.... I HAVE BEEN MADE TO FEEL THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN TO A MALE CUSTOMER.

SERVICE DOCUMENTATION HAS BEEN MADE REGARDING A COMPLAINANT OF A METAL NOISE DROPPING FROM THE VEHICLE AS OF NOV 2010 AND BASICALLY EVERY YEAR TO FOLLOW. I DID PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. HOWEVER, NOW I HAVE JUST BEEN ADVISED IT IS AN INTERNAL ISSUE IN THE TRANSMISSION AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY $1600. IT SEEMED THAT MOST COSTLY ISSUES REALLY BEGAN TO SURFACE AFTER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTEE. HOWEVER IT SEEMED THAT NOTHING IS WRONG, BUT AFTER A THIRD RETURN AND TAKING THE VEHICLE OUT AND REPRODUCING THE NOISE/PROBLEM I HAVE COMPLAINED OF SINCE MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE NO HAS BEEN "DISCOVERED". I HAVE ALWAYS DONE THE RECOMMENDED SERVICES ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME I HAVE MAINTAINED ITS SERVICE SINCE IT HAS BEEN PURCHASED WITH GARDEN STATE HONDA. THEY HAVE BEEN POLITE, TRIED TO PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE NOISE WHICH WERE NOT AS I DESCRIBED. A METAL CLANK/DROP NOISE IS NOT THE SAME AS THE PLASTIC FLAP RUBBING ON THE TIRE. I HAVE BEEN ENGAGED TO A MECHANIC AND CLEARLY KNOW THIS WAS A POOR EXCUSE. I DO HAVE AN EXTENDED COVERAGE UNTIL APRIL 2017. I HAVE ALSO BEEN PROVIDED AN EXCUSE THAT MY CAR TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVENLY AS THE CAR MUST NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVEN IN SOME TIME (THE TIRES APPEAR TO HAVE THAT STATIONARY MARK). THE CAR IS DRIVEN DAILY. IT MAY NOT BE FAR DISTANCES, BUT THAT'S NOT A REASON FOR WHY WEARING UNEVENLY.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 3/26/10 BASED UPON PERFORMANCE RATINGS BOASTED BY HONDA. THERE HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURERS DEFECTS FROM THE START. CURRENTLY ABOUT 118,000 MILES. EARLY ON I STARTED HEARING PINGING SOUNDS UNDER THE HOOD. HONDA DEALER SAID I WAS LOW ON OIL, PUT A QUART IN, AND THE SOUND STOPPED. HE ADVISED TO PUT OIL IN WHENEVER THE SOUND OCCURRED. THIS WAS BEFORE MY FIRST OIL CHANGE. I CONTINUED TO ADD OIL AS THE SOUND RE-OCCURRED, 2-4 QUARTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I REPEATEDLY QUESTIONED THE CONSUMPTION BUT NO MALFUNCTION WAS FOUND. JULY OF 2011 HONDA ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH (TSB#11-033). IN NOVEMBER 2011, THE DEALER DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION SOFTWARE UPDATE. AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTINUAL COST FOR SYNTHETIC OIL REMAINED AND THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. AN OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL ISSUED IN 2015. THE CAR FAILED THE OIL TEST HONDA DID REQUIRED SERVICE AS PER RECALL PROTOCOL. THE TECH INDICATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. HONDA AGREED TO PAY 50% OF THE CC REPAIR. I DECLINED SINCE I HAVE NO MONEY FOR THIS DUE TO UNEMPLOYMENT, NOR SHOULD I PUT ONE CENT INTO A CAR THAT HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE FROM THE START. MY CAR WAS ALSO RECALLED FOR TAKATA AIRBAGS. HONDA PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR FOR 2.5 MONTHS. I PICKED UP THE CAR AND NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, BRAKES MALFUNCTIONING AND COMPROMISED CC. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A CAR WITH A SUBSTANTIAL DEFECT FROM THE DAY ONE. I HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS DOLLARS ON OIL. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO RECALLS. THE CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE OR DEPENDABLE DUE TO CC AND BRAKES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ENGINE LONGEVITY. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING FEARFUL. I REPORTED IT TO HONDA AND NOT UNTIL THEY SENT ME THE WARRANTY EXTENSION REQUIRED BY THE COURT ORDER DID ANYTHING HAPPEN. THEN THEY (MCGRATH HONDA ELGIN IL) MADE ME BRING THE CAR BACK 4 TIMES FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THEY TOLD ME THE TEST WOULD ONLY TAKE 3 TRIPS. EVEN THOUGH IT CONTINUES TO BURN OIL (1QT PER 800-1000 MILES) THEY DENY A PROBLEM.

IN AUGUST 2015 HONDA SENT A LETTER EXPLAINING THAT 2010 AND 2011 CR-VS HAD A PROBLEM WITH STICKY PISTON RINGS THAT COULD LEAD TO EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION. I CONTACTED HONDA AND WENT THROUGH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ALTHOUGH I DOCUMENTED 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL BURNED IN 1700 MILES OF HIGHWAY, THE AVERAGE WAS LESS THAN HONDA DEFINED AS EXCESSIVE. I FEEL THAT THIS LEVEL OF CONSUMPTION IS EXCESSIVE, ESPECIALLY ON LONGER HIGHWAY DRIVES AND I AM WORRYING ABOUT DAMAGING THE ENGINE. HONDA SHOULD DO THE WARRANTY WORK. MY LOCAL DEALER SUGGESTED I CONTINUE TO DO MY OWN OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING. THE WARRANTY IS VALID UNTIL NOV 2017 AND FOR ANOTHER 35,000 MILES.

I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH EXCESSIVE OIL USE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON TWO (2) DEALERSHIPS RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE TIMING BELT TIMING CHAIN TENSION AND CAM SHAFT. 62,000 MILES CAR WAS DRIVING VERY BAD SO I DID THE REPAIRS $ 1,212.40 . THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT'S "NORMAL". I HAVE A MINI VAN TOYOTA WITH 273,000 MILES NEVER CHANCE THE TIMING BELT/CHAIN STILL RUNNING. HONDA OF AMERICA SAYING THAT BURNING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES IS NORMAL. THAT IS UNETHICAL. I HAVE DONE THE 1,000 MILE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT MY CRV CAN BURN UP TO A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES AND IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN HELP ME. NOW THE CAR START SMELLING OIL AND GAS WHEN I CHECK THE OIL LEVEL. THEY SEND A LETTER BUT HONDA IS NOT WILLING TO DO THE REPAIRS.

RECENTLY I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT SHOWS THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN HONDA AND THAT THE CAUSE IS A FAULTY IGNITION KEY PART. IF IT IS TRUE, THEN HONDA MUST RECALL IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT MUST BE INVESTIGATED SINCE MANY HONDA CARS ARE REPORTED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT HONDA SEEMS NOT TO KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS.

THE 2010 HONDA CR-V WAS NOT DRIVING PROPERLY, FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING/SHAKY. THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (LESS THAN 70,000 MILES). IT WAS ALMOST OUT OF OIL, EVEN THOUGH I HAD BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINING SERVICE SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL, 2010. THE HONDA DEALER SERVICED THE CAR. I WENT BACK SHORTLY AFTER SERVICE BECAUSE WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS LOW AGAIN. THEY STARTED 'OIL CONSUMPTION' TESTS. IT WAS DOWN A BIT EVERY 1,000 MILES BUT THEY KEPT SAYING IT WAS IN THE 'NORMAL' RANGE AND THAT IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO NEED TO ADD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (I HAVE OWNED CARS FOR 30+ YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST CAR THAT EVER NEED ADDITIONAL OIL BETWEEN CHANGES). I KEPT TAKING IT IN FOR CONSUMPTION ISSUES. THEY WOULD CHECK THE OIL, TOP IT OFF, AND TELL ME IT WAS 'NORMAL'. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THE SERVICE MANAGER PRESENTED IT TO THE REGIONAL HONDA SERVICE, BUT THEY SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL' TOO. I STARTED TOPPING OFF THE OIL MYSELF AS THE DEALERSHIP IS A BIT OF A DRIVE AND I WASN'T GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THE COMPLAINTS. AT 86,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO AN ACURA DEALERSHIP. THEY SERVICED THE CAR AND RESET IT. LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN 3 WEEKS LATER. IT NEEDS A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER @$1,100. BOUGHT HONDA CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT DEALER WITH CAR, BUT IT DOESN'T COVER THE PART. HONDA IS TELLING ME THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE HONDA CARE WARRANTY IS NOT A HONDA WARRANTY, BUT 3RD PARTY AND THEY DON'T CONTROL IT. I'M OUT $2,300 FOR THE USELESS WARRANTY AND APPEALING TO HONDA TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE OIL CONSUMPTION (WHICH THE HONDA DEALER SAID IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH CR-VS) AND THE NEED FOR A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AT 86,000 MILES. *TR

BEFORE NOTICING BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THE CAR WOULD GO ALMOST DRY BETWEEN CHANGES. THE OIL LIGHT WOULD FLICKER ON AND THEN GO OFF, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS LESS THAN A QUART OF OIL IN THE CAR. THE DEALER CLAIMS HAVING TO ADD 1/2 QUART TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION. HONDA OF AMERICA CLAIMS THE SAME. HONDA OF AMERICA HAD NO ANSWER FOR ME AS TO WHY THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT REMAIN ON WHEN CAR WAS RUNNING VERY LOW ON OIL. HONDA OF AMERICA ALSO HAS NO ANSWER AS TO WHY IF THIS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL TO WARN THE CONSUMER THAT THEY MAY WANT TO CHECK THEIR OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. JUNE 15 2013 I WAS BACKING UP IN THE DRIVE WAY, I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND CAR STARTED TO REV UP SEVERELY, I PUT IT IN PARK, CONFIRMED THAT MY FOOT WAS OFF THE GAS, FLOOR MAT NOT STUCK IN THE PEDAL ETC. I TURNED OFF ENGINE, RESTARTING AND IT RAN FINE.
