I was in a pretty serious collision with a very large deer this morning. My car is totaled, the airbags did not deploy and I had to physically shield my face, neck and head.

My airbag light came on on June 2, 2023. I called Honda to get an appointment, inwhich I did for 6/20/23 for them to diagnose and do a state inspection. On 6/20/23, I was told that I had a FAULTY CABLE REEL. I was told that my car would not pass inspection without me getting this repaired at the cost of $760.99. I got it repaired on 6/21/23 due to the part having to be ordered and received that day.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph in inclement weather, the vehicle slid on ice and collided with a steel pole, breaking the pole. The contact was unsure if there were warning lights illuminated. The impact of the crash was on the driver's side, and the rear of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained head, neck, shoulder, and mid-back injuries, and medical treatment was provided to the contact. A police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air bag, air bag sensor, driver's headlamp, driver's seat belt, and driver's door, needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

Driver side air bag inflator pump is defective resulting into SRS light on occasionally. State inspection failed on vehicle due to the issue. Registered case with Honda but case is not assigned to any case managers despite calling 5 times. It’s been more than 3 weeks and still no answer from Honda. This was safety recall for the same part but entering vehicle VIN number in the safety recall tool shows zero recalls pending on the vehicle. Can you please advise what steps I should take now??)

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO OTHER PASSENGERS WERE IN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CRASH OCCURRED OCTOBER 23, 2019.

HOWEVER, TODAY I DOUBLED CHECK WITH THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A "BULLETIN" ASSOCIATED WITH A POTENTIAL FAULTY INSTALLATION. I HAVE NO IDEA NOW IF THIS IS DEALER [XXX] OR A LEGIT SAFETY CONCERN. PLEASE MAKE SURE HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS. VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A 2015 DODGE RAM 1500. THE HONDA CRV COLLIDED WITH THE BACK OF THE PARKED DODGE RAM GOING ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR. DRIVER BRAKED HARD 15 TO 20 FEET BEFORE IMPACT. AFTER IMPACT THE CAR SMELLED LIKE GUN POWDER BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON A FOUR-LANE ROAD, 127TH AND HOMAN IN BLUE ISLAND ILLINOIS.

I CAN DOCUMENT SEVERAL ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON, WITH THE HONDA DEALERSHIP GIVING VARIOUS EXPLANATIONS, WHILE NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM. IF YOU INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE, I HAVE 10 SERVICE REPAIR RECORDS OVER 2 YEARS SHOWING THE SRS LIGHT COMING ON BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM OR DEFECT. AT THAT TIME I ALSO MENTIONED MY COMPLAINT FROM PURCHASE THAT THE IGNITION KEY GETS VERY HOT AND THAT THE AUTO BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED EVERY TWO YEARS! TODAY'S RECALL NOTICE SAYS TO FILE A COMPLAINT IF YOUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIR WITHIN 60 DAYS OF INITIAL CONTACT.

IT NEVER HAPPENED, LATER AT THE END OF AUGUST, I CALLED HONDA COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PROMISE THEY TOLD ME TO REPAIR MY CAR AIRBAG ON SUMMER AS THEY L SAID IN THEY LETTER. THE SHE PROMISE TO DO IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2016, IT NEVER HAPPEN. TODAY 11/01/2016 AROUND 11.45 I CALLED AGAIN AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME NOW THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE AIRBAG AVAILABLE. AFTER I GOT IN MY CAR I READ THE PAPER COPY THAT I SIGNED AND IT STATED THAT 'WHILE THEY WAIT FOR REDESIGNED PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE, CUSTOMER HAS ELECTED TO RETAIN POSSESSION OF THEIR CAR AND HAS SIGNED THE 'HONDA TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR RETENTION/STORAGE OWNER INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT' I SAID DOES AGREEMENT MEAN THAT I AM WILLING TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR? TAKATA RECALL. LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP WAS CALLED IN JULY, 2016 ABOUT NEED TO REPLACE PASSENGER AIRBAG PER LETTER RECEIVED JULY, 2016 FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION. WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE ABOUT SIX WEEKS. IT IS NOW OVER 9 WEEKS AND WE ARE STILL WAITING. WE WERE TOLD NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM FOR US. TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION ABOUT MY CAR FROM HONDA USA IN THE SPRING. I CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE EARLY SUMMER. I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN YESTERDAY,8/9/2016. A SERVICE TECH SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 8/14/16 AND TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE ABOUT 90 MINUTES. LESS THAN A HOUR LATER I RECEIVED A MESSAGE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP BACK. THE MAN DID NOT LEAVE HIS NAME. THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD ME HIS FIRST NAME, PETER. HE DID NOT ANWER HIS DIRECT LINE. I WAS TRANSFERRED TO SOMEONE ELSE, NANCY. SHE TOLD ME THAT HONDA HAD NOT YET PROVIDED THE PART AND THAT "SUMMER" WAS A VAGUE TIMELINE. SHE TOLD ME THAT THE REPORTED INCIDENTS ALL TOOK PLACE IN THE SOUTH WHERE IT IS HOT AND HUMID AND THAT I HAD NO REASON TO BE CONCERNED. MASSACHUSETTS HAS BEEN VERY HOT AND HUMID THIS SUMMER. I COMMUTE IN AND AROUND BOSTON, MA WHERE TRAFFIC IS TERRIBLE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE WOMAN TOLD ME TO CALL AROUND OTHER HONDA DEALERS TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE PARTS. SHE SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT NOTIFY ME WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, I HAVE TO KEEP CHECKING. THE NOTICE MENTIONS "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED". SO, I TALKED TO HONDA CARLAND AT ROSWELL, GA SERVICE DEPARTMENT HOPING TO GET A LOANER. BUT THE LADY AT THE REPAIR DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT IT'S A SUGGESTION BUT IT'S UPTO ME IF I DRIVE WITH SOMEONE WITH FRONT PASSENGER. AND THE LOANER IS ONLY FOR THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE AIRBAG AND DOESNT APPLY TO PASSENGER SIDE OF THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. FEW DAYS EARLIER, I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO ONLY WORRY IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND SHOULD BE OK DRIVING AROUND. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS RIDICULOUS AS NOT ALL OF THEM HAVE A PRIVILEGE NOT TO USE CERTAIN PART OF THE CAR, WHILE WE WAIT WEEKS FOR IT TO GET REPLACEMENT. NO ESTIMATE OF WHEN IT MIGHT BE AVAILABLE, TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A PHONE CALL TO SCHEDULE SERVICE WHEN THE PART CAME IN. MEANWHILE, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE AROUND IN A VEHICLE (MY ONLY VEHICLE) THAT COULD RESULT IN MY DEATH IN THE UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCE THAT I WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. WE CHECKED WITH OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER (HERITAGE HONDA IN ROME GA) AND ARE TOLD NOT ONLY THAT WE HAVE TO RENT FROM ENTERPRISE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO LOANER BUT THAT WE HAVE TO SUPPLY OUR OWN INSURANCE AND THAT OUR DAUGHTER CAN NOT DRIVE THE RENTAL CAR. THERE IS NO DATE GIVEN FOR WHEN THE REPAIR CAN BE EXECUTED! I HAVE READ ON THE HONDA/ACURA WEBSITE HOW TEENS CAN NOW DRIVE LOANERS OR RENTALS BUT THIS WAS NEVER MENTIONED BY OUR LOCAL DEALER. I HAVE RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES ONE IN MARCH 2016 AND OTHER ONE IN JULY 2016. SINCE IT'S CLEARLY INDICATED IN THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED FROM HONDA THAT IT'S RISKY TO HAVE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, I AM VERY MUCH WORRIED WITH ACCOMPANYING MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THIS VEHICLE WITH SAFETY. EVEN I AM NOT SURE IF SAME RISK APPLICABLE FOR THE DRIVER AS WELL. THE FIX FOR THIS ISSUE TAKING SO LONG EVEN THOUGH IT'S VERY CLEAR THAT THERE IS A HIGH RISK FOR DEATH OR BODY INJURY IF AIRBAG IS INFLATED. I THEN ASKED ABOUT HAVING MY AIRBAG DISENGAGED SO IT WOULDN'T BE A THREAT. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULDN'T DO THAT. SO STILL NO HELP, AND I WAS LEFT WITH ONE OPTION, BUY A NEW CAR. I TRADED MY CR-V IN AT A DIFFERENT CAR DEALERSHIP FOR A USED ONE. I'M DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA, WITH THE AIRBAG MANUFACTURER AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR NOT HELPING. TAKATA RECALL IN MARCH 2016 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2011 CRV FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG. THE RECALL NOTICE INDICATED MY AIRBAG WOULD BE REPLACED IN SUMMER OF 2016. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER IN JUNE AND AGAIN TODAY (JULY). THEY SAY THEY ONLY GET A COUPLE AIRBAGS A WEEK AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY CAN REPLACE MY AIRBAG. I ALSO CONTACTED THE NATIONAL HONDA RECALL LINE AND WAS GIVEN NO SATISFACTION ON WHEN MY CAR MIGHT BE REPAIRED. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES "PAST RUPTURES LIKE THIS HAVE KILLED AND INJURED VEHICLE DRIVERS". OUR DAUGHTER IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE TO COLLEGE OVER A THOUSAND MILES AWAY IN AUGUST, AND THE HONDA IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THIS AIRBAG IN A TIMELY AND REASONABLE MANNER.

I HAVE CALLED HONDA AMERICA COUNTLESS TIMES TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. INITIALLY I WAS DIRECTED TO THE DEALER WHO I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM, THEN TO THE CLOSEST DEALER TO WHERE MY DAUGHTER LIVES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. NEXT I WAS DIRECTED TO FOLLOW UP WITH HONDA AMERICA. I HAVE BEEN GOING AROUND AND AROUND WITH HONDA AMERICA BECAUSE THEY ARE WILLING TO RENT CARS FOR VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THE AIRBAG RECALL SINCE THE IMPACTED CARS ARE SO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THIS CAR WAS IN THE STATE OF RI WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS GOING TO COLLEGE SO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THERE CLOSEST LOCATION AND GAVE ME AN SMALLER CAR WITH THE EXCUSE THAT I WAS GOING TO RECEIVE A CAR WITH SIMILAR CARGO SPACE THAN THE CRV AS SOON AS WE HAVE TO MOVE OUR DAUGHTER OUT OF ONCE SHE FINISHED HER SEMESTER AND ALSO THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO BE TOWED TO NH WHEN WE MOVE TO NH BUT NOW THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS DENYING THAT THEY MADE SUCH PROMISES AND ASKING US TO COVER THE TOWING BACK TO NH AND BORROW OTHERS PEOPLES CAR TO MOVE OUT OF RI. IN FEWER WORDS THEY ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND LYING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. NOW I AM IN NH AND THEY ARE HOLDING THE CAR AGAINST MY WILL UNLESS I PAY THE TOWING MYSELF. TAKATA RECALL - MY CAR WAS ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST IN FEBRUARY 2016 AND I WAS NOTIFIED BY MAIL IN MARCH. I ONLY HEARD THROUGH ANOTHER CUSTOMER IN APRIL THAT IF I CONTACT HONDA, A RENTAL WILL BE PROVIDED BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL "PROBABLY" LATE SUMMER 2016. HONDA DID NOT NOTIFY ME THAT A RENTAL CAR COULD BE PROVIDED BUT RELY ON THE CUSTOMER TO CALL THEM. THIS DEFECT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH TO THE DRIVER OR PASSENGERS OF OUR CAR. I HAVE CALLED 8 DEALERSHIPS IN THE NYC AREA MULTIPLE TIMES THIS WEEK. 2/8 SAID THEY COULD HELP ME RENT A CAR, BUT ONLY UP TO $35/DAY AND THE DIFFERENCE/ INSURANCE AND STORAGE FOR MY DEFECTIVE VEHICLE IS MY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. ALTHOUGH THE HONDA WEBSITE CLAIMS TO PROVIDE RENTALS AT NO CHARGE. HONDA IS PROVIDING FALSE INFORMATION IN THEIR RECALL CAMPAIGN, AND I CAN NOT AFFORD A RENTAL CAR IN MY AREA BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE AND LIMITED AVAILABILITY. HONDA IS FAILING TO PROVIDE A SAFE CAR FOR ME TO DRIVE MY TODDLER TO DAYCARE IN EVERY DAY. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR BUT HAVE NO CHOICE FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT THREE MONTHS.

I IMMEDIATELY CALLED HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER, SO I DID. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT TRYING TO GET A RENTAL FROM MY DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS, THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY HAVE NO CARS AVAILABLE. TAKATE RECALL - I WANT TO MAKE YOU AWARE THAT THE HONDA CORPORATION HAS NOT EFFECTIVELY ENSURED THAT ITS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED/OPERATED DEALERSHIPS ARE ADDRESSING ALL AFFECTED DRIVERS OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES. DRIVERS WHO ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 ARE NOT ABLE TO RENT CARS FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL SERVICES, WHICH IS BEING USED AS THE SOLE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION OPTION BY HENDRICK HONDA, WOODBRIDGE, VA. HENDRICK HONDA DOES NOT HAVE LOANER VEHICLES. THEREFORE, ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 WHO DRIVES ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAS NO OPTIONS TO GET ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION. OBVIOUSLY, THERE ARE OTHER DEALERS IN THE NOVA AREA, BUT IN A CALL TO THREE DEALERS, THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF LOANER CARS. TAKATA RECALL IN THE WAKE OF THE RECENT DEATH OF A TEEN IN TEXAS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY TAKATA AIRBAG, I WANTED TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INFORM YOU ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE RECALL. I RECEIVED NUMEROUS NOTICES FROM HONDA INFORMING ME ABOUT TWO AIRBAGS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN MY HONDA CRV. WITH THE FIRST NOTICE I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO MY PASSENGER AIRBAG REPAIR. I FELT THAT WASN'T AN ISSUE SINCE MY WIFE HAD ANOTHER CAR AND I HARDLY HAD PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. I RECENTLY RECEIVED NOTICE THAT MY DRIVER AIRBAG IS NOW IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AND SINCE MOVING TO SAN DIEGO AFTER THE BIRTH OF MY DAUGHTER MY WIFE AND I NOW USE THE THE SAME CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER IN HER CAR SEAT. THIS RECENT NOTICE WAS DISCONCERTING SO I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO CALL AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. DIRECTLY TO SECURE TEMPORARY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION PER THEIR RECALL NOTICE. THIS ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE IS POTENTIALLY DEADLY AND WITH MY NEW DAUGHTER I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES ON HER SAFETY. AFTER SPEAKING WITH JESSICA ON 03/19/2016 AT 10:45AM I WAS GIVEN THE CASE ID# 04523834 AND TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED EARLY THE FOLLOWING WEEK TO HAVE SOMEONE DISCUSS MY OPTIONS. SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT "ON" FOR NO APPARENT REASON. TURNED OFF THE NEXT DAY, BUT TURNED "ON" AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY AND HAS REMAINED ON SINCE THIS DAY. I AM AT A LOST FOR THE REASON AND CAN ONLY ATTRIBUTE IT TO HOT WEATHER.

THERE IS AN "AIR BAG" WARNING LIGHT ON IN THIS VEHICLE. WHEN HOOKED UP TO COMPUTER IT READS "AIR BAG INFLATER" PROBLEM. OLDER MODELS OF HONDA'S HAVE HAD RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED BILLION HONDA IN IOWA CITY, IA AND THEY RESPONDED "NO RECALL" ON THIS VEHICLE AND "NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY" AND WERE RUDE ON THE PHONE. WARRANT STATES 15 YEARS OR 150K MILE WARRANTY ON "SAFETY RESTRAINTS". WITH PAST HISTORY AND WARRANTY COVERAGE I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE LIABILITY BECOMES GREATER. *TR

WE PULLED OUR HONDA CRV 2011 INTO A PARKING LOT AT BONEFISH GRILL IN CANTON OHIO ON NOVEMBER 30, 2014. MY MOTHER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND THE ACCELERATOR MOVED TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR COULD NOT BE STOPPED BY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES. WE ENDED UP RUNNING INTO A CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF US THEN A CAR TO THE LEFT OF US AND THEN THE CAR WAS FINALLY STOPPED WHEN WE RAN INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER CAR PARKED IN THE LOT WHERE IT FINALLY CAME TO REST. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND WE WERE NOT INJURED. WE WERE VERY SCARED AND THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE 3 OTHER CARS AS WELL AS OUR OWN. WE HAVE READ ONLINE THE STORIES OF OTHERS THAT HAD VERY SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. WE DO NOT PLAN ON EVER GETTING IN THIS VEHICLE AGAIN AND WILL NOT TRUST ANY VEHICLE THAT HONDA BUILDS AS WELL. THIS INCIDENT LUCKILY HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. IF WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN INTERSECTION WE OR SOMEONE ELSE WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE COMPANY. IT LOOKS LIKE FROM THE STORIES THAT WE HAVE READ THAT HONDA IS CLAIMING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE AND BLAMING IT ON DRIVER ERROR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
