The tailgate door doesn’t open normally sometime I have to push the button more than 10 times then it open but most of the time it doesn’t open.I use this car as a spare or for emergency only so I just wait for Honda to recall, hopefully I don’t want to spend a lot of money to fix because the warranty has expired (41 months but only 25000 miles)but now I use this car every day

Noticed one day that passenger seat had burn marks. Have smelt on occasion what seemed to be burning smells in the past. Don’t use the seat heater there since that was noticed. This is a danger.

From the moment we drove off the lot, this car had had one issue after another, nearly cause me to lose my job because I couldn’t make it to work due to the car being busted. It was getting really bad MPGs, they said it’s fine. It started overheating, they said the coolant fans and radiator cap were what was wrong, for a long while now the Tire pressure management system has been ON, 24/7, my tires are not low. I bought new tires for the CRV. The mechanics don’t really seem interested in fixing anything.

We have to jump start our vehicle every time it is cold outside. Sometimes when it is warmer. Occasionally hear ticking sound inside of fuse box. Headlights have to be replaced often. Major electrical issue with this vehicle.

The lock actuator is malfunctioning. When driving, the driver's door unlocks and the lights turn on overhead, and the "door ajar" light blinks and beeps. This is very unsafe, as the driver side door unlocks and stays unlocked while driving on the highway and also at slower speeds.

My 2014 Honda CR-V EX does not initially start-up following the 3-step starting the engine process as outlined on page 239 of the CR-V owner's manual.It sometimes takes up to 6 to 12 times for the engine to engage.The starter appears to be defective as it was made.

Key fob stopped working. Doors continuously lock and unlock on their own whether it’s parked, driving, engine off or on and occupied or vacant. Replaced fob battery but all problems still exist including key fob nog working. Recall and class action suit settled for prior years but not 2014. Same problem. Honda needs to fix this issue

The contact owns a 2014 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while parked and attempting to open the rear lift gate, the lift gate failed to open. The contact stated while depressing the button on the rear hatch handle in cold weather, the lift gate failed to open. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure as they were attempting to diagnose the failure in a warm shop. The contact stated that the rear lift gate electrical mechanism in the handle was replaced; however, the failure recurred in cold weather. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the lift gate electrical mechanism a second time. The contact stated that the failure persisted in cold weather. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

1) The system is draining the battery while at rest. Have replaced battery 3 times, including last one several months ago. Dealership cannot fix. Safety: Getting stranded is a huge safety issue. 2) Car shimmies accelerating uphill. Dealer cannot seem to duplicate. Safety: Affects confidence while driving. 3) Tire pressure sensor is constantly firing off.

RE: 2014 HONDA CR-V ~ POWER TAILGATE OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY, HONDA PART NO. 74810-T0A-A02; HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN16-063 ISSUE: POWER TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: WE PURCHASED A 2014 HONDA CRV USED FROM A LOCAL HONDA DEALER IN 2020. NOT LONG AFTER THE PURCHASE, WE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS OPENING THE TAILGATE WHICH IS DESIGNED TO OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB. FREQUENTLY, THE BUTTON UNDER THE TAILGATE LIFT DOES NOT ACTIVATE AND THE TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF THE WEATHER IS COLD OR NOT. WE ARE PRESENTLY UNABLE TO CONVENIENTLY ACCESS 32.9 CUBIC FEET OF SPACE BEHIND THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS DUE TO THE FAULTY TAILGATE OPENER. THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS MUST FIRST BE LOWERED BEFORE GROCERIES, PETS, ETC. CAN BE PLACED INTO THAT REAR CARGO AREA. THIS PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. IF WE WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS AUTO ACCIDENT, FIRST RESPONDERS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE TAILGATE TO ACCESS THE REAR CARGO AREA IF IT WERE NECESSARY TO EXTRACT OCCUPANTS. WE RESEARCHED THIS TAILGATE OPENER PROBLEM ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT MANY HONDA CRV OWNERS HAVE POSTED ONLINE COMMENTS REFLECTING THEY HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOME CLAIMED THEY HAD THE SWITCH REPLACED EITHER UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT, AND STILL EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF POSTINGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN OUR 2014 HONDA CRV. IT IS APPARENT THAT THE OEM EQUIPMENT SWITCH ASSEMBLY INSTALLED BY HONDA IS FAULTY. WE FEEL THAT HONDA SHOULD OFFER A VOLUNTARY RECALL TO ALL HONDA CRV OWNERS WHO HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THIS FAULTY SWITCH ASSEMBLY. A FEW MONTHS AFTER BUYING THIS USED VEHICLE IN 2018, MY FIRST HONDA, I STARTED HAVING BATTERY ISSUES. I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK, AND WHEN LEAVING, 9ISH HOURS LATER, THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO CALL FOR A JUMP START AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. I THOUGHT BECAUSE IT WAS A SUCH A COLD WINTER, THIS MAY BE AFFECTING THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SO I BOUGHT A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER, WHICH I HAD TO USE A FEW OTHER TIMES. WINTER PASSED AND I JUST WHEN I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WHEN I'D DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SHORT DISTANCES TOO, EVEN IN SPRING/SUMMERTIME. I NOW ALWAYS HAVE TO CARRY MY PORTABLE JUMP STARTER BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF THE CAR IS GOING TO START ON IT'S OWN. SOMETIMES, I CAN GO WEEKS WITHOUT HAVING TO JUMPSTART IT, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO JUMPSTART IT EVERY MORNING. IT'S SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE AND SHOULDN'T BE NECESSARY. I'VE HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES, AND EACH TIME TESTS GOOD, MY MECHANIC HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO OTHER ISSUE WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE PART. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH MANY OTHER HONDAS, NOT JUST CR-V, BUT THE COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO ORDER A RECALL OR ADMIT THAT IT'S EVEN A PROBLEM. THIS IS WRONG. HOMDA NEEDS TO DIG DEEP AND FIND THEIR ISSUE. SO MANY DRIVERS AROUND THE COUNTRY CANNOT BE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE AND THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, AND HONDA NEEDS TO FIX IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WAS COLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BROWN'S HONDA CITY USED CARS (7154 RITCHIE HWY SUITE 100, GLEN BURNIE, MD 410) 760-6561) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEATER WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.

I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MANY 2014 HONDA CRV'S HAVE THE HEATING ISSUE DESCRIBED IN TSB 14-063 (NHTSA ID: 10120775 AND 10118028). MY 2014 CRV SUFFERS FROM THE SAME ISSUE. TO BE PRECISE, THE VENT ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT OF THE CAR (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR. ALL THREE VENTS TO THE RIGHT SEEM TO BLOW FINE.

WHILE IT IS STATIONARY, THE TAILGATE CANNOT BE OPEN EXTERNALLY WHEN IN COLD TEMPERATURE LIKE 35 DEGREES. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN IT INSIDE AND THUS NO WAY TO ESCAPE THROUGH THE TAILGATE FROM INSIDE. MY VEHICLE WAS STALLED IN THE EARLY MORNING OF JULY 17, 2019 IN A PARKING LOT AND TOWED TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP NEARBY. THE MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE VEHICLE STALL WAS CAUSED BY THE SHORTAGE OF ALL FUSES IN THE PRIMARY FUSE BOX DUE TO LEAKING OIL FROM THE TIMING CHAIN COVER OF THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT THE OIL LEAK OCCURRED FOR A WHILE SO IT SHORTED OUT THE FUSES THROUGH THE INCASED ELECTRICAL WIRES. I THINK THAT IT DEFINITELY IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE MY LIFE COULD BE IN A DANGER IF THE SHORTAGE OCCURRED WHEN I DROVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD MY TIRES ROTATED AND CAR SERVICED ON 6/21/19 AND ON 6/22/19 MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER DRIVING ONLY 2 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED MY TIRES AND ALL WERE AT 40LBS. I RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE CENSURE, AND A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS YET AGAIN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I CHECK MY PRESSURE AGAIN AND ALL WERE 40LBS. BEFORE MY TIRES WERE ROTATED MY LIGHT NEVER CAME ON, AND NOW IT COMES ON AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES A WEEK. NOT SURE IF IT IS THE SENSOR THAT HAS GONE BAD OR IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THE TIRES ARE ROTATING. MY CAR HAS 34,500 MILES ON IT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LOW AND HIGH BEAM BULBS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE HIGH AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE ADJUSTED TO THE LOWER POSITION, BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE LIGHTING FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DID NOT PROVIDE WIDE RANGE LIGHTING AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM SEEING A PEDESTRIAN IN THE DISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO SEE PEDESTRIANS AT A CLOSE DISTANCE WITH THE LOW BEAMS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. IT STARTED ABOUT 1YR AFTER GETTING THIS CRV, UPON CRANKING MAKING A GRINDING NOISE I TOOK TO SHOP SEVERAL TIMES THEY DID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NOW HERE LATELY I'VE HAD TO BOOST OF MY CRV SEVERAL TIMES, DO I TOOK TO SHOP TO CHECK BATTERY WHICH IS FINE, I DON'T HAVE TIME NOR MONEY TO KEEP GOING TO SHOP TO NOT HAVE ANYTHING DONE. I DESPERATLY AM AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN WORK IN FEAR IT WONT CRANK. IT ACTS LIKE IT WANRS TO TURN OVER BUT DOESN'T THEN SOMETIMES IT CRANKS RIGHT UP. THE COMPASS INDICATOR LIGHT WILL CONTINUOUSLY FLASH THE WRONG DIRECTION. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN STARTING THE CAR AS WELL AS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING EITHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. FOLLOWING THE RECALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL (DRIVING SLOWLY IN TIGHT CIRCLES) WILL USUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. THIS FIX MAY LAST A DAY OR AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES.

THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED AND I TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY BLAMED IT ON SOME CHARGING SOFTWARE ISSUE AND SAID THEY FIXED IT BY INSTALLING A SOFTWARE UPDATE. IT WORKED FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS AFTER BUT THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED LATER. IT CAN HAPPEN IN SUMMER OR WINTER, AND TOTALLY RANDOMLY. HONDA DEALER SERVICE ASSURED ME MULTIPLE TIMES THEY CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AT THIS POINT I AM TOTALLY AT LOSS ABOUT WHAT TO DO. I CAN GET A NEW BATTERY, BUT WHAT AM I GOING TO DO IF THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. I CAN NEVER PREDICT WHEN OR HOW IT WILL SHOW UP. IT CAN START WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS EVEN ON A REALLY COLD DAY, OR IT WOULD NOT START AFTER I MAKE A 20 MINUTE STOP AT THE GROCERY STORE. NEVER EXPECTED THIS WHEN I BOUGHT A HONDA.

SAFECAR.GOV 2-20-17 I KEEP HEARING A SOUND WHEN I START MY VEHICLE IN THE MORNING. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS AFTER WORK WHEN I START THE CAR TO GO HOME. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN DECEMBER 2016 AFTER MY VEHICLE REACHED APPROX 12,000 MILES. IT'S LIKE A GRINDING SOUND AND IS ONLY ON FOR A FEW SECONDS. MY LOCAL DEALER SAID IT IS NORMAL WITH HONDA. THAT DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT TO ME. IN ADDITION, AFTER MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON WHEN I'M DRIVING APPROX 25 MILES ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE MY VEHICLE HI CHECK UP, 12,170 MILES. THEN MY BATTERY DIED AT 13,129 MILES A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER MY MY MULTI-POINT INSPECTION, TIRE ROTATION, AND OIL CHANGE. THE AAA ROAD SIDE REPRESENTATIVE SAID I HAD BAD CELLS. TODAY, I READ ONLINE CONSUMER REPORTS OF GRINDING NOISE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WHO DRIVE A 2014 HONDA CR-V. I CALLED THE HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE WHO DENIED HEARING THE GRINDING NOISE COMPLAINTS. THEY DID GIVE ME A CASE NUMBER REGARDING MY PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. OUT OF THE BLUE, MY HONDA CR-V 2014 WON'T START, I HAVE TO JUMP IT, AND WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE, GOT MY BATTERY CHECK OUT AND EVERYTHING LEVEL OF THE BATTERY CAME BACK NORMAL. LUCKY ME, IT WAS HAPPENED ON THE WEEKEND AND I HAD SOMEONE WHO HAPPENED TO BE AROUND AND HELP ME. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT IT COULD HAPPENED TO ME ANY TIME, SO I DECIDED TO BUY A NEW BATTERY. WE HAVE 4 INSTANCES WHERE WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO START THE CRV BECAUSE OF A LOW BATTERY PROBLEM. THIS NECESSITATED USING A JUMP STARTER TO START THE CAR. I HAVE MEASURED THE VOLTAGE WITH A MULTI METER AND AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE THE VOLTAGE WILL BE ABOUT 12.4 VOLTS AND THE NEXT MORNING IT WILL BE ABOUT 11.8. MY LOAD TESTER INDICATED A WEAK RATING. SO OBVIOUSLY IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. BOUGHT THE CAR TO HONDA SUBARU OF SANTA FE IN NM ON 4/20/16 AND DEALT WITH JAMES THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE BATTERY OPERATED WITHIN SPECS. UPON ARRIVING HOME, 100 MILES AWAY, THE SAME SUB STANDARD CONDITION REOCCURRED. CONTACTING JAMES WITH MY SITUATION, JAMES SAID THAT BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS WITHIN SPECS HE WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. MAYBE 12.4 VOLTS IS ACCEPTABLE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN CAUSING A SURFACE CHARGE BUT IF IT DROPS TO 11.8 OVERNIGHT SOMETHING IS ASKEW. IF THEY HAD PERFORMED A LOAD TEST THAT PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN EVIDENT. WE NOW CARRY A JUMP STARTER WITH US BUT MY WIFE IS NOT ABLE TO USE IT WHICH I CONSIDER A SAFETY PROBLEM. JUDGING FROM ALL OF THE PROBLEMS ON THIS SITE, HONDA SHOULD BE MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE TO THE SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE NEEDS OF ITS CUSTOMERS. AFTER READING THESE POSTS, MOST POTENTIAL BUYERS OF HONDA PRODUCTS WOULD HAVE SERIOUS RESERVATIONS. MY ELDERLY MOTHER DIED IN A FIRE IN HER 2014 HONDA CR-V. THERE WERE NO WITNESSES TO THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS FIRST SEEN WHEN FULLY ENGULFED BY FLAME, 10 TO 20 MINUTES AFTER MY MOTHER WAS SEEN GETTING INTO HER CAR. UNKNOWN IF SHE LET IT IDLE BEFORE DRIVING. SHE DROVE ABOUT 1200 FEET. HER CAR WAS FOUND IN WET IVY AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HER KEY WAS IN HER HAND, AND SHE WAS LEANING TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, APPARENTLY TRYING TO ESCAPE THE FIRE. (BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ON A HILL, LEANING TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE, FLAMES FROM BENEATH THE CAR WERE STRONGEST ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND WOULD HAVE BLOCKED HER EXIT. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT COMPLETELY BURNED.) IT IS IMPROBABLE THAT THE IVY IGNITED BECAUSE IT WAS LATE FALL IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THE WEATHER HAD BEEN VERY WET FOR DAYS. I BELIEVE THAT A FIRE IGNITED SOMEWHERE IN THE VEHICLE AND THIS FIRE CAUSED MY MOTHER TO GO OFF THE ROAD. AN AUTOPSY SHOWED SHE DIED OF SMOKE INHALATION AND BURNS. THE CAR WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH RECENT SERVICING. NO SIGNS OF RECENT OIL LEAKAGE IN GARAGE. WE HAVE LOCATED OTHER 2012-2014 CR-V FIRES THAT BEGAN SPONTANEOUSLY. WITHIN 6 MILES OF LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING (TPM) LIGHT HAD COME ON INDICATING ONE OR MORE OF THE TIRES WAS LOW ON AIR. OUR SALESPERSON HAD ALREADY WARNED US ABOUT THIS DURING THE WALK THROUGH AT THE DEALERSHIP TELLING US THERE IS NO NEED FOR US TO PULL OVER BECAUSE MORE THAN LIKELY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. ALTERNATELY WE RESET IT BEFORE A 240 MILES ROUND TRIP HWY DRIVE AND THE TPM LIGHT DID NOT COME ON DURING THE ENTIRE HWY TRIP. THE PURPOSE OF THE GOVERNMENT MANDATING TPM IN ALL NEW CARS WAS TWO FOLD. FIRST FOR FUEL ECONOMY, SECOND FOR SAFETY. SINCE THE TPM LIGHT PROVIDES FALSE ALARMS EVERY WEEK, IT DOES NOT ACCOMPLISH EITHER GOAL. WE HAVE HAD NO FORMAL RESPONSE FROM HONDA ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS A PROBLEM OR THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO CHECKED TIRES AND DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM. DEALER RESET/RECALIBRATED TPMS BY PRESSING BUTTON. DROVE CAR FOR ANOTHER 300 MILES AND TPMS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. PERSONALLY CHECKED PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES WITH A MANUAL TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE. ALL FOUR TIRE PRESSURES WERE WITHIN SPEC AT 33 PSI. I RESET/RECALIBRATED THE TPMS BY PRESSING BUTTON. READ ON THE INTERNET THAT OTHER 2014 HONDA CR-V OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE TPMS WARNING CAN NOT BE RELIED ON BECAUSE IT GIVES FALSE INDICATIONS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE TPMS ON THE 2014 HONDA CR-V IS AN INDIRECT SYSTEM. THERE ARE NO ACTUAL PRESSURE SENSORS. IT USES THE WHEEL SPEED/ROTATION SENSORS TO DETERMINE WHEN THERE IS A TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEM. THE COMPUTER INDICATES A PROBLEM BASED ON DIFFERENT SPEEDS/ROTATION OF THE WHEELS. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SENSORS ARE THE PROBLEM OR IF IT IS THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE. *TR

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM IS INOPERATIVE AS WARNING LIGHT STAYS LIT CONSTANTLY. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY UPON DRIVE HOME FROM DEALER WITH BRAND NEW CAR. NO ADJUSTMENTS OR RE-SETTING WILL PREVENT LIGHT FROM GOING ON. RETURNED TO DEALER TWICE (DCH HONDA OLD BRIDGE NJ) TO NO AVAIL. NOTIFIED BY SERVICE MANAGER--[XXX] THAT HONDA ENGINEERING WAS CONTACTED BUT THEY HAD NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AMERICAN HONDA WAS CONTACTED BUT WAS ALSO OF NO HELP.
