This morning, I went to get into my 2014 Honda CR-V. As I shut the driver’s side door, the entire rear hatchback window suddenly shattered. There was no impact, accident, or attempted theft. The vehicle was parked and stationary at the time. I’m unsure why this happened, but it appears to have occurred spontaneously and without any external force.

I was driving with my family home and my vehicle began to move from side to side in a very violent manner. When I stopped and checked my vehicle I saw that the frame where the rear suspension arm is held was completely rusted and broken, the rear tire was about to completely detach from the vehicle and luckily I was able to stop without harming the health of my son and wife, after the incident I investigated and realized that it is a fairly common problem in multiple Honda CRV models of various years and so far no mechanic shop has wanted to repair my vehicle because they say that it is a major and very expensive repair, No warning lights came on before this happened and no one has wanted to inspect the vehicle, neither the dealer nor the insurance company, as they say this is not their problem but mine.

While parking at friend house behind her car partially on sidewalk, had to go fwd and reverse to park correctly. When switching to drive as car was on very slight decline (rear end higher) got sudden engine acceleration. Put in Neutral , saw RPM climb to about 3000 rpm and then several seconds later dropped to normal. All past unintended accelerations have been with front end on decline (lower than rear). Happens randomly maybe every few months. Have filed prior reports. Am on alert with hand on gear shift when slowing to a stop now.

On December 23, 2024, I purchased a 2014 Honda CRV. A few days later I noticed that the heating system was not working properly. I called the dealership and told them about the problem. They gave me an appointment with the service department to have the heating system looked at. The diagnosis was that it had a bad heater core. The service attendant told me that it was a common problem with the 2014 Honda CRVs and also Honda sent out service bulletin (Service bulletin #14063)about the problem. I stated it had only 49,000 miles on this vehicle. How can this be with Honda building reliable cars. They advised me that all it needed was a flushing of the heater core and that it was going to be at my expense and that there would be no absolute guarantee that it would solve the problem. If it did not work, the next step would be to replace the heater core, again at my expense ($1400.00) The flushing did not work at which the heater core was replaced. I don’t understand why this problem was not addressed by the Honda Company. If Honda doesn’t do a recall, at least stand by the Honda name and reimburse the owner for the defective part. Again, 49,000 miles.

Sudden Unintended Acceleration Vehicle has approx 60,700 miles and never a mechanical issue, been extremely reliable. Today [XXX] went shopping in Burlington ,MA (from Watertown, MA) no issues from 7:15AM departure to about 9:05 AM at friend house (XXX).. While parking on part of sidewalk, went into reverse. Then switched to "drive" to position vehicle and suddenly had obvious event of sudden unintended acceleration. Put in neutral and hit brake, as I am always on alert for issue based on past events. . Happened one more time a minute later and foot was not on accelerator but on brake as I switched between reverse and Drive. Made a point with wife in passenger seat to assure not on accelerator. Last time issue occurred was on [XXX] and recorded event even to Honda. On 6/13/24 someone called "Walter" called from Honda regarding my recording issues with Honda (5 incidences). As we were going on vacation I told him that he should call me back after 7/17/24 and he said OK, no problem. I never got a call back. Left vehicle with son-in-law who is master mechanic and he checked it while I was away. Cleaned Throttle body and other parts. Seemed to correct it and no problem at all until [XXX]. Am always prepared for a rare repeat event when coming to a stop or at a stop, hand on transmission shift and foot on brake. Problem is that it occurs rarely and no way a dealer or maybe even a Honda rep will pin down the cause as it's not repeatable. Will have son-in-law recheck it before wasting time with dealer or Honda again , neither of who will never find a cause or repeat it while they hold my vehicle. . Hi, I am [XXX] - owning Honda CRV 2014 model - the vehicle was purchased in Buffalo NY and used in Buffalo from 2014 till 2022 September. Currently I live in Georgia state and when I went for service at local dealer, they shown me most of the places under the vehicle was rusted and not sure how much time it will run. I know Honda has recalled many Honda crvs which ran on coldest places but I am not able to find a recall for this 2014 year to fix that rust problem. Could you please help with get that fixed. For 5th time since about July 2023, my HONDA CR-V 2014 vehicle experienced Sudden unexpeced acceleration" It has about 57,400 miles. It has occurred very sporadically only since about July 2023. Today as I was parking and going extremely slow in lot, I was about to stop though just creeping very slow, pushed on brake and felt a sudden surge forward. I placed transmission in neutral as I was feet away from parked car ahead of me, and engine rived up to about 2500 RPM for maybe 6-8 seconds and then back to normal idle speed of about 1100RPM. As in prior occasions, it has not recurred again but surely will in the furred. I know that nobody has really found a cause to the issue but called dealer (Honda City, Newton, MA) and spoke to service rep. He claimed he had no clue what I was talking about and merely said it has been since 2020 (37,000 miles) since you replaced transmission fluid, as it that has any bearing since suggested change is after 30k-50k miles and already clanged twice. I sent an email to Honda (Case # [XXX]) and waiting to hear back. Obviously the dealer is playing dumb and just wants to do irrelevant unnecessary service or look at error codes (there have been none) at big cost with no results as in other cases. From the moment we drove off the lot, this car had had one issue after another, nearly cause me to lose my job because I couldn’t make it to work due to the car being busted. It was getting really bad MPGs, they said it’s fine. It started overheating, they said the coolant fans and radiator cap were what was wrong, for a long while now the Tire pressure management system has been ON, 24/7, my tires are not low. I bought new tires for the CRV. The mechanics don’t really seem interested in fixing anything.

This Honda CRV has less than 100k miles and the transmission has a faulty actuator the car shudders between acceleration 20-40 mph. As a consumer I feel that I have been taken advantage of if Honda doesn't issue a recall to this problem. You guys need to issue a recall on this problem. I did not buy a bag of Cheetos it is a lot of money that I paid for this car $23k so the car maker responsibility to correct the problem that I have noticed a lot of customers have. Thank you

I have has this car for several years and recently the rear hatch stopped unlocking which brought up a extreme concern. This car has no way to open the trunk from the inside that is able to access with out a tool set. Does this not fall under 571.401 Standard 401: Interior trunk release? There is also no way to open the rear hatch any way from the back like with a key or open feature. If your lock goes bad, you have to pay $500 to access the back. The current hatch release is behind a panel (that needs a tool to remove) then a small thin wire tool is needed to manually open the hatch. If you can not get out of the front passenger doors, or the seats are locked preventing folding down, you can not get out of the back of this car and I find this very concerning.

In cold weather, rear liftgate will not release resulting in failure to access rear of car. Unable to access jack or spare tire in case of flat tire in colder weather (below 50F). Puts me at risk if I have a flat tire during travel. Review online indicates this is a known or common problem with 2014 Honda CRVs. Several mentioned continuing problems with liftgate after spending several hundred dollars for repairs at dealers. Problem continues to worsen as vehicle ages. Intermittent problem with liftgate began in November 2015, has progressed and am now unable to use liftgate at all in cold weather.

The heat on the driver side blows cold air. The windshield on winter does not defrost completely due to cold air on that side it is the heater core that is blocked for the driver side. Passenger side has no issue with heat. I’ve been informed that this is a heater core issue and needs to be flushed and have build up removed on heater core. My vehicle has only 40,000 miles.

A Honda CR-V 4D 4WD has the following problems including a faulty VTC actuator (a loud, grinding engine noise for approximately 4 seconds during a cold start-up), timing chain, and excessive oil consumption. This car was bought on November 17, 2016 and the VTC actuator had to be replaced 26 days later (December 13, 2016) by the Honda dealership with a total of 31,063 miles on the car. At this time, the timing chain has to be replaced along with the (intermediate shaft with seals) and the serpentine belt. All oil changes have been on time and up to date and a synthetic oil is used. With an additional 1,000 miles left to the due date of the next oil change, there was no oil present on the dip stick.

On August 10, I was driving at moderate speed in Rancho Santa Fe, CA and without any warning, a shiny, elongated object was hurled into my windshield with such an alarming thud and force that I nearly veered off the road and was considerably traumatized by this event. I took the car to a Honda dealer/service dept in Carlsbad, CA and it was confirmed that it was the front bar of the car had become detached. I had gone back to the road and was unable to find the part. There were no prior signs of any problem with the front bar.

The a/c on the passenger side is cold. The a/c on the driver side is blowing hot air. This started about a week ago. In searching the internet, it seems that this is a fairly common issue with the 2014 CR-V and other years of the CRV. Yet there is no recall by Honda. I am planning to take the car to the dealer and get this fixed, but since it is a common problem I am hoping that it will become a recall and that I will be able to get a refund as I am certain this is going to cost quite a bit.

The 2014 CRV has developed a problem with no heat out of vents on driver side or driver side defroster, though passenger side heat/defroster works. I found a service bulletin online A14-063, and had local Honda dealership diagnose problem and then perform a flush of the heater core. This did not solve the problem and if there was any improvement it was extremely minimal. This issue is clearly a known problem or there would not be a service bulletin. However, even after that service bulletin procedure my vehicle continues to have the same problem. This lack of heat on the driver side and lack of heat through driver side defroster poses a safety issue when the windshield won't properly clear in winter driving. Honda should offer a recall on the heater core for these vehicles with lack of heat on driver side.

Driver side 's air vent heat vent is not working properly. During winter, the windshield is not fully warm and hard to do defrost. According to Honda, they recognized the issue of heator core and had issued a service bulletin about the issues of heater core problem to remove clogging. It should be recalled to fix the issue rather than making the owner replacing the expensive part. Thank you.

1) The system is draining the battery while at rest. Have replaced battery 3 times, including last one several months ago. Dealership cannot fix. Safety: Getting stranded is a huge safety issue. 2) Car shimmies accelerating uphill. Dealer cannot seem to duplicate. Safety: Affects confidence while driving. 3) Tire pressure sensor is constantly firing off.

2014 Honda CRV rattling noise upon cold start at 20,000 miles into owning vehicle. Dealership could not locate the problem nor witness the problem each time we reported this whenever we brought the car in for oil changes...Problem became progressively worse over the years. Now that the rattling is essentially heard every time the car is started, we have taken it in. We are told we need a "new engine" because we need a new VTC actuator. We are also told that the car is burning oil. The new engine costs $4800 (NJ). Will this solve the problem that obviously is a Honda defect? Will the new engine have VTC actuators that will not fall apart in 1 year?... Honda has known about this problem for YEARS!

ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AFTER BEING PARKED (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES. ONCE IT HIT THE CAR BEHIND IT, AND ON THE OTHER I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AND HIT THE BRAKE (WHICH RESPONDED) BEFORE IT ROLLED OUT INTO THE STREET. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROGRAM, AND I WAS TOLD THEY ARE GOING TO DO NOTHING UNLESS IT MALFUNCTIONS IN FRONT OF THEM, OR I GET AN ENGINE ERROR CODE. *TR

I HAD NOT USED THE CAR ALL DAY, BUT AROUND 5:45 PM (03/12/20) I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO AN APPOINTMENT. AS I PULLED INTO THE PARKING AREA IN FRONT OF THE SHOP, I SAW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS STEAM COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND TRIED TO RELEASE THE HOOD LATCH, WHILE I WAS DOING THAT A MAN BANGED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND TOLD ME TO QUICKLY GET OUT OF THE CAR. I DID SO AND AS I WAS WALKING TOWARDS THE SHOP THE CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. SOMEONE FROM THE STORE CALL 911, A POLICEMAN ARRIVED AND TACKLED THE FIRE WITH HIS FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUT IT FAILED TO CONTROL THE FIRE. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS 3 FIRE ENGINES WERE ON THE SCENE. THEY ASKED PEOPLE TO MOVE ADJACENT CARS AND EVACUATED THE STORES AROUND THE FIRE. THEY EVENTUALLY PUT OUT THE FIRE.

I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT FOR HONDA'S VTC ACTUATOR. MY HONDA CRV 2014 WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW SEPTEMBER 2014. AT 50,000 MILES THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLING/GRINDING NOISE WHEN STARTED IN THE COLD. I WAS ASSURED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I HAVE NOW FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT FROM THE VTC ACTUATOR THAT ALL HONDA CRV'S FROM THIS YEAR ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT FROM HONDA. AS A CONSUMER WHO PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE, HONDA SHOULD HAVE REPLACED/FIXED THIS ISSUE ON ANY VEHICLE THAT IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS A DEFECT. I STILL HAVE YET TO FIX IT AND WOULD HOPE THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAULTY PART THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN BRAND NEW VEHICLES.

VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO TOWN(25MI) - UPON THE RETURN TO RESIDENCE FIRE BROKE OUT UNDER ENGINE IN DRIVEWAY. CAR SERVICED EVERY 5K MILES. NO OTHER ISSUES PRIOR TO FIRE WITH VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60MPH) ON A SUNNY BUT NOT HOT DAY (45 DEG.) WE HEARD A LOUD BANG LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE AREA AND WE DID NOT PASS UNDER ANY OVERPASS. UPON INSPECTION OF THE CAR AFTER STOPPING, WE SAW THE SUNROOF HAD A LARGE HOLE (6-8 INCHES) AND APPEARED TO HAVE EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE, SINCE THE BROKEN AREA WAS BULGING UP. WE SUBMITTED A CLAIM WITH OUR INSURANCE CARRIER, AND WAS TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE. WE EXPECT TO GET THE DAMAGED SUNROOF REPLACED NEXT WEEK WHEN THE GLASS IS AVAILABLE. THE GLASS STORE PUT A SHEET OF CLING PLASTIC OVER THE HOLE FOR TEMPORARY CLOSURE.

THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE, AND OCCURS WHETHER MOVING OR STATIONARY. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE COMPROMISED DEFROST ABILITY. MY 2014 CRV HAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WHEN I AM IN DRIVE BUT IDLING. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. ONLY WHEN IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND STOPPED. IT IS EXCESSIVE. MY STEALING WHEEL VIBRATES, CUPS...PENS.. IT COMES THROUGH MY SEAT AND IT KIND OF MAKES ME SICK. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO HONDA SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE HAD MOTOR MOUNTS AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS REPLACED. I HAVE HAD A COMPRESSOR REPLACED. NONE OF THIS HAS STOPPED THE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. THIS ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES. VEHICLE WHEN RIDING AT A STEADY RISING SPEED AND IT COMES TO 2 POINT ON THE MILAGE AS 30MPH OR 40MPH THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE CONTINOUSLY UNTILL GAS PEDAL IS LET GO OR STRONGLY PRESSED TO ACCELERATE. THIS ACTION CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, AS WELL AS THE VEHICLE WHEN IT SHAKES SOME TIMES ARE MORE STRONG THEN OTHER, IT VARIES ON THE POWER OF THE SHAKE.

EVENTUALLY, WE HAD TO PAY FOR A COMPLETE NEW COMPASS SYSTEM TO BE INSTALLED.

CAR SHAKES, JERKS, AND "JUDDERS" BETWEEN 20 AND 40MPH UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. THIS WAS DIAGNOSED BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP AS BEING THE ISSUE ADDRESSED IN HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 15-086, BUT THEY WILL ONLY FIX IT AT THEIR COST IF YOU ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. FIXING, ACCORDING TO HONDA REQUIRES REPLACING THE TORQUE CONVERTER, UPDATING THE PCM, AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THAT'S A PRETTY EXPENSIVE BILL FOR IT BEING THEIR SOFTWARE ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE. CAR ALSO MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE ON COLD STARTS. WAS INFORMED THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE VTC ACTUATOR, BUT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR IT.

THE DRIVER SIDE HEAT VENT BLOWS OUT COLD AIR IN MY 2014 HONDA CRV. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO HONDA AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE A RECALL. APRIL 26, 2018 I BOUGHT MY WIFE'S HONDA 2014 CR-V NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2014. WE ARE BOTH QUITE HAPPY WITH THE CAR, WITH ONE SIGNIFICANT EXCEPTION. THE TPMS DOES NOT WORK. IN 2014 HONDA CHANGED THEIR TPMS FROM THE CONVENTIONAL SYSTEM WHICH USES PRESSURE SENSORS IN THE WHEELS. INSTEAD, IT COMPARES THE REVOLUTIONS OF THE TIRES ON THE THEORY THAT A LOW TIRE WILL ROTATE FASTER THAN A NORMALLY INFLATED TIRE. THIS IS A GOOD IDEA IN THEORY. HOWEVER, IN PRACTICE IT DOES NOT WORK. THE SOFTWARE MUST ACCOUNT FOR THE FACT THAT THE TIRES DO NOT ROTATE EQUALLY ON TURNS. ALSO, SLIGHT (AND ACCCEPTABLE) DIFFERENCES IN PRESSURE OR TIRE WEAR WILL RESULT IN ERRORS THAT THE SOFTWARE MUST DEAL WITH. HONDA ISSUED TSB 14-006 IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, BUT IF IT HAS BEEN APPLIED TO OUR CAR IT HAS NOT WORKED. THE TPMS LIGHT ON OUR CR-V IS UNRELIABLE. IT OCCASIONALLY LIGHTS WHEN THE TIRES ARE OK, BUT HAS FAILED TO INDICATE LOW OR FLAT TIRES FOR US SEVERAL TIMES. MY WIFE WENT TO THE DEALER IN PRESCOTT, AZ, THIS MORNING TO ASK WHETHER TSB 14'006 HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE CAR. THE REPLY WAS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AND IF THE TPMS LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON, THERE IS NO NEED TO DO IT. WE CAN LIVE WITH A NON-FUNCTIONAL TPMS SYSTEM. OUR PREVIOUS CARS WORKED WELL WITHOUT IT. OUR NORMAL MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES REQUIRE CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES PERIODICALLY. FOR SOME REASON THIS CAR DOES NOT PULL TO THE SIDE WHEN A TIRE GOES FLAT. A TPMS SHOULD FLAG A TIRE FAILURE WHEN ON THE ROAD. THREE TIMES WE HAVE HAD A TIRE FAIL WHILE DRIVING, WITH NO TPMS INDICATION. OUR LOSS HAS BEEN ONLY THREE TIRES; NO ACCIDENT RESULTED. IN MY OPINION THIS IS POTENTIALLY A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.

ON THE MORNING OF JULY 25TH, 2017, I OBSERVED A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR WINDOW IN MY 2014 HONDA CRV . UNLOCKING AND OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR TO PUT SOMETHING IN AND THEN CLOSING THE DOOR, I HEARD A LOUD CRUNCHING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS OPENED AGAIN AND I GOT INTO THE CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR. AGAIN THE SAME CRUNCHING NOISE WAS HEARD. LOOKING IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR, I OBSERVED THE REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED INTO A "MILLION" PIECES. THE NOISE THAT WAS HEARD WAS THE PIECES OF GLASS DROPPING OUT OF THE WINDOW. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF THE CAR AND DO NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING HITTING THE WINDOW FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. ALL THE DOORS HAD BEEN LOCKED SO IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ATTEMPTED BURGLARY. IT IS PRESUMED THAT THE GLASS SHATTERED AND IMPLODED DUE TO DEFECTIVE GLASS MANUFACTURING AND/OR INSTALLATION. THE TEMPERATURES IN OUR AREA CAN REACH 100 DURING THE DAY AND DOWN TO 65 DURING THE NIGHT.

NOW INSTEAD OF FALSE WARNINGS 3 -4 TIMES A MONTH, NOW I GET FALSE WARNINGS 3 - 4 TIMES A YEAR. BUT THE WARNINGS ARE ALWAYS FALSE! LIKE THE LITTLE BOY THAT KEEPS CRYING WOLF, THIS SYSTEM IS COUNTER PRODUCTIVE IN THAT OWNERS WILL BEGIN TO IGNORE THE WARNING SYSTEM ALTOGETHER.

GRINDING NOISE UPON CAR STARTING. UPON STARTING THE CAR THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE THAT LAST APPROXIMATELY 1-1.5 SECONDS. I FIRST NOTICED THIS SOUND ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THAT THEY HEAR THIS COMPLAINT OFTEN. THEY SAID THAT HONDA WAS AWARE, BUT THAT THEY HAVE NOT PLACED A RECALL ON IT. I ACCEPTED THAT THEY WERE GIVING ME ACCURATE INFORMATION AND FIGURED I WOULD GET A RECALL ON IT EVENTUALLY. RECENTLY, THE CAR CONTINUES TO MAKE THE GRINDING NOISE, BUT ALSO ACTS AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO START ON COLD MORNINGS. FAULTY TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM (TPMS). THIS SENSOR GIVES FAULTY READING EVEN THERE IS NO DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE TPMS LIGHT COMES WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING AND AFTER IT TRAVELS LONGER THAN 50 MI ON A HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BE RESOLVED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THE SAME PROBLEM BY OWNERS OF 2014 HONDA CR-V ACROSS THE COUNTRY. HONDA IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM AND PLEASE FORCE THEM TO RECALL THE CAR AND FIX THE PROBLEM FOR GOOD.

MY ELDERLY MOTHER DIED IN A FIRE IN HER 2014 HONDA CR-V. THERE WERE NO WITNESSES TO THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS FIRST SEEN WHEN FULLY ENGULFED BY FLAME, 10 TO 20 MINUTES AFTER MY MOTHER WAS SEEN GETTING INTO HER CAR. UNKNOWN IF SHE LET IT IDLE BEFORE DRIVING. SHE DROVE ABOUT 1200 FEET. HER CAR WAS FOUND IN WET IVY AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HER KEY WAS IN HER HAND, AND SHE WAS LEANING TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, APPARENTLY TRYING TO ESCAPE THE FIRE. (BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ON A HILL, LEANING TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE, FLAMES FROM BENEATH THE CAR WERE STRONGEST ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND WOULD HAVE BLOCKED HER EXIT. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT COMPLETELY BURNED.) IT IS IMPROBABLE THAT THE IVY IGNITED BECAUSE IT WAS LATE FALL IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THE WEATHER HAD BEEN VERY WET FOR DAYS. I BELIEVE THAT A FIRE IGNITED SOMEWHERE IN THE VEHICLE AND THIS FIRE CAUSED MY MOTHER TO GO OFF THE ROAD. AN AUTOPSY SHOWED SHE DIED OF SMOKE INHALATION AND BURNS. THE CAR WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH RECENT SERVICING. NO SIGNS OF RECENT OIL LEAKAGE IN GARAGE. WE HAVE LOCATED OTHER 2012-2014 CR-V FIRES THAT BEGAN SPONTANEOUSLY. I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST PURCHASED A CAR THAT NEEDS A COMPLETE SET OF NEW TIRES. FUNNY THING IS ONE OF THE TIRES ACTUALLY DID GET FLAT MAYBE 5 MONTHS AND I REPLACED THAT TIRE WITH ANOTHER CONTINENTAL TIRE (BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IF YOU GET NEW TIRES YOU NEED TO GET AT LEAST 2 OF THE SAME) NOT WANTING TO BUY 2 NEW TIRES I OPTED JUST TO GET 1 OF THE SAME BRAND. THE ATTENDANT FROM FIRESTONE COULDN'T EVEN TELL WHICH TIRE (5 MONTHS OLD) WAS NEW. RIDICULOUS AND SERIOUSLY UNSAFE ARE THESE TIRES.

THE AIR TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS. TO USE HIGH BEAMS WOULD BE DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. PREVIOUSLY HAD ODYSSEY THAT GOT 22 MPG IN TOWN. IT HAD A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. I THOUGHT THAT THE 4 CYLINDER CR-V WOULD DO BETTER THAN THAT, BUT DOES NOT DO BETTER IN TOWN. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS IN TOWN DRIVING. COST OF DOING REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE IS HIGH AT MY HONDA DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE INSPECTIONS AS PART OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE ARE VERY HIGH. I HAVE LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND $75 OVER AND ABOVE THE PRICE FOR THE OIL CHANGE SEEMED PRETTY STEEP TO ME. THE FACT THE DEALER WON'T EVEN LET ME MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO CHECK THIS CAR, AND WITH MUCH RESEARCH BY MYSELF, THERE IS 100'S OF THESE SAME REPORTS VIA GOOGLE, YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH EXACT SOUNDS. I DEMAND THIS CAR TO BE FIXED, IT IS NOT STARTING CORRECTLY, AND I AM GETTING ZERO ASSISTANCE FROM THE HONDA DEALER HERE IN ROCHESTER, NY. PURCHASED NEW 2014 HONDA CR-V ON 12/19/14. DURING THE PURCHASE THE SALES PERSON WAS SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) PROBLEM, WHICH PER THE NHTSA COMPLAINT PROCESS HAS EXISTED IN THE HONDA 2014 CR-V MODELS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2013. THE SALES PERSON WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. ASKED THE SALES PERSON TO VERIFY THE MANUFACTURE DATE OF THE VEHICLE TO BE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS SEPTEMBER 2014. THE NEXT DAY (12/20/14) WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN SOME 25 MILES (THE ODOMETER READ 115 MILES WHEN PURCHASED). TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE 30 PSI PER SPECIFICATIONS. RESET THE TMPS FOLLOWING OWNER MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 12/22/14. A SOFTWARE PATCH (VERSION OHA240 DECEMBER 2014) WAS INSTALLED. HONDA CONTINUES TO MANUFACTURE AND SELL A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN POTENTIAL SAFETY DEFECT. PAST "FIXES" DO NOT SEEM ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. WHEN WILL SOMEONE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND SOLVE IT?

THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY BUT FREQUENTLY: AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, ATTEMPT TO PROCEED AND STEP ON ACCELERATOR AND THERE IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL LACK OF ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD AT AN IDLE PACE. THIS SITUATION MAY LAST FOR 20 SECONDS OR SO AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS AND THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE NORMALLY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS AS THE VEHICLE IS LIMITED TO MOVING AT A CRAWL PACE WHEN IT HAPPENS.
