I have had all warning lights go on disabled some options, gave me incorrect speed, (i ended up w a speeding ticket over that) made my vehicle go in limp mode ,didn't want to accelerate on highway, could have caused an accident I have a young child and was scared to even drive it. It turned out to be my fuel injectors which was very pricey and I had honda do the repair. I have seen a whole lot of people with this issue with the engine I have which is the 1.5 turbo. I think it should be addressed by honda and they should really be fixing the issue at no cost especially since they know the original injectors were faulty and they changed the part number. Hope it gets addressed on behalf of hundreds of thousands of these vehicles and not so happy honda customers.

I have had my crv suddenly brake on me on multiple occasions when absolutely no one is around to cause it. It’s created many of close calls and given me mild whip lash in the past. But yesterday it happened in a way much worse than ever bc I was on the interstate and it abruptly stopped (again no one in front of me or to the side) which jolted me and gave me some brutal whiplash and then it was locked up & wouldn’t go faster than 20mph!! I was in the left lane & I almost got hit by multiple people behind me & almost died! I had to drive like this for 3-5 minute (hazards on of course) until I could ‘safely’ pull over. Once i turned it off and turned it back on, it went back to accelerating normally. I have taken my car to the Honda dealership for every oil change I’ve gotten & this issue has never come up on their full vehicle inspection. I cannot emphasize enough how close I came to dying bc of this. I really hope a resolution or recall happens sooner than later bc I’m now learning there’s 1000’s of people online saying they’ve had similar experiences. It should not take years to address this when there are so many lives at stake. Please help. Sincerely, terrified to drive my car now (& that’s not good considering I drive for work)

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Is automatically warning and has engaged when no object is ahead. Seems to be picking up overhead/over roadway traffic signals and signage.

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the randomly vanishing dashboard, all sorts of warning lights and its recurring issues. I see a recall for 2017 CRV for Fuel injector. I don't see my VIN for fuel injector recalls and most likely my CRV issue with fuel injector. Fuel injector replacement is a major repair. I. I scheduled an appointment with AutoNation Honda Chandler,AZ,to troubleshoot an issue. I believe these issues may stem from a design or manufacturing flaw. I am requesting that Honda cover the full cost of the necessary repairs.

Driving down an in town road going approximately 35 mph with no cars within 5 car lengths front side and back when I hear three beeps and my car brakes hard on its own and then continues. It was scary and I pulled off the road to a parking lot to turn the car off and on. While today I didn’t have anyone tailgating me, this could have easily been a bad accident in town traffic. I plan to contact my dealer tomorrow to report and have safetysystem checked and adjusted. I see that others have experiences like this and online was advised to report this.

Back in July, my car started having the lights come on; it lit up the whole dashboard. The brake system, tire pressure, brake hold system, hill start, adaptive cruise control, etc. It affected the power of the vehicle. There was no acceleration at all. It was like it went in limp mode. This has happened numerous times. The other problem is starting it was making a hesitation to start. It would also start rough as in almost like a shake. We noticed that it was using antifreeze more often than it should and would get hot sitting still. That's when we took car to be inspected by a certified mechanic and that's when we found out that we needed a new engine due to antifreeze seeping into the engine.

while driving on a clear day, i went under a bridge on a downhill slope and the car flashed the brake warning and applied the breaks automatically almost causing the car behind me to hit me. Dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue. this has happened a few times. once on the highway and another time slowly going through a construction site where there was a dip in the road. the last issue happened on 9/27/2025. the first issue was in March of 2024

On 9/2/25 all the engine lights came on on the dash. I replaced the battery and it was fine the rest of the day. Then 9/3/25 once again all the lights are on and none of the ADAS work.

Occasionally, for no reason, automatically brakes and issues the brake warning notification despite no traffic in front of the vehicle. When a vehicle brakes for no reason in traffic, the risk is that you will be hit from behind.

My cruise control will not work. Lane departure is not working. All my lights are on in my new vehicle I just purchased. BAD FUEL INJECTORS seem to be the problem. Honda should recall these bad fuel injectors before a serious accident occurs.

My vehicle braked hard on its own as I approached a metal pot hole cover in the street. It also flashes a BRAKE warning when I cross over shadows, such as from an overpass.

All auxiliary safety system warning lights came on at once, with ABS, TPMS, collision avoidance and adaptive cruise all rendered inoperable. Dealer says faulty fuel injectors are to blame. It has not been looked at yet due to not having funds to get it looked at. I do know others have the same consistent issue with these models especially when they’d get around 70,000 miles. All of the warning lights the last few months would continue to cut on and off. Now they just stay on. The Car drives fine though but is a safety hazard since it can’t tell us if something is wrong.

Within the past 2 months, while driving the car I have experienced 2 instances with the CMBS system unexpectedly applying the brakes, even though there was no obstacles it's path.

Mileage: 95,000 Description of Incident: On [XXX] while driving my 2017 Honda CR-V at approximately [XXX] at 20 mph I experienced a sudden brake system failure. When I pressed the brake pedal fully to stop the vehicle, the pedal felt extremely hard and resistant, and the vehicle continued moving, failing to slow or stop as expected and hitting the vehicle in front. While no major accident happened due to how slow I was going, This occurred as I was approaching a traffic light. I did not apply the electronic parking brake (EPB) during the incident. No warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard at the time of the failure. Immediately after the incident, the brakes began functioning normally again, suggesting an intermittent issue. I am concerned about the reliability of the brake system, especially given reports of brake issues in 2017–2019 CR-Vs. I have not yet had the vehicle inspected but plan to tow it to a Honda dealership or mechanic for diagnosis. I am reporting this to ensure the NHTSA is aware of this potential safety defect, which may be related to the ongoing investigation into 2017–2019 Honda CR-V brake systems. While I’m driving the car suddenly breakes.

So for over a year my dash lights and I mean every light from tire pressure to ABS brake to lane assist every light was on. Then about three months four months ago it began going into limp mode just driving down the road. This is a 2017 Honda CRV over 100,000 miles on it took it into Honda of Hennessy in Woodstock Georgia. They said that it needed fuel injectors which over 300,000 recalls were done for the same Thing except mine cost me $2200 to fix what has happened to Honda. Before I could get it to a dealership because I live over an hour and a half away, the car would just shut down and I would have to pull over stop the car crank it back up hold my breath and go till the next time it would go into limp mode

On startup all safety warning lights flashed on and disabled all safety driving aids. This persisted and took to Honda dealer. Their diagnostics revealed faulty fuel injectors with code P0304 failed number 4 cylinder. Recommend replacing fuel injector go for $2000.

The AEB system is falsely being triggered, causing a sudden stop or drastic slow down of my CRV when there's nothing present to trigger the system. My car would drastically slow down, nearly causing a rear end collision from another vehicle. I've experience the problem on multiple occasions, in different locations, while going different speeds. The car has not experienced any other electronic or mechanical issue. The warning message did show on the dash as the car came to a halt.

While driving down a main road, with no other vehicles or obstacles around/in front of me, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) beeped/flashed and my car came to almost a dead stop in the middle of the road. This happened without warning, or any previous warning/issues. Luckily no accident happened, as I don't believe a vehicle was behind me (but this could've gone horribly wrong had there been). It was a very windy day. I took it to a Honda dealership the same week, they found no issues and also could not reproduce this. I called Honda Customer Service, who was apologetic, but really no help, and only filed a complaint for me. I see this as being a high potential safety hazard for accidents, etc., and it makes me nervous now driving my vehicle, especially since this is something I cannot turn off. I wanted to file a report here as well, in hopes that investigations are happening for this issue.

The dash warning lights all come on when the vehicle is started. Numerous Warning messages scroll across the dash indicating just about every system on the vehicle is malfunctioning. The collision warning system stops working, the lane change warning stops working, cruise control stops working. I have no idea what else could have stopped working that could mean the difference between life and death. My vehicle has had this problem for almost two years now. This problem stops after disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then it comes back unpredictably. Honda dealerships just guess what the problem is because there are no definitive error codes. They randomly want to change parts like fuel injectors, onboard computer, brakes, battery, and others, and charge thousands of dollars and will not refund the money when the problem reappears. This problem is putting drivers at serious risk and Honda has done absolutely nothing to find and repair the problem. There are hundreds of reports of this problem online and Honda has not responded. Honda dealerships are making tons of money from this issue and doing nothing to solve the problem.

We have had this problem more than once but this morning it nearly caused an accident. My husband was driving to work and all of a sudden the car's automatic breaking system caused the car to stop dead, causing the car behind him to have to swerve up on the sidewalk to avoid hitting him. He was not going over a metal plate, there waDSs no car stopped in front of him. This has happened at least ten times in the time we have owned the car and we have been INCREDIBLY lucky that it has not caused an accident, but it's still clearly a problem. We have complained about this to the dealership when we bring it in but they just shrug since they can't reproduce it and it seems to happen randomly. Just all of a sudden driving along BRAKE will flash on the dashboard and the car will stop abruptly.

Multiple times when driving the vehicle will slam on the brakes without warning when there is nothing in front of the vehicle. I have taken it to Honda multiple times and they cannot fix it due to being unable to recreate the spontaneous issue. Also, they did try to recalibrate the sensor, and it still did not work. I don't feel safe driving this car and can't sell it knowing it is dangerous.

2017 HONDA CRV had several warning lights came on and dealer indicated it was fuel injection problem. Dealer charged $ 1500 and fixed problem. Again this year same warnings light came on. Dealer is indicating it's due to Timimg chain issue and dealer wants to pull parts from Engibe to see what the problem is and depending on what the problem is fix it. Dealer wants to charge more money depending on what they find and is high cost item. Delaer is not specific.

The CMBS system malfunctions and phantom brakes when there isn’t anything obstructing the road. It has done it 5 or 6 times, and the dealership can’t do anything to fix it.

Risk: is obvious Confirmed by independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer. There were not any warnings prior.

We bought this vehicle new in 2017 and now have about 78K miles on it. Since we have owned it there have been SEVERAL (at least 7) occasions where we are driving along on the highway at 35-70MPH (depending on the speed limit) and the emergency forward collision braking system suddenly applies the brakes for no reason. This has happened during daylight and nightime on the open road with no vehicles or objects anywhere in front of us or close to the side of us and, on a few occasions, nearly causing vehicles behind us to crash into us because the brakes come on unexpectedly and we are unable to do anything about it. Early on, we reported this a couple times to our Honda dealer and we were told, "that can happen if there is blowing rain or snow or even a bird flying buy, it is normal so don't worry about it." Well, it IS something to worry about because it randomly happens again and again, and we recently almost had a huge accident on Interstate 79 because of it! What is most bothersome about this DEFECT in design or implementation is that the driver has no way of knowing in advance it is going to happen because it is a random occurrence with no rhyme or reason behind it, and there is nothing the driver can do to prevent it or minimize its effects! PLEASE, investigate this and force it to be fixed because lives could easily be lost from this phantom braking if none have been lost yet!

My 2017 Honda CRV throws up ALL warning lights regarding TPMS, Lane Keep Assist, Cruise, Engine, etc...I've replaced the battery. I've taken it to the dealer and they just say we don't know what it is and we would like to hold it for 24-48hrs to do a diagnostic which is $250 out of pocket without a fix. Multiple forums state that this is a consistent problem with the 2017-2021 model years. One common fix is fuel injector replacement, but that only temporarily fixes the issue then all the lights come on again. It's a hazard and since all mechanisms are controlled by electronics, we need Honda to fix the issue or look into it as it's very dangerous to drive when dealers can't even isolate the issue.

I was driving my dogs to their grooming appt and they were sitting in the front passenger seat around 10am. I was driving a little under the speed limit of 40. There were no cars in front of me but there was behind and to the left of me driving. I was not approaching a stop sign or stop light, just driving down the boulevard, when out of the blue the emergency automatic breaking system applied the brakes very hard. I had my seat belt on, but my dogs flew to the floor of the front passenger seat. I was so concerned about my dogs I didn’t even look to see if someone almost rear ended me, but there was NOT a collision luckily. I pulled into a parking lot and checked on my dogs. Obviously our safety was at risk because the brakes applied themselves right out on the busy road with no warning at all and for no reason. There was nobody in front of me and no obstructions when the brakes applied themselves. I have not reported this problem to the dealer but I plan to after this incident. It has actually happened a few other times, but I was by myself the other times. Noone has inspected the vehicle and component for this problem, namely because it has not been the cause of an accident or crash so far luckily. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the car activating the emergency braking system, although once the brake was applied the flashing “brake” sign came on the screen. There was no warning for any previous occurence either, as I mentioned this has happened a few times before.

The car had just 44,242 miles when this problem started on 8/21/2024. Two months later, the problem persists. The safety systems of the car fail upon startup and remain this way for multiple cycles of driving the car. The reality is that I cannot check enough boxes above because the form doesn't allow me. The following warnings all come up at the same time: - Emission System Problem - Brake System Problem - Brake Hold System Problem - Power Steering System (EPS) Problem - Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem - Hill Start Assist Problem - Adaptive Cruise Control Problem - Collision Mitigation System Problem - Road Departure Mitigation System Problem - Electronic Parking Brake Problem - Tire Pressure Monitor Problem Eventually, after some amount of time or some number of restarts, the warnings clear and the safety systems work again. Then, the problem reappears.

Several times the braking system has engaged thinking there was something in the path of the car when there was not. My daughter & I were almost rear ended. It has happened on numerous occasions. Has not been taken in for service for this issue. There was no warning prior to each occurance

Traveling on open road, Collision Mitigation Braking System errantly engaged putting vehicle in a hard, emergency stop condition. Nothing in front of us but empty road. Both driver and passenger were thrown forward. Driver sustained neck whiplash injury. The problem will be reported to dealer on Monday. This is a very know issue with this vehicle. The internet is full of complaints and you have already received hundreds of complaints. Add mine to the list. Please address this.

Emergency braking system activated twice in a period of about 5 minutes without any objects/ cars in pathway. Speed approx 40 mph in bright daylight it has never done that before and I deactivated it until I can have mechanic check it out.

After the light turned green I entered the intersection, going approx 20mph, when suddenly the car braked on its own without a car/object in front of my vehicle. I could hear the beeping from the collision mitigation system at the same time. Since I did not know the car was about to stop, I was unable to prevent my dog from falling forward and striking the dashboard. Although myself, my dog and the people behind me were at risk, no injuries were sustained. The person behind me was able to stop luckily. I will be scheduling yet another diagnostic with Honda, though I just did that a few months ago when all the warning lights came on. After the injectors were replaced at that time, they were able to turn off the warning lights. I do not believe they will be able to recreate the problem.

Every signal sensor in my car went off after 100k miles. Brake hold system, power steering, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure, electric parking brake, tpm, emission system problem, all wheel drive system. Car stopped working and came to a complete stop on highway with my child in it which was not only terrifying but put us obviously in a life threatening situation. Brought it to Honda dealership-they cleared codes and said they could figure out what was wrong because their software was down. Made an appointment with Honda in a different city to check my rear brake actuator sensor as I had had my brakes replaced prior to these codes showing up. Had to have the car towed to the dealership as it would not drive at this point. The dealership put a VT sylenoid in and said it was good to go. I asked about the brakes, they said they showed no issue. 30 days later while on the highway AGAIN with my child, all the same sensors came on and the car notified me to pull over to safety. I brought my car back to the dealership, they said they changed the left wheel sensor and all codes were cleared and the car was ready to be picked up. I go to the dealership and turn on my car, two seconds not even off the lot and ALL the SAME sensors are back on. Now Honda is telling me that I need a brand new computer installed for $1400.00 to fix the issue, after I already spent $1500 at this point. Obviously I have called American Honda, but this has been an absolute nightmare.

All of the alerts for the ADAS system would all come on alerting everything had failed. This had three times now over a course of a year. Once driving two while starting or parked. After two reboots of the system and a little drive the alerts go away. Also the stereo display had gone black because it lost connection. A reboot fixes that too. That’s been happening longer. Asked the dealer to check for firmware updates. They said there are five for her car after they checked it. We had it on for an oil change. They told us first it would cost 100, then they changed to almost 500 because it was 5 updates. This could be a real safety concern since you will never know if something has failed or not. If it’s their software engineers making the mistakes with coding, why do we have to pay for them updating it so it’s correct. I have no problem doing this myself, most car companies allow this, Honda will not with our 2017 even though there is a setting to do it. I just have no way of getting the files. Please help.

Earlier this week and again today, my wife and I were using our 2017 Honda CR-V EX when the car behaved very anomalously. In both of these instances, the car started normally and moved out onto the street, but then the engine abruptly bogged down and multiple messages of the form "xxx System Has A Problem" would cycle on the driver's display. At this time, the car would barely move forward or reverse, and shifting into reverse ("R") was accompanied by a noticeable jerk and a thump. The shifter display on the driver's display also appeared to be showing all of the possible shift settings at once. One or two cycles of rebooting the system on the infotainment/backup camera display appeared to clear the engine operation problem, but the error messages persisted for several miles and several restarts before they abruptly disappeared. Note that the streets here in Florida are very flat, and the weather this week has been mostly hot and humid with little rain. We have about 40,000 miles on the odometer, and the car has been serviced regularly by the local Honda dealer. When this anomalous behavior is not taking place, the car seems to move and accelerate normally. Several other complaints appear to describe the same problem, and some owners report that they have been told that they need new fuel injectors. We have not yet taken our car to the dealer or other mechanic, and the problem has not yet been reproduced by the dealer or anyone other than us. This appears to be a safety issue because a sudden loss of engine power in traffic could be very dangerous. During the malfunction with reduced engine power, I recorded a video of the driver's display which I can provide upon request.

All lights in dash came on randomly one day. Would go on and off periodically eventually they stayed on. Vehicle began going into limp mode changed all spark plugs, fuel pump and injectors continued difficulty with control center every light remains on speedometer is in correct all safety features are inactive. Car is completely unsafe to drive will go into limp mode out of nowhere have tried everything to resolve issues nothing has helped. Entire system should be recalled

On 6 separate occasions (2 in 2018, 4 in July 2024) my automatic braking system has kicked in when there is no apparent obstruction, vehicle, etc. in front of me. I have not taken the car to the dealer or filed any inspection as no accident occurred and I saw an article online about this happening to the same model and year car and thought I should add my examples to the list.

My 2017 Honda CRV has been diagnosed as needing replacement of its fuel injectors. When this problem is detected by its onboard computer system, all warning lights illuminate on dashboard display (even though they are unrelated), and all the ADAS safety features are disabled until the system can be reset - these include blind spot detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc. Because the car was otherwise driving fine, I explored other possible reasons for what seemed to be an issue with the electronics, such as a faulty battery. Eventually, it became apparent there was a fuel injection problem when the car went into what others have referred to as 'limp mode,' which means that it struggles to accelerate to even 5-10 mph at best. Thankfully, the two times this happened before I was able to take it to the dealership were both on residential streets without traffic. If this had occurred on an interstate or while turning left, the results could have been tragic. After some basic internet searches, it became readily apparent that hundreds of others across the country are dealing with the same identical issues I've described. Some individuals are encountering this issue when the car is only at 50-60k miles, which indicates it is not a matter of typical wear and tear. Yet, for some reason, Honda is not acknowledging this problem. This is especially disappointing and confusing seeing that Honda has either recalled or extended warranties on fuel injectors for multiple other models built during the mid-to-late 2010s (Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Fit). I would greatly appreciate the NHTSA's assistance in ensuring that people like me do not have to pay for a very costly repair that is clearly due to a systemically faulty part, but more importantly hope that no one is involved in an accident when their safety features are disabled and/or the car goes into 'limp mode' while in an vulnerable highway or intersection situation.

About 5 PM yesterday, August 2, 2024, the emergency braking system activated and brought my CR-V to a complete and sudden stop. The braking warning lite for a brief moment prior to the braking. There was no time for me to brake myself nor did I apply the brake petal. There were no vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians on the road in front of me. Following the stop, the brakes released and we were able to continue forward normally. My and my wife's safety was put at risk first, if we had had another vehicle to our rear, and to the risk of neck sprain due to the sudden stop. I have not notified my Honda dealer as of today, Aug 3, 2024.. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone as of today Aug 3, 2024.

On July 19, 2024, I was driving around 30-35 miles an hour. There were no cars close to me either in front or the back or side. On July 19, 2024, I was driving around 30-35 miles an hour. There were no cars close to me either in front or the back or side. On June 30, 2024 and again July 13, 2024, the BRAKE dash light and sound alarm engaged on clear sunny days (~ 11 am (6/30) and 1pm (7/13). The brake did not engage and so I was able to maintain control of the car, but in both cases I was on a major highway at 50-60 mph. I have previously reported an incident about a year ago (NHSTA issue number: 11530134 reported 7/3/2023). Weather conditions were the same (sunny and dry) and about the same time of the day (midday), however I was on a regular city road traveling about 25-30 mph and the BRAKES light, sound and the physical brakes brought the car to such a hard stop that I moved forward fast enough to engage the seatbelt restraint mechanism.

All of my warning lights are on. The above checklist only lets me pick 3 items total but every warning light is on. Brake hold system, power steering, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure, electric parking brake, tpm, emission system problem, all wheel drive system. My car has went from driving 70mph on the highway to suddenly going to 10-20 mph! Super dangerous and this has happened 2 times. First time in March 24’ and again May 24’. The reset resolved it briefly but it returned again and again. Now all lights are on and it scares me to drive on the interstate because I don’t know when it will happen again. My safety features do not work on my car when the lights are on. I have had the codes checked and reset 2 times. Codes P0172 & P0303 were a couple codes it shows.

The car behind me was able to stop but was very angry. Thankfully he was not tailgating or we would have had an accident The car has done this before but not as severely and didn’t brake as hard, more of a slow down.

All warning lights have been illuminated for several months. On occassion will turn off, but only for 1-2 days then back on again for another few weeks. After on-line research learned this is a very common problem for this make/model/year that Honda is not acknowledging as an issue. Honda dealer service technician diagnosed what I already knew that car needs new fuel injectors. Most safety features and cruise control do not function as a result. Parts are on backorder.

Have dealt with oil dilution the life of this vehicle, around 63K miles all lights lit up in the dash disabling ALL safety features. For a while this issue would come and go and the lights would clear,CEL included. Brought into Honda for a diagnosis and they state that the vehicle needs new fuel injectors. Due to the CEL from the fuel Injectors it disables ALL safety features therefore putting the driver and others on the road at risk.

Again this happened, driving at 38 mph the braking system activated without warning and slammed us into the seat belts. This is happening way to often and now my wife refuses to drive the car.

While driving at about 35 miles per hour, with no traffic or obstructions ahead of me, the automatic braking system rapidly decreased my vehicle speed to about 5 miles per hour, then disengaged and the vehicle operated normally.

I was driving my Honda CRV on a 4 lane highway (2 lanes in each direction) on a clear and sunny day ([XXX]) at approximately 45-50 mph. I had no traffic ahead of me, but cars behind me, when my vehicle slammed on its brakes and dropped my speed to approximately 5 mph. I did hear the beep and saw the "brake" warning statement on my dash display. It released the brakes after the decrease in speed (to approximately 5 mph) and I continued to drive home without any further problems. I'm very fortunate that I didn't get rear ended. I phoned my Honda service adviser and made her aware of the problem (West Herr Honda of Lockport, NY). My vehicle is in excellent condition and has never been in any accidents. While driving in a 4 lane road up a slight grade my CRV abruptly stopped using automatic emergency braking in front of a metal plate laying in the road the was covering up some construction. I started driving again and the car again stopped abruptly several feet later at another metal plate.

3 times this has happened now the latest incident today 4-19-2024. I’m driving along and then all of a sudden the car goes into hard braking mode and the emergency braking light comes on the dashboard. Twice I have almost been rear ended because of this problem. No cars are in front of me at the time. I feel the automatic braking system was not designed correctly. I hope no one gets into an accident because of this defect. This is the last Honda I will ever own.

My 2017 Honda CR-V decided to brake all by itself while driving on the highway going 65 mph. This incident first happened to me in May 2023 on a clear sunny day with my 1 month old baby and fiancé in the car. My fiancé thought I slammed on the brakes but in fact I did not, I was on the highway going 65mph. I was so scared because I didn’t even know my car was capable of braking on its own until that day. Everything in the vehicle flew to the front of the car, luckily no one was behind me or in front of me at that time and we were all okay but we were shaken up. The second time it happened, I was with my fiancé again on a backroad about a month later with no one in front of me or behind me, again on a clear day and my car slammed on the brakes by its own. From that second time on I always turn off my collision mitigation system hoping it makes a difference and does not do it again. I love my car but it is a complete hazard if it brakes on its own with no warning prior to it happening. I did call Honda to see if this was an issue or if there was a recall but the lady told me there is no recall at this time and this was the second time she has heard of this. I do not know what will cause the car to brake on its own, I can’t replicate it on demand, it is very random. I made sure my sensors were not obstructed and were clear. Hopefully Honda will do something about this issue, this is completely unacceptable.

There have been a few instances in which the emergency breaking system activated based on false positives. Examples include certain overhead highway signs (one in particular is a regular trigger in a certain lane of a certain road in my area) as well as dips in the road or construction areas or the bottom of hills, in which the sensor presumably reads the upcoming hill as an actual instruction. In one of these instances a car behind me locked up the brakes to avoid hitting me as my car applied the brakes unnecessarily. These issues have occurred repeatedly and are often able to be reproduced.

All driver assistance functions (Adaptive Cruise, Automatic Emergency Braking, Collision Warning, Lane Departure, Lane Keep Assist, and probably the Blind Spot Warning too) failed simultaneously, as indicated by warning lights and messages on the instrument panel. (Also failing were the Brake Hold function, and the parking brake, and the brake failure light was also illuminated, though the brakes did appear to function.) (The Check Engine Light also illuminated, though the engine continued to operate.) The root cause of the failure (as determined by the dealer) was failed fuel injectors causing the engine to run too rich. Yes, it is odd that failed fuel injectors cause a complete and total failure of the driver assistance features, but apparently this is not an uncommon failure mode for this particular problem on this model of engine.

Since I have purchased this vehicle in 2017, there have been numerous 'random' occasions while I am driving and the car's dashboard will flash "BRAKE"3X or "BRAKE" 3X with the warning beeps...these occasions have occurred while driving at speed over 50mph but there was no vehicle or object in front of me. Twice, I have been driving and the car has flashed "BRAKE"3x and beeped and applied the emergency brakes---but there was nothing in front of my car & thank goodness there was no one behind either. I don't know why it does it at random times, maybe it's the way the sun beams on the car, just at the right angle, to alert the brake system. Either way, it's caused me to use extra caution and turn off the Automatic Break System every time I enter the car ( If I remember) I am available for inspection upon request. I've read articles online about this problem with the Honda CRV 2017.

Multiple times my vehicle has flashed "BRAKE" when there was no object in front of me. At times there were shadows from trees that I thought may have prompted the warning. But in the past 6 weeks during interstate driving and adaptive cruise control engaged, the vehicle brakes for no reason. This can happen several times in just a short distance, or sometimes I can drive 25 miles and it doesn't happen at all. There is no rhyme or reason to the frequency. Most of the time it drops the speed about 5 MPH but keeps the cruise engaged at that new speed. I have never let it drop more than 15 MPH for fear of causing an issue with other drivers. This past week it applied the brakes just as a semi truck moved into my lane behind me at a close distance. I was afraid the truck would rear-end me. I have received the following warnings in the instrument panel: "Road departure mitigation system problem", "Collision mitigation system problem", and "Adaptive cruise control problem. My husband took pictures of the warnings as they appeared while I was driving. Honda diagnostics could not identify even one code.

The automatic emergency braking system activated unnecessarily. While pulling up to a light, I was preparing to apply the brakes when my car suddenly came to an immediate stop. The brake light flashed and the car came to a halt. It stopped so abruptly that I was concerned that I had been rear-ended. My passenger in the back seat got out of the car to check with the car behind me. No contact had been made with the car behind me. This event has not occurred previously or since as I have turned off the emergency braking system.

While driving today, 03/05/2024 my 2017 Honda CR-B suddenly began to break while driving. There were no obstacles in front of the vehicle and no nearby cars. My car continued to randomly break while I was driving continuously and the issue has continued throughout the day. My safety and the safety of others is at risk because the random braking can cause an accident. There were no warning or messages prior to this. The vehicle can be inspected at any time. This issue has not been confirmed with a dealer, but I am reporting it as it has happened and it is concerning.

While driving at highway speeds the electrically controlled parking brake engaged resulting in a hazardous situation requiring my son to pull over off the road. The entire electrical system was acting strangely with hazard lights coming on randomly, alarm system going off randomly, and keys fobs not working. Honda dealership determined the issue to be a bad Body Control Module (BCM).

This morning my Honda CRV unexpectedly braked while in motion driving 40mph. I didn't have my foot on the brake pedal & there wasn't any cars, objects or pedestrians in front of me. And, luckily there wasn't anyone behind me because there would have definitely been a rear end accident. The BRAKE sign came on during this action. I have a call into the local Honda dealer service dept., but I haven't heard back from them. My vehicle has not been inspected by anyone as I was on my way to work. This is the only time it has happened. I am extremely concerned with the safety for myself & others.

The car has a warranty that was extended because of camshaft issues. The warranty expired 2023 I bought the car in 2023. The issue started happening in 2024. The car will just stop and not go no matter how much you press the gas. So driving anywhere at any speed the car will just all of a sudden stop. it’s extremely dangerous and obviously it’s a problem that Honda has already recognized

I was driving and my car just randomly slammed on the breaks going through an intersection. There were no cars ahead of me for my car to use the brake censor and there were no cars behind me so I was lucky and did not get rear ended. This happened for a split second then my car was normal again. It stopped so quick and the car made a noise at the same time. I was concerned on why it did that so I went down and turned around and drove that path again. It did not do it again the 2nd time and there was nothing in the road that should of made my car brake on it's own. Lucky I was not going so fast and not on the highway. I have reported it to Honda and there are no recalls on my VIN at this time per Honda.

The car just braked and stopped for no reason. Nothing in front of me. I could've been rear ended. Took it to the dealer the following day and they could not replicate the incident. They found nothing wrong with the brakes. Brake warning light came on when the car came to an unexpected and sudden stop.

What I experienced was a multiple system failure. It began with a dead battery two years ago. When the engine was restarted the TPMS light came on along with the indicator light to get your car checked. The lights only came on intermittently at first and it didn't seem to affect the function of the car. I had assumed that when I replaced the battery, I had loosened a fuse. As time passed, the number of lights on the dashboard increased along with the duration of time they stayed lit up. Now, within the past 3 months, all the system indicator lights are on constantly, with the accompanying beeps, dings and sounds for each light. Yesterday, on the highway, my dashboard began to dim and the vehicle began to stutter. The dashboard indicator read Critical Failure Detected. Stop Driving When Safe. At the time I was on the highway in the right lane going 51 mph. This is unsafe. I have children and grandchildren and I do not feel safe transporting any of them. The reported problems are: Brake System, Tire Pressure Monitor, Electric Parking Brake, Road departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist, Anti-Lock Brake, Power Steering System

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving on the highway at approximately 65 MPH, the "Brake" warning light illuminated, and the vehicle independently slowed to 30 MPH. When I was driving on highway when moving from Texas to Indiana, about 11 warning lights were suddenly on. After sending my car to a local vehicle and mechanic autocenter, the vehicle has been detected code P0172 and P0304 issues which trigger check engine light one along with another 10 warning lights, including turning off cruise control and off-road detection systems. Both my local Honda dealer and mechanic auto center diagnose it as fuel injector faulty and warned me not driving it on highway for potential risk.

Twice in the last five weeks upon accelerating from a stop my car hard braked all by itself with sufficient force to push the driver and passenger very hard toward the front dashboard. One of the times I thought the air bags might have gone off. If someone had been behind I probably would have been rear-ended. In neither of the cases I received any fault or warning lights or indicators nor did I touch the brake pedal.

On October 6, I was driving my 2017 Honda CR-V and it automatically slammed on the brakes in the middle of the road. There were no cars in front of me, no pedestrian, nothing. It was a very strong jolt and I was lucky no car crashed into me due to the sudden stop. This had not happened previously. I took the car to a nearby dealership on October 11. The problem could not be replicated by the dealership. At first, the dealership wanted to blame it on a dirty sensor and close the job. Because I had looked at the NHTSA site, I was persistent that they look at the software. They did say they found a bulletin for updates and that the radar system needed one, so they completed it. I am concerned that most car owners may not even know this is a possible issue until it happens to them and that dealerships may not be aware of this issue and write it off to something else because it can't be replicated immediately.

Four different times when driving through an underpass. My car instantly slammed on the brakes. Almost causing an accident the last time. I took it to the Honda dealership after 2nd incident and they could not find the problem. Happened twice since then.

I experienced “phantom braking” while driving across an intersection. The vehicle “brake” warning appeared on the display screen without any obstruction on the road. It then very abruptly screeched to a halt automatically. This incident put my infant, myself, and other drivers at risk. The speed limit on that street is 35 mph. Sudden braking to that degree can cause a collision.

Since 2018 have had sporadic electrical issues, brightness light comes on and then radio goes haywire changing channels on it’s own etc. Warning lights sporadically come on. Rear alert sensor stopped working for a while. Automatic braking has engaged several times without warning and no cars or objects in front of me while driving (very dangerous). When getting oil changes at dealer I mentioned the problem (1st time was radio only and they claimed to do a software update). Next time when I mentioned and showed a video they told me they know there’s a problem but don’t know how to fix it. Yesterday all my saved routes on my GPS including “home” were gone. The problems are becoming more frequent. Several times this week and from what I’ve read many people having the same problem and Honda not recalling the vehicle. Some people told it’s a defective BCM that’s back ordered and others say their cars are stalling, alarms going off , not being able to shut off the car and locks and FOB not working. Of course my car is out of warranty. These are serious issues and I’m afraid that my car is unsafe to drive. Others have claimed that dealers said there are also fuel injector problems. Apparently 2018 and other later models have been recalled but not the 2017. Many others being charged thousands of dollar to fix problem and then the problem comes back again. Someone needs to make Honda correct these serious safety issues.

All advanced emergency systems kept flashing randomly Without any notice the brakes would lock up. It indicated that the emergency brake had engaged. I could not go forwand I could not I couldn't go in reverse. I was unable to disengage the brake. I went on YouTube And attempted to disengage then randomly I was able to do this period. After having happened intermittently I brought it to the dealer period they scoped it and found no problem. It was a random occurrence there was no rhyme or reason why this was happening . After a while At the dealers it occurred and the dealer said it was the electronic breaking system . This was an extreme safety issue because I did not know when the car was going to stop. It didn't matter if I was going fast or slow it just happened. My 16 year old son was driving the vehicle when all of the lights on the dashboard started flashing and alarms started sounding. As a new driver he found this really alarming and didn't know what to do. He was driving along at 40 mph along a local main road and very nearly collided with a vehicle in front of him at a set of traffic lights because he lost attention on the road. He pulled to the side of the road and was then a hazard to other road users and in a dangerous spot himself until he called me and I went out to him in a different car. We drove home carefully as the car seemed to be running fine but he was understandably shaken up. This has occurred multiple times in the last couple of weeks. The car bleeps several times and goes through all of the things that are not working correctly. Emission System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem), Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem are all shown as faulty. The dealership have now told me that it is a fuel injector problem and they will need to be replaced. Looks like the car is showing an OBD-II code of running too rich and cylinder misfire. I have codes P0172 and P0303 and one other I think. My car has only done 45,000 miles. From reading more about this it seems that the fuel injectors in my generation of Honda CR-V (mine is a 2017) have widespread issues with these components.The fault causes the warning lights to light up like a Christmas tree which can be extremely distracting. All of the safety features also no longer work which is dangerous for the driver continuing to drive in that state. Inexperienced drivers like my son (and anyone else for that matter) can be left in very hazardous situations.

We drove home carefully as the car seemed to be running fine but he was understandably shaken up. This has occurred multiple times in the last couple of weeks. The car bleeps several times and goes through all of the things that are not working correctly. Emission System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem), Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem are all shown as faulty. The dealership have now told me that it is a fuel injector problem and they will need to be replaced. Looks like the car is showing an OBD-II code of running too rich and cylinder misfire. I have codes P0172 and P0303 and one other I think. My car has only done 45,000 miles. From reading more about this it seems that the fuel injectors in my generation of Honda CR-V (mine is a 2017) have widespread issues with these components.The fault causes the warning lights to light up like a Christmas tree which can be extremely distracting. All of the safety features also no longer work which is dangerous for the driver continuing to drive in that state. Inexperienced drivers like my son (and anyone else for that matter) can be left in very hazardous situations.

I alone in the car driving on a residential street, about 20 miles per hour. There were no cars in front of me when my brakes slammed on suddenly! I was jerked forward and items that were on my passenger seat flew to the the floor. Thankfully there was nobody behind me either, so there was no accident. It was a clear sunny day with no obstructions. There were no messages or warnings that I saw. This happened about 5 days ago. This has never happened before ( I’ve had this vehicle since 2017) and so far it hasn’t happened again. As far as I can tell there are no recalls for this issue, but I did see in my Google research that there have been other reports by Honda owners of this issue. I have not yet contacted Honda.

On 8/25/23 around 6:45am, I was exiting the gas station parking lot going around 15mph, and the car slammed on the brakes. The abs engaged itself even though there was nothing in front or around me. I knew I didn't step on the wrong pedal, because the abs indicator that says "brake" came on and this only comes on when the abs senses something in front of the car. All the stuff on my seat flew on to the floor. This happened once before a few years ago. A few times in the last few years, the car has been glitchy and "brightness" starts blinking uncontrollably on the screen. Sometimes if I shut off the car for a few minutes it will resolve but sometimes not. We purchased the car new and have been the only drivers.

I bought this car on April 30,2022 for $30,000. It had18,0000 (plus) miles. Within 6 months the idiot lights would come on and all safety controls were cancelled. When this first happened, I was frightened that I would be involved in an accident or the car would just shut down. I called a Dealer close by and was told by their service manager to take it to an Auto store, have them put it on their computer to tell me what was wrong. I did that. Was told I needed an oil change. Had the oil change and things were ok for about 4 days when all lights came back on again scaring the h__l out of me. Had a private mechanic check it out and was told it needed an oxygen sensor. Then the car wouldn't start. Turned out the battery was low, so I replaced the battery. Warning lights did not go on for a couple of days. I then went to the local Honda dealer who told me to bring the car in and for $190 they would use their computers to tell me what was wrong. Can you imagine what Chutzpa that takes? They, knowing what the problem was yet charging me to tell me. I am now out of State. Took vehicle into closest dealership for oil change, tire rotation. Told service of dashboard lights, what I had done so far, and asked them to figure out problem. They said I needed $1500 fuel injectors which would have been covered by the warranty but that ran out on length of time. The car only had 30,000 miles but was 6 years old. Suggested I ask Honda for an extension of the warranty to cover costs. The lights are still continuously on now. All safety features are essentially off. I am afraid to drive it in fear of having an accident. I have contacted America Honda for an extension of the warranty and will attach that timeline and phone calls to/from them. The reason for doing this is that I do not believe installing new fuel injectors will fix this problem. I think it is in the computer system itself. And I am in danger of having a crash.09

Fuel injector System issue which disables KEY safety features of our CR-V's when it occurs. An injector issue should NOT cause safety features of the CR-V to stop working (ex. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPS, Hill Start Assist, Braking, etc...) In addition to the disabling key safety features, this CR-V's have reportedly gone into limp mode while at highway speeds. If this occurs to you while you have a 18 wheeler on your rear, you could potentially be in a serious injury/life event.

The radar sensor was stolen in July 2023. A Honda dealer confirmed this. Two representatives of the dealer indicated the sensor can be stolen in minutes without tools from the 2017 CRV and Honda placed the sensor elsewhere in later model CRVs to reduce its vulnerability to theft. Warning lights indicate 5 Honda-installed safety features no longer work without the sensor: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, a collision mitigation system, a road departure mitigation system, and automatic high beams. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When the sensor is stolen, it is sometimes yanked out quickly (my case), damaging other radar parts. The dealer mentioned above told me replacement of the sensor and repair of the radar would cost about $2700. There are unfortunately strong disincentives to repair the radar, with the result that 5 safety features no longer work: The high repair cost, coupled with the distinct likelihood of another theft given shortages of the sensor and its value, discourage repair. Further, the fact that theft claims with insurers often result in rate increases and many folks have high deductibles discourage repair. American Honda Motor Company, Inc. has refused to provide financial assistance despite its poor engineering having essentially caused the 2017 model theft problem, and despite Honda’s correction of this defect in later year CRVs. Honda also has failed to create a “kit” for 2017 CRV owners to secure the radar sensor against theft. :

While sitting in the longest traffic jam I ever experienced on a hot summer day and not moving, suddenly all lights and driver assistant lights came on the dashboard and the parking brake engaged. I was able to release the parking brake and drive with all the lights lit on the dashboard. My vehicle had only 88K miles. A Honda dealership ran a diagnostics and reported a code po172 engine fuel trim lean so car will need injectors and fuel pipe to fix. I just paid for the diagnostics and not the repair since they were able to reset the computer to clear the problem.

A few days later it happened again. When I called dealer they said bring it in. At that time they charged to scope it. They said no codes came on . A few days later my battery was leaking battery acid. I jumped the battery and brought it to Sam's Club and they replaced the battery . The car drove fine for a few days.. Then as I was driving home one evening and all the warning lights started blinking again . I took a video as I was driving in order to show dealer.. I brought the car to the deal the next day . They kept it for several days .then replaced the electronic braking system They charged $2100 plus I had a rental for 3 days . The dealer said there might be a fuel injector problem also, so if the lights start flashing bring it in . It would cost another $1800. I got the car back and drove it for about a week when all the lights started flashing . I brought it to another dealer that is 40 miles away . I told the "2nd dealer my story . They looked up my ViN. They told me the electronic brake system was covered under an extended warranty that I purchased when I bought the car . AS I was driving the blinking lights stopped . The dealer said they couldn't scope it unless lights were flashing When lights flashed I drove the car in they said it was the fuel injectors. The code was P0172. I have been without my car since June. ( it is the end of July) The fuel injectors have been disconinued.The dealership doesn't know when the parts will come in . Issue #1: Automatic Braking Self-Engaged. Approximate Date: 11/21/2022 Mileage: 70k I was driving home. I was traveling southbound approximately 40 mph on a 4 lane road (2 each direction). The weather was clear (i.e., no rain or other adverse conditions). No other cars (northbound or southbound), pedestrians, or objects were on or near the roadway and my car, without warning, applied the brakes, hard. The automatic braking system had engaged by itself, without warning. Imagine driving down the road and for no reason, without warning, the car abruptly attempts to stop itself. There's little to be done and it's quite precarious, especially if the road I was on had heavier traffic. Thankfully, no one was behind me or I would have been in an accident. It was pretty scary -- my passenger looked at me and wondered why on earth I'd applied the brakes so hard but I hadn't personally touched them--there was no reason to stop or slow down in the middle of the street that day. When the automatic braking engaged, there was no warning and the vehicle was running fine. Issue #2: Faulty Electrical System + Sensor Failure. Date: 7/17/2023 Mileage: 85k All possible electrical warnings came up on my dash while idling in a grocery store parking spot at the prompting me to research complaints (I didn't know NHTSA handled complaints; hence, I'm filing two simultaneously in this report today). I observe a regular, routine maintenance schedule at the local dealership, and while I expect some maintenance, particularly as the vehicle gets older, I should not be having these types of issues. I was able to clear the dash warnings myself after manually rebooting the system 4 times, but I'm sure that only alleviates the symptoms not any root cause. Based on the plethora of articles on the internet about this, it seems that the 2017 Honda CR-V has some faulty sensors and electrical issues which are a threat to personal and public safety and need additional investigation.

I just purchased a 2017 Honda CRV the end of May, and while driving in the streets doing Lift, my car SUDDENLY came to a dead stop for no reason! Fortunately, I was NOT on the freeway and there were no cars behind me while driving on a main street going about 40mph. I called the Honda dealership and they could not figure what happened. They only suggested to deactivate the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) every time I get in the car. This was very scary and I find it unsafe and tedious to do this every time! I'm hesitant to drive my car but it's my only transportation! UNSAFE CAR!!!!

Today July 5 while driving on local streets at approximately 35 MPH my brakes activated. As quickly as they activated they released. It all occurred in a matter of seconds. The instrument panel brake warning light flashed "BRAKE". I was not alone in the vehicle when this happened and my passenger was as surprised as I. There were no other vehicles in the area. My car has approximately 51,000 miles. it is the first time this has happened. I have not reported this to my selling dealership but will contact them regarding this event.

The 2017 CRV stopped with no apparent reason whatsoever. We were driving about 45 miles an hour with my family in the car and for no apparent reason the car engaged is braking system. This was distracting to me as the driver, but fortunately there was nothing that required my attention at the time. Over the ensuing weeks this happened several more times, always on a highway at highway speed. At first I thought it might be reacting to a sharp shadow from an over pass, but it happened on overcast days as well as sunny days. It did not happen at night. The frequency of these visual alerts gradually increased until October 8, 2022, when the visual warning flashed and the brakes were applied by the automatic braking system. Again, there were no cars ahead of mine. If a car had been tailgating me, it would probably have caused an accident. I took it to the dealer the next day, and after interrogating the computer, they determined that no fault was recorded. Privately, I was told that this was a known issue, but it could take up to a year for the software patch to be released, and in the meantime there was no recourse. I sold the car back to the dealer that day, purchasing another car that they had on the lot, because I felt that the vehicle was unsafe and I was unwilling to drive it any longer.

The Body Control Module has failed. Since all of the safety features in/on the vehicle are monitored by this part is the vehicle actually safe to drive? That is the question I have posed to 3 dealers. None have been willing to say that it is absolutely safe. The part is on national backorder with no availability date provided. Can you tell me that the vehicle is safe to drive?

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. We were driving about 35 mph when the car suddenly beeped a warning “brakes” while simultaneously SLAMMING on the brakes. There was a metal construction plate on the roadway at the place where the incident occurred. My left wrist was injured as it was bent back by the steering wheel, my wife wasn’t watching the road and is complaining of neck pain/strain. We feel very lucky there was no one behind us at the time.

What if I was in front of a tractor trailer or dump truck and then system engaged again for no reason?

Vehicle is going in to 'limp" mode at highway speeds without warning. All safety features including ACC, LKAS, Emergency Braking, Collision avoidance, brake hold do not work when this happens. Vehicle must be pulled over to the side of the road, shut off and then restarted to allow car to operate at normal speed until the issue occurs again ( usually 20-30 minutes later). Brought car to Honda and they confirmed fuel injector issue. Part is discontinued and new parts not available. No recall, but incidences where all warning lights come on the dash are all over user groups on the internet. Problem ALWAYS comes back to fuel injectors. The main issue is that it goes in to limp mode with no acceleration available without warning. This creates a HUGE safety issue in rush hour traffic. Honda does not acknowledge the problem with the injector and can offer no information as to when replacement injectors would be available.

The emergency braking was turned off by me a few years ago due to this happening before. Today while I was driving about 35 mph, my car did a hard brake pushing everything including myself to the front giving me whiplash. Good thing nobody was behind me or else they would’ve ran into me for sure. There was nothing even in front of me to even cause this to even happen. Since 2019, my indicator lights come on all at once, and despite it going to the dealership multiple times, it has yet to fixed, and they continue to charge me for diagnostics. Research shows that many Honda owners experience the same thing. Now I'm being told it's my fuel injectors, which is baffling. They will not address this systemic mechanical defect.

Hello team, There is an ongoing issue with HONDA CRV's where all dashboard warning lamps turn on themselves and keep beeping and flashing, affecting all electronic features on the car. So many people are complaining about this issue, check google or You tube but Honda is not recalling these cars and if you are past your manufacturer warranty, the dealership charges a heck of money and when they fix the issue, that's a temporary solution as the issue comes back just a few days after. 28198 miles on the car. Very dangerous braking event. Going 20-25 mph on access road to the town hall and out of nowhere the CRV jammed on the brakes once with enough force to throw me against the steering wheel then a few seconds later a second hard braking episode. I parked the car and when I returned and started it back up...I "turned off" or supposedly "disengaged the system" figuring I could drive it home with no incident. A few miles down the road, going 40 mph the vehicle attempted to brake again just not quite as hard even with the ACC/lane departure/mitigation system turned off via the control on the steering wheel. Could lose control of vehicle if going fast enough. Getting hit from behind due to violent sudden stop. I intend to have car towed by Honda to the dealership when I am available to meet the tow truck after filing report with NHTSB and Honda. No warning lamps or issue of any kind which is to be expected with only 29K on the car. I did notice that morning the bars which show distance till system is supposed to sense items in front of the car were not being displayed. Normally they are displayed full time and didn't think anything of it till after the braking event. Very dangerous unexpected, no warning braking events.

On six occasions, two of which were within the last month, my car has breached automatically for no apparent reason. It has stopped quickly from high speeds, and I am concerned that I could be rear ended if the car stops without warning. This has occurred on the freeway, and on the regular streets, with and without shadows, present, with and without rain. It has only happened during the day.

11/21/22: I was driving on a city street at the posted speed limit ( speed limit 25mph) and I noticed there was some road construction ahead that included steel plates on the street. There was no car ahead of me, but there was traffic behind me. I slowed and then braked slightly so I wouldn't hit the plates at full speed. Right then my car literally "slammed on the brakes" and I came to a complete stop before crossing the plates. Everything on the passenger seat flew to the floor and the car engine died. I did see an orange warning but it happened so quickly I don't recall what it was but I'm guessing it was the BRAKE warning. Thank goodness the driver behind me was paying attention or this would have caused a rear end accident! I did not go to the Honda dealer at the time but I read about this same type of issue which I think was caused by the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). I also read that this system cannot be turned off. It's just a matter of time before a serious accident occurs as a result of this defect in the CMBS system!

I was driving about 25mph, nothing in front of me, when the automatic breaking suddenly beeped and engaged — slamming on the breaks. Luckily there was no one behind me or there could have been an accident. I've lost all trust in the system and am now terrified of it, but I cannot disable it permanently.

While driving at approximately 35 mph with my foot on the gas pedal, the brakes abruptly and forcefully engaged causing my vehicle to come to a complete and abrupt halt. Upon looking at the dash board, the word “brake” was present. There was no oncoming traffic, no intersection present , and a vehicle some distance behind me. Upon contacting Honda online, they shared that there was no open campaign regarding my issue and suggested that I contact the local service department.

On Monday, September 12, 2022, while driving approximately 40 mph on a city street, my 2017 Honda CR V suddenly, and on its own, began breaking violently. My vehicle went from 40 mph to 15 mph in a noticeably brief period. A very frightful experience. My wife, who was sitting in the right front passenger seat, and myself were jolted forward. Luckily, there were no vehicles behind me, nor were any vehicles in front of me during this time. I immediately pulled off the street. I shut off the ignition and sat for a few minutes before continuing to my home, approximately two miles away. There was no advanced warning from the vehicle's information system. I called the local Honda dealer and made an appointment to have the vehicle checked. I explained the problem to the Honda service personnel. I was informed that this was a problem known to Honda and I would be notified when a recall notice was issued. In the interim. I was told to disengage the collision mitigation system every time I start the vehicle.

Unknown. Intermittent multiple warning lights on dashboard flashing without incident resulting in all safety features being disabled. Occasional unnecessary extended automatic braking incidents putting occupants at risk of collision from rear vehicle.

Shift button knob broke on April 20- 2022 Location of the vehicle was out of the USA. Local Honda dealer was notified about the recall and ordered the parts, the replacement of the knob was done May May 10- 2022. I payed for the repair and Honda corporation denied a reimbursement.

Driving in my neighborhood there is construction work being done, where metal plates have been placed in the road. When driving over these metal plates, I begin to lightly apply brakes as to slow down driving over these metal plates. The Automatic Braking System alerts me to BRAKE in the Notification Center of my dashboard & automatically applies the brakes to a complete stop. This has happened twice now, in the same place of my neighborhood resulting in my seatbelt tightening & the car to jolt myself forward. Eventually this will result in an accident if there is a car traveling behind me the next time I go over these metal plates. This problem has been reported my numerous other drivers of 2016-2020 Honda Vehicles and is currently under investigation. After my research, it has become clear to me that when vehicles are taken to dealerships after these incidents they are returned without any indication of problems with the vehicles. I have a small child and often travel with my dog, unrestrained in my vehicle as most pet owners do and am concerned that if they are in the vehicle the next time this happens & there just so happens to be a car behind me, one or all of us would be hurt. Because Honda is taking its time to address this problem, and issue a recall the dealerships will do nothing about it until that point.

All 8 systems associated with collision avoidance, lane change warning, tire pressure, cruise control, braking system, and engine electrics are flashing warning lights about 80% of the time. The car runs but these systems are compromised (cruise won't work, emergency braking doesn't work, etc.) The dealer has told me different things each time he has diagnosed it, the latest being a need for new turbo units, but the number of people who have this problem and get different "solutions" from dealers only to have the problem return indicates a systemic problem.

My CRV turns on the emergency braking warning visible on my dash. There is no reason why it should be doing this. It is random. So far the car has not slammed on my brakes it's just giving me the warnings. I have never been in a situation that required emergency braking. I was driving on a residential road where repairs are being done to the road. There were two metal plates in the road covering the hole where workers have been doing ongoing work. As I approached the plates doing perhaps 25mph the warning system to brake sounded and automatic braking system engaged and brought us to a near stop before disengaging. No one was behind us but if someone was we certainly would have been rear-ended.

The vehicle beeped, the "brake" flashed on the instrument cluster and then the vehicle applied the brakes on its own. The episode lasted 1 to 2 seconds. Luckily no one was behind me. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected by the manufacturer or other party.

I've reporter to Honda dealer about seat and brake pedal squeaking when pressed several times when my vehicle was under warranty. They always said its normal wear and tear. Car only had 12,000 miles on it at the time. Fast forward to 30K miles, they finally greased the brake pedal and noise went away for another 10K but returned. I was then told its hydrolic brake so it's normal. But I know its not normal to have squeaking noise like that. Moreover, seat squeaking noise has gone worse now. I can literally not take the noise to the point I try not to move at all while driving. I was told this is normal behavior and if I want to replace it it'll cost me $$$$. This should've been covered under warranty and I have few other friends and coworkers with similar issues and they're also being told to deal with it. Adaptive cruise control is ok as long as you don't change the lane or someone in front of you doesn't change the lane. I was going 45mph one night when I had adaptive cruise control turned on. It was seeing the car in front of me and there was a red light coming up. Car in front of me decided to change lane and after that my car failed to recognize the car in front of me stopping for red light. I was at 25mph due to all cars slowing down but as soon as the car front of me changed lane, my car speed accelerated to 45mph and almost hit the car stopped at red light. I slammed the brake so hard to avoid the accident that night. My entire family was freaked out after that and stopped trusting adaptive cruise control.

Emergency braking engaged unexpectedly, electronic module failure ,all warning lights flashed on the information system , vehicle would not turn off, headlights flashing, windshield wipers engaged without input from driver. Transmission would not engage. This would be very dangerous if had occurred on highway , it occurred in a rural area with very little traffic.

All light indicators are turning on, making my dash look like a Christmas tree. Happens atleast 3 times a month

I was driving on I-94 in Chicago on 6-22-2022 at approximately 50mph. There was no one in front or beside me and the AEB system braked on its own and the "BRAKE" alert on the dash flashed momentarily. The car slowed down about 10-20 mph and I brought it back up to speed. This is the only time it has happened and it was terrifying.

Yesterday as I was driving my Honda CRV at about 55 mph on a rural road, it suddenly stopped. There was NOTHING around, no other cars, animals, NOTHING! It took my speed down to about 10 mph in seconds, threw my groceries on the floor HARD. I called two different Honda dealerships and the both told me they hadn't heard any reports of this happening, yet I did a search and found that it IS an issue! The one dealership wants me to bring my car in for inspection to the tune of $139. The problem is, I no longer feel safe driving this car! Fortunately I was on a rural road and not the highway! The automatic brake system comes on and brakes with nothing in front of the vehicle while the vehicle is moving at variable rates of speed. Sometimes 25 mph on a country road, sometimes 65 on an interstate. This is putting myself at risk and others for a rear end collision for sudden stops for no reason. I did take it to a dealer who did diagnostics and said there was nothing wrong because the last 5 times there was something in front of me per the computer. I can just confirm this has happened many times w nothing in front of me. They also charged me diagnostics for this and when I contacted Honda they just said my vehicle was not one of the ones affected and was not under warranty any longer or recall. The only light that happens is the brake assist light that states “.brake” and then suddenly beeps at you comes on and the car starts to brake.

There have been four separate incidents now when the automatic braking system has engaged without there being anything in front of me. When this happens, it skips over the chime and notice on the dashboard and goes straight to slamming on the brakes. On all occasions I was traveling under 40 mph and fortunately there was never anyone directly behind me. If there had been someone behind me, I likely would have been rear-ended. I have reported the problem informally the dealership (when I was there for other service), but it's difficult to replicate as this has only happened a handful of times in the last 4-5 years. I do not remember if the dealership specifically investigated the problem on my vehicle.

On three occasions - most recently on May 22, 2022 - the emergency braking system stopped the car completely for no apparent reason. If there had been cars behind me, all 3 times would have cause collisions. Dealer service department would not acknowledge the problem, even though I explained I had read about other complaints. Vehicle has not been inspected for this specific issue. No warnings prior to the random failures

While driving the emergency braking will automatically slam on the brakes when there is nothing there. It alerts of lane departure when still driving within the lane. Fails to alert of vehicle in blind spot. Issues are intermittent, but I fear they may cause me to wreck.

In a construction single lane road my car braked extremely hard. My speed was less than 10 mph. The zone had pylons, two flagmen who were stationary and a raised metal plate over a trench. It happened twice, once in each direction. I immediately called Lawley Honda and brought it in after work. Their only guess is that I accidentally turned on the cruise/driver assist button on the lower right side of my steering wheel. They also said it could have happened during my oil change 4 days ago. I have never in the years I’ve owned this car accidentally turned on this control. They did not take my vehicle into the service bay. They said if there is no error code indicator illuminated then they can’t troubleshoot the vehicle.

Driving around 18MPH, I was approaching a small bridge when the brake message appeared simultaneously to the automatic braking of the car. Luckily, I was going slowly, no one in front of or behind me. It was extremely abrupt and frightening. I cannot imagine what might have happened if I had been going faster.

I was driving down the road going about 45. All of the sudden the orange brake warning came up on my dash, the car beeped, and the brakes engaged themselves and I came to almost a complete stop. There was nothing in front of me. But there were cars behind me. I’m lucky I didn’t get hit from behind or cause and accident.

While driving on a two lane road with no cars ahead and approaching a narrowing bend in the road with an on-coming car in the opposite lane, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly gave a beeping warning and applied braking. After slowing the vehicle considerably, the emergency braking ceased and normal driver control resumed. Vehicle following was fortunately not following close enough to avoid rear end collision. This has occurred twice before while pulling into a garage and while passing a parking lot beside road where a car was backing close to roadway without entering roadway. On April 3 2022 at 7:00am I was driving north on Eastlake in Seattle, WA. I was going 25mph and there were no other cars in front or behind me as well as none on either side of me. I was driving my 2017 Honda CRV on Saturday, March 26th in the evening hours and suddenly the brake system light came on and the system slammed on the brakes without any cars in front of me or anywhere in the vicinity of my car. I did not initiate or touch the brake at all.

Dashboard lights come on while driving, emissions problems, lack of power and engine light flashing . When I start it 2 out 3 times can feel a light vibration and has vibrated while driving.

I was driving on an urban street this morning at approx 20-25 mph, with cars in front and behind be (at least 2 car-lengths away. I had stopped at an intersection and continued on when the light turned green, following a car in front of me at a safe 2-car length distance. My car suddenly had a warning sound, and the instrument panel was blinking. When I looked to read it (flashing "BRAKE") the car had already started its emergency brake. It was approx 6:15am, and dark outside. The only thing that can be seen the might have caused this was a 1 inch metal panel on the road along my path (indeed the car stopped inches in front of it). A similar incident happened about a year ago, with a similar circumstance of a metal plate on a roadway (not the same road as today). Under a similar speed (30-35mph). That said, I have driven over other metal panels almost daily without incident. This incident seems to be similar to other reports on the news in late Feb 2022, which NHTSA is investigating. The car and passengers are safe. It was checked during routine maintenance about one month ago at an authorized Honda Service Center.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed as a computer error related to the turbo. The contact stated that the computer was reset. The contact stated that the dealer test drove the vehicle 25 miles and the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that two days after the repair, while driving 65 MPH with the cruise control activated, the brake warning light illuminated as the brake automatically engaged, jerking the driver who almost lost control. The contact was able to drive home. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

About a year ago, my 2017 CRV braked for no reason. I was traveling about 30 mph and the brake warning light came on and the car braked suddenly. Fortunately, nobody was behind me. I took the car to my Honda dealer and they looked at the sensors but couldn't find anything. I do worry that this could happen again.

On two different occasions, the automatic braking system engaged in an unprovoked circumstance. There was no accident that occurred, however, if a car had been following closely behind--we would have been rear ended. It also does create a stress/adrenaline rush and whips your head/neck due to the sudden nature of overly aggressive braking. In both instances, I was driving approximate 30 mph. There were no cars or obstacles in front of us that would have required the car to stop. In either instance, there was nothing that should have triggered the braking system. The car is available for inspection. I have not had it inspected. The first time it happened just seemed random. Within days of the 2nd incident, I learned of the investigation into the system. There are no warnings that come up or system alerts that anything is off. It is just the equivalent of slamming on the brakes, but your foot is on the gas. And then it recovers and returns to driving normally.

In multiple incidents, the car's automatic emergency braking system engaged while driving on clear roads with no obstructions in front or to the sides of the vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been damaged and is available for inspection. There was no warning from the car before it engaged the brakes. The car slammed the breaks and I lost control of the vehicle and could not prevent it from applying the brakes. This has happened both on city streets and on divided highways. It seems to be most likely to occur in areas where there is a slight bump in the road or some uneven road surfaces that are perfectly safe to drive over if not perfectly flat. My safety and the safety of other drivers around me was put at immediate risk due to the sudden and completely unpredictable nature of this. I was nearly rear-ended in one incident. This has occurred at road speeds over 40-50 miles per hour, making any sudden necessary braking extremely dangerous. The problem has not been reproduced by a service center, but I have encountered it multiple times over the lifetime of the vehicle. Recent service appointments at a dealership showed no issues on inspection. There are absolutely no warning lamps or messages that appear before the braking occurs. Normally, the emergency braking system flashes a warning and audible signal before engaging brakes. However, this does not happen with these incidents and the braking engages immediately without prior warning along with the emergency braking visual and audio alerts. The issue first appeared about 1 year after purchase of the new vehicle from a dealership and has occurred once every year or two since.

Driving at 45mph, the emergency collision detection warning sounded and the brakes were applied. No cars or pedestrians were located in front of the vehicle. This occurred going thru an intersection at 1:30am and luckily there was no traffic present.

I was driving about 35 mph on a city street at 6:45 a.m. There was almost no other traffic — no cars ahead of or behind me. The weather was clear, temperature in the low 30s. I was approaching a red light and coasted toward the intersection, then lightly applied the brakes. The emergency braking system kicked in without warning, and I came to an immediate stop well short of the intersection. The vehicle has 22,400 miles on it. This has never happened before.

I was turning left onto another road at the same low speed as I have made this same turn at the same location many times before. The weather was dry and sunny. During the turn the brakes grabbed hold for no apparent reason. There were no other cars in front of me nor behind me. I have made this same turn subsequent to this event with no problem. The braking released on its own within 2-3 seconds. This car had about 70,000 miles on it when this occurred. If a car had been behind me, it is very likely I would have been rear ended.

Many times I will be driving in a highway with NO cars around, and the vehicle breaks and gives me a notification that is activated the emergency breaking system. It is very scary and can cause a serious accident and injury if not resolved.

Driving home one night in the dark and the weather was misty/foggy. Our vehicle went over one of those large metal plates that construction workers use when they're working on the road. All of a sudden the braking system activated on it's own and it brought us to a complete stop. It was scary because there was no traffic threat to us and I didn't apply the brakes. Luckily there was no vehicle behind me because they would have rear ended us for sure. After this incident I am always mindful to turn off the automatic braking whenever I start the vehicle

Two times in the last four years, Honda CRV braked for no apparent reason. Speed was around 35 mph. Heard NHSTA was studying this.

I was driving west on S Holgate, crossing the railroad tracks between 4th and 2nd, when the collision avoidance system began to sound even though nothing was in front of me. The car CAS then initiated an emergency stop on the tracks. Just then the train crossing started flashing red so a car following me decided to scoot through. He was not expecting me to stop so suddenly and rear-ended my car leaving both of us stopped on the tracks with a train coming! We were both able to restart the cars and moved off the tracks in time but it was quite scary and obviously dangerous. Thankfully the collision was at 20 mph so the damage did not disable either car or cause any injuries that would inhibit us from moving to safety.

On multiple occasions, driving on a 5 lane road (2 lanes south, middle turn lane, 2 lanes north) at 45 mph in the right lane headed south, the auto brake system displayed "BRAKE" and auto brakes were applied to slightly slow the CRV. I did not apply the brake. There was nothing in front of me - clear road, no cars in front or behind me (thankfully), no debris, no people. I have not had Honda look at this and reported here due to it making national news regarding the potential issue.

Last October I was driving home on a quiet 2 lane road with no apparent traffic at approximately 30th when out of nowhere the automatic safety BRAKE warning came on and my car stopped dead on the road. There were no other vehicles or animals visible in the area. I then traveled home without further incident.

I’m not sure why the emergency brakes activated with no warning and for no apparent reason. The emergency brakes have not been inspected by manufacturer.

On at least 2 different occasions, the brakes my 2017 Honda CRV suddenly engaged without me touching the brake pedal. Once was on I-75 when there was no traffic in front of me and no traffic on the sides. It just braked momentarily with the brake warning light on the dash appearing. It almost immediately returned to proper operation. Another time I was driving in city traffic while crossing an intersection and the brakes suddenly engaged. Again, it was a momentary situation and my foot was not on the brake pedal. I have also had repeated problems with my main display-sometimes the screen goes black and I am unable to turn radio off or change stations. Other times, the a/c or heater and defrost will not operate and then after driving for 15-30 mins it suddenly turns on and I have heat or ac and the screen returns to normal operation. The dealer has been unable to fix.

Brakes: April 2019 the brake warning light flashed on dash and the car started braking when there was nothing in front of me. Brakes: I stepped on the brake pedal and the radio volume changed. Adaptive Cruise: May 2019 While traveling with the cruise on, it stopped showing there was a vehicle in front of me, it did not slow my car down as I approached the vehicle in front of me.

After about an hour, and constant tries, for some reason - the brakes released and we were able to drive the vehicle again. We went straight to the dealership, to inspect. They had the car for a couple days, the mechanic also took the car home on his commute (~100 miles roundtrip), but was not able to recreate. There was no charge for the vehicle as it was still under warranty.

In one instance I was driving west on I-74 at the east most end of the Murray Baker Bridge when the car break was applied automatically, reducing my speed by about 20 miles per hour while there was traffic behind me. No injuries. At the time I assumed it was the angle of the car going up the hill onto the bridge, and that the car detected the bridge structure above. In the other incident, I was driving in Danville IL with no traffic anywhere near me, and the car beeped, alerted that the forward collision was imminent, and the breaks were applied hard. It possibly reduced my speed 10 MPH or so, but was hard enough for my body to move forward. No cars around, no obstacles around. I had no idea what the vehicle detected. It was not raining or snowing, or anything like that at the time of either incident.

No injuries. At the time I assumed it was the angle of the car going up the hill onto the bridge, and that the car detected the bridge structure above. In the other incident, I was driving in Danville IL with no traffic anywhere near me, and the car beeped, alerted that the forward collision was imminent, and the breaks were applied hard. It possibly reduced my speed 10 MPH or so, but was hard enough for my body to move forward. No cars around, no obstacles around. I had no idea what the vehicle detected. It was not raining or snowing, or anything like that at the time of either incident.

I have experienced automatic emergency braking of my vehicle at various times for no reason ~ I was not approaching another car or in congested traffic. Fortunately, in every instance, there has not been another vehicle immediately behind me. I have communicated this problem verbally to the Honda dealer and was advised all systems appear to be functioning correctly. The most severe instance was when I was going over a metal plate placed over the roadway during street repair. At other times, it will happen when approaching one particular intersection in my city. In any event, something in the automatic braking system is flawed. Good idea but there are dangerous "bugs" that need to be worked out.

My 2017 C R V Honda has twice experienced sudden and unexpected braking. The first time it braked very hard and displayed warning lights at the same time. The car was clean and no obstructions were present. My speed was approximately 40 mph. There was no traffic in front or behind me. The second time there was no traffic and the car didn’t brake as hard. There was a warning light at the same time as the braking occurred. Lately I’ve also had problems with the ADAS system. Several times it has disabled itself and displayed multiple warning messages. I’ve brought these problems to the Honda dealership attention with no satisfaction and only getting generic answers.

On five separate occasions, my Honda CR-V, the collision mitigation braking system (CMGS) slammed on the brakes and stopped the car when I was approaching a flat plate on the road. I had no vehicle even close in front of my car. The BRAKE light flashes everytime this happens. On four of those occasions, I have narrowly averted being hit from behind. Thank goodness, I had slowed down to under 25 MPH, but everything in the car went flying. My safety, the safety of my dog who was tethered in the back seat, the safety of my grandchildren in the back seat and the safety of the car behind me in traffic was at risk. I have found that this system can be turned off, but this has to be done everytime the car is started. I can see other reports of this problem on the Internet. My next step is to take it to the dealer.

System Failure: Fuel Emissions System Problem and all other warning lights are on. Safety: Cruise control does not function and automatic breaking does not function. Dealership: Yes, the problem was reproduced even after the spark plugs and rocket arm assembly were replaced inside the limits of the 6 year unlimited mileage warranty. The dealership acknowledged that 5 or 6 other customers were in with similar complaints this month. Others: an independent garage inspected the vehicle and confirmed that a warranty should cover this problem some 8 months ago. Indications are a weak cylinder may be the root cause of the fuel emissions system problem in addition to the fuel injectors and pipes. Warning lamps, messages and other symptoms were present prior to the failure and appeared well before the manufacturer's warranty expired. The dealership we purchased the vehicle from failed to locate the problem and did not repair when we first discovered the problem and brought the vehicle in for repair in 11/2020. We recently contacted Honda Corporation directly and they gave us a case number for reference while they review this complaint.

Today when I went to the service center after diagnosticians they mentioned that the Cruise control sensor has failed due to these issues. Due to pandemic the supply chain is impacted and part is not available. So I ordered the part to the service center. The BRAKE SYSTEM light is also on. I was driving on a city street with no vehicles in front of me or behind me. There was a patch of road that had a metal plate from construction (there was no active construction). Out of the blue and for no reason, the Automatic Brake light flashed and my CRV slammed on the brakes. If there had been a car behind me it would have hit me... if I had been on the highway and went over a plate it could have been tragic. Everything on my front passenger seat ended up on the floor. The CRV (which I own) is my daughter's car. I called Honda as soon as I got to my office to see if there was a recall and there was none. I am presently looking into how t turn this feature off.

Problem 1: My car has 30,000 miles but her Honda since it is past the 36 months it is no longer under warranty. Problem 2: I feel this is a safety issue due to the nature of the failure and the consequences of an immediately failure rendering the car undriveable. This is how the problem unfolded. I started the car. Immediately "System failures" started scrolling across the dash system including Power Brake Failure. I called Honda service, explained what was happening, and Per the Honda service representative, I was told I could drive the car in. I explained the car would not come out of park thus I could not drive it. I was then told how to manually get the car out of park to drive it in for evaluation. I put it in reverse to get out of the garage and when I tried to stop the car I and had no brakes or steering. I got the car to stop by standing with both feet and all my weight on the brake peddle. I Had towed on a flat bed tow truck into Ed Napleton Honda. I was told by Honda that they have never seen this system failure without "a rodent being involved" as they chew threw the housing and then chew on the wires causing the electrical problem. After about 36 hours I was called and told that they had to replace the Brake Power Booster sensor, "no evidence of rodent involvement" and no explanation of why the part failed. I was informed that before further evaluation could be done there was no choice but to replace the Power Booster. I was told it would be $2600.00 and that even if it was not the problem, I had to pay for the repair for they could continue the evaluation process. This is 3 X the cost of the part per another source I called. I also feel I could have been killed/injured or killed and/or injured other people on the road if this had happened when I was driving as there was no pre warning of the problem and having the Certified Service Associate telling me to drive the car knowing that I had total system failure's scrolling across my dash.

2017 Honda CRV Touring 19, 647 miles. As I was approaching a red light, I stepped on my brake to slow down and brake for the red light. Upon trying to stop, I had NO BRAKE POWER WHATSOEVER. Having no brake power I could not stop, I did have an accident and hit another vehicle. My vehicle still would not stop as I continued to try and brake. I drifted approximately 1/2 mile from the accident until it fully stopped. My airbag went off and my Honda Link did contact the police and ambulance. I had minor injuries and just went to my primary physician. I do have a police report. At this time it is at an independent collision center, once repaired it will go to Honda for scanning and diagnose. I am told it can be repaired, BUT, who will diagnose why this happened, and I don’t know why automatic emergency braking system didn’t work.

Went to the dealer and they said the radar needed to be replaced at a cost of $1300. Research on the internet indicates this is a problem with many 2017 Honda CRV's and class action lawsuits have been launched across the country. i believe there should be a recall on the 2017 Honda CRV since it is affecting so many vehicles. On a number of occasions the AEB has activated out of nowhere. Most often this has occurred when approaching an underpass, maybe the AEB is detecting the shadow of the bridge? WHILE DRIVING UNDER ORDINARY CONDITIONS, WARNING SYSTEMS BEGIN. THE FIRST WARNING IS TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THE AWD SYSTEM IS OVERHEATING. FROM THAT POINT, MANY DIFFERENT WARNING MESSAGES BEGIN SCROLLING WITH REPEATED WARNINGS OF ALL SYSTEMS IN THE CAR FAILING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS APART. ALSO, ON ONE OCCASSION, WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH TO CAUTION A SLOW DOWN, AND THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES OR OBSTACLES ON ANY SIDE OF THE CAR. AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THE COMPUTER SEEMS TO "RESET" ITSELF, AND NORMAL OPERATION IS RETURNED. ALL INSTANCES OCCURRED DURING NORMAL CITY DRIVING AT SPEEDS BELOW 35 MILES PER HOUR.

FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS ALL OF MY WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. THEY WILL GO OFF AT TIMES, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO RESTART MY CAR. IN ADDITION, MY DISPLAY WILL GO DIM OR GET VERY BRIGHT ON IT'S OWN. ON FEBRUARY 27, 2021 MY ALARM STARTED TO GO OFF FOR NO REASON. THEY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NO ONE WAS NEAR THE REMOTE. I COULD NOT GET THE ALARM TO GO OFF, NO MATTER WHAT I DID. ON MONDAY, MARCH 1ST I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START OR RESPOND TO ANYTHING WITH THE REMOTE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, VALLEY HONDA IN MONROEVILLE, PA. THEY STATED THAT IT COULD BE THE BATTERY HAVING LOW VOLTAGE. THE DEALERSHIP IS OVER 45 MINUTES AWAY AND I NEEDED A VEHICLE TO HELP CARE FOR MY ILL FATHER SO I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND INSTALLED IT LATE MONDAY NIGHT. AS SOON AS I STARTED THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE DASHBOARDS LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE ALARM WOULD RANDOMLY GO OFF. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON WEDS NIGHT. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A BODY CONTROL MODULE. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 50K MILEAGE BUT THE HONDA WARRANTY IS OUT. I EVEN CALLED HONDA WHO ONLY OFFERED A COURTESY PARTIAL PAYMENT, AS LONG AS I DID NOT PICK UP MY VEHICLE UNTIL THEY FINISHED THEIR INVESTIGATION. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR MY DISPLAY TO HAVE BEEN ACTING UP OR A NEED TO REPLACE A BCM WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD!

RECENTLY REPLACED BATTERY IN SUMMER OF 2020. GAVE THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION A JUMP AND UPON STARTING, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SOME OF THE SMART VEHICLE CONTROL. ONCE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED LIGHTS WENT AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS. BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE WARNING LIGHTS HAVE CONTINUOUSLY APPEARED ON THE DASH IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING. THESE LIGHTS HAVE TO DO WITH CRUISE CONTROL, HILL START ASSIST, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ALL WHEEL DRIVE. WHILE AT FIRST, IT WAS THOUGHT THE LIGHTS WERE GIVING A FALSE POSITIVE, BUT NOW, IT IS CONFIRMED THAT THE SAFETY FEATURES THAT THE LIGHTS ARE INDICATING ARE NOT WORKING POSING NUMEROUS SAFETY CONCERNS. HONDA CORPORATION AND HONDA DEALERSHIP HAVE NOT DEALT WITH OR PROPOSED ANY SOLUTIONS ON THE MATTER. LIVING IN A WINTER CLIMATE, ALL WHEEL DRIVE IS VITAL AND AFTER A RECENT SNOW EVENT, THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE IS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL POSING GREAT SAFETY CONCERN. THE LIGHTS ARE ON AT ALL TIMES AS LONG AS THE IGNITION IS ON, REGARDLESS OF STOPPED OR ACTIVELY MOVING.

THE SAFETY FEATURE REACTS TO SHADOWS ON THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3-4 TIMES WHERE IF I'M DRIVING UNDER A BRIDGE THE CAR WILL BEEP AND SHOW A MESSAGE ASKING ME TO HIT THE BRAKES. I THINK THE CAR SEES THE SHADOW OF THE BRIDGE ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME AS AN OBJECT AND IS ASKING ME TO STOP/ HIT THE BRAKES. IF THE CAR EVER APPLIES AUTOMATIC BRAKING, THEN THE CAR BEHIND ME CAN SLAM INTO ME CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.

TOOK VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER, THEY CLAIMED SOFTWARE ISSUE AND DID AN UPGRADE. PROBLEM IS BACK. I RESET THE COMPUTER BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. A FEW DAYS LATER PROBLEM RETURNS. DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE DRIVING OR PARKED. IT HAS FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED WITH ENGINE RUNNING. ERROR REQUIRES A COMPUTER RESET TO CLEAR IT. THE BRAKING OCCURRED WHEN THERE WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH DISTANCE BETWEEN OUR VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. ON THE HIGHWAY, PASSING CERTAIN EXITS TRIGGERS THE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING, FORCING THE CAR TO BRAKE. WE HAVE TO PRESS ON THE GAS IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY THROUGH THE TROUBLE SPOTS TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED. WE HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW CERTAIN EXITS BECAUSE THERE IS A CONCERN THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN UNEXPECTEDLY AS WE DRIVE NEW ROADS. WE VERBALLY COMMUNICATED THIS TO HONDA CORPORATE AND THE DEALER IN JAN 2021, AND THE RESPONSE WAS THAT THIS IS EXPECTED BEHAVIOR AND TO SEE THE MANUAL FOR LIMITATIONS OF THE SYSTEM. I DID RECEIVE CONFIRMATION THAT OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS CONCERN AS WELL. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT IN JULY 2019, AND THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT REPLICATE. WE WERE INFORMED THE CAR IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE SECOND DISCUSSION WITH THE DEALER (JAN 11, 2021) RESULTED IN THE RECOMMENDATION OF ADJUSTING THE SENSOR LENGTH UNDER CUSTOMIZE FEATURES. IT WAS DESCRIBED AS A POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENT BUT NOT A GUARANTEE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE WILL MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT TONIGHT. BOTH OCCASIONS, THE STOP OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, AND LUCKILY NO ONE BEHIND. IT WAS ALARMING THAT A SAFETY FEATURE COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. HONDA CORPORATE'S RESPONSE WAS THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED AND SEE THE MANUAL FOR THE LIMITATIONS. WE NO LONGER USE THE CAR FOR THE FAMILY.
