P0301 code Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected.
ALL dash lights came on and it showed all safety systems had faults. Took it to the dealership and was told I needed injectors. I have looked into this issue and many CR-V models have had warranty extensions for this exact issue. Lucky me mine is not one of the one's in the VIN group for this extension. So I am facing a $2,000 bill. The car is still driveable but its hard to feel safe with random dash lights coming on.
Head gasket failure due to ineffective cooling between cylinder 2 and 3
The head gasket is failing. The vehicle loses power on the freeway and on city streets, putting the driver & passengers at increase risk for collision. The dealer diagnosed the problem. We've had warning lights & symptoms since early in 2024, with no success in resolving the problem. Coil pack replaced in December 2024 and again in Feb 2025.
My 2017 CR-V (~$80k miles) will randomly fire every system or warning alert on the dashboard. This includes vital or important alerts like Brakes, Check engine light, Tire pressure, etc. There has been no way to reset it, and it persists through car restarts, system reboots, and driving. The first time this happened was [XXX], and I was able to reset it. However, it has returned a month and a half later ([XXX]) and there has been no remedy or reset that has worked. This issue is extremely dangerous, as it completely mitigates the safety features put in place for this vehicle. With all of the system warnings misfiring and no way to reset or check which are legitimate versus a complication, I am putting myself and others at risk if I drive. I will not know if there is a true issue with a tire, my engine, my brakes... I need my car but am wary of driving it now to keep myself and others safe. It also makes some features inaccessible (i.e., cruise control). I conducted further research prior to taking it to the dealership to better understand the potential cause and what could be done. After conducting that research, it seems this is a VERY common and fairly well-known issue. I have linked one of several forums demonstrating the scope of this issue. Example forum: [XXX] The system misfires are being diagnosed as issues with the fuel injectors, and owners are getting told to replace those fuel injectors to remedy the issue (cost of which equals around $1,400-2,200). Few also report that following installation of new fuel injectors, the issue has come back. Not everyone has ~$2k to fix an issue that is so common it should have already been addressed by Honda. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle crashed into a tree. The contact confirmed that the vehicle was in the park when it rolled away. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the air bags had not deployed. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was drivable and was taken back to the residence. No injury was sustained. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I replaced fuel injectors in my 2017 honda crv in September 2024 at Northtown Honda in Buffalo, NY. In November 2024 my girlfriend was driving the vehicle in Michigan and the car slowed down to below 20 mph on the highway and flashed all dashboard warning lights, what Honda refers to as "limp mode". This almost caused her get hit by a semi truck. The car was towed to Honda of Grand Blanc and I was told it needs a new turbo. The turbo was replaced and then in December 2024 the car again broke down while I was visiting Toronto, Canada. I had to pay for a tow back to Northtown Honda where I was informed that the vehicle needs a new engine and turbo. I have taken very good care of my vehicle, always done proper maintenance and oil changes. This model is known for some oil dilution problems and I was never informed of that from Northtown Honda where I regularly maintenance my vehicle. The car is currently at Northtown Honda as they told me the bill is around $12k and I can't afford to pay that.
The vehicle experienced multiple system failures, indicated by error messages in 11 different systems, including the check engine light. The affected systems were Tire Pressure Monitoring, Brake System, Electronic Power Steering, Vehicle Stability Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Electric Parking Brake, Emissions System, Brake Hold System, Hill Start Assist, and Collision Mitigation System. The vehicle was checked with a code scanner. The codes retrieved were “DTC 0300 Random Misfire, DTC P0301 No1 Cylinder Misfire, P0172 Fuel System (B1) Too Rich and DTC P0304 No4 Cylinder Misfire” No other system faults were detected despite the earlier errors. The direct injection fuel injectors and engine design seem to be the probable cause. There has been no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. There were no pre-warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before the failure, suggesting the underlying problem may have been developing over a long period without detection. When these errors were displayed, critical safety systems in the vehicle were rendered inoperable, posing a significant risk to my safety and others on the road. An emissions system issue should not have caused multiple safety systems to be disabled, as this could potentially lead to a crash or other hazardous situations. This issue is well-documented online as a common problem with the Gen5 Honda CR-V, with many owners reporting similar experiences. Despite widespread complaints, Honda has not taken corrective action, such as issuing a software update to prevent safety system failures or acknowledging a potential manufacturing defect in the fuel system and fuel injectors. This problem is leading to premature and frequent fuel injector replacements. This can also increase potential safety hazards along with risks for injury or death.

Earlier this week and again today, my wife and I were using our 2017 Honda CR-V EX when the car behaved very anomalously. In both of these instances, the car started normally and moved out onto the street, but then the engine abruptly bogged down and multiple messages of the form "xxx System Has A Problem" would cycle on the driver's display. At this time, the car would barely move forward or reverse, and shifting into reverse ("R") was accompanied by a noticeable jerk and a thump. The shifter display on the driver's display also appeared to be showing all of the possible shift settings at once. One or two cycles of rebooting the system on the infotainment/backup camera display appeared to clear the engine operation problem, but the error messages persisted for several miles and several restarts before they abruptly disappeared. Note that the streets here in Florida are very flat, and the weather this week has been mostly hot and humid with little rain. We have about 40,000 miles on the odometer, and the car has been serviced regularly by the local Honda dealer. When this anomalous behavior is not taking place, the car seems to move and accelerate normally. Several other complaints appear to describe the same problem, and some owners report that they have been told that they need new fuel injectors. We have not yet taken our car to the dealer or other mechanic, and the problem has not yet been reproduced by the dealer or anyone other than us. This appears to be a safety issue because a sudden loss of engine power in traffic could be very dangerous. During the malfunction with reduced engine power, I recorded a video of the driver's display which I can provide upon request.

I was driving my Honda CRV 2017 on I-65 in Birmingham - Montgomery area in Alabama in March 2024 and suddenly in the middle of the busy highway the vehicle stalled and wouldn’t drive even after stepping on the accelerator a little harder. I then turned on my emergency lights to signal to the behind vehicles that I have and emergency situation became I was in the middle of a busy highway and the vehicle simply wouldn’t drive. I managed to pull aside of the highway and turned the engine off because I didn’t know what the issue was. After a few minutes I started the vehicle again and drove a few miles and the vehicle stalled again. After a couple of repeated cycle, I got the vehicle to a nearby Honda dealership for diagnostic testing which later revealed that the fuel injectors, the head gasket, the turbo system etc were causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle is currently not drivable and has since been with the Honda dealership as I am writing. With taxes, the dealership is charging me approximately $5000 USD to fix this problem, money that I cannot afford. Not knowing what to do, I did a brief research to see if anyone else has experienced this issue before and I found out in the consumer report that other drivers have actually experienced exactly the same issue that happened to my vehicle. I currently do not have any additional vehicle for commuting and I am forced to use rented vehicles with the rental cost accumulating on the daily basis while my vehicle remains with the dealership. I am therefore writing this notification for Honda to look into this potentially risk safety incidence and help Honda CRV owners and myself get this problem fixed because such experience doesn’t boost consumer confidence for both current and future Honda CRV owners. 3 main issues: (July 2023) Suddenly when trying to accelerate on the interstate, I could not. I pulled over, turned the car off, and back on, and did not have the problem again for several months. (December 2023) Car started to sputter upon turning on. After a minute it ran fine. Continuous problem. (January 2024) Every single service light came on. Car would still operate but without cruise control, lane detecting, electric brake and every other feature. Lights remain on and flashing while driving. Still sputtered upon turning on but would stop after a minute. Several times when putting in drive, would not accelerate past 15mph approx). After restarting, the engine would seem to operate fine while all service lights remained on with functions of each not working. One day the car operated fine and did so for several days. Then the problems started again. I took it in for service and the dealer said it was a fuel injector that needed replaced. Waited for a part for 3 weeks and got the needed repairs. When I picked up the car it seemed to operate fine. The next day all problems started it again. It is currently in the shop to look for the cause.
In August my 2017 Honda CRV started losing acceleration and felt like it was stalling. Every light on the dashboard came on. I brought it to herb chambers in Westborough and they fixed the turbo charger, the vehicle was still under warranty so I expected to get the issue fixed. In early December the newly 'fixed' honda CR-V started losing acceleration, similar to the previous time. I got the car to the dealership and they fixed the same issue again but charging around 3000$ because now the car wasn’t under warranty. On Saturday January 6th I started up the 2017 Honda CRV with the intentions of going to Herb Chambers in Westborough. (10-15 miles). The CRV again loses acceleration and check engine light comes on along with every other light in the book. Realizing I was not going to make it to Herb Chambers, I pulled into a lot to call for AAA (thankfully our 3 year daughter wasn't with me). AAA Tows the car to Herb Chambers. This time they said it was the spark plugs and Herb Chambers Honda charged close to ANOTHER $1,000 for the SAME issue that should have been fixed in August of 2023. Please see attached Honda documents for your reference. Three times in the span of 4-5 months where the car suddenly goes ‘limp’, on busy highways no mind you, I had to put my hazards on and pray no one hit me, it’s gotten to a point of where there is a known issue and these Honda service departments know this, but still ‘work on your car’, for outrageous sums.
My honda when I was driving on my dash started going crazy and says power steering, brakes, tire pressure, adaptive cruise control etc.. I can use any of my safety features when driving the car is constantly telling me there's all these things wrong.
Beginning 8/22 and currently happening, my 2017 CR-V 1.5L Turbo with 48K miles (and all routine services done at Honda dealership/service centers since buying it brand new) does not engage when going from Reverse to Drive; in 1st gear the RPMS increase up to 3K or so before shifting into 2nd gear. When stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, and the car is idling, when starting up again the car hesitates and shutters before engaging. When on the highway and slow down for traffic or switching lanes, the vehicle hesitates even when pushing the gas pedal consistently or down all the way. I have had the vehicle into three different Honda dealerships/service centers and they can replicate the issue but no resolution as there are no service codes identified during diagnostics and none appear on the dash. First Honda advisor came up with no recommendations; 2nd advisor flushed and replaced transmission fluid; and 3rd advisor suggested testing and replacing turbo at cost of $3500+ and no guarantee it would solve the problem. I am distressed that the issue cannot be identified by Honda and fixed. I fear for my personal safety and that of my passengers as the CR-V is less reliable and I only drive short distances when need be. Taking it on a road-trip or long distance is out of the question. It’s a matter of time before I’m left stranded or in an accident due to lack of throttle response.
Fuel injector System issue which disables KEY safety features of our CR-V's when it occurs. An injector issue should NOT cause safety features of the CR-V to stop working (ex. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPS, Hill Start Assist, Braking, etc...) In addition to the disabling key safety features, this CR-V's have reportedly gone into limp mode while at highway speeds. If this occurs to you while you have a 18 wheeler on your rear, you could potentially be in a serious injury/life event.
All alerts on dashboard are active - Emission, Brakes, hill-assist, auto high-beam, collision mitigation system, etc. Can no longer drive my car safely. Dealer confirmed. The car just had its oil changed and air filter replaced.
Major driveability/safety issue. The vehicle started skipping and jerking on highway I-93 on the New Hampshire/ Massachusetts line. I was accelerating to 65 mph and merged with traffic, when the car engine began stalling intermittently. The check engine and maintenance indicator lights turned on. As I coasted to the side of the road, the vehicle continued to jerk and slow/speed up.
CRV was running fine with zero problems prior to this incident. Stopped at a red light and when the light turned green the car would not move. Transmission would not go into gear. Dealer has vehicle and stated that the belt in the transmission broke, 2nd shaft not moving. Requires a brand new transmission
My wife was driving the car with her 2 friends on highway left lane , all the sudden the engine light flash and the engine was stalling (cannot accelerate). She was driving 55mph before , all the sudden she only can driving 20mph even she gas up. Luckily she was able to pull over to the right lane and parked on the right side zebra lane. Then I went to help my wife I was only 5-10 minutes from where she was. I drove off the highway with 22mph even I gas up (unable to accelerate past 25th). I got out the highway then turn off and on the engine then the light disappeared. Next day we drove then emission system problem light turn on, same turn off and on the engine then the light disappeared. Next day Monday I went to my mechanic and he told me there no light on , come back when the light on. Same day Monday we drove the emissions light turn on again after we drove about 10-15 miles, I went to my mechanic and he told me there problem with the fuel system, the car unable to burn off all the fuel and the fuel get into the engine. There is a problem with the designs on the fuel and injector system and there was a recall in China and service bulletin 19-037. Of course the light turn off after my mechanic change the engine oil which in China Honda performed oil change for life for all the crv which sold in China. My mechanic did the oil change and tell me go to the dealership as soon as possible. So I went to the Honda dealership next day and they told me to pay for the diagnostic but the light not on , it does not make any sense for me to pay $179 and no code since there no light turn on on the dashboard. I told them I just want to fix the problems which stated on the bulletin, but they refused, I spoke to the manager and Honda customer service, they told me same thing, need to diagnose before anything can be done. I suggested the Honda recall all model crv from 2017 to fix the defective design problems before anyone get serious injury. Stalling is a safety iss
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? 2017 Honda CR-V transmission (CVT) has a leak. Brought to Honda dealership, they diagnosed with faulty torque converter seal. Yes, it is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Transmission fluid is leaking, will lead to possible transmission failure in near future at any time. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Car was taken to dealership and they told me it is not worrisome that transmission is leaking and to check the level more frequently. Looked on Honda forums regarding issue and problem happens in all honda models with their CVT and wide mileage range on cars affected. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. Problem was noticed when I went underneath car to change engine oil. Transmission fluid covered the bottom of transmission. Car's undercarriage was covered in fluid.
The push button knob on the gear shift broke when putting the car into reverse, during normal use. This resulted in being unable to use the gear shift to shift gears. This put passengers and pedestrians in danger in a parking lot, as the car was then unable to be shifted into park. When the CRV is unable to be put into park, the engine will not fully turn off. A 29 May 2019 Honda Service Bulletin exists for this problem and is found on NHTSA.gov. There were no warnings or symptoms before the incident occurred.
The issue was reported on 08OCT2022 to a Phil Hughes Honda. The vehicle was brought into the Phil Hughes on 13OCT2022 due to all the lights on the dash were lit up but was drivable to the dealer. Prior to completing the Service Bulletin 19-032, Phil Hughes Honda diagnosed with P0301 (Cylinder 1) misfiring and P0172 (fuel system too rich). The lead service tech has already mentioned the root cause is the fuel injectors causing the misfire and fuel system too rich. I had the vehicle for less than one day after the completion of the service bulleting 09-032. There was lost of power on the road on three (3) different occasions. Loss of power means the vehicle went into "limp" mode during normal road driving and dropped acceleration from normal speed 60mph to ~20mph and continued to decelerate to about ~10mph. The vehicle was pulled over, turned off for about 5 minutes, and turned back on with all the warning lights remaining lit. All the warning lights remain on and was diagnosed again by Phil Hughes Honda and, this time, they got more codes. But, this time there were misfires with Cylinder 1, 2, 3 AND 4 which would be codes P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, and P0172 fuel system too rich. Again, the root cause has been diagnosed to be the fuel injectors. Case # [XXX] is open Honda of America has been contacted and Case # [XXX]. Honda of America classifies fuel injectors as an emissions part which is hard to believe as fuel in delivered to the engine which the engine is part of the power train. Honda Service Bulletin 19-032 says the POSSIBLE CAUSE is "Based on certain driving patterns and environmental factors, the DTC's state above may set or whirling noise may occur). This is not true and the true root cause is fuel injectors. This is a HIGH RISK that is waiting to occur and there could have been a FATALITY as the vehicle dropped in deceleration in the middle of the street and someone could have gotten rear-ended and killed. The automatic gear shift button completely broke off cant shift into any gear we bought it used and you can tell whoever had it before us or the dealership glued the button back so it worked for awhile
Fuel injectors failed at 45k miles, resulting in PO304 and PO172. Engine dies at speed causing the vehicle to stop and requires a restart to resume acceleration. Problem is intermittent and happens without notice. Dealer confirmed failed fuel injectors. Vehicle stops enters limp mode (0% power, does not respond to accelerator input) at random speeds. vehicle needs full stop and restart to resume driving. Yes, Dealer confirmed fuel injectors are faulty and suggests this is fairly common with this model CRV Yes, Honda will replace the injectors. Suggest the failure is common but not covered under warranty or goodwill repair All dashboard warning lights (Brake System Failure, Parking Brake Failure, Traction Control, Power Steering, Lane Keeping, Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Etc.)
The shifter knob fell out of the shifter while in drive (operation) causing the vehicle to not be able to be shifted into neutral/park when stopped. The issue is a known issue as reporting in TSB 19-063 but the VIN of my vehicle is not included in the TSB.
while shifting into park shifter release button came out.Plastic broke on shifter release button.Had to temporarily reinstall button each time want to shift.I see there are a lot of complaints of same problem.Have worked for 32 years as an aircraft mechanic and know a part not designed correctly.
I was traveling over the weekend (700 miles). I stopped at a convenience store, went to shift in to Park, and there was no button left in the shift lever. I was able to shift to Neutral so I did not drive through the front door. Had this happened while in a roadway, it could have lead to a far worse outcome. I was able to figure out how the inner parts of the level are aligned to shift gears and finish my trip, with several interruptions as more and more pieces fell out and changed my ability to get the shifter to work in a new way. I have found ample videos on the repair process as this appears to be a very common issue. This affects the functioning of the transmission and is very dangerous. I cannot find any open recalls for my VIN. If this has been replaced before, the replacement is also defective.
on 5/7/2022, noticed vehicle overheated with no warning indicators other than temp gauge had risen. upon checking vehicle noticed cooling fan was not running and found coolant low. fan would run when AC was engaged clearing possible faulty fan. upon adding coolant, the fan engaged itself. This appears to be a flaw in the design of the electrical system of the vehicle that could lead to disabling the vehicle due to overheating with no prior warnings or indicators, especially since the fan is unable to run when the coolant is low to help keep engine cool.
Emergency braking engaged unexpectedly, electronic module failure ,all warning lights flashed on the information system , vehicle would not turn off, headlights flashing, windshield wipers engaged without input from driver. Transmission would not engage. This would be very dangerous if had occurred on highway , it occurred in a rural area with very little traffic.
Shifter button fell off. I was looking for recall information when I found this for. Nothing else has been done. I was parked at the time.
shifter knob button broke off! unable to control car when this important gadget is broken! can not control the gears now. can not move to P or D or R, etc. no warning at all. just fell off yesterday. luckily this happened while it was parked in a parking lot.
The gear shift popped off making us unable to put the car in drive whenever it was in park. The gear shift also came off as well.
My Honda CRV's shift knob button broke off while I was driving. I had a hard time parking the car. After 20 minutes or so of trying, I somehow managed to park the car. After I parked, I noticed there were broken pieces of plastic inside the shift where the knob button was attached. I was scared to drive after this incident. Also, I felt this as a safety concern as I can't imagine my daughter being in this situation as she will be a new driver soon. I am attaching the pictures for your reference. Thank you.
Brought the vehicle to Honda dealership due to check engine warning. Codes P0172 and P219F appeared. Honda tech performed 19-032 procedure and cleared the warning light. Three weeks later the warning light appeared again.

The contact stated that the piece that is attached to the gear shift had suddenly broken off The contact stated that he had to manually pair the broken peace to the gear shift in order to change gears. The contact stated that he contacted the dealer and he was advised that there were no recalls on his vehicle ,however there has been several complaints about the same failure on other vehicles, same year, make, and model. The contact stated he has not contacted the manufacture at this time. The contact stated he will be getting his vehicle repaired ,however he is concerned that he could experience the failure while driving the vehicle. The mileage failure was 40,000.
The shift button broke off the handle to control drive train and car was in drive. Could not turn engine off or shift to park.
44,000 miles all warning lights come on. Dealer says, need new injectors and a pipe. to my knowledge injectors were redesigned. still coming on but car runs smoot. and very good gas mileage.
I was driving with my grandchildren in my 2017 CR-V AWD and when I stopped the vehicle I was unable to put the car in park. I could not move the gear shift and then the gear shift knob fell off. I had to call my husband who was able to rig it so that we could put the car in our driveway. I researched online and on this site and see that it is a known problem. I took the car to the dealership today. They stated that it was a recall but that my car VIN was not included in the recall. My car was the first one that they had repaired that was not included in the recall. I had it fixed and paid $82.96. It is not just the money that upsets me but the fact that I was stuck with no way to put my car in park and that they knew about the problem but had not notified me to get it fixed. I did do an online chat with a Honda rep and am waiting to hear back from them. I only had 28,209 miles on my vehicle. I was not given the old parts after the repair
The shift lever push button fell off while I was driving the car. Luckily it did not cause an accident to me. Now the car is unusable until repaired.
When driving, the gear shift button fell out. I was able to temporarily continue putting it in to shift gears, but then the internal part crumbled and the gear will not lock/permanently pressed in. Overnight, this caused my car to lose power (battery drain)? Will require replacement to be installed; cannot use car in meantime.

UKNOWN. The button on the shifter knob broke when I shifted from park into reverse. I have to reassemble it every time I need to shift.
Entire system failure occurred while driving on a 4-lane interstate at speeds of 70 mph in congested traffic in air temps of 80 F (sunny). Vehicle lost all power both electrical / mechanical for roughly four to five seconds. There was immediate deacceleration and zero power (electrical / mechanical). Driver's immediate response was to remove hands from steering wheel and removed foot from gas in a state of shock/disbelief. Vehicle then restarted itself and resumed function. Driver was put at extreme risk as well as all other drivers / vehicles in surrounding roadway due to the extreme deacceleration with no warning. Incident reported to dealer who stated they had not heard of such an occurrence and requested vehicle be brought in for a $120 diagnostic check. Vehicle purchased new. Mileage at time of incident 20,000.
While driving down the road, the button on the gear shifter popped off. It’s the button you push to move the shifter from Park to Drive, etc. I pulled over, but could not put the vehicle in Park or any other gear. Being already in Drive, I drove to Hendrick Honda in Easley, SC where they quickly put in a new button. It cost about $75. I was told that this is a known problem in 2017 Honda CRVs, the plastic attachment breaks and must be replaced. I was told that “there was a recall on some vehicles”, but there was no recall on mine. If there is a known problem affecting the shifting, it should be recalled and repaired. Turning off the vehicle in Drive, with no option to use Park is not safe. I could use the parking brake, of course. At a minimum, owners should know about the problem and what to do.

HONDA DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE OIL HAS PETROLEUM IN IT. HONDA ALSO ACCEPTS DILUTION IS NORMAL IN THEIR CARS WITH THIS ENGINE, YET THE DEALERSHIP DENIED ANY SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY ADDED A DYE AND ASKED THAT I CONTINUE DRIVING AND COME BACK FOR AN OIL CHANGE WHICH WILL BE DUE IN ABOUT 3000 MILES. THE OIL MIXED WITH PETROL CAUGHT ON FIRE WHEN I WAS SMOKING IN THE GARAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR EVERYONE THAT WORKS IN THEIR GARAGE, SMOKES, COOKS OR HAS A HEAT SOURCE NEAR IT. IT CAN CAUSE FIRE AND DEATH. HIGH CHANCES OF ENGINE STALLS DUE TO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE.

RECENTLY REPLACED BATTERY IN SUMMER OF 2020. GAVE THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION A JUMP AND UPON STARTING, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SOME OF THE SMART VEHICLE CONTROL. ONCE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED LIGHTS WENT AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS. BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE WARNING LIGHTS HAVE CONTINUOUSLY APPEARED ON THE DASH IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING. WHILE AT FIRST, IT WAS THOUGHT THE LIGHTS WERE GIVING A FALSE POSITIVE, BUT NOW, IT IS CONFIRMED THAT THE SAFETY FEATURES THAT THE LIGHTS ARE INDICATING ARE NOT WORKING POSING NUMEROUS SAFETY CONCERNS. HONDA CORPORATION AND HONDA DEALERSHIP HAVE NOT DEALT WITH OR PROPOSED ANY SOLUTIONS ON THE MATTER. LIVING IN A WINTER CLIMATE, ALL WHEEL DRIVE IS VITAL AND AFTER A RECENT SNOW EVENT, THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE IS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL POSING GREAT SAFETY CONCERN. CAR ALSO HAS FUEL AND OIL MIXING ISSUE WHICH I BROUGHT IT UP ON MY RECENT VISIT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THEY'LL NEED TO DRAIN THE OIL AND REFILL WITH NEW OIL AND FILTER TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE. WHILE THEY WERE TAKING OUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PRESENCE OF FUEL BUT THE SMELL OF FUEL IN ENGINE OIL IS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE'S BEEN TIME WHERE VEHICLE WILL BE STUCK IN HIGH RPM WHEN ON HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED DURING HIGH SPEED. AND EVENTUALLY IT'LL SHIFT THE GEAR AFTER 5-10 SECONDS AND BRING DOWN THE RPM. SMELL IS ALSO NOTICED DURING FIRST START IN MORNINGS SPECIALLY NOW SINCE IT'S WINTER.

I OWN A 2017 HONDA CR-V 1.5 TURBO FWD AND MY VEHICLE IS SUFFERING FROM THE AFFECTS OF 'OIL DILUTION.' I REGULARLY HAVE MY OIL CHANGED BY HONDA, BUT I NOTICED, UPON RETURNING FROM A LONG TRIP IN NORTHERN INIDIANA OVER WINTER, A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WHEN CHECKING MY OIL-DIPSTICK AND THE VOLUME WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN EXPECTED. WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO HONDA, I WAS ADVISED THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF A PROBLEM FOR ALL 2017-2018 CR-V 1.5 TURBOS WITH RESIDUAL GAS DRIPPING INTO THE CYLINDERS AND EVENTUALLY THE OIL CRANK-CASE, CALLED 'OIL DILUTION'. I ASKED THE HONDA TECHNICIAN TO CHECK FOR GASOLINE IN MY OIL, BUT THEY SAID NO SUCH TEST WAS AVAILABLE. HE ADVISED ME THAT NO FIX CURRENTLY EXISTS, ASIDE FROM MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES. I THEN FOLLOWED UP WITH THE LEAD TECHNICIAN AT MY DEALER TO RESOLVE THE SAFETY CONCERN, BUT I WAS VERBALLY TOLD THAT HONDA DOES NOT INTEND TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE UNLESS LITIGATION IS MANDATED. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM POSSES A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THESE VEHICLES AGE AND THE RISK OF ENGINE SEIZURE OR EXPLOSION INCREASE. HONDA NORTH AMERICA'S POSITION IS THAT SINCE THERE ARE SO FEW 2017 CR-VS WITH TURBO ON THE ROAD, THEY DO NOT SEE A REASON TO ACT. THERE IS A FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM WITH THIS HONDA TURBO FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, WHICH WAS FIXED FOR THE 2019 MODELS. A SOFTWARE PATCH IS BEING ISSUED BY HONDA CANADA, BUT THIS IS NOT OFFERED IN SOUTHERN STATES AND HONDA REFUSES TO COMMENT ON THE LONG TERM IMPACT AND DEGRADED PERFORMANCE. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND FELLOW DRIVERS.

WHEN I GOT IT INTO REVERSE, THE SHIFT BUTTON BROKE OFF AND SPRING FELL ON THE GROUND. ENDED UP GETTING IT TO THE HONDA DEALER ON 01/07/2019 WHO APPARENTLY HAS SEEN A LOT OF THESE. CAR HAD AROUND 13,500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

I WAS TOLD THE OIL LEVEL WAS HALF QUART OVER FILLED AND WAS BECAUSE GAS WAS NOT BEING BURNED DURING COMBUSTION BECAUSE ENGINE WAS NOT HOT ENOUGH. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND NOT TO WORRY. I DON'T THINK THE OIL WILL PROTECT MY ENGINE WHEN IT IS SO DILUTED WITH GASOLINE.I FILED A COMPLAINT AND GOT A CASE NUMBER [XXX] FROM HONDA AMERICA, BUT WANT THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED BEFORE THERE IS LONG TERM DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL. I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THESE CARS HAVE AN ENGINE PROBLEM WITH GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE OIL AND DILUTING IT. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS 1/4" ABOVE THE FULL MARK. THE OIL WAS CHANGED IN JANUARY OF 2018 AT 4200 MILES, IT NOW HAS 7200 MILES ON IT. I WILL NOW TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN. THESE TWO PROBLEMS, AS I UNDERSTAND IT ARE RELATED IN THAT A COLD ENGINE WILL ALLOW MORE FUEL PAST THE PISTON RINGS UNTIL IT WARMS UP. THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR ALL OF THE RADIO ISSUES ARE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN SO YOU DON'T LOSE YOUR HEARING AND PULL THE CAR OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, & RESTART THE CAR. THIS IS STARTLING WHEN THE VOLUME GOES ALL THE WAY UP AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. YOU CANNOT HEAR WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND YOU & ARE IN A DANGEROUS PREDICAMENT IN TRYING TO GET PULLED OVER SOMEWHERE SAFE TO RESTART YOUR CAR. I BEGAN REPORTING THE ISSUE IN SEPTEMBER 2017 TO MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS WITH APPLE. NOW HONDA STATES THAT IT IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" BUT HAS PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. I HAVE NUMEROUS VIDEOS OF THESE OCCURRENCES FOR DOCUMENTATION. ADDITIONALLY, MY ENGINE OIL SMELLS OF GASOLINE. THE DIPSTICK READS HIGH AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED ME TO CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES AND TO NOT DRIVE SHORT TRIPS. THE ENGINE HESITATED ONCE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE DOES NOT HEAT UP AT IDLE AND DURING COLD WEATHER YOU CANNOT OPERATE YOUR WINDOW DEFROSTER. THIS CAUSES SAFETY ISSUES BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE OUT THE WINDOWS. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO RIDE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN WHEN IT'S COLD IN ORDER TO SEE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 20,000 MILES I HEARD A POP. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, I SAW THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER KNOB POPPED OUT. THIS RENDERED ME UNABLE TO SHIFT MY CAR FROM DRIVE TO ANY OTHER GEAR. HONDA SEEMS TO BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AS THE SERVICE TECH AND ADVISOR BOTH STATED THAT THIS HAPPENS "ALL THE TIME." DEALERSHIP REPLACED KNOB. HONDA MADE A DEFECTIVE & DANGEROUS PRODUCT. I KNOW THAT MY VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE A DEFECTED GEAR SHIFT BECAUSE THAT BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT STICK SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO POP OUT ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH UNDER 6000 MILES ON IT. THAT PART SHOULD NEAR BE MADE POORLY BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS IF IT POPS OUT WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. THE HONDA SERVICE PEOPLE CLAIM SOMEONE PRIED IT OFF., IMPOSSIBLE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MARKS ON MY STICK AND THAT IS A VERY VERY THIN SPACE BETWEEN THE BUTTON INSERT AND THE GEAR SHIFT STICK ITSELF. I TOLD HONDA I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO DRIVES MY VEHICLE AND MY VEHICLE IS WELL KEPT (CLEAN) INSIDE AND OUT . I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE, I AM STILL PAYING FOR IT. I BELIEVE ON MY VEHICLE THAT GEAR SHIFT STICK WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER POORLY AND CHEAPLY ASSEMBLED.

MY NEW 2017 HONDA CRV EX THAT ONLY HAS 6850 MILES DRIVEN ON IT HAS A TERRIBLE DEFECT WITH OIL DILUTION ISSUES DUE TO FUEL LEAKING INTO THE OIL PANS CAUSING OVERFLOW AND DILUTION TO THE OIL THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LUBRICATING THE ENGINE. THE OIL SMELLS VERY POTENT OF FUEL AND ALMOST 1 QUART OF EXTRA FLUID WAS DRAINED FROM THE OIL PAN WHEN TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AFTER REPORTING THE ISSUE. THE DEALER AGREED THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH FUEL DILUTING INTO THE OIL BUT WERE TOLD BY THE HONDA CORPORATE TECH LINE THAT THEY WERE TO JUST REPLACE THE OIL UNTIL A FIX COMES OUT. THE DEALER TECHNICIANS ASKED ABOUT CHANGING THE FUEL INJECTORS OR MAYBE A CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT BUT WERE TOLD NOT TO DO ANYTHING. IT IS NOT SAFE TO RELEASE THESE CARS BACK TO THE OWNER KNOWING THERE IS AN DEFECT ISSUE THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN REALLY ATTEMPT TO FIX THAT IS CAUSING INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS TO BREAK DOWN FASTER THAN NORMAL AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO EVENTUAL BREAKDOWNS LEADING TO WRECKS. THE COMPANIES "FIX" IS TO GO IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 500-1000 MILES EVEN THOUGH EXCESSIVE FUEL IS STILL MIXING WITH THE OIL. HONDA HAS REPORTED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING IN COLDER CLIMATES, BUT I AM STILL HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THIS IN TENNESSEE WEATHER.

WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT HONDA STATED IT IS A COMMON ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER (I LIVE AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NORTHERN WI - LAME EXCUSE. WHEY SELL THEM HERE IF THEY DON'T WORK IN THE COLD). THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND VARIOUS OTHER ENGINE PARTS. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE SATELLITE RADIO RECEIVER REPLACED (IT BURNT OUT). THERE WAS FUEL IN THE ENGINE OIL. ALL THIS WITH LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON THE 2017 HONDA CR-V. NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE. IT RUNS NOW, BUT THE ENGINE IS MUCH LOUDER WITH A NOTICABLE CLICKING NOISE THAT WASN'T THERE WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I WAS PLANNING A MAIDEN VOYAGE FROM WI TO SEATTLE, WA (TO VISIT ELDERLY MOTHER WHO LIVES THERE) BUT LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE'S RELIABILITY. WHAT IS MY FIX FOR THIS? DEALERSHIP BALKED AT THE SUGGESTION OF REPLACING THE VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER ONE. OVERALL, I THINK THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE TO HAVE AN AUTOMOBILE COMPLETELY FAIL IN TRAFFIC. LIMPING OFF THE ROADWAY AT A MAXIMUM POSSIBLE SPEED OF 10 MPH IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER AND THE MAKINGS FOR POSSIBLE FATAL CONSEQUENCES. HONDA SHOULD BE LOOKING SERIOUSLY INTO THIS ISSUE AND NOT MAKING LAME EXCUSES LIKE THIS HAPPENS TO THE CR-V IN COLD WEATHER ([XXX]). I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN COLD CLIMATES WHERE THE CAR IS USED FOR SHORT DRIVES AND DOES NOT WARM UP COMPLETELY. SINCE THEN I HAVE LEARNED THAT ALL CRVS WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBOCHARGED ENGINE HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN CHINA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE NO HEAT FOR WINTER DRIVING WITH FROZEN WINDSHIELD BEFORE DRIVING AND WHILE DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS!
