Car has been having all of the dashboard lights come on. I search up this and there are so many same gen Honda CRV 2017-19 having the same issue happen repeatedly. I have came across atleast 50+ people online that keep having this issue come back. Also at times it will says engine is too hot and to park safely. This is 3rd time where my car is in idle and the car shuts off and says engine is too hot to which I then turn it off. When I proceed to try to start car after waiting it does not stay on. I went to 2 different Hondas and they stated battery, alternator, starter are good. This car is no good if everyone is having the same issues.
2017 Honda CR V- Hybrid (under 10 year under 150,000 miles) All warning lights on the dashboard—including the Check Engine Light, Oil Pressure Warning, Battery Warning Light, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Light, Brake System Warning, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) Light, Fuel Level Warning Light, and Engine Temperature Warning Light—activated intermittently. This issue intermittently occurred each time the vehicle was started, with symptoms lasting from a few days up to several weeks. The warning lights would temporarily resolve, with periods lasting from a few days to several months. The vehicle's battery was replaced twice within one year, which seemed to temporarily alleviate the issue; however, the warning lights recurred afterward. Recently, Honda was able to conduct a thorough diagnosis with the lights going off and seems to have identified the root cause, leading to the replacement of the spark plugs and fuel injectors at an approximate cost of $2,000. If unaddressed, this issue could pose safety risks such as rough idling, decreased fuel efficiency, engine misfires, difficulty starting, poor acceleration, unexpected stalling, sudden complete loss of power, and electrical problems. This issue is recognized by Honda and is currently covered under a recall for the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot and the 2023-2025 Honda Accord Hybrid. While the Honda Accord Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid share the same fuel injection system as part of Honda’s two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has not yet been included in this recall. Nonetheless, many Honda CR-V Hybrid owners are experiencing similar issues and are incurring repair costs out of pocket. Honda, please consider including our Honda CR-V Hybrid in your recall for your fuel injection system issue. Including all within the 10 yr 150k miles that are using this faulty fuel injection systems.
the CMBS activated when driving when no other vehicle was in front of my vehicle. the car came to a stop.
The headlights were on after I replaced the battery. Did a little bit of research and found that the body control module or (BCM) would be going out. Got a new one sent and tried replacing it and the part didn't end up working. Took it to a non honda dealer. Got it taken care of, but the new BCM wouldn't work. All warning lights came on and now I have to deal with the BCM going out again and not able to return the part back to Honda.
My car decelerated on the highway from a speed of approximately 65 mph to 9 mph in a matter of seconds without any reason. I drove in the breakdown lane with flashers on to get to the next exit and upon entering the off-ramp my CRV suddenly accelerated back to normal. I took my vehicle to my Honda dealership and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It was showing no codes. The write-up did not mention my description of the deceleration on the highway. It discussed only my thought that my alternator might be bad. This was 8/19/25. Since this check at the dealership my car has done this exact act two more times on the highway for no reason. I am terrified to drive my car on the highway because I fear for my safety.
On July 31, 2025, my 2017 Honda CR-V was diagnosed by a certified Honda dealership with complete air conditioning failure. The A/C compressor produced a loud knocking noise and was found to have leaked black debris (burned oil/metal), contaminating the entire system. I was informed the system required full replacement, totaling $4,500. The defect has disabled the ability to cool the vehicle cabin, which poses a risk to drivers with health conditions. It also affects window defogging and visibility, especially in humid, rainy conditions. This matches hundreds of similar complaints and class action lawsuits filed against Honda for known A/C system defects in 2016–2021 CR-V and Civic models. My car is outside the standard compressor warranty, and Honda refuses to provide assistance. This failure should be considered a safety hazard, particularly for individuals who require temperature control for medical reasons.
Air conditioning goes off before reaching 40,000 miles.
I have purchased a car from a private seller with an altered odometer (mileage discrepancy and now it has all type of lights showing on the dash and car stops running all of a sudden I have taken to Honda dealer for diagnosis and they told us we been fraud on miles and they messed with it electronically
The electrical system periodically goes haywire - all warning lights come on and flash. It some cases, my car lost power and it was unsafe to drive. I was worried it would overheat. I have rebooted and sometimes it resets and sometimes it doesn't. it is extremely rough starting now. The electrical problem can start when i start the car and sometimes it happens while driving. with all warnings going, it concerns me that I would not know which alert might be real. The vehicle seems to short itself out. i have changed the battery more times than would be normal. It is draining the battery while sitting (no lights or other issues that would cause it). The electrical system flashing has been happening from the beginning but it is getting more frequent and doesn't reset. I have also taken it to a mechanic a d paid for various repairs and nothing helps.
Our 2017 Honda CRV EX Body Control Module has to be replaced due to the alarm system coming on and the car trying to start itself along with a parasitic drain. I have driven Honda's my entire life because they are suppose to be reliable and I guess this is no longer the case. Very disappointed with this vehicle.
ALL warning lights come on at once while driving. First occurrence happened during a snowy day. I immediately went to an independent facility to have the codes run as I was concerned with losing braking ability as it was one of the many lights saying there was an issue. The mechanic checked it for codes and listed all the faults I could see on the dash. Mechanic said most likely it was a battery problem, so the battery was tested and was fine. Safety at risk due to sudden cancellation of cruise control and not having emergency automatic braking. 2 independent repair shops have been able to reproduce the issue. One was able to clear the codes and have the issue be reproduced real-time connected to reader. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer or police insurance reps. The warning lamps are: all of them. Electrical, power steering, emerg. Braking, TPMS, LKAS, engine, etc. During the winter the lights stay on for weeks at a time. Spring and early summer significantly less. Summer time thus far has been higher than in the spring, but the time they are on is less (a day or two) Temperature is the only thing I noticed a real difference with. Cold was the worst. Not even having the vehicle warmed up would remove the lights. They turn on and off whenever they want.
American Honda extended the warranty for the A/C compressor shaft seal on the 2017 Honda CR-V to 10 years from the original purchase date, with no mileage limitation. This extended warranty covers the repair or replacement of the A/C compressor shaft seal if it leaks. This is due to a known corrosive material that they used in the system. My car failed this seal and they would replace this for free. However, the discharge hose on the same system also failed due to corrosion of the same material. The hose is not covered under the warranty and Honda will not fix the hose or even cover any percentage of the cost. Herb Chambers in Burlington won't do the AC comprssor shaft seal without the hose being replaced because the system will still leak. American Honda and Herb Chambers want me to pay $1400 for a repair to the discharge hose before they will perform the work on the compressor seal. If the corrosive material was the culprit for the shaft seal, then it is also the culprit on the discharge hose and I would like to make sure they are responsible for using this corrosive material and they should cover the whole repair. I would like to know my options.
It has not been looked at yet due to not having funds to get it looked at. I do know others have the same consistent issue with these models especially when they’d get around 70,000 miles. All of the warning lights the last few months would continue to cut on and off. Now they just stay on. The Car drives fine though but is a safety hazard since it can’t tell us if something is wrong.
All the safety feature icons come on each time the vehicle is started and stay illuminated on the dashboard. It is unclear if these safety features would work in the event they are needed. Feel this is a safety concern that Honda is not addressing.
The car first does not respond to the key fob and when you look inside the dash is on despite not using push-to-start and you have to use the manual key to open the door. Then the car alarm will go off and continue not to repond to the KeyFob until you, once again, use the manual key to unlock and silence th e car. The only solution I have gotten is to take the battery out of my key fob and disable push-to-start function. They already replaced my Key Fob AND car battery and the problem has persisted. No recall information as of yet and I'm taking it to the dealership for further scrutiny...
The infotainment system goes dark intermittently without warning. The screen blinks, showing the "Brightness" feature. Dangerous as using this system to navigate on the highway. I cannot find a TSB or recall for this problem?
I have had my car taken to Honda dealerships with an issue of all my warning lights would come on. No one has been able to fix the issue. The spark plugs, battery, air filters, have been replaced and diagnostic tests were done. The warning lights would stop for a couple of months and then start again. The last time all the warning lights came on my car began to stall and not got over 8 - 10 mph when I would start to drive. I would pull over, turn off my car, restart, then it would be ok to drive. The part that scared me was when I was on a busy highway, traveling close to 65 - 70 mph and my car stalled/lost power. Thankfully, I was able to pull to the side of the highway without getting myself or anyone hurt. I have since stopped driving on the highway. The last mechanic (Honda certified) has told me my head gasket needs replaced. Not something I would expect but it does explain a lot of the issues I have been having. My car is parked until I am able to get it repaired.
The rear windshield of the car exploded during a routine drive without any apparent cause. The car was inspected by a Montgomery County police officer and was driven to the local Honda dealership. The local Honda dealership could not offer any additional insights into the root cause of the incident.
My 2017 CR-V (~$80k miles) will randomly fire every system or warning alert on the dashboard. This includes vital or important alerts like Brakes, Check engine light, Tire pressure, etc. There has been no way to reset it, and it persists through car restarts, system reboots, and driving. The first time this happened was [XXX], and I was able to reset it. However, it has returned a month and a half later ([XXX]) and there has been no remedy or reset that has worked. This issue is extremely dangerous, as it completely mitigates the safety features put in place for this vehicle. With all of the system warnings misfiring and no way to reset or check which are legitimate versus a complication, I am putting myself and others at risk if I drive. I will not know if there is a true issue with a tire, my engine, my brakes... I need my car but am wary of driving it now to keep myself and others safe. It also makes some features inaccessible (i.e., cruise control). I conducted further research prior to taking it to the dealership to better understand the potential cause and what could be done. After conducting that research, it seems this is a VERY common and fairly well-known issue. I have linked one of several forums demonstrating the scope of this issue. Example forum: [XXX] The system misfires are being diagnosed as issues with the fuel injectors, and owners are getting told to replace those fuel injectors to remedy the issue (cost of which equals around $1,400-2,200). Few also report that following installation of new fuel injectors, the issue has come back. Not everyone has ~$2k to fix an issue that is so common it should have already been addressed by Honda. Gear shift button broke and came out of the shifter completely. I can not put the vehicle in gear and I am stranded. I contacted my local dealership and they acted like they have never heard of this being a problem. My vehicle had under 12000 miles and this happens. Of course it is a problem. The components broken brittle parts speak for the cheap plastic used in such a critical area. The cost of the repair shouldn't be a factor for recall. The number of people reporting this problem is a small percent compared to the many who have had the repair when it is clearly a manufacturers defect.
All warning lights turn on intermittently and stay on for an undetermined time. I have taken it to service shops and the dealer multiple times over the last couple of years. Finally, I was able to get into the dealer while all warning lights were on so they could diagnose. I was told it was a fuel injector issue and not covered for repair. Upon researching, there are many reports of this issue and I don't understand why Honda is not being held accountable for this failure. While all warning lights are on, how would I know if there was an actual problem with the car? This could be a dangerous situation.
Car is parked in front of the house no one has touch the vehicle. The car suddenly started the alarm, had to turn it off. Later on during the day I went to turn the vehicle on and it wont turn off after. I had to search for the fuel pump fuse and remove that to turn off the car.

Hi. During the drive. My car's all warning light that include break light and engine light and tire pressure light. And I check everything is find. Then I go to the dealer to fix it. The dealer said everything is fine. The can't do anything. They just clear the code. But the next week, it happened again. I also do research this issue at internet. This issue is not unique in U.S. please help us to let honda to be concerned this issue. thank you.
When exiting car sound is heard that car is locked. Then same sound is heard again seconds later. I have DroneMobile app on phone so I checked status & found car reopened. I have had DroneMobile was installed in 2018 or 2019. It happens all the time as far as I can tell. The 2nd fob is in my house & not near car. Hard to know if anything will be secure in car or safe to enter. Could this have happened after car software update?
I own a 2017 Honda CRV and my complaint is various warning lights such as the brake system, lane departure, ACC & forward collision warning illuminated on the dash with the dashboard. There are MANY other Honda consumers who have faced/facing similar instances. I have attended to reboot the system three times to clear these messages. A new battery was installed June 2023.
Button fell off from the shifter
Driver’s Seatbelt will not click in place and my vin is not showing a recall. The control screen does not work correctly. It often goes bright and makes a dinging sound or won’t work at all.
While driving when it's raining, the anti-theft alarm goes off, the open door alarm starts beeping, and the low tire warning shows. The instrument cluster sometimes goes completely black, and on one occasion the engine shut off completely. We took the car to a Honda dealer for service and they replaced the battery but that hasn't fixed the issue. Obviously, losing the instrument cluster and power at high speeds is dangerous. This issue has occurred at least six times over the past year.
My Honda 2017 CRV, EX AWD Touring was serviced for oil change, transmission fluid change and complementary 20-point check on August 8, 2023 by Honda Dealer. Unintended sudden acceleration caused accident at a speed of less than 5 miles while parking the car in empty library parking lot Oct 22, 2023 collision summary: As I was parking the car I turned into an empty parking spot with a speed of about 3 to 4 miles. A Sudden burst of unintended acceleration as I turned to park caused high speed and my car hit a car parked on the opposite side, not in front but adjacent parking spot. This sudden unintended burst of acceleration so quick and forceful that as my car hit the car on the front bumper of parked car. The collision deployed the airbag. I was shaken and traumatized momentarily. I avoided bigger collision and managed to stop the car some 15 ft ahead in the empty space. The door opened only halfway due to damage on front side near drivers door. There was smoke inside the car that scared me. I was shaken and managed to come out safely. I went inside the library and called my daughter. My daughter called 911 to report about the accident to the police. The police and medical emergency came within 15 minutes. I told them that I am alright and no injuries of any type occurred. The policeman was also surprised by this unusual collision in an empty parking lot. After going over the accident he told me that he will not give me a ticket for this incidence. I provided detailed information of patrolman (name, phone number, email) to Jasmine in Honda headquarter office in Torrence CA. I reported issues of my 2017 Honda to Honda Dealer and Honda Office in Torrence, CA on June 27, 2019. No action was taken than. It must be investigated. My car has done only about 25,000 miles, serviced by Honda Dealer, I have a clean driving record since last 25 years. I am scared to drive after the sudden acceleration incident. I am asking Honda to give a replacement car and compensation.
On 8/25/23 around 6:45am, I was exiting the gas station parking lot going around 15mph, and the car slammed on the brakes. The abs engaged itself even though there was nothing in front or around me. I knew I didn't step on the wrong pedal, because the abs indicator that says "brake" came on and this only comes on when the abs senses something in front of the car. All the stuff on my seat flew on to the floor. This happened once before a few years ago. A few times in the last few years, the car has been glitchy and "brightness" starts blinking uncontrollably on the screen. Sometimes if I shut off the car for a few minutes it will resolve but sometimes not. We purchased the car new and have been the only drivers.
The screen in the middle goes haywire beeping and jumping from screen to screen. I am not sure if it is affecting any other electronic componets but it very well could be.
A/C Compressor Shaft Seal leaking and Honda Dealer - Norm Reeves Honda North Richland Hills in Texas is not able to vacuum the remaining refrigerant out of the Honda CRV 2017 which has only 58k miles. Their new equipment says there is a contaminant on the ac system and refuses to complete the warranty repair. They even mentioned that to complete the Shaft Seal repair, they do not need to remove the compressor. This should be a recall of the AC compressor instead of a warranty extension on the seal. Here in Texas, it's 109 deg F temperature and in the car, it gets up to 119 to 125 deg F temperature during the summer months. This is a major safety issue. Honda will only reimburse for the repair if it's taken to a Honda dealership but the dealership does not have the tools to vacuum out the contaminants. Additionally, the dealership thinks the discharge hose needs to be replaced as well. Due to the centrifugal force of the compressor when it spins, the leaking freon from the Shaft Seal with dye has spun around 360 deg and spread the dye all around it. This has caused the dealership to force the car owners to replace the discharge hose for an outrageous cost of $700+. Currently, the Honda parts website shows the compressor has been discontinued. Please take action with Honda on a full recall of faulty compressors. Many Honda owners with CRV 2017-2021 are seeing multiple issues pointed out during this Warranty claim of A/C Compressor Shaft Seal Leak.
Was about to go to work earlier today, when my husband tried to push reverse button, shifter button was not in place.. Was later found it in the console area and looks like it just broke and fell without any warning. This is scary. What happens if the car was in motion at that time and you need to change gear or reverse?
While driving on I-95 near Colonial Heights, VA we heard a loud BOOM - thought it was a tire although I continued to maintain control of car. Saw in rearview mirror, a small shingle-size piece of material fly off top of our 2017 Honda CRV, toward car behind us. Stopped & saw that our sunroof had literally BLOWN APART. The "shingle-size" material was the middle of our sunroof blowing off. Fortunately we had just closed our interior sunshade & fortunately the car behind us did not look to be affected by the airborne sunroof material. There was no truck in front of us (no flying debris from another car) & nothing fell on the top of the car! Had we not had the sunshade closed, 1000's of pieces of glass would've rained down on us, possibly causing me to lose control of the vehicle & quite certainly causing an accident w/those around me. Fortunately we were 1.5 miles from an exit & a Honda dealership (!) that assisted us in attaching Crash Wrap to the top of the car so we could continue on our way home to FL - but not without stopping 4 add'l times & also using packing tape to keep the crash tape on the car (due to rain). Broken glass continued to "rain" down onto the sunshade for the next 700 miles - we also feared the crash tape would come off and whip back at another vehicle. I've documented incident w/pictures, contacted my Insurance Company, American Honda Corp, Holler Honda (local dealer) & am scheduled to have the sunroof replaced in the next week. Am. Honda Corp customer svc was unaware of any "exploding sunroof issues", nor was my local Honda dealer. However, the Svc Advisor @ Honda in VA had actually seen 3 exploded sunroofs since May! After some investigation on my part, I found an active court case of Honda/Acura owners who have also experienced exploding sunroofs. There was absolutely NO warning that predicated this incident. This incident could've had a vastly different outcome had my interior shade remained open.
Environmental safety issue: Honda recently extended the warranty on its air conditioning systems due to a known issue of faulty compressor seals. This should be a recall. Many thousands of vehicles (mine included) have been venting their refrigerant into the atmosphere. Even more will do so in the future.
Honda CR-V head unit or central console refuses to dim. This is a serious safety threat as display is glaringly bright and distorts night vision. I did take the vehicle to dealership for inspection and recommendation was to replace the head unit as they think this is a hardware issue. Professionally, I am a software engineer and I find it very hard to accept that this is a hardware issue. The hardware otherwise works perfectly with no defect. Judging by my experience this looks like software is overriding user inputs. Internet forums are full of similar reports by many users. As this can be a serious safety issue, I request you to look into this issue.
The Body Control Module has internal failure. The lights, alarms, locks and dashboard, when not running and locked up in garage, spontaneously come on. When driving vehicle warning lights flash about problems that don't exist. Apparently, the CRV should not be driven with this problem, as it can cause automatic stops, lane changes and other safety issues. This has been a recall in numerous other Honda CRV's, however American Honda refuses to recall 2017's. I believe there are 2 reasons for this; the part is on a National Back Order and the cost to repair is $800. There are many reports of others having the same issues with their 2017 CRV's, I hope we don't have to wait until something serious happens before you have Honda recall the 2017 for failed Body Control Module- the brain of the car. I leased and then purchased this CRV, it has been well taken care of by the local Honda dealer. It was a case manager at Honda who suggested I contact you, as you can do recalls. I have the Paperwork and info and will be happy to email it to you if you need it. Thank you.
AC went out, system charged, went out while driving. 100 degrees outside and car only blows hot air. Not safe for anyone to be in it for prolonged periods of time
The airconditioning system has quit working. The item has not been inspected by a dealer or mechanic.
I was idling and all the warning lights came on. Car seemed driveable, but we replaced the battery as it was still the OEM battery. This did not fix the issue and all safety features are disengaged.
I have 2017 Honda CRV, approximately 65,000 miles, the issue is warning lights keep showing all the messages possible in the dashboard. Tried to reset or reboot, it temporarily disappear then come back again. Brought to the authorized Honda dealership, on their diagnostic, Honda said it is Fuel Injector issue, which is hard to believed for that amount millage, the other issue is the cost to replace 4 fuel injectors of at least $1400. Search in internet that this is common problem to CRV, and also other model. The issue should be recall by Honda since this is happening to most CRV models, I'm just disappointed that when you heard that Honda is a reliable car manufacturer, and cannot fixed multiple warning lights problem, and Honda said it is fuel injector problem, which you think is a software problem is just concerning to other new buyers, I wish new buyers would see this complaints, so they don't have the same problem we are dealing now.
The radio/head unit screen suddenly dimmed to the lowest level while driving making the screen unreadable. The screen shows radio details, Google Maps, Phone and many climate control functions. Access to the screen is needed while driving in order to change climate control settings, etc. Pressing the brightness buttons did nothing and so I had to pull over. The only way to address the issue was the restart the car. This is a known safety issue with this model year CRV and Honda won't repair (update the software) without payment. As a safety defect this should be covered under warranty or recall.
In May of 2022, my CRV showed many warning messages for nearly every system in the vehicle including emissions, brakes, power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and several others. A friend had the same thing happen except he was traveling at 70mph and experienced a very serious, life-changing car crash. I had my vehicle towed to Honda dealer and was told there was a misfire on cylinder 3 (PO303) and that cylinder 1 looked worn as well. They replaced spark plugs on those cylinders (though I requested they do all 4 at once) and the A/C unit. Apparently this is a "known problem" to Honda but I was never told things to watch for, or to bring the vehicle in for service, until it was inoperable. The dealership gave me a copy of Service Bulletin 19-032 by Honda-- dated June 18, 2019 and said the "good news" was they would extend my warranty for an additional year. If there were another issue, I would not be on the hook for repairs. Only 6 months later, all of the same warning lights came on again-- this time as I was driving my 3-year-old to daycare. I pulled over and again had the vehicle towed. The dealer reports the same diagnostic codes and issues, but this time says their repair flow chart indicates the next step is a $1500 fuel injector replacement. Somehow, despite being distinctly related, it is not covered by the extended warranty. To my understanding, fuel injectors do not generally need replacing in my area before about 100,000 miles. My vehicle has 70,000 miles on it. My question is, what if this costly repair works for 6 months & then I have the same systems malfunctioning again? What's next on the flow chart & how much will that cost? Most importantly, what if I'm driving at 70mph with my toddler in the back seat when the brake systems go out?? Honda knows this is a serious problem & should have responded more meaningfully years ago. I've loved my CRV but can no longer drive it with confidence.
When pressing with my thumb the button to shift to reverse, the button popped out. Upon examining the button, the end was broken off. With much effort, my husband was able to press it in enough to get it in reverse and then forward. He had to leave the car running when he bought the parts at Honda to fix it. He then brought the parts to a local mechanic and he was able to fix it. The mechanic told him that many tiny pieces had to be cleaned out of the section where the button belongs.
Shift button knob broke on April 20- 2022 Location of the vehicle was out of the USA. Local Honda dealer was notified about the recall and ordered the parts, the replacement of the knob was done May May 10- 2022. I payed for the repair and Honda corporation denied a reimbursement.
The shift button broke off and became unusable. Driver was able to temporarily reattach the button, but the button’s plastic broke, making it impossible to reattach.
The push button on the shifter broke and fell out. The plastic piece is broken but luckily if we hold it in, it still shifts for now.
air conditioning temperature does not work. no matter what degree, the hot air stays the same, including the lowest degree on the air conditioner register "low". There are no warning lights displayed and there are no leaks detected. I am seeing many other complaints like this and mentions of recalls, but I cannot find a recall notification anywhere. I have less than 26,000 miles on my 2017 car.
Parasitic battery draw. I’m being told this is what is causing my repeated issues, I’ve had the car for 3 years and have replaced the battery 4 times. All warning lights keep cycling despite consistently having it looked at for diagnosing. Today the car would barely move- it powered on just fine, but despite depressing the gas pedal- it would barely move more than 5 miles per hour causing severe risk in the road
I started my car and shifted into reverse. The silver part of the gear shift popped of and fell into the foot well. I was able to pick it up and hold it in place and shift the car but it is clearly not safe.
The gear shift button popped off while the car was in drive. The plastic broke, making it impossible to reattach. In order to switch the gear, I had to reach into the gear shift with my finger to manually press down where the button was. It would have been impossible to quickly shift my gear if I had needed.
2017 Honda CR-V. Driving and when arrived to destination went to put car into park and the shifter button was missing. Found it on the floor of the vehicle. The plastic on the button that is inserted had broken. Had trouble getting car into park. Did feel safe to drive. Called dealership they said there was a recall with a range of vin #'s, but my vehicle wasn't in that range. Very bizarre that it happened. Obviously, a defective part and Honda should cover it. Important piece to have just broken like it did.
April 23, 2022 my son was driving my vehicle in the downtown city. He found a place to parallel park and placed the gear shifter in reverse when he was done he went to place the gear shifter in park, but there was no button on the gear shifter to press in and after I freaked out, my son found the plastic piece on the floor. After many tries, he was finally able to put the knob on the gear shifter to place the vehicle in park. My question, why is that particular part made in plastic? The part that actually attaches to the gear shifter should be out of steel and the button part that is actually touched daily can be made out of plastic. Just a suggestion.
In an incident dated March 28, 2022 a Woodbury, MN, driver attempted to shift from “Park” to “Reverse” to back out of the garage into the driveway, only to look down and find the shift button missing. They searched for the button and found it on the console, having fallen off while in “Reverse.” At the very least, this is an inconvenience. At the very worst, this affects the driver’s control over the car, and it may be disastrous in any situation in which they need to shift into or out of “Reverse” or "Park" very quickly.
I have 24557 miles on my honda 2017 the a/c does not work
I was driving north on I-75 at about 70 mph. The car suddenly braked for a brief moment. It was sudden but only for a brief second. It felt like a lurch maybe? I'm not sure what it was. First time I've ever experienced anything like it but it was a little frightening. I've got 50K miles on it. 2017 Honda CRV. Right before that happened the "Auto High-beam Problem" message came up on the dash, although it was daylight and my headlights were in the off position. Should I keep driving it?
Automatic system brakes even when no car or object is in front. Brakes for no reason Also the display screen goes berserk and goes completely black and car has to be restarted for screen to work
My 2017 Honda CR-V Gear Shifter Button popped out and fell apart. Luckily my car was not in motion on a busy freeway when this occurred otherwise it would have been very dangerous for my life and could have caused an accident. I see lots of reports of broken 2017 Honda CR-V Shifter Button on the internet so this is a well known problem that Honda must be made to fix for the poor quality product part that they have installed in their 2017 Honda CR-V car. While driving my 2017 Honda CR-V I was shifting from park to drive & the button on the shift knob broke off & I couldn’t put it back in park. This is a serious safety issue with many complaints. Very disappointed there is not a recall on this issue yet.
Pulled out of a parking spot, and after shifting into drive, I heard a pop. Then when I got home, and pulled into the garage to park, realized the shift button was missing and that I couldn't get the car into park. After much finagling, I was able to get into park. We then found the button that had broken off on the floor. With this button broken off the car is inoperable due to not being able to shift the gears. This is a problem that has been reported before on this vehicle and some of the vehicles have been recalled for this problem. I called the dealership and was told my vehicle was not part of that recall, but they were aware of this problem.
When the vehicle is not driven for a few days, battery is dead. There is a parasitic drain going on with the battery and Honda is not addressing this problem. This has happened numerous times. The battery has been replaced twice but problem still exists. Dealer cannot fix this issue. Have read reports of vehicle stopping while people are driving it because the battery dies.
My 2017 Honda CRV was just little over 25k millage and A/C stop working, only blow hot air. It was very dangerous to drive during heavy rain condition in summer. It is a very serious safety matter and it should be a recall for a fixing. I don't understand why Honda ignored so many complaints and not fixing it. It is completely ruin its reputation all over the years they have developed in USA.
As I was driving out of town, my A/c stopped working. It was over 80 degrees outside but we were able to roll down windows. However, it became a real safety issue when it rained and I was on a major interstate in another state. My windows fogged up and I couldn’t get it to clear because there was no A/C. My repair shop says compressor is bad. It appears to be a relatively common problem.
On multiple occasions, the audio/information display screen has gone completely blank or black. It worked in the back up mode where I could see behind my car, but would not display any controls, climate, audio, phone etc. The screen was completely black. After turning on/off no change. After leaving the car off overnight, it worked the next day. Again this happened at least 3 times over the past year.
Air conditioning system broke just over 3 years after purchase. Just outside dealer warranty period. I believe it is the AC compressor. From what I'm reading online, this is a very common issue for the CRV models in the years 2017-2020 and should be subject to a recall. No warning signs before it went down.
The air conditioner wasn't cooling. We tested and found the driver's side was only blowing 68 degrees and the passenger side was 55 degrees at the lowest setting. I took it to the dealer and they found a leak in the discharge hose. Please see the attached fix and invoice. I believe these suvs should be re-called and that I should be reimbursed the $100 deductible I had to pay for it to be fixed. Thanks!
Dear NTHSA, Since last fall/winter my 2017 Honda CRV air conditioning system makes noise and has stopped cooling when its hot outside. This is a relatively new car with low mileage (24,000). I am taking it to my local dealer www.pierceyhonda.com for diagnosis. During a routine drive, I heard what sounded like a piece of plastic fall into my cup holder area. I glanced into the cup holders and surrounding center console area, but did not observe anything that may have fallen into it. The vehicle continued to operate as normal so I continued to my destination. When I arrived, I went to put my vehicle in park, but then noticed that my gear shifter actuation button was missing. I was only able to get the vehicle into neutral, but not park or reverse. I looked down on the drivers side floor, but did not see the missing actuation button. My next thought was to get out of my seat and look for it under my seat. When I took my foot off of the brake pedal, the vehicle started to roll because I was on a slight grade and still in neutral. I then set the parking brake to hold the vehicle while I searched for the missing button. I finally found the button and the spring that goes with it laying on the drivers side floor almost under the seat. I observed the actuator and could see where it was actually broke, but I was still able to insert it back into the gear shifter handle and put the car into park and shut it off. To get home later, I had to wrap some electrical tape around the button so that it would not fall out again. When I got home, I could not turn my car off after parking because the electrical tape was preventing the actuation button from fully disengaging. I later removed the tape and covered the entire shifter knob with a small sock to hold the actuation button in. Currently looking into recalls and repairs.

SO, I EXITED THE FREEWAY AGAIN. WE CALLED SERVICE DEALER IN BAKERSFIELD AND BASED ON OUR REPORT HE SAID THE COMPUTER MAY NOT BE TALKING WITH OTHER PARTS. HE ASKED US TO BRING IT IN. BUT THIS DEALER IS SOME 30 MILES AWAY AND IT'S TOO FAR FROM HOME. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE WARNING LIGHTS WENT AWAY AFTER THE ENGINE HAS COOLED DOWN. SO I WENT BACK TO THE FREEWAY DRIVING SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY UNTIL THERE WAS A SLOWER TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. I TRIED TO OVERTAKE THE TRUCK THEN I FELT LIKE SOMETHING SNAPPED, THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS CAME OUT AND I CAN FEEL THE ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER SO I PARKED ON THE SIDE AND DECIDED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED SINCE IT CAN STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD PUTTING OUR LIVES IN DANGER. I ALSO RECALL THAT IN THE FALL OF 2018 THAT THE OBJECT ALERT TURNED ON A COUPLE OF TIMES DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. MY DAUGHTER ALSO HAS EXPERIENCE THIS WHILE DRIVING BOTH HIGHWAY AND TOWN STREET. MECHANIC FROM HONDA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE SMELL OF GAS IN OIL CAP EVEN WITH INFORMATION I TOLD HIM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM NOTED WITH PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS. PRIOR TO THIS AND MONTHS AGO, WHEN I WAS ROUNDING A CORNER ON THE FREEWAY ALL THE SUDDEN THE BRAKE ASSIST ENGAGED AS IF I WAS TOO CLOSE TO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. IT WAS QUITE A JOLT. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS OCTOBER/NOVEMBER. 2019. THIS EVENING I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AND THE MECHANIC FOUND GAS IN MY OIL; I MENTIONED A GAS ODOR LAST WINTER TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR OIL CHANGE. THEY BASICALLY BLEW IT OFF. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT NOW. IN FACT I EVEN SAVED SOME OF THE OIL THAT CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE TO SHOW MY HUSBAND WHEN HE GETS HOME. I HAVE USED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS THUS FAR BECAUSE OF WORKMANSHIP ISSUES AT THE FIRST DEALERSHIP. NOW DEALERSHIP NUMBER TWO DOES NOT EVEN WANT TO TOUCH MY VEHICLE.

PRIOR OIL CHANGE SERVICE OCCURRED AT 44,475 MILES ON 8/27/2019 AND THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERIFIED AT FULL LINE . FUEL SMELLS HAVE BEEN NOTICED IN THIS VEHICLE SINCE 300 MILES ON ODOMETER. QUICK RESEARCH ON THE WEB POINTED US TO THE PROBLEM MANY HAVE HAD WITH THE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE SHIFTER THAT MUST BE PRESSED TO GET IN AND OUT OF PARK. SURE ENOUGH, WE FOUND THE BUTTON WAS BROKEN INSIDE AND NOT FUNCTIONAL. THE BUTTON AND SPRING FELL OUT AS WE INSPECTED IT. THOUGH WE'RE GRATEFUL IT DIDN'T POP OFF WHILE WE WERE DRIVING, IT SEEMS CLEAR THIS IS A FREQUENT FAILURE THAT CAN CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEMS LIKE THERE SHOULD BE AN OFFICIAL RECALL.

MANY DRIVERS ALSO EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING. THE BUTTON IS CONNECTED TO THE SHIFT GEAR AND IT IS MADE FROM A CHEAP PIECE OF PLASTIC. IT COSTS $85 TO REPLACE AT THE DEALER. NO ONE WAS TOUCHING THE SHIFTER AT THAT TIME. THIS WAS A VERY DISTRACTING EVENT -- I SUDDENLY SAW THE BROKEN BUTTON. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS "GOING ON" DISTRACTED ME FROM LOOKING AT THE ROAD, WITH THE ASSOCIATED RISK OF LOOSING "SITUATIONAL AWARENESS". I WAS FORTUNATE IN THAT I RAPIDLY REFOCUSED ON THE ROAD AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THE PERSON IN THE FRONT-PASSENGER SEAT FIGURED OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I TALKED TO 2 DEALERS AND THEY INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS WITH SEVERAL OTHER CRVS. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AND THE DEALER FEEDBACK, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT IMPACTS MULTIPLE CARS; THE DISTRACTION CREATED WHEN IT HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY CAN RESULT IN SOMEONE GETTING INTO A POTENTIALLY FATAL ACCIDENT IF THIS DEFECT IS NOT PROACTIVELY ADDRESSED. I REPORTED IT TO HONDA AMERICA. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL REPORT IT TO HONDA, BUT MADE NO COMMITMENT TO ADDRESSING IT OR GETTING BACK TO ME ON THEIR DECISION. A PROACTIVE RECALL AND REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

I UNDERSTAND THAT HONDA MOTOR COMPANY , LTD HAS RECALLED 350,000 HONDA CRV'S IN CHINA BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THE COMPANY IS CALLING BACK THOSE CARS TO RESOLVE A PROBLEM CAUSED BY AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF UN-COMBUSTED PETROL COLLECTING IN THE ENGINE'S LUBRICANT OIL PAN. HONDA DEALERSHIPS IN CANADA WITH OIL DILUTION PROBLEMS HAVE ALREADY STARTED REPAIRS OF THEIR 2017 & 2018 HONDA CR-VS AFTER IT WAS CONTACTED BY CANADIAN MOTOR VEHICLE ARBITRATION PLAN (CAMVAP). GIVEN THAT THE PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED, HONDA HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE IN AN OPEN AND TRANSPARENT MANNER. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE VEHICLE STABILITY LIGHTS, THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, COLLISION MITIGATION, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION, AND A BRAKE LIGHTS ALL FLASH STATING THERE IS A PROBLEM. THESE LIGHTS JUST COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES . ONCE IT WAS SNOWING. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR. THE FIRST TIME I CLEARED SOME OF THE 'DRIVING AIDES' AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. I TOOK IT TO HONDA OF JOLIET ON 1/25 AND THEY ALIGNED THE RADAR. THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON 1/28 /19 AND THEY SAID THEY REALIGNED IT AGAIN. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 DAYS. THE ORIGINAL REASON WAS THE SENSORS ARE DIRTY, AND IN BAD WEATHER THIS CAN HAPPEN. THEY SAID A CLUMP OF SNOW COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TOO. SO THIS CAR IS ONLY GOOD IN GOOD WEATHER? THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF CARS IN FOR THIS SAME REASON. ANOTHER PROBLEM WAS I CAME OUT TO FIND MY WINDOWS DOWN, MY SUNROOF OPEN AND MY BACK DOOR OPEN. CAR WAS STATIONARY. DIDN'T TAKE IT IN FOR THIS AND FORGOT TO TELL THEM WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF ON 1/28/19.

ONCE THE GAUGE IS 1/2 WAY UP AND I TURN ON THE HEAT, THE GAUGE DROPS ALL THE WAY DOWN. NO WARM AIR COMES OUT, ALSO EFFECTING THE DEFROSTER. IF I HAVE ICE OR FOG ON MY WINDOWS THE DEFROSTER CAN'T KEEP UP SEVERELY IMPAIRING MY VISION, NOT TO MENTION THAT ALL PASSENGERS IN THE CAR ARE FREEZING THE ENTIRE TIME. THIS MORNING THE TEMPERATURE WAS 9 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH A REAL FEEL OF -10 AND DURING MY 30 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK VIA A HIGHWAY, ALL 4 DOOR WINDOWS WERE FOGGED OVER AND ICE WAS FORMING ON THEM AND THE REAR AND FRONT WINDSHIELD HAVE FOG AND ICE ON ABOUT 50% OF THEM. IF NOT FOR THE SEAT WARMER AND THE BLANKET I WRAPPED MYSELF IN FOR MY CUMMUTE I WOULD HAVE BEEN FROZEN. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME WINTER HAS HAPPENED NOR THE FIRST CAR THAT HONDA HAS CREATED. NO REASON FOR THE HEAT NOT TO WORK.

THE VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA WITH UNSAFE LEVELS OF OIL DILUTION IN THE 1.5 CVT TURBO ENGINE. GAS IS MIXING IN WITH THE OIL, CAUSING OIL LEVELS TO RISE. THE FUMES OF GASOLINE ARE ENTERING INTO THE CABIN SPACE AND MAKING IT UNSAFE TO BREATHE. THE ENGINE IS ALSO HAVING STALLING ISSUES DUE TO GAS MIXING IN WITH THE OIL IN THE ENGINE AREA. THIS ALSO HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ABILITY TO KEEP THE CAR WARM AND PROVIDING ADEQUATE HEAT INTO THE CABIN AREA. THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ENGINE ARE UNSAFE FOR COLD WEATHER CLIMATES SUCH AS THE NORTHEAST. THE CAR CAN NOT WARM UP THE ENGINE SUFFICIENTLY AT IDLE AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BLOW ANY HOT AIR INTO THE CABIN AREA. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THE CAR NEEDS TO BE OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES TO GAIN SUFFICIENT ENGINE WARMTH. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, AS MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN, AND WE MAKE SHORT TRIPS BACK AND FORTH. HE TEMPORARILY ENABLED VEHICLE INTO PARK AFTER WHICH VEHICLE ALTHOUGH IN PARK NEVER FULLY TURNED OFF. DUE TO CHRISTMAS COULD NOT GET TO DEALER TIL TODAY. BATTERY DEAD. CHARGED, TOOK TO DEALER REPLACED WITHOUT COMMENT. AFTER GOOGLING, THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. I BELIEVE THIS COULD CAUSE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. I PERSONALLY WAS VERY DISTRESSED. THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUE. I DEFINITELY BELIEVE IT SHOULD.

FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT AND PARK THE VEHICLE BY INSERTING MY INDEX FINGER INTO THE SHAFT PORTION WHILE DEPRESSING THE BUTTON INSIDE THE BROKEN PORTION. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY DEALER AND ADDRESSED THE ISSUE WITH PARAGON HONDA AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP OR HAVE IT TOWED. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AFTER WORK IN THE EVENING, AND THE REPAIR SHOP DID NOT GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE TIME OF REPAIR WHEN REQUEST NEITHER DID THEY PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER VEHICLE AS STIPULATED IN THE CONTRACT SIGNED WITH THE DEALER WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2018. THE SHIFT SELECTOR BUTTON FAILED YESTERDAY ON OUR 2017 CRV. DUE TO THE DESIGN BEING SPRING LOADED, THE BROKEN PART FLEW OUT OF THE SHIFT SELECTOR AND WAS LOST TEMPORARILY. LACKING THIS BROKEN PART AND BEING UNABLE TO REINSERT IT PROPERLY INTO THE SELECTOR, THE VEHICLE CAN'T BE MOVED INTO PARK AND THUS BY HONDA DESIGN CAN'T BE TURNED OFF. THIS IS BOTH A FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD THAT IS WELL KNOWN TO HONDA (THEY USED THE POOR DESIGN ON EARLIER ACCORD AND OTHER MODELS). WHEN SPEAKING WITH HONDA SERVICE AND PART DEPARTMENT AGENTS, THEY READILY ACKNOWLEDGE THE DESIGN FLAW, ARE DISAPPOINTED HONDA CONTINUED TO USE THE HAZARDOUS DESIGN (IT WAS A SAME PROBLEM IN EARLIER MODELS). HONDA'S RESPONSE SEEMS TO BE TO LET THE SELECTOR BUTTONS FAIL, KEEP A PLENTIFUL SUPPLY OF REPLACEMENTS ON HAND IN THEIR PARTS DEPARTMENTS AND LET THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABSORB THE RISKS. NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED 6 MONTHS LATER, THE CAR WAS NOT TURNED ON FOR 1 DAY. BATTERY TESTED FINE AND THE DEALER SAID THERE IS NO PARISITIC DRAW OR ANY OTHER PROBLEM. WITH MY PERSISTENCE, DEALER DID A SYSTEM UPDATE. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN THE FIRST YEAR OF HAVING A CAR. PLENTY OF 2017 CRV OWNERS ARE SAYING THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM. AFTER ENTERING THE HEAVILY TRAFFICKED FILTER LANE I CLEARED AND ENTERED THE SECOND FREEWAY LANE, MAKING 65MPH TO MATCH TRAFFIC. NOBODY WAS TURNING INTO MY LANE. MY LANE (SECOND FROM RIGHT) WAS CLEAR AN ESTIMATED 7 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF MY CAR, BUT LANES AROUND ME WERE HEAVILY TRAVELLED DUE TO SEVERAL EXITS IN A SHORT DISTANCE. AFTER PASSING THE CHAIN BRIDGE EXIT, BEFORE ENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL, I WAS JERKED FORWARD INTO THE SHOULDER RESTRAINT AS THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED: THE 'BRAKE' INDICATOR SHOWING ON THE DASH. I LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTED A SUV HEAVILY BRAKING TO AVOID IMPACT. I HIT THE ACCELERATOR HARD TO INCREASE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN IT AND ME, MAKING THE BRAKES DISENGAGE. SPECULATION: THIS MODEL FREQUENTLY LOCKS ONTO CARS LEAVING MY LANE AHEAD OF MY COURSE OF TRAVEL AND HEAVILY DEACCELERATES AS THEY SLOW TO EXIT SPEED. MANY CARS WERE JOCKEYING TO EXIT IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT. MY SUSPICION IS THE ACTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS TRAKING SOME CAR IN THE RIGHT FILTER LANE AND APPLIED BRAKES TO MATCH THEIR EXIT SPEED, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 20MPH.

AFTER OTHER REPS EXAMINED THE DAMAGE, THEY CONCURRED IT LOOKED LIKE IT HAD EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE/OUT SINCE SOME REMAINING GLASS WAS PROTRUDING UPWARD. I USE REMOTE START ALMOST EVERYDAY DURING THE WINTER, I LET THE CAR RUN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND WHEN I GET INSIDE, IT'S STILL COLD AS IF IT HASN'T BEEN RUNNING. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD SON AND HE CAN'T BE CONSTANTLY MOVED FROM A WARM INTO A COLD ENVIRONMENT. THE COLLISSION MITIGATION SYSTEM ON HONDA MALFUNCTIONED AND MESSED WITH THE BRAKING, AS A RESULT THE BRAKES FAILED AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. NOW MY QUESTION IS WHAT WILL HONDA DO IN THIS CASE. I AM ALSO WORRIED NOW FOR FUTURE, TODAY I WAS DRIVING AT 10-15 MPH IN A SMALL STREET AND WAS ALONE IN THE CAR. WHAT IF MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR AND THIS HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY AT 70-75 MPH. TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT THE SPEED LIMIT THE CAR SUDDENLY BRAKED. ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS WERE ACTIVATED AT THIS TIME. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT, BEHIND OR BESIDE. THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO MY DEALER. I DID SO THE FOLLOWING DAY. (THIS HAPPENED ON A WEEKEND) THEY INDICATED THERE WAS A "BULLETIN" OUT ON THIS PROBLEM. THEY DOWNLOADED NEW SOFTWARE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. NOW MY CONCERN. BULLETINS ARE ONLY ACTED UPON WHEN AN OWNER COMPLAINS. THE ISSUE I OUTLINED ABOVE WARRANTS SURELY QUALIFIES FOR MORE THAN A BULLETIN. AT THE SAME TIME.AT THE DEALER I LEARNED OF ANOTHER PROBLEM...A RECALL FOR A GAS LINE ISSUE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO INFORM THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WHEN A RECALL IS MADE. I WAS NOT INFORMED. I ACCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT.AT THE DEALER , CONSUMER GIVES PERMISSION TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER WITH THE HONDA CORP *VA *JS

THE ADVANCED SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT RELY ON RADAR (AUTO BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE, ETC) ARE UNUSABLE IN VERY LIGHT SNOW. THERE WAS BARELY ANYTHING ON THE SENSOR COVER, YET THESE IMPORTANT SYSTEMS STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY. WIPING THE SENSOR WOULD RESTORE FUNCTION, BUT ONLY FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, AT BOTH LOW SPEEDS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED THE RECENT SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS. FAULTY WINDSHIELD GLASS. MY VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE WEAK OEM WINDSHIELD. WHEN I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE DEFROST A SLIGHT CRACK APPEARED WHICH CONTINUED ON TO SPREAD ALONG THE BOTTOM, NEAR THE DEFROSTER. A GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2017 WINDSHIELD CRACKING FOR A MYRIAD OF REASONS THAT DON'T HAVE TO DO WITH AN ACCIDENT. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED REFUSES TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD UNLESS I PAY OVER A $1000. NOW, IN ORDER TO AVOID MY INSURANCE GOING UP, I WILL HAVE TO PAY OVER $500 TO SAFELITE TO REPLACE IT. AGAIN THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE.
DURING A RECENT WET SNOW FALL - THE "RADAR" SENSORS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON - THIS IS A BIG DISTRACTION - THE WET SNOW HAD ACCUMULATED ON THE FRONT SENSOR OF THE CAR - WHY DONT THESE SENSORS HAVE A HEATER TO KEEP THEM DE-ICED LIKE AIRPLANE WINGS.

THE "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM PROBLEM" LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CAR HAS ONLY 3600 MILES ON IT. THE TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED, BUT THE PROBLEM OCCURS REPEATEDLY AFTER ONLY ABOUT TEN MINUTES OF DRIVING. RECALIBRATION OF THE TPMS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE CAR DEALERSHIP OFFERS NO SOLUTIONS. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR ABOUT A WEEK.

INTERMITTENTLY THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND SEAT BELT WARNING FOR FRONT PASSENGER FAILS TO OPERATE FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME. THE ERROR HAS SELF CORRECTED SPONTANEOUSLY AFTER 20 MINUTES AND UP TO AN HOUR AND A HALF OF DRIVING. THIS HAS ALWAYS OCCURRED WITH AN ADULT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE HONDA DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ERROR, BUT HAS SEEN OUR PHOTO AND VIDEO SHOWING THE PROBLEM. HONDA USA OPENED AND CLOSED THE CASE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT REPRODUCIBLE AT OUR DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD THAT VIDEO CANNOT BE USED AS PROOF. (PHOTOS AND VIDEO ARE ON OUR PHONE. MY CAR DOES NOT GIVE ANY AUDIO ALERT WHEN I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND HAVE IT IN GEAR. MY CAR ROLLED AWAY FROM PARKING SPOT AND HIT ANOTHER CAR WHEN I WAS NOT IN IT. PER AGAIN, A TRADITIONAL KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS IN 'PARK.' FMVSS 114 IS QUITE CLEAR ON THIS POINT: SINCE 1992, THE STANDARD HAS REQUIRED VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS THAT HAVE A PARK POSITION TO HAVE A KEY-LOCKING SYSTEM THAT PREVENTED REMOVAL OF THE KEY UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED IN PARK OR BECAME LOCKED IN PARK AS THE DIRECT RESULT OF REMOVING THE KEY. THIS IS A PUSH START AND IT DOES NOT BEEP OR ANYTHING LETTING ME KNOW IT IS NOT IN PARK. THE GEAR SHIFTIER DOES NOT SHOW WHAT GEAR IT IS IN. NHTSA IS PURPORTING TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS WITH A NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING, PUBLISHED IN DECEMBER 2011, WITH A NEW RELIANCE ON AUDIBLE WARNINGS, BASED ON THOSE ALREADY REQUIRED IN FMVSS 403 (WHEELCHAIR LIFTS). THE AGENCY OFFERED NO HUMAN FACTORS RESEARCH TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THESE WARNINGS WOULD BE EFFECTIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN IN THE DECEMBER 2011 REGARDING CARS HAVING THE AUDIO ABLE WARNING TO LET DRIVERS KNOW. NO SCRATCHES ON THE CAR, NO ITEMS WERE STOLEN. DID NOT FIND ANY ROCKS OR STONES IN THE CAR WHERE IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE VANDALISM. SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS MAYBE A WINDOW DEFECT SIMILAR TO THE OTHER POST REGARDING HIS SUN-ROOF.
FREQUENT NOXIOUS GAS FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IDLE, OR STARTING, THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE CABIN. THIS ISSUE BEGAN A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (FEBRUARY 3) AND HAS HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY ON MAY 28. THE INCIDENT ON MAY 28 WAS SO TOXIC THAT I DEVELOPED A HEADACHE AND HAD TO OPEN ALL WINDOWS TO TRY TO RELIEVE THE ISSUE.

CAR PARKED AT STORE. PLACED 6 YR OLD CHILD INTO CAR TO UNLOAD CART WITHOUT FEAR OF PARKING LOT DRIVERS. TRUNK OPEN AT THAT POINT. CHILD ASKED FOR A/C (94F OUTSIDE - HOTTER IN CAR). WITH THE REMOTE, I PERFORMED "REMOTE START" SEQUENCE. THIS DID NOT WORK WITH TRUNK OPEN. I CLOSED TRUNK, PERFORMED START SEQUENCE, RE-OPENED TRUNK TO LOAD GROCERIES. AFTER DONE, I CLOSED TRUNK, MOVED CART TO FRONT OF CAR. MEANWHILE, INSIDE CAR, MY CHILD HIT THE START BUTTON. THIS PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO AUXILIARY POWER MODE (THINK RADIO ON WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING). HAZARD TO LIFE: ONCE CAR IS IN AUXILIARY MODE, IF THE DOORS ARE LOCKED, THE CAR CANNOT BE OPENED IN ANY WAY FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE KEY REMOTE WILL NOT WORK OPEN CAR (CAR WILL BEEP ONLY ONCE EACH TIME). TOUCHING HANDLE TO UNLOCK DOES NOT WORK (AGAIN ONE BEEP). THE TRUNK CANNOT BE OPENED WITH REMOTE, WITH THE HANDS-FREE FEATURE, OR WITH THE NORMAL "OPEN BUTTONS" ON TRUNK. CHILD WAS LOCKED IN A HOT CAR WITH NO WAY TO GET TO HER!! CHILD COULD NOT OPEN WINDOWS BY HERSELF (DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULDN'T WORK DUE TO AUXILIARY MODE OR IF SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW). ULTIMATELY I WAS ABLE TO TALK HER THROUGH MANUALLY UNLOCKING DOOR, BUT IF SHE WAS EXPERIENCING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY OR DID NOT HAVE THE INTELLECT, THIS COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD ENDING. I HAVE THE TOP OF THE LINE MODEL, WITH ALL THE OPTIONAL SAFETY FEATURES (MIRRORS, SENSORS, EVERYTHING), YET SOMETHING LIKE THIS STILL HAPPENED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A FAIL SAFE! HOW MANY CHILDREN COULD CLIMB INTO THE CAR AND INADVERTENTLY LOCK THE DOORS WHILE "PLAY DRIVING" BY HITTING THE START BUTTON, PLACING CAR INTO AUXILIARY AND PARENTS CANNOT GET IN TO THEM! OMG HONDA - PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.

COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING WHEN DRIVING OVER METAL PLATES: DURING CONSTRUCTION, METAL PLATES WERE PUT ON THE ROAD WHERE I WORK. THEY DO NOT STICK OUT, AREA FLUSH WITH THE STREET, AND ARE ABOUT 4 FEET WIDE. EVERY TIME I GET CLOSE TO DRIVE STRAIGHT OVER THEM (AT PROBABLY 20-25 MPH), MY CAR SLAMS ONTO THE BRAKES AND COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. IF ANYBODY WERE BEHIND ME, THEY WOULD REAR-END ME. A COLLEAGUE OF MINE BOUGHT THE SAME CAR AND HAS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD MY CAR CHECKED OUT AT A HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. THE SYSTEM CANNOT BE TURNED OFF PERMANENTLY, SO I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF MANUALLY EVERY TIME I START THE CAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS SOMEBODY WILL GET HURT SOON IF SOMEBODY IS BEHIND ME AND THERE IS NO REASON I WOULD COME TO SUCH AN ABRUPT STOP.

TEST DROVE THE CAR AND DIDN'T SMELL DUE TO USING A/C. ON DAY OF PURCHASE, I CHANGED THE AIR TO RECIRCULATE IN CABIN. THAT IS WHEN THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE STARTED SMELLING LIKE GAS WITH RECIRCULATING AIR ON. IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES I DID NOT NOTICE THE SMELL AND ASSUMED IT WAS THE "BRAND NEW" CAR SMELL BUT LATER AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SMELL BECAME VERY NOTICEABLE AND CAUSED ME TO FEEL DIZZY AND ALMOST VOMIT. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE CAR TO SEE WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM AND NOTICED THE SMELL WAS MAINLY IN THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER AREA, WHERE MY 3 MONTH OLD CHILD AND WIFE WERE SITTING! I OPENED ALL THE DOORS AND FOR SOME REASON CHANGED AIR VENT FROM RECIRCULATING TO FRESH AIR MODE. WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND CALLED SALESMAN BUT HE COULD NOT HELP ME WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TELLING ME TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING. I HAD WORK IN THE MORNING SO I DECIDED TO JUST BEAR WITH IT AND OPEN THE WINDOWS IF THE SMELL BECAME TOO UNBEARABLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES, THE SMELL STARTED TO SLOWLY FADE AWAY. I HAVE YET TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND WILL SEE IF THE GAS SMELL COMES BACK WITH THE RECIRCULATING MODE ON. ALSO, THE SMELL WAS NOT NOTICEABLE WITH ENGINE OFF, SINCE THE AIR VENTS WERE ALSO OFF.
