Blown head gasket leaked coolant in to cylinder. all warning alarms started rotating across dash, while all driver assist technology was also disabled. car then lost ability to accelerate, but kept running, and we were able to drive about one mile home at about 10mph. We towed car to Honda (it was always maintained by a honda dealership). Honda dealership confirmed blown gasket and replaced gasket and then injectors for $7,600 total repair bill. We did not see or receive the replaced parts. We have since learned that Honda is well aware of this particular design fault of their 1.5 engines from 2016 thru 2023 years. Even independent mechanics know of the trouble, as well as any internet search. we were totally unaware til now!
Three times in the past week, I have found the front and rear windows all the way down. I contacted the dealer and was told it's a cooling feature. Then when I told them it's winter rime, I was told that if you tap the remote three times it makes all the windows go down. I have never tapped my remote three times
After my last oil change on October 29, 2025, I began noticing a persistent gasoline smell outside the car. Concerned, I took the vehicle to Prince Honda Tifton and explained the issue in detail. They inspected it but reported no leaks and said everything looked fine. However, the odor continued. Starting December 1, 2025, I began smelling gasoline inside the car, with a particularly strong odor when starting the engine. I believe this poses a serious health risk and a potential fire hazard while driving.
I was driving on the freeway when my sunroof exploded spontaneouly. It was not hit by anything nor was the weather unusually cold for the location. If I had the sunroof screen open, I would have been hit by shattering glass while driving 70 mph. I understand this has happened to others who have Hondas and Acuras 2015-2022 and there is a class action lawsuit against Honda.
all warning lights appear (flickering) while driving and also audio display gets completely black and only shows warning sentences Happened 2 times. First time fixed to remove battery. Second time doesn’t work . Still shows signals.
As I pushed the interior button on my vehicle to raise the back hatch, there was a winding noise that occurred & the door went down. I opened the back hatch with the button located near the rear license plate. as the hatch started making the loud winding noise going up, the left side hydraulic lifting mechanism shot through the roof of the car. I have contacted Honda several times & they said this is not a safety hazard. This mechanism could have shot out & impaired someone very easily. Other vehicles of the same have had this happen (please google it) & reported to Honda but they brush it off & close the case. This needs to be investigated to avoid injury to people in the future. Back spoiler was also blown off during the incident.
The engine and cooling system failed. Coolant is leaking into the engine, causing misfires, loss of power, and potentially leading to complete engine failure. The vehicle is currently at Zimbrick Honda in Madison, WI, and the engine is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving in traffic on multiple occasions. Each time, the vehicle slowed down unexpectedly and could not accelerate, creating a risk of being rear-ended, losing control in traffic flow, or becoming stranded in an active traffic lane. This sudden loss of power posed a serious danger to me and other drivers around me. Zimbrick Honda, an authorized Honda dealership, inspected the vehicle and confirmed coolant intrusion into the engine, repeated misfires, and loss of power. Their diagnosis concluded that the engine has failed and must be replaced. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Honda dealership (Zimbrick Honda). American Honda reviewed my goodwill assistance request using the dealership’s diagnosis, but no separate manufacturer inspection was conducted. The vehicle has not been inspected by the police or insurance because no collision occurred. It remains at the dealership and is available for inspection. Before the complete engine failure, the vehicle experienced sudden loss of power, engine hesitation, and misfires. The check engine light appeared during the incidents. The first occurrence happened on August 19th, 2025, at approximately 109,356 miles.
On June 6, 2025 I brought my vehicle(2018 HONDA CRV EX ) to a Honda Dealership due to the vehicle rough idiling. The mechanics said the third solenoid is failing due to coolant being mixed with the engine fluid. Quoted $7496.00 “just to start”. Also stated the radiator would need to be replaced due to this issue and head gasket. Mind you I purchased This vehicle 12 months prior. I took it to a different repair shop for a second opinion but the other mechanic agreed with Honda Dealership regarding repair needs.
Closed the hatch to the CRV and the glass shattered. Looked up on line and there was a voluntary product update campaign requested.
While the adaptive cruise control is on for no reason the car breaks giving risk of being hit from behind. While driving down the road the brake light just comes on to say brake brake and there is no one in front or on the side of us. This has happened multiple times and I have owned the car for 4 years.
Sullivan Tire (Ivory Street) recommended a change in coolant fluid 1/18/25 during a routine oil change. 4/11/25 another routine oil change with a recommendation to change coolant fluid again due to substantial and informed experience but was not done. Then 6/6/25 during a routine oil change said coolant fluid was dirty and got changed for no charge in addition to paying for rear brakes and break fluid serviced. 8/30/25 routine oil change with cabin & engine filter changed. Made the same claim that coolant and break fluid should be serviced, I declined as I knew they were both just done. 9/11/25 have to pull off road and get a tow due to dashboard message, "Stop Driving when safe. Engine Temperature to Hot." Sullivan Tire looked into the issue and found coolant fluid was down, and added more. they also ran it for two hours, did a test run and said everything was fine, with no leaks. 9/27/25 Was traveling on highway when a strange noise was heard, check engine light flashing and acceleration rapidly decreasing. Got off highway pulled over and waited over an hour for a tow. 9/29/25 vehicle was serviced for spark plugs and coils, picked back up that night. 9/30/25 Vehicle had to be towed again with an on again off again message of, "Stop Driving when Safe. Engine Temperature to Hot." waited more than two hours for a tow. 10/1/25 They looked at the vehicle and said they did not know what the issue was and had to call in a technician to help diagnose. 10/2/25 The technician called in discovered it was the head gasket and Sullivan Tire gave an estimate for $4400.00 despite not providing the service. Been with out a vehicle pretty much since 9/27/25. I drive a 2018 Honda CRV EX. I have also seen Law Suits against Honda for the issue described above.
I am writing to report a safety-related defect in my 2018 Honda CRV. My car started smoking, all dashboard lights flashing, slow acceleration. Took it to a Honda repair shop and gave codes for turbo failure. I have googled and see that this make and model has this issue. I know it says VIN specific but all models 2017-2020 I believe have turbo failure. It is very dangerous to drive and unsafe. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this serious safety defect to prevent potential injuries or fatalities. My personal identifiers may be shared with the manufacturer to help facilitate their investigation. I am available to provide any further information required for your investigation. Turbo Charge This abrupt flashing of all dashboard lights and immediate slowing down almost caused me to wreck. The smoking from the tailpipe, I didn't know what was going on. Sons Honda Code p0299 Yes No I have read that some common problems for the 2018 Honda CR-V include engine oil dilution from the 1.5L turbo engine.
Shortly after purchasing car I started getting all the error messages showing after I started the car and they would remain on sometimes it repeatedly happened. I brought it up to dealer several times during and in addition to maintenance and they told me it was not something they could replicate and found no issues. I was told it was the battery but it still happened after battery was replaced. On 07/17/25, with only 137000 miles on the vehicle, the error messages all came on again and the vehicle stalled at a stoplight. It would not shift into gear. Vehicle was towed where they had to replace engine valve cover gasket and the timing chain. The replaced parts listed: RTV gasket, cam chain tensioner, tensioner filter, 2 cam chain tensioner arms, cam chain guide, VTC EX actuator assy, VTC IN actuator assy, flange bolt, cam chain guide B, oil seal, chain, and and new oil. I know this is a known issue with the engine in this model and not an uncommon issue that Honda has refused to admit.
I am submitting this complaint due to repeated and unresolved safety and performance issues. Beginning in mid-2023, the vehicle experienced multiple system-wide failures, including: -All dashboard warning lights illuminating intermittently without cause, sometimes for days. -Sudden failure to accelerate after stopping, including stalling in intersections. -Engine running rich with repeated check engine light activations. On two occasions, the vehicle stalled in the middle of busy intersections, once with my [XXX] child in the car, posing a serious risk to my family and other drivers. The dealership replaced the A/C Control Unit (June 2023) citing it as the cause of the system alerts, but no improvement was seen. The dealership then diagnosed a faulty VSA unit, quoted $2,500, but never ordered the part or followed up. A third-party shop (Mr. Tire) diagnosed a faulty ECM, which the dealership ignored. In September 2023, dealership recommended replacing the fuel injectors, which I paid for out-of-pocket (~$1,000), which resolved the warning lights and stalling. However, ongoing problems persist: The air conditioning system is no longer cooling effectively, despite prior repair. The car also feels underpowered when accelerating or starting, with weak engine revving compared to when the car was new. While no current warning lights appear, the performance is noticeably degraded. In April 2025, the vehicle’s fuel pump was finally replaced under Honda’s service bulletin recall after being on the waiting list for the parts for nearly 1.5 years, but these other concerns remain unresolved. I am submitting this complaint because: The stalling incidents created serious safety hazards in live traffic. The vehicle has experienced repeated systemic failures that align with known issues reported by other 2018 CR-V owners. Despite multiple dealership visits and significant personal expense, the vehicle has not been restored to reliable and safe operating condition. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORM
On [XXX] I was driving my 2018 Honda CR-V on [XXX] near Livingston Montana. I was traveling at about 70 mph with my vehicle's sunroof closed and the inside panel closed, it was a warm day and my AC was on, all windows closed. Suddenly I heard a Bang above my head, I heard particles bouncing off the roof. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw chunks and particles landing in front of a Semi Truck behind me, the truck swerved to avoid the glass and passed me. I slowed down, slightly opened the inside sunroof cover and saw broken glass. Closed the inner cover and I pulled off the Freeway and inspected the damage to the skylight; a large area missing (1/3 of the glass) and glass remnants lifting up toward the sky. It looked as if the skylight glass had exploded outward. The safety part is: 1, If I had the inner skylight cover open, I or my passenger(s) could have been sprayed with glass particles traveling at 70 mph. 2. If a motorcycle or other vehicle was behind me they would have been sprayed with glass chunks and particles. 3. Swerving by the Honda being driven and Swerving by the vehicles following. I have read that other Honda owners have had similar Honda sunroof glass explode when not in use in a class action complaint. My vehicle was in excellent condition with only 43,000 miles at the time. Subject: Fuel Pump Recall Remedy Denied – Ongoing Safety Risk I purchased a used Honda vehicle in December 2024, and shortly after, I learned it was under recall for the fuel pump. In January 2025, I took it to Lia Honda for an oil change and to perform the recall. The dealership refused to do the recall, saying the fuel pump had already been replaced with an aftermarket part by a previous owner. However, the official Honda recall repair was never performed. On June 5, 2025, the car stalled on I-91 while I was accelerating, and all the dashboard lights and alarms came on. I was able to coast to safety. I took the car to AutoZone at 7:28 PM, where a scan confirmed a faulty fuel pump. The car would not start and had to be left at AutoZone temporarily. Later that night, I was able to start it and immediately brought it to Lia Honda, leaving it overnight. On June 6, Lia Honda returned the car to me and claimed the issue was unrelated to the fuel pump, giving me a vague diagnosis involving fuel system cleanliness. Despite the AutoZone scan, the known recall, and the dangerous highway stall, Lia Honda refused to perform the recall or acknowledge the fuel pump as the problem. On June 13, the same issue occurred again while accelerating on I-91, this time with my family in the vehicle. The car stalled dangerously in traffic, again putting all of us at risk. I later contacted Honda Customer Support, and two representatives told me I was eligible for the recall repair. But when Honda USA followed up, I was informed they would not honor the recall or cover the repair, because the part had been replaced with a non-Honda pump by a previous owner. This is unacceptable. The recall remedy was never performed, and the part clearly failed again. Lia Honda’s refusal to acknowledge the fuel pump failure on June 6 prevented me from protecting my family’s safety, leading to a second highway incident that could have resulted in a crash I have all diagnosis and receipts in paper()
Ever since I purchased this car, my air conditioning have had nothing but problems. Even though it was recalled once and was repaired another issue is the Discharge Hose leaking which is preventing my air conditioning from cooling the cabin. This has been an ongoing issue ever since I purchased the car. I have not done any excessive or off road driving which would cause the damage and I believe it is a manufacturer defect on Honda. I have attached the report from the Honda Service Department.
I was traveling with my family and had just entered [XXX] I suddenly felt like I hit something like bags of sand...but nothing was there. My brother in back seat said it felt like a bowling ball hit sunroof. I slid open the protective guard and noticed all the glass in sun roof was pebbled and shattered. There were no overpasses nearby...there was little traffic as it was [XXX]. Not sure what happened. My insurance doesnt want to cover as they feel manufacturers defect. There is mention of several class action suits in progress online for imploding sunroofs, but I received no notices. Honda denies any defect and says not their problem. The steering gearbox mechanism is faulty. It causes the steering to be jerky and unstable, having to constantly adjust steering. We took it to the Honda Dealership in Ft. Walton Beach, FL for evaluation. They indicate "the steering gearbox is faulty and would need a new rack to fix issue". Cost to repair is approximately $4600. An independent mechanic locally also confirmed the same issue and provided a Honda Service Bulletin 18-103 showing this was a recall on 2017-2018 CRVs. Cost for them to repair (due to cost of parts) is nearly $7,000. Honda says our VIN is not covered under the recall. The car has only 55,000 miles on it and the steering gearbox is failing. At the direction of the local dealership service manager, we created a case with Honda corporate but they have denied the request to repair under prior recall. Honda directed us to the NCDS to file a request for review. NCDS denies the review since the CRV is out of warranty. Honda knows this was an issue on the 2017-2018 CRV and it is a safety issue and they refuse to repair it. I don't feel safe driving the car as I don't know when the steering gearbox will ultimately fail.
In January 2023 our vehicle began having numerous issues with sensors, alarms, door locks, the car would turn itself on and drain the battery overnight and at times would not shut off without pulling the main fuse. Through research online it was clear that the problem was the Body Control Module (BCM). There are many, many reports online of the 2018 CRV having this problem, so I took it to the dealer and they had never heard of the issue. They tried to do diagnostics but had no way to determine if it was the BCM. Finally, I asked them to just replace the BCM even without a diagnosis, and after 2 months (there were significant back orders of this part) we were able to get it installed in the car and all was fine. Fast forward to last week (April 2025) and it’s starting up again - electronics turning on randomly, battery drain, windows going down in the garage, warning lights all illuminated, dead battery every day - so the BCM that was installed in 2023 has failed AGAIN. Honda absolutely knows about this issue as they have a recall for Accords. However, I paid $1000 to fix it in 2023 and will no doubt pay at least that much now to do it again. Meanwhile, the car is effectively inoperable and can’t be safely operated on the road. Honda needs to RECALL this issue and fix it for good.
All for the safety features light remains on after starting and driving my car. I drive my car for 2 to 3 days per week. The most recent maintenance on my car was the Honda recall and alignment at the dealer. Reading various chats this seems to be a comma issue for the Honda CRV. I am concerned if saftey features work and if my sensors are defected. I purchased my car December 2018 with little over 67, 000k miles.
Summary of Issue: I am submitting this complaint regarding unresolved safety recall issues and recurring emission system failures with my 2018 Honda CR-V. Safety Recall Unresolved for Over One Year: I received a safety recall notice in early 2024 concerning my vehicle’s fuel pump, but despite numerous follow-ups with both Honda Customer Support and my local dealership, the issue has not been addressed. The necessary parts are not available, and the problem continues to be postponed for over a year, presenting potential safety risks. Emission System Disorder: In 2022, I experienced issues with the emission system in my vehicle, and the case was registered under Case Number 13205072. However, in 2025, the emission system malfunctioned again, and the dealer attributed it to a fuel injector problem. This contradicts the original diagnosis and raises further concerns about a defect in the emission system that may have existed since the vehicle was purchased. Dealer Excuse for Issue: Recently, the dealership has suggested that a faulty fuel injector caused the emission system failure, but I believe the underlying issue could be more serious, potentially related to the recall and the original emission system defect.
Honda has failed to provide the necessary parts to fix a safety recall on my vehicle. This recall is affecting my ability to renew my California DMV registration, as the state requires all safety recalls to be completed before renewal. I have contacted my local Honda dealership multiple times, and they have informed me that the parts are unavailable with no estimated repair date. This situation has put me in a difficult position where I cannot legally drive my vehicle due to expired registration, even though the issue is beyond my control. Honda has not provided an alternative solution, such as a loaner car or reimbursement for transportation costs. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter and urge Honda to resolve this issue immediately.
I experienced an incident related to the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) yesterday afternoon. I was driving on a highway at ~40mph and as I went through a (clear) intersection, my car suddenly decelerated, jerking me forward. Thankfully, I was wearing my seat belt and the car behind me left enough room between us, so there was no impact.
2018 Honda CRV with 47,000 miles bought 12/23/24. Upon driving the car that evening all warning lights on dashboard lit up, and every warning started popping up on the dash - hill start assist error, power steering problem, parking brake problem, vehicle stability assist problem, etc. Car drove without being affected but the warnings continued cycling through on the dashboard. Took it back to the dealer I bought it from, and they said the battery wasn't tightened down all the way. I drove it and the next day all the lights came back on, and cycled through all the warning system errors. It has since stopped again, but this seems to be an issue with the 2018 CRVs.
Honda dealer service has replaced Fuel pump as part of recall for my vehicle. After replacing the fuel pump, my car battery gets drained off very often and not able to start. I checked the battery and other parts including alternator in Firestone, everything looks good. So this is something to do with Fuel pump recall which was causing the battery to drain out.
I have 54,000 miles and this is the second battery and second set of tires. I understand a battery but 2 already , that shouldn’t be. And tires cupping on 2 sets of tires. And alignment was not the issue and I also have them rotated.
I received the "Important Safety Recall" notice in May 2024. I immediately called my Honda Dealer and was told that parts were on order, and I would be notified when available, however, the approximate date for resolution was in the Fall. I have called 4 times and received the same answer. Here we are in November 2024 and still no resolution. I am always asked if my vehicle is stalling, hesitating or loss of drive power, or wait for my vehicle to burst into flames potentially causing serious injury or possible death. I am very concerned about the safety issues this could cause. I very frequently have my young grandchildren in my vehicle. I don't understand the alleged shortage of parts...aren't new vehicles manufactured all the time? Do they not require fuel pumps? Thank you for your assistance with my safety concern.
I have a recall notice on this vehicle from December 2023 almost 2 years ago. The notice tells me to contact the dealer for the fuel pump recall. However, every time I call the dealer they tell me parts are not available. When can I expect Honda to fix the problem? No one has contacted me to fix this recall. I have had difficulty starting the car on a couple of occasions and I am worried about my family's safety when using the car.
Our vehicles air conditioning went out due to the AC Shaft Seal failing on the vehicle, which had its warranty extended by the NHTSA. Honda replaced this part after it failed over the extended warranty but also statted that due to it failing, the entire AC system went out because the compressor blew and sent parts theough out the entire AC system. Honda is not willing to replace the AC system that went out due to the seal failing. This seems inappropriate on our end because they new the failure could happen, did not part us to the potential risks, allowed for it to fail, and want to charge us the cost of repairs for the entire AC system that broke due to the part they new would fail, failing.
Every warning light came on at the same time. Everything except the cruise control and lane assist works, eventhough the warning lights are on. There is nothing wrong when driving, the car accelerates fine, brakes work fine. Only the cruise control and lane assist are affected by all the warning lights. Took car to the Honda dealership and was told 2 of my fuel injectors are completely clogged, but I have to replace all 4 of them. Why would fuel injector issue cause EVERY warning light to come on. My car gets great gas mileage (and has since I bought it brand new). Have read numerous forums with this same issue from 2017 Honda CRV to 2023 CRV's. Some have had their fuel injectors replaced and the problem comes back in a few weeks. If the fuel injectors aren't the issue, what exactly is making this happen and how do we know it won't cause the brakes and every other system to fail while driving down the street?
This might very well be linked/associated with recent recall for newer Honda CRVs 2022+ for the steering gearbox. Intermittently I'm hearing a creaking noise when steering to the left. I tried to get the dealer to reproduce the issue, and it happened twice while test driving in the lot, but a very faint noise. The dealer couldn't pinpoint the exact issue. The other thing which started happening alongside this creaking noise, is on slow highway speeds and curvy roads, I feel the steering wheel very tight and it seems to stick to the left side, and when I put pressure to turn right/make it straight, it feels like a very sudden movement. This is a safety issue, very likely if this increases, could cause an accident if I can't turn correctly. There are very similar complains by other Honda CR-V owners, and this merits an investigation and recall. I had a full 60K maintenance performed, where the dealer recommended a tie rod change, they replaced, replaced front brakes/rotors and had alignment done as part of that too, they did a complete check of everything under the car, and found no issues.
I understand that the NHTSA has an investigation ongoing after an unspecified number of owners reported serious problems with the differential. The investigation covers as many as 1.7 million 2018-2022 Honda CR-V. My Honda 2018 with 74,400 miles was just diagnosed with this problem. A pinion seal is leaking. The mechanic said this should not happen with such low miles.
i have been waiting since February 2024 for the recalled fuel pump to be replaced in my 2018 Honda CRV. I have not heard from anyone. I want to file a complaint, for the delay.
At this moment I do not have any incidents or ongoing problems with the car. I do want to prevent this therefore I am reaching out to complain about the long wait-time. The recall has been issued for a long time and I still have not been able to get the replacement of the part, waiting on the go-ahead from Honda. I am hoping it can be done in a timely manner to prevent a possible issue in the future.
The car would not turn off. It said that there was some sort of electronic key issue and after stopping the car and putting it in park the engine would not shut off. Hitting the stop button did nothing. With no option to basically render the car into a safe position I drove the car to the dealer. The dealer was surprised they looked at the car and basically diagnosed that the BCM had failed. It is surprising to me that the BCM and ignition control systems are designed to prevent turning off the engine in case of failure of one of the components. They charged me approximately $750 for replacing the BCM.
Purchased vehicle March 6,2024. On the test drive I noticed some front end passenger issues and jerking of steering wheel while driving. I was assured it was a tire issue and alignment. I put new pads, rotors, calipers on front end and bought new tires. Car is still jerking from side to side while trying to steer no matter the speed but worse over 50 MPH.
The passenger rear door will not open. It won’t lock or unlock. You can’t open the door from the inside or outside.
I purchased a used 2018 CRV in January/February 2024. It came with a recall notice. I have been trying to get it fixed, but two different dealerships have told me that the part is not available and I need to wait for a second recall notice. This is concerning and I do not believe I am being told the truth regarding the availability of parts needed for them to comply with the recall repair.
My car was well maintained with less than 40k miles. One evening, when I was trying to get back home from my office, my car didn't start. I called a Honda dealer. They suspected battery issues and jump-start requirements. I called my AAA insurance for roadside assistance. They did jump-start the car and said my battery was completely DEAD. Charged me around 213$ for a battery replacement. I drove back home. The next day morning, my car didn't start again! I had to get the car towed to my dealership. The dealer was unable to figure out what went wrong. He kept the car under his observation for a night and it worked fine. When I went to collect the car after payment of about 120$ (diagnosis, cleaning, and testing charges by the dealership), the car turned on by itself with a blinking red light on the dashboard along with a battery and other lamp symbols turned on. The dealer said he found the root cause and said it could be a BCM Module issue. The BCM Module is supposed to coordinate and function many electronic safety components in the car. The car's electric components turn on by themselves and drain out the battery!! I was very shocked to see BCM's failure and it could have potential SAFETY HAZARDS for consumers!! Please look into this issue.
All of the warning lights came up on my dash and stayed on for almost 24 hours on this most recent occasion of this problem indicating that there was all of the following: emissions systems problem, brake system problem, power steering system problem, VSA problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control, problem, road departure mitigation, and hill start assist problem. This was approximately the 5th time that this has happened. The problem occurred when I turned the car back on and started to drive after it had been turned off for 10 minutes. This problem seems to be triggered by 2 different events: either idling (like in a drive thru line for a long time) the car, or, after starting the car after it has been turned off of a short period of time. The previous incidence of this problem was on January 7, 2024.
I was driving with my wife and 2 children on the highway in our 2018 Honda CRV and the sunroof randomly shattered, raining glass on us in the car. Luckily nobody was injured, but we could have been cut or crashed. Dealer and Honda deny any issue. It was inspected by insurance reps and body repair shop. I opened claim for this through all state claim# [XXX]. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to the incident. It looks like others have had issues with Honda HRV and CRV: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My concern is that I have to wait 7 months or more for the part needed to be produced. Is this safe? Is this a "timely" response to my recall?
All electrical warnings spontaneously engaged on the panel; disabling cruise control and adaptive tools (emergency braking, lane warming, 3rd party vehicle encroachment, etc). The car drives fine. Has happened 6 times in the last 2 years. Either spontaneously resets when I turn the car off and then on, or I have to disengage the battery to reset everything.
Dashboard Display screen glitches. Becomes inoperable. I took the car to the dealer and they ignored it. Causes safety issues when reversing, navigating in an unknown area, makes beeping noises, and cannot be reset without turning the car off and then back on. This has been happening intermittently since 2019.
*To be honest, I'm unsure of what systems are failing, but there are multiple. The dash shows Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA problem), Hill Start Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Power Steering (EPS) Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Emissions System Problem, Brake System Problem. *These systems are integral to safe driving for me and my family, even though I can drive the vehicle. I cannot use cruise control, lane-keep assist, or brake hold, and the car is not handling like it was. It tends to be harder to control. * The warning lamps and messages are on and indicated in the first point. This happened on Monday while my wife was driving, and all those systems shut off. When she parked she did an online search of what the issue might be and found multiple YouTube videos of Honda owners for different models and years with the same problem. One remedy required a reboot of the electrical system in accessory mode. That worked for a day, but now the errors won't clear, and we're unable to use the vehicle's safety features.
My vehicle stalled out while driving on the highway, with all electrical components going haywire and the vehicle stopped accelerating or maintaining speed. After being towed 61 miles, my mechanic says that it is not making a loud noise when he tries to test-drive it, had no power, and returned MANY error codes, including one for the turbo. Mechanic believes that the turbo failed and triccered all electrical systems to go haywire. Honda dealership service tech confirms (without commitment, as they did not personally examine it) that the mechanics explanation makes sense and my experience describes what would happen if the turbo failed. In addition to putting me in an unsafe situation on the highway, this malfunction may end up costing me thousands between parts, labor, and towing costs. Research on the problem tells me this has happened to many other 2017-2017 CRV owners and Honday has simply failed to address the issue. UNACCEPTABLE.
the problem with my car is the air conditioning. It blows air but warm air and not cold air. This affects my work since I work on a marine base out in the desert, and the 3 hour drive always overheats everything in my car including my phone and things I try to bring home. I had to pick up another marines family at the airport and their baby kept crying because the car was so hot. At Valvoline I asked about getting my AC fixed, and they referred me to getting a recall. Over near the base an Autozone employee told me I needed AC refrigerant, so I got the $155 since the CRV is 2018. It didn’t work even with the workers’ help so they told me that it’s my AC system that’s over pressured and I needed to get it fixed immediately.
My 2018 CRV will intermittently have malfunctioning in which all warning indicators will go on flashing. The car seems to drive ok when this happens. Once in a while when this occurs, the car will not start, then eventually it will start again. I have taken to the Honda dealer several times regarding this issue. It was recommended to first fix the Power unit, which I have done around March 2023. In July 2023, the car started up again with all warning lights, once again the car seemed to run ok. I took it in again to Honda and was told that despite the issue, the car can been driven per usual and if I start to have any mechanical issues to bring it in. On September 9th 2023 the warning lights when on again and the car was not starting up. a few more attempts to start vehicle and it started and was running fine. Then the same day after the car was parked for about a half hr, the car would not start. There are numerous issues reported by other owners of the Honda CRVs with this issue. I believe this is a safety concern and Honda needs to create a recall like they did for the Honda pilots. Another issue I have is the AC takes a long time to cool and is not very cold. I live in a climate where the temperatures reach upper 90s and low 100s for 4 months out of the year. Repairs had been made soon after i purchased the vehicle, but the AC never really worked well.
This letter serves as a request for clarification regarding the rejection of my goodwill claim, as well as an appeal for reconsideration as I believe there has been an oversight in evaluating my vehicle situation. I would like to provide additional information that I believe would shed new light on my situation. I believe that a comprehensive review of my appeal will demonstrate that the decision does not accurately reflect the Honda Company’s commitment to meeting the expectations of customers, nor does it reflect my own commitment to the Honda Company as a repeat customer for over a decade. About two weeks ago, my 2018 Honda CRV came to a full stop while driving on the highway. After spending the entire night stuck in the car with trucks and other vehicles driving past and almost hitting us, we were finally towed and brought to Lia Honda Brewster. If we weren’t on the right side of the road and preparing to take the exit, we would have been killed by the trucks speeding past us. At Lia Honda Brewster we learned that the transmission had failed and would cost 7,800 dollars to repair. This came as a shock because per the recommendations stated on Honda’s website, the transmission should be serviced every 50,000-100,000 miles and attached to this email is the paperwork proving that the car along with the transmission had been serviced according to Honda’s recommendation. As I did not misuse nor operate the car incorrectly, I am led to believe that the transmission had been defective. In New York State, Product Liability Laws place strict liability on manufacturers and automakers for defects in their car. Under these laws, a car must perform or meet the standard for which they were intended, meaning that I, the customer, can reasonably expect that I will not have problems operating the vehicle and expect the vehicle to be safely drivable. I am surprised as well as upset at Honda’s negligence and lack of accountability, but also because of the lack of support i
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle with the air conditioning activated, there was a burning rubber odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that over time, a skin rash and throat irritation had developed due to the contaminated air blowing inside the vehicle. No medical treatment was received. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 35,000.

Vehicle AC is not blowing as cold as it was or should be, was a gradual decline over a 1 - 2 month period.
All the warning lights come on at random times for all these components: Adaptive Cruise Control Automatic Emergency Braking Blind Spot Warning Forward Collision Warning Lane Departure Warning Lane Keeping Assistance Parking Collision Warning Rear Cross Traffic Warning And the "ding, ding, ding" noise when the door is open also starts dinging. This has kept happening since we changed the battery last year. I have researched this issue on the internet and there are many CRV owners in the same situation. Some taken their vehicle into the dealerships and have paid thousands for "fixes" that don't work. Your agency really needs to look into this. This is an urgent safety issue since we can't have all these warnings going on at any time and when will we know there really is a problem?
The Honda dealer in Elk Grove, CA repaired my air condition once in 2020 when it was under warranty and then the air condition broke down again just after the warranty ended. I attempted to go to Honda and they said that they are unable to offer any service as it is outside of the warranty period. Each summer, it is impossible to drive this car where I live at and have also heard of others having the same issue.
Both drivers side and passenger sun visors in car slowly started falling and not holding up creating an issue with visibility.
2018 CR-V my air conditioner began to blow warm air after warranty expired. Research showed that many people are having same defect. Honda has put out service bulletin TSB APAS11162021901. The local dealer quoted 1500$ to replace seal. Honda help line declined to help with cost. We live in AZ so AC is a safety issue.
On April 21, 2023, I was driving on the interstate highway at 70 MPH. The outside air temp was 82 degrees. The inside temp was approximately 72. Without warning, the sunroof exploded. Had the inside shade not been in use, we would have been showered by broken glass while traveling at highway speed. There was no known previous damage to the glass. The vehicle has a current inspection.
As I was driving on the interstate, heading to get gas because I had 25 miles left (according to my car's system), my car stalled from going about 70 mph. At the exact same time, I got warnings for what seemed like every system of the car. Luckily, I was able to get on the left shoulder before I stopped moving, but if traffic was worse or if I wasn't as close to one of the shoulders, I would've been stranded in a lane (or two) of the interstate. After I took my car to the dealership, they determined I had a bad fuel pump and that it needed to be replaced. Turns out that I didn't have 25 miles left; I had 0. I emailed Honda Customer Service, mentioning a prior recall they had for fuel pumps, but it seems that didn't include mine.
Turned car on and every warning light and notification came on dash. Notifications on dash tated, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem,
All the warning lights started displaying on the dashboard over the course of six months. One day they would all start coming up one at time, then when I would turn off the vehicle for an extended amount of time, they were no longer there. Finally at my oil change appointment I brought up the issue and I was told it was a fuel injector issue. Apparently they’ve had many CR-V owners come in with the same problems…over $1000 to repair!
Component: Body Control Module (vehicle is sitting at the deanship). Safety of driver and 2 small children (6 year old and 18 month old) in back seat. First the remote start didn't work - that was okay, but driving down the highway 75South going home after pick up children the door locks kept going off and on, the windows kept going up and down (all windows). No warning whatsoever. However upon reading on internet the first sign of the body control module failure was when the battery kept dying and we replaced that at a cost of $200. Now we are told we can still drive the car while we wait for the part - which we are told could be 9 months to a year for the part, we would need to unhook the battery and hook it back up. Is this really what you tell a single mom, nursing student with two small children to do. What could happen if the wires a crossed and the car goes up in flames with children inside? Cannot afford to have a rental car for 9 months or more.
The car does not get up to operating temperature at idle during cold climates. If the car is started and left to idle and warm up, the heat will not blow and the front window will not defrost. If the car is driven on short trips through town, it will not heat up at all. Also, if the car is driven around and gets up to operating temperature and then left to idle, the car's temperature will slowly edge down and cause no heat to blow from the vents. I have brought the car in to the dealer twice for the same issue only for them to tell me that this is a normal characteristic of the car and that nothing is wrong. I have never had this issue on any other vehicle. Additionally, the car suffers from oil dilution in the engine which cases poor performance and thinned oil. The oil level gradually increases over time after being driven because of gasoline entering the engine oil. I believe that this will eventually lead to premature wear in my engine.
On September 21, 2022, was pulling into a parking space at my doctor’s office, had my foot on the brake, and the vehicle accelerated, jumped the curb, and hit a tree. No injuries, no other vehicles, people, or objects involved. Afterwards, the vehicle was driven without incident to the repair shop. Three days before this incident, on September 18th, the brake warning light engaged while I was driving on the freeway. At that time, there were no other vehicles in front of me in my lane. It was an early sunny Sunday morning. I had one other incident during the first year as the owner of this vehicle where the computer screen turned blue and flickered. I had to pull over, turn off my vehicle, wait a few moments, then restart. Everything was fine after that up until this last incident.Vehicle was purchased new, standard maintenance schedule has been followed, and I am the original owner.
AC compressor broke after 25K miles
AC Compressor Leaking Freon. 23243 miles. Cost $2184.20 to repair. Numerous complaints concerning AC, compressor should not have failed at this juncture. Believe HONDA installed defective part during production.
Air conditioner stopped working in July 2021. Sent to dealer to check as car was under warranty. Dealer performed system diagnostic test. Performed all DTC check: Found code P0441, P04F1 Evap System Purge Flow Malfunction. Performed DTC troubleshooting. Visual inspect purge hoses. No damage. Check evaporation hose no block inside. Holding vacuum. Due to gas tank full. Recommended replace purge valve and recheck. When completed air conditioner worked. Less than a year later air conditioner stopped working again. Same dealer states now is air coolant replacement issue and would cost $475.00 to repair.
Tight spot in the steering , very scary going down the road ! Steering sticks to the left and you have to pull it back to the right . Progressively getting worse . Warranty has expired ,according to Dealership ! I live on a fixed income and need some help . Thank you !
A/C Failure in May, 2021 AND REPEATED in May, 2022: Prior to June 1, 2021, when the CRV was about 33 months old, the Air Conditioner stopped providing cool or cold air when was set as low as 65 degrees. The dealer checked it and found it was leaking (code 06001) and replaced the compressor, coil set, and clutch, then recharged it. It worked fine in 2021, but in the spring of 2022 it stopped cooling again (only about 10,000 miles in 3 1/2 yrs).. Dealer said the A/C is covered under its one year warranty, so it will be returned to the dealer in 2 days. Total mileage now is about 13, 200 miles. This is an engineering disaster and in warm weather can cause accidents. This problem is a long standing issue since early in 2000 and should be REPAIRED permanently,
Shortly after 3 yrs of ownership, problem lights on the dashboard for the entire system turned on (Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Brake System Problem, Emergency Brakes, Emission System Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor Problem, Lane Assist, etc). That was in August 2021. We were told a new battery was needed, so we changed it. The lights went off. Eventually it happened again. The battery was readjusted, so it reset everything. It has happened several other times. It happened again recently (April 2022) while driving. The safety issue took place during this incident when the vehicle started to decelerate (from 45 MPH) on a busy road. We barely made it to the shoulder, turned off the car, and restarted it. This keeps happening with no repair solution yet.
My vehicle stops going down the road. It starts slowing down quickly and is very hard to drive like the power steering is going out. Hopefully I can get to a shoulder to turn it off. I let it sit for a few minutes and it will restart. Close to my home, there are curves where there is no shoulder and it has happened multiple times there. It is not consistent and usually occurs within the first 30 minutes of your drive. This has happened since I bought brand new but is occurring more frequently now.
The car hard brakes unexpectedly. It has done it on the highway and city streets. It has happened multiple times and has done it randomly since I bought the car new. The date below is the most recent.
When the Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) system is engaged, the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system will engage without cause. The braking primarily occurs in construction zones where traffic is being routed off the main traffic lanes onto shoulders or temporary lanes. The braking increases the risk of a rear end crash. It has occurred numerous times since the vehicle was purchased in Dec of 2018. I rarely used the RDM system anymore. If I do, I disengage it when I drive through construction zones.
In December 2021, my kids and I were in the car waiting outside the restaurant for our food. The car was on and in less than 10 minutes all the warning lights flashed on the dashboard. I turned the engine off and on but all the warning lights were still flashing. Called the dealership and was advised to have it towed. They couldn’t find any problem. On February 16, four days after our car was serviced, on the way to work the vehicle was slowing down and running rough. I turned it off and on, same thing, foot on accelerator but it only slowed me down. Called the dealership and was advised to have it towed. They couldn’t find any problem. On the afternoon of February 21, every warning lights came flashing on the dashboard again. Every time you turn it on, the warning lights are still there. I’m on my way to have it checked to the dealership again.
The sunroof exploded on November 22, 2021. It happened as I drove under an overpass, so I thought it was the result of something falling on to it. But when the repairman couldn’t find anything within the glass, I didn’t know what to think. Then I saw a story, that was done in 2012, about exploding sunroofs on the news. My experience was similar to that of the people interviewed. The sunroof has been replaced by my insurance.
The driver's side sun visor will not stay up in the correct position it keeps falling down causing visibility issues. when I'm going down the interstate at 70 miles an hour and The driver side sun visor decides to just go from the correct position and fall down into my line of view especially at night there's a couple of seconds there where my eyes get taken off the road to deal with it and that shouldn't happen. I consider this to say the issue it's no different than your phone ringing and looking down to see who's calling because when it just falls down in front of your face those couple of seconds something could happen. I get my Honda CRV serviced regularly at the dealership and I've mentioned it to them and they've offered to let me order one and pay for it and they would put it home but I'm still paying the car off. So I guess my only option is just to take it off completely not replace it and then just hope that the sun isn't really bright one day and calls me to get an accident because I'm blinded because I don't have a sun visor anymore
The driver side sun visor does not fully engage to its upright position. It hangs too low and partially obstructing my view while driving.
Sun visor will not go back to its upright position. It is set about 5 to 6 inches below where it should be. Leading edge is at about forehead level and has a hard frame (would not be fun in an accident). Issue was first noticed after a few months of use. I recently mentioned the condition to the dealer and they indicated that others have experienced the same condition. They are ordering a replacement visor.
My son and I entered my car that was parked in my driveway. We heard a noise. Upon getting out of my car and checking to see what happened, my sunroof had shattered. I immediately called the police because I thought maybe it was a stray bullet. The police did not see a bullet. My sunroof shattered for no reason. Had I been driving and the panel had not been closed, glass would have gone everywhere and my son and I could have been injured
The vehicle has a "feature" which rolls down the windows automatically upon pressing the unlock button on the keyfob twice and then holding the button. On multiple occasions the windows have rolled down without the owner's knowledge when keys are carried in pockets, purses, etc. This is considered a safety issue due to risk of windows unrolling in inclement weather and damaging the interior, or due to risk of an unauthorized person obtaining access to the car by reaching through the now opened window and simply depressing the interior unlock button. There is no way to disable this capability.
I had been running errands, driving, made 2 stops. When I cranked the car at the 3rd stop, the Dashboard warning system lights all come on and won’t go off. This includes the TPMS System, Brake Failure warning light, Emergency Brake Light, Lane Assist, VSA warning, etc. The car was drivable, so I took it to the dealer in December 2020. They said battery was low and I bought a new one. October, 2021, it happened again. The battery was under warranty, so they changed it out for a new one. Today, 2 weeks later, November 2021, it happened again. The dealer is keeping it for diagnostics. No resolution yet. The vehicle has less than 25k miles, but of course not under warranty because it was purchased more than 3 years ago.
Grinding noises were heard in the car twice, before the engine stalled. The car was stopped in the middle of the intersection. Could not restart the car at all, and check engine lights were lit on the dashboard. After 5 minutes passed and after multiple tries to restart the car, the engine started and I was able to get to safety. Upon dealer inspection, the cause was the air condition compressor locking up, possibly due to a leak in the refrigerant. This is confirmed by the car blowing hot air even in AC mode. The lock up caused the engine to stall and go into fail safe mode. This meant the car was stopped and unable to restart in the middle of a busy intersection. Because the car's engine was stopped, it was not possible to get the car moving again. It was incredibly dangerous for me and my passengers, as well as other cars on the road. Even when the lights changed, I was still stuck. There were cars driving around my car, causing more potential traffic incidents. The engine was not able to be immediately restarted, which put multiple cars in traffic in danger for longer than necessary. The car is being serviced by Roush Honda (100 W Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081). Prior to the failure, there were no warning signs and no other issues. This was a sudden and completely unexpected engine stall due to the AC Compressor Failure. This issue is common among CRV (2017 to 2020). https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t72370_ds1082603. There is also another NTSHA notice on this car related to the AC Compressor Leak. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10189868-0001.pdf Please recall this car. This issue puts everyone in an incredibly dangerous situation.
I have a 2018 Honda CRv EX-L (Certified Preowned). On June 16th 2021 while on the way to get an oil change a few warning lights came on the dashboard, (LKAS, Brake system, ACC, Collision Mitigation), the cruse control and driver assist stopped working also a brake light came on. My mechanic ran a diagnosis and the codes that showed on the report were code U30006-16 and code P2583-76 he advised that I take the car to the Honda dealer to get it fixed. The next day June 17th when I started the car the warning lights were all off. I called the Honda dealer in Forth Pierce Florida later that day to make an appointment to have the car looked at but was told that unless the lights are on that they would not be able to run a diagnosis for the problem and to call again if the lights came back on. On September 4th while in Tampa Florida the warning lights all came on again for the 2nd time. I called the Honda Dealer in Tampa and was able to make an appointment for September 9th 2021. On September 6Th 2021 when I started the car, the warning lights were all off again. I went in to the Honda Dealer in Tampa on September 9th. Hoping that they would be able to fix the problem even though the warning lights were now all off again. I told them of the codes that showed when my mechanic ran the diagnosis on June 16th. (code U30006-16 and code P2583-76). I left the car with them and went off to school. Later that day they ( Tampa Honda) called to inform me that my wave radar had been misaligned because something like a rock must have hit it while I was driving. I was also told that the replacements are back ordered so I needed to come get my car. I was also told that Honda would not cover the cost of the repair because the radar being hit causes it to no longer be under warranty. I personally feel that if something as a little rock is going to disable the whole HONDA
All the warning feature message show up on the dashboard, then all the safety feature is disable
40,000 miles A/C not working properly - blowing hot air Honda Service evaluation: AC SYSTEM IS BLOWING AT 62.9 DEGREES NHTSA ID: 10197656
Malfunctioning A/C unit - July 2020 noticed no cool air coming through while A/C was on. Had a dealer in WA look at it and they found A/C discharge hose leaking. They couldn't fix it since the part was not in stock and I was in the process of moving out of state. Then took it to a different Honda dealer in OK in August 2020 and they tested it and also said discharge hose was leaking, they replaced hose - evac and charge system - a/c working as intended. This was within warranty so no charge, mileage 24,675. Then once it got hot again and tried to use the A/C, it wasn't blowing cold air again. Took it to the Honda dealer again June 2021, mileage 28,428 and they said now it's the receiver pipe is leaking, the other pipe. Per their notes, the service recommended is to replace 1 line and perform a/c service (looks like the a/c line from compressor to the condenser is leaking and needs replaced.) But now it's out of warranty by a couple of months. This seems to be an issue with 2017 - 2019 Honda CRV's from seeing it on multiple posts from other Honda owners. I haven't had the work done on this yet so it can be inspected again or I can send you the invoice that states this information. Please help with this known issue with CRV's.
Air conditioning failure after manufacturer warranty expires, it seems like common problem for 2018 honda CR-V.
the air condition of the car does not work properly. there has been multiple complaints about the ac not cooling properly making it a safety hazard for people in the car in hot weather. The ac compressor seems to always have a leak or the condessor. I believe they should make a recall the the ac compressor of this year of the Honda crv.
From 4/12/21 till 6/18/21 have had intermittently, all safety warnings lights on dash roll constantly while driving. Usually for 1-3 days, then it stops. Brought into dealership 3 times. First time, 4/12/21 battery changed at 41,525 miles. Second time, 5/1/21, they said warning light not on when they turn the car on, but they checked it out anyway. Third time 6/14-15/21, 43,293 miles, they kept my car, said last software update wasn't completed. On 6/18/21 the safety warning lights came back on. They have not answered my question, because this is happening, is my car safe to drive? My concern is, the warnings lights are telling me there is a problem, but the dealership is not. So are these safety features working, or disabled while they stay on.
Glass sunroof spontaneously shattered while on highway. Glass shards flew off the roof of the vehicle causing unsafe road hazards to those behind us. Glass shards will fall into vehicle if screen is pulled back under sunroof. Contacted dealer and was told this is a insurance issue. No impact to sunroof by debris. No warning before it shattered. Has not been inspected yet by dealer, manufacturer or insurance.
DRIVING ON CITY STREET AND INTERSTATE THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST BUT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM HOUSES THE GPS AND CLIMATE CONTROL (DEFROST) SYSTEM ALONG WITH THE CAR SETTINGS (ADAS) AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. WHEN YOU ARE DEPENDENT ON THE GPS FOR NAVIGATION AND YOU LOOSE THE DIRECTIONS YOU GO INTO A PANIC SITUATION TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT. WHEN THE WINDSHIELD FOGS AND YOU CAN'T USE THE DEFROST SYSTEM IT BECOMES A VISIBILITY ISSUE. DEALERSHIP HAS UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

I AM INTERESTED IN OBTAINING ADDITIONAL RECORDS RELATED TO 2 COMPLAINTS FOR THIS 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE PRIOR NHTSA ID NUMBERS ARE 1185601; INCIDENT DATE 1/5/19 AND NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11283193, INCIDENT DATE 11/29/19. I CHECKED THE BOS FOR "REQUEST RESEARCH" BUT NO OPTION WAS PROVIDED TO GET THE RESEARCH. I AM INTERESTED IN OBTAINING ANY ADDITIONAL RECORDS RELATES TO THESE COMPLAINTS.
THE HEATING/ COOLING SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION VERY WELL IN COLD TEMPERATURES. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE CABIN TO HEAT UP IN THE WINTER, AND ON SHORT TRIPS IT DOES NOT HEAT UP SUFFICIENTLY, EVEN WHEN I LET THE CAR "WARM UP" IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE I DRIVE AWAY. WHILE THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A MINOR INCONVENIENCE, IT IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE WINDOWS KEEP FOGGING UP, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE REAR WINDOWS ARE HARD TO KEEP DEFROSTED AND VISIBILITY IS VERY LIMITED WHEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE AND HAVING TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO LOWER MY BACK WINDOWS IN ORDER TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT, BUT THAT IS ALSO LIMITED BECAUSE THE WINDOWS DO NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY. I ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THIS WHEN THEY FOG UP BECAUSE I ALMOST SIDE SWIPED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO LIMITED VISIBILITY DUE BEING UNABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS PROPERLY. FROM ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AND ONE WOULD THINK THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN.

DRIVING ALONG AND CAR STARTS BEEPING AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS START BLINKING. I MEAN ALL. BRAKES, ENGINE, CRUISE, ETC. CAR WAS IN MOTION. I HAD IT TO HONDA IN OCTOBER THEY SAID THEY REPLACED A/C CONTROL UNIT, UPDATE PCM AND TCM AND CHANGED OIL. ALSO SAID VALVE COVER LEAKING REPLACE VALVE COVER GASKET SET. THIS WAS IN OCTOBER 2020 AND WAS GRATIS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN FEB. 2021. THEY TELL ME NOW THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE BAD AND THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WILL COST $1477 + TO REPAIR. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH FUEL INJECTORS AND THAT IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. THIS SCARES YOU SO BAD WHEN THE CAR BEEPS ALL THE WAY HOME AND ALL THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING ON THE DASH.

WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED REPEATEDLY. THEY RESET WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM, AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.THIS HAPPENED ALREADY FOUR TIMES, AND WE ARE CONCERNED THAT IT COULD BECOME WORSE, AND CAUSE A MORE SERIOUS OUTCOME.
THE CLOSED SUNROOF OF MY 2018 CR-V HONDA, EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH ON A CLOUDY 57 DEGREE EVENING ABOUT 5:00PM 10/26/2020. LOUD AND SCARY SOUND, THOUGHT MAYBE GUNSHOT, BUT NO! I WAS NOWHERE NEAR OVERPASSES OR OTHER VEHICLES! NOTHING HIT MY SUNROOF! GLASS DEFECT?

FLORIDA ARBITRATION CLAIM IN PROGRESS: AFTER THE FIRST YEAR OF PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, THE CRV NAVIGATION DISPLAY SYSTEM HAS BEGUN TO MALFUNCTION. THIS INCLUDES FREEZING, CHANGE IN BRIGHTNESS, LOSS OF FUNCTIONS SUCH AS NAVIGATION CONTROL, RADIO CONTROL AND CAMERA CONTROL. ADDITIONALLY, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MYSELF AND THOSE AROUND ME AS THE SYSTEM WILL LOCK UP AND IF THE HANDS FREE IS IN USE A SCREECHING NOISE WILL OCCUR UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN STOPPED AND COMPLETELY RESTARTED AS THIS OCCURS ONLY WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION AND MOVING.. THE ONLY TEMPORARY FIX HAS BEEN TO RESTART THE CAR UNTIL IT OCCURS AGAIN. ALSO WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE A/C WILL CEASE FUNCTIONING. HONDA HAS REPEATEDLY SATED THAT THE ISSUE IS AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS DUE TO MY PHONE SAYING THAT MY SAMSUNG IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE CAR. HOWEVER, THE CAR IS FEATURE SPECIFICALLY WITH ANDROID AUDIO.

WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 25 THE HEATER DOES NOT HEAT UNLESS YOU DRIVE ABOVE 50 MPH YOU CAN LET THE CAR IDLE FOR 30 MIN AND NO HEAT. I THINK THE THERMOSTAT IS STUCK OPEN. HAVE TAKEN IT TO HONDA 104 AND FEDERAL IN WESTMINSTER WHERE THE CAR WAS BOUGHT AND THEY SAID TOO BAD.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2018. ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO, THE BATTERY WAS BAD AND REPLACED BY THE CAR DEALER. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE RETURN HOSE. THE CAR STAY AT DEALER FOR 7 DAYS IN ORDER TO GET THE NEW PART IN. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR AS IT WAS TOO HOT TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE I BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE CAR.

THE SAFETY SYSTEM (HONDA SENSING) THAT DETECTS A CAR OR PEDESTRIAN IN YOUR PATH AND ENGAGES THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND AUTOMATIC BRAKING MECHANISM WILL SOMETIMES ENGAGE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THERE IS NO OBJECT ANY WHERE NEAR THE CAR. IF THIS ENGAGES THAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING A COLLISION. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN 6 TIMES AND 2 OF THOSE 6 TIMES THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND AND BRAKING OCCURRED. THE OTHER 4 TIMES THE WARNING LIGHT WITH THE BRAKE INDICATOR CAME ON WHICH WAS DISTRACTING.

I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND APPROACHED A GREEN LIGHT. THE LIGHT WAS GREEN AND THERE WERE NO CARS TRAVELING IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS A CAR SITTING IN THE TURNING LANE FACING ME WAITING TO TURN. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. ALL OF A SUDDEN AN ALARM WENT OFF IN THE CRV AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED HARD FOR NO REASON. THE CRV ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THROWING ME FORWARD. I QUICKLY EVALUATED THE SITUATION. THE LIGHT WAS GREEN, NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME EXCEPT THE CAR FACING ME IN THE TURNING LANE. I AM AFRAID THE CAR WILL DO IT AGAIN FOR NO REASON TO ME OR MY PARTNER. NO DAMAGE OCCURED.05 *TR

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN PAST THREE WEEKS. CAR STARTS AND AND ALL LIGHTS COME ON BLINKING ON DASHBOARD INCLUDING BRAKE, BRAKE SYSTEM, AND CONTINUE BLINKING. BLINKING LIGHTS CONTINUE WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY OR MOVING AND ON GRAVEL ROAD AND PAVED ROADS. THE FIRST TRIP TO LOCAL HONDA AND REPORT WAS BAD BATTERY. SECOND TRIP AND I WAS TOLD CONNECTOR BOX. THIS IS THIRD TIME AND ITS WEEKEND AND LOCAL HONDA CLOSED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THE DATE BELOW IS THIRD TIME DATE.

TWICE AT THE SAME 4 STOP INTERSECTION, I HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN CLEAR ATTEMPTED PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM (CMBS) HAS ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY. WHILE EITHER DRIVING VEHICLE OR THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WHILE USING NAVIGATION, MUSIC, ETCETERA FROM INFOTAINMENT SCREEN, WILL EITHER REBOOT OR GO BLANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE WE HAVE TAKEN POSSESSION OF THE CAR IN APRIL 2018.

HAPPENS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND COMMONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. IF YOU USE A USB STICK TO PLAY AUDIO THROUGH THE CAR STEREO WILL TEMPORARILY FREEZE AND REQUIRES YOU TO PRESS THE SCREEN AGAIN TO RESUME THE MUSIC PLAYING. THIS ISN'T MUCH OF A SAFETY CONCERN EXCEPT IF THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE USING THE REAR CAMERA TO BACK UP. THE SCREEN WILL STOP SHOWING A LIVE FEED AND JUST SHOW WHAT IS SHOWING WHEN IT FROZE. PEOPLE MAY NOT NOTICE THAT THE PICTURE ISN'T LIVE AND CONTINUE THINKING THAT EVERYTHING IS CLEAR BEHIND THEM. THANKS TO GOV'T REAR CAMERAS ARE BEING REQUIRED. THIS ISSUE I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING SADLY LESSENS THE SAFETY OF A CAR RATED AS A TOP SAFETY PICK BY YOUR ORGANIZATION (NOT BLAMING YOU FOR NOT NOTICING IT) 7/26/19 I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH HONDA OF PRINCETON WHO WASN'T ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE NOR DID THEY INSTILL CONFIDENCE THAT THEY'D BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS EXPLAINS THE DELAY IN REPORTING TO YOU. I SPOKE WITH HONDA 12/26/19 (CASE 10111741) AND THEY SAID THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND DIDN'T HAVE A FIX AT THE TIME. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVER SINCE WE GOT THE CAR. WE HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT USB DRIVES WITHOUT SUCCESS. I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN APPLYING PRESSURE FOR A FIX TO BE ISSUED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

I OWN A 2018 CRV PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST 2018. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A SLIGHTLY DRIZZLY, APPROXIMATELY 45-ISH DEGREE MORNING THIS WEEK, I HEARD A LOUD BANG/EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT CRACKLING NOISE RIGHT OVER MY HEAD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED MY SUNROOF SHADE SHUT AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK (ABOUT A 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD), I DISCOVERED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. BECAUSE I PULLED THE SHADE CLOSED, THE GLASS DID NOT FALL IN TO THE VEHICLE SO THERE WAS NO INJURY SUSTAINED. MY ROUTE IS ONE I DO DAILY AND DOES NOT INCLUDE AN OVERPASS OR OVERHANGS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD BEEN THROWN/FALLEN ON MY ROOF. THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE BODY/ROOF. I BELIEVE THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WHEN I SPOKE WITH MY HONDA DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO AN OUTSIDE BODY SHOP TO REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE DEALER'S FINANCE OFFICE ABOUT MY WARRANTY, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NO GLASS REPAIR IS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO SUBMIT UNDER MY COMPREHENSIVE CAR INSURANCE. MY INSURANCE DID ULTIMATELY COVER THE DAMAGE ALTHOUGH THEY WERE RELUCTANT AS THEY FELT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.

OUR SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARDS WHILE DRIVING ON A CLEAR EXPRESSWAY. WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING FOR ABOUT 4 HRS, AND THE SUNROOF GLASS BUBBLED OUTWARDS AND EXPLODED IN MANY MANY SMALL FRAGMENTS. THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH AN OUTSIDE OBJECT AND THE GLASS WAS CLEARLY BLOWN OUTWARD. WE SUSPECT THE HEAT BUILDUP BETWEEN THE GLASS AND THE MOON PRESSURIZED THE AIR AND THE GLASS FAILED, EXPLODING.

FOR NO APPARENT REASON, MY MOONROOF EXPLODED, I WAS VERY STARTLED AND SWERVED BARELY MISSING THE CAR BESIDE ME. THE SUNSCREEN WAS CLOSED, AND I WAS NOT INJURED, BUT SHATTERED GLASS WOULD HAVE RAINED ON THE CAR BEHIND ME. INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 11/01/2019

ON MANY OCCASIONS MY CRV AUTO BRAKES HARD AND LANE KEEP FOLLOWS THE WRONG LINES. 2 EXAMPLES OF BRAKING: 1 - A PICKUP TRUCK WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN IN FRONT ON ME. AS A HUMAN I STARTED TO GO AROUND HIM TO THE LEFT AS HE TURNED BUT MY AUTO BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THE PERSON BEHIND ME CAME WITHIN INCHES FROM REAR ENDING ME THEN GOT ROAD RAGE AND CHASED ME FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT DO! COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! 2ND WAS ON A BEND IN THE ROAD - A WHITE MOVING TRUCK COMING THE OTHER WAY ON THE BEND MADE MY AUTO BRAKES LOCK UP HARD / NEAR A FULL STOP! THIS HAPPENS OFTEN BUT NOT USUALLY TO THESE EXTREMES. LANE KEEP - WHILE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE AND LK ON I WENT THRU A RECENT CONSTRUCTION AREA AND MY HONDA STARTED TO FOLLOW OLD LINES AND PAINTED OVER W/ BLACK PAINT LINES - NOT THE NEW LINES FROM AFTER THE REPAIRS! IT WAS SCARY - ALMOST DROVE ME INTO A BARRIER! ON 1200 MILE TRIP TO FLORIDA MY CAR OFTEN WOULD HIT THE BRAKES FOR REASONS I COULD NOT TELL OR GO OUT OF THE NORMAL ROAD LINES OR THE ACC WOULD SLOW THE CAR TO A CRAWL FOR TRUCKS IN THE OTHER LANE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER - THEY SAY NPF. ONE GUY DID SAY TO ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY WHICH I DID BUT IT STILL BRAKES WHEN IT SHOULD NOT. MY WIFES CAR DOES NOT REACT THIS WAY.

THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON ON MY 2018 CRV BROKE OFF AS I WAS SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK. I WAS PARKED AT THE TIME, HOWEVER, ONCE IT FALLS OUT THE ONLY WAY TO SHIFT GEARS AGAIN IS TO SHOVE IT BACK IN PLACE. IT DANGLES AND DOESN'T STAY SITUATED IN THE GEAR SHIFT AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T GO BACK IN EASILY. THIS IS UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED WITH A BETTER SOLUTION THAN REPLACING THE BUTTON WITH THE SAME BUTTON.

ON 9/23/19 PARKED THE VEHICLE. SHUT OFF VEHICLE WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALERT ME THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. GOT OUT OF CAR AND DOOR LOCKED LIKE EVERYTHING WAS OKAY - NO OTHER BEEPS OR NOTIFICATIONS. VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND HIT A TREE CAUSING SIGNIFICANT REAR DAMAGE (THANKFULLY DID NOT HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN). BROUGHT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ALTHOUGH I EXPLAINED THAT THE WARNING INDICATORS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. FINALLY ON 10/2/19 I VIDEOTAPED AN INCIDENT WHERE IT DID NOT ALERT ME IN ANYWAY WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LEFT IN THE DRIVE GEAR (IMAGES FROM VIDEO ATTACHED). HONDA STATES EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ENGAGED; HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT FIX THE FACT THAT THE SAFETY NOTIFICATIONS ARE NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED. DEFINITELY A VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE.

I WAS TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON LOCAL HIGHWAY. NO CARS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME FOR A 1/4 MILE. IT HAD RAINED OVERNIGHT AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SLIGHTLY DAMP BUT NO PUDDLES. I WAS CROSSING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR'S 'BRAKE' ALARM (FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM) FALSELY TRIGGERED ON THE DASHBOARD AND INSTANTLY SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES AND BROUGHT MY 2018 CRV TO A DEAD STOP. MY CARGO WENT FLYING FORWARD AND MY HEAD JERKED FORWARD HARD. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. NO CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY BEHIND ME OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE FOR SURE CRASHED INTO MY CAR. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN THAT AFTERNOON. THEY SAID THEY WOULD RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT. THEY CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THAT THERE "WERE NO TROUBLE CODES STORED IN THE VEHICLE". THEY SAID THEY "CONTACTED HONDA AND THERE WERE 'NO KNOWN ISSUES' AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR ME". THEY SUGGESTED I TURN OFF THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM IF I WAS CONCERNED. THIS IS CRAZY AND HAZARDOUS. THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT PUT ME (AND OTHERS) IN DANGER LIKE THIS. THANK GOD MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. I PRAY THEY AREN'T WHEN THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME SORT OF RECALL OR WARNING REGARDING THIS.

I WAS DRIVING SATURDAY 27, 2019 ABOUT 9:00 AM IN THE PULASKI SKYWAY IN NEW JERSEY THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL THE DISPLAY WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON AND OFF UNTIL THE CAR STALL AND THE ENGINE JUST STOP WORKING BUT THE WARNING LIGHTS( EVERY SINGLE ONE) JUST KEPT GOING ON AND OFF. I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING AS YOU MAY KNOW THE PULASKI SKYWAY HAS NOT PLACE TO PULL OVER, YOU CAN IMAGINE THE TRAFFIC JAM THAT MY BROKE DOWN CAR CAUSE. THE WEEKEND OF THE 07/21/2019 I HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE CABIN AND WHEN I CHECK THE OIL DIPSTICK IT WAS OVERFILL AND HAD THE STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE I CALLED THE DEALER PLANET HONDA AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING MY CAR TO CHECK ON 07/25/2019, THE SAME DAY THE DEALER CALLED ME AND SAID THAT IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AND THE OVERFILL ENGINE OIL WAS NORMAL. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE ON DRIVING MY HONDA CRV ANYMORE. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 06/15/2019 WITH 5,300 MILES ON IT.

I WAS DRIVING FROM VIRGINIA BEACH, VA TO MIDLOTHIAN, VA ON STATE 288 NORTH (WWII VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50-60 MPH FAR LEFT LANE. I WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL. SUDDENLY SMOKE STARTED TO APPEAR FROM WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE HOWEVER, I QUICKLY REALIZED IT WAS FROM MY VEHICLE WHAT APPEARED FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN, PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND MOVED TO THE FAR-RIGHT SHOULDER JUST SHORT OF MILE MARKER 10. I WAS TRAVELING WITH A COWORKER AND WE BOTH EXISTED THE VEHICLE AND WHITE SMOKE IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO FILL THE INTERIOR FROM THE SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. WE CLOSED BOTH DOOR AND STARTED TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ALONG THE SHOULDER. WE BOTH KNELT DOWN TO SEE WHAT APPEARED TO BE FIRE DRIPPING FROM THE UNDERSIDE TO THE ASPHALT. AT THIS POINT IN TIME WE STARTED TO SEE FLAMES COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BEGIN TO ENGULF THE CARE IN LESS THAN 10 MIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 FROM MY COWORKERS' PHONE BECAUSE LEFT MINE IN THE VEHICLE AND DARED NOT TO REENTER IT. A PASSERBY WHO HAPPENED TO BE A VOLUNTEER FIREMAN STOPPED AND ATTEMPTED TO USE HIS VEHICLES FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT OUT THE FLAME BUT IT WAS TOO LARGE A FIRE. THE STATE TROOPERS ARRIVED IN ABOUT 10 MIN THEN THE FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVED ABOUT 10 MIN AFTER. BY THEN THE ENTIRE CARE WAS IN DARK BLACK SMOKE WITH FLAMES ALL AROUND IT. WE HEARD SEVERAL EXPLOSIONS WHICH THE FIREFIGHTERS SAID WERE MY TIRES AND AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CANISTERS. THE FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH A FOAM AGENT AND PROCEEDED TO CHECK FOR REMAINING HEAT. NO INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO US STOPPING DUE TO SEEING THE SMOKE. THIS VEHICLE IS SERVICED AT THE NORMAL INTERVALS BY PRIORITY HONDA IN CHESAPEAKE, VA WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND I'VE NO ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.
AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN RANDOMLY STARTS FLASHING AND BEEPING. WITH THE BRIGHTNESS CONTROL BAR POPPING UP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A BIG SAFTEY ISSUE FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT FOR SOMEONE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY I BELIVE IT MAY HAPPEN WHEN THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED AND THE CAR HAS AN ANDROID PHONE ATTACHED HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. MY VEHICLE HAS 8000 MILES ON IT. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE REPORT ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS HAS HAPPEND TO OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. I REPORTED THIS BY TELEPHONE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT HONDA AS WELL 0N 05/30/2019 . I ALSO HAD AN ISSUE THAT ONETIME THIS WINTER I STARTED THE CAR AND THE SUNROOF AUTOMATICALLY OPENED AND COULD NOT BE CLOSED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RAINING OR SNOWING THAT DAY. THERE SEEMS TO BE A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE.

MAY 5, 2019, CLEAR DAY, 4:30P, HEADING EAST (SUN BEHIND), NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC FAR BEHIND. FIVE LANE ROAD - TWO LANES EACH DIRECTION AND A MIDDLE TURN LANE -- AND STRAIGHT IN THIS AREA. TURNED RIGHT ONTO THE ROAD FROM AN INTERSECTION AND GOT UP TO SPEED. THE WARNING SOUND FROM THE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM BEEPED THREE TIMES WHILE THE BRAKES WERE HARSHLY APPLIED CAUSING LIGHT SKIDDING IN DRY CONDITIONS. THEN THE BRAKES WERE JUST AS SUDDENLY RELEASED. HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY AND WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF I WAS IN TRAFFIC. MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKING FORCE MADE ME PUSH THE PEDAL MORE. EXTREMELY UNSAFE INCIDENT. THE REAR CENTER AND REAR LEFT PASSENGER SEATBELT LATCH REQUIRES FOR THE TWO SEATBELTS TO BE ENTANGLED TOGETHER TO BE LATCHED. IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THEY CANNOT BE USED IN TANDEM, WHICH MEANS THAT ONLY TWO OCCUPANTS CAN BE SAFELY TRANSPORTED IN THE REAR.
I WAS DRIVING TO GET LICENSE RENEWED WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO COAST. THE ENGINE WAS ON AND I HAD TO GUN IT TO PICK UP SPEED. I TURNED AROUND AND HEADED FOR THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. UPON GETTING THERE ALL SYSTEMS WERE LIT UP MAINTENANCE WISE AND SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE UNDERSIDE WHERE THE BRAKES ARE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID WHEN SHE WENT AROUND THE CAR THAT IT WAS SO HOT IT WOULD HAVE BURNED HER. SERVICE TECH SAID LEFT FRONT BRAKES EXTREMLY HEATED AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE AREA. FOUND BRAKES HAVE GOTTEN HOT. CLEARED CODE PRESENT C0040-12. BRAKE SWITCH STUCK ON. I ADVISED NEVER USED HOLD BRAKE UNLESS I WAS SITTING ON STEEP HILL. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA CRV EX ON 12/31/18. PLEASE SEE MY LETTER (ATTACHMENT.. I FIRST NOTICED MY TRUNK WAS NOT ALIGNED, SO I HAD TO BRING IT BACK TO BE REALIGNED. I QUICKLY NOTICED BLUETOOTH WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. PEOPLE KEPT TELLING ME THEY COULDN'T HEAR ME OR I SOUNDED LIKE I WAS UNDER WATER OR HALF THE WORDS WERE MISSING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHANGED THE MICROPHONE AND FOR A DAY OR SO IT SEEMED BETTER. HOWEVER, AFTER THAT, NOW I CAN HARDLY HEAR OTHER PEOPLE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE A FAX MACHINE OR BREAKS OFF THE CALL SO I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING. IF IT DOES FUNCTION, PEOPLE STATE THEY CAN BARELY HEAR ME OR UNDERSTAND ME. I TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THEIR IT DEPARTMENT STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AS YOU READ THE LETTER, YOU WILL SEE THAT HONDA HAS TURNED THIS ISSUE ONTO THE BUYERS. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM , THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I SENT A LETTER TO CORPORATE IN CALIFORNIA AND WALTER(THE REGIONAL MANAGER OF ILLINOIS) CALLED ME BACK AGAIN. HE SAID HE WORKS IN CALIFORNIA? WE WENT AROUND AND AROUND ABOUT THE SAME THINGS HE TOLD ME PER OUR LAST CALL. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHONES THEY HAVE LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE. I HAVE THE LATEST SAMSUNG NOTE. THE ONLY ONE THEY HAVE LISTED IS A NOTE 2 WHICH IS FROM 2012. I CANNOT BELIEVE HONDA, WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGY THEY HAVE, CANNOT HELP ALL THE PEOPLE THAT OWN THESE NEW/USED VEHICLES?? I AM SO ASTOUNDED THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THESE CARS. WALTER TOLD ME TO KEEP CHECKING BACK ON THE WEBSITE BECAUSE THINGS GET UPDATED MONTHLY. I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY CHANGES. I WILL BE WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THEM TO CATCH UP TO SAMSUNG NOTE NEWER PHONES IF THEY ARE ONLY ON 2012 PHONES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THERE NEED TO BE A RECALL.

HONDA'S SENSING SYSTEM RANDOMLY DISPLAYS INVALID WARNING MESSAGES. THIS IS THE RADAR/CAMERA SYSTEM THAT MONITORS CARS SPEED, BRAKING, DISTANCES, CRUISE CONTROL, ETC. THIS IS A RANDOM ISSUE THAT OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (45 TO 65MPH). WARNING LIGHTS COME ON STATING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES, SPEED CONTROLS, ETC. THE MAIN SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT SYSTEM TELLS YOU THAT YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR BRAKES, AND YOU HAVE NO WAY OF KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT. YOU ARE FORCED TO PULL OVER IN TRAFFIC AND UNDERSTAND IF THERE IS A PROBLEM OR NOT. I UNDERSTAND THAT IF IT IS SNOWING, HEAVY RAIN, HEAVY DUST, OR THE SENSORS ARE BLOCKED IN ANY WAY, A WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THE WARNINGS COME ON RANDOMLY ON A SUNNY OR CLOUDY DRY DAY WHERE THERE SHOULD BE NOTHING THAT SETS THE SENSORS OFF. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, YOU MUST STOP THE CAR, PLACE IT IN PARK AND THEN THE ALARMS CLEAR. THIS SYSTEM IS NOT RELIABLE AND CAN NOT BE TRUSTED, PLUS HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER, AND PER HONDA INFORMATION, COULD RANDOMLY STOP THE CAR WHEN THERE IS NOT REAL PROBLEM (I.E. SET THE BRAKES AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR NO REASON). FALSE WARNING LIGHTS DISTRACT THE DRIVER AND COULD LEAD TO A COLLISION WHILE DRIVING OR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TRYING TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS TRULY A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. SHOULD SYSTEM STOP THE CAR FOR NO REASON, IT COULD CAUSE A COLLISION. THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR WITH THIS VEHICLE.

I HAVE TO KEEP PULLING OVER TO SCRAPE WINDOWS DURING STORMS. ALSO FEBRUARY 14 I NOTICED MY ENGINE RAPPING BADLY. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALER. MY ENGINE OIL WAS 1 INCH OVER THE HIGH FILL LINE. HONDA CORPORATE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL ME THAT IT'S 100% NORMAL AND FINE, AND OIL DILUTION IS NORMAL AND FINE. MY ENGINE IS RAPPING BADLY, I HAVE HAD COWORKERS WHO ARE ASE CERTIFIED LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THAT'S ENGINE DAMAGE AND THE ENGINE WILL FAIL AND PROBABLY SOON. MY OIL WAS LAST CHANGED 1600 MILES AGO, AND IN THAT TIME IT GOT 1 INCH OVER FILLED, GASOLINE IS IN MY OIL NOW. HONDA DENIES THE HEAT AND THE OIL DILUTION. CAR TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS NOT HEATING UP PROPERLY. IN COLD WEATHER WHEN IDELING WOULD NOT MOVE FROM COLD POSITION, THEREFORE PRODUCE NO HEAT. WHEN DRIVING IT AT 35MILES AN HOUR GAUGE WOULD GO UP SOME ,AND WHEN SLOWING TO 25 MILES GAUGE WOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO COLD, WITH NO HEAT. CAR WOULD ALSO STALL AFTER IT WAS STARTED AND LEFT IN PARK WHEN I WOULD GET IN TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. THIS WOULD ALL HAPPEN DURING COLD WEATHER. HONDA DID THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY FOUND THE GAS AND OIL MIXTURE PROBLEM. DID AN OIL CHANGE AND DID THE RECALL UPDATE ON CONTROL PANEL AND SOFTWARE.GOT THE CAR BACK AND IT IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DROPPING DOWN TO COLD AND LOSS OF HEAT,WHEN DRIVING SHORT TRIPS. HONDA SAID THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT.

WHEN YOU PULL DIPSTICK OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS, ALSO STRONG ODOR OF GAS IN CABIN WHILE DRIVING! IT MAKES ME SICK SO YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER SOMETIMES ON BUSY HIGHWAY FOR SMELL TO STOP. I KNOW IT IS SOFTWARE ISSUE IN HONDA COMPUTER, CHINA AND CANADA ALREADY RECALL 650.000 HONDA CRVS HEAT DOESN'T WORK PROPER EITHER, GOING FROM WARM TO COLD REALLY FAST, TOOK MY 11 MONTHS OLD TO HONDA THEY SAID IS NORMAL SMELL GAS IN OIL. I HAVE THEIR OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON PAPER. NOT SURE WHY NOTHING IS DONE. IT HAS TO BE HARD ON ENGINE ALL THIS GAS IN OIL CHAMBER.
SMELL OF GAS EVERY TIME I ENTER THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW HOURS GAP. ESPECIALLY OVERNIGHT.
CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING BRAND NEW 2018 HONDA CRV VOYAGER REGARDING OIL DILUTION. THE COMPANY SAYS THAT THE GAS SMELL ON THE VEHICLES OIL DIP STICK IS "NORMAL." THEY ALSO STATED THAT IF THE OIL LEVEL IS TOO HIGH AN INTERIOR LIGHT OR ENGINE NOISE WOULD INDICATE AN ISSUE. MEANING THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS ARBITRARY.

MY 2018 HONDA CRV TOURING WITH 1.5L TURBO ENGINE HAD HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SMELL OF FUEL FUMES IN THE INTERIOR CABIN SINCE THE TIME OF PURCHASE. WHEN YOU TURN THE AIR ON WITH THE AIR COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE VENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, THE SMELL OF GASOLINE FUMES IS APPARENT, WHICH IS ALSO A SERIOUS HEALTH SAFETY CONCERN AS INHALATION OF FUMES IS DEFINITELY BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH. EVERY TIME I CHECK MY OIL LEVEL, THE DIPSTICK SHOWS THE OIL IS OVERFILLED BEYOND WHAT THE DIPSTICK MEASURES AND THE OIL SMELLS HEAVILY OF GAS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY 5TH GENERATION CRV OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE 1.5L TURBO ENGINE WITH TOO MUCH GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL AND THE SMELL OF FUMES IN THE CABIN. THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING MY OIL LEVEL TO RISE TO UNSAFE LEVELS THAT WILL ACCELERATE THE DETERIORATION OF EXPENSIVE INTERNAL ENGINE COMPONENTS. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY PERFORMED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLITEN RELATED TO THIS ISSUE ON DECEMBER 4TH 2018, WHERE A MODULE RELATED TO THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE ENGINE OIL AND SOME SOFTWARE UPGRADE WAS INSTALLED. THIS CHANGED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I STILL AM EXPERIENCING THE SICKENING SMELL OF GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN AS WELL AS THE DIPSTICK SHOWING MORE OIL THAN IT CAN MEASURE ALONG WITH THE SMELL OF GAS COMING FROM THE OIL.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR JUNE 2018. IT WAS PERFECT. EVERYTHING WORKED FLAWLESSLY. THEN JANUARY 3 I HAD A TSB PERFORMED ON THE CAR, NOW MY MPG'S HAVE DROPPED BY 10MPG. AND I HAD NO ISSUE WITH HEAT BEFORE, AND NOW I DO. START THE CAR, WITHIN 2 MILES I HAVE HEAT. 20 MINUTES INTO MY JOURNEY, THE CENTER VENTS ON THE DASH START BLOWING COLD AIR. DOES NOT MATTER HOW MUCH I TURN UP THE HEAT DIAL, IT CONTINUES TO BLOW COLD AIR FROM THE CENTER VENTS FROM THAT POINT IN THE TRIP FORWARD. IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CALLED HONDA TECH LINE AND HONDA TECH LINE CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL. IT IS NOT NORMAL AND THE CAR WAS NOT DOING THAT PRIOR THIS TSB BEING DONE ON MY CAR. EVEN THE DEALERSHIP AGREES WITH ME IT'S NOT NORMAL AND SOMETHING IS WRONG, BUT TECH LINE TOLD THEM TO TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG. THIS IS WILDLY UNACCEPTABLE AND YOU NEED TO STEP IN. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HONDA IS DOING THIS TO! IN CHINA A STOP SALE WAS FORCED BY CONSUMERS BECAUSE THE CRV IS DEFECTIVE. WHY ISN'T THE USA DOING SOMETHING TO HELP US????
Mileage: 8,039
THERE IS A STRONG GAS SMELL IN THE CABIN AND AROUND THE CAR. THE SMELL IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN IDLING AND AFTER PARKING. DURATION OF THE TRIP DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR, NOR THE STREET TYPE.
Mileage: 7,000
MY CR-V 2018 DOESN'T RUN SMOOTH AND THE ENGINE IS NOISEY BUT THE BIG PROBLEM HAPPENED 12/08/18 WHEN I PARKED THE CAR TO UNLOAD GROCERIES WHEN ONE HOUR LATER I WENT TO START IT THE CABIN FILLED WITH THE STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I SPOKE TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE AND HAVE THE DEALERSHIP PICK IT UP.
Mileage: 197
THE HONDA CR-V HAS A OPTIONAL BACKUP SENSOR OPTION WHICH DOES NOT PERFORM TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. IT DOES NOT PROVIDES NECESSARY ADEQUATE WARNING TO PREVENT BACKING UP INTO A VEHICLE OR PERSON. THE BACK UP SENSOR HAS WARNING BUZZER THAT CAN NOT BE HEARD OVER NORMAL CONVERSATION OR A RADIO. THE SYSTEM I WAS TOLD HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR SEVERAL YEARS LET HONDA IS STILL INSTALLING THIS INADEQUATE WARNING SYSTEM. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOUR SELF. I RAISE THIS SAFELY ISSUE WITH MY HONDA DEALER AND HONDA EXECUTIVE OFFICER IN CHARGE OF ENGINEERING.
Mileage: 2,200
OIL BECOMES DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. OIL LEVEL EXCEEDS MEASURE INDICATOR. GAS SMELL PENETRATES THE CABIN. GAS SMELL ALSO IN OIL. NOT SURE WHEN IT BEGAN TO OCCUR.
Mileage: 13,000
PURCHASED A HONDA CRV 2018 IN JULY. IN OCTOBER, THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, COLLISION MITIGATION, AND BRAKE SYSTEM WARNINGS/ERRORS WERE FLASHING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS WOULD CAUSE CONSTANT BEEPING BECAUSE OF THE WARNINGS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION. DEALER AT END OF OCTOBER REPLACED THE CAMERA UNIT IN THE WINDSHIELD. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE SO FAR.
Mileage: 2,941
FUEL IS MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL CAUSING THE OIL LEVEL TO BECOME HIGH AND THE OIL DILUTED. ON SHORT COLD TRIPS, THE CAB SMELLS OF GASOLINE. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED BY THE DEALER AND NOT EVEN 300 MILES LATER, THE OIL LEVEL IS HIGH AGAIN AND THE OIL SMELLS OF GASOLINE. ADDITIONALLY, MY CR-V DOES NOT HEAT UP PROPERLY. WHEN STARTED COLD, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ON THE DASH NEVER COMES OFF OF COLD, NO MATTER HOW LONG IT IDLES. IT TAKES AT LEAST 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING TO REGISTER HEAT. WHEN I REMOTE START MY CAR ON COLD DAYS, IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY HEAT UP THE CAR.
2018 HONDA CR-V EX. SINCE I PURCHASED NEW EXCESS IN JAN 2018 FUEL IS GETTING INTO THE CRANKCASE AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL. HAVE TO CHANGE MY OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES. SENT SEVERAL OIL SAMPLES FROM MY CR-V TO A LAB AND IT COMES BACK HIGHLY DILUTED WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE PREMATURE ENGINE DAMAGE. ALSO, DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN TEMPS ARE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND BELOW MY CR-V CANNOT HOLD A NORMAL ENGINE TEMPERATURE WHEN GOING DOWNHILL OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS TURN CAUSES MY WINDSHIELD TO ICE OVER CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROADS. I HAVE CONTACTED AND VISITED MY HONDA DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. HOW CAN MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS HAVE THESE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS AND NOTHING BE WRONG? I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HONDA MOTOR CORPORATION AND MY DEALER. I HAVE PURCHASED 4 NEW HONDA VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND THIS WILL CERTAINLY BE MY LAST. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER FOR SURE.

STRONG GAS SMELL IN PASSENGER CABIN. GAS MIXING WITH ENGINE OIL. CONSEQUENTLY ENGINE OIL LEVELS RISING VERY HIGH.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH NO OTHER CARS IN FRONT OF OR BESIDE ME WHEN SUDDENLY I HARD A LOUD CRASH AND SAW IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR DEBRIS COMING OFF OF MY CAR. I PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT MY SUNROOF HAD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. THANKFULLY I HAD THE LIGHTSHADE CLOSED SO NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE WAS INJURED. I'M AN ALSO GRATEFUL THERE WAS NOT A VEHICLE BEHIND MINE TO CATCH THE DEBRIS AND POSSIBLY INJURE ADDITIONAL PERSONS.
Mileage: 1,780
THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS PARKED IN MY CARPORT ON OCTOBER 7, 2018 AND WHEN WE STARTED TO CHURCH WE DISCOVERED THAT THE TAILGATE GLASS WAS SHATTERED AND HAD PARTIALLY FALLEN OUT.
Mileage: 800
THERE IS GAS IN THE OIL. DASHBOARD CONTROLS ARE SHUTTING OFF , A STRONG SMELL OF GAS I. CABIN.REMOTE START WONT WORK

THE HANDS FREE PHONE FEATURE HAS ESSENTIALLY BEEN UNUSABLE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW IN NOVEMBER 2017. THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END OF THE CALL HEARS SO MUCH DISTORTION, BACKGROUND NOISE, AND ACOUSTIC FEEDBACK THAT THEY CANNOT HEAR WHAT I AM SAYING, WORSENING THE FASTER THE CAR IS GOING. HAVE HAD THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES. THEY HAVE 'UPDATED THE SOFTWARE' AND REPLACED THE MICROPHONE WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE DEALERSHIPS DO NOT SEEM TO KNOW HOW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, AND THERE HAS BEEN NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO THEM FROM HONDA. HANDS FREE IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE. I HAVE HAD A TICKET OPEN WITH HONDA ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE MAY 2018 AND HAVE SUBMITTED A FORMAL COMPLAINT THROUGH HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. HONDA HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE TO THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY PURCHASERS OF THESE NEW VEHICLES WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. PLEASE NOTE COMMENTS ON THE CARGURUS.COM BLOG, TITLED 'HANDS FREE BACKGROUND NOISE.'
THE MECHANICAL DESIGN OF THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER (JOYSTICK, AS I CALL IT) IS SUCH THAT IT REQUIRES TOO LITTLE PRESSURE IN ORDER TO BE PUSHED FORWARD WHICH ACTIVATES THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. IN SIMPLE TERMS, USING THE TURN SIGNALS TURNS ON THE HIGH BEAMS ACCIDENTALLY ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAUSES A COUPLE SAFETY ISSUES. FIRSTLY, OTHER DRIVERS AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC COULD BE UNNECESSARILY BLINDED BY HIGH BEAMS IF I HAVE NOT NOTICED THAT MY HIGH BEAMS HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTALLY TURNED ON. SECONDLY, IT CREATES A SITUATION WHERE I (DRIVER) HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME LOOKING AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAN IS NECESSARY. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, I EITHER HAVE TO ADDITIONALLY GLANCE AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR TAKE A LONGER GLANCE WHILE CHECKING MY SPEED IN ORDER TO KNOW IF THE HIGH BEAMS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED ACCIDENTALLY. TURN SIGNAL JOYSTICKS HAVE BEEN AROUND LONGER THAN I HAVE, AND WE ALL KNOW HOW TO USE THEM. THEY ARE SIMPLE, BASIC SAFETY FEATURES AND THERE SEEMS NO REASON WHY A MANUFACTURER SHOULD BOTCH THESE AT THIS POINT. DATE OF INCIDENT LISTED DATE THAT I TOOK POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, AS THIS IS ONGOING ISSUE.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE,APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND WAS ONLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER.
Mileage: 7,300
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE "COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM" ACTIVATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HONDA OWNERS MANUAL STATES THIS HAS 3 STAGES OF WARNINGS. THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT WAS DEFINITELY A STAGE 3 WARNING. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 40-45 MPH ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD WITH THE CLOSETS VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME PROBABLY A 1/4 MILE AHEAD. THE CAR ALL OF SUDDEN BRAKED VERY HARD FOR NO REASON TO THE POINT IT ACTUALLY THREW ME FORWARD IN THE SEAT, ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND HAD A CAR BEHIND ME BEEN CLOSER, THEY LIKELY WOULD HAVE REAR ENDED ME. THIS IS THE SECOND SUCH INCIDENT I'VE HAD WITH THE VEHICLE AND FEEL IT CAUSES A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION.
Mileage: 12,000
I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD CRV. SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN FEB 2018, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE BLUETOOTH HANDS-FREE CALLING FUNCTION. I CAN HEAR CALLS FINE, BUT THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END CANNOT HEAR ME DUE TO BACKGROUND/AMBIENT NOISE. THE ISSUE IS SPECIFICALLY EXACERBATED BY SPEED - 40 MPH AND ABOVE, GETTING WORSE AS I DRIVE FASTER. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO FIDDLE WITH MY PHONE TO TAKE THE CALL OFF BLUETOOTH. OBVIOUSLY NOT IDEAL FOR SAFETY. FURTHERMORE, I MADE A 911 CALL ON JULY 4, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE 911 OPERATOR COULD NOT HEAR ME!! I HAD TO ONCE AGAIN TAKE THE PHONE OFF BLUETOOTH IN ORDER TO BE HEARD. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO HONDA DIRECTLY AND TO MY DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. THE SERVICE CENTER ALSO CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING THE ISSUE, AND WERE ADVISED BY HONDA ENGINEERS TO REPLACE THE MICROPHONE, WHICH THEY HAVE DONE. NEVERTHELESS, THE ISSUE PERSISTS.
Mileage: 5,000
COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED INAPPROPRIATELY WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH, ON A CLEAR DAY, STRAIGHT ROAD WITH NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. "BRAKE" DISPLAYED ON DASH WITH NO WARNING ALERTS AT THE TIME THE FULL BRAKE CAME ON. DRIVER AND PASSENGER THROWN FORWARD, LOCKING SEATBELTS.

RISING OIL LEVEL DUE TO CONTAMINATION OF OIL WITH FUEL AND WATER, 2018 HONDA CRV EX. ON JUNE 18, 2018, WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL, EVERY COMPUTER ASSISTED WARNING UNEXPECTEDLY EVENTED ON THE DASH (HILL ASSIST, ACC, COLLISION MITIGATION, BRAKE SYSTEM, CEL, TPMS, ROAD DEPARTURE, TRACTION, POWER STEERING, VSA), THE CRV IMMEDIATELY AND HARSHLY SELF-BRAKED (OUT OF THE CONTROL OF THE DRIVER). THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT THIS OCCURRED DUE TO THE OIL LEVEL IN THE DIRECT-INJECTED EARTH DREAMS 1.5L REACHING A LEVEL OF 21MM ABOVE THE CURRENT LIMIT (THE RESOLUTION GIVEN BY HONDA TECH-LINE WAS TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER EVERY 500 MILES). HAD MY WIFE BEEN FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE SHE CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED, INJURED AND POSSIBLY KILLED. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE DIRECT-INJECTED 1.5L EARTH DREAMS TURBO ENGINE. HONDA HAS NO FIX FOR IT, AND CAN ONLY RECOMMEND THAT WE CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 500 MILES. TO DATE, SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE ON 6/18/2018, WE'VE HAD THE CRV BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER AN AVERAGE OF EVERY 2 WEEKS (7/5/2018, 7/19/2018, AND 8/3/2018). WE'LL BE RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP BY 8/17/2018 FOR YET ANOTHER OIL AND FILTER CHANGE, THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, WHEN UNDER CRUISE CONTROL, DUE TO THE OIL CONTAMINATION, THE RISING OIL LEVEL, CAUSING THE UNEXPECTED FIRING OF COMPUTER ASSISTED FEATURES.

VEHICLE IS LOCKED OVERNIGHT. KEY FOB IS ON STORAGE HOOK. IN THE MORNING, THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF ARE OPEN WITHOUT DRIVER INTERVENTION. HAPPENS RANDOMLY AT OTHER TIMES AS WELL. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISENGAGE THE "QUICK COOLDOWN" FEATURE WHICH IS SOMEHOW BEING ACTIVATED RANDOMLY WITHOUT DRIVER INTERVENTION. OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN CAR IS PARKED IN PUBLIC AREAS. HONDA DENIES PROBLEM. HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON CARGURUS.COM, SUGGESTING A CHRONIC PROBLEM. IN MY SPECIFIC CASE, REPLACEMENT OF THE KEY FOB SEEMS TO HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM, BUT IT IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD STILL BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO DISENGAGE THIS PARTICULAR FEATURE.
Mileage: 1,000
WENT TO START THE CAR, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION BUT THE KEY DID NOT TURN, I THOUGHT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED ON ME BUT THAT WAS MOT THE CASE, THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE AFTER 5 DAYS STILL REMAINS. THEY EXPLAIN THAT THE KEY CYLINDER COMPONENT IS BAD AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. WAITING FOR THE PART AND ALL LOCKS IN THE CAR HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

PARKED MY CAR AT A EATING ESTABLISHMENT DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM AND HIGH WIND WAS INSIDE ABOUT 10 MINUTES CAME OUT TO FIND ALL MY WINDOWS HALF WAY DOWN AND SUN ROOF OPEN SEATS SOAKED WATER STANDING IN SEATS FLOOR BOARD DASH SPEAKERS SOAKED WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN NO PICTURES WAS RAING TO HARD TO GET THEM WAS TRYING TO GET CAR HOME TO DRY OUT INTERIOR
THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SELECTOR HAS NO INDICATOR ON IT. ADDITIONALLY, DEPENDING ON ANGLE DRIVER IS SITTING, IT APPEARS TO BE IN A DIFFERENT GEAR OR POSITION THAN ACTUAL SELECTION. I HAVE HAD THREE NEAR MISSES DUE TO THIS DESIGN. FROM BEING IN NEUTRAL AND ROLLING DOWN HILL BACKWARDS WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD IT IN DRIVE, TO BEING IN NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF PARK. AFTER 30 YEARS OF DRIVING, THIS IS THE FIRST CAR I'VE DRIVEN THAT HAD NO INFICTATOR TO SHOW WHAT GEAR I WAS IN.

TODAY, I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY AND SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED. VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD AND THERE WAS NO DEBRIS OR IMPACT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS BREAKAGE. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY INFANT SON WHEN THIS OCCURRED. LUCKILY, I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED.

ON DECEMBER 12, 2017 AT ABOUT 4:30 PM, THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AND PUT MY CAR INTO A PANIC STOP WHEN I WAS NOT ABOUT TO HAVE A COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DRIVING EAST ALONG A 4 LANE UNDIVIDED HIGHWAY IN THE RIGHT LANE (SLOW LANE) AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THAT WAS GREEN. THERE WAS A CAR AHEAD OF ME IN THE SLOW LANE AT THE SIGNAL, SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. I WAS 5 OR 6 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THIS CAR AND IN NO DANGER OF COLLIDING WITH HIM. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, MY CAR APPLIED THE BRAKES IN A FULL PANIC STOP. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THERE WAS NO COLLISION WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES, BUT MY RIGHT HIP AND LOWER RIGHT BACK WERE SORE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND TO THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE CAR. ON THE DEALER'S SUGGESTION, I SET THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING DISTANCE TO "SHORT"; IT HAD BEEN SET AT "NORMAL", THE FACTORY SETTING. MOST DAYS I MANUALLY TURN THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM OFF BEFORE I DRIVE, BUT ON THE DAYS I HAVE FORGOTTEN, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RE-OCCURRED WITH THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING DISTANCE SET TO "SHORT". I BELIEVE THAT IF THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, HE MAY HAVE COLLIDED WITH THE BACK OF MY CAR AND CAUSED ME FURTHER INJURY. I THOUGHT FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS, I SHOULD REPORT THIS PROBLEM TO YOU.

HAD BACKUP SENSORS INSTALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP, JENKINS &WYNN; CLARKSVILLE, TN. THE BACK UP SENSOR BEEP VOLUME IS SO LOW THAT THEY ARE INAUDIBLE TO MYSELF. MY WIFE CAN BARELY HEAR THE BEEPS. THE SENSORS CANNOT BE HEARD AT ALL IF THE VEHICLE AUDIO IS TURNED UP AT ALL. THE BACKUP SENSORS USER'S INFORMATION MANUAL DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY WARNING STATING THE BEEP VOLUME IS EXTREMELY LOW/INAUDIBLE TO HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE. ALSO, THE MANUAL ALSO DOES NOT STATE THAT WHEN THE BACKUP SENSORS ARE ACTIVATED, THAT THE AUDIO IS NEITHER MUTED OR LOWERED SO THE DRIVER CAN HEAR THE BEEPS. DRIVERS MAY BE ACCUSTOMED TO OTHER VEHICLES BACK UP SENSORS SYSTEMS THAT LOWER RADIO VOLUME AND HAVE BEEPS LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD BY ALL DRIVERS, INCLUDING HEARING IMPAIRED. I BELIEVE THAT ON TOP OF THE FACT THAT HONDA IS DECEIVING CUSTOMERS WHO ARE EXPECTING STANDARD BACKUP SENSOR ACTIVITY; SUCH AS LOUD/AUDIBLE BEEPS OR THE LOWERING OF THE VEHICLES AUDIO VOLUME WHEN THE SENSORS ARE ACTIVATED; THERE ARE NO WARNINGS IN THE MANUAL ALERTING DRIVERS TO THESE NON-INDUSTRY STANDARDS. I BELIEVE THESE FAILURES TO NOTIFY DRIVERS/OWNERS MAY CAUSE TO UNSAFE CONDITIONS DURING BACKING THAT CAN SERIOUSLY INJURE OR CAUSE THE DEATH OF SOMEONE DURING BACKING.
TODAY MY WIFE WENT TO CHURCH SHE USED A PURSE THAT IS SMALL AND HAD THE KEY FOB IN A TIGHT OUTER POCKET. SHE NOTICED WHEN SHE CAME OUT THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN AND THE SUNROOF WAS OPEN ! LUCKY IT WAS JUST STARTING TO VERY LIGHTLY RAIN ! I KNOW YOU PRESS UNLOCK AND THEN PRESS AGAIN AND HOLD DOWN TO DO THIS FUNCTION BUT I GUESS THE TIGHT PURSE DID THAT ON ITS OWN. WOULD LIKE TO DISABLE IT IF POSSIBLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE.

RETURNING TO MARYLAND FROM INDIANA IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS ALONG I-70, I-79, I-68 AUTO BRAKING ENGAGED FOR NO REASON AT ALL. ROAD CREWS PLOW WITH BLADE SLIGHTLY ABOVE PAVEMENT POSSIBLY AVOIDING DAMAGE TO RUMBLE STRIP SO WE CAN'T SEE LANE DIVIDER LINES OR EDGE OF ROAD SOLID LINE WHEN ACCIDENTLY TOUCH THE RUMBLE STRIP BRAKES ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY WHEN BEEPS ALONE SHOULD SUFFICE. OTHER TIMES IT APPEARED THE SYSTEM THOUGHT WE WERE ABOUT TO HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION AND AGAIN BRAKED SUDDENLY AND OFTEN. WE THINK THE HEADLIGHTS OF CARS WAY OFF IN THE DISTANCE WHERE TREES NEAR THEM CREATED A KIND OF STROBE EFFECT FOOLED THE SENSORS WHERE EVER THEY ARE. I HAD TO CANCEL ALL SAFETY SYSTEMS TO AVOID MORE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. SOLUTION RECOMMENDED: REQUIRE HONDA TO ALLOW US TO TURN OFF AUTO BRAKING IN BAD WEATHER SO SENSORS DON'T CAUSE PANIC TO DRIVERS NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT'S HAPPENING. WHEN ROADS ARE SLICK AS OURS WERE YOU REALLY DON'T WANT VEHICLES SLIDING OUT OF CONTROL BECAUSE OF A SYSTEM INTENDED TO KEEP US SAFE. I CAN TELL YOU DRIVERS AROUND US THOUGHT WE WERE INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO CAUSE MISCHIEF AND I'M CERTAIN THE ONLY REASON WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENTAL IS BECAUSE I PUT BLIZZAC SNOW TIRES ON MY 2018 CRV TOURING AND KEPT MY THUMB OVER THE CANCEL BUTTON SO I COULD RECOVER QUICKLY BUT EVENTUALLY HAD TO DISABLE ALL THAT BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TOO OFTEN. I GET CRAMPS IN MY LEG WHEN I CAN'T USE CRUISE CONTROL AND I PAID A LOT OF MONEY SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE AND OTHER SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT SIMPLY MADE THIS CAR MORE DANGEROUS. I'M ANGRY, FRUSTRATED AND WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS!!! YES ROADS WERE SLOPPY, SLICK AND TRAVELING BELOW SPEED LIMIT OF 70 BECAUSE OF CONDITIONS. ONLY WHEN WE GOT TO MARYLAND DID CONDITIONS IMPROVE. HAD TO DRIVE 1/3 OF OUR 550 MILE TRIP WITH THESE PROBLEMS HAPPENING DISENGAGING ENTIRELY AFTER HAGAARSTOWN MD. CAN'T TRUST IT.

WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 OVER AN OPEN ROAD WITH NO OVERPASSES IN GEORGIA WITH NO TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 20 CAR LENGTHS, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED. THE CAR HAD 2400 MILES ON IT AND THE SUN ROOF HAD NEVER BEEN OPERATED. THE SKY WAS CLEAR AND THE MORNING TEMP WAS IN THE UPPER 30S. THE ROOF COVER WAS CLOSED. THE GLASS BLEW OUTWARD FROM THE CENTER WITH A TREMENDOUS BANG CAUSING ME TO COME CLOSE TO LOOKING CONTROL. I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS I COULD. MOST OF THE GLASS HAD BLOWN OVER THE CAR ON TO THE ROADWAY. SOME OF THE FRACTURED EDGES BLEW BACK ON TO THE COVER. THIS WOULD HAVE STUCK THE DRIVER, A FRONT SEAT AND REAR SEAT PASSENGER WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE HAD THE INTERNAL COVER NOT BEEN CLOSED. THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL HAD HE BEEN INJURED BY THE GLASS. FORTUNATELY HE WAS DRIVING AT JUST UNDER THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF ROAD WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. THE DRIVER IS A RETIRED ENGINEER. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IS AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE IS CLEARLY A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING ISSUE. IT IS A NEW VEHICLE LESS THAN A MONTH OLD. THE OUTWARD NATURE OF THE EXPLOSION AND LACK OF ANY INDICATION OF FOD SUPPORT THIS. UNLIKE ANY OTHER CAR GLASS FAILURE I HAVE SEEN THIS SMALL PIECE OF GLASS BLEW UP INTO THOUSANDS OF LOOSE PIECES ENDANGERING BOTH OCCUPANTS AND VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. A PHOTO IS ATTACHED.
