* Manual and automatic break - both failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. * It was a collision between 2 cars. Our car break got jammed ,it hit other car. * We visited Envision Honda of Milpitas - Honda dealers. For Multi-Point inspection after incident. I have attached the report. The problem was not reproduced by them, but we faced the issue of break getting jammed and automatic break system not working. I am scared of driving my car in future. * Yes, the vehicle is inspected by Honda dealers and Geico insurance. They are not accepting intermitted break system failure. * There were no warning lamps or messages. Just break stopped working. We were driving in snow mode in Honda CRV. It was snowy road. We were going downhill. And the manual and automatic , both break system failed at the same time * The Honda Dealers didn't share EDR (event data recorder) data to us. They charged us 300$ and did Multi-point inspection and handed over the car back.

I was driving my crv and a deer was in the road. I hit the deer going 40mph. It blew out the whole front of my car, my sensors, headlights, both fenders and my hood are dented. No airbags deployed or any sensors alerted me of the object or leaving the roadway. Also when I hit the deer, I lost all steering on that moment. I had to turn off my car and then back on to get my steering to release.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle and turning the steering wheel to the right or the left, the messages "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem - Please See Your Dealer" and "Lane Keeping Assist Problem - See Your Dealer" were displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred two weeks after the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 750.

I had adaptive cruise turned on and set to 36 mph, a vehicle which was a good distance in front of of me turned left across the oncoming lane and into a parking lot. Even though the car that made the turn was already in the parking lot the car slammed on the brakes. I have the entire incident in video. Of course this problem also exists and is even more dangerous at high speeds. I have complained to Honda USA three times and NHTSA once a few months ago and no response. My daughter who has the same vehicle also experiences these issues. Someone is going to get seriously injured . I’ve had cars behind me almost cause a wreck on the highway because of the slamming on brakes issue . Please advise where I can send the rascal video. It’s a matter of life and death.

Vehicle repeatedly brakes on its own when there are no vehicles in front to avoid. Very dangerous for vehicles behind and me and passengers. Dealer "cannot" reproduce, denies there is a problem despite 1000s of online complaints and NHTSA safety investigation. Incidents occurred within weeks of purchase in December 2023.

I love my 2024 Honda CRV which I purchased in May of 2025. But I need to report this for safety reasons. On September 9, 2025 I was driving south on Sare Road near Davis Road in Bloomington IN at about 30 mph when the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), activated and stopped the car in an instant. It was a rapid, unintended deceleration. The “Brake” message flashed on the dash. This occurred at approximately 7:30 pm, and there was no other traffic around me. No oncoming traffic, no other cars in front of me and thankfully no one following closely behind. There was no collision - however if another car had been behind me they likely would have rear-ended my vehicle. There were no people or animals in the vicinity to cause the CMBS to activate. And I did not inadvertently touch the brake prior to the incident. I was just driving along and suddenly thrown forward and restrained by my seatbelt. I could smell what seemed to be the brakes or tires. I was confused as to why the vehicle stopped. I turned the engine off and checked for traffic, then started the car and continued driving home without further incident. Within a day or two, I stopped in at my dealership ( Andy Mohr Honda) and reported the incident. Today (9/19/25) I was having a transmission fluid service and mentioned the CMBS issue to the technician and he chanced the Settings for CMBS from “far” to “near” and said that should solve the issue and to let them know if it occurs again. My concern is that if it happens again it could result in an accident and cause damage and injury. Especially if I am on the interstate driving at 60 mph.

The issue involves the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) activating without any obstacle present. The first incident occurred in February 2025 at around 11,000 miles while driving on a feeder road at ~25 mph. The vehicle suddenly braked to a complete stop even though the road was clear. There were cars behind me, and although they stopped in time, it created a serious risk of rear-end collision. Had I been traveling at a higher speed and the car braked completely, this could have caused the vehicle to flip or lose control. The second incident occurred on September 4, 2025 at ~13,000 miles while driving on a busy street at approximately 40 mph. The vehicle suddenly braked very hard for no reason, but did not fully stop — instead, it resumed immediately. It felt as if the car “took a screenshot,” braking sharply then continuing. This was especially dangerous since I was traveling at a higher speed, and vehicles behind me could have easily collided with mine. Both incidents put my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk. The vehicle was brought to Gillman Honda on September 16, 2025. The dealer acknowledged the safety concern and kept the car for inspection. On September 19, 2025, the service representative confirmed they had contacted Honda corporate and opened a case because of the seriousness of the issue. The car is still being held at the dealership pending corporate guidance. No warning lights, error messages, or prior alerts appeared before either incident. This appears consistent with a known problem that has been reported by many Honda owners in recent years involving unintended braking by the CMBS system. The defect makes the vehicle unsafe to operate, and at this point we no longer feel safe driving it.

Driver assist systems disable themselves occasionally and seemingly at random. It seems that something is hyperactive or overly sensitive with the system. I have stopped to clean areas where camera is and it doesn't seem to make a difference or helps for a little while and then happens again. Unable to use cruise control for remainder of trip without calling dealership and them telling me to press and hold something to shut off driver assist in order to use cruise control. Another time my front collision warning flashed and disabled my cruise control while I was going down an interstate highway recently at 75 mph. Luckily no one was close behind me. I have no idea what it detected that would have set this off because there was nothing there. Not even a tumbleweed. The weather was somewhat windy and it had rained lightly earlier in the trip but was dry at the time this happened. Another time this past week, the lane departure flashed and did the shimmy with my steering wheel and I was not even outside of a lane. And then when I was on my own road going home and no one was coming I deliberately went outside the center lane and it did nothing. This is getting weird. I don't want to be a statistic. It's getting so I am spooked to drive it on a longer trip! I told the dealership during an oil change today but apparently there isn't much they can do? To me, this is unacceptable and Honda needs to better for it's customers.

The vehicle has occasionally hard decelerated (braked) for no apparent reason. The term seems to be "phantom braking". This has been going on for a while for my wife and me when either of us is driving. My wife doesn't usually use cruise control and I use it most of the time.

There were no cars at least 500 yards in front of me and, luckily, no one behind me. This happened by itself and no cruise control was engaged at the time. I have had this car since October 2023 and this is the first time this has happened. This was a sunny morning with temps in the low 30s. No rain and no snow. I have yet to be able to reproduce this issue and it’s unlikely that I could, since this happened under normal driving conditions. It will generally beep and flash the brake signal a few times if the forward collision warning activates. This time I heard one loud beep, saw a flash of the brake signal, and then the car slammed on the brakes to a complete stop. Luckily, there was no one and no other cars around me as I was on a small road without much traffic. The car is currently at the dealership being evaluated. I have sent a request to the general manager to investigate this situation further than just a basic code run or recreation of the malfunction. I do not feel comfortable driving this car without a clear diagnoses and repair.

There are a few safety issues I've experienced multiple times while driving this car. To the best of my knowledge, there haven't been any warning lamps or indicators on the dash related to these issues. When driving, the car will activate the emergency braking system, braking incredibly hard at freeways speeds and street driving speeds even though there is nothing near or close to the front of the car. The car has braked so intensely that items fly around the car and that both my son and I have experienced back, neck, and shoulder pain from the unexpected/severe braking. The other safety issue I've experienced is the lane departure/keeping sensors going off on the dash and the car pulls itself out of the lane. It seems like the car thinks I've departed the lane and is trying to pull me back into the lane, but, in reality, I am in the lane and the car is pulling itself into the next lane (sometimes even when another car is next to me or approaching). This is a safety concern since it causes swerving and my car could crash into another car or a lane divider if I didn't react so quickly to overpower the automatic lane departure. It's also a recurring issue to have to fight the car to keep it in the lane and makes for very tense driving. The last issue is an electrical one, I believe, related to the infotainment panel. The power on the infotainment system goes off unexpectedly while driving. It sometimes will not power on during start up. If it turns off while driving, sometimes I have to stop, turn off the car, and restart it to get it working again and other times it reboots itself after a minute or a few. All of these issues have happened countless times, as long as I've had the car. I've had it inspected and during the most recent inspection (Sept 2024) they asked me to come in to drive the car so that the issues would be reproduced while the mechanic was sitting in the passenger seat. I was able to reproduce the issues while the mechanic was in the car with me.

I was driving on an empty two lane road going 35-40 mph. The car braked suddenly and the BRAKE warning light came on but no sound. On the way to the service department at the dealership it happened again, only this time I was going 20 mph and in traffic. There was a car in front of me at least 3 car lengths but was moving. I heard the brakes of the car behind me squeal as he avoided hitting me. No sound from my car, the brake light came on, I also put my foot on the brake thinking maybe the car sensed an encroachment I didn’t notice. But there was none, so I released the brake before coming to a complete stop. The service department inspected the system and could not reproduce or confirm any issues. 2024 Honda CR-V VIN [XXX] Phantom Braking Car has experienced phantom braking numerous times since March 2024 when new. Initially occurred within one week of driving the new vehicle. Did not report it to dealer at first as we thought it was something that we were doing, or some sensitivity that the car typically exhibited. At random times car decelerates quickly as if pressing on brakes, or losing engine power (fuel supply, ignition, etc.), or downshifting quickly. After a few seconds car can be accelerated and resumes speed. In virtually every case it has occurred on dry, clear roads with no vehicles or obstructions ahead. Car, cameras and sensors were clean. Occurs when accelerating either slowly or rapidly. Occurs when entering a highway from an ON ramp. Occurs at 10 mph or 70 mph. Driver is not touching the paddle downshifter. Sometimes deceleration occurs multiple times within seconds after the previous - 2 to 3 times. Rapid slowing does not occur when in cruise control, or when manually increasing speed in cruise control. In all cases Red Brake warning light in instrument panel does not flash and there is nothing immediately in front of car. This condition is extremely dangerous, especially when there are vehicles behind, and they are not expecting my vehicle to slow rapidly. Occurs when accelerating to pass a car ahead. Or when trying to accelerate onto a highway to match speed of approaching traffic. We are always in fear of being hit from behind by unsuspecting drivers. We’ve come to expect the hesitation/braking to happen and drive even more defensively. Description of incident: Saturday, [XXX] I was in traffic on I [XXX] near the [XXX] exit in Indiana. It was a stop/go, stop/go event as 6 lanes were going down to 1 lane. I was behind a Kroger semi-truck. I had my foot on the brake. I thought the people next to me had started to move, but then I noticed that I was getting closer to the truck (while my foot was on the brake). I pushed the brakes down further. I felt normal resistance. Nothing happened. I hit the cancel button of the adaptive cruise multiple times on my steering wheel thinking that perhaps my adaptive cruise started my movement. I kept rolling. Kept hitting the brakes wondering why I didn't stop. No beeps went off like they normally do. I rolled into the truck. My adaptive cruise had been set to 70, and I had used it before the incident. It was still on standby, but not green. My odometer was around 9547. This happened around 9:50am. No beeping sounds started or emergency braking happened. I would approximate my speed of hitting around 3-5 mph. I hit the truck. I had tried to switch to neutral and then to park. I could not move the gear shaft. I was hitting the brake hold. Anything to make me stop. Nothing worked, and I hit the truck. I did not move after hitting the truck, maybe one of the things I attempted to do worked. My foot was still on the brake. I pulled over, turned off the car, and restarted it. I have not applied the adaptive cruise since then. I don't know if it had anything to do with the incident, but I'm afraid to use it. If I had been moving at a faster rate, my safety and others would have been at risk. I took the car to the dealership. They provided me with a Honda multi-point vehicle inspection checklist and stated that they couldn't find anything wrong. There is definitely something wrong. The Honda dealership replaced the steering gear box as required by the recent recall. After picking up my vehicle, I noticed that the Blindspot alert system was not working. The cross traffic monitor was not working. The side mirror was not beeping nor lighting up. The arrows and beeping did not occur when vehicles were driving behind me while in reverse. It appears that the sensors/radar had been disconnected or disabled although the dash settings show that they are on. After taking the vehicle back, the dealership lied and said that my 2024 Honda CRV EX had never been equipped with those sensors. They were working perfectly fine before I took the vehicle in. The dealership is denying fraudulent activity and jeopardizing the safety equipment of my vehicle and the safety of myself and others. I bought the EX model specifically because of those standard features. Honda should repair and replace any damaged or removed sensors as a result of the dealers errors and fraudulent activity.

I leased a 2024 CR-V Sport Hybrid in April 2024. And in early October I backed out of a parking spot. When I applied the brakes there was no response and I back into a parked car. No damage was done to it but I had an estimate of $2000.00 to mine since it was on the hatch back door. I didn't report it because I thought it was my fault. But on Friday Nov. 29, 2024 as I was parallel parking I reversed into the spot and straighten out my vehicle. I put it into gear and started moving forward about six feet slowly. When I went to apply the brakes nothing happened again and I hit my wife’s car in front of me. The CR-V Owners Club has reported a similar incident.

When driving along using the cruise control, the vehicle will suddenly act as it is avoiding a collision. The collision warning will show on the dashboard and the car will suddenly slow down to a stop or near stop until I disengage the cruise control and hit the gas pedal. The contact owns a 2024 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that his girlfriend was driving at 65 MPH when the collision avoidance activated and stopped 40 feet before reaching the vehicle in front. The driver noticed a vehicle driving at approximately 50 MPH from the rear and attempted to avoid a collision however the vehicle failed to drive and remained at a halt. As a result, the vehicle was involved in a rear-end collision. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic per the insurance company where it remained and the hatch, body line, hybrid batter, and bumper along with other unknown components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and was pending repairs. No air bags deployed. The contact who was a front passenger sustained a herniated disc, the neck, shoulder, spine, and entire back, and urinary tract injuries. The contact's girlfriend who was the driver sustained whiplash, back, neck, concussion, left arm, shoulder, spine, and right ankle injuries. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and 2 claims were opened. The approximate failure mileage was 25,600.

Car suddenly slows for no reason. No accidents yet. No police reports. Car suddenly slowing for no reason causes driver confusion and can invite rear end collisions from cars behind. Driving 45 mph with cruise control engaged on a two lane road, car suddenly slows to about 20 mph for no reason. It has happened 3 times randomly at about the same spot in one highway and and twice on other highways. Suddenly slowing while passing large vehicles causes driver confusion, invites rear end collisions, and the inability to safely complete the passing of the large vehicle. When driving 65 to 70 mph with cruise control engaged and passing an 18 wheeler, the car randomly suddenly slows to about the speed or the truck when it is about 10 feet from being nose to nose with the truck. Happens every 5th to 10th passing of an 18 wheeler.

All driving assistance features (Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruse Control, ABS and other sensing components) , warning flashing on dashboard and within a second of this message speed drastically reduced to 20mph from whatever speed on running. It does not allow me to escalate but after some time it escalates on its own. Due to reduce of speed suddenly puts me, co- passengers and other vehicles behind on risk of collision or even risk of life and same time unexpected escalation makes driver lose control. These incidents happen thrice even after service center says it fixed. This problem is reported to service center and Honda customer care. Currently the vehicle is with dealer service center.

My wife was driving on a 4 lane road after it was wet. The road is flat but bended to the right. Traveling in the middle lanes, the braking system engaged and the brakes fully locked while she was at a driving speed of 25 mph and the car slid across the lanes as she entered the turn. She said it lasted for about 10 seconds before the brakes disengaged.

Component: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) My car has less than 2,000 miles on it. I have experienced the situation described below 3 times now. Traffic on a freeway/highway slowed down quickly, and I stepped on the brake pedal to slow down quickly but still gradually. However, the collision auto-braking system activated and my car suddenly halted to a stop with plenty of room (about 1 and a half cars length) ahead of me. In 2 of those situations, I can see the car behind me quickly react by swerving into the shoulder. Rather than improve safety, this feature created a dangerous situation. In 1 of these situations, I released the brake pedal to move forward slightly (without stepping on the accelerator) and then stepped on the brake down slightly to slow down; the automatic braking system jerked the car to a stop once again.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Braking occurs absolutely randomly. This happened about 6-7 times starting from about 5500 miles, at absolutely different speeds. I slow down to reduce speed, then the system starts warning with a BRAKE signal and after that suddenly stops, to a complete stop, although this is absolutely not necessary, because the front car is very far. I was hit in the bumper once. I have a video of how it did it on the highway. The last time got into the accident with the car, as the hit didn't make any damage to the car, did not report to police, took the car to dealership, but was advised to change the setting, but it did not change anything still the random braking exist.

I own a 2024 Honda Hybrid Sport CR-V. The automatic emergency brake will engage only after seatbelts have been engaged. If you have not engaged seatbelts and turn the engine off, the emergency brake will not turn on creating a roll away hazard. This happened to me. I jumped in my car, realized that I left something in the house, turned the vehicle off, and without realizing, left the vehicle in neutral. The vehicle rolled out of our garage and struck another car in the neighborhood resulting in at least six thousand dollars in damages. Fortunately, there were no injuries. This needs to be standard in vehicles that do not utilize ignition keys as I am sure I am not alone in that my protocol has long been to take the key out an ignition anytime I exit a vehicle and this is the first time I have owned a vehicle of this type. Our Honda Pilot will automatically place the vehicle in park if someone turns off the ignition, there is no reason for this or, at the very least, an auto emergency brake not to be an option in CR-V regardless of seatbelt actions. This should be a simple software fix.

I was driving down the road, no other vehicles present, no animals in road, road was clear, weather was clear. Going 30 mph and all of a sudden the car automatically slammed on the brakes for no reason what so ever. I am lucky no one was behind me. This is the 3rd time the vehicle did this.

Honda has all these controls on their steering wheel that can accidentally be turned on, even while driving, and have any of those adaptive functions suddenly start working. For example, twice already I was driving and somehow the "Lane Keeping Assistance" turned on. My steering wheel was shaking and I couldnt control it, get it to stop. It frightened me & the first time I pulled over on the side of the road thinking my cars tie-rods have broken. It did it again last night and I was really frightened. My husband reached over & turned it off. He said I must have turned it on while holding the steering wheel. I had another function "Lane Depature warning" turn on when I was trying to switch lanes. I was fighting with the steering wheel. The paddles on the wheel are also a hazard. I reached for the turn signal & hit a paddle. I dont know what the hell these do & I was freaking out thinking what did I just turn on now that we make me lose control of the car. These functions should not be something that can be turned on once the car is started. I have never had any issues with cruise control on any car I own. I really do not like this car. I'm scared. I will need to drive my husbands mercedes because I fear the Honda CRV. I cant return the car. How many people have been in accidents or killed because they functions can turn themselves on without the driver knowing they did. This is not a nuisance, this is a accident waiting to happen. Please, something needs to be done. I spent $40K on a disaster. Thank you

It only happens when I have the car in cruise control mode. The car dramatically slows down for no apparent reason. It has happened 3-4 times in the 3300 miles I have driven the car. It may be related to changing lanes while on cruise control.

I was driving about 25 mph halfway through an intersection with stop lights. The automatic emergency front braking system abruptly engaged and almost brought the car to a stop. I immediately applied the gas pedal to compensate for the braking and was able to keep the car from completely stopping. The car in front of me was about 5 car lengths ahead, moving at a similar pace, and the car behind me was about 4 car lengths away. Luckily, the car behind was able to keep from hitting me.

The Adaptive Cruise Control causes the vehicle to brake when close to another vehicle when in different lanes of traffic on highway/freeway turns. The adaptive cruise does not appear to communicate with the lane departure system and thus doesn't realize other vehicles are in different lanes. This has occurred 3 times in the 2 weeks I have owned the vehicle. The Adaptive Cruise Control does not understand the vehicles are in different lanes causing it to brake for no reason when turning as the radar only points forward. Adaptive Cruise does NOT warn the driver that it is detecting a problem and/or reacting to a detection, it brakes very hard due to thinking the two vehicles are about to collide despite being in different lanes and thus a collision will not happen. Vehicle has not been inspected by dealership, manufacturer, police, or insurance.

Service Manager from the Honda dealer said that the vehicle is still drivable even with warning lights on and that the camera is on back order but the ETA is unknown.

When snow gets on the front Honda logo all safety functions shut down and a screen comes on and says “clean area showing) so I pulled over on the next off ramp and clean the snow and mush off the emblem and with in the next 10mi it comes back on.. this happened to me 4x coming from Fort Wayne Indiana to Noblesville Indiana. Went to the Honda forum and it a common problem. It wasn’t that bad out to be doing this.. No Cruise control No lane departure No auto braking No safety features at all until you clean the front logo

At 10,300 miles, when being serviced at the dealership for an oil change, tire rotation, and two service bulletins, I was informed of an “embedded” code saying the main camera needed replacing. Looking online, Honda has an issue. This seems to be happening frequently.

This hybrid model does not display red brake lights during regenerative braking, at any of the settings. I have have had two occurrences where the driver behind me was apparently not aware that my vehicle was slowing somewhat rapidly, and thus nearly drive into the back of my vehicle. One of those drivers mentioned that they did not see any brake lights even though I was slowing down, approaching an intersection. I can see how this might be a safety issue. IF Tesla can have this function on their cars software then why cannot Honda? My vehicle also has times when I am travelling on straight city streets with no traffic in front of me, where the automatic emergency braking come on quite firmly for a second or two, without any apparent reason. Again, this presents a possible safety hazard to the vehicles behind me who may be following a little closer than they should, and may possible drive in to the back of my vehicle. Again, I am not aware of any brake lights present on my vehicle when this happens. A big improvement would be in the manner in which the radar sees things and makes false applications of this braking system, as well as having teh vehicle brake lights activate when this system decides to engage.
