The problem I have is: There is 3 recalls for my vehicle. One is the urgent as Takata airbags installed. I called local Honda dealer on 6/27/25, they order the part and I received the email stating that part arrived. I called dealer today to schedule a replacement. When I ask how long it will take, lady say about 1/2 day. When I ask if Honda will give me car to drive in that time, she stated No., but I can rent a vehicle for $75. Dealers name: Gary Smith Honda, 225 Miracle Strip SW, Fl., 32548. Is it safe to drive this car?

I WAS TAKING A RIDE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS AND HAD PARKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULDN'T TURN LIKE IT WAS LOCKED, I WAS BY MY SELF, AND IT STARTED RAINING AND MY WINDOW WAS DOWN , I COULDN'T GET AHOLD OF ANYONE WHO COULD COME HELP ME SO I HAD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO START THE CAR A DIFFERENT WAY WHICH I HAD TO USE WHATEVER I HAD HANDY ,,WELL IT TOOK A WHOLE DAY AND MORE FOR ME TO FINALLY GET IT STARTED, WHEN I DID I START SMELLING BURNING , I WAS FREAKING OUT , WHEN I NOTICED IT WAS COMING FROM MY WINDOW SWITCH, I STARTED TRYING TO GET THE FIRE TO STOP AND I SHUT OFF THE CAR. SO I HAD TO TAKE OFF THE PANEL TO GET THE PART OFF SO I COULD GET OFF THE MOUNTAIN. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THAT WAS AN ALREADY KNOWN RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT FIXED SOONER, I DIDN'T LEARN ABOUT IT UNTIL I RECEIVED AN URGENT NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT AIRBAG INFLATOR . NOTHING ACTUALLY "HAPPENED" WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR. MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF, SO I VISITED HENNESSEY HONDA IN WOODSTOCK, GEORGIA, FOR SERVICE. I AM PERPLEXED THAT I NEED TO REPLACE A PASSENGER AIRBAG FOR ALMOST $700. A RECALL WAS ISSUED THREE YEARS AGO, AND I HAD A CANISTER REPLACED ON THE 2007 HONDA FIT, DUE TO A RECALL. LAST WEEK I LOOKED ON THE NHTSA RECALL LIST AND FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL LIST FROM JUNE 27, 2019, AND THE 2007-2008 HONDA FIT IS LISTED. WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN INTO THE LIST, IT INDICATES THAT I HAVE 0 RECALLS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. IF THE AIRBAG PRODUCT WAS DEFECTIVE, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR FOR A NEW ONE. I WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO MAKE SURE NHTSA KNOWS THAT THESE AIRBAGS STILL NEED REPAIRS, AND PERHAPS HONDA SHOULD BE PRESSURED BY NHTSA TO COMPLETE THESE REPAIRS FREE OF CHARGE. THANK YOU.

TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM AMERICAN HONDA. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STEVENS CREEK HONDA ONE MONTH AGO. THE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NEED APPROVAL FROM HONDA TO DO THE RECALL. STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN APPROVAL TO GET THE RECALL DONE. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION?

TAKATA RECALL HONDA REPLACED THE PASSANGER AIRBAG, BUT NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. THEY SAID IT WASN'T A TAKATA INFLATOR. THIS DID NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. TODAY (6/12/18 ) ON THE NEWS THEY SAID MILLIONS OF THE AIRBAGS ARE STILL A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. I JUST WANT THE TRUTH ABOUT MY CAR, WHY WOULD THEY PUT A TAKATA BAG ON ONE SIDE AND SOMETHING ELSE ON THE OTHER????

A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE AT THE RECALL CENTER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONTAL DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SCHEDULING DEPARTMENT REFUSED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE AIR BAG REPLACED. THE DEALER (RICK CASE HONDA, EAST 200TH STREET, EUCLID, OHIO, 216-416-6700) STATED THAT THE FRONTAL DRIVER'S AIR BAG WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG WAS REPLACED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

I RECENTLY WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON WRECK, TOTALING MY CAR. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS A COMPLETE LOSS FROM THE FRONTAL IMPACT. I WAS MOVING FORWARD IN A 45 MPH ZONE, AS SOMEONE RAN A STOP SIGN TO MY RIGHT. I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY, ON THE INSIDE LANE.

I OWN A 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT AND JUST YESTERDAY WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING, I WENT TO START IT TO LEAVE WORK AND THE EPS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND CAR WOULD NOT START. WAS TOLD A FEW THINGS TO TRY; BYPASSING BATTERY CABLES CLEARING THE CIRCUT, CHECKED THE FUSE AND NEITHER WORKED(WORTH A TRY JUST TO SAY WE DID SO WE WOULD KNOW). FINALLY HAD IT TOWED TO AUTOMOTIVE SHOP, LEFT OVER NIGHT ONLY TO FIND OUT THE CAR STARTED RIGHT AWAY WITH NO WARNING LIGHT ON (EPS INDICATOR) FOR THE MECHANIC. THEY DROVE IT AROUND, TURNED OFF, RESTARTED AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. ALSO HOOKED UP TO THEIR CODE TOOL AND NO CODES CAME UP. MY CONCERN HERE IS THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN TO MYSELF, MY 16 YEAR OLD SON, MY 13 YEAR OLD SON RIDING AS A PASSENGER, OR OTHER PASSENGERS WHILE DRIVING (OUR ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION) AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, HARM, INJURY, OR POSSIBLY DEATH TO OURSELVES AND OTHERS AROUND US. TAKATA RECALL: I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET MY PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG FIXED, BUT SINCE I LIVE AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO DROP THE CAR OFF THE NIGHT BEFORE. WHEN I ASKED GUNN HONDA FOR A LOANER CAR, THEY REFUSED. THEY SAID THEY DON'T GIVE LOANERS FOR RECALL REPAIRS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S ONE THAT "DOESN'T AFFECT THE USE OF THE CAR." THEY SAID, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET THIS RECALL DONE. JUST DON'T LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT." I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA (CORPORATE). THE THREE PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH WERE TERRIFIC, AND A LOANER WAS SECURED AT GUNN HONDA AS A RESULT OF CORPORATE'S INTERVENTION. WHEN I ARRIVED AT GUNN HONDA, THE FIRST THING THAT [XXX], MY SERVICE ADVISOR, SAID WAS, "OH, YOU'RE THE ONE WITH THE LOANER. YOU CALLED CORPORATE." HE WENT ON TO SAY, "YEAH, SHE WAS MAD WHEN SHE CALLED." I REPLIED, "I'M NOT SURPRISED. I WAS TOO. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S ALL GETTING TAKEN CARE OF, SO THAT'S GOOD." HE THEN SAID WITH A SMUG SMILE, "WELL, SHE'S IN BIG TROUBLE BECAUSE WE DON'T DO THAT, AND OUR FACTORY REP WAS PISSED THAT SHE GOT YOU A LOANER. SHE'S IN BIG TROUBLE." THE RUDE AND ANTAGONISTIC COMMENTS CONTINUED. HE COMMENTED ON HOW UNNECESSARY IT WAS FOR ME TO GET THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE I "DON'T HAVE TO USE THE PASSENGER SEAT." COMMENTS WERE MADE ABOUT HOW HONDA IS BLAMELESS IN THE AIRBAG RECALL ISSUE AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING EXTRA FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG. I RECEIVED DIRTY LOOKS FROM SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHILE I WAS THERE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I TOOK PICTURES OF THE OUTSIDE OF MY CAR FOR DOCUMENTATION BEFORE LEAVING IT THERE. TODAY I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE CAR WAS READY BUT MY BATTERY IS "NOT REGISTERING WHEN TESTED." I WAS ADVISED TO BUY A NEW BATTERY EVEN THOUGH MINE HAS AT LEAST 40 MONTHS LEFT AND A 40% CREDIT. WHEN I STOPPED BY TO DROP IT OFF THE PERSON AT THE SERVICE TOLD ME THEY NEED TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR THE PART. HE SAID I SHOULD BE GETTING A CALL OR AN EMAIL WHEN IT'S DELIVERED. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I RECEIVED THE NOTICE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. MY CALL WAS TRANSFERRED OVER TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT WHERE I LEFT MY CONTACT INFORMATION AND A WOMAN CALLED ME A FEW DAYS LATER STATING SHE WOULD ORDER THE PART AND CONTACT ME WHEN IT CAME IN. HONDA WILL SEND YOU ANOTHER LETTER WHEN PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE." WE NEVER RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER, BUT HEARD FROM A FRIEND THAT SHE CALLED HER DEALER AND GOT THE REPLACEMENT INSTALLED. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALER WHO INSTALLED A REPLACEMENT OCTOBER 13TH. HOWEVER, I SUSPECT THAT OTHER PERSONS ARE WAITING FOR ANOTHER LETTER FROM HONDA AND HAVE NOT HAD A REPLACEMENT YET.

IT ALSO STATED TO NOT ALLOW ANY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL THE REPAIR WAS MADE. I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO GET THE PART. IT HAS BEEN 90 DAYS SINCE I CALLED AND MADE THE REQUEST. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH HONDA NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PART FRO MY CAR. THE NOTICE I RECEIVED SAID I COULD FIE A COMPLAINT AFTER 60 DAYS AND I DECIDED TO GIVE THEM SOME ADDITIONAL TIME BEFORE MAKING THE COMPLAINT. I AM TIRED OF WAITING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT. IT HAS BEEN A REAL INCONVENIENCE.

I CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE IN. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DID NOTHING EITHER. COMPLETELY KEPT IN THE DARK, MY CAR WAS REAR ENDED THIS WEEKEND, LUCKILY THE PASSENGER AIRBACK DID NOT DEPLOY OR MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.

I CALLED AGAIN ON AUGUST 20TH AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO TIME IN THE FUTURE WHEN THIS WOULD BE FULFILLED. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE, AND WE DO NOT HAVE ROOM TO DRIVE SAFELY IN IT.

I CALLED AGAIN ON 8/25 AND THEY STATED PART WAS ORDERED ON 7/19 (MORE THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER MY INITIAL REQUEST) AND IS STILL NOT IN. THIS DELAY IS CAUSING SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS AS I CANNOT TRANSPORT ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS! STILL NO WORD ON TIMING OF REPAIR. VERY FRUSTRATING .

I HAVE WAITED A WEEK NOW WITHOUT A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEPARTMENT I WAS INSTRUCTED TO CALL AND I AM NOT BEING ABLE TO SAFELY USE MY VEHICLE. NHTSA RECALL 16V-344 REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG ON MY VEHICLE WAS ISSUED ON MAY 23, 2016. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (HONDA CARS OF ROCK HILL (SC)) THAT THE BAGS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BUT ON ORDER. IN JULY, 2016, I RECEIVED FROM AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY A NOTICE OF THE RECALL INCLUDING THE STATEMENT,"HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED." I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT I WAS "ON A WAITING LIST." ON AUGUST 16, I AGAIN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY "HAVE NO IDEA" WHEN THEY WILL BE. TODAY, AUGUST 17, I SPOKE WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND A REPRESENTATIVE SAID, "NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE." IF NO ONE IN HONDA KNOWS WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE THEN IT IS CONCEIVABLE THAT THEY NEVER WILL BE. IT IS UNREALISTIC AND IMPRACTICAL (AND UNSAFE) TO ASSUME THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT BE USED UNTIL SOME DATE NO ONE IN HONDA KNOWS.

I DROVE INTO MY DRIVEWAY TO PARK IN OUR CAR PORT. AS I APPROACHED THE CAR PORT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT IT DID NOT EVEN SLOW DOWN. 2007 HONDA FIT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL AIRBAG REPAIRS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE FOR THREE SAFETY RECALLS. THE RECALL WAS INTENDED TO ADDRESS THE FRONT AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS. THE DEALER PERFORMED A $98 DIAGNOSTIC AND SPENT OVER TWO HOURS TRYING TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. ALONG WITH THE RECALL TO REMEDY THE CORROSION DAMAGE AND A FAULTY CONNECTION IN THE SRS OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM; THEY FOUND AN OPEN DRIVER FIRST AIRBAG INFLATOR. THEY HOOKED UP THE SRS SIMULATOR AND REPLACED THE CABLE REEL THE BILL FOR THE AIR BAG REPAIR WAS $415.18. THE DEALER REDUCED THE LABOR COST BY $50.00. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT SET. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH.

THE IMPACT OCCURRED ON THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE HONDA FIT. THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE FIT WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED & THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. MY SON HAD A SERIOUS HEAD INJURY AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND WAS FLOWN BY LIFE FLIGHT TO A TRAUMA CENTER WHERE HE WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH A SERIOUS BRAIN INJURY. NONE OF THE CAR'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HAD THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DEPLOYED, HIS INJURY WOULD HAVE BEEN GREATLY REDUCED. BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, THE CAR WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH 38,000 MILES ON IT. WE NOTICED THAT THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON WHILE SHE SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA MANUAL, IF THE LIGHT COMES ON OTHER THAN WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR, YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR CAR CHECKED BY THE DEALER, AS THIS MAY INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAGS OR SEAT BELT TENSIONERS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WE HAVE NOW TAKEN OUR CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THEY CLAIM THE SRS SYSTEM AND THE AND THE SENSORS WORK PROPERLY. WE FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION IS THE MANUAL, AND CHECKED ITEMS THAT MIGHT BE INTERFERING WITH THE SENSORS. WE HAVE A PICTURE OF OUR DAUGHTER SITTING IN THE PASSENGER WITH THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT ON. SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER NECK AND LEFT RIB CAGE. THE CONTACT WAS PREVIOUSLY REAR-ENDED BY A VEHICLE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THAT CRASH AS WELL. I OWN A 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT THAT WAS IN A HIGH SPEED CRASH. READING THE COMPLAINT # 10228324 I CAN RELATE TO THIS ISSUE. I WAS HIT ON THE VERY FRONT LEFT SIDE AT ABOUT 55 MPH AND THEN PUSHED OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT. THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE CAR HIT A DIRT BURM AROUND 30 MPH. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON UNTIL IT WAS RESET. THE BODY SHOP ADVISED ME THAT THE IMPACT CUT THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE AIR BAGS AND SENSOR'S HAD BEEN CUT IN HALF AND THE SENSORS WERE CRACKED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE LEFT SIDE OF THIS MODEL FIT HAS MANY FLAWS AND I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE ONLY ANSWER I CAN GET ON THIS ISSUE IS THAT THE IMPACT WASN'T IN THE RED ZONE FOR THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. I'M SORRY BUT IF THEY DON'T DEPLOY DURING A FRONT END IMPACT WHY WOULD I EVER THINK THEY WOULD HAVE EVER DEPLOYED WITH THE WIRES CUT IN HALF. THE RED ZONE ISN'T THE ISSUE. THE CAR IS A DEATH TRAP ON WHEELS. SO MUCH FOR THE SAFETY RATINGS BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THIS CAR HAS AN AIR BAG ISSUE. THE RECALL BECAUSE OF SALT, B.S. BECAUSE I LIVE IN TEXAS AND HAVE 2 OF THESE CARS THAT THE PASSENGER SENSOR IS STILL SHORTING OUT EVEN AFTER THEY REPLACED IT. THIS IS A VERY LOW POSITION ON THIS CAR SINCE ITS ALREADY LOW TO THE GROUND. I BELIEVE THE AIRBAG SENSORS ARE TOO LOW ON THESE CARS BY POOR AND IRRESPONSIBLE DESIGN BY HONDA. HAD THESE SENSORS BEEN PLACED AT A HIGHER ELEVATION THEN THE AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE GONE OFF AND THE INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN MINOR. INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 12/29/2006 IN OUR 2007 HONDA FIT AND WAS STRUCK IN THE FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT AND RIGHT SIDE WHICH CRUSHED OUR VEHICLE ALL THE BACK TO THE WINDSHIELD, BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH WHEN THE MUSTANG PULLED OUT FROM A PARKING LOT, WENT ACROSS 3 LANES AND STRUCK OUR HONDA FIT. TL* - THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIR BAG CRASH TEST RESULTS OF THE 2007 HONDA FIT. THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY REPORTED THE FOLLOWING R ON THIS VEHICLE: HTTP://WWW.IIHS.ORG/RATINGS/RATING.ASPX?ID=722 "THE HONDA FIT WAS INTRODUCED IN THE 2007 MODEL YEAR. THE FIT WAS EVALUATED IN TWO 40 MPH FRONTAL OFFSET CRASH TESTS. IN THE FIRST TEST, THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYED TOO EARLY, WITH THE RESULT THAT HIGH FORCES WERE RECORDED ON THE DUMMY'S HEAD WHEN IT BOTTOMED OUT THE AIRBAG AND HIT THE STEERING WHEEL HARD, INDICATING THE LIKELIHOOD OF HEAD INJURIES. THIS LED HONDA TO MODIFY THE FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CHARACTERISTICS ON MODELS PRODUCED AFTER NOVEMBER 2006. ALSO, HONDA WILL INITIATE A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN TO MODIFY AT ITS COST VEHICLES PRODUCED EARLIER. A SECOND FIT WAS TESTED WITH THE MODIFIED AIRBAGS, AND THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG INFLATED LATER. RATINGS OF THE FIT WAS BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND TEST, EXCEPT STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE WHICH WAS BASED ON BOTH TESTS. RESTRAINTS/DUMMY KINEMATICS. DUMMY MOVEMENT WAS WELL CONTROLLED. THE SIDE CURTAIN AND SIDE THORAX AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH.
