My 2017 Honda HR-V in White Orchid Pearl (NH-788P) has severe paint peeling on multiple panels (hood, roof, door). Honda issued Service Bulletin 19-064 covering this exact defect. However, I have been informed by Honda customer service and Honda dealers that my vehicle is no longer covered because it is 1 year beyond the 7-year extension period, even though the defect matches the exact conditions described in the bulletin. This is clearly a manufacturing defect, not normal wear. A consumer fairness concern, as the defect appears years before what should be the normal paint life of a vehicle. A potential safety concern, since exposed bare metal can lead to rust and structural weakening. I suggest an investigation into whether Honda should expand the paint defect warranty to include affected vehicles beyond the 7-year cutoff. As I believe paint on those defect vehicles don’t usually start peeling until about 7 year old or later and once they start to peel, they peel rapidly. I have attached photos of the peeling paint for your reference. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
I am the owner of a 2017 Honda HR-V with paint code NH-788P (White Orchid Pearl). Over time, I began to notice significant paint peeling and flaking, primarily on the roof, hood, and upper panels. This defect progressed despite routine washing and care. Based on my research, this is a well-documented and widespread issue affecting many Honda vehicles with this specific paint code. Honda issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 19-064) acknowledging this defect and offered an extended warranty for paint repair. However, my vehicle is just slightly outside the 7-year window, and Honda has refused to assist. The cause appears to be a defect in the factory paint or application process, resulting in poor adhesion and premature paint failure. This has impacted the appearance and resale value of the vehicle and may also lead to long-term corrosion if the issue continues to spread.
The paint on the roof is peeling and some area around the windshield. I contacted Honda but was informed the extended warranty expired as of January 2024. The paint began peeling around July 2024. Honda also stated the extended warranty was valid from the time of purchase. However, I am not sure if this is for the initial purchase (1st owner) or when I purchase it (May 2019). If this is for the initial purchase then the extended warranty offered was negotiated fairly when it involves 2nd, 3rd owners who are now experiencing this issue. I should not have to pay for something that is clearly a manufacturer issue (peeling paint). When I drive at times the paint peelings further in the wind then blows off towards the vehicle behind me. I kindly asked this be addressed at Honda expense since they decided to use a cheaper paint on these vehicles. They need to be held accountable. R/
I had to replace the transmission out of warranty at 165,000 miles. Also the lift gate holds water and deysbt drain properly.
Front passenger water on the floor after rain. Seems to be the same problem described by complaint no. 10979667.
My name is [XXX] - currently own Honda HRV. The Honda HRV was purchased late 2017. Recently after service recall by Honda my car was repaired for service recall by Honda Dealer dealer - 2 days after rain the front passenger floor area next to driver was flooded With water - I immediately took car back to dealer and told them to look at what was wrong as we never had this problem earlier- the service manager told me that there will be charges to even look at it - which I refused to pay as the car I handed before service recall never had this issue. Now with the rains the passenger area next to driver gets flooded every time and after calling Honda they have not responded so far other than informing that they will look up in to it and call me - this has been frustrating experience as it is raining every day for last few days - so please help ASAP. Also checked on internet as one of my friends who has repair garage told me that had similar issue, so inspite of the fact that several of Honda cars have similar problem and it is all over internet ; how come Honda is not aware of this manufacturing defect. This is an serious issue if water remains inside the car will have mold and the car will not be usable - please inform what should a customer do the car is only 3 to 4 years old with just 33,000 miles on it. Honda issued a case number [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT WAS ROCK SOLID AND WOULD NOT BUDGE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING GETTING OFF A HIGHWAY EXIT WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED AND REAR ENDED AN SUV STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. THE ACCIDENT CAUSED HER BACK INJURY WHICH STILL BOTHERS HER TO THIS DAY. THE CRASH WASN'T BAD ENOUGH TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS, BUT CAR DAMAGE WAS OVER $5000. THIS PROBLEM ALSO HAPPENED TO ME ONCE AND HAPPENED ONCE AGAIN TO HER. THANKFULLY, NO ACCIDENT THESE OTHER TWO TIMES. RELEASING AND ATTEMPTING TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIME EVENTUALLY MADE THE BRAKES WORK NORMALLY. THIS WAS WHEN WE FINALLY DECIDED TO GIVE UP THE LEASE BECAUSE MY WIFE AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR ANYMORE. THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 10000 MILES ON IT. I AS A MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN B WOULD GUESS THE PROBLEM WAS LIKELY BE CAUSED BY SOMETHING JAMMING UP IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER OR MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE DEALER WAS NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NEVER REPLACED ANYTHING.
