I am experiencing repeated water intrusion in the front passenger footwell of my 2017 Honda HR-V. The flooding occurs during or after moderate rainfall. The water pools under the carpet and creates a damp environment that could lead to mold, electrical damage, and safety hazards. I’ve researched this issue and found that many other HR-V owners have reported similar problems, especially in 2016–2018 models. There appear to be Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) related to cabin water leaks and A/C drain line issues, but no official recall has been issued. This issue poses a potential health and safety risk due to mold exposure and possible electrical malfunction. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and consider whether a recall or manufacturer action is warranted.

Metal shards from the belt are breaking off into the fluid and damaging the transmission. This led to issues with the dashboard and issues with the braking system as well.

Merging into traffic and car began shaking, stuttering, dash lights all flashing. Pulled to side of highway + shut vehicle off. Checked exterior of vehicle + tires, all ok. Turned back on and unable to drive it safely. Got to Tires Plus (closest open facility) CVT belt deteriorated in transmission. Notorious issue for the 2017 HR-V. Towed to O'Malley Honda in Wausau, WI, for 2nd opinion. Concurred with transmisdion replacement needed due to deteriorating CVT belt. Would like financial assistance to repair vehicle.

Water has been leaking into interior part of my hatchback and has moved into the tail lights for years. Honda dealerships have been aware of that problem I have been having. Now water is leaking inside the car causing the seatbelts to be wet and the seats to be wet and damaged and the interior headliner is soaked and dripping inside the car. I currently have the car at the dealership. They could not figure out what was causing this in their initial diagnosis. Now they want to take off the headliner for a ridiculous sum in which I can not afford. I called Honda customer Care as I believe my car has a manufacturer defect from the beginning. There has been recalls on other vins with this exact problem, but they refuse to acknowledge that my car had these issues and should be fixed like the ones that were recalled. I believe my car should be part of that recall and fixed. The dealer has been dealing with my car leakage problems that have gotten significantly worse. Honda customer service refuses to call the dealer to have them do a diagnosis. Honda wants me to pay the outrageous fee the dealer wants to charge me. The dealer wants to charge me $1395.00 just to look at the car. That’s not even to fix it. I am aware of a class action lawsuit that Honda is knowingly selling cars with defective sunroof issues. My car has a sunroof in it. The dealer claims my sunroof is not the problem. I want this looked into please as there are many complaints out there about HRV and roof leaking. Not to mention recalls for leakage in Hondas. Dealer wants me to trade in my car. I feel they are trying to cover up what’s really going on with these cars and roof leakage.

The transmission went out in my vehicle. I read online that there is/was a recall on this vehicle, models 2016-2018, however, Honda is telling me there is no recall on the transmission. I noticed the grinding on Friday, 01/03/25, and did not drive it again until Monday, 01/06/25. It was still grinding. I took it to my dad’s house so he could lift it and diagnose the issue. While driving up his driveway, the transmission dropped and the car would not move. It had to be towed up the lane.

The odometer gauge (shows mileage and fuel level) intermittently goes blank. Based on the Honda HRV forum, it seems to be a frequent problem. I took it to the dealer, and they said the part needs to be replaced, at a cost of ~$2000. Started a few months ago and seems worse when weather is cold.

Water started leaking into my car through the dome light and near the driver's side floor area. This caused my body control module to flood and fail, affecting my entire electrical system. There is nothing in the owner's manual, maintenance schedule in the owner's information packet, or as part of the multipoint inspection indicating that the drains near the sunroof needed to be blown out. In contacting Honda, I was told that it is my responsibility to "keep my car clean." They refuse to take any responsibility for the issue even though there are numerous complaints about this online. The water coming in on the driver's side floor began late in May, 2024 and the water leaking through the dome light, affecting the failure in the electrical system occurred on June 22, 2024.

I was driving it, it went into a limp mode. I could not accelerate. My dash light up flashing all different warning signs. Then put me at a complete stop and in permanent park with 6 or 7 dash lights on for my breaking system. When I was able to get it serviced they found I had complete transmission failure.

The third display on dashboard (MPG, time, odometer, gasoline gauge) turns on and off. It displays gibberish and flickers. I don't believe it is related to cold weather because it happens on warm days.

My odometer goes blank whenever it is a little cold and/or rainy. I never know how fast I am going when this happens. I could be speeding and not know it and get into a horrible accident.

My name is [XXX] - currently own Honda HRV. The Honda HRV was purchased late 2017. Recently after service recall by Honda my car was repaired for service recall by Honda Dealer dealer - 2 days after rain the front passenger floor area next to driver was flooded With water - I immediately took car back to dealer and told them to look at what was wrong as we never had this problem earlier- the service manager told me that there will be charges to even look at it - which I refused to pay as the car I handed before service recall never had this issue. Now with the rains the passenger area next to driver gets flooded every time and after calling Honda they have not responded so far other than informing that they will look up in to it and call me - this has been frustrating experience as it is raining every day for last few days - so please help ASAP. Also checked on internet as one of my friends who has repair garage told me that had similar issue, so inspite of the fact that several of Honda cars have similar problem and it is all over internet ; how come Honda is not aware of this manufacturing defect. This is an serious issue if water remains inside the car will have mold and the car will not be usable - please inform what should a customer do the car is only 3 to 4 years old with just 33,000 miles on it. Honda issued a case number [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MOUNTAIN IN WASHINGTON STATE ON I-84. AN EXPLOSION, LIKE A RIFLE SHOT, OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH; LIGHT RAIN, 70 DEGREES, 5 PM ON 8 SEPTEMBER 2019. A THULE WAS IN PLACE OVER THE SKYLIGHT, PROTECTING IT, AND THE CABIN SLIDE WAS CLOSED. NO SHATTERED GLASS ENTERED THE CABIN. THE A/C WAS ON VENT, WHICH SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED THE PRESSURE CHANGE OF DESCENDING THE MOUNTAIN TO EQUALIZE.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON AND STARTED TO HAVE AN ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION. ALL OF THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH AND THE VEHICLES STARTER MADE A REALLY WEIRD NOISE. IT VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. AFTER THAT, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED BUT ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WERE STUCK ON, INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE BRAKE WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF ABOUT 4 TIMES I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR MOVING, BUT ALL LIGHTS ON DASH STAYED ON. AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT.

I NEED HAND CONTROLS AND SPINNER KNOB FOR MY NEW CAR. YOU ALLOW UP TO ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS. IT'S BEEN MANY YEARS AT THIS PRICE AND IT WAS FINE. THE COST NOW FOR HAND CONTROLS IS $1450.00. I THINK IT'S TIME TO REEVALUATE HOW MUCH THINGS ARE THESE DAYS AND MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO YOUR POLICIES.
